Terminus

Seventeen years had passed since their admission, supine, hands clasped. The moment paused and rewound so many times it has begun to slip and slur. Yet it remains solid, holding down everything from that time, forward. It is the ground to which any path may be traced.

It is far from nothing.

They were alone, their easy banter quickly escalating to hysteria. It was cast. He pressed his words between their laughter, hoping that the weight of their meaning may be buoyed by the mirth of the spell. As he had hoped, they had caught her off guard. And, she swallowed her response, continuing to laugh as if what he said was part of the folly.

It is easier to disbelieve.

Then he turned to her and she found the truth in his eyes. He wanted to take it back; he did take it back. While she held her breath and hoped that she could find her words, and that they wouldn’t sound ridiculous in the wake of her stay, he had let his words disintegrate.

The moment was gone.

In an instant, fear can consume you. It can make you refrain from disclosure, from the truth. You may hold your tongue or reel in its wag. Once it is fixed, fear can thrive in you for years, feeding off of regret, recycling into a fierce energy…anger.

It can destroy.

Or you may gain experience, chalk it up to another missed cue. You can allow yourself to forgive, provide another the opportunity to atone. Understand that when acknowledged, fear can guide you. You can turn it around and fear can provide additional strength to push you beyond previous expectations, to rise above limitations.

What has become of them?

Over 2500 miles travelled between the lines, their lives. They both stand as a movable marker for a moment, a slide rule for a decision. They are not broken, but both are damaged. Each has a life filled with family, friends, knowledge, achievements, and failed attempts. Of course, there is a portion of their lives of which the other is aware, a fraction that they speculate. But, neither knows that the other will occasionally recall that moment, reflecting on, but never regretting, its purpose.

MARTHA JONES SUCKS BIG TIME!!!

By SHINO YUASA and ERIC TALMADGE, Associated Press

FUKUSHIMA, Japan

– Japan said radiation levels in spinach and milk from farms near its tsunami-crippled nuclear complex exceeded government safety limits, as emergency teams scrambled Saturday to restore power to the plant so it could cool dangerously overheated fuel.

The food was taken from farms as far as 65 miles (100 kilometers) from the stricken plants, suggesting a wide area of nuclear contamination.
While the radiation levels exceeded the limits allowed by the government, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano insisted the products "pose no immediate health risk."

Police said more than 452,000 people made homeless by the quake and tsunami were staying in schools and other shelters, as supplies of fuel, medicine and other necessities ran short.

Our time has come

to take a journey

Back to the core of your own creation

Far beyond this world of exploitation

They steal our souls and then

Expose it all for view

An open mind

Will set you free

A potent dose of reality

Peel off the layers

To what's within

It's time for you to shed your skin

In this netherworld

There is nothing sacred

All our knowledge just confirms

We are fools

Faith and trust replaced by greed and money

Our bodies numb

After it all it's through

An open mind

Will set you free

A potent dose of reality

Peel off the layers

To what's within

It's time for you to

Shed your skin

We're fools
Slowly slipping
The world is slipping away

Anybody interested in knowing that the US has just fired missiles into Libya?

The Libyan people were asking where is France, where is the USA when we need them?

And their cries will probably be forgotten or twisted. The cries of the people asking for help in gaining or securing their freedom usually are. These days the governments who hear the cries and answer the calls of people pleading for help are usually turned into oil hungry, blood thirsty villians.

You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

I would much rather answer a cry for help that goes against popular opinion than stand by and do nothing while innocent people suffer.

How long do think it will be before Australia is forced to get involved with this latest conflict EP?

Anonymous said...

U.S. and British ships and submarines launched the first phase of a missile assault on Libyan air defenses and a senior American defense official said it was believed Moammar Gadhafi's air defenses suffered substantial damage.

USA and UK = BFFs

even if they aren't nearly as close as they were 3-4 years ago. Bush and Blair really did respect and like each other so much. They were on the same page of friendship just like Thatcher and Reagan.

Anonymous said...

Where is Russia in this?

Probably wishing they could go back in time and dreaming of Texas barbeque or California sushi.

Those words sound familiar? Who said that before today's strikes against a middle eastern nation?

Damn. Those really do sound like words the world has heard from a US president before don't they?

Anonymous said...

Only to honest people in touch with reality will they sound familiar.

There are still disturbed and delusional people out there who think that the 9/11 terrorists attacks were the work of the US government.

It is involved but not militarily directly. Australian government supports the UN no-fly zone enforcement and has withdrawn diplomats and condemns Gaddafi's actions. It has indicated it will not take part in current operations. Can't say when that will change but if it's needed it will.

Good Morning

Yesterday I spent the whole day outside cleaning out brush from behind one of the barns. Not even sure why. Mr E could have done with the bush hog, hell I could have hooked it up to the tractor and did it myself but no, I did it by hand. Crap does my back and hands hurt this morning. But it's a good hurt. One of those where you feel bad but you feel you accomplished something. Besides it was a beautiful day and the fresh air and sunshine were just what I needed.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Take care.

Spicy rice and veggie stew

Meet my Spicy Rice and Vegetable Stew, an idea born from the standard tomato-based beef stew recipe and sweetened with an extra jolt of hot and spicy!

1 cup water (plus one can full, later)
1 medium white onion, diced small
3 cloves garlic, minced
10 large spinach leaves, chopped
1 cup mushrooms, sliced (I used a variety of frozen mushrooms)
1 cup broccoli florets (I used frozen)
1 large carrot, peeled and thinly sliced
1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
1 1/2 cups cooked long-grain brown rice
1 package of your favorite vegan "meat" (I used sliced Italian sausages)
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
A few shakes of liquid smoke, if ya got it
Dash of cayenne
Salt and pepper, to taste

In a large skillet, saute onions, carrots, and garlic in 1 cup of water over medium heat until soft. Most of the water should be cooked off before you proceed.
Add tomato sauce. Fill tomato sauce can with water, and add that too. Stir well.
Add in your pre-cooked rice, and stir again. Cover and allow to simmer over medium-low heat for a few minutes, until everything is equally hot through and through, and well mixed.
Add your choice of "meat." I like to use vegan Italian sausages, but ground beef substitute works well too. I've never tried it with a chicken substitute, but I think that might work too! If you're using sausages, I suggest you slice and pre-cook them in a cast iron skillet until they are lightly brown and crispy on the sides, but this is not absolutely necessary if you're in a hurry.
Add remaining veggies, starting with the spinach, then the mushrooms. Put the broccoli in last - try to keep it from getting overcooked and soggy. You might even want to save it until the very last step.
Add remaining spices, to taste. Cover and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
Makes 8 servings.
Enjoy!

Wot a brilliant weekend! Had some friends stay over on Friday night. We watched Comic Relief, drank wine and ate chocolate. Danced like bloody loons when Take That were on. Took us all back to when we were at Primary school. We'd gather in the playground and practice our dance moves wearing our Take That T. shirts and lycra cycling shorts. Anyone remember those? Mine were black with a lime green stripe. Happy days.

Spent most of Saturday at the pub watching 3 Rugby matches. Ireland thrashed England and the French slaughtered the Welsh team. Can’t remember the other match!!

Got up early Sunday morning and walked alone up the Berwyn Mountains where the alleged UFO came down about 35 years ago. I wasn’t scared cos I’m a tough little cookie! I realised late last night that I hadn’t actually spoken to anyone all day. Not a word. Just me and my thoughts. ‘Twas quite nice really.
