Terminus

Seventeen years had passed since their admission, supine, hands clasped. The moment paused and rewound so many times it has begun to slip and slur. Yet it remains solid, holding down everything from that time, forward. It is the ground to which any path may be traced.

It is far from nothing.

They were alone, their easy banter quickly escalating to hysteria. It was cast. He pressed his words between their laughter, hoping that the weight of their meaning may be buoyed by the mirth of the spell. As he had hoped, they had caught her off guard. And, she swallowed her response, continuing to laugh as if what he said was part of the folly.

It is easier to disbelieve.

Then he turned to her and she found the truth in his eyes. He wanted to take it back; he did take it back. While she held her breath and hoped that she could find her words, and that they wouldn’t sound ridiculous in the wake of her stay, he had let his words disintegrate.

The moment was gone.

In an instant, fear can consume you. It can make you refrain from disclosure, from the truth. You may hold your tongue or reel in its wag. Once it is fixed, fear can thrive in you for years, feeding off of regret, recycling into a fierce energy…anger.

It can destroy.

Or you may gain experience, chalk it up to another missed cue. You can allow yourself to forgive, provide another the opportunity to atone. Understand that when acknowledged, fear can guide you. You can turn it around and fear can provide additional strength to push you beyond previous expectations, to rise above limitations.

What has become of them?

Over 2500 miles travelled between the lines, their lives. They both stand as a movable marker for a moment, a slide rule for a decision. They are not broken, but both are damaged. Each has a life filled with family, friends, knowledge, achievements, and failed attempts. Of course, there is a portion of their lives of which the other is aware, a fraction that they speculate. But, neither knows that the other will occasionally recall that moment, reflecting on, but never regretting, its purpose.

Hi:)

I'm a bit worried about Pickled Possum. I know she lives in New Zealand and was wondering if anyone knows if she's ok after the recent earthquake. I can't find her blog:(

Sorry I've not been around much lately. I've written many comments only to delete them before hitting the publish button. Not sure why. Well yes I do know actually, it's because I have absolutely nothing to say. Nothing!

*sigh*

I'm officially a boring old fart:(

Ummmm, let's see, I watched Bambi with little Rees the other day. It's just soooo sad. It gets to me every bloody time! Poor, poor Bambi:(
I was sat on the sofa with Rees on my knee. When Bambi goes looking for his mam I pulled the hood on my hoodie over my face and pulled the drawstrings tight. You could just about see my nose peeking out of the opening. I think Rees knew I was crying cos he pushed one of his sweets through the opening. Bless him.

Penblwydd hapus Paperheart:)

Hope everyone's well.

Cheerio.

The first time I heard Bambi, on a record (as children's books used to come with little records when I was a kid) I was surrounded by my fellow daycare buddies, eating yummy grilled cheese sandwiches at the dining table; when, just at the point in the story (the really really scary part!) where Bambi's mom gets killed in the fire... the kitchen sort of blew up.

I really hate Bambi.

Nice to see you, Welshie! I enjoy reading you, if it makes you feel any better! I would also like to know how PP is doing. If someone could please get a hold of her and let us know here, that would be much appreciated. Have a nice day, everyone. :D

Hi all

hey welshie, anon, PH

I have heard from PP, she is fine as are all her family and friends, she isn't in Christchurch but some people she is close to are in that area and have no water or power (last I heard) and are in areas where there is a fair amount of damage to buildings, road impassable etc. There are still major aftershocks in the area (around 5's) and the army have the city center as a no go area, there is a curfew and a state of emergency is still in effect.
They are looking at buildings to see what is safe to save and what isn't, tragically a lot of very historic churches etc will have to be demolished it seems. Major other threat there is contaminated water from ruptured sewage lines and there are 2 confirmed cases of gastro yesterday. Main thrust at the moment is to keep the population safe and healthy but until the land movements stop it is hard to do anything.

PP has commented on my blog and you can reach her profile and thus her blog or email via her name on her comment, or if you locate a comment by her at Mayo's it will link you as well of course, if anyone wishes to contact her personally.

Happy Labor Day Mayo, Paperheart, Amy, Ergo, Elena, :), Welshie, all nocturnal creatures (undead or alive)!!!

That there is some HARD LABOR!!!

I don't know about you all; but, my hat is off to all the laborers out there. Especially those men and women I see working along the highways and byways of America, on roofs or any outdoor constuction (or other) workers I see having to work out there in the intense summer heat! And, those out there cleaning up the beaches and cleaning blades of grass in the wetlands/coastal marshes with paper towels too!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

*stands and gives them all a rousing round of applause*

Paperheart: I'm wishing you a heartfelt bon voyage as you set sail on your new course (and courses) in life!!! May it be a, relatively, storm free journey!

Did you ever that tattoo?

Welshie: I, too, have heard from that adorable little Possum. I had planned (and still do plan) to visit her to make sure she wasn't shaken up too much with the earthquakes.

Thanks, Ergo (for delivering the good Possum news)!

I must also check in with Mya and make sure she (and her family)wasn't beaten up too much by Earl. Earl was at his strongest when he passed by her!

So, who's looking forward to that current WORLD CHAMPIONS the New Orleans SAINTS versus the (I'm retired, I'm not retired, I'm retiring, I'm not retiring, This is my last season, That wasn't my last season... Bret Farve lead) Minnesota VIKINGS game this week?

I AM!!!! It's going to be a GREAT game. The Vikings are out for blood and The Saints are hoping they're the ones to cause the bleed. (I'm hoping that as well ~ only, without any actual blood spilt.)

:P

And, of course, WHO DAT?!!! I BELIEVE!!!!

Enjoy the remainder of your day/night, everyone!!!

Hugs and Love,

Okay. Back.

Happy Belated Birthday, Paperheart! I can't believe it. 18?! Where did those years spring from? I hope you had a fabulous day. =)

Many thanks to everyone that asked after me, and thanks Ergo for keeping people informed. I'm fine. =) My stepsister's chimney has since fallen into her house, with one of the 130 aftershakes, but at least she's one of the lucky ones and can still stay in her home.

So much history has been destroyed. Christchurch is our second biggest city and well over 100,000 homes, out of 160,000, have been damaged. Many historic buildings are having to be demolished. But you know what? - not one death! Incredible.

It's going to be a long haul as more damage is still being sustained and so many people are having to go into temporary shelters, but the whole country is pulling behind them and doing whatever we can. That's what you have to do. =)

Mayo,
Nemo? 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, or movie review? Yeah I know. wrong as usual. Good to see you. =)

Hope you all have a nice day. =)

Thanks PP, she was a great old puss, I am not as sad as I thought I'd be though, not like when we have unexpectedly lost a pet. It dawned on me that I feel like I have read a really great book, even though it had a sad ending, it was the right one, and I have turned the last page and put it into the shelf, to be forever one of my favourites. I am so grateful she wrote it with us in it.
No worries on letting people know either, I'm sorry your stepsis had had more house damage. Some of those aftershocks have been huge! Seeing the pictures of the homes ad buildings destroyed is so sad, but as you said, no deaths is a blessing.

Hope everyone else is puttering along as best they can :]

Oh. Thank you. Now I understand your line of reasoning, 1:39am. I never noticed that they were being posted for one person in particular. I just responded to a favourite song of mine.

I'm so sorry if I caused you some confusion :). =(

If you were doing that intentionally that would be cruel and fucked up.

Pickled Possum, I'm so glad you're ok. Thank goodness there was no deaths. It's so sad to see so many historic buildings destroyed. Living in Wales means that I'm absolutely surrounded by them. I love it! I can spend hours daydreaming when I visit them.

Ergo I'm so, so sorry you lost your beloved cat. When I read 'the last thing she did was purr,' I felt so sad:(

Anonymous said...

I have a question for 1:39/1:46.

You obviously thought the anon at 9:44 was the intended recipient of :)'s post, so why were you so angry with that person? There was nothing rude, mean or unpleasant in 9:44's response to :) and I don't understand why 9:44's perfectly innocent response provoked such a hostile reaction.

9:44 explained they were not who you thought they were, but that does not explain why you lashed out at 9:44 when you thought they were the person :) was posting for. The only explanation would be that you know who :) is and who the intended recipient is and you do not approve of their relationship.

Welshie said...

The more I read the papers
The less I comprehend
The world with all its capers
And how it all will end.
Nothing seems to be lasting.
But that isn't our affair;
We've got something permanent,
I mean in the way we care.

It's very clear
Our love is here to stay;
Not for a year
But ever and a day.
The radio and the telephone and the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies,
And in time may go.
But, oh my dear,
Our love is here to stay;
Together we're going a long, long way.
In time the Rockies may crumble, Gibraltar may tumble,
They're only made of clay,
But our love is here to stay.

9:44 wasn't lashed out at because they were assumed to be the person smile was posting for. They were told to stop messing with people if that was what they were doing.

They were not intentionally doing that.

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion

Good morning to Mayo, Ergo, Possum, Welshie, Amy, :), confused, sad, pouty, lashing, flashing, fresh and fiesty anons and other folks!

How are all, today? Not too sad and pouty, I hope! Fresh and fiesty is, however, always good in my opinion! A little (gentle) lashing and (discreet) flashing isn't so bad either.

;)

Possum: It's really good to see you (here)! I'm working on a new trap for you. I've been so distracted that I haven't had time to make resizing adjustments! I must do that and do it soon!

Ergo: It is a very tragic memorial, isn't it? A truly horrible day ~ not just in American history; but also World history.

Congrats on the win Wendy. Wendy? Bloody hell she's passed out!

LOL, Welshie!!!
Thank you!!!! I'm glad someone was paying attention! I could have been "out" for a week and may have missed the next game!

I saw pigs fly and hell freeze over while I was out!

:P

Oh, no... wait... that was when we BEAT the Vikings last NFL season and made it to the SUPERBOWL!!!!
Then, WE WON the SUPERBOWL and became the WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!!!

That's right. US. We did. The WHO DATs! The "black and gold"! The "ain'ts no mo"! The NOLA SAINTS!!!

I do recall that a certain anon here said that "the Saints winning the Superbowl was a sign of the apocalypse".

Hmmm... did someone forget to tell us that the world ended?! Because, I certainly still feel winningly and spendidly ALIVE!

~~Not my video. Not my channel. Just great footage of the moment!~~

Or, it could be because I was so excited to hear that my dear friends Martha and Mya were A~okay after recent fire and water/wind events.

Or... it could have been that "double shot"...

Nah... it couldn't have been that. I just wanted an excuse to sing that song because I LOVE IT!!! It such a fun song!

Feel free to dance and sing along!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Woke up this morning, my head was so bad
The worst hangover that I ever had
What happened to me last night
That girl of mine, she loved me so right (yeah!) (oh, oh)
She loved me so long and she loved me so hard
I finally passed out in her front yard (whoo!)
It wasn't wine that I had too much of
It was a double shot of my baby's love
Double shot of my baby's love, yeah yeah, yeah
Double shot of my baby's love, yeah yeah, yeah
A potion that I had too much of
It was a double shot of my baby's love
It was such a thrill it was hurtin' me (ooh!)
I was sufferin' in ecstasy
She had me turnin' flips and-a shoutin' out loud (yah-hah!)
A sip of her love and I was walkin' one a cloud
One night a week is-a plenty enough
It's a good thing for me they don't bottle that stuff [pop!]
Well, my heart begins to fly like a dove
When I take a double shot of my baby's love
Double shot of my baby's love, yeah yeah, yeah
That has always been one of my jukebox favorites!!! Right alongside "Sweet Child O'Mine" and "Patience" by GnR, "Back In Black" by AC/DC, "The Hand That Feeds" and "Closer" by NIN, "Feel Like Making Love" by Bad Company, "Anyway You Want It" by Journey and anything by HIM, KISS, Elvis, Pantera, Queen, Zombie, The Cult, T~Rex, or Meatloaf!
How can we pretend to act on our own?
In the hand of Love I am like a cat in a sack;
Sometimes Love hoists me into the air,
Sometimes Love flings me into the air,
Love swings me round and round His head;
I have no peace, in this world or any other.
The lovers of God have fallen in a furious river;
They have surrendered themselves to Love's commands.
Like mill wheels they turn, day and night, day and night,
Constantly turning and turning, and crying out.
Don’t Be A Control Freak Like Ms. Jackson
Oh, if she only knew from the beginning to go with the flow! You can, too, when you consider the following:
1. Do things that come effortless to you in your life. Focus on your God Given talent, even if it’s not your main way of making money right now. Work on it part-time, until it is!
2. Dump the heavy weight out of your boat. Focus ON YOU FIRST! Those anchors can be toxic relationships with friends, co-workers, and even family members and lovers who might be holding you back or draining your energy and nay-sayers that are not interested in your personal dreams. they are not reciprocal relationships, and can’t or won’t support the vision you have for yourself.
3. Honor your values and stand by your beliefs!
4. Become an allower!
The Art of Allowing is finding a vibration that feels SO good when you find it, feels better and better as you maintain it, and gives you evidence of that connection through THRIVING. You’ll learn to recognize an immediate response of to that connection … It is joy in the moment (NOW). The long long-range evidence is abundance in all things you consider good — like health, relationships, and dollars. —Abraham-Hicks, Phoenix 3/29/2003
5. Get good at finding an appropriate release. Let go of what it is that doesn’t make you feel good.
6. Realize you are the creator of your experience. You do have a choice … downstream with the flow or upstream with the struggle? Take your pick!
Once you begin to flow — circumstances and events become immediate. It will feel like magic and you’ll be slapping yourself in the head for not “letting go of the oars” sooner. The only thing holding you back is yourself. Come into vibrational alignment with who you are.
Most importantly, RELEASE THE OARS and go with the flow of life. Pay attention to your A-HA! MOMENTS. Oh, what a ride on river it will be!
anons you're reminding me of this song
love that song, I was pretty proud of learning to sing along with it too.
Sock it to me.
Floatin down the river
With a saturated liver
And I wish I could forgive her
But I do believe she meant it
When she told me to forget it
And I bet she will regret it
When they find me in the morning wet and drowned
And words goes round
Goin down
Goin down
Comin up for air
It's pretty stuffy under there
I'd like to say I didn't care
But I forgot to leave a note
And it's so hard to stay afloat
I'm soakin wet without a boat
And I knew I should have taken off my shoes
It's front page news
Goin down
I'm goin down
Hep hep,
hep hep,
hep,
hep hep,
hep hep
I wish I had another drink
It wouldn't be so hard to sink
I should have taken time to think
Beside I got the picture straight
She musta had another date
I didn't need this extra weight
I wish that I could see the way to shore
Don't want no more
Goin down
Goin down
Now I see the life I lead
I slept it all away in bed
I shoulda learned to swim instead
Now it's really got me stumped
I can't believe or why I jumped
I'd like to get my tummy pumped
I can't believe they drink this stuff in town
This dirty brown
Goin down
Goin down
I should have looked before I leaped
I didn't know it was so deep
Been down so far I don't get wet
I haven't touched the bottom yet
This river scene is gettin old
I'm hungry sleepy wet and cold
She told me to forget it nice
I should have taken her advice
I only wanna go on home
I'd gladly leave that girl alone
What a way to spend the night
If I don't drown I'll die of fright
My papy taught to float
But I can't swin a single note
He threw me in to teach me how
And I stayed there floating like a mama cow
And now I'm floating way down stream
I know this has to be a dream
If I could find my way to shore
I'd never ever do this any more
I'll give you three, I've been down nine
I'm goin down just one more time
Goin Down
I'm goin down...etc
Now the sky is gettin' light
An everything will be alright
Think I finally got the knack
Just floatin' here lazy on my back
I never really liked that town
I think I'll ride the river down
Just movin' slow and floatin' free
There's a river swingin' under me.
Waving back to the folks on shore
I should have thought of this before
I'm floatin' on down to New Orleans
Goin' to pick up on some swingin' scenes
I know I'll know a better day
I'll go down groovin' all the way
Goin' down
Goin' down
Til the end of time.
We are still all right
We took it on the chin
But in the thirteenth hour
No one ever wins
But we're strong enough
Like traffic all tied up
And when the static clears
The radios still buzz
And I stop and I breathe
'Cause you wanted me
And I wanted you so bad
And I stop and I breathe
'Cause I still believe
No one really knows what it is that we have
Like blood in a vein
We chased this one down
And in the darkest long night
We turned it all around
And it was coal-dusted snow
That covered the fields
But the corn it still grew
And the injury healed
And I stop and I breathe
'Cause you wanted me
And I wanted you so bad
And I stop and I breathe
'Cause I still believe
No one really knows what it is that we have
And I stop and I breathe
'Cause you wanted me
And I wanted you so bad
And I stop and I breathe
'Cause I still believe
No one really knows what it is that we have
Bridges burning gladly
Merging with the shadows
Flickering between the lines
Stolen moments floating softly on the air
Borne on wings of fire and climbing higher
Ancient bonds are breaking
Moving on and changing sides
Dreaming of a new day
Cast aside the other way
Magic visions stirring
Kindled by and burning flames rise in her eyes
The doorway stands ajar
The walls that once were high
Beyond the gilded cage
Beyond the reach of ties
The moment is at hand
She breaks the golden band
