Mother Fucker that feels good.

It is down right impossible to kill the mood around here this fine evening. So, my intended post has been shelved for the time being. I am grateful for the distraction; my mood had drifted toward the foul. I am not my usual pretty princess self. You laugh...would you prefer The Queen? Quite honestly, I am like an unruly child.

Foolishly, I lost my temper. In an attempt to do far too many things at once, I allowed myself to snap under the pressure. The target of my destructive behavior, ever so graciously, allowed my rant without a challenge. And yes...as I know you will ask, I have apologized. I am truly sorry.

p.s. those dark moments back there cause me to pause and thank you.

Hi Entropy!

What's new with everyone? Anything exciting? I see there was a lot of talk about books.

Here is my secret: I have trouble reading. I can't really explain it... It is kind of like ADD, but different. I cannot remember anything I've read unless I read really really slow. Which is probably why it takes me so long to catch up on these comments. Sometimes I have to re-read them. I've had it all my life. Somehow I made it through school and a Masters degree, but I had to find a way to get what I needed out of books in order to succeed.

So all in all, I can't really enjoy reading. I wish I did.

You know it's weird because honestly, I didn't think there would be a 4th record, so for there to be a new song, just makes it weird you know?
I was so dead set on there not being a 4th record that it's wierd to hear a new song and for him to be talking about a year from now when we'll hear that song on a new record.

Talk to you later anima.

Anonymous said...

why wouldnt there be a fourth record?

Perhaps even a fifth, or sixth, but i highly doubt that =)
I think that song isnt going to be on the album, but perhaps on the DVD like LOTMS had extra songs, or hmm, maybe on the Mama B-side?

Againapologizing for the broken spacebar.

Anon @ 5:28 - Wow, hi, my Mom readsthis blog. Now that she'sgot an image of me as a frigging dominatrix, thanks. More than that, I'm not aninja. NinjasareJapaneseand I am a Kung Fu student. That's Chinese.

Morethan thatthough, don't assume that any of us want really anything to do with G-Way. Time was, I thought he was sincere and unusually humble and sweet, and that made him very cute and appealing. When I thought he washonestly against violence towards women and minorities, I found him spectacular. But with the advent of "I know you all want in my pants" Gerard, the Gerard who thinks that aband who writesabout sexing five year old girls, calls women bitches and whores and throws out theN wordand has a song called"Faggot" is amaaaaayzing, amaaaaayzing to be quite honest, I wouldn't touch him with a plastic one.

So the show lastnight was great, from what I understand, and that's cool. But I don'tfind it any reason to be creaming my jeans overthem, thanks. They did a greatshow, awesome, that's what they are paid exorbitant amountsofmoneyto do. I'm glad they seem happy, but the newsmeans nothing to me becausethey're still going to take MSI on the road and expose them to their mostly young audience.

So glad Frank was in love with all of them last night. The camaraderie that must have been displayed between all of them makes me beam with happiness.

ILU Mustard, but I disagree so hard. I would so much rather of any one ofthe guys grabbedthe mic and said, "Look, it's not okay. We'renot all on boardwith songs about doing five year old girls and women being bitches. We haven't allsold out." Then I'd stand up and cheer--for the other guys. Until that day comes along they can do all the fantastic, small, energetic showsthey want and I still won't be feeling it. New song?Cool,I guess. But I'm getting so overthem that I'm not as excited as I want to be, and that really blows, because I loved loving this band.

I have the gut feeling(and a bit of proofin myown way) that the original"anonymous" was really Frank, and I applaud him for saying that not everyone in the band was into the clique mentalitythat certain people "involved" with the band were promoting. Iknow ifthat'strue, he had to have risked a lot to getthe word outthere. I appreciate that. But if this band everstoodfor human rights, equality,if they everstoodagainst violence, racism, sexism and hate, if it ever wasmorethan just marketing and lip service, then at least some ofthem need to stand up and say so, need to give us areason--a realreason--why they are showering their audiencewith MSI's words of hate and stupidity.

Because that's reallyall I want, a realreason. Acknoweldgement that we're not all stupid fankids who aregoing to swallow whateverthe hellthey want to feed us. Up until then, they can smile at each other all the want on stageand dangle new songs like carrotsin front of us--I am a true punk in ethics, and I won'tsell out.

This is the claim of this article...It is NOT a cure, but a treatment. Patients must continue to take medication in order to restore T-cell counts to "normal" range. Once off medication, the virus would once again be able to "kill" the immune system by hi-jacking the patients T-cells to produce more HIV.

There are already similar treatments in existence, drug "cocktails" that HIV/AIDS patients take that allow them to have a funtioning immune system.

Also, I would question the source of this health information...is the web site credible?...looks like the original study comes out of the University of Coppenhagen, and was published in a academic journal called The Lancet (I am not familiar with)...I will have to investigate further.

I think its different in this situation because MSI is his wife's band, unlike the other bands who he had no relation with.
I highly doubt he thinks Lyn-z is trying to spread a bad message, then he wouldnt have married her.
Yes, perhaps Jimmy believes in all these negative things but the fact that Lyn-z is in the band makes it seem different to him.
Eh, i dont know. Jimmy is kind of just screwed up in the head. Concerning Lyn-z, i have no problem with her, although many people do for some reason.

That didnt make any sense but oh well, im sleepy

Didn't Gerard dislike the nu - metal bands for their lyrics and was not Linkin Park a part of that movement and did they not recently tour together?

gnothi seauton said...

And I have said in my blog and I will say it here as well, delete me if you want, this could all be a grand plan to rid the scene of the teenies.

Introduce a band with inflammatory lyrics, displease the teen scene ( no disrespect to the teens amongst us ) and cleanse the fanbase of a huge swathe of people, leaving themselves a clean slate to pick up and start again.

Weird but maybe true.

haha, displease the teenies? Hmmm, never thought of it that way. I dont know, considering i am a teenager, stuff like this doesnt affect our age unlike older people who will get pissed at a band like MSI.
I have this one girl in my school who is one of the hugest MSI fans i have ever seen in my life. MSI shirt every single day, covered sticker of MSI all over her binder, etc, ect.
Obviously what they say in their songs doesnt affect her as well as other people in the teen range.

Magic Pie said...

anon, I honestly think that people are taking the MSI thing to seriously. (flame me all you want folks, I don't care.)

Most people DO NOT take that band seriously. To me, they are a joke band just like Bloodhound Gang and others like them. They even mention, I think on their first album, that they should not be taken seriously.

So, like that girl in school you know, I think there are a lot of other people like her who don't care about the lyrics because they don't mean anything.

Anonymous said...

I think its different in this situation because MSI is his wife's band, unlike the other bands who he had no relation with.

Precisely. Which is the definition of selling out. Basically he's saying, "Those other bands are badwhen they talk about women beign bitches. But I just married into one, so their songs about childporn and faggots and bitches--those are okay. Because I said so." Bollocks. That'sthe height of hypocrisy.

Seems to me it depends on what you want at that time in your career.

That'swhy it's kind of starting to seem that it was marketing andlip service all along. Which is a real bummer.

Introduce a band with inflammatory lyrics, displease the teen scene ( no disrespect to the teens amongst us ) and cleanse the fanbase of a huge swathe of people, leaving themselves a clean slate to pick up and start again.

It almost feels like he is trying to chase a certain group of people away on purpose. The shame of it is,those people are still going to his showsand in theinterim, arebeingsubjectedto this "New Gerard" who is basically a hypocrite with his hand always down his pants. And not only is he chasing away the teens, but he's losing every fan of his who has a functioning brain and who likedthe fact that MCR had a message that stood against violence and hatred.

gnothi seauton said...

Agreed Magic pie, Linkin Park are excellent:)

He never did specify which bands he meant, just made a sweeping generalisation if I remember rightly.

Anonymous - I meant more along the lines of the screaming ' OMG GERARD IS SO HOT ' teenie variety, who are prone to fickle natures and can be turned off of bands on a whim.

Anonymous said...

^^ That was what i was implying magic pie XD
I dont take them seriously at all.
And i happen to love Bloodhound Gang even though they have pretty profound music.
All in all, MSI is just, a band nothing less and nothing more.

Anonymous said...

I don't carewho likesthem or takes themseriously. I'm just going by what Gerard has said countless times. He's not going against anyone'sopinion but his own. What's the word forthat again?Oh, I remember. Hypocrite.

Most people DO NOT take that band seriously. To me, they are a joke band just like Bloodhound Gang and others like them. They even mention, I think on their first album, that they should not be taken seriously.

gnothi seauton said...

No Magic Pie, I'm with you to a degree on this one.

We were discussing this earlier.

I think the main issue was that MSI lyrics were viewed by the majority to be supported by members of the band, rather than as I thought, a way of bringing these issues into the public eye.

It was argued that they condoned the behaviour spoken about in their songs, supported by comments that have been made on stage.

With regards to not meaning your lyrics as you stated and that they are a joke, perhaps it would be wiser to not cover such sensitive subject matter.

I get where you are ALL coming from.

I'm back. Sorry if I am interupting, again I haven't totally caught up, but I want to say something really quick.

I am not here to change your mind, nor are you trying to change mine, which is what I love about being here. With that said, I just want to comment about MSI and MCR.

I do like MSI (musically, honestly I did not pay attention to lyrics until much later). And I do understand where all of you are coming from, but in my mind I do not think they are so bad in the sense of their lyrics.

They also wrote in one of their albums about this exact issue. They know their lyrics are fucked up. I mentioned before about the one song that really sets everyone off (and I do understand), but I also understand that music is about expressing ones views, experiences, and nonsense. I mentioned that maybe someone was molested that is close to the band. Therefore, Jimmy sings the lyrics and disgusting nature of "john wayne gasey"... and it is really fucked up. I do not believe they promote anything they sing about; it is what it is; just as in the "artist" who pissed on the painting of jesus and called it art. It envokes strong emotions in people. This is his and MSI's art. I am more impressed with Jimmy's vocal range than the lyrics.

Now with MCR touring with them. I question it too. But again as I mentioned before, MSI is the anti-MCR. I find it an intriguing match. Was it responsible for MCR to put them on the set when they know they have young fans watching them? I don't know. Maybe they want their young fanbase to go away. I really hate saying that, because I know they love their fans, but it may be true. As adults it has to be annoying to be in Tigerbeat (or whatever the teens read now). I think they want to cause a stir and get back to being fucking hardcore. Yes, it was their fault for putting out their message so strongly. But then again, they came up during a weird time. Blogs, Myspace, and Fandoms. I do not think they understood how this bloody band from Jersey was going to end up as the major topic on the Web.

This is way to long. Sorry... I have more thoughts but I need to run away again.

Thank you GS and Entropy. I loved your sweet remarks when I was leaving and about my reading issues. *sends love*

My Black Parade costume marching band hat however, now that's a different story. I ordered it from the U.S. on Monday, it was sent by UPS the following day, and arrived in Toronto today. However, there was some sort of odd mix-up when the truck guy tried to deliver it. He must have gone to the wrong address, because even though he said he tried to give it to somebody, everyone at my work place swears he never showed up. I believe them. I then called UPS three times (they were supposed to call me back after my initial call, but didn't, then were supposed to respond to my second inquiry, but also didn't), trying to work out just wear my damned hat ended up. Seems it's back at their main Toronto office or something. I'm hoping for better luck tomorrow.

but in my mind I do not think they are so bad in the sense of their lyrics.

Man, I'm sorry, but "Five Year Old Panty Shot." End of conversation, because again, this isn'tabout how Ifeel about lyrics like this. It'sabout how Gerardhas always claimed--vehemently--to be against even milderlyricsthan ones like that. I don'tknow how I can say that any simpler or any more.

But again as I mentioned before, MSI is the anti-MCR. I find it an intriguing match.

It's not about being"intriguing." It's about the things that Gerard pretty much preached about for so long. But if by "intriguing" you mean "grossly obvious" then yeah, I agree.

Was it responsible for MCR to put them on the set when they know they have young fans watching them? I don't know.

Yeah?Because I do. It is the direct opposite of "responsible" to put them onstage in front of what they knowis a fanbase made largely of children. And remember: It was Gerard who said this:
"Unlike a good part of the artists, I think we have a very big responsibility, when it comes to the kids who listen to our music. Usually, people like to take refuge and say that all the responsibility, when it comes to raising kids, is up to the parents: honestly! When I was a kid, I didn’t listen to my father! The words that meant something to me were the ones from Billy Corgan and Glen Danzig."

Did you catch that key phrase in there? "We have a very big responsilility." I see no clause that says, "Unless I marry a bassguitarist of aband who writesabout five year old girls spreading their legs.In which case, disregard everything I've ever said."

Maybe they want their young fanbase to go away. I really hate saying that, because I know they love their fans,

Do you?Because I don't. At this point I don't think they have any thoughts on theirfans other than "keep buying our stuff."

Yes, it was their fault for putting out their message so strongly. But then again, they came up during a weird time. Blogs, Myspace, and Fandoms. I do not think they understood how this bloody band from Jersey was going to end up as the major topic on the Web.

Itdoesn'tmatter how "big" you think you're going to be; you don't change your fundemental values ofthings like "sexism, racism, violence and oh, say exploitation of childrenare bad things" just because you "came up at a weirdtime."

resurrected wreck said...

I count myself among the ones here who are upset about MSI touring with MCR. It has nothing to do with not liking MSI (which I don't, but I deal with that by simply not listening to them). It has to do with the clash of band philosophies. Everything MSI sings about is everything MCR has been fighting against since they first formed. These two bands should not be sharing a stage. By doing so, MCR are endorsing MSI's message, hence the accusation of hypocracy.

I believe that this joint tour would not be happening if Gerard had not married LynZ. And I believe that these days Gerard calls the shots in MCR.

Original Punk J said...

Hey Kapunua,

Just a little note from someone who's been exposed to the same kind of behavior that Gerard has displayed:

Keep in mind that all during the time he made these decisions, HE WAS DRUNK AND STONED. Obviously not a good time to make major decisions. And yes, I know that these decisions could have been overridden by a majority vote. However, it is very nearly impossible to reason with someone who's not thinking clearly. I mentioned in an earlier post that he showed similar characteristics to those of head-injured patients. Those folks have very limited reasoning skills due to trauma to the brain. Drink and drugs have the same effect.

This also may have been a "pick your battles" situation. We don't, and can't, know all the details such as contracts, bookings, etc. Yes, it's disheartening to see people that you've held in such high esteem fall into what seems like a pit of immorality. This is what we talked about before, when people put others on pedestals. No matter what kind of pedestal it is, it inevitably topples and the object of adoration crashes to the ground.

None of us want to hear MSI's lyrics. We don't have to listen to them. If the parents of the kids who are going to the shows don't want their kids listening, they will have to talk to their kids. Tell them to put their hands over their ears, turn around with their backs to the stage, leave the room, wear earmuffs, whatever. Make a statement. It is ultimately their responsibility. We've already seen that some venues were changed due to poor ticket sales. That's what will make the difference; actions speak louder than words.

More than likely, once Gerard was completely sober again, he saw what bizarre choices he's made and has been rectifying them. The first step, though, was to get him sober. Until then, no one could reason with him. What we have to deal with first is the person. Not the mistakes. Fix the person, then the problems. Sounds kinda simplistic, but that's how ALL therapy works. It's more important to have the person alive and sane. Nothing can be accomplished until that happens.

Thanks.

I think im just going to stick with what i said earlier. Everyone lies, everyones a hypocrite, everyones made mistakes and done regretful things.Even people we would least expect to. Its in the human DNA to do so.

Mayo,

My darling, I have not addressed you since the morning after FF2007. I hope all is coming up roses in your world and that your mood has not turned sour again. Me? Well, my mood seems to turn sour at least 16 times a day but that is what makes the sweet parts so much sweeter. Don't you agree? You have to go through the shit just so you can appreciate the good times...however, that doesn't mean we always have to treat people like shit. I'm still working on that last part....some people make it so damn hard to be nice to them. Oh well, Can't be great at everything. We will continue the constant inner battle with our demons and keep on keeping on. Moods will change as quickly as the Santa Ana winds. Of that much ,I am sure. But I am learning to accept my roller coaster of emotions...I hang on and enjoy the ride. It does have a tendancy to make everyone else nervous though. Awwh come on people, join us for the ride....Won't you? It's bound to get more interesting than this. Anticipation is the best part...that and the feeling you get in your stomach when you are flying down that hill. You know the one...where your stomach and heart feel like they are coming out of your throat! Whooosh! Hold on tight and don't close your eyes....You'll miss the best part!

Love to you always,
S

Keep in mind that all during the time he made these decisions, HE WAS DRUNK AND STONED.

Are you sure about that? Either way it sucks, and for as much as I hate the hypocrisy, I don't want to see himfail. I don'twant to see anyonefail.

Yes, it's disheartening to see people that you've held in such high esteem fall into what seems like a pit of immorality. This is what we talked about before, when people put others on pedestals.

I never had Gerard on a pedestal. He put himself there. For years all we heard wasthatMCR had a message,MCR wanted to be in your life,MCR wanted to save your life. Gerardput himself up there on that pedestal. Once you placeyourself up there, you lose the right to choose your terms. Plus it's tacky. Especially if you're lying about what you believethe entire time.

If the parents of the kids who are going to the shows don't want their kids listening, they will have to talk to their kids. Tell them to put their hands over their ears, turn around with their backs to the stage, leave the room, wear earmuffs, whatever. Make a statement. It is ultimately their responsibility.

THat's always been my stance:that is isthe parents'responsibility to understand what their children should or shouldn't be exposed to.It was Gerardwho took the opposite stance.

The first step, though, was to get him sober. Until then, no one could reason with him.

You're speaking as if you know thatGerardwasreally cooked out of hisskull when he pulled rank to get his wife'sband a tour with them, and also that he is sobernow. Do you knowsuch a thing? And ifit'strue that Gerard isbeginning to get well again, well hey:we still have to deal with this bollocksy tour.

Thanks for your perspective,though.

I suck at math, sdock. Out with it. ;D

I was into Bon Jovi when I was 14 (in 86,) also. My Da took me to my first concert, which was, in fact, Bon Jovi with Cinderella. It was at Nassau Coliseum and it was such a thrill. (And the coolest thing wasthat I recently took my goddaughter to her first concert, and she was 14 atthetime. It was 30 SecondstoMars. ^_^ )

Bon Jovi was my gateway drug for Def Leppard who was my gateway drug to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and basically I just went backintime after that. Stillhave such a major soft spot for everything by LEd Zeppelin. They were so fantastic. AMAAAAAAYYYZING, AMAAAAAYYYZING! El Oh El. >_>

Hiyo Mayo! Evening everyone!

Original PunksI got a good one for you.
I used to be a BSB fan when I was younger, and I had a poster of one of the boys on my wall. I also had a dog named Harley. This is important.

I wasn't feeling well one day, so I went to my room to take a nap. My bed used to be up against a wall, and the poster was hung right beside my bed.
Diagram:
[] <- Poster
------- <- Bed
So, I was snoozing and my dad was getting ready for a gig at the bar downtown, when the dog pushed open my bedroom door and saw a strange boy sitting on my bed.
He freaked.
I have never again seen this dog react like this, but he barked and barked and growled and RAN at the poster. This was especially amusing because I was half asleep when this maniac dog comes barreling in my room losing his cool.

My dad was laughing so hard he cut himself, because he'd been shaving in the bathroom adjacent.
