Mother Fucker that feels good.

It is down right impossible to kill the mood around here this fine evening. So, my intended post has been shelved for the time being. I am grateful for the distraction; my mood had drifted toward the foul. I am not my usual pretty princess self. You laugh...would you prefer The Queen? Quite honestly, I am like an unruly child.

Foolishly, I lost my temper. In an attempt to do far too many things at once, I allowed myself to snap under the pressure. The target of my destructive behavior, ever so graciously, allowed my rant without a challenge. And yes...as I know you will ask, I have apologized. I am truly sorry.

p.s. those dark moments back there cause me to pause and thank you.

So, I'm obviously the baby of this group. 23. Wasn't introduced to a lot of the hard rock, metal, punk stuff until my late teens. I reluctantly admit that my first infatuation with any group was New Kids, followed by *do'h* Nsync. I will surely die now.

With that said, I will defend myself on the latter of the two. I have the greatest amount of respect for any artist who is able to sing live. No matter how corporate they were, and how much Lou Pearlman MADE them who they were, they could still sing. And they could sing a cappella and do it fucking well. So, for no other reason, my liking that group was because of that.

After that, my infatuation turned to music in general. Any type of music, not certain groups, artists, or genres. If it was good, I liked it. But, I still have a soft spot for some old rock. I love practically every band that came out of the 60's and 70's and some of the 80's. So, I feel much like an old soul when it comes to music.

Fin.

And Tojours, you're right. I noticed that ESPECIALLY around older MCR fans, there seems to be fellow Durannies. Maybe there's something to this...

Simon- Gerard
John- Mikey
Frank- Nick
Ray- Andy
Roger- Bob

What do you guys think? :)

Peeps, I'm sorry. I never got into Duran Duran that much. Hungry Like a Wolf just always made me think of that movie with Farrah Fawcett where she shot her kids. They are pretty cool though. Simon was pretty sexy back in the day.

You are welcome. I personal think it would be more Gerard-John. they both went to art school, had those substance problems, and all the girls go wild for them.

Hi marthajones, I'm fine, guess I'm just ready to come out of my shell. My 9 year old daughter is a freak for it and can't wait for the Christmas special, mainly because she's obsessed with the Titanic. And I bet she's one of the few 9 year olds on the planet who knows the words to You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison. But she still yells "La, la La" over all the fucks in the other songs, cracks me up. I also have a 15 year old daughter, who I think is still pissed at me because I became obsessed with MCR and thus sucked all the cool out of them.

Carrie said...

Hi Vm, 40 isn't so bad, it's the new 30 for trees or something like that. I had these big elaborate plans for my birthday that included one of my best friends from out of town coming to visit and I was going to make her watch the LOTMS dvd, which was my birthday present to myself. But then, two weeks before my birthday, my frickin' back went out, and I spent the night hopped up on pain pills (but I still watched the dvd, just tortured my poor long-suffering husband instead). And I don't know what the point of this is. No, I take that back. 40 IS bad. I do kind of feel like the wheels fell off when I reached that milestone. But yet, I am still a 16 year old inside my head. How does that happen?

Carrie said...

And goodnight, VM.

Carrie,

I have no clue where the time has gone.

I do not mind at all turning 40. My husband, who just turned 36, likes to give me shit about it. But I do have to say this...I know myself better now than I ever have before. I do not give a shit about what anyone else thinks, and I love that part! As corny as this sounds, I really like who I am.

-VM, night for real this time.

ergoproxy said...

Entropy said...

Goodnight VM.

Carrie said...

Ergo, Davey Jones is definitely starting to look like a caricature of himself. Too much of the plastique. Sometimes I feel bad for celebrities because they feel compelled to stay "young" although everyone knows it's not real. Heck, my Mom (who just turned 63 and in my opinion is well preserved) got Botox, and in my opinion, it made her look like a bat. Even my kids noticed-what's wrong with Bobba's face? :)

Okay, I know no one is here, but I was catching up on posts, (gotta do something while I'm in New Orleans waiting to see Smashing Pumpkins Saturday night!) and I saw all the Duran Duran comments. I too, was a hardcore Durannie. They were my first concert in 1984, and I've seen them 8 times. I met them in 2004 and they were fantastic. Well, except for Andy, but that was right before he left again.
I had frosted hair in honor of John circa 1984, then took a step backward and had burgundy hair circa 1982.
I also had the brown tweed coat and RED gloves ala John in New Moon On Monday.
The connection between Duran fans and MCR fans is fascinating to me, but it makes sense.
My attachment to MCR is stronger though, because they are the first band who I felt like I could relate to and identify with. I wanted to make out with Simon LeBon, but I want to hang out, drink coffee and smoke cigarettes with Gerard, I want to watch Frank play the guitar. (okay, so maybe I'd want to make out with Frank, but that's neither here nor there), I want to watch Ray and Bob play Guiitar Hero, and I want to talk about Anthrax with Mikey.
I just genuinely like them as people, even though I don't know them in real life.
Did that make sense?
I hope so. I spent 7 hours in an airport, flew for 2 and 1/2 and can't sleep cause my hotel is on Bourbon Street, and yeah, well, it's on Bourbon Street.
Talk to all you groovy people tomorrow!

poor you elena! i feel so sick when i don't get enough sleep. i normally get about 5-6 hrs mainly cos i'm a bit of an insomniac and i have young kids that get up early. but an average of 3 hrs a night is horrible!! take care anyway and hope you make it through your day without dozing off!

Hello farawaysoclose, toujours, star and to everyone who is here!

star: NEVER stay at a hotel on Bourbon Street if you want to sleep. Tis nearly impossible, at least until sunrise!

The Dungeon is having their Halloween party tonight. Enter at your own risk *wink* and costume is required!

If you want to hear a great 70s/80s cover band, head out to The Famous Door. It's on Bourbon Street. You can't miss it. They'll be rocking!!!!

Sorry elena! Hello to you as well!

I leave and I miss a whole Duran Duran conversation!!!!!

All I saw was Frank could be Warren and Frank, like Nick looks better with make up than most people and I KNEW right away I missed me some Duranie-talk. :(

Meh, Farawaysoclose, it don't mind if you call me Black Flag or Black Jacket... both are good things :D.

To all you Aussie bloggers,

Just wanted to let you know that MSI will be touring Australia in February /March in the Soundwave festival with bands like Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Saosin, Kill Switch Engage, etc, just to many to list.

Guess it's our turn to experience their "music".

Anonymous said...

Hi Carrie and Welcome!

I too am a 40+ (42) year old MCR fan. I live vicariously through my 13 year old son rocking out to MCR. He thinks its cool; I actually turned him on to them. I am sure alot of his friends think I am out of my mind as well as their parents. Everyone here (Louisiana) is so conservative about music. I love them and have been a fan for 3 years. I buy the mcr parafanellia for my son and gaze at it while he is at school. Sad I know!!! They make me feel young again. I laughed my ass off with statement "sucked the coolness out of mcr." Priceless.

MCR is not just for kids. The 40 fan base is growing fast!!

Oh and yes 40 is the new 30, but better. I have never felt so alive and young. I am divorced and the guys that ask me out are in their late 20's (I am an uber cougar). I can't snag a 40 year old to save my life. But oh well I am not interested in getting married ever again. So lets just all have a good time.

Take care all

The 40 year old MCR fanbase is surely huge, i know alot of people in that age range who are just obsessed as a 15 year old would be.
I find that really awesome, that someone that age admits to liking bands like My Chem when most adults would find it disturbng XD

I have to say, the videos of the Maxwell, wow, such lucky bastards those people are. And the reviews are just amazing.
I think i watched the I Dont Love You one a million times, the crowd is just fantastic.

Anonymous said...

So many of you mention age that it got me thinking… (warning to ignore if you don’t know me, my thoughts are generally offensive.)

The members of the band are closer in age to those 40 year olds than they are to the young teens. I know from experience that many of the teenagers don’t even get the true point of the lyrics unless it’s explained to them. I appreciate the fact that MCR don’t make songs to simply bop your head to. There are bits of shared experience they willingly offer up hoping to leave a message with people of all ages. Older fans are their peers…

That being over-said (I do that) I am older and have my own teenager. He’s also a huge fan but only really cares about what Ray does. According to him, he’s God-like. I’m glad we have something in common.

Anonymous said...

Depends on the teenager itself. True, their are the teenagers that dont even bother to understand the pure meaning behind a song but then their are many teenagers who believe the meaning is the most important aspect.
Whenever i listen to a song by MCR, or any other artist for that matter, i try to conjure up the meaning becuase it makes listening to it more enjoyable. Probably the reason why i can connect with them so much is because i experienced 9/11 firsthand, and knowing that band evolved form that made me love them.
But people in their age range probably connect with them more

elena said...

The music of MCR touches people from all age groups. That is their true gift. I'm in my 40's and put up with a lot of shit from people my age who refuse to look beyond their appearence. They are blinded to the fact that the music is what my love for them is based on. Yeah, I ain't gonna lie they are easy on the eye but there are so many artists that fit that catagory. The music, the message, it's what draw me to them.

Loli Lovette said...

G'morning everyone!

Yeah....I get a lot of people laughing at me for what I'm into because it's older than I am. Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie, The Cure...Older stuff. It's a hardcore scene here though, so my love of Black Flag and Minor Threat and Bad Brains is generally praised.

Anonymous said...

Hi, Guys! I just dropped in for a minute. I'm sure I missed something exciting in my absence.

Elena, I know how you feel about other people in our age bracket thinking you're nuts for liking this band. One of my friends can't ever remember their name so he calls them "The Hyperdermic Needles".

As much as I'd like, I can't stay. I am going to pick my car up from the shop - finally!

They cancelled the Maine show.

What the fuck is wrong now?

Anonymous said...

Is there a video of the Maxwell's show?

Anonymous said...

BTW, I've been thinking...

I think we really should make up some T-shirts for ourselves. On the front, we could have a jar of mayonnaise, but with a door, like it is a building and the words, "MAYO CLINIC". and then on the back, "Home of Fuck Fest 2007".

Of course we would wear them to any MCR shows - and then we could recognize each other. That would be cool!

Anonymous said...

OK, I just watched the "I don't love you video on youtube. Gerard did that little Elvis lip curl thing he does in the beginning.
Looks like a great show. Yeah, I'm jealous too.

Anonymous said...

wait what? They didnt cancel any shows so i have no idea where you heard that

Where did you hear they canceled the show?

Anonymous said...

gerard had something written on his arm last night. does anyone know what it said.

Anonymous said...

Maine wasn't cancelled. Don't make up shit, geek wad.

Anonymous said...

"Ok, so this is the second time you have called off a show in maine..."

"why did you cancel the show on the 27th?
I heard someone got hurt..."

"We hear it's been cancelled, just an hour ago."

Anonymous said...

Geek wad?
Real mature.

Anonymous said...

Making up LIES just to start RUMOURS is immature, geek.

Anonymous said...

I didn't say that shit,I'm just repeating what people have said.
Calling people names is immature.

Anonymous said...

You repeated it as FACT. There's a difference between:

"They cancelled the Maine show."

and

"Someone just rumoured that the Maine show is cancelled."

That's how rumours get started, fan girl.

Anonymous said...

What the hell, why are you people fighting. Both of you are immature end of story.

So the whole Maine thing, does anyone have things the Band has said, not comments people have left on their myspace because thats not proof. Like an actual statement from the band that its canceled.

-Gel

Anonymous said...

Hey, if you don't want to belive it,fine by me. I was just letting these people know what I've read.

Anonymous said...

No, Gel, that's why it's called a RUMOUR.

Anonymous said...

Yes i know its rumour but its not like a couple of people are just going to pull shit out of their ass, it must have came from somewhere and thats what im asking for.

But yet again, people do like pulling shit out of their asses

Just a quick hello.

Evening Mayo.

Yep, 38 here. Listen to eveything.

I live in quite a Goth/ Punk / Rock stronghold, can't move in town for black!

Know a lot of ' oldies ' with similar tastes and am considered by my daughter's friends to be uber cool, as I know who they all talk about and we all discuss which bands to go and see.

Might catch you all later, I'm off out.

Paperheart, have a great time!

Lolita Haze, love the music taste.

AIP, I'll see your eyebrow and raise you a smirk.

So, if someone is having "medical issues" then why aren't they canceling the show with Bon Jovi tonight?

This band makes no sense at all anymore.

Anonymous said...

The Bon Jovi concert is important, and big, they couldnt cancel that one.
Either a member is sick or all this performing is making them sick and tired and they cant handle it. But we'll see. Truthfully, a lot of bands do this, so its nothing to get your undies in a twist over
but i feel sorry for Maine since its happened twice to them already

Good evening Mayo.

Good evening everyone here present.

In this weeks' kerrang there is a review of an MSI gig.

All you people who didn't like the thought of them getting exposure because of the "marriage" look away now.

They are referring to the band as Mrs Gerard Way & co. They call Lynz Mrs Gerard Way all the time, they only call her her real name once.

Anonymous said...

All this performing?
They've just had almost 2 months off.
It has to be somone sick, but then, that wouldn't expalin why they can play today.
I heard it's Bob.

Anonymous said...

It isn't Bob, it's Gerard.

sister midnite said...

Been a couple of days, but I'm baaaaaack!! Did anyone miss me? :D

**cricket sounds**

Okay, so you guys were discussing music...

I liked Duran Duran for a little while, before I got into Motley Crue & "Shout At The Devil". (I was 12 in 1983.) After I heard that, it was 80's metal & hair bands all the way. I also like old Cure, Siouxsie, the Sex Pistols, Bauhaus, NIN, Coal Chamber, and about a zillion other bands. One of my newer faves is London After Midnight, they're pretty incredible. Also a lot of indie stuff, because of my damn musician friends. What can I say, I have the whole goth/glam fetish goin' on. ^_~

My turn to rant about the MCR/MSI thing. I agree with Kapunua 100%. Gerard spoke so often and so repeatedly about MCR's message, and about how they didn't want to be like so many 'shitty-ass 80's bands'. Said 80's bands may be meatheads, but they don't pretend to be anything else. MSI likes to pretend that they mean something, when they don't -- all they demonstrate (IMO, anyway) is an amaaaaazing lack of talent. Bands like MSI are not new, they're not different, and (again, IMHO) they don't have anything worthy to say. For MCR to be taking MSI on tour after Gerard spoke so hard against bands with the same image & meaning is just plain hypocritical. If I was forced to draw a comparison, I'd say it would be like Gerard preaching against Catholicism after he married the Pope. Maybe his wife didn't write MSI's lyrics (TBH, I doubt she'd be smart enough), but she plays in that band, so she obviously doesn't have the same so-called 'message'.

As much as I love MCR, Gerard seems to have changed his mind about a rather large number of things over the last year. Yes, people change, but our moral & ethical codes are hard-wired, for the most part. If you're a hardcore vegetarian and you marry an omnivore, do you all of a sudden tell people that meat is great? No. So why should Gerard be any different? And if the other guys don't agree, why have they gone along with it? Is Gerard such a whiny little diva that people will go along with his wishes at any cost, just so he won't get pissed off??? (And lemme just say that if he is, Anon @ 5:28 PM yesterday's little scenario may be played out in the form of a serious ass-kicking! The man could stand to be taught a couple of things, really.)

As for the Maxwell's review, it was really nice to read. It'd be nice to read a review from someone older and less likely to squee quite so much, but hey - positive is positive, right?

Back to work for me, and please don't tell Dr. Nut I found the footballs! (Just explaining why I might be running a curve pattern on the kickball field later. ^_~ )

Anonymous said...

Well, Kerrang is a bullshit magazine so im not surprised. Its not Gerard's fault though, that people cant realize Gerard and Lyn-z are two separate fucking entities and even though their married doesnt mean they are attached in every way possible.
The media fucking pisses me off, their only doing it to get more money.

So how do we know who's sick?

Anonymous said...

Hi guys!

anon, how do you know it's Gerard the one who's sick or hurt?

MissTottenham said...

I just thought I'd share that with people to see what they thought.

I know how you all like to know what's going on.

Anonymous said...

Haha, i sound pretty pissed in my post but seriously, the media needs to fucking stop with all its bullshit. Goddamit

Do i think Gerard is a hypocritical lier? Fuck yeah i do.
Same can be said for Ray, Mikey, Frank and Bob and basically every other person on the face of the earth because I've learned to realize every human being is a hypocritical lier, and its nothing we can change. Yes our moral and ethical codes are hard- wired, but things like these we can never avoid even through vigorous tries.

What im trying to basically say is that whats going on doesnt shock me or bother me at all. I havent lost any respect or love for this band because growing up i realized that all people are like this, and it shouldnt come as a suprise what people do.

Life is fucked up and so are the people in it.

The term 'medical issue' is perhaps slightly misleading but I guess it is fair to say that, to a certain extent, it is not completely untrue.
