Terminus

Seventeen years had passed since their admission, supine, hands clasped. The moment paused and rewound so many times it has begun to slip and slur. Yet it remains solid, holding down everything from that time, forward. It is the ground to which any path may be traced.

It is far from nothing.

They were alone, their easy banter quickly escalating to hysteria. It was cast. He pressed his words between their laughter, hoping that the weight of their meaning may be buoyed by the mirth of the spell. As he had hoped, they had caught her off guard. And, she swallowed her response, continuing to laugh as if what he said was part of the folly.

It is easier to disbelieve.

Then he turned to her and she found the truth in his eyes. He wanted to take it back; he did take it back. While she held her breath and hoped that she could find her words, and that they wouldn’t sound ridiculous in the wake of her stay, he had let his words disintegrate.

The moment was gone.

In an instant, fear can consume you. It can make you refrain from disclosure, from the truth. You may hold your tongue or reel in its wag. Once it is fixed, fear can thrive in you for years, feeding off of regret, recycling into a fierce energy…anger.

It can destroy.

Or you may gain experience, chalk it up to another missed cue. You can allow yourself to forgive, provide another the opportunity to atone. Understand that when acknowledged, fear can guide you. You can turn it around and fear can provide additional strength to push you beyond previous expectations, to rise above limitations.

What has become of them?

Over 2500 miles travelled between the lines, their lives. They both stand as a movable marker for a moment, a slide rule for a decision. They are not broken, but both are damaged. Each has a life filled with family, friends, knowledge, achievements, and failed attempts. Of course, there is a portion of their lives of which the other is aware, a fraction that they speculate. But, neither knows that the other will occasionally recall that moment, reflecting on, but never regretting, its purpose.

Let's move on to Heavy Metal and the bro dudes now.

Some heavy metal fans could have a problem with the whiney little emo fans invading their bro dude space at festivals. They could push and shove and throw bottles of piss without ever stopping to listen and hear what was really being said or played.

Would that be right? No. It wouldn't. So much would be missed just because they weren't interested in hearing anything other than their own genre's music. Their own party's line.

Anonymous said...

How about Country Music and Hip Hop?

Who wants to discuss the great divide there?

Only there really isn't such a great divide.
People all over the world, of every party, race, religion, creed, music genre fan and affiliation want the same thing.

They want to heard. They want to be respected. They do not want to be automatically written off because of the people and the party they came into the building with.

Get it? I hope you do.

MY thoughts and prayers are with all of those in need today.

Ohhhh! I just youtubed searched "Nine Inch Nails/Voodoo Fest" thanks to Ergo (somehow) reminding me of Trent Reznor and guess what the first video that popped up in the search results was? Go ahead. Guess!

Can't? Too bad, cause it's a great Trent Reznor/NIN song!

;P

~~WISH NIN live at Voodoo 2008! ~~

Of course, my PERSONAL favorite performance from that night would have to be:

~~CLOSER Live at Voooo Fest 2008 ~~

Just 'cause!

:P

Hell. Where the heck have the 3 years since then gone?

Welshie said...

The rescue attempt is still going ahead. They're pumping out water from the mines and trying to contact the miners. They've been trapped for 14 hours. One man managed to escape before the mine flooded, however he's in critical condition. I just hope that they can be brought out safely.

Thanks Wendy and Ergo for taking the time to think about them and their families.

Goodnight.

Okay, after having watched all of her own Trent Reznor/NIN videos from VOODOO 2008, Mr. Trent Reznor/NIN is simply going to have to make a comeback soon. The ROCK world needs him and his musical genius! Really, really, REALLY needs him! NOW more than ever.

We can't let that torch go out. This situation is not much different from what the music industry faced in the 90's. SHOW them what's next...

It's more than a "sound" or a "look". It's more than image and genre, People are looking for something deeper. They're searching for a feeling. Comfort, hope, escape...

Anything that takes them away from the cold, harsh truths of reality these days. If only for 3 or 4 minutes.

Scy~fy METAL!!!! That's what the world needs!!!!!

Ummm...

I know it's not always easy. God knows that I'm still trying to understand why my big brother isn't here, on this earth, anymore...

I often wonder how many children he would have by now. He loved kids and was looking forward to being a dad. One of the lat conversations we had was about his gf at the time and how he didn't think that she was the "right one". The one to be the mother of his four children. That's what he wanted. Four children, 3 dogs and 2 cats! And, to never be "at sea" and have to miss a JAZZ FEST.

He would have been a wonderful father. I know, because I Know that he was the best big brother in the world...

28 years old. So much promise. Such a bright future ahead of him. Who dies at 28?

The few regrets I have in life all involve him. My big brother. My only brother

How could I have been so damn selfishly wrapped up in my own life that I missed going to his last aJazz Fest with him? How could I have missed his first and last memorial day party at his dream house in Mississippi because my bf at the time wanted me to spend the weekend with him? How could I not have taken more than 2 pictures that 4th of July or more than 5 pictures that Labor day weekend?

How could I not have known that my beautiful brother was just on loan. That he would be taken from me, from us all. I should have known. I should have stopped it. Somehow...

I hope the families of your miners never have to feel that they should have known or that they should have been able to stop it. I hope and pray that all of them survive and thrive.

Thank you for the song link, Anon616. I will have a listenfor sure! And I'm sorry you are struggling with thoughts of your brother tonight. I think loss like that is something few people understand or are able to move past quickly. No need to rush, just take your time and enjoy the memories of him. But don't let them hold you back from living the life you are meant to live. Something tells me your brother wouldn't appreciate that.

(Hello, 1:27.) :)

Why so aggro, Political Anon? I didn't aim to offend. I personally find any party completely full of sh*t. I don't have any faith in the Dems, at least not the current ones as they have let every human right I've felt was most dire to this counrty, be sold or dumped -at the cost of human lives. Women'e Rights, Gay Marriage, real healthcare for all ages, no longer any concern for the vastly out of control climate problems, education. (And quite a bit of other things, as you shared here.) I have no faith in any of them. But I sincerely do not respect any person who feels these things are NOT a right, or part of a deep responisbility of human life, and the life of this planet -therefor, I do not hold with the Rep Party. Who very plainly lets it be known that they do not feel these rights are in fact -rights. I would scarcely believe a Rep who says otherwise. But given my opinion (earlier) of the current state, I would have thought my feeling towards the Dems right now would be understood as very much the same. I'm sorry to have riled you, anon. And there was no need to break it down in laymans's terms. I understood you just fine. If there was a candidate who held the same belief's and conviction as I do, despite their party, I would most definitely consider voting them into power. However, I have little faith any of them would matter now, as I feel once one of those in power take away a liberty, it is rarely even thought of. And even more rarely brought back. I have no expectations for any candidate. But I would certainly like to be surprised.

Welshie, I am so sorry for those men. My thoughts and prayers are with them. Please keep us posted here, as long as you can. It didn't seem like they would ever recuse all those men trapped in Chile, Welshie. But they did. Don't give up hope yet. Sometimes it is astounding what people can do now, and how far they are willing to go to save each other. Fingers crossed for them, Welshie. ♥

I hope everyone is having nice evening. :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Who? Me? I'm usually talkative! Especially when there are folks around to talk to, convserse with and so forth!
If you were around in the early days of this blog you might have read a comment I posted about being able to talk about a stick for two hours or so.
You know... the stick would lead to a forest which would lead to a tree which would lead to paper which would lead to books which could lead to Twain and the River and saving the wet lands!
Yep. Sticks are GREAT conversation starters!
As are marshmallows! I think one of our anons mentioned them.
Well, you need a STICK to roast a marshmallow over an open fire! If you have graham crackers and chocolate bars you can make smores!
Smores just beg for the telling of campfire ghost stories... or, at least, a boring lesson in the history of chocolate!
Anon616 said...
You know, with all my "talking", wishing, praying and thinking tonight, I completely forgot about the fact that I originally came in to 'b*tch out' DOWN !
Really, DOWN? Really? Really Philip Anselmo? Really? Playing Southport Hall on the same weekend as VOODOO FEST? Really?
Well, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Yeah. I really appreciate that one! Grrrr....
:P
PS: Congratulations AGAIN to PEPPER KEENAN and KIRK WINDSTEIN of DOWN for being named Metal Hammer's 2011 RIFF LORD(S)!!!!!
It's just been confirmed that unfortunately one of the miners has been found dead. He's not been identified as they can't reach the body because of debris. They're still hopefull that the other three can be rescued.
Wendy I’m sorry my comment brought back such painful memories for you. As I read your words I could feel your pain and regret. Losing people you love is bloody hard.
A big *hug* to you Wendy.
Welshie said...
9:20, I know the first part of your comment was for Wendy, but tell me what if you can’t move on in life? What then? Family and friends think that I coped so well after my parents died. There were no tears or tantrums. What they don’t realise is that their early deaths determine every decision I make in life.
Welshie said...
Possum, I've just been watching the All Blacks vs Japan game. Congratulations, very impressive win. I know Nigel Owens the referee. He's a top bloke:)
One more thing, the NZ choir that sang the national anthem, omg, how amazing were they? Goosebumps!
My only claim to fame is that I sang the Welsh national anthem with my choir at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff before a rugby match. I had goosebumps that day as well, not because of our amayyyzing singing, but because I was freezing me arse off!
Anonymous said...
Oh, Welshie. I am sorry. I think you just take it day by day. I think moving past our grief is usually for the benefit of those around us. Most of us don't have the private time to really feel the pain, to really mourn, because we don't want to further upset our other loved ones who are mourning too. I think some people are just going to be with us, affecting us, whether they are alive beside us, or not. I do understand. And I am sorry you feel the way you do, Welshie. Maybe instead of feeling like grief motivates your decisions, think instead that you living your life, and making the decisions that most make you happy -is another way to honor your parents. Not mourn them.
You don't have to let them go. Ever. You can take them with you everywhere you go. But make sure there is still a way to honor yourself as well, Welshie. To make yourself happy. To do the things you really want to do. Live as you wish too. It's not easy to do that for most people, but with loss it is even harder. Sometimes it hurts too much to remeber why you are even getting up out of bed. But you can't not try, Welshie. I don't think your parents would want you to live that way. Do you?
Honor them, cry for them, make the decisions you think would make them proud, but never forget who you are, and what you want in life too. And try to always reach for it. I think that's what our loved ones would want most for us, for us to just live and try to be happy. It's not a race, and there is no way to lose. You just take the days as they come, and do what you can. Just try. Hugs to you, Welshie. :)
They've found two more bodies. One of the men was apparently just minutes from safety when he was overwhelmed by a tide of water as he tried to flee. It’s just too awful to think of the terror they all faced. Things look bleak for the fourth miner.
8:08, how kind of you to leave me such a wonderful and positive comment. It really made me feel better. I wouldn't say that I'm still grieving but I am aware of how fragile life can be. My parents died within months of each other when they were both in their late 30's. I have very few memories of them but the ones I do remember are very special to me. I often wonder what they’d think of me. Would I be a disappointment to them?
Please don’t get me wrong anon, I’m not unhappy, not at all. I’m a happy little soul. I’m quite content with my lot. I have a good life, I’m healthy, and I’m surrounded by family and friends. It’s just that hearing the fate of the poor miners really upset me today especially as my dad was from the South Wales Valleys.
Thanks again for your lovely words.
Horrible tragic accident in Reno, thoughts with everyone and all the emergency workers and health professionals trying to cope.
Anonymous said...
Welshie, I apologize for not replying sooner. I have just returned home from a funeral. It was a very long day. But I wanted to make sure you know that reading you here, you have always seemed like a very happy and loving person. And I have absolutely no doubt that you're parents would be, and are still, very proud of you, Welshie. No doubt whatsoever. :)
That is such a tragedy, to lose those men, when they were so close to being rescued. But after the day I have had, I can say now I understand two good things to come from loss. One, the person you lose is no longer in any pain. They are simply free from it now. And that can't be something bad, or something to cry over. We never want our loved ones to suffer. And two, from loss so many people come together. And it's beautiful to see how many others have been touched by that one person. It's a miracle really. It almost feels wrong to mourn for someone, when you are standing in an ocean of their loved ones, surrounded in all the love they had for this person, and all the joy they brought to each others lives.
I hope for those men, and for anyone else who loses someone, that they all get to feel that celebration of the people they have lost. Because standing in that, surrounded by it, it doesn't feel like that person is gone. It feels like they are just everywhere now.
I hope everyone is having a nice evening.
And Welshie, you have a very good point, success isn't measured by qualifications. That's a brilliant way to put it. I am at fault for thinking wrong on that as well. And I believe, so many others are also. I promise to work on that too!
Oh, and the video 1:15 posted is a fascinating little piece, of 13 little doggies (with some fabulous hair) jumping rope together (it is a very long rope, mind!). And they look to be having a grand ole time! Apparently it broke a Guinness World Record?? It's very silly, but we can all use some silly sometimes! Good morning Ergo, and everyone else passing through. Oh, and you to Mayo if browsing or not. =)
Welshie, well done to your team, lassie! I think that we in the stadium felt every tackle in the game against Samoa. Absolutely bruising. Your number 12 was outstanding! What the cameras never showed was that, away from the play, it looked like a battlefield with players lying in agony all over the field.
BTW the stadium had a red carpet for your Welsh supporters to walk down! Lots of daffodil and dragon heads, and leek carriers using it. I hope your friends had a good time.
And your ref friend is so amazingly brave. He's great. =)
Ireland beating Aussie was a bit of an upset, eh what? O_o
Right. Enough of the rugby!
You're no idiot, PP! That is a stunning acoustic! Who knew the screamo could pull that off so well! I wonder if this means he might branch out and do something like that with Linkin Park. I feel for bands like that, it's something very brave. Some fans of that genre seem to get really upset when their bands try to do something with more depth than screamin and rockin! It will be interesting to see what develops. Props to Adele for bring it out in people! (I don't know how to comment on the sports chat. Sorry!) :(
That was very sweet, 1:44/2:10. I'm sure everyone appreciates it. Especially those of us who can't see it as clearly. :)
Ah, Welshie I've heard of Black Bart! That's too cool! Of course, now piracy is rather scary! But back then it seemed more like an adventure and a stand against "The Man," than violence and pillage, haha! Pirates always seemed to me to be the most obviously fearless in being who (and what) they wanted in life. But that may be just a little bit more romantic than true! I will have to rent Loaf and Death, I'd never heard of that one! I believe they are the same company that did Chicken Run, yes? Although I like to believe Wallace and Gromit are based on real, er, people! :D
I hope everyone is having a nice evening. Goodnight!
hiya PP! I saw a bit of rugby on the weekend as hubby was watching it, but then he switched to league in disgust at Oz playing (and I use that term loosely) Ireland lol
Anonymous said...
I promise I'll watch it, Ergo! I came back to ask you, wasn't there a famous/legendary Oz priate who's remains were found? Sometime over the last few years? Or they were hoping it was him? It seemed like all of Oz was so excited at the prospect! I had hoped it was true!
Ok, that was all I came back to say! Goodnight again! :)
Yep. I do have an opinion on Troy Davis and his execution.
Welshie said...
No opinions on Troy Davis?
There's been very little coverage of the case in the UK. I knew nothing about it until it was brought up here. I'm against the death penalty.
Ergo, I'm watching the Australia vs USA rugby match. Oz are leading at the mo. Bloody exiting match. Hey, Nigel Owens is the ref! Woo hoo! Go Nige:)
You have to watch The Great British Bake Off. It's fantastic. Do you have BBCiplayer? I'm not usually a lover of cookery programmes but I'm totally hooked on this. oh and Downton Abbey is back for a second series. Love, love, love it. You must watch it. Dame Maggie Smith at her very best.
Elena, good to see you again. I've missed seeing you around. I hope everything is ok with you.
PP, my friends are back some time this week. I'll be sure to ask them about their trip to NZ.
I was very impressed with Linkin Park's version of Adele's song. I absolutely adore Adele. My fave at the mo is Turning Tables
No need for half naked dancers or crotch flashing. Pure talent. Class act.
hey Welshie
I didn't watch the game but hubby did & saw the bits on the news just now, bit of a massive stonking walk over, but then the US isn't exactly known for it's rugby lol
I did see Great British Bake-Off!! It was on here a month or so ago,last years series obviously, I loved it, amazing stuff some of them created, and looked so delicious. You could really see how much they all loved baking as well, and how devastated when things didn't work. Got some ideas from it too.I will be watching when this current one is shown, we have Great British Menu starting up after Celeb Masterchef, I don't mind that one either.
We can't get the iBBC player here though, I tried with another show but we do get a lot of UK shows which is great.
Dear Wife, I’m writing you this letter to tell you that I’m leaving you forever. I’ve been a good man to you for 7 years & I have nothing to show for it. These last 2 weeks have been hell. ... Your boss called to tell me that you quit your job today & that was the last straw. Last week, you came home & didn’t even notice I had a new haircut, had cooked your favorite meal & even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You ate in 2 minutes, & went straight to sleep after watching all of your soaps. You don’t tell me you love me anymore; you don’t want sex or anything that connects us as husband & wife. Either you’re cheating on me or you don’t love me anymore; whatever the case, I’m gone. Your EX-Husband P.S. don’t try to find me. Your SISTER & I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life!
Anonymous said...
Dear Ex-Husband Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter. It’s true you & I have been married for 7 years, although a good man is a far cry from what you’ve been. I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your constant whining & griping Too bad that doesn’t work. I DID notice when you got a hair cut last week, but the 1st thing that came to mind was ‘You look just like a girl!’ Since my mother raised me not to say anything if you can’t say something nice, I didn’t comment. And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I stopped eating pork 7 years ago. About those new silk boxers: I turned away from you because the $49.99 price tag was still on them, & I prayed it was a coincidence that my sister had just borrowed $50 from me that morning. After all of this, I still loved you & felt we could work it out. So when I hit the lotto for 10 million dollars, I quit my job & bought us 2 tickets to Jamaica But when I got home you were gone.. Everything happens for a reason, I guess. I hope you have the fulfilling life you always wanted. My lawyer said that the letter you wrote ensures you won’t get a dime from me. So take care. Signed, Your Ex-Wife, Rich & Free! P.S. I don’t know if I ever told you this, but my sister Carla was born Carl. I hope that’s not a problem....
I'm leaving you because you suck in every way but the right way.
I know it's not entirely your fault. You were bottle fed instead of breast fed. Still, you should have have picked some lessons up from the streets. You should know when to lick, when to flick, when to suckle and when to suck like your life depends on it.
I've tried to teach and guide you. I've muzzled you, harnessed you, tasered you, clipped your tongue and clipped your ear just for fun. You just don't get it. I'm gone.
It is if you're not honest about it. It always has been bad if you try to deceive. Lying to yourself is one thing. When you bring other people into it (a wife, husband,children) it becomes a selfish act of deceit.
That is bad. That is wrong.
How do people become so unattached from reality?
How do they convince themselves that their delusions are real? That those delusions are shared?
Don't they have friends and family members who will try to help them? Who will try to reach them before they are lost in their delusions forever?
Does it all come down to cowardice and fear? Do we really value the friendship more than we value the person and their mental well being? Are we that selfish in today's society? Can we call ourselves real friends if we contribute to the delusion?
I think this is something we need to think about.
Hoorah for summer dresses and cute sandals! Pity us poor sods in the UK who never got to wear them this Summer. 'Twas wellies, kagools and thermal pants in our neck of the woods. Bloody fed up with the British weather. Paid 99p for a disposable bbq. Every time I got me sausages out, the bloody sun disappeared. Every bloody time!
What the hell has the sun got against us poor Brits eh, that's what I'd like to know!
Answers on a postcard please.
Speaking of sausages, I've been lying on the couch, mug of strong tea in one hand, sausage sandwich in the other, watching my boys play rugby. Life's not that bad after all :)
Really wish I had because so far the prices for pumpkins I've seen in the stores is crazy. Guess it has something to do with the weather this year. Oh well.
Welshie, glad to see you are enjoying your sausage sandwich. Hope whatever you face these next few weeks goes smoothly.
You've got the music in you
One dance left
This world is gonna pull through
Don't give up
You've got a reason to live
Can't forget
We only get what we give
I'm coming home baby
You're tops, Give it to me now
Four a.m. we ran a miracle mile
we're flat broke but hey we do it in style
The bad rich
God's flying in for your trial
But when the night is falling
You cannot find a friend, friend
You feel your dream is breaking
Just bend
(chorus)
This whole damn world can fall apart
It'll be ok, follow your heart
You're in harms way I'm right behind
Now say you're mine
Hi, everyone!!!! How are you all doing? I just wanted to drop in and share the story of Steve Gleason with you all. If any of you watched the Saints vs. Texans game, Sunday, you might have seen/heard mention of him. He served as a ceremonial team captain for the Saints.
Well, this is his story... so far.
~~~I want to be the hero,

I'm not used to being saved.

I want to throw the life boat at you,

What an inspiration he is! An inspiration to never give up. To never stop doing all the things you love to do as long as you are able to do them. To never, ever stop enjoying life and savoring the moment. To take the time to look around and be grateful for all the "little" things so many of us, so often, take for granted.

I just wanted to share that, today. I hope you're all having a good one (day, that is)!
