guts

It is interesting when you get a fresh perspective of yourself from a new acquaintance. Even at this reasonably accomplished age, I am still able to find myself anew.

Recently, I have been fortunate to gain the friendship of an interesting character. A smart, quick-witted, young “old chap” of a guy whose creativity and open-minded ideals speak volumes for his generation. At his age I was not nearly as wise, worldly, cultured, present, or relevant as he is. Even now his intellect far exceeds my own, and his ability to perceive others astounds me. He is very deliberate with his words, often taking what seems to me to be far too long to respond to my often off-kilter banter. But always following his reflection, he delivers an astute, provocative discourse on whatever topic I had mindlessly rambled into. Seriously, the guy can talk me under the table…and that is saying something.

And I must admit he is a bit off, as well. Regardless, or perhaps in spite of those facts, I find him very interesting.

As it goes with most new friendships there is the crush period. The time where everything about the new friend is fascinating and we often try to find a bit of ourselves in our new pal. And so my new friend has attempted to find fascination in me, and has asked for the privilege (his term, not mine) of reading some of my writing. I initially waved him off, figured he would find what he wanted or give up. But, after the third very polite request, I obliged.

It is strange; I can write for an unknown audience without fear. I can put it out there for the world to read, all of it…without a second thought. Yet when I directly hand over a few poems to my new friend, I am paralyzed.

As I said, my new friend is very perceptive. So, when I stuffed a few of my poems in his hand and continued on about the weather, he immediately detected my insecurity. He saw in my rushed speech and downcast eyes that I was nervous. And while I waited for him to speak, to interrupt my prattle, I reeled. He placed the pages face down on the table, then said “Ah yes, I see I was correct. You are an exhibitionist and shy, both.”

Which really put me to thought…what purpose am I serving with these characteristics, if characteristics do in fact serve us?

I suppose that those opposing characteristics, that in my case are so apparently extreme, benefit each other. I can only imagine that my unchecked exhibitionism would undoubtedly lead me to my depraved end, and that my need to slap the world in the face keeps me from becoming a total shut-in.

p.s. what you got in you; what it takes.

I think 5.43 could be Mayo and 6.39 might be SS. I can imagine SS with his earphones in singing out loud to Sexy Back and busting some moves while everyone around him looks at him like he's insane.

Mayo
A man in a pub asks for a beer.
The barman says, "Sure, that'll be one dollar."
"One dollar?" exclaims the man. Reading the menu, he says, "Could I have steak and chips?"
"Certainly," says the barman, "that'll be two dollars."
"Two dollars?" cries the man. "You're joking. Where's the guy who owns this place?"
The barman says, "Upstairs, with my wife"."
The man says, "What's he doing upstairs with your wife?"
The barman says, "The same thing I'm doing to his business."

SS
A stranger was seated next to a blonde on the airplane when the stranger turned to her and said, 'Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.
The blonde, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to the stranger,
- 'What would you like to talk about?'
- 'Oh, I don't know, said the stranger. 'How about nuclear power?' and he smiles.
- OK, ' she said. 'That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first.
A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass - Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?'
The stranger, visibly surprised by the blonde's intelligence, thinks about it and says,
- 'Hmmm, I have no idea....'
To which the blonde replies,
- 'Do you really feel qualified to discuss nuclear power when you don't know shit?'

hi wendy from the last page, hope you have a good sunday but
why would anyone own up? That's no fun, we should just be given more clues like 5:59 suggested until someone figures it out

so, unguessed people, how about 10 more songs?

Hello Everyone

Well I’ve gone from about 14 hrs without a pain pill and I’m feeling pretty good. I really hope this means the antibiotic has kicked in and the pain will stay away. I mean come on, I gotta be able to chew on Thanksgiving. Don’t want no pureed turkey. LOL

You know for the past few days I’ve mostly slept and watched TV. Holy crap is there anything Bear Grylls won’t eat? I’d have to be pretty hungry to eat deer droppings. And thanks to Fred who bought “Top Chef Season 5” on DVD I’ve gotten to watch most of the season that I missed. Man, Carla is a hoot (hootie hoo). I really like watching episodes back to back without commercials.

So now for the ultimate test to see if I’m really feeling better I’m gonna take my mom to the grocery story for her Thanksgiving supplies.

Hope everyone has a great day. Catch you all later.

Come baby, find me, come baby, remind me of where I once begun
Come baby, show me, show me you know me, tell me you're the one
I could be learning, you could be yearning to see behind closed door
But I will always be emotionally yours.

Come baby, rock me, come baby, lock me into the shadows of your heart
Come baby, teach me, come baby reach me, let the music start
I could be dreaming but I keep believing you're the one I'm living for
And I will always be emotionally yours.

It's like my whole life never happened
When I see you, it's if I never had a thought
I know this dream, it might be crazy
But it's the only one I've got. Okay.

Come baby, shake me, come baby, take me, I would be satisfied
Come baby, hold me, come baby, help me, my arms are open wide
I could be unraveling wherever I'm traveling, even to foreign shores
But I will always be emotionally yours.

mayo,

well, it's way past time for me to be in bed, if i'm to have any chance at being coherent in the morning, that is.

but i was re-reading your post, and i have to admit that it keeps giving me grins. you have all these elegant, descriptive thesaurus words, and scattered in among them, like sparrows in the gardens at versailles, are words like "pal".

*grin*

i really like that. i don't know why, i suppose it's the contrast, but i just like how you fit words together. it's a pleasure to read at every level.

and i thank you for that.

good night, mayo. hope your monday is a fine one, and sweet dreams to get you there.

Okay so going without pain pills didn’t quite work out. And I’m sure it had nothing to do with spending the day with Mom. LOL Actually we had a nice day together but by late afternoon my jaw was throbbing again. So naturally I took a pain pill and sleep followed. Now I’m up again because it’s time to take another pill. I will be so glad when this infection clears up and I can get the root canal done. It’s sad that I’m looking foreword to a root canal, isn’t it? But I know it has to be done and I’m ready to feel better.

Anyway Mom decided that this year for Thanksgiving we are going to have turkey and ham. I know this decision is the turkey’s fault. See Mom has trouble lifting things that are heavy and all the frozen turkeys we encountered were 20 to 30lbs. Her arthritis just won’t allow that. So she found a fresh turkey that’s only 10 lbs and a ham that weights the same. This way she can make the dinner on her own without help. She knows we would help but I think it’s important to her to do this on her own. She’s always done it and not to be able to do so would be like somehow admitting defeat. God, it’s hard to see my Mom getting older and having to deal with shit like this. And damn it I miss my dad. Times like this just bring that to light.

Well that was depressing. I’m gonna go lay back down now. Hope today you spent surrounded by loved ones who brought a smile to your face. So you know what’s next right? Hope tomorrow is the same for you. I have such wonderful hopes for you.

Night Mayo

Then I found them stuffed in the back of the car. =)

Then I found out that Jet is the support act for the Oz leg >_<

I'm testing wavelengths here, but I'm guessing you're the type of girl who also loves that time between half night and half light, when the suburban world is yet to make itself heard, but you yourself somehow half awaken, reach out to stroke the face and chest of your loved one - bare, soft and warm... Slow, and gentle, and out of space trippy, morning interlude! Yeah, am I right?

Rats on valium? O_o
lol, nowhere but here. =)

SS,
Ever get a reading stutter now and then? Well, my eyes just redesignated you as Master Stripper of Hats. Hope you've got lots of them. =)

Hello Picked Possum. I'm very well thank you and pleased to say that the weather is improving here. Still raining, a few flood warnings, but nothing compared to Cumbria. Those poor people. One policeman drowned when one of the bridges collapsed.

Well PP I watched the Wales vs Argentina game on Saturday. What a match! 33-16 to Wales. Thank god for Shane Williams and Stephen Jones. Rugby players are Gods here in Wales, Rock Stars don't get a second glance:)
The Australian team have just arrived here to prepare for next Saturday's game. I don't know if you watch rugby Ergo but I'll let you know what happens. May the best team win!

I was watching one of my favourite comedy shows yesterday 'Allo 'Allo! Have any of you seen it? "Good moaning" "Listen very carefully I shall say zis only once" My favourite characters are General von Klinkerhoffen and Mimi La Bonque. There are so many brilliant British comedies, Are you being served, The Royle Family, Fawlty Towers, The Mighty Boosh, Vicar of Dibley, Blackadder, The Young Ones, Bottom, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Red Dwarf, Little Britain, Gavin and Stacey. The Goodies, I could go on and on.
So tell me Mr Mayonaise do you watch British comedies and if you do what's your favourite? If anyone else would like to answer that question I'd love to hear your answers.

Nos da Ergo welai di'n y bore.

Hiya guys, how are you all?

say hi to them all from an aussie fan, esp Stuart I always feel sorry for him, if anyone is going to be attacked in the dark it's him

LOL yeah Ergo, it's always poor Stu that gets attacked. His hair still hasn't grown back and we're onto series 12 here now.

So glad you got the parcel sweetie.

Hi to Anima and SC, great to see you back in these parts.

Hiya OPJ and OPL sweeties
Miss T, it's official: I haz a gellus. "Most Haunted"? You are the WOMAN!! So cool, congrats to you!

Miss T., Ghost Hunters Live! Wow, I am really envious. I would love to see that. You have to give us a report when you get back home. Is Stuart still with them? Poor thing, he was always the one they sent in to the worst of it, and the one who seems to always get smacked around and scared shitless by the ghosts.

I promise to tell you all the details. Roll on Feb.

Anyone who watches Ghost Hunter, do you remember when Stuart was in the barn and they were looking for the spirit of a witch? Derek was there too, and Stuart got kicked in the chest by something, and was crying and screaming for them to get him out? Even Derek looked scared. And the next day, Stuart had this huge bruise on his chest. I know that some of the ghost shows are faked, but I really think that one was mighty real.

Right after that was when all his body hair fell out due to the shock and it still hasn't grown back.

Elena, I hope your tooth stops hurting soon sweetie.

Welsh anon, I will also admit to laughing at 'allo 'allo. You are so right about all the good comedies though. We Brits so rule at that hahahah!

I'm knackered right now. I was out in the wind and rain at 2:30am cos the galed had blown over my neighbour's bin lid and it was flapping and making a noise like someone constantly slamming a door. I had to make it stop. So there I was in the wind and rain in my pj's and dressing gown, struggling with the bin in the early hours.

Then, I heard the bin men come, then it was kids screaming on their way to school, then it was all the traffic in the world coming up our road (or so it seemed). I never did get back to sleep.

I'm off for an early night.

Take care everyone xxx

hey welsh anon
diolch yn gobeithio eich bod yn cael diwrnod gwych

last night, at about 10pm, I saved one of my young hens from an 8 foot carpet python by repeatedly hitting it with a torch until it let go. Heard noise up in hen house and found it hanging by tail from a perch with hen suspended about a foot of the ground about 4 coils around her. he dropped her and retreated up the wall (to spot the photos are) I thought she was dead but then she started moaning and when I went to grab her she sprang up and ran out. All this mind you in pitch black apart from my torch. I ran back to get hubby who made a snake catcher (poly pipe with loop of rope through it) to snare it's head and get it out. Put it in a feed bag to release on the range this morning. It was a beautiful snake, so soft and boy was it strong, but it couldn't stay here!

MissT, you too! I've never seen Most Haunted, but by the sounds of it, you've snagged yourself a pretty faboo gig! Is it going to be on YouTube, perhaps?

Ergo and Welsh Anon, is "Allo Allo" the one about the cafe owner during World War 2 in Nazi-Occupied France? If so, that one is pretty good from time to time. I also like Only Fools and Horses for true vintage Britcom.

Also, Ergo, how're you going to keep that snake from coming back? Is it time to fortify the henhouse again?

snakes are really so amazing. i remember wanting a snake for a pet back at the end of high school, and i would go down to the pet store every weekend to hold the garter snakes. i loved the way they knotted themselves around my fingers. so cuddlesome. ♥

mayo,

my schedule has changed a little bit; every other night i meet my ride at another spot in town rather than at the shop. i don't mind. it means i get to walk through town by myself, in the dark.

it's a small town, and so even though i know to be cautious and aware, i'm still not too concerned about the scattered few also moving around. it's such a lovely feeling to be outside, alone. to be walking past dark shop windows (this place rolls up the sidewalks pretty early), music in my headphones the soundtrack to the evening.

actually, i need it. there is something nourishing about walking city streets, even if that city isn't really one.

and as i walk, i remind myself who i am. not the friendly shopgirl. not the companionable commuter. not the pleasant, patient daughter.

just me. just someone who is comfortable in the night, someone who doesn't care if you see her silently lip-syncing to the music in her ears, someone who needs her own company as much as anyone elses'.

so i'm glad for the change in my schedule, even though it's a little town, and a short walk.

good night, mayo. take care, and sweet dreams.

There was a guy in a bar one night that got drunk, I mean really, really, really drunk. When the bar closed, he got up to go home.
As he stumbled out the door, he saw a nun walking on the side-walk.
So he stumbled over to the nun and punched her in the face. Well, the nun was totally surprised, but before she could do or say anything, he punched her again. This time she fell down and he stumbled over to her and kicked her in the butt. Then he picked her up and threw her into a wall.
By this time the nun was pretty weak and couldn't move very much. So then he leaned over her, put his face right next to hers and said;
"Not very fuckin' strong tonight, are you Batman?"

Good Morning, Everyone!

Only in for a minute, but just wanted to say "Hi!" and hope everyone is doing well.

TJ,

I loved your good night to Mayo last night. I can completely relate to what you were saying. I sing along with CDs at full volume in the car, and couldn't care less what others think. You should have seen me the other day with "Desolation Row". Loud, complete with hand movements and windows rolled down. But I am in my own world at that point, and it is me. Just be careful walking around at night, even in a smaller town. Otherwise, skip down the street singing your heart out and enjoy every minute of it!

I'm really liking the guess the person behind the music game. So we have, what, 6:39 from the other day and 5:03 from yesterday to guess. (Unless they are both 6:39). I'm going to say S.S. on the 6:39 one. But we need more hints, please!

Ergo the snake hunter! I guess in Australia you have to be ready for anything snake-wise. And BG wanting to keep it! Don't tell her, but I had a pet snake when I was little. It was a black snake, and it stayed outside, but around the house. My nephew and I would go out to play and sit down in the grass and the snake would come and curl up between us so we could pet it. Dad had to get it out of a tree one day after a dog ran it up there! I don't know if it was a him or a her but we always called it a he, and named him Blackie. He was so cool.

Wendy,

How are you doing? Besides jumping up and down for the Saints? :) Hope you are doing good.

Welsh anon,

You had asked before if I knew what part of Wales my ancestors came from. I'm not sure of the town, but I know it's South Wales on my Grandmum's side.(My Dad's Mum.) She was half Welsh, half Cherokee, and GreatGrandpa was a stowaway on a boat to America! The other side of my Welsh heritage comes from my Grandfather's on my Dad's side, who came to America in the late 1700's He was married to an Irish lady, so there is a bit of Irish on both sides of my family, since my Mum is Dutch-Irish.

I'm a bit of a mish-mash, both mostly Cherokee-Welsh!

Oh, and my favorite British Comedy is a toss up between Keeping Up Apearances and Ab-Fab. Or Young Ones. I love most of the British comedys!

Elena,

Hope you are feeling better today. Take care of yourself!

Miss T.,

Hope you got some sleep! Sounds like you had a rough night.

Possum,

Oooo, Green Day tickets! I know you will have a blast at that show. Really good to see you here too.

Hello also to Mayo, S.S., Amy, B.C., Martha, KOL Anon, Wish, anons ,lurkers, and anyone else I missed,

Have a great day!

I don't think 6.39 and 5.03 are the same anon. 6.39 signs in as 6.39 so I think if they were the anon that posted the list at 5.03, they would have posted as 6.39 and said they were giving extra clues. Just my pennies worth. Hopefully one of them will come back and clear it up.

10 and O = Hell yeah and Happy SAINTSgiving!!!!!!!! Bless dem boys!

Hello Mayo, SS, L (and J), Ergo, Elena, MissT, Sweetcheeks, Amy, Martha, TJ, Possum, Anima, Wish, KOL anons (if they still visit and have been struck by an attack of shyness), VN, Welsh anon, LIL WAYNE!!!!! (waves), pilgrims, pioneers and pardoned turkeys!

How are you all, today? Good, I hope!

Is everyone getting ready for the holiday? (American/USA everyones, that is!) Are you all working on your "to be thankful for" lists?

Amy and Sweetcheeks: Did you hear the CoF news? They're working on they're new album! YAY!!!! I hear it should be released in Spring or early Summer!

I, personally, am grateful for that news!

:D

And, did everyone see HIM's new album cover art? I like it (even though those eyes do make me dizzy... talk about double vision!!!)!

~~~Here it is (along with the official ~ I think ~ track listing)!!!~~~
~~"The enigmatic frontman recently told Metal Hammer that the new material is “the most sexual, the most horny”~~
O_O
OKAY... now THAT, I'm really REALLY grateful for! Or, I will be once I hear it, I'm sure.
I really don't understand that opening line about "gloomy goth girls". I don't see no gloomy goth girls.
>_>
<_<
Nope, not a one!
I also don't have a "heart~O~gram" pillow to hug. Where's Cyber Santa? Maybe he can hook me up with one! He was very good to me last year. Gave me a new throat when I asked for one over on twitter!
"In Venere Veritas"... In love there is truth. I love that title! It's so lovely and so true! Well, at least there SHOULD be truth in love. I would hope there is for everyone!
I suppose I have rambled on enough for now.
L: I'm doing fine, love. Thanks, as always, for asking!!!! And, thank you and Jen for the beautiful sympathy card and the Thanksgiving card!
*huge hugs*
I'm off for now. Have a great day, everyone!!!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
good morning!
no new snake adventures thank goodness!
yes L, when you live out of the cities you have to be able to cope with a lot of stuff, just too far to be able to call people in, snakes are unfortunately an ever present hazard so you get to know what to do though I only do stuff I am as sure as possible won't hurt me. Carpet snakes are fairly easy to deal with, they are rarely aggressive.
But yeah when you have to deal with errant wildlife, broken water pumps, lack of power, etc you get resourceful, which is one of the things often said about Aussies in the bush.
Having a friendly snake is so cool!! How lovely that it wanted to be with you like that. I would love to have kept this one, if it had been possible, it was beautiful
good morning wendy!
sounds like you are a little excited about the album :P
2:58 wow they would get you going in the morning!
I do love how "I want candy" is in there too
can I guess VN?
still stumped on 6:39 TJ?
and of course any could be Mayo and SS, if they were playing along too
Hi Ergo!!!!
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. I said I was going... from here, from there, from everywhere!
I just keep getting sucked (much like those crawfish heads) back in!
:P
I, officially, promise to STOP REFRESHING after this comment!
I clicked on a couple of your snake pictures . A couple, not all.
It's a SNAKE, Ergo!!!!! A BIG HUGE SLIMEY SLITHERING SNAKE! A snake that eats wittle bunny wabbits and wittle doggies like Tinker Belle!
Ewwwwww and "did not need to see"; but, thank you anyway! It would make a lovely pair of boots and a matching bag!
:P
Do I seem excited about HIM's new album? Do I? Really? I'm trying not to seem overly excited; but....
I JUST LOVE THEM!!!!!!!! They are my favorite band in the whole, entire world (second only to KISS, of course)! I do believe I may have mentioned that a dozen or a hundred times before.
New LOVE METAL in time for Valentine's Day! It just doesn't get much better than that. (Except for having KISS play Voodoo Fest on Halloween night. That was just a smidgen or two better!)
;)
*blows "I will keep promise and go" kisses to blog believe*
Goodnight, for now, everyone!
Daisy is an amazing record.
So OPL you're a Hwntw! No, I'm not being rude, a Hwntw is someone who comes from South Wales. If you're from North Wales you're a Gog. I noticed a while ago that sometimes you have the Welsh Flag on your blog. The Welsh Dragon. It's a mighty fine flag isn't it.
You say you're a bit of a mish mash and to be honest I'm quite jealous of that because I am all Celt! A bit boring really. My mum's side of the family are all welsh and my dad's side are mostly welsh except for my great grandmother who was Scottish. She came to live in Wales when she was a young girl. We know nothing about her except her first name - Grace.
I enjoy watching Keeping Up Appearances as well. Hyacinth Bucket, "it's Bouquet, Bou-quet". I love the episode when she's riding a horse and gets thrown over a hedge.
elena said...
How much of a hair trim?
elena said...
Hey Ergo
Mr Elena wanted me to ask you about the kangaroo who tried to drown a man. Know anything about that?
ergoproxy said...
not too much, about an inch at the back, only the ends off the rest. It had layers cut into it 2 years ago and they are still growing out, the bottom tends to look really thin so she evens it up for me. that cut 2 years ago was probably the worst I've ever had, she's been working to fix it ever since! It was uneven, and I have really fine thin hair and they thinned it more in the layers!! I haven't been back.
elena said...
I can't remember the last time I got my hair cut. It's really long but Mr E likes it.
ergoproxy said...
oh yes! I saw that. Roo's will hold dogs underwater to drown them, that has happened a lot before, they do it as they think they'll be killed so it's a defense, see our only predator is the dingo which is a dog and they'll chase roos. Roos will grab things with their front claws and kick with their hind legs, they can do a lot of damage. The guy was pretty unlucky but the roo was a big one too. 5 foot tall.
There was a little girl attacked by a wallaby last week, got all cut up by it's claws, she's ok but hurt. You have to be really careful around them, even if they are tame, they are powerful animals.
he whole "boxing kangaroo" thing was possible because it's a natural behaviour.
ergoproxy said...
oh also kangaroos are really good swimmers, they do deliberately head for water if they can, so they can try and drown what's chasing it. They swim across river and dams. They swim in the ocean too, if they have a reason to.
elena said...
Hi Mayo, Hi SS, how are you guys? Hello to Calaf and Shakespeare anons if you ever still lurk. Hello to old poetry friends and whatnot.
So how are you guys? Mayo, I know what you mean with this post. I'm always so ready to throw my writing out there to the masses, but to show it to one of my friends makes my palms sweat. What if I reveal too much of myself, or a side they weren't aware of? What if I just plain suck and their opinion of me goes down?
Because, don't lie: You've had that friend that you really get along with and they show you some of their stuff and all of a sudden you're like, "Uhh... that's... real nice. I like the part about umm... the cerulean ocean and your crystalline tears of eternal sadness, umm..."
You just don't want to be that person. :)
Anyway. So, here come the holidays, right. It's gonna be hard this year, and no mistake. I remember being in the car with my Dad only a few months ago, right after Gran passed away and him saying, "It's going to be a tough holiday for this family, especially you and Mom."
I so badly wish he was here to talk to me.
Mom and I aren't doing any holidays this year. It's rough because everyone else is. Some part of me can't help but resent that, even though it's both futile and ridiculous. Life goes on, hey.
I've been sparring a lot, really getting in there and fighting. In fact, this douchebag broke my rib last week. I went in with him and I said it would be light contact since I didn't have any protective gear on (he did,) so no rough stuff. Just throw some punches and some Kung Fu moves. Well, this one particular guy just doesn't have a decent frontal lobe, and he punched me square in the tit with everything he had. Busted my rib, and the cartilage around it.
It actually hurts quite a bit, let me tell you! Tough to be going to massage school with this, too. O_O But, my teachers are so nice and helpful.
But you know Mayo, what a story to tell my future great grandchildren, right? "Great Grandma was quite a girl, she had the body of a warrior." Heh.
My dog Sano is in the hospital again. I guess the vet just jacked him with azathioprine when he didn't need as much as prescribed, and it wiped out his immune system. He's having all these blood transfusions and it can go either way.
Of course, it's the end of the school term so I'm worried. It feels like a pattern. You know? I miss my dog; wish he could come home. (And of course this is all costing me more money than god. Where is this supposed to come from? Maybe I should start having babies and selling them. Or go be a hooker.)
Mayo, SS, when life gives you lemons? Fight with boys who outweigh you by half again and get stronger. Study and learn something new. Read William Gibson or Richard Feynman to keep the bad dreams away. Write, write, write. Go out with that hot boy a few times a week; say "yes" every time he calls. (Or, girl, as the case may be.) Hug your dogs, talk to your Mom, definitely watch Men Who Stare At Goats, play the new Resident Evil and kill lots of zombies, drink tons of water and tea, but eat ice cream sometimes, watch classic old anime (my current choice: Gundam Wing box set,) listen to 30 Seconds to Mars, keep a journal, visit some old pals of intellect.
Help someone else, most of all.
Or do your equivalent of these things, whatever that may be for you.
Oh, and you know what else? I'm querying again. I'm gearing up to send out mss to agents instead of editors this time. What do you think? It could work, right? Sure it could!
Stay cool, you guys. Hope you have a good turn of the season.
toujours said...
talk to you later, ergo!
take care, kapunua. wishing you well, though i know it's hard.
Anyway, can we get back on the subject now?
I really don't have much to share tonight. Thanksgiving is getting closer and closer and I can just taste that turkey. Sadly I don't think I'll be able to chew the damn thing but oh well. Could be worse, it can always be worse.
I'm just concentrating on the fact that my loved ones will all be gathered around the table. I'm sure the sisters will find something to argue about (they always do) but hey, that's how real life is. We may not be the typical Rockwell painting family but I'm okay with that. We are real.
I hope your Thanksgiving proves to be a memorable one. Years from now you will look back and I'm sure you will smile at the memory. At least it's my hope you will.
Take care and know that somewhere, in the middle of nowhere, someone is thinking about you.
mayo,
there's one thing i definitely like about work, and that's filling internet orders. today i had two, and so i spent the afternoon measuring and cutting and folding fabric. it's very soothing, and it allows me to stay in my head and tell myself stories.
customers coming in are usually a bad jolt, but none today, and so it was just me and the fabric. no thoughts, just stories. daydreaming, some would say (but all my stories have their birth with "what if?"; daydreaming is an occupational necessity).
and then taking out the trash at the end of the day, and standing at the back door for a long moment, astonished to discover that it was raining, and then just sheer delight to be able to walk outside in the rain again. (i maybe didn't go back inside as quickly as i ought to have. *grin*)
and right now, music in my ears and an empty coffee cup at my side, closing out the day here at this imaginary home and a good night to you.
these are the best parts of today.
good night, mayo. sweet dreams, and may you have smiles upon waking.
ergoproxy said...
sweet dreams elena, sweet dreams TJ
I bought some turkey today, and I am getting out the decorations elena sent me, though it's not something traditionally we celebrate it's has a good theme of taking the time to be thankful, so often people focus on things to complain about, and forget how special the things they have are. It's good to be reminded of how important that is.
Two campers are walking through the woods when a huge brown bear suddenly appears in the clearing about 50 feet in front of them. The bear sees the campers and begins to head toward them.
The first guy drops his backpack, digs out a pair of sneakers, and frantically begins to put them on.
The second guy says, "What are you doing? Sneakers won't help you outrun that bear."
"I don't need to outrun the bear," the first guy says, "I just need to outrun you."
"Well, on our honeymoon, I made damn sure my wife came to me on her hands and knees," he bragged and took another sip of beer.
His friends were amazed! "What happened then?" they asked, almost in unison."
"Well, then she said, "Get the hell out from under that bed and fight like a man!"
Anon616 said...
Good morning/afternoon Mayo, SS, Ergo, Elena, Amy, L and J, TJ, Martha, MissT, Sweetcheeks, Possum, Welsh anon, friends near and far, everyone!!!
How are you all, today? Good and not too busy with the holiday preparations, I hope! Or, if you are busy, I hope you have a lot of help!
Ergo: I'm so happy to hear you and your family will be celebrating your own version of Thanksgiving!!! Don't forget to take pictures of your table for us!
Anon: I broke and/or cracked all of my ribs in a car crash as well!
Every single one of them. It hurt like hell just to breath and I couldn't walk for two weeks because of the pain. My left foot was broken in two places and my right knee cap was busted too. Took months to heal from all that. But, I was hobbling around on my own after two weeks thanks to a walking cast on that right foot.
My foot and knee always know when a change in weather is coming. Especially when it's going to be very damp or cold!
That's two more things to add to my "thankful/grateful" for list! Surviving and healing those many years ago AND having bones that can now predict weather changes!
:)
Elena: I think it's wonderful you mom still wants to do all the cooking herself! And, I know you would help if you were allowed.
Yet another thing I am thankful/grateful for this year is that I only have to roast the turkey and make a broccoli and cauliflower casserole (with tons of cheese). My sister is taking care of everything else! I still remember last year. Poor thing with her hands all bandaged up from surgery. Well, this year shall be much better for her (and easier on me *wink*)!
So, what are the rest of you doing for the Holiday?
Amy: I know you're way up there in Canada and MissT is way out there in the UK; but, ya'll should have turkey with us! And, pecan pie (or pumpkin or apple) whichever you prefer! Just don't forget the ice cream (or the whipped cream).
Again, whichever you prefer!!!
That is all for now. Have a great day/night, everyone!!!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
Nothing was going to help that right knee get back to bending and being able to handle any pressure being put on it (at all) until those 25 stitches came out! And, I ended up doing that myself. They were quite itchy and uncomfortable after a few weeks!
Wendy broke ALL of her ribs. A little different from getting ONE broken by another person don't you think? I do.
And Lacey, getting engaged, settling down, maturing. A little different from running around with a boy half your age.
Don't you think?
Anonymous said...
How many people told her Karma would bite her in the ass? for talking dow to Mya, OPJ and for pissing Amyranth off? I think they all told her. Warned her about that nasty thing called "karma". What you think of as bad luck or a bad year might just be karma doing it's job. And when another person punches you and breaks your ribs.... you really have to wonder.
Anonymous said...
If you have no one / nothing to be thankful for this year, maybe you only have yourself to blame.
And when another person punches you and breaks your ribs.... you really have to wonder.
I don't think that is karma. It's called getting punched and breaking a rib.
Anonymous said...
Wendy broke ALL of her ribs. A little different from getting ONE broken by another person don't you think? I do.
If you think Kapunua getting her rib broke was bad karma,then Wendy must have been very bad since she broke ALL of her ribs. LOL!
Anonymous said...
Can't help but think it was on purpose.... don't you? If you had the chance, you would take it too.
Anonymous said...
Wendy's was clearly an accident. She didn't go out looking for it.
Plus if you add in everything Kapunua is complaining about that has happened, it does seem more like karma than anything else.
Anonymous said...
If God in His wisdom decided to take those thing away from her, who is anyone to argue with Him? I know that bad things happen to good people all the time, but Christians have a better way of coping. And I honestly believe that God can sometimes get angry and make sure that people get what they deserve as well.
God would not take any of her bullshit and you all know the kind of bullshit she has said about Him.
Oh. That must be like the churches that i have seen on T.V. where they are dancing around with snakes knowing God will save them fron getting bit.LOL!
Anonymous said...
I do think someone has at least been bit a couple of times. See. God does have a since of humor. :)
Anonymous said...
No, no snakes, sorry to disappoint you. There is a difference between a cult and true worship of God.
Anonymous said...
Isn't Toujours a pagan? Does this mean God will do terrible things to her as well?
Anonymous said...
Toujours has people praying for her. You can see the difference though. Teej doesn't rub it in everyone's faces. I don't recall her ever taking a tone with OPJ or anyone here. There is a difference.
Anonymous said...
I'm sure Toujours does not want people "praying for her" if what you are talking about is for her to find Christ and to be saved.
Religion is intensely personal and should not be pushed on anyone. Let people believe what they want.
Anonymous said...
Believing what they want is one thing. But purposely rubbing your disbelief in the faces of people here is another. She was the one who brought up God that time in the first place, OPJ was just defending her God, like she is SUPPOSED to do.
I think that if Kapunua would come here, acknowledge some of the people here, APOLOGIZE for the way she talked down to all of us, she would see her karma change.
Anonymous said...
Sorry, off topic but why do people get mad when an older woman dates a man younger than her? Men date younger women all the time right?
If they get along, respect each other and have a good time who cares? Maybe she doesn't want to get engaged or married. Why does that bug you.
Besides I think they look adorable together. She got her guy and she's squeezing him. Why is that wrong? Shouldn't she be happy?
Anonymous said...
I think that if Kapunua would come here, acknowledge some of the people here, APOLOGIZE for the way she talked down to all of us, she would see her karma change.
The day Kapunua kisses ass is the day Hell freezes over. LOL!
Amyranth has never kissed ass either but she is still loved here. Difference? I think so.
Anonymous said...
I also don't recall OPJ, OPL, Mya, Wendy, MJ or anyone here "kissing ass" but you don't see them having a problem with each other.
Anonymous said...
Amyranth is loved? Really?
I don't really see lots of love going her way from the remaining regulars. Only a weird anon who seems to have an infatuation with her.
Anonymous said...
So sorry, I am not jealous of a woman who has to give it up to a horny young guy. I'm happy in my relationship thank you. And I think everyone else here is happy too. You really don't see that kind of behaviour from those here.
*No, sorry is what I meant. Because I am definitely not "so sorry" about feeling the way I do.
I see love for Mayo and SS and a whole lot of fake love for each other among the people here.
Anonymous said...
"Where did you see them together? Curious. is he cute?"
Saw them in her journal. He's not my type but they both are smiling and look like they are having fun. (Sorry, I tend to like more rugged looking men but everyone's taste is different and if they found something special then good for them).
Anonymous said...
You see "fake love" because that's all you know. If you were a differnet kind of person you would see, and UNDRESTAND "real love".
Anonymous said...
LOL did you ever think maybe she is making up this "relationship"?? Sorry but I don't buy it. Pics of people hugging doesn't mean a single thing.
Anonymous said...
Age is not important in a relationship. It only matters if you're a tight-ass who is living in the past.
Anonymous said...
Sorry, off topic but why do people get mad when an older woman dates a man younger than her? Men date younger women all the time right?
I think they just feel that way because it is Kapunua. If it was one of them dating a younger guy it would be so wonderful for them. They can't stand for someone they don't like to be happy. Seem you would outgrow that kind nonsense afer you grow up but clearly that isn't the case.
Anonymous said...
I also don't buy the "she's so hot that young guys want her" or that ANY guy would. Sorry, but that is MY taste. I like my women a little LESS rugged.
Anonymous said...
Oh please.
I can spot phoniness when I see it. And real love exists in real life. Not on a blog where people jump through hoops trying to impress someone they don't even know.
You mean like if OPJ's porn came true and Frank Iero humped her? Yup I could see the "love" flowing towards her then.
Kapunua is not married. She IS single. Why not date a younger guy? Why not date a HORNEY guy? Seems like a plus in my book!
Anonymous said...
So what's the deal with Mayo and SS anyway? Do you have proof they are Gerard and Frank or is it just a case of wishful thinking?
Anonymous said...
Because it shows an immaturity and that lack of respect we have all come to know and "love" from her.
Anonymous said...
So....You like women a little less rugged? Does your man know that about you?
Everything here is put on public display for other people to read. None of it is real. In a way, it is like going to church. People showing their devotion to God in front of others to make themselves look like good people.
Jesus actually told people to pray to him in their closets, not in public places.
Frank is an adult. OPJ is an adult. Frank is well into his 20's. That makes a lot of difference in a man's life.
Is that why so many Christians are still in the closet?
LOL sorry. You fell into that one.
Anonymous said...
Um... I think Kapunua's guy is an adult as well.
And there's probably less of an age difference there than what is between OPJ and Frank.
Anonymous said...
Hahahaha!! Good one!!
Anonymous said...
They know, but don't expect them to tell you how they know. They are more likely to deny it.
Are you for real with this nonsense?
Actually, I'm not the Christian anon. I'm just pointing out how hypocritical all the rambling on about God is.
I actually know quite a few Christians who are in the closet, though. One in particular has been married for 30 years and takes periodic 'Brokeback Mountain' type trips with his roommate from college. ;P
You were the one who brought up OPJ and Frank, not me. You used them as an example so I countered it. I think you fail at debate.
Awww that was a sad movie. Hope he can find happiness. Sorry for getting you confused with other anons.
So let me get this staight. Do you supposed to pray in a closet Or come out of the closet or did God come out of the closet as a cross dresser? I must go read up on the bible and find out what else i have been missing!
Anonymous said...
No, actually you fail at debate because what you countered with made no sense. There is a huge age difference between Frank and OPJ, but that doesn't stop OPJ from lusting after him. She'd jump him if given the chance. Hell, she'd jump him against his will if she could.
They thought that by getting kap to leave, they would have more opportunity to talk to Mayo. I can see their reasoning, Mayo clearly found her fascinating and talked to her much more than any other lovely. But now she's gone, he seems less interested in hanging around to chat.
OPJ has done nothing wrong. You brought her up. I'm asking you to leave her out of it.
You really WANT to believe that, I can tell. So I will let you believe it. But if you take a look around, she does still post sometimes (obviously) and that does not get Mayo to come out and "hang around". But if you look closely you will see him saying that he has missed us and he DOES come out and talk sometimes, as does SS.
But you keep believing what you want.
Also, BUMP.
Hey, the Bible says it, not me.
Matthew 6.5-6
And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly.
For the RECORD, "anon" at 3:30, none of the Lovelies here who are Christian push their beliefs on anyone else. They do keep their beliefs and Christian practices private. The only times it gets brought up is when KAPUNUA acts high and mighty and says things like she would "talk down to God" if he was in the room with her.
Then OPJ or anyone has the right and the DUTY to tell her that she can't say things like that without retribution.
Anonymous said...
I beg to differ. Toujours is constantly going on about her religious practices and praying to her "gods."
And then we have the Christian anon who is always pushing God onto everyone.
