Dig into her.

Of all the translations of Charles Baudelaire's Rêve parisien that I have read, this version is my favorite.

Parisian Dream

I

That marvelous landscape of my dream —
Which no eye knows, nor ever will —
At moments, wide awake, I seem
To grasp, and it excites me still.

Sleep, how miraculous you are —
A strange caprice had urged my hand
To banish, as irregular,
All vegetation from that land;

And, proud of what my art had done,
I viewed my painting, knew the great
Intoxicating monotone
Of marble, water, steel and slate.

Staircases and arcades there were
In a long labyrinth, which led
To a vast palace; fountains there
Were gushing gold, and gushing lead.

And many a heavy cataract
Hung like a curtain, — did not fall,
As water does, but hung, compact,
Crystal, on many a metal wall.

Tall nymphs with Titan breasts and knees
Gazed at their images unblurred,
Where groves of colonnades, not trees,
Fringed a deep pool where nothing stirred.

Blue sheets of water, left and right,
Spread between quays of rose and green,
To the world's end and out of sight,
And still expanded, though unseen.

Enchanted rivers, those — with jade
And jasper were their banks bedecked;
Enormous mirrors, dazzled, made
Dizzy by all they did reflect.

And many a Ganges, taciturn
And heedless, in the vaulted air,
Poured out the treasure of its urn
Into a gulf of diamond there.

As architect, it tempted me
To tame the ocean at its source;
And this I did, — I made the sea
Under a jeweled culvert course.

And every color, even black,
Became prismatic, polished, bright;
The liquid gave its glory back
Mounted in iridescent light.

There was no moon, there was no sun, —
For why should sun and moon conspire
To light such prodigies? — each one
Blazed with its own essential fire!

A silence like eternity
Prevailed, there was no sound to hear;
These marvels all were for the eye,
And there was nothing for the ear.

II

I woke; my mind was bright with flame;
I saw the cheap and sordid hole
I live in, and my cares all came
Burrowing back into my soul.

Brutally the twelve strokes of noon
Against my naked ear were hurled;
And a gray sky was drizzling down
Upon this sad, lethargic world.

— Edna St. Vincent Millay, Flowers of Evil (NY: Harper and Brothers, 1936)

Conclusive proof that Vampires cannot exist:

improbability of their existence can be detailed.

From a molecular biology standpoint the ingestion of blood would, for all intents and purposes be a useless venture. When blood is exposed to the HCL of the stomach and the pancreatic enzymes that follow it is degraded to the point of macromolecules. The Hemoglobin is degraded almost completely by bile, which is actually part of bile's function in the body--degrading old bloodcell's hemoglobin so it doesn't toxify the blood. This being said the argument could be made that a vampire's digestive system has been altered in a way that gets around this problem, this too is ineffective. even if blood from another organism could be taken in and not degraded, then taken up directly into the vampire's system the immune system of the vampire would attack any foreign antigens from the blood of the victim. The antibody-antigen-antibody complexes would cause hemoagglutination, which is a kind of blood poisoning. It could, once again, be argued that the physiology of a vampire has been altered so much that their immune system functions differently than humans. Taken together the physiological differences are so great that to assume the causitive agent for vampirism--I assume a retrovirus--could actually exist is an imposibility. The amount of change that would have to occur to the human genome to facilitate this kind of difference is far more than the RNA capacity of 10 of the largest retroviruses

mayo,

this morning when i woke up, i only had enough energy to climb to the foot of the bed to see the sunrise. i didn't wake up again for quite some time.

and now i'm just tired again all over. i'm not coming down with the blogbelieve virus, i'm not preparing to hibernate...

maybe i'm just extraordinarily lazy. *grin*

i've been reading millay, and i have to be honest, so far i'm not sure i like her. she writes well, but the tone is a bit more pessimistic than i have taste for. we'll see. i'm still reading.

that's it. i tried to think of something profound to say to you tonight, but finally had to give it up as a rambly sort of night.

hope you're well.
good night, my friend.

Mayo,
tonight for your musing pleasure, Ben Elton -
“If only the strength of the love that people feel when it is reciprocated could be as intense and obsessive as the love we feel when it is not; then marriages would be truly made in heaven.”
Kinda changes when reality hits, but I think the underlying friendship 2 people feel is what holds them through the alterations.
Have you read Ben Elton's novels? If you haven't I can highly recommend them. he has a unique gift for storytelling that makes you enthralled, entertained, thoughtful and often uncomfortable all at the same time. He is an incredibly gifted man. Also, of course, you would have to see the Young Ones and BlackAdder. Two of my all time favourite comedies (there are a few of them, almost all British)
Wishing you laughing, pondering, reflecting and enjoying
much love EP xx

SS
“The earth only has so much bounty to offer and inventing ever larger and more notional prices for that bounty does not change its real value.”
Ben Elton again, have you read his books? I think you'd enjoy them if you haven't. His take on social and environmental issues is unique and very thought provoking, all tied up in his own brand of humour. I know you care very much for the environment and the people in it. A harmonious world would be a beautiful place, maybe it's impossible, but for our own little part of it, maybe there is a chance.
Sending you vision, drive and certainty
lotsa love EP xx

goodnight blogbelieve see you in my morning

Mayo

Well only about 500 comics left to deal with. Fred is helping me so between the two of us we’re getting them done. Gotta say though it’s a good thing that I was in the kitchen on the laptop looking up my stack because once again I kept getting distracted (have you ever read “Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere?”) and don’t get near as many looked up as Fred. Pretty sure if she saw me reading instead of looking up she’d yell at me. Can’t help it though there are some great comics in this lot.

So after hours of working on the comics we took a break to watch a movie. Oh, hell it was a perfect good/bad horror film. What was even more cool (yeah I know ‘more cool’ sounds wrong but hey I’m not getting critiqued on this) is that I actually know one of the actors in the film. He’s a regional director for the video store next to my bookstore. I had no idea he was actually an actor. Anyway the title of the movie is “Evil’s Alter” It’s the story of some ghost hunters who get invited to an old plantation house. Oh man, this is so bad it’s wonderful. Right down to the “falling” actors. Truly lots of people fall down in this movie and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t in the script. This was filmed in Columbia Missouri and now I really want to go to the house they used because it’s really supposed to be haunted. Yep, I can just take my ghost hunting equipment and check it out. Okay I’m a bit strange but that idea really seems like fun to me. I don’t know why but I’ve always had a fascination for the paranormal. Think it started out when I was a kid and read every horror comic I could find often times having to hide them from my mom. She never understood why I liked them. I thought they were great. It’s weird because I really shouldn’t have liked them. I should have been afraid of ghosts and things that go bump in the night. I was so overprotected as a kid, always being warned about all the evil in the world, that I should have been afraid. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t. I never got a chance to be in any situation that was potentially dangerous. So maybe that’s why I almost craved the unexpected. Oh I’m thinking too much again. What difference does it make that I was a warped kid who loved horror comics and movies? No difference really and it’s not changed. I love horror movies and I want to be a ghost hunter. Well actually I guess I am a ghost hunter I just haven’t caught one yet with my equipment. However I have lived in two houses that have ghosts. All of my daughters are believers too. See they do take after me a bit. Oh I know I’ll share one of their stories with you. I really hope I haven’t told this story before but hey, I’m old so forgive me if I’m repeating myself.

This is what happened to my middle daughter. Several years ago we were in Colorado on vacation. We were staying at a local campground and had gone into town to have a nice dinner. When we came out of the restaurant we started walking to the car when suddenly my husband just stopped walking. We all looked at him and I have to say to this day I still can’t quite describe the look on his face but it was eerie. I asked him what was wrong but he didn’t answer. Then I noticed he was shaking. I touched his arm and it was ice cold. I asked him again what was wrong and my daughter said calmly, “He just walked through a dead guy.” Okay I don’t know what was more disturbing at that moment, my husband’s behavior or my daughter’s words. We all looked at her and she just shrugged. I asked her why she thought that and she said, “Because that’s what just happened.” I really didn’t want to discuss it at that moment because I figured it was more important to figure out what to do with the shaking husband. We walked slowly to the car, he was weak, and got in. He turned the heater on full blast and it took ten minutes for him to stop shaking. Mind you this was in the summertime so the rest of us were roasting. When he felt better we started back to the campground but he wouldn’t talk about what had happened, neither would my daughter. However I couldn’t get the incident out of my head. Later that night I found the couple that owned the campground because I had a question I thought they could answer. I told them were we had eaten dinner and asked them about the area. Can’t say I was totally shocked when they told me that about seven months earlier a man had been shot to death outside that restaurant. As I headed back to camp my daughter appeared and I told her what I’d learned. She simply nodded and said, “Yeah, I told you. Dad walked through him.” That was the last she ever talked about it. If you mention the incident she changes the subject.

Okay so now I’ve bored you with my story. Sorry I’m so chatty tonight but I feel kinda like I’ve missed talking to you. Yeah, I do write something every night but getting to share this story is pretty neat for me.

Gonna get back to the comics now. Mayo, don’t fear the dark only the darkness.

Night Mayo

I have to finish a movie, so bye for now!

Goodnight Elena! And good evening, ergo!

Hi FASC! :) and waving. I hope you are well!

L - I will email you soon! Lots going on :)

PH - I giggled over your typo :D

Wendy - Using tarot, I successfully predicted a friend's absence and the reason for it - and the exact cost of my car repair! Up to that point, I had only been successful with generalities. I am still not sure about mayo's identity, however ;) Mayo does cut through the bullshit (in real life, as well as blog life) according to my cards. I could give you a reading, but I would want to know if its good or not. Sometimes I get the wrong answer - or rather the question is wrong! :) Take care - and I hope you're feeling lots better!

BC - I hope you continue to get better. Now that you have proper treatment, I am sure it will be easier! Antibiotics are a miracle for many ailments. Take care of yourself, sweetie! :) *hugs*

Solly - Thank you for the info. I do understand how unconscionable the harassment has been, and how easily cruel (and scary!) people can use this medium to harm others - personally and professionally. This was one of the reasons (among others) that I asked mayo a while ago to at least install some sort of info-gathering program. That being said, when I chose to speak of younger relatives, I did so with the (false) understanding that no one would know where I currently live in Michigan, as its a small town. I have no problem with anyone tracking the ISP address that I comment from, as I never post malicious comments - except to mean anons - and I do so signed in. I always comment signed in, as I owe my thoughts that dignity - and I believe everyone else does too.

On my own behalf, few people scare me. However, if any harm should come to my younger family members because I was foolish enough to post pics of where I live - and it is a fairly unusual place - I can't even describe my reaction, but I am sure you can imagine having been through the harassment you suffered. Perhaps I am too vigilant on this matter, but being from detroit - and having worked in several school systems - I am very leery of this kind of modern vulnerability and I do understand the hazards it poses. We have career development seminars on such issues so we can better inform our students.

Now, I don't think anyone would be crazy enough to come here, but I do recognize that there are many unhinged people on the internet, as your harassment underscores. And that scares me.

I believe my ISP is located in a much larger city, which is a good distance away, but I will install tracker myself to check my own blog to make sure. I rarely have anons visit, so I prob. won't leave it though.

And our behemoth dog will attack (read: eat) any strangers, but she prefers UPS deliverers! (Tasty!)

Mayo - see above note to Solly - and if you're still unclear, I left you a message yesterday.

Have a great day, everyone!

:)

our house has/had a ghost, never seen by me but odd things happen, hope she is still there and a friend told me we have another, she sensed, I'm hoping I may have some experience from him

Hi miranth yeah I'm with you on the tracker, I don't comment nastily as an anon so I don't have any issues, and I know my isp isn't located particularly near me, it's a relay, but then I've never really hidden the general area I'm from either.
But protecting yourself and minors esp is paramount, but heck, if mayo turns up on my doorstep I have a spare bed!

ergo - I agree those of us (with minors particularly) need to be assured that our info is safe. My ISP is prob. the larger city listed on the bills, but I have to check. If Mayo shows up, I'll give him a reading :) and possibly an organic (farm grown) meal - if he's very nice!

I had no idea I'd be here this long and share all of the things that I did! :) I enjoy many people's company here, not least your own! :)

Mayo,

Happy Tuesday to ya! Yesterday, I missed the sunrise because I was too busy wallowing in my deep, dark mind, but not today. Today, I will make sure to notice, will it be as spectacular as the one Friday? The pinks, the oranges, the purples, the blues. I can't wait to find out.

I've been digging into Edna St. Vincent Millay and I posted this one on Saturday at the porch, but I thought I owed it to you as well, seeing as how you are the one who told me to go digging. Look at the treasure I found:

The Singing-Woman from the Wood's Edge

WHAT should I be but a prophet and a liar,
Whose mother was a leprechaun, whose father was a friar?
Teethed on a crucifix and cradled under water,
What should I be but a fiend's god-daughter?

And who should be my playmates but the adder and the frog,
That was got beneath a furze-bush and born in a bog?
And what should be my singing, that was christened at an altar,
But Aves and Credos and Psalms out of Psalter?

You will see such webs on the wet grass, maybe,
As a pixie-mother weaves for her baby,
You will find such flame at the wave's weedy ebb
As flashes in the meshes of a mer-mother's web,

But there comes to birth no common spawn
From the love of a priest and a leprechaun,
And you never have seen and you never will see
Such things as the things that swaddled me!

After all's said and after all's done,
What should I be but a harlot and a nun?

In through the bushes, on foggy days,
My Da would come a-swishing of the drops away,
With a prayer for my death and a groan for my birth,
A-mumbling of his beads for all he was worth.

And there sit my Ma, her knees beneath her chin,
A-looking in his face and a-drinking of it in,
And a-marking in the moss some funny little saying
That would mean just the opposite of all he was praying!

He taught me the holy-talk of Vesper and of Matin,
He heard me my Greek and he heard me my Latin,
He blessed me and crossed me to keep my soul from evil,
And we watched him out of sight, and we conjured up the devil!

Oh, the things I haven't seen and the things I haven't known,
What with hedges and ditches till after I was grown,
And yanked both ways by my mother and my father,
With a 'Which would you better?" and a "Which would you rather?"

With him for a sire and her for a dam,
What should I be but just what I am

Let's compare sunrises, okay? How bout it?

Love to YOU Always,
S

p.s. What should I be but just what I am?

Good morning mayo.

I was out and about this morning, I went to the shops to get a sim card when I ran into one of my friends that I haven’t seen since I arrived back home. We got talking and I found out that a couple of months ago, my friend was put into a coma after a night out.

He was out with friends, gone outside at the end of the night around 1am to get a taxi from the taxi office. As he stood there, 4 youths around 16 years old came up to him and asked him for a fag, well martin didn’t smoke so he said ‘sorry, I don’t smoke’. The lads didn’t believe him so they punched him to the floor and repeatedly kicked and jumped on his head. Then they ran off like cowards that they are and left him. He was taken to the local hospital where he was in a comma for a few weeks but he is awake now. He can speak but not too sure on some of his movements in his limbs.

I really don’t know how anyone could even think of something like that or even doing it. I mean, what makes someone physically hurt someone else, what makes someone think that they want to get their two feet and jump so high and then land on someone’s face, it is fucking sick and inhuman. Why, why would they feel the need, I just don’t get it, but that’s nothing new.

I just don’t know, it seems that a lot of young people are turning into monsters and it is not nice, maybe they see the adults in their life behaving like that or see it on TV, I just don’t know but it makes me so mad, sad and upset urghh I just don’t get it.

ergoproxy said...

hi fim I really hope your friend recovers quickly and fully.
That sort of thing seems to happen so often these days, I cannot understand the mentality at all.
Plus half the time they seem to film it on phones and then post it about or put it on youtube.
Even boys from our small country high school have done the same.
Violence is never an answer, but a lot of people see it as a viable option, is it upbringing? TV? lack of consequences? desensitisation?
whatever it is it makes the world a far scarier place than it ever was before.

have a good day, you too sdock

Morning Mayo and SS! How are you two?

Ever have one of those days where everything goes wrong? Yeah, I'm sure you guys have. Well, my son fell down the front steps this morning and thought I was laughing at him. I wasn't, mainly because I didn't see him, but I wasn't. Then I get pulled over by the city police because he wasn't buckled in (stupidity and laziness on my part). Well, I had pulled into the parking lot of a daycare and the cop asked,"Does he go to daycare here?" O_O I thought my son was going to have a mental breakdown right there. I said, "No, no he does not. He goes to the elementary school. He's 8." And the cop looks at him again and goes, "Oh! I didn't really get a good look at him." >_<

Dude, you do not know what you have just done. You might as well have just beat him. I know first hand how bad it sucks sometimes to be the smallest in the class and a foot shorter than everyone else.
And I suck at saying the right thing so he's just looking at me like, "Mama, will you kindly STFU."

Anyhoo....

Don't know why I'm rambling about this but I hope you guys are doing well and may your day be a helluva lot better than his! ^_^

Fimmy,

I am so sorry about your friend. That is just terrible. I don't understand why shit like that happens. It doesn't make sense at all. I hope he can recover from it.

Miss you. :)

Oh man, Fim, that is just awful. I'm so sorry. I think we as humans flatter ourselves that we've risen above the rest of the animal kingdom sometimes, but obviously that's not so. I think we're the only animals who hurt other creatures for pleasure while being fully aware of our actions. It's sick. I'm really sorry it happened to your friend.

Princess, I'm also sorry that your day is sucking so hard. I hope it gets better.

Mayo and S(S)S, I hope you guys are having a much better day. I hope today finds you both cheerful, and without seasonal allergies.

Hey, if either of you does something creative today, or finds something inspiring or delightful or moving, would you share it with us?

And remember everyone: FALL FOLIAGE. ;D

Welp, I'm off to the pork.

God I love writing that. ;)

Good morning/afternoon/evening SS, Mayo, Ergo, Miranth, Sweetcheeks, Elena, TJ, Sdock, Fimble Star, Smoke&Venom; various anons, watchers and lurkers; all ghosts, goblins, ghouls, gremlins and goonies in the land o'blogbelieve!

How are you all this a.m./p.m.? Great, grand and generally okay, I hope!

Do you all know what time of year it is? And... I'm not about Halloween. I have three words for you all:
VOODOO, VOODOO, VOODOO !!!!

That is correct. The Voodoo Music Experience (aka: Voodoo Fest) is the weekend! How the heck did that get here so soon? This year's schedule is going to kill me. Stone Temple Pilots, REM, NIN, Bullet For My Valentine ... hundreds more. I want to go all three days; but, I can't do three days of Voodoo. Can I? I'm going to have to miss Opeth next week. But, I can't miss Opeth, can I? And, I still haven't done the House of Shock (not once) this year. Dilemma!

Ergo: Help! Advice needed. What should I do?
*smoooooooooch*

Miranth: What do the cards say I should (or shouldn't do)? I can't get sick(er). I have winter travel plans!

Sweetcheeks: I'm so happy to hear you liked your planet, wardrobe and the stuff to go in the wardrobe! I hope you're feeling much better today!!!!

Amy: I was very happy to hear that you were not in the hospital! Take care of yourself, young lady, and stay away from bubbling food products!

To ponder, or not to ponder, today:

Have a great day, everyone!

Fimble Star: I just read about your friend. I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to him. I hope he recovers ~ fully ~ soon.

I will never understand why people do the cruel, heartless, despicable things that they do, either. A complete lack of empathy, I suppose. Beyond that, I don't think I want to understand what makes a human being behave that way.

Hello Jules! Hi Wendy!

I'm gotta say this one more time.

SS: Broken Bride EP.

Hell, Mayo, you listen to it, too. But you gotta do it start to finish and you gotta read the storyline so you know what's going on.

Basically, it's love, death, time travel, dinosaurs, zombies, dragons, the anti-christ, aliens and finally, getting that one thing you've longed for.

LISTEN TO IT! And tell me what you think about it.

Jules, Solly and I want to make videos for it. And I'm sure I could talk Carrie into it. Let me know if you want in on it. I might can make you a zombie or even a dragon. O_o

:)

Sorry. Hee-hee. I'll stop with the Broken Bride now. You know how it is though. When you find something that really just stops you dead in your tracks and you can't listen to anything else for a while. Yep.

Have a good day all!

Miss you guys.

BYEEEEE!

Anonymous said...

^ EVERYTHING SHE SAID.

Zombies and dragons! And, yes, you have to listen from start to finish and you kinda have to know the story first, so that you get the full effect of it. Also, it gets sadder everytime you listen to it because you know what comes next.

Doooo eeeeet.

Hi, Folks! How is everyone?
Fine, I hope!

I haven't participated here in a long while. It just got to be too much, y'know? But I do think of you guys often.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this:

BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTER
by Maya Angelou

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin''
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain..
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!
Pretty is as Pretty does... but beautiful is just plain beautiful!

Take Care!

MAYO, here is your Mah Jongg oracle reading that I did for you.

It begins with the Center card: This is the focal point of the reading. It's either an answer to a question (of which there was no specific one) or points to the querent and says something about them. (That's you.) Mayo, your center card was the Dragon. In the center position, the Dragon means good fortune or a favorable outcome. It can point to unexpected good fortune, usually having to do with rank, money, awards and things like that. It signifies a stroke of good luck. That's a great card to start off!

The next three cards are the East section. The represent aspects of the querent (you.) The outer two cards, numbers one and three, are the face that you show the world. The second card in the middle of the other two represents what you keep inside. Your outer two cards were Jade and toad. Jade in the East represents someone who gives a sense of having high personal values and a good work ethic. Jade in the east can point to hard work with lasting effects. (Jade doesn't rust or fade; in China it is valued above gold.) Jade is a lifeless and dull rock until hard work has been put into it. The Toad represents both sickness and health. It reveals someone who is outwardly caring. It can signify either a long healthful life or a health problem. The second card which reveals the hidden aspect of the querent was the Unicorn. This is a really odd placement for the Unicorn card because it suggest someone who has some kind of latent psychic ability, or the ability to see around the corner, yet suggests that this talent is not being used. It represents someone who could see what was coming, if only they tried.

Next come the three cards in the South section, which represents the near future, current issues, or ideas that are being considered. You actually got four cards here because you got a guardian card. When a guardian card is pulled, the diviner pulls a second card, and the guardian card shows what must be achieved for the following card to manifest or, if it's a negative card, how to avoid it. Your first card in this section was the West card. The West card usually refers to another person. This is either a business partner, a marriage, a friendship etc. Showing up in the Southern section, its meaning is shown by the cards that surround it. Next to it was the Phoenix. In the South, the Phoenix signifies a joyous event, a happy time. Next to the West card it says that if you are considering a partnership with someone in the near future, it is a good sign. As you have specified you are already married, it suggests that perhaps it's a business-related partnership, since this is something in the future. More is revealed by the next cards. First you got the Bamboo guardian card, and the card it guards is the Mushroom. The bamboo guardian suggests that the work has to do with creation, specifically: writing. It signifies some form of creative communication. Bamboo was used as art brushes, calligraphy pens etc. so that's where the symbolism of writing comes from. The Mushroom is the strangest card. It reveals something extraordinary, something bizarre and unexpected. Sometimes it represents a person who is willing to break away from tradition. As my book says, it may refer to "some future occurence, as yet unknown, but so extraordinary that the querent will be obliged to recall the oracle's foreknowledge of a remarkable event." Paired with the Bamboo, and close to the Phoenix and West, it seems as if there will be some remarkable partership of creation on the horizon. I know you are a poet and so I am guessing you write prose as well. Now might be the time to ganbatte, you know? ^_^

The next three cards are the West section. The two outer cards reveal negative aspects, problems, danger, or something that will hold you back. The card between them represents what you need to do to fix or avoid those dangers. The two dangers are the Knot and the Duck. These paired together reveal a negative relationship; a partnership holding you back. The Knot is an ambiguous card and often thought to be neither positive nor negative, its interpretation solely dependent on the circumstances around it. It represents binding and unbinding, tying and freeing. Together with the Duck, it always signifies a partnership. In the West, the partnership is a negative one. This represents any kind of close relationship; business, friendship, family, etc. but it always speaks of two people. The card in the center of the West shows how best to cope with this danger. The center West card you got was the Willow. The symbolism of the Willow is clear: Bend with the wind or break. it warns that rigidity of ideas and holding onto problems will cause destruction. The solution to the problem "lies in being ready to change" or modify your plans.

The final three cards are the North section. These reveal the far future: more than a year away. And the final card of these represents the final outcome if a specific question was asked. Here you got the Lotus, Water and House. I'd say these are really great cards, and I'll tell you why! The Lotus is almost always positive. It suggests birth or rebirth. To those who hav ethought that setbacks were insurmountable, this promises the hope of change and newness. New ideas, a new beginning. As Lao Tsu said, What may appear to be a calamity often gives rise to great fortune. The card next to it was Water which suggests communication or travel. Perhaps it is through writing and / or travel that the Lotus will manifest. Since it comes next to the House card it does indeed represent a journey to an actual place: The House card specifically signifies a building or an actual house: walls and a roof and a door etc. It's not a vague reference to land or a metaphorical place. Perhaps, Mayo, you will travel and buy a house? Or maybe there will be a new building in your future, such a s a job or something. Either way, the Lotus card near the end of the reading suggests a happy new turn of events in the future.

And that is your Mah Jongg reading! I hope you liked it. :)

S(S)S, do come by; I ill type up yours in a bit! It takes me a while to research them and do all the interpreting and typing so gimme a few minutes. :D

Anonymous said...

S(S)S, and here is the Mah Jongg oracle reading that I did for you. I'll paste some of the same stuff I told Mayo so you don't have to read them both to get the gist of it.

It begins with the Center card: This is the focal point of the reading. It's either an answer to a question (of which there was no specific one) or points to the querant and says something about them. (That's you.) Your center card was Heaven, believe it or not. Heaven is perfection. There are no negative interpretations. In the center, it specifically means that one aspect of life has ended; it shows completion of something. BUT! As nothing is ever truly over and everything is cyclic, it shows that a new beginning is here. It shows that something very auspicious is about to begin for you. I couldn't be happier that you got this! The surrounding cards go on to reveal the possible nature of this new beginning. Therefore, when we get to the "near and far future" sections, look back to the Heaven card to see how positive these things can turn out.

The next three cards are the East section. The represent aspects of the querent (you.) The outer two cards, numbers one and three, are the face that you show the world. The second card in the middle of the other two represents what you keep inside. Your outer two cards--the face you show the world--are Pearl and Jade. (Mayo got Jade in the East, too, so I hope you don't mind if I copy and paste the same thing I told him.) Jade in the East represents someone who gives a sense of having high personal values and a good work ethic. Jade in the east can point to hard work with lasting effects. (Jade doesn't rust or fade; in China it is valued above gold.) Jade is a lifeless and dull rock until hard work has been put into it. Pearl in the east, however, warns against flattery and extravagance. This is a warning to watch your spending--a warning which, in fact, will be repeated very direly later in the reading! The center East card is the Knot which suggests that you have a nagging doubt about something vitally important. This is something you keep inside. Something is tying you all up inside and should be addressed. Are you a worrier? That's what this card in the second position suggests.

Next come the three cards in the South section, which represents the near future, current issues, or ideas that are being considered. The three cards you got here are Unicorn, Entering and the Carp. The Unicorn shows good fortune when it is in the South, but it also tells you that whatever it is you're thinking about acting on, you should do quickly. This is further shown by the fact that it is next to Entering. The Entering card reveals a door: the beginning of something new. It is favorable in the South and suggests that whatever endeavor you are beginning will be a good one. These two cards together say that now is the time to start for the most fortunate outcome. The Carp comes next, and, oddly, the Carp shows that proceedings that you have dealt with over a long period of time will come to fruition. In the South, where this is, it also signifies a long journey. Combined with the two other cards, this portends a long, prosperous journey. But be warned! In the future, resources might not be there.

The next three cards are the West section. The two outer cards reveal negative aspects, problems, danger, or something that will hold you back. The card between them represents what you need to do to fix or avoid those dangers. Your two dangers are actually very, very odd and really specific. Your two dangers / problems are The Peacock and the Peach. The Peach is very specific: A girl is standing in the way of success. There is a quarrel with a woman. This could be a sister, a friend, a business partner or anyone, but there is a female and she is--probably not even aware of it--holding up some venture. The Peacock in the West is a real drag. It suggests that something you had longed for and cherished, some hope perhaps, will not return. It speaks of the folly of living in a hope for the past. The middle card int he West section shows how to deal with or eradicate these problems. Your middle card in the West is the South card. My little book here is very specific about the South card in this position: "It stresses the need for optimism, and a promise of future success." So, that is not all bad. Let go of the past and be optimistic. most importantly, guard against future lack of resources! In which case, the future will be bright.

The final three cards are the North section. These reveal the far future: more than a year away. And the final card of these represents the final outcome if a specific question was asked. This is where it turns very odd and the warning is repeated to guard what you have now. The first card in this section is the Tortoise, a favorable card for the long term. It reveals that although progress may be slow, things are indeed moving in the right direction for long-term success. Any unfavorable aspects would only have to do with the impatience of waiting. The next card here in the North section is actually the North card. This often shows up as financial trouble and lean times. However, when it is in its own section--as it is here--it shows that the querent will have been forewarned of this, and forearmed. If in a business venture, it often shows an expected, seasonal "dry spell," or losses which have already been insured against. Ahh, but the last card is Fire. In the North, and following the Dragon as it does, it warns that whatever you have gained from a profitable venture could possibly be lost: resources used up. It shows legal tangles, things with money, things with documents. Remember, Fire consumes, so be sure you're not consuming your own fortune on something fruitless.

I think if you put this all together it reveals that your life as a whole is "Heaven," and that at the heart of things, you are fulfilled and will remain fulfilled. But it warns to begin something new now; to be prepared for the future; to be optimistic; to let go of the past and its entanglements (knots) and worries. Be the optimist that you are and all will be well. ^_^

And that is your Mah Jongg oracle reading! Hope you liked reading it. :D

Guess what I did RW? I went out for the second time in a few days. Dun dun dun!

My day's been ok, can't complain. I went to accompany someone to a doctor's appointment in the city, then went for a walk in the zoo while peering at the exhibits.

I'm at home taking care of my neck and shoulder because I tore it during an excessive boxing routine, but I'm getting better.

How was your day?

resurrected wreck said...

Well, goot to hear you're recovering, BC :) But... torn muscle? Ouch! >_<

I'm well, thank you. This an easy week at work. I'm just prepping pattern pieces for 11 men's grey wool suits.

However, it snowed today :/ It didn't stick to the ground, but still. It's only October!

GHOSTS

I am almost afraid of the wind out there.
The dead leaves skip on the porches bare,
The windows clatter and whine.
I sit here in the quiet house. low-lit.
With the clock that ticks and the books that stand.
Wise and silent, on every hand.

I am almost afraid; though I know the night
Lets no ghosts walk in the warm lamplight.
Yet ghosts there are; and they blow, they blow,
Out in the wind and the scattering snow.-
When I open the windows and go to bed,
Will the ghosts come In and stand at my head?

Last night I dreamed they came back again.
I heard them talking; I saw them plain.
They hugged me and held me and loved me; spoke
Of happy doings and friendly folk.
They seemed to have journeyed a week away,
but now they were ready and glad to stay.

But, oh, if they came on the wind to-night
Could I bear their faces, their garments white
Blown in the dark around my lonely bed?
Oh, could I forgive them for being dead?
I am almost afraid of the wind. My shame!
That I would not be glad if my dear ones came!
