Echolocation

It was written from another’s perspective. A recollection of a conversation turned first person. Expensive, anti-climactic words ringing in my ears with an unrelenting need to, once again, find voice. In reverse, they became a bit of guilt unfurled to reveal how my selfish needs superseded best interest. Recall that I held on too long, to that room, to that moment.

“Just say it, say it already”

“I don’t.”

As painful as it may have been to hear it rephrased in that manner, I never meant to be cruel. And now, when the melody of the moment presents itself, I am reminded to never again make that mistake. Although ironically, it was only after repeated cost that it became my lesson. I hope it has become yours, as well.

p.s. volumes like breadcrumbs lead back.

"You are a true friend, without your continuous, unwavering support I would have given up. You believed in me and never gave up on me, even when I didn't believe in myself. It was your words of encouragement that made me fight when I wanted to give up and die. You saved my life."

Don't give up on me now.

I don't want to give up on you, but I need to know why.

Carrie I think that's the thing, it's the dealing with other peoples attitudes that worry you then.
In our town it's not a real issue, or in other areas I've been, not to the extent you see on the news.
We have a number of couples in the town and no one even thinks much about it
There is a much more laid back attitude, but I do know that we have our share of haters also I just don't notice it to be as intense.
But for me, well my parents best friends are a guy couple so I knew them from a baby, my mums cousin is lesbian and so the family is fine with it all, and since then I've worked with and taught both genders .
What gets me is what do they think it'll do? You'll catch "gay"? or they'll try and hit on you? (- like homophobes are sexually irresistable.)
I think it's really unfair they still don't have as many rights in relationships and things too, what difference does it make really?

Carrie, I guess that family members would be the hardest because they are difficult to avoid and they so often have many opinions. In my family, there are some who are vocal about theirs. And it's kind of hard to miss.

Fortunately, most of the people in my immediate family, and most of my cousins don't have much prejudice against much of anything so if I ever had a child who ended up being gay, in my family it wouldn't be too much of a problem for them, family-wise.

The rest of society though, I'm sure would make it difficult. But that is society's fault.

Anonymous said...

And, I just went into my bathroom and saw that my lotions fell down and that's what made that noise.

LOL @ me. ^_^

Carrie said...

I totally agree Ergo, and I'm actually thankful my daughter was comfortable enough to tell me at such a young age. Well, okay, I may have pushed the issue a bit in that it was waaay obvious to me what was going on. I just wanted to know, to be honest. But it's still a hard thing, even when you totally love the child and accept it. Terry has his religion as a hang up, I don't even have that. And it's not like I'm ashamed of her, obviously I will tell the world, it's just not what I expected. I've been brainwashed by culture, I admit that. But she and I must now fashion our new reality, and that's cool. My biggest problem now is so far she has truly tragic taste in girlfriends. :)

Mayo

So done reading the book? I mean come on you had the whole weekend. Yeah, I know I’m being annoying. Hey just add that to my other list of traits the anons have given me. Fake goody-two-shoes, over dramatic, oh and yeah I make up things about my life. Shit, if I was going to make up things believe me I could do better than the stuff I’ve actually written that has all be true by the way. Oh well, what difference does it make what some people think? I know it shouldn’t. I know the truth. I know I never trash anyone under anon, never have, never will. But can I prove it? Hell no. This is the Internet. Home of so much bullshit it’s unbelievable.

Today I went to our church picnic. It was okay. Spent a lot of money trying to win prizes I didn’t really want but it was for a good cause. Middle daughter won a cake. I won gift certificates for pizzas. The girls were happy about that. It’s weird but this is the first year I just felt sorta alone. I mean I was there with Fred and the daughters both made appearances but something was just different. Maybe it’s just me. Just one of those days were I wasn’t connecting with people. Ever feel like that? Like you are surrounded by people but you feel all alone? It’s almost like you’re not really there. You can see and hear everyone around you but you’re not part of it. Oh shit, just add crazy to my list of traits. I’m not really explaining myself well but that’s how I felt.

So anyway you need something to do for tomorrow. Okay there is a movie I think you might like. It’s called “Blue Gardenia”. The movie is old, from the 1950’s. Hey it’s even got a character named Mayo in it. I just remembered that. Okay that’s weird. Anyway, give it a try.

Well lots to do and the hour grows late or early depending on how you look at it. Take care. Okay, I’m gonna say something. I mean we’ve already established I’m crazy so no worries, right? Mayo, you seem very far away to me. Don’t ask to me explain cause I can’t really. It’s just how I feel. It makes me sad. I hope you’re okay.

Night Mayo

Elena (I have the Adam Ant song stuck in my head now)

toujours said...

mayo,

i had plenty of time to think today, and i found myself wondering if the meaning of your title/postcript combination was attached to your text, or separate. knowing you, probably both. *grin*

this afternoon when i re-read it (because i always print them out now, you know), i read it through the filter the title/postcript gave me, and so read it with idea of finding one's way. the postscript particularly gave me that idea, because it reminded me of my journals, brought to me the idea that looking back over certain events helps us to understand them, helps us to find where they fit in our lives.

and then i had to smile because "echolocation" made me think of what you wrote once about us being a mirror...bounce things off the blog to see where you are more clearly, it's a sort of reflection, isn't it?

it's a good time to look back and re-evaluate. autumn equinox is coming up, and one of its themes is balance, the idea of that moment where you are poised on the threshold, and you can see where you are going, and where you have been.

just remember that it must be a balance. don't spend too much time looking back. the insights you gain must be used to fuel your path forward, and not as a place to dwell, for whatever purpose you might linger (trust me, i know what i'm talking about).

our life's experiences are not meant to bind us in remorse and grief, mayo. they are meant to shape us, each as we need, in order to be our best selves.

that's my philosophy, anyway.

good night, mayo. beautiful dreams and a beautiful day to you.

What is it that you get out of toying with so many?

Mayo.

Redrum.

GV.

What is it? Pleasure? Amusement? A moment of certainty that you are not alone in your misery?

You make me want to vomit. People that toy with others emotions will never deserve real affection. Real love. Real understanding. Real faith. You throw those things away like bits of paper. Words, emotions, feelings, promises, like bits of soiled paper.

You will never deserve real love. Just keep playing with your toys until you have no one left to play with. And that will be in honesty, finally, all that you deserve.

Anonymous said...

4:12
i don't toy with people's emotions. the love, understanding faith, emotions and feelings i have are all very real.
i am sorry if you are confused and doubt the sincerity of my words and question whom they are meant to reach. i can assure you i do keep my promises.

Anonymous said...

I was addressing Mayo, Redrum and GV.

But you did know that didn't you...

I am not confused. Don't feel sorry for me. I only feel sorry for you and those you continue to toy with. Look around you. Do you not see that you have hurt people?

If that is not you then sign in. Tell the person you so desperately care for who they are and what they mean to you. As you would do, if you were sincere.

But as you are not, as you simply prefer to reel more in, well then, it only proves my point doesn't it?

I wonder what you are like in the real world. Do you have people there that flock so easily to your words? Or is the lack of those who truly know you and truly care, your very reason for playing with the people here?

I am sorry for you. But these people don't deserve your falacy. Nor do you for that matter. Try for once to be honest. See how it feels. You only fail if you never try.

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.

Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote 'The Hokie Pokey' died peacefully at the age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

Shut up. You know it's funny.

Pink Floyd member Richard Wright dies at age 65
Sept. 15, 2008, 11:47 AM EST
LONDON (AP) -- A Pink Floyd spokesman says founding member Richard Wright has died. He was 65.

Wright died Monday after a battle with cancer at his home in Britain. His family did not want to give more details about his death. The spokesman is Doug Wright, who is not related to the artist.

Richard Wright met Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and Nick Mason at college and joined their early band Sigma 6.

Sigma 6 eventually became Pink Floyd and Wright wrote and sang some of the band's key songs. He wrote "The Great Gig In The Sky" and "Us And Them" from Pink Floyd's 1973 "The Dark Side of the Moon."

At one point some girl in the crowd shouted 'I Love You Frank.' However Frank responded with and I quote, "Oh man, you know we could go out to a show together, go see a movie, get a bite to eat, then have a couple cocktails and I still wouldn't fuck you."

Reading this and other quotes he has said to people, I believe he called someone a cunt more and more.

So being in a SO HARDCORE band gave him the right to be an asshole? Because he never said things like that playing in My Chem. Heck, he would smile.

you're probably right. you can just tell that there is a big riff going on between him and Gerard. Gerard hasn't even gone to see one of the Reggie and Leathermouth shows. Mikey, Alicia, and Ray have all been there. Bob gets a pass because of his surgery, but Gerard is nowhere to be found.

As it appears that the worm is turning maybe Gerard has good reason to keep Frank at a distance.

Frank should remember where the money came from that enables him to indulge in his little personal projects. He may not like the fangirl attention he gets now but he must take some responsibility for how he is perceived by these fans- kissing/licking/touching Gerard in front of very young girls.

He should really take the time to be more tactful and remember to show some gratitude/respect to those who put him where he is. We all know the majority of MCR fans are aged 16 and under.

Oblivion is never far away and I bet he would miss the attention if it was no longer there.

So all band members except Gerard have been to see Frank and Reggie on this tour. It's becoming so obvious Frank and Gerard are no longer friends that even the fan girls must be feeling it.

I don't blame Frank one bit. Must make it awkward for the others, especially Mikey, though.

Anonymous said...

I feel really bad for the girls he is telling off. He probably broke their hearts getting snubbed like that.

Anonymous said...

Actually I don't think Frank would. He has always seemed to be just about playing shows, not about how many people come to see them, or the attention he gets.

Anonymous said...

Do I believe Frank actually made the "I still wouldn't fuck you," remark? Maybe, maybe not.

With these kinds of things, it's like the game Chinese Whispers. People don't have 100 percent auditory recall.

I'll wait to pass judgement until I see video evidence.

Yes it would be crushing for them at the time, but he appears adamant to get the point across that they don't even know him. and maybe they should focus their real love on people in their lives that they do actually know. that is what is important.

Anonymous said...

Frank shows his appreciation by coming out after shows, rain or shine to meet kids. That's more than Gerard ever does.

Anonymous said...

At one point some girl in the crowd shouted 'I Love You Frank.' However Frank responded with and I quote, "Oh man, you know we could go out to a show together, go see a movie, get a bite to eat, then have a couple cocktails and I still wouldn't fuck you."

Wow a little too far? She said she "loved" him, not wanted to fuck him. He's taking it too seriously. How many times has he heard that and responded that way?
He should know it's the heat of the moment, the show, and expect that and learn to ignore it.

:/

Anonymous said...

no offense but i agree with you guys....it was kinda mean of frank =[

iawtc. at my show a girl screamed she loved him and wanted to have his babies and he said something along the lines of 'that's weird, you can love someone you don't know and yet you probably end up hating the people you do know.'

Anonymous said...

You should really think about learning, its not hard.

Very true!!

Anonymous said...

That is what's important? To teach a bunch of ignorant 13 year old a lesson by breaking their hearts? Okay.

And here one said it was all about playing the music for him, not making sure the fans know his true asshole side so they don't "love" him.

Anonymous said...

i've never seen a band more disgruntled by who their fanbase is. it's sad.

Anonymous said...

He has NEVER responded to fans like this before. I am so shocked.

Anonymous said...

I just talked to a friend of mine who was at that show and she said Frand DID NOT say that.

According to her and three other people who went with her, Frank said "I still wouldn't say shit like that to you."

Anonymous said...

i've never seen a band more disgruntled by who their fanbase is. it's sad.

That is so true. He really is taking tips from Gerard on how to eliminate most their fanbase, isn't he?

Anonymous said...

i am trying to picture myself in the shoes of the girls and i cant! thats so mean. i would be so sad i think i would cry =[

Anonymous said...

Of course I should trust your friend!

It's a game of he said she said that probably no one has right.

Anonymous said...

why would anyone make up the quote of him saying i still wouldnt fuck you? the whole date thing sounds like somethng he would say.

Anonymous said...

Even if that is what was said it was still meant to hurt and belittle the recipient. Why did he have to humiliate her publically like that?

People have been screaming at their idols since Elvis-he should be mature enough to know it is her hormones talking. I bet she does not love him today!

It shows a nasty, unattractive streak. But of course he knows all about psychology-yeah right-I think he made a good career move by not entering that field of work!

Anonymous said...

It's a game of he said she said that probably no one has right.

Exactly. Do you have any idea how many times people get misquoted at these things? There's always a lot of noise, people screaming and fans get excited. All of this interferes with auditory recall - which isn't that reliable anyway.

Let's wait for more evidence than one fan's review before we all jump to conclusions.

Anonymous said...

It's like they're [Frank & Gerard] trying to intentionally lose their fans so when they don't coma back from their "break", there would be les to disappoint.

Anonymous said...

I lost alot of respect for Frank today.

Anonymous said...

Why did he have to humiliate her publically like that?

I'm sorry, but any girl who screams out loud in public that she loves some guy she doesn't even know is humiliating herself.

Were you ever a teenager or did you suddenly go from 11 to 30 just like that?

Anonymous said...

I think you'll find Frank is being seriously misquoted at some of these shows. Some people seem to want to think the worst and I guess thats their prerogative.

Here's the thing, if you go to a show just to drool over the singer, or scream at him that you want to have his babies, from the bands perspective, thats heartbreaking. Especially when there are kids out there that dig your band and are really bummed cos they couldn't get a ticket.

Anonymous said...

I lost alot of respect for Frank today.

Well, half the fandom lost respect for Gerard when he pitched his little diva fit at PR last year.

So, why not just pack the fuck up and go home, people.

MCR is as good as over.

Anonymous said...

Were you ever a teenager or did you suddenly go from 11 to 30 just like that?

Yes, I was once a teenager, but I never acted like that, not even when I was 11. I had more respect for myself than that, thanks.

Anonymous said...

Yes, this. He is twenty-six, she is in her early teens. Old enough to know better.

I'm sorry, but any girl who screams out loud in public that she loves some guy she doesn't even know is humiliating herself.

But not intentionlly like he is. She's young, I'm sure years from know she would look back facepalming but with a frown because of the reaction she got.

He shouldn't have lowered himself to that level.

Anonymous said...

This is just a smear job against Frank by Gerard fangirls.

Sorry, girlies. Frank could never in a million, zillion years be as much of a dick as Gerard.

Far too many of us have met Frank and seen how incredibly sweet he is. So give it up. You aren't changing anyone's mind.

Anonymous said...

^Yeah. What she said.

Anonymous said...

Do you really think this could be deliberate? I just thought it was a case of being misheard and misquoted.

Anonymous said...

No offense but if it wasnt for Frank being in MCR Leathermouth would be nowhere near as successful. You know its true, and Im sorry but it is. People wouldnt even listen to the songs if it wasnt for Frank. They would be nothing. I believe 2% of the people going out to the shows genuinely love the music. All the rest are fuckers that only love leathermouth for Frank and anyone who disagrees is just in denial.

You wouldnt give two shits about Leathermouth if it wasnt for Frank and you fucking know its true. Go ahead and pretend Leathermouth are the best thing in the world but if it wasnt for Frank you couldnt care less.

Thats what really fucking pisses me off. All of you people that pretend to love Leathermouth. YOU ONLY DO IT FOR FRANK. You cant even fucking remember the names of the other guys in the band, can you? Didnt think so. I can only imagine how they feel. Im so fucking pissed off.

Anonymous said...

"Anon",(lol defending yourself) so his first reaction is to piss on their love?

Fucking deal with it, the fans that drool over the singer. Every band is going to have them.

I bet you for as many OMG LUV U FRANK there were fans that actually loved tha band and even your handful of Reggie fans that hated Leathermouth.

Anonymous said...

Far too many of us have met Frank and seen how incredibly sweet he is.

Too true. And far too many of us have seen first hand what an asshole Gerard is.

Anonymous said...

Lol. Frank haters unite! (all three of you)

And then go jump off a fucking pier.

My friend met Gerard and asked for a hug and he told her he 'didn't do hugs' THAT WAS HEARTBREAKING! What a dick!

Anonymous said...

I remember when people began to raise doubts about Gerard's character there were people jumping down their throats because noone was allowed to say anything against St Gerard.

I have seen the same people transfer total allegience to St Frank since Gerard's foibles were proven. And the same pattern will play out.

Who will become the next golden boy when the same is proven with Frank?

Were you a Gerard Defender back in the day?

Not a Gerard fangirl x

Anonymous said...

And you know personally that the fans that do dig the band didn't get tickets?

See, I would get going off on a fan during one show 'cause you can only take so much. But I keep hearing, yeah! At my show he told this girl off, too!!

Doing it at every show smells more like trying to get a stupid message across.
And it is a stupid one because we all see how that goes well with Gerard.

Anonymous said...

And then go jump off a fucking pier.

Go stare at his dick some more you want to suck so much.

Go stare at his dick some more you want to suck so much.

I'm sorry, but were you the girl Frank said he wouldn't fuck? Must've hurt like hell, huh, hun?

Anonymous said...

Go stare at his dick some more you want to suck so much.

Um, that sentence didn't even make sense. Why don't you go do your homework in remedial English and give the Frank hate a rest?

Anonymous said...

I wish he had said that to the OPS.

Anonymous said...

Total change of topic almost, but this is a pretty cool read.

It concerns all of us as listeners and fans of music, and also as partial determining factors of what "makes it" and what doesn't.

What do you guys think?

*comes in extremely late due to "circumstances beyond my control"*

Hello Mayo, SS, Ergo, Elena, BC, Sdock, RW, Mustard, Carrie, Possum; everyone I missed; various anons, watchers and lurkers; all intelligient life in the blogbelieve galaxy!

How are you all today? Happy, well, and not experiencing 'circurmstances beyond your control'.

Come to think of it, aren't most circumstances beyond our control? I mean, there really is very little (beyond ourselves) that we can control (when you really think about it). Hmmm....

I suppose that should be enough to ponder today; but, it's not! Not for me, anyway!
;)

For additional pondering consideration today:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self."
Aristotle
"The best time for you to hold your tongue is the time you feel you must say something or bust."
Josh Billings
"Prudent, cautious self-control, is wisdom's root."
Robert Burns
and, last but not least:
“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.”
Brian Tracy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I hope you are all happily exercising some self control today!
Have a great evening/night/morning!

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
