Echolocation

It was written from another’s perspective. A recollection of a conversation turned first person. Expensive, anti-climactic words ringing in my ears with an unrelenting need to, once again, find voice. In reverse, they became a bit of guilt unfurled to reveal how my selfish needs superseded best interest. Recall that I held on too long, to that room, to that moment.

“Just say it, say it already”

“I don’t.”

As painful as it may have been to hear it rephrased in that manner, I never meant to be cruel. And now, when the melody of the moment presents itself, I am reminded to never again make that mistake. Although ironically, it was only after repeated cost that it became my lesson. I hope it has become yours, as well.

p.s. volumes like breadcrumbs lead back.

I'll be ok, having to go out this morning made it feel worse, I'm just gonna rest a bit now

Anonymous said...

Ice cream, very, very nice.

Anonymous said...

Ergo? You sick? Did you eat ice cream and ride on a bus, too?:(

toujours said...

Sorry about that.

Hello, and should we? Do we have to pass through the pearly gates, first? I heard that's a tough guest list to make.

Anonymous said...

Yes, ice cream is very nice. Mmmm. I decided to share. ^_^

Ergo, I'm sorry you feel icky.

TJ, I tried green tea soy ice cream and it was naaaasTY. Maybe the soy part was what threw it off.

toujours said...

back.

oh, redrum, no no no. i don't think i'd be welcome there. have to have the ice cream somewhere else.

Anonymous said...

Now by "pearly gates..." ;)

toujours said...

Anonymous said...

Yes, very yummy.

It's the simple things in life that are always the best ^_^

Have a great night gals. Goodnight.

Anonymous said...

Oh man I even tried to put chips in it and it didn't make it taste good. Maybe I'll look for some real cream next time.

Oh, Solly says to say that we never exactly made it into actual heaven. Just kind of the outskirts.

ergoproxy said...

I have never tried green tea ice cream, but i have green tea perfume

ergoproxy said...

ok K by chips do you mean like fries or potato crisps?
or choc chips?

toujours said...

good night 1:30. :)

yeah, don't judge the flavor until you've had the real thing, kapunua. *whew*

green tea perfume, ergo? i am intrigued.

Anonymous said...

How scandalous.

ergoproxy said...

It's really nice TJ
sort of fresh but very slightly floral, very light and summery

Anonymous said...

The sisters say to Redrum: "Scandalous? Have you found your pants yet?" ^_^

Ergo, by chips I mean chocolate chips. Ghirardelli dark chocolate.

Bitter and dark, mmm hmm!

toujours said...

redrum, you're the one walking around without pants. how can you say "scandalous"?

it sounds very nice, ergo. maybe i'll look for it over here. :)

ergoproxy said...

I was hoping so K
I love dark chocolate

but we used to play a game at McDonalds called "find the chip" only the person playing it didn't know
you'd wait till someone wasn't looking at their sundae and stick a fry down into it, it took skill as if you weren't careful it was obvious, then they played find the chip.
We got one person to find about 6 chips once, he got up to go to the toilet, got half way through before he realised he was playing
(oh we were all about 19 to 22 yo as well)

Anonymous said...

So, good night everyone! ^_^ Nice to read you all.

Good night, Mayo! I hope you enjoyed yoru bite of Midnight Reverie.

Good night S(S)S! We hope you like your Mickey Mouse ears. :)

ergoproxy said...

ahhhh I have coffee now

that is nice....

toujours said...

and i have a bad latin translation of a small moon prayer i wrote last year.

also nice. :)

ergoproxy said...

oh what is a moon prayer TJ?

toujours said...

it was just a little greeting i wrote to say whenever i saw the moon, ergo. it just sounds more...magical in latin. :)

ergoproxy said...

oh yes I bet it does, like things sound more romantic in french and italian

can you show me?

Anonymous said...

I'm off for the night. Goodnight guys.

Sugarplum: thank you for the tiara. I hope you have a awesome weekend and Saturday *smothers with kisses* :)

toujours said...

sure, but not the latin -- i'm sure it really is atrocious. :)

but in english: merry meet, beautiful lady moon, she with the shining silver smile, i salute you.

toujours said...

good night bc. sweet dreams. :)

ergoproxy said...

goodnight Bc sweet dreams

that is really nice TJ, I bet it sounds lovely in latin too

toujours said...

it does, and i don't think she minds the poor grammar of it.

i had translated it out before, but didn't it bring it with me on the road. and tonight i wanted to do something real, so i pulled out a little scene i had written a few weeks ago, and i'm polishing it up and making it into a word document. the prayer is in it, you see, and i didn't bother to try to write it down in latin just for the sketch, but now i want it in the scene proper.

ergoproxy said...

what a great idea, it makes it very special that you've done it yourself

toujours said...

you know, i usually do write my prayers myself, and it just seemed to fit there in the scene, so, why not? :)

ergoproxy said...

definitely!

when I see the moon tonight I'll think of you saying it

toujours said...

aw, thank you! :)

hey, are you feeling better?

ergoproxy said...

I feel a bit better now it's cooler, and the coffee helped.
I still feel really tired though I think I'll have an earlier night

toujours said...

i hope it's nothing. that you're feeling better is good. my fingers are still crossed for you!

ergoproxy said...

thanks TJ well I might sign off, I have a treatment to put through my hair, and I think I'll have a little lie down before dinner

have a good night, I'll come back in a bit,
wonder when we'll get a new post, hope it's before I go

take care and sweet dreams TJ

toujours said...

i hope we get a new post too, ergo, especially for your sake! it was good talking with you, be well.

:)

toujours said...

mayo,

writing helps. as does time spent just chatting with friends. it's helped.

that awful feeling is muffled, i think i can sleep easily. i almost want to stay up -- and not from fear but just to keep working on this story (i found a way to combine two little scenarios, and oh my gosh there might be the glimmer of a plot now!) -- but the mantel clock just chimed three, and i know i have to sleep.

i have to get up, i can't just sleep in, not even on a saturday. there's little i can do, but the pressure is still there to at least make some attempt at being a productive adult.

but my courage is as sere and dry as the field across the yard.

still, must pretend, and so must go to bed.

i'll write some more tomorrow. it will give me something to look forward to.

good night, my friend.

Oh, nevermind!

Editoral note:

Wanderlust
Nightwish

I want to see where the sirens sing
Hear how the wolves howl
Sail the dead calm waters of the Pacific

Dance in the fields of coral
Be blinded by the white
Discover the deepest jungle

I want to find The Secret Path
A bird delivered into my heart, so

It's not the end
Not the kingdom come
It is the journey that matters, the distant wanderer
Call of the wild
In me forever and ever and ever forever
Wanderlust

I want to love by the Blue Lagoon
Kiss under the waning moon
Straying, claiming my place in this mortal coil

Riding the dolphins
Asking the mountains
Dreaming Alaska
The Earth can have but Earth

I want to find...

It's not the end...

Look into my eyes and see the wanderer
See the mirrors of a wolf behold the pathfinder

Well you have about 24 hrs to give me a new post to read, or I'll have to rely on some lovely individual to email it to me. And you wouldn't want that would you? Denying me the pleasure of a first hand reading of your words? Missing out on my insightful interpretations and ....well I may just stop now before you fall off your chair laughing. You enjoy your weekend Mayo, really I'm not worried about you posting, just joshing with you, buuuuut if you could find it in your heart....

Late dawns and early sunsets, just like my favorite scenes
Then holding hands and life was perfect, just like up on the screen
And the whole time while always giving
Counting your face among the living

Up and down escalators, pennies and colder fountains
Elevators and half price sales, trapped in by all these mountains
Running away and hiding with you
I never thought they'd get me here
Not knowing you'd change from just one bite
I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And well should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger,
Your eyes vacant and stained...

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
And would anything matter if you're already dead?
And now should I be shocked by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger,
Your eyes vacant and stained...
And in saying you loved me,
Made things harder at best,
And these words changing nothing
As your body remains,
And there's no room in this hell,
There's no room in the next,
And our memories defeat us,
And I'll end this direst.

But does anyone notice?
But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head...
But does anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger,
Your eyes vacant and stained...
And in saying you loved me,
Made things harder at best,
And these words changing nothing
As your body remains,
And there's no room in this hell,
There's no room in the next,
But does anyone notice there's a corpse in this bed?

Are you being sarcastic? I hate Early Sunsets. The only good part is the guitar in the beginning. Gerard sounds like a dying animal in it. But then, he was singing with "half a face." Lol.

She is so lovely and noble and also reallly funny.

I ♥ them! You have to meet them to believe it! mY FAMILY LOVED THEM, TOO. tHEY ARE SO CHARMING.

sO mAYO, i BOUGHT YOU YOUR OWN MIDNGHT REVERIE. i HOPE YOU LIKE IT. bITTER AND DARK, MY STRANGE FRIEND.

Okay, I hate this goddamn keyboard. I ht the meffing capslock but now I don't feel liike going back to change it. Eff that! Sorry about the yelling. We all hate this keyboard. It sucks.

S(S)S, I hope you don't mind if I momentarily pull a switcheroo, just for today, and tip my Mickey ears to you instead. I bought you some Mickey ears too! Except maybe the Stitch ones are better? ^_^

Update:

Gavin DeGraw wasn't aboard the plane and neither was Perry Farrell.

A rep for Gavin DeGraw says the singer was not on the plane. MTV.com also reports that Perry Farrell's manager, Peter Katsis, confirms Farrell also was not onboard.

Both Travis and DJ AM are in critical, but stable, condition.

From here.

hello.

i was just over at my lj, and one of my friends there -- probably my closest friend from the batch that i made at the tbp concert, and one of the women i made the california leg of my road trip with -- i just found out that her mom died.

she wasn't sick or anything. she just had chest pains last night and went to the hospital, and they checked her out and she had to have emergency surgery -- an aortic dissection -- and now she's gone.

and i'm so stupid, i only met this woman once and she was so nice, but it's still such a shock. i keep thinking about my friend, i don't know what this is going to do to her. and i'm crying and i don't know why, except that it's awful.

Anonymous said...

I'm really sorry, TJ. I'll be thinking about her.

toujours said...

thank you, mustard. she takes things so hard, i'm worried about her.

Anonymous said...

Of course you are. Does she have someone close to her, family or friends, that can help her through it? It's obviously going to be difficult for her, so if she knows you're there and she has a tight support group helping her, it might take some of the hurt and pain away for her.

toujours said...

fortunately, she has a very solid circle of friends and family right there in seattle, as well as on the internet. her best friend lost her own mom to cancer this year, so i'm hoping that the two of them will be able to lean on each other.

she has my cell and email, so of course i wrote her an email right away to let her know that i'm there for her 24/7. it's hard not actually being there though. she's such a sweet and generous young woman.

Anonymous said...

That's really great. At the very least, she knows there a people ready and willing to help her and be there for her and her family when they need it most. I'll continue to keep her in my thoughts. I hope she finds some comfort.

This day couldn't have started off on more a wrong foot, huh? Bad news all around today.

That would be a total bummer, though the audience might just think it was part of the show.

Anon that's not something to wish on anyone, even your worst enemy.

ergoproxy said...

CJ anons often say things like that just to try and get reactions, I agree it's an awful thing to say, but best idea is to just try and ignore them I find.
many seem to be very unpleasant people

Mayo,

HiYa, How are things going? I hope you are feeling happy, well, and loved.

You know what time it is, right? It's time for me to thank you again for allowing us to use your blog, your space as our gathering place. It truly is awesome and kind of beyond words to describe what it is like to meet up. It's like some crazy dream come true. I mean, if you sit down and really think about it, it boggles the mind. Through this blog, so many great things have happened. And it's all because of you.

Thanks again, Mayo. I just wish you could have been there. We would have made your eyes rain with laughter and let you eat ice cream in heaven with us.

Love to YOU Always,
S

p.s. Even Mickahhh Mouse was jealous!

resurrected wreck said...

Gonna shower & primp.

Have a good night, all :)

Mayo,

It's been a long time, dude, but for some reason, I was like, "Um, someone might need to hear this?"

This is going to sound totally odd, but when things happen in your world, in your little bubble like they did today for me and for a lot of us, it seriously makes you take a gut check.

And what's so sad is it takes the death of others, the pain of others, to make you re-evaluate your whole world. It seems like we should be aware of that stuff already, but it doesn't sink in until it happens to someone who's within your reach.

The good thing that comes out of such a horrible tragedy like this is the outpouring of support. Messageboards were littered with RIPs and Get Better Soons, and all for people they didn't even know. That makes me understand things in some weird way, and it makes me love this community even more.

I'm pretty sure we are the tie that binds.

Hold them tight tonight, dude. You have to tell them the shit you never thought you would, and make them understand.

Goodnight. :)

SS,

I hope you and your friends and family are well tonight and always. Take care of yourself, buddy.

Love me cancerously
Like a salt-sore soaked in the sea.
'High-maintenance' means
You're a gluttonous queen
Narcissistic and mean.
Kill me romantically
Fill my soul with vomit
Then ask me for a piece of gum.
Bitter and dumb
You're my sugarplum.
You're awful, I love you!

She moves through moonbeams slowly
She knows just how to hold me
And when her edges soften
Her body is my coffin
I know she drains me slowly
She wears me down to bones in bed

Must be the sign on my head
That says, oh...
Love me dead! Love me dead!

You're a faith-healer on T.V.
You're an office park without any trees
Corporate and cold
Gushing for gold
Leave me alone.
You suck so passionately
You're a parasitic, psycho, filthy creature
finger-bangin' my heart
You call me up drunk
Does the fun ever start?
You're hideous and sexy!

Must be the sign on my head
That says, oh...
Love me dead! Love me dead!

Love me cancerously
Brrrot-dot-da-d-da-da!
How's your new boy?
Does he know about me?
You've got the mark of the beast.
You're born of a jackal! You're beautiful!

Wha' 'bout that sign on my head
That says, oh...
Love me dead!

resurrected wreck said...

That sucks :(

Mine was good. I didn't do much. I had a long work week so all I really want to do this weekend is read and relax.

toujours said...

oh, reading weekends are very nice. :)

especially now that's it's coming on to real autumnal weather. that's when i want to curl up with a book and a mug of something hot the most.

Anonymous said...

because i want to try to focus on developing my writing, what i do to earn a living in the meantime can be anything, resurrected wreck. i haven't had a lot of jobs, but they range from office help to motel maid, so my skills are pretty varied. jill-of-all-trades, master of none. :)

I've done stints in retail & the tourist trade. Some jobs were better than others. It depended mainly on who I worked with & how the supervisors behaved.
