So...does this mean we’re going steady?

(It was by chance or perhaps happenstance.)

An Awkward Moment’s Legend.

It was one year ago today that I held your hand.
You asked if he did a good job.
It was a good job, wasn’t it?
It was, thank you.
You were quiet, I rambled
And you held my hand.
Can I get that for you? Oh yeah, sure.
I didn’t want to leave you,
You seemed to need
More time, one less drink, and one more smoke.
And I was intent on permanence.

Then, as is now, time passes like a plunge.
I am far, but not for long.
Do you miss me? Yes, I do.
I can’t hold your hand.
You will, soon enough.
In the meantime, I am waiting, asking
Are you sleeping to the sound of my voice?
I know you hear me, you do.
And this is ours,
A moment in time, continued.
And I am intent on permanence.

(How life can change, so quickly. In a moment, in a hand, it can shift. And everything that was will never be the same, in a good way, in the best way.)

p.s. shall we get matching rings? (Go on, laugh. I am.)

Hello Mustard :)

Smoke said...

Hey GS and MUUUUSSTTTAAARRDDD!!! :)

gnothi seauton said...

So, what's new?

Anonymous said...

Nothing.

Anything new with you?

gnothi seauton said...

Blogger, please stop doing this. For the fourth time ...

...nope.

gnothi seauton said...

I don't know if anyone saw my comment on the last page...

... what's your favourite sensation?

Anonymous said...

Boy, are we one hell of a lively bunch tonight, or what?!

I have nothing to talk about.

I'm stumped.

Anonymous said...

Oh, yeah!

I like opening my window in the winter time and getting it really cold inside. Then after showering, putting on comfy P.J.s and climbing into a cold bed.

I'm so weird.

gnothi seauton said...

No, that's not weird, I get that.

How about using a really hard hair brush and brushing right into the nape of your neck so that it tingles?

Smoke said...

GS!

I thought I was the only one that did that. ^_^

Anonymous said...

Yeah!

And it makes you involuntarily shiver!

Ooo, what about when you put warm clothes on right after they've been taken out of the clothes dryer?

gnothi seauton said...

Haven't got a clothes dryer, sorry, don't know that sensation :S

Smoke, yeah, it's cool isn't it ^_^

How about, no, hang on, can't do that one, you two are afraid of creepy crawlies.

Ummmm...

Anonymous said...

Swear, only I could get a bed half the size of my old one and somehow manage to have less space than before. O_o

Smoke said...

O_O

No creepy crawlies!!!

Mustard,

LHM loves putting on his clothes right after they come out of the dryer. He also loves to lay down on top of the heater vent with a blanket thrown on top of him.

Smoke said...

Hey Jules!

gnothi seauton said...

Kapunua - Do you have an inverted TARDIS for a bedroom?

Anonymous said...

Hey Jules! Pretty sure you're not the only one. I'm highly capable of doing that.

Smoke:

Aw, that's so cute!

Anonymous said...

I still get tingles when the person I love rests their hand on my leg or softly tickles the back of my neck - especially when Im driving.

gnothi seauton said...

Or pushing your way through hedges and trees and the branches scratch at your skin but it doesn't feel painful, just refreshing, like you have been scrubbed.

Anonymous said...

Or when your hands are super super cold and you get the tap water really hot and just let the water run over them.

I love that.

gnothi seauton said...

Ahh, Anon, don't get me started on necks. We could be here for hours! My favourite part of the body :)

ergoproxy said...

I can fill any space with stuff!

favourite sensation- diving into a cool creek and swimming underwater.

Anonymous said...

It's a very sensitive body part. No wonder we get the heebie-jeebies when it's touched.

And it's always the back, never the sides.

Ever noticed that?

gnothi seauton said...

I still get tingles when the person I love rests their hand on my leg or softly tickles the back of my neck -

Or very gently runs their fingers along the inside of your arm, feather light touches. Sends my whole body a shiver.

ergoproxy said...

oh necks! I love to do it to someone but being touched lightly on the neck or feet drives me nuts! I hate it!!
firmer rubbing or massaging is fine but I am way too ticklish

Anonymous said...

Favorite Sensation:
Realizing your words have value.

It tickles...

Anonymous said...

Or having someone play with your hair or rub your head.

Pretty much the best feeling.

ergoproxy said...

I love having a hand rested on me when you're sitting together and getting my hair washed, just sitting back at the hairdresser ...ahhhh..

Anonymous said...

Anon, that's a great one.

ergoproxy said...

anon that is very true, realizing you made a difference, that was one of the best parts of teaching, meeting the kids after they've been out of school and they still remember things I said

gnothi seauton said...

Ergo - that sounds sublime :)

Mustard - no, front, sides, back, makes no difference to me :)

Or when your hands are super super cold and you get the tap water really hot and just let the water run over them.

My grandpa said this is how you get chilblains. Don't know if that's true.

Anonymous said...

and they still remember things I said

It really is a great feeling to know that some words you said have made an impact. With children, I think it's even more rewarding, but in general, it's an awesome feeling.

ergoproxy said...

actually great sensation is running your fingers in someones hair or neck and feeling them shiver

ergoproxy said...

GS you must be like my husband,he loves it, I can put him to sleep he gets so relaxed sometimes

Anonymous said...

Another?

Knowing one can post under "Anonymous" when needed and not be attacked.

gnothi seauton said...

Ergo - I used to be able to put my ex to sleep by drawing circles very gently in the small of his back.

Smoke said...

See, I don't like for people to touch me so I get all icky.

I don't like it at all.

Anonymous said...

What are chilblains, GS? Maybe I shouldn't do this anymore :/

Anonymous said...

And there are those who walk among us.

Whatever makes you comfortable, and as long as the words don't hurt.

ergoproxy said...

I know I have already thanked you for your comments today but I wanted to tell you something.

I really hope that you know what your words and your presence means to the people in this little family, not just the people in blue but also the people who are under the anonymous name.

Your comment @ 11.36am today particularly stood out in more ways then one.

A friend of mine that I was fortunate to meet in this blog, whom has become a very good friend and one that I will keep in contact with, recently lost someone very dear to her. Her grandpa passed away last week, and I know that it is very hard to lose someone in your family. In this particular comment you stated “Never miss an opportunity to tell those you love how much they mean to you.” Well, my friend wasn’t really close to her grandpa but she wanted to be. She wanted to be closer and she wished she had told him how much she loved him, unfortunately though they were separated by living in different countries. When she read your comment, you made her cry just by simply using your words to help others. The words made her think of her situation with her grandpa and the memories that they had made when she was younger. she cant make more memories with him now but she can cherish the ones that remain in her mind and her heart.

You touched someone who needed to hear those words and with that she wants to say thank you. She hopes that you really do know what your words bring to this place and that she hopes you take your own advice and make your memories special. Cherish the ones you love and live life to the full. Remember everything about the ones you love and tell them as often as you can, how you really feel about them because you never know when you may never get to see, hear or touch them again.

Thank you for your words, and thank you for what you did for my friend. You have so much of my respect and I would like to call you my friend.

Nice analogy ;)

gnothi seauton said...

Smoke - you are missing out on sooo much :(

Mustard - umm, it's like when your extremities get really red from the cold and start to swell, like frostbite but not quite as serious. Grandpa always said that you need to warm up slowly, you can have baths etc just not mega hot. I don't know if it's true, it's always stuck with me * shrugs *

Anonymous said...

No, maybe not an analogy. It's a simile for sure.

Please know I did, in fact, pay attention in English class.

Anonymous said...

Oh, jeez.

I didn't know. I'll refrain from doing that from now on.

Smoke said...

Only not really because Betty Crocker would have to support my ass in this endeavor.

gnothi seauton said...

Hello Star. How are you?

Anonymous said...

Yes, S&V20!
You know what I always wondered about?
I'm going to tell you!

To me, cupcakes are infinitely tastier than a cake made from the same mix? Why is that?

Anonymous said...

I prefer muffins but cupcakes will do.
*mumbles about icing*

Smoke said...

GS NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, I would die. I would. Heart attack. Right then and there. I swear to God.

EEEEEEKKKKKKK!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Do any of you eat ice cream in winter?

I can't bring myself to do it.

It's, like, against my law or something. It doesn't feel right.

ergoproxy said...

GS I like frogs sitting on me, they have little cold sticky feet and feel really cool

Anonymous said...

GS, I'm groovy. It's raining buckets here, and I am just relaxing!

Yes, Anon, I agree about muffins. They are quite good.
I don't like corn muffins though, because they give me that scratchy gritty feeling when I eat them.

Did that make sense?

ergoproxy said...

mustard I can eat ice cream any time! I love it, and I can bite into it, some people say their teeth feel funny.
(plus I don't think it's a law anywhere.....*fingers crossed*)

Smoke said...

Mustard,

I only eat ice cream in winter. I can't bring myself to eat it when it's hot outside. I don't know what it is about icy cold weather that makes me want ice cream.

Go figure!

Anonymous said...

How out of place was that question? Very.

RE: Muffins

I like Lemon muffins most.

Anonymous said...

No, Mustard, I can't eat ice cream in the winter either.
The thought makes me shiver.
I can, however, drink hot coffee when it's 120 degrees in the summer.
Nothing stops the goodness of java!

Anonymous said...

I seldom eat ice cream regardless of the season.

Anonymous said...

Well that just goes to show I'm the most abnormal out of the bunch.

I don't particulary care for ice cream, but to eat it in winter makes my bones hurt, figuratively speaking.

gnothi seauton said...

Smoke - as you may gather, I is not a girlie girl ;P

Anon - * laughs * have you had a disturbing experience with icing?

Star - don't know why that is, it's all good to me:)

Anonymous said...

I think my problem is, I don't really care for dairy. I can tolerate yogurt, but you'd have to force-feed me into drinking milk.

The way I see it, it's like thick water.

So, I'm pretty sure that's why I'm not all excited over ice cream.

(Blogger's about to become the pain in my ass. 4th time trying.)

Anonymous said...

I wrote an essay about chocolate chip mint ice cream in creative writing class in high school. We had to describe it using our five senses. I was doing well until I got to the sight part. I wrote that it looked fantastic whether it was in a Waterford crystal dish, or if you were going to lick it off a boy's chest.
Sister Maria was not amused.

Smoke said...

LHM will not eat any cake with icing. My aunt bakes him 6 cupcakes every Sunday and leaves off the icing.

He is a spoiled little boy.

gnothi seauton said...

Ergo - yeah froggies!!

Mustard - lemon ANYTHING is good in my books.

Star - I'm the same with tea :)

P.S I hate chocolate ice-cream.

Anonymous said...

What the beef is a tardis? SOunds like something we call each other at work. ;)

This is really slow going guys, and very frustrating. Also kind of liberating because I'm throwing things away, and I kind of like that. Even though it freaks the hell out of me.

Ooooh, best sensations? Yeah, when someone rubs your head, I love that! Well, not your head, but mine. If, however, someoen thinks it's funny to tickle my neck, like on the sly? I usually shriek and flail.

gnothi seauton said...

Brace yourself:

Letting stick insects walk over my face! It tickles goooooooood :D

O_o Well, okay, I can't judge. One of my best feelings for years was when my iguana would cuddle up to me. Of course if he decided to back up I would have scale burn for weeks, but I miss that so much though. And now, I let my crow chew on my fingertips. He's very gentle unless he gets fixated on my nails. Then he thinks it's funny to suddenly ram his beak underneath one of them. The game is over then.

Anon, have I ever eaten you for dinner? And what the HELL is this about not liking ice cream? Ice cream is god frozen in a box.

Okay, back to the explosion of nostalgia that my bedroom has become.

Also, hey guys. What's playing tonight, like, on yoru CD player or computer? For me it's Bob Marley. It was TBS but I ran through their songs. Then I chose Bob Marley. My house is teeny so I can hear the computer speakers to my bedroom. It's kind of neat and cozy.

Anonymous said...

ergoproxy said...

ok your icing must be different to mine!
I rarely buy icing or eat the stuff on bought cakes, unless it's ganache, I think they make it oily, I make mine with icing suagr milk and butter, flavoured as needed.

mustard that is a problem I have more often than I should

Anonymous said...

Now you see why I chose to spare you from the other details.

ergoproxy said...

oh Star nice choice I love the Cure

ergoproxy said...

oh and should have added that I don't do anything else with said icing, though I imagine it would wash off

Anonymous said...

Yes, I can see, Anon! But, in doing so, you've allowed the mind to wander.

How 'bout we say you were baking a cake, didn't have an icing spatula, and had to use your hands.

That works for me.

Anonymous said...

mustard that is a problem I have more often than I should

What? Mental images?

The next question is of whom? ;)

Anonymous said...

Now, I'm going to tell a cake story.
Bobby Brown was doing a magazine interview at my husband's job at the Hard Rock. He went into the kitchen, picked up a red velvet cake with red frosting, and just walked out with it. He walked into my husband's office and said, "You got a box? This is Whitney's favorite cake right here!"

Anonymous said...

To answer your question, Jules.

It's "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville" right now.

gnothi seauton said...

How 'bout we say you were baking a cake, didn't have an icing spatula, and had to use your hands.

Ahh, but it would still wash off. So now my mind is boggling and it's not a pretty sight.

Anonymous said...

You can say whatever you wish, Mustard. Because in the end, I would simply... nevermind, it's not important.

Anonymous said...

Good ole Bobby Brown, Star!

Did your husband ask him to pay, or did he get him the box?

gnothi seauton said...

Star - the cheeky sod!

Anonymous said...

...nevermind, it's not important.

Oh, okay. Right.

Right! Next subject!

Anonymous said...

Ahh, but it would still wash off.

Damn it! This beckons the question if "icing" has another completely different meaning I'm unaware of.

'Cause if it does, I do not want to know it.

Anonymous said...

Mustard, he did get him a box! He couldn't resist because he said Bobby was so excited about finding/taking the cake. He said he was a really nice guy.

Anonymous said...

Which is?

Anonymous said...

Star, that's so nice of him! It is Bobby Brown, and it is just a cake, right? And I'm sure Whitney enjoyed it!

gnothi seauton said...

Right! Next subject!

Would you ever sell a family heirloom, if you had one that is?

Anonymous said...

Which is?

I don't know. You think of one!

No bakery items can be involved though.

Anonymous said...

"Would you ever sell a family heirloom, if you had one that is?"

May I ask an impertinent question?

If you are hospitalised in America and you don't have medical insurance, do you get treated?

RW - I'm not a huge fan of ice-cream :|

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the explanation of Tardis! I suspect that's what I have. ^_^

So, family heirlooms? I do have one, and I would never sell it. It's a Chinese cabinet with a gorgeous relief carved on the front. It would probably be worth insane amounts if my Grandad hadn't cut off the legs or one piece so it would fit on top of a separate piece, but it looks better that way. Then back in the 60's my aunt tried to clean it with regular wood cleaner and discolored it.

It's probably still worth quite a bit, but I would never, ever get rid of it. It's my favorite piece of furniture, and also it's where I keep my plates, bowls and cups and all of that kitchen nonsense.

Listening to Smokey Mary, Bob Crosby. ^_^

They will stabilize you. I think basically if your life in in danger they will save you, then you're on your own. I'm not sure what the exact terms are for discharging people though, I mean where the line is that they can throw you out.

We suck.

Anonymous said...

Speaking completely out of ignornance, GS, I think they are obligated to treat you, but of course, you will receive a massive bill. I think the burden then falls on you to pay it and how you do that is your responsibility. There's a lot of hoopla revolving around medical care and insurance in America now, so I could be very wrong.

Anonymous said...

I actually work at a hospital, GS. As far as emergency situations, they have to treat you. It's against the law for them to turn you away. If it's routine stuff, they can tell you to come back if you don't have a deposit.

Anonymous said...

It also doesn't matter if you think the situation is emergent or not. If the ER doc determines that you are non-emergent, they can require you to pay a deposit or be seen at a clinic.

Sorry, medical billing is my life.

Sad but true.

No diva tantrums yet this year, Anon 616, unless you count the one thrown by my landlady's cat a couple of days ago.

Mayo,

How are things this evening? Did you have a wildly insane fucked up day? Yes? Maybe? Not really? Mine was insanely fucking busy. And tonight I am left drained and empty.

It's times like these that I really appreciate the corner. I can just go and take my comfy little spot, pull out my notepad, and just be. Tonight, I like the quiet. Sometimes the quiet is too much and it hurts my ears, but tonight it fits in with my mood.

I'm just having one of those days. Feel me?

I hope that wherever you are tonight you have a moment to sit back and enjoy the quiet, the peace, and the beauty of it all.

Love to YOU Always,
S

p.s. Writing it down, tearing it out, balling it up, and throwing it in the trash. I got nothing useful tonight. Wanna play basketball with the paper and the wastebasket? I got nothing useful tonight. Sorry.

Goodnight, Sdock.

You and Smoke have a blast tomorrow.

Let it run through you and consume you. You will feel better.

Ask them to turn it up a bit louder so those in the front are able to hear.

Anonymous said...

Okay, so, wow?

This is kind of weird.

It almost feels like returning to childhood naptime when I was always awake and the others were zonked out on the floor.

Anonymous said...

Looks like I have all the time in the world.

Mayo, I hope you were bestowed a pleasant day. Fridays are always great because you know you've got two days ahead of freedom.

May your night be full of clarity and the stars be twinkling in your skies.

I hope you're well.

SS, fingers crossed that you're still chipper and life's treating you the way it should! Take it easy this weekend.

Carrie said...

Fimbly Fim, I hope you had the best day ever, and your parents don't think you're nutz when you get a package from some crazy damn person. I hate that I didn't get to talk to you today!

*opens eyes and stretches*

I've missed nap time!

I had the most wonderful dream. One of these guys were in it:

Hallo Lovelies!

How is everyone this evening?

Hello Amy!!!

*pounce, tackle, hug, smooch*

I'm good, thanks for asking! I'm happily hopping all over the internet starting wars and such....
Doesn't get much better than that (on a Friday night) ;-)

How are you?

Anonymous said...

Hi Amy, I'm good! Just about to go try out sleeping in my new bed. ^_^

Fim, didn't see you around much today so I hope and trust you were out having a splendid birthday.

AIM friends, goodnight, and I'll chat with you guys soon! But not tomorrow night because it's Oceans of Ho.

To everyone: have a good night/day/whatever it is where you are.

Mayo, as always, sweet dreams to you and a lovely tomorrow. Let's see, what should you dream about tonight? Mayo, dream about orchids tonight. Orchids and ummm, a red kimono. And a pinwheel. That would make kind of a cool dream, huh?

S(S)S, I hope that something fabulous happens to you tomorrow to take your breath away in the best possible way. ^_^

Wow, actually, I hope that for all of you.

Good night! :)

Hiya Wendy!

Just finishing cooking and eating supper. I'm wondering if I can sneak in a few chocolate chip cookies before bedtime now.

How was your day? Where the heck is everyone else?

Amyranth said...

Kapu, new bed sleeps can be absolute heaven. I love my mattress, but it was at it's best the very first night I bought it.

Happy late birthday, Fimble!!!

Anon616 said...

Did someone mention Chocolate chip cookies??? Does a tall glass of ice cold milk come with them?
*licks lips*

I don't know what happened to everybody else Amy.

It's scary, isn't it!

I feel like we are in a life boat, drifting aimlessly....
LOST, somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle.
Ohhh.....and a storm is approaching. I can see it - on the horizon!

I think we're screwed ;-)

Oh well, at least we have cookies and milk!

Hi Magic Pie!!! Where have you been? I hope wherever you've been, you've been happy and well!

It's been very dead around here lately.

Not even the Anons will touch us.

Shame really.

NOT.

Hello Paperheartxx!!!

How are you, love? I finally got all those cactus thorns out ;-)

How are the geetar lessons coming along?

I know. It has been too quiet around here lately.
We need the OPs back. And BC and DG, Pixie and Siobhan, Mya.....everyone else......
:(
it's just not the same without them.

HUSH your mouth, child! ;-)

JocelynHolly said...

Six, I'm glad you got them out.

I ventured out of my place for a little chat. It gets lonely.

It seems it's getting lonelier and lonelier by the day here.

I'm alright, how are you dear?

The lessons are coming along. I'm not going tomorrow, I booked them off.

I was off watching MCR vids on YouTube and remembering why I lurves them so much. And cursing myself for not being willing to go to the general admission concert in Detroit. I just don't think I can handle being trod upon by 14year olds screeching to have Gerard's baby. There's not enough Xanax in the world.

I'm glad you ventured out, Paperheartxx!

I forgot to do that when I first saw you :)

Have you made any interesting paper bag puppets lately?
We could always have another puppet war to pass the time!

I've been needing that lately.

Sadly, no new paper bag puppets. =[

How have you been doing?

Hey Carrie =]

Amyranth said...

Angel? You seem to stop by often.

PH and Wendy, it is getting more and more lonely. There are too many empty bedrooms in Mayo's house, and that's not right.

Even the Masseuse we keep in the basement is starting to complain of boredom, and you know what?

I had to dust the Kool Aid Pitcher the other day!

Carrie! You're not going?
:(
But, you must go!!!
A night out.....
Live (good) music.....
Fun.....
Rock n Roll.....
Earplugs (to muffle screaming teenagers)

No need for Xanax, love! I take my niece to alot of all ages shows at the House Of Blues and most of the teenagers are very well behaved. I become immune to their screaming, I think ;-)

Amy, =]

I hate the feeling of emptiness and loneliness. I miss many people from here.

I don't like coming around too often, especially to an empty room.

Carrie said...

Paper bag puppets sound like fun, PH! C'mon, we can manage the few comments to get to a new page, we can do it!

Amyranth said...

I'd love to go see another MCR concert, but we live in Canada, and it must be too cold up here for them. :(

Anon616 said...

Hi Angel!

KISS?

YES!

:)

Oh no. Amy had to dust the Kool Aid Pitcher?

That is not good. Not good at all!

Where is Martha and Elena? They're usually roaming 'round the halls at this time?

Amyranth said...

Agreed again PH.

Mayo hasn't locked the door on these people, but it doesn't help when somebody is holding it from the inside.

Amyranth said...

No, never mind. You can still post as Anon.

Crap.
