I was playing soccer in my shorts and sandles on a parking lot that had loose gravel and stuff. I was running, tripped over my sandle and fell. I skidded on my knee and it was bloody and bad and awesome.
I was a kid, but don't remember the age exactly.
I have one on my chin too from falling over in teh hallway at school last day of yr 8

So I did promise not to be all dark and gloomy tonight and I shall keep my promise. I’ll tell you about my day. Trust me it’s not all dark and gloomy but it ain’t all rainbows an unicorns either. See I love my bookstore and I usually love working. Note the “usually”. Today was one of those days when I question why I still have a brick and mortar store. I mean I sell on the Internet so why do I bother? Well the easy answer is because I love books. I love the smell, the look, and the feel of a book. And I usually love the interaction with customers. Note the “usually” again. Today was not a usual day. First person in wanted books by “Stef-fin King.” Okay I get the ph in Stephen King’s name confused the woman. I didn’t want to just flat out tell her she was pronouncing the name wrong so I smiled and pronounced his name correctly while taking her to the Horror section. I said “Oh here is Stephen King.” (Pronouncing it correctly). She looked at me and said, “You’re sayin’ his name wrong.” Okay, what do you do in a case like this? I just smiled and let her think she was right. A total “whatever” moment. The next person through the door wanted to purchase a vintage Doc Savage paperback. Okay it was $8.00. He was horrified. He pointed out it was only 35 cents to begin with and he thought we were a used bookstore so why was it so high? Okay about this time my eyes tried to roll. I explained that it was a collector’s item. Nope, that didn’t make sense to him. He just couldn’t see paying $8.00 for a book that only cost 35 cents new. I tried to be nice, I really did but damn, he was starting to get rude. He offered me $3.00 for it like he was really doing me a favor. Let me just say that I know what my books are worth and I price them below their value when I put them in the store. When I wouldn’t accept his offer he said he’d just find the book somewhere else. I didn’t lose it until he said, “It only cost 35 cents new” one too many times. I suggested he get in his time machine and go back to the year the book was published and buy it new. Yeah, I really said it. The words just popped out of my mouth. The rest of the day didn’t go any better.
To be honest I love my store and have a lot of great “regulars”. Today was just an off day. But I did want to share it with you. I’m sure you’ve had days like this. One annoying person after another just pushing until you lose it. Honest to God one woman didn’t want to pay sales tax. Really I was like WTF? Hello? Retail establishment here. My eyes rolled a lot.
Mayo I hope you didn’t have this kind of day. I hope your day was filled with people that didn’t push your buttons. And I really hope you didn’t run into anyone who couldn’t pronounce Stephen King’s name correctly.

People are always trying to buy my movie posters, antique prints, stuffed animals ect. Nope, that stuff isn’t for sale. That stuff makes the store truly my own.

I don't think that KBert is Mayo's absolute favorite, she just knows how to get attention. That is NOT to say he doesn't like her. Also it's not to say that I don't like her. She just has a way of saying things that gets noticed. But even if she was his "favorite" so what? Shouldn't you just let them be friends? Why so jealous? Would you be jealous if it was someone else? If it is a friendship that comes out of it, why would you stand in the way of it? Just let it progress if that's the case.
Somtimes I think Mayo likes her and sometimes I think he tolerates her. but either way, I wouldn't blame him for liking her. She's not just a good poet, she's obviously brilliant. On top of that she's pretty, smart and talented. This isn't grade school where everyone has to come in first place, you are all adults. I feel I can safely say that she is far and away the best writer here, she might actually have a real future in writing if she wasn't wasting her time on a blog writing to an anonymous owner who is pretending to be Gerard Way who she says she doesn't even like anymore.
K, I read the anti valentines and I watched the movie you made for Mayo. What a waste. I mean that you gave it to him. It's halfway decent for an amateur job although you could have gotten a lot more out of it with more practice and a better program, it's obviously very creative. (He never even acknowledged it did he)? The lighting was all wrong and some of the acting was iffy (and that guy with the mullet needs to go) but you put your heart into it and you yourself did a great job. I couldn't read the writing on your arm. I was just glad it wasn't written in a sharpie. ;-D
No one seems to just like Kapu. They are either devoted friends or they get annoyed by her and really dislike her. Remind you of anyone?

has some so we go to visit often.
I'm glad that your friend did get a diagnosis, sometines its hard for the docs to figure out what the issue is and its difficult to get help from schools, etc without one. I do recommend behavior modification therapy with
positive reinforcement - only - to teach life skills like toilet training, etc for children with little to no language skills. Ususally, even if they can't speak, they do understand what is being told them however. Also, a friend was telling me that computers are great for teaching language and other skills and that the kids benefit from having a hand placed on the arm or shoulder with this
technique - it helps them focus and remain calm when they would feel frustration. I haven't checked the research on that though and individual kids respond differently to these kinds of techniques anyway. I send your friend and her son my best wishes :)

Hi everyone, how are you?
Hi Fimmy my fave Manc bird. I hope you are having the best birthday sweetie.
I'm not on for long tonight. Tomorrow, me and sis are accompanying a coach load of chinese college kids to the Leeds Armouries. Should be good. Gotta be up early though and these time zones means I'm gonna miss most of you tonight, bummer.
But hello to all the lovely people who are here at the mo.
I'd like to share something with you if I may.
As you all know, I lost my dad(it will be 6 years ago on July 18th this year) when he was only 55.
I was mortified and have suffered badly with depression ever since.
Well, my mate has a son called Sid (yes, named after sid vicious, yes she is a punk) and he was 12 when dad died.
He had never known his dad and for some reason developed a really strong bond to my dad. Even though he didn't know him for very long, he just really looked up to him.
He remembers the times when he was late for school and Ruth would ring up and my dad would drive him there. Little things like that which I have forgotten all about but which meant a lot to him.
When we scattered his ashes at the seaside, Sid made a lovely speech about him being a "top bloke", he really made us laugh.
Sid himself is a top kid as he is making something of his life with his college work. He has suffered badly all his childhood through ADD and he isn't quite "normal" in his behaviour, but he is lovely.
We have found out today that Sid is doing a project at college about people they respect. Sid has chosen to do his about my dad. He has taken pictures of his gravestone already.
I can't believe that after 6 years, Sid still feels so strongly about my dad. He was so young when he died. It makes me so proud to know that my family member touched the life of someone else so deeply if only briefly.
I am so proud of my dad right now. Sid has made me feel so happy. I just wanted to share this with you.

I live, work and play in London. Have been here for 15 years after I graduated. Love London but its great to have some countryside and fresh air to go to. Speaking of drunken-I'm getting ready to celebrate St Patrick's Day Saturday-Monday next week. Will certainly need a dark room and fruit juice for days afterwards.

The Catholic Church has actually "moved" St Patrick's Day this year to Saturday 15th as 17th is Monday and is the beginning of Holy Week and a saint cannot take precedence during that week. The last time it was "moved" was sometime in the 1940s.
This suits me fine but will still take Monday off work for the hair of the dog!
Today I was talking to a man whose parents are Irish and we were saying that we don't know any young Irish men called Patrick. This is probably as a result of negative stereotyping but we did conclude that there will probably be a resurgence in 10 to 20 years time.

well my boy is called patrick although he is english. and he is only called patrick because my dad was called patrick although he was english. and my dad was only called patrick because the doctor that delivered him was called patrick and he was irish but working in england so there you go!!

Hey everybody, I'm home, yay! Today was both mellow and yet creepy. Both of the bosses were away on vacation and the hospital was dead. ONE hospital case in board, unbelievable. Normally we would all just clean up, find things to do, be productive. But today we all sat in the lab and gave non-creepy backrubs. The creepy aspect is that guy, Asscrack (I've mentioned him before,) hitting all new levels of creepiness and inappropriateness. Eww. DNW.
This is the stuff I can't write about in my LJ because my boss actually reads it. We're friends, you know, outside of work.
Anyway, my new bed is all set up and it is the cutest thing and the mattress is so comfy. Right now I have to get to reassembling my bedroom.
