A little rough around the edges…

I have not yet entered into a static free zone. Buzz, buzz, buzz…my head is ready to fucking split. I asked him if it still mattered at all.

I am waiting for his reply.

I have been half way around my brain with this shit, and it just keeps coming up the same. And I am repeating myself, here in the dark, not quite alone.

In time.

p.s. patience please, my lovelies...I am listening.

Mayo,

I am so, so, so angry at you.

If you ever see this comment amidst the love and fun exchanged here, I know you'll know why.

Everyone else, greetings and salutations. I should be asleep right now. I switched to a night shift but for whatever reason I'm wired and the nicotine withdrawal really, really doesn't help. But I'm not gonna do it! I think.... Book reading time. I love all of you. I hope you have been good to each other while I've been away.

At the end of that interview, what did Frank say that Joe Hill said about MCR? I remember that name-check in the story, too; it was pretty cool. But I can't make out what Frank is saying about it.

That's a really sweet interview. There should be more of the other guys talking, and less of Gerard's BS.

Sry, but I really don't get that. Common sense dictates that if it is cold enough to freeze water, then maybe you should:

a) Dress for the weather.
b) Not wait around outdoors for HOURS for a band that doesn't even know you're out there.

Sounds callous and cruel, but I think that you've gotta take certain things into consideration when it comes to concerts.

Hi Amyranth! Hi Kapunua!

I saw a Marilyn Manson interview today on MTV Germany and they asked him about the alleged Marilyn vs. Gerard(MCR) beef and MM's song 'Mutilation Is The Most Sincere Form Of Flattery' being about Gerard and the band.
MM said that it was not about them in particular, but about bands who use his ideas and water them up to make them more accessible for the mainstream audience.
Then they showed excerpts of MM's video for the song 'Coma White' and MCR's 'Welcome To The Black Parade' and I can tell you you can call MCR's video almost a remake of MM's video.
And that's not the only thing they have copied from that guy.
I think MM has all the right to be pissed off!

Hey, eat whatever you like, just don't try to justify it by saying that the animal deserves it.

As far as the mallard goes, it sounds like someone hand-raised it and then let it go. That happens a lot. People get them around Easter and then when they grow up and get messy, it's out the door. Marylin Manson bores the Christ out of me. And anyway, if MCR copied anyone's videos, it was Nirvana's. Take a look at Teen Spirit beside Teenagers, and at WTTBP beside Heart Shaped Box.

It was a radio interview and it was posted back on the MCR LJ a few months ago. Dude was just being an ass. He seemed a little mad. Frank actually confronted him and was like, "Hey, problem?" And MM got all, "Uhhh, nope." But then he took that parting shot in an interview. Total lack of class. But whatever, bands do that kind of thing.

Fois gras is the popular thing to be deemed "cruel" when in fact, most of the meat industry passed "cruel" years ago and tipped over into "psychotic." most of my friends are vet techs and part of that training involved going into a typical slaughterhouse. Most of them came through as vegetarians and still have nightmares about it.

Like I said, eat what you want. But when people try to justify it with things like, "But at least it's not as bad as so and so" it gets silly. Slaughterhouses are cruel; there's no way around it. You just have to make the choice to still eat meat and live with it. Which is fine. But there's no denying it.

Dave Grohl and Sam Bayer were talking about the video. The janitor that it's in there was the actual janitor at Sam's apartment.

Dave didn't understand why Sam just told the janitor to rock out to the music, because he said the dude was old and he probably didn't like the music anyway (it was funnier watching him tell this story).

If you notice on Dave's kickdrum, the name "Chaca" is on there. He said that that was their tribute to this grafitti artist in, I think it was either Seattle or Aberdeen, I can't remember which. He said he'd go around tagging everything he saw with his name.

The police finally caught up with Chaca, arrested him, and hauled him to jail. Dave was telling this story by the way. He said that Chaca even tagged the inside of the elevator as they were taking him in for booking and prints, so Dave thought that was pretty kickass and decided to pay tribute to that punk aesthetic.

Sam, throughout the piece, constantly said that Kurt didn't want to be there. Obviously. The kids you see in there moshing around and jumping all crazy-like, Sam said they didn't even have to ask for that to be done. That Kurt was just irritated by the end of having to shoot as were the kids for having to wait around.

Dave said that Sam would have to be the bad guy and use his megaphone. Dave said he'd say, "Shut. The. Fuck. UP!" Again, funnier if watching. So, by the end, Kurt had asked Sam if they could destroy the set (ala FLW) and Sam agreed. Dave said that that was the most fun Kurt had had all day, just tearing the shit out of everything.

Anyway...I thought it was a super cool thing. And at least the "Teen Spirit" kids didn't have to be choreographed. ;)

I hate thinking about VV's first post.

It was very scary to me because two to three weeks prior to that, I was super worried about the demise of this band, especially Gerard for all of the shit at PR.

I saw Kurt Cobain written all over him. Then I started seeing things about Nirvana out of nowhere, and shit about Kurt's death, and I was all torn up about it pretty much. I just new that we were going to lose another "tragic soul."

Then VV posted what she did. And it just put the icing on the cake.

Siobhan: That may be, but MM didn't say that to Frank's face. When confronted he got all, "uhh...." and then later on the radio took a pathetic parting shot at Frank. That made me lose more respect for him.

Some Anon over at DM said that Gerard could be the next David Lee Roth. I sadly do see the comparison, you know, with the machismo and Big Man talk. OTOH I'd rather see him as the new DLR rather than the new Kurt Cobain, even though I really believe that Kurt was the better person.

I can relate almost every band I hear not with a band I've heard before, for one reason or another. Not in the "rip off" sense, but more in that patterns repeat. Like I see a little bit of Soundgarden in Taking Back Sunday. I hear a little Soul Asylum in The used. That kind of thing.

I see a little Dave Grohl in Frank Iero, if only because I think they are both really sincere dudes who are in music just for the passion of it, and that they will both always be in music and just for that reason. You know? Ray, too.

I admit, the comparisons have gone through my head about Gerard. I hope he has even an inkling about the people who care about him, not just family and friends, but people who's lives he has touched and never knew it.

You guys in the chat last night remember me talking about the icon I couldn't find? The rest of you should look at it, too!

Found it:

Scroll down to the second "FRED LERO" post.

It's of Frank with an excited face.

I'm still laughing about Mikey talking about Spiders and Tab. Damn that set the mood for the day.

Talk more often Mikey Way.

It makes me smile

Crap. You can't click on it - I don't understand this html stuff!

Anyway, have a splendid night people and I hope Trisky's OK, Kapunua - I cried buckets when my hamster got ill.

Love,

Kass xx

I'm not sure when it will be coming out on DVD, but you are right it is only playing at select theaters. It came through my town for only a week.

There was also a Joy Division movie that came through, but I missed it. I'm waiting for it to be out on Netflix.

Anonymous said...

Yes Kapunua! MM should have had the balls to tell it to Frank's face instead of mocking him behind his back. Don't know why he did that. But still, I prefer artists who speak their mind and don't kiss other people's asses most of the time like Gerard does.
You can't like everybody. It just seems so insincere.

Anonymous said...

I'm gonna have to see it Anima.
I totally get you. I started crying yesterday while watching some old interviews of them, he, Dave, and Kris. Kurt was talking then it shot to a picture of him hold his little baby girl, and I pretty much lost it. I'm so ashamed for not being aware of the "Nirvana Movement." I would have been a little young to have fully embraced it.

Thank you for posting the trailer.

I'm off to watch it now.

Be right back.

About a Son Trailer

That's so upsetting. I wonder if Gerard will watch it. In some ways I think he should, but in others I think he shouldn't because I suspect he tries, a lot of the time, for this kind of attention and worry. This kind of comparison. How bad does it have to get?

Kass, thank you for the well-wishes. I hate waiting!

I'll keep most of my thoughts on COurtney Love to myself except to say this: cockroaches are still here, too.

Mikey totally won in that interview, Elena.

I was in hysterics listening to Frank talk about the "full colored plasma screen" spider.

Mikey is so funny when he's allowed to be ;)

That icon is histerical.

Mustard, dude, I remember where I was when I heard about Kurt. I remember what I was saying, who I was saying it to, what was on TV, the entire day.

But I also remember what was going on when I heard about John Lennon, too, and I was just wee when that happened. (I was 7 or 8.) Even back then, John Lennon was my favorite songwriter and I remember just where I was when I heard about it.

On the other hand, my memory is really, really, like crazily long and detailed. O_O So that's just me.

Anonymous said...

Kapunua:

Have you seen the documentary "The U.S. vs. John Lennon"?

anima said...

I think the guys should all see it. Maybe it would put some things in perspective. I dunno.

I heard on the radio that some other stuff was released regarding Kurt and it really upset Dave. Dave said it just opened a lot of old wounds and old memories that he tucked away. And that he misses Kurt a lot and wished it had been different. (not his exact words, but something like that.)

Isn't that really sad?

Anonymous said...

Mustard, I can't even read any of the comments there. I can't help but feel sorry for Eliza for the way she got treated after all of this and continues to get treated. And the way everyone's got their head up Lyn Z's ass is ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

I haven't, Mustard, but I do know a bit about that whole theory. O_O

Original Punk J said...

Understandable Kapunua, I know Courtney is not a well-liked person.

She's made lots of bad choices, but I think she's had a rough life too.

Love ya,
L.

Anonymous said...

I heard that as well, Anima.

He and Kurt were so super close. I see a lot of that in Frank and Gerard.

Keep in mind that Dave also doesn't believe that Kurt committed suicide. I'm just sayin'...

I think Dave wanted that part gone from his mind. I think these interviews they're doing with him, and all of the stuff surrounding these documentaries has just made him relive that April day.

I wouldn't want to have to do that either.

elena said...

How do we "free" Mikey so he'll talk more?
He and Frank together are so funny. Damn I love those guys.
I loved Mikey talking about telling a story "before I forget"

anima said...

Here is the Joy Division trailer if anyone is interested. It's mostly about Ian, but still it looks really interesting. It's based on a book his wife wrote.

Hi everybody how are you? I have the interview with Frank and Mikey he is so funny and they were having a good time I didn't want it to end.

MM is a dickhead he is full of himself. Not just because of the Mcr stuff but the asshole was trying to get publicity off the Vtech shooting. No one brought up his name in connection to that thing but in an interview he went on about how it was going to be blamed on him.
I used to like MM music but he is just to full of himself now. I don't know where he gets off saying Mcr stolen video idea from him. Have you seen most of the videos these days they are all the same thing over and over again. Especial Hip hop and rap.

Elena:

We seperate Mikey from Gerard, force Mikey to say something funny, and tell Gerard to keep his trap shut.

anima said...

Keep in mind that Dave also doesn't believe that Kurt committed suicide. I did not know that.

What is strange about the interviews is that it doesn't seem like Kurt was really all that upset about his life. He hated being 'big' and how it effected his personal life (tabloids, etc), but other than that, he seemed to really understand where he came from. Plus when he talks about his father not being there and how he would never do that to Frances, it makes me wonder.

We will never know for sure.

Leaving for now, guys.

I didn't know that. Where has Dave made reference to that? I'd love to read it.

For the record, I don't actually believe he killed himself either. But I also don't think Courntey Love did it. And I also DO think that Kurt would have done it eventually. I just think that in this case, he didn't.

Hey. Has anyone seen that video on youtube where it's just Frank laughing at all different times? Frank laughing = me feeling better.

Anonymous said...

Bye L!!! Have a good day :)

Anima:

If I can find the article where he said that, I'll post it. It's been a few months back, before all of this stuff with the band started. I'll have to hunt for it.

But, he did say that he doesn't believe he committed suicide. Kapunua can tell you more about it, because I believe she's done some research like I have. We already kinda had this discussion before. The amount of drugs that he had in his body would have prevented it.

Dave never came out and said who he thought did it, but obviously all fingers point to Courtney.

But, you're right. We're never going to know. And that pisses me off, because I still feel like Kurt's in limbo and will never be at peace.

Favorite youtube clips:

The Wii Is Gone. Anyone who went on a Wii hunt last year will get every. Single Reference. ANd it's brilliant. I love his Mom in this one. "What the hell's Tar-zhay, well do they have one?" This one has me in tears, it's so funny. This kid deserves fame.

Monty Python's tinny and woody words.

Zelda: I wonder what's for dinner? An old cartoon remix. You know the sort. "I'll grab my stuff!" "there is no time. Your face is enough!" "I'm so hungry, I could eat Ganon for dinner."

Frank being a hero, talking about vegetarianism and animal rights, animal testing etc. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH OF FRANK IN THE WORLD.

Cloud's dream. A hilarious remix of the Advent Children movie. This is still one of my favorites. Yes, that is Monty Python music in the beginning, Benny Hill music towards the middle. The part with all the screaminig annoys me, but the rest is good. "Smother me in gravy, you big dirty man." The Bohemian Rhapsody part is very well done.

Cal State band's brilliant half-time video game tribute. I actually get chills, because I'm the biggest, stupidest geek like that. When they yell "MORTAL KOMBAT" and at the Zelda part. I know I linked this here before, but it bears linking again for its brilliance.

Adam and Fred's 12 Days of Christmas. Again, I know I linked this before, but it's so seasonally appropriate, and goddamn, just hilarious.

Anyone else got some goodies?

Anonymous said...

Mustard, I was also gonna link to the one with Gerard laughing, because it's an awesome laugh. "KyahaHAAA!"

But you never hear it anymore, and when you do, it's hollow.

Yes Kapuna, Stephen Kind justs wins. No question.

I heard they're going to make Cell into a movie, but it might just be a rumor spawned by Wikipedia.

Dunno yet, MJ. I have to call in an hour, though they may not even have done anything yet. I'll let you know. ^_^

Stephen King wins, but most movies based on his books are EPIC FAIL. Most, not all.

I'm OBSESSED with Joy Division.

I need to buy it on DVD when it comes out, 'cause it got limited release but only about 4 hours away from here.

SS? I'm not sure if I'm glad you're no longer confused or not. Well if you've found your answer, I hope it's one that makes you happy. ^_^

I don't know, it just made me think.

Lolita, it looks really interesting doesn't it. But from what I know about Ian, his story is pretty tragic. I'm a JD fan too, but I was more of a New Order fan back in the day.

K - thank you for all those links. I enjoyed them all.

Mustard, thank you too. The guys' laughs make me smile. Gerard's is just as endearing as Frank's.

I have posted this on my bolg but I wanted to share it here too so that you realise if I don't sound too happy and chipper today.

My cousin Dominic

Well, today is the three year anniversary of the death of my cousin Dominic. I still miss him so much. He was only 25 years old and he made me laugh more than anyone else on earth.

His death will always be a mystery, we don't have any answers. It was awful getting that phone call in the early hours from my Auntie Anne. We drove to her house and all huddled together as we waited for news. The police were fucking shit, every time we heard from them it was a different story.

Dominic was from Sheffield like me but he was living with his girlfriend in Stoke. He didn't like it there and came back to Sheffield often. He had not long been doing the job of a postman and he was really enjoying it. Even so, he and his girlfriend were planning to come back to Sheffield.

We were due to see Dominic again at Christmas time but the Sunday before his death, we decided to go to a car boot sale. We had never been to this one before and we couldn't believe it when we bumped into Dominic there. It was a lovely surprise. I didn't then of course that it would be the last time I would see him alive. His younger brother to this day still goes to that car boot sale every Sunday (I don't think he had ever been to one in his life before this happened) as it is a link to his brother.

From what we learned of the events that night, this is what occurred. My cousin was on his works Christmas do. He had been drinking but they had been out all day so it was spread out and he wasn't drunk. There were no drugs in his system, Dominic wasn't like that. None of our family partake of those kinds of things, we are a nice bunch. If you met us I'm sure you'd agree. He had been looking after one of the girls in the party who was a little the worse for wear. He took her outside for fresh air and the others joined them . Everyone said that Dominic was not pissed or out of his head and he totally had his wits about him, so it is a mystery as to why what happened next happened.

They all got into a taxi to go home and suddenly my cousin said "I have to go somewhere" and got out of the car and ran off. He was later spotted on CCTV on a roundabout. After that we don't know how he ended up where he did as there were no more cameras on that stretch. My cousin was hit and killed trying to cross a motorway and no one has the faintest idea what he was doing there.

We know he wasn't pissed or drugged, we know he wasn't trying to kill himself but we don't and will never know what he was doing there. He was killed instantly, which was better for him as he didn't suffer. The lady who hit him wasn't drunk and there was nothing they could do to prevent the accident. No one was to blame, which I'm glad cos otherwise I would have hunted that person down and killed them with my bare hands, no joke.

It was awful viewing his battered and broke body at the funeral home. His ankles were all broken and his feet hung over the end of the bed. It was heartbreaking. He had broken almost every bone in his body.

His funeral was lovely, it was held in a church which is a couple of roads away from my house and just around the corner from the school me, my sis and my cousins attended. I am anti religion and I was thinking that if the vicar got all religious I was gonna leap up and smack him, I was so angry about Dom's death. Instead he said "what can I tell you, when I hear of a tragedy like this I question if there is a god and I don't know the answer". From then on it was all talk about Dom and his life. We had a huge projection screen up and showed many photo's of him and the only religious aspect was the couple of hymns that were sung. I think the vicar did a wonderful job, it just felt so right.

On the way to the graveyard I noticed that at one point, a postman stopped as he saw the cars go past and he took his has off and bowed down. As Dom had been a postman I thought how strange but touching that was. I remembered how my Dad was mad about buses and on the day of his funeral as the cars were going up the street, we reached the school me and my sis went to and a bus was coming down the road. The driver stopped and bowed his head. These things are weird but comforting.

Well, I'm thinking of Dom today and I just wanted you to know about my beautiful wonderful cousin Dominic.

Anonymous said...

MissT, that is such a sad story. Open-ended deaths like that leave you feeling so hollow. i think as humans we always need answers and sometimes that's the only thing that can help us with our grief. It's natural to wonder why. Being denied the answer is so painful.

I'm sorry this happened to your cousin and your family. It's always so much harder around the holidays when everyone is telling you to be merry.

Well remember, we're here if you want to talk some more, huh?

anima said...

MissT, I was just visiting your blog. I left you another message.
