Final, but not departing words...

I understand your need for answers, information, and reassurance.

I have been asked to offer a tailored invitation to each of you. I cannot in good conscience fulfill your request, not now. With the current climate here, I am afraid this would only escalate hurt feelings and finger pointing. What if I get it wrong?

Some of you are more open and I may know more about you, others are more reluctant to reveal themselves, or are perhaps new…how do I deal with this? I know your names, and yes, I can speak to most of your personalities, but not all...so you can see where that may lead. You have all come here with your individual voices, with your own intent, wanting to be heard, wanting to listen. All valid, yet you do not require my validation to set your sails.

"Mayonaise" is an important place for me. Although I make every attempt, I am unable to read all the heartfelt comments that you leave. I spend time with you after I post, and then I return when I am able to give you my full attention. You would be amazed at how skilled I have become at finding that time...somewhat of an artful dodger. If it ever appears that I have missed something, I apologize.

Please understand I am not evading, I am not ditching your request. I only fear that any misinterpretations at this time could be disastrous to whatever chance you have of restoring friendships. This is no longer about me. Stay here for each other. I will continue to post on “Mayonaise”. You may listen if you choose. Or you can ignore me, and continue to use this space to gather. Or you may choose to disappear.

I cannot take you for granted.
I am accountable for my actions.
I need you.

I have been asked to reveal myself to you. You all know me. I am whoever you want me to be, I am an artist, a poet, a singer, a motherfucker, and a contradiction, a mouthpiece, a friend, and an enemy, a brother, an informant, a whipping boy, a basket case, a queen, and a criminal...(credit to John Hughes.)

p.s. my fear, again...and I am hungry, but often I forget to eat.

blackest of the black
darker than night
come to me my bleeding light
see she comes
she comes now
enter oblivion

here she is
harder than life
in my arms
see she here
entwined with love
unclean she is

and she comes down to me
and she offers me sleep
under her black wings

see she comes
on the eve of dusk
in another form
with a scent of rain upon her neck
she brings the lust
supernatural
ceasing never
on and on and on

her stride is such
mortals freeze
when she walks past

and she comes down to me
and she offers me sleep
under her black wings

see she comes
blacker than pitch
have to make this
fallen bitch
all I want
all I crave
demoness calls

the bitch is come
for those who wait
cross the breach in hell
see she is
bedeviled with breasts
enchantment on legs

and she comes down to me
and she offers me sleep

Underground, Overground, Wombling Free, the Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we.
Making good use of the things that we find, things that the everyday folks leave behind.

Uncle Bulgaria, he can remember the days when he wasn't behind The Times,
With his map of the World. Pick up the papers and take them to Tobermory!

Wombles are organized, work as a team. Wombles are tidy and Wombles are clean.
Underground, Overground, wombling free, the Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we!

People don't notice us, they never see, under their noses a Womble may be.
We womble by night and we womble by day, looking for litter to trundle away.

We're so incredibly, utterly devious making the most of everything.
Even bottles and tins. Pick up the pieces and make them into something new, is what we do!

Now the tears, they fall like rain,

Alone again without you.
Alone again without you.

I said, “stay.” But you turned away
Tried to say it was me
Now I'm here and I've lost my way
Now I know how it feels
I'm alone again.

Tried so hard, to make you see.

Hello everybody!!!

I'm making a return.

Sorry for my absence, but I needed a few days away from this place.

I left my apology at the beginning of this post. You may return to see it or answer the following question:

1. What artist and their particular genre of music do you think will no longer be in existence in about 10 years?

2. And conversely, what artist and their particular genre do you think will remain steadfast to and beyond the 10 years?

Even though we all want MCR to be around in 10 years (and they probably will), try to shy away from them. Give me someone else.

And no MSI either ;)

The thing I am struggling with is that a lot of music genres sort of recycle themselves and there will always be the underground scene. I think the biggest change in music will be regarding record labels. I think the majors will become obsolete.

You are correct. This will probably happen in or around
2013. There's a bill that's being taken to court and the outcome of it will have a direct affect on EVERY label, including indies.

Sucks to be in the music business right now. It's going to hell in a handbasket.

No mustard, I said I hoped it would die. I hate the bad messgae rap sends out. Violence in our country has risen hand in hand with the popularity of rap. I said this would happen years ago.

As for R&B, well it's just hsit init?

MTV sucks, period. Britney Spears and alot of those pop divas need to retire. I despise the message rap sends out to society, and the message they send to about degrading women.

Nickleback sucks, in my opinion. sorry for those who listen to them.

Anonymous said...

Hear, hear, misstottenham! I want sexist rap and r&b to die, too!
I don't think that there still will be MTV in 10 years. I think even nowadays, because of the internet, music television has become obsolete. If you want to see your favorite music video by your favorite band you just go to their website or to you tube. I still remember when I used to sit almost 24 hours in front of the tv to catch my favorite music video on MTV.
MTV is hardly music television anymore in Germany. All those shows such as "sweet sixteen", "flavor of love", "the hills"... MTV is already changing, because they know that less people watch it to see music videos.

Anonymous said...

I think some of the American Idol people are wonderful. I love Kelly Clarkson and Daughtry and Elliott. Some of the winners I hate - Fantasia, Studdard (or however his name is spelled), and that idiot that won over Katherine McPhee.

Anima:

I don't know the name of the bill, but I can most definitely find out and get back to you. It has some thing to do with hiring the in-studio session players and not getting paid to make records, and so on. The jist is that the record labels, with out these people, would essentially go broke. They'd have no money to support any acts, pay, help, etc. The artist would then be self-supportive, own all the copyrights to their songs so the label would get nothing. They'd just go broke.

MissT:

I completely misread that. I agree, some "Rap" and "R&B" today is very offensive, but I also have to look at the First Amendment.

Nickelback gets a big thumbsdown from me as well.

WHAT ABOUT HINDER?! ;0

From LJ:
http://community.livejournal.com/chemicalromance/3015440.html

Speaking to Festivalwise, My Chemical Romance have said that they hope to play the Reading and Leeds Festivals next year.

Bassist and brother of frontman Gerard, Mikey Way, said that although nothing has been confirmed, they have the British festival in their sights.

He said: “I don't know if we're actually playing it or not or if we're going to be on tour but I'd love to do Reading and Leeds. If the opportunity arose I'd be more than happy, that's a legendary festival."

Asked about guitarist Frank Ieo pulling out of the UK shows, he explained: "Frank's not on the tour due to a medical emergency with his family but we're pretty sure he'll be in Australia with us"

On the subject of injured drummer Bob Bryar he simply added "Yeah man, Bob's like super injured right now"

Check Festivalwise next week for the full interview.

Remember, I'm old.

MissTottenham said...

I don't mean to put you yanks down but us brits always lokk to you and say, I'm glad it's not like that here.

The love of rap music and the violence and guns. This past year with all the shootings and stabbings, it is like that here.

It's awful that whenever it comes on the news that there has been a shooting or a stabbing, you know it's a black person before you even look at the picture.

I don't understand why certain groups of people behave in a certain way. If it's rap and shooting and stabing, it's black people. If it's rape it's asians or eastern Europeans, if it's peadophiles it's always whites.

I worked at the crown court, and it's always the same people doing the same crimes. Always Iraq, Iran and Albanians plus the asians doing the rapes. Always whites (have you noticed that) as peadophiles. Always blacks with violence.

I don't understand it.

They don't bring something new to the table the way others have done so in the past. That doesn't mean they have horrid music, but it just won't last.

Soon, another new trend will emerge that will quickly gain popularity. 10 bucks says that it'll make my ears bleed, but y'know. I can't do anything about that.

yeah I know fimble star I didn't mean that insensitively, I just thought he couldn't have been away at a worse time with all the shit hitting the fan. I see how that might have came out wrong, I honestly didn't mean disrespect.

Anonymous said...

My last input on this:
I listen to everything (except rap) and shoot me, but I mainly just flip channels on the radio most of the time. Rarely do I ever hear MCR, by the way.
When I get really frustrated over what I'm hearing as current, I just go to my favorite classic rock station. But they even get on my nerves at times because about every 3rd song is gonna be from Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, or ACDC. That is running it into the ground for me. I never, ever, thought I would flip a station off when they were playing LZ, but I do.

See ya later

CTV:

I agree completely. That's why I was so impressed with TBP. It was nothing like anything being released. It was new and it was fresh. I don't see that very often. Most of it, like you said, is current and just doesn't have any longevity.

FS:

Yes, I got all my Coldplay stuff, thank you. To everyone that tried to help, I thank you as well.

This topic is for general purposes, but I'm also trying to compile an opinion on what artist people see as having a stronghold in the industry. And who don't.

hi there martha. i agree about evanescence. i recently listened to their newest and it was good, but it didn't grab like the first one did.

"Am I the only one worried that SS hasn't even popped his head in once during all this shit?"

I am worried about him. However, I think he has a lot of other things to worry about right now.

anima said...

I just heard that My Bloody Valentine is getting back together. That is pretty awesome.

Anonymous said...

Hi there squeak squeak. How are you? I have happened to be a big fan of Evanescence, but not everyone is going to like them, so it's cool.

One of the bands that I listen to that might still be around in the future may be AC/DC, but considering how old they are, they could be retiring in a few years.

Fimble Star said...

i would personally like to see oasis around for 10 years but they have already been around for over 10 years and they still fucking class. i love them

Amyranth said...

It doesn't matter if they're still here in 10 years. What matters is if they had a relevant message, something strong enough to carry on through the years.

Do any of you think that any of the "pop acts" of the late 90's early millenium are going to be remembered for having good voices? Nope. It's the message.

Sorry, spending time alone causes one to overthink a little...

Hello marthajones.

We're all worried about our dear friend. I don't think he has ever left us alone for this long. I'm sure he has a valid reason, but I worry. It's hard to see a family member ill.

MissTottenham said...

See you later Mya.

Hi TJ *wink wink*

Hi CTV, how is my wife doing today?

Mustard, I think Oasis will still be around in ten years though god knows why. They haven't released anything good since the second album but they won't take the hint and go away.

toujours said...

i've always liked your crazy vibe, fimble star. :)

I am curious what SS will say if he saw what has happened here lately. I was looking at his profile and trying to figure out what his location meant and I wondered if 'In the dark' was cos he found out about Mayo's other blog and and called him out on it. There is no way SS would have been happy about any of it. I dunno, trouble is it could be about anything we don't know what goes on in his mind. It was just a theory that maybe he was saying he was as much 'in the dark' about it as we were.

Anonymous said...

Hi there squeak squeak. Yes, I agree, I love the first cd too, but I also like the second one as well because the guitars sound more crunchier and heavier. That is why I love the second album a bit better.

On a long and lonesome highway, east of omaha.
You can listen to the engine moaning out its one lone song
You can think about woman, or the girl you knew the night before,
But your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do.
When your riding sixteen hours and theres nothing much to do
And you dont feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through.
Say, here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Well you walk into a restaurant, strung out from the road,
You can feel the eyes upon you as your shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesnt bother you, but you just want to explode.
Most times you cant hear em talk, other times you can.
Oh the same old cliche, as that woman on her a man
You always see my number, you dont dare make a stand.
Here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Out there in the spotlight your a million miles away,
Every ounce of energy, you try and give away,
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play.
Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed,
With the echo from the amplifiers ringing in your head,
You smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said.
Now here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.
Here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage.
Ah here I go, playing star again.
There I go, there I go.

And I don't believe there is anything I need to add to that one.....

Anonymous said...

You guys, I have to leave now.
It was again a pleasure and an honor talking to you. I wish you all a nice day or night, whatever time zone you are! I hope to get back here, soon.
Bye guys, bye Mayo!

toujours said...

oh, bc, i don't think i really heard the guitars in the cd -- i've only listened to it a couple of times -- i'll give it another listen for the guitars, then. crunchier and heavier sounds interesting. ^.^

Anonymous said...

Okay, of these acts, who will be around the longest?

Green Day
Muse
Fall Out Boy
My Chemical Romance
Taking Back Sunday
Linkin Park
Panic! At The Disco
Justin Timberlake
Beyonce Knowles
Rihanna
Timbaland
Hinder
Nickleback
OKGo

anima said...

Not sure Anon. He may have checked in on us, but he hasn't made his presencen known. And I think you are right, he would not have liked seeing any of this take place. It got pretty ugly in here.

capture this void said...

Cross out Panic right now.

Anonymous said...

Let me just add that don't choose who you do or do not like.

Who do you think will be around the longest? Who has the strongest foothold?

Anonymous said...

Exactly. That is why I prefer to just lurk. By the way, I am not a nasty anon. :)

Anonymous said...

Duly noted CTV ;)

sdock10 said...

SS will let us know something when he can. I am certain of that.

Faith, Hope, & Love, My Dear Friend

I miss you.

capture this void said...

Fall Out Boy has already lost a good portion of it's fan base. The only people who seem to be interested in the band are the press nowadays. Pete Wentz and all.

He pretty much fucked them over.

anima said...

I do not know if I could pick the longest.

Green Day, yes.
Muse, yes.
MCR, yes.
Justin Timberlake, yes.

The rest, I am not sure about. Although I have mad love for TBS. I am just not sure about their longevity.

capture this void said...

Miss T, i'm sorry. I didn't see your post. I'm well. I hope you are too?

*hug*

Anonymous said...

So because you have been so nice (considering I'm just a lurker) and I don't get time to come here that often can I ask a couple of questions

1. Do we know WHY Mayo created the other blog rather than switch off anon comments.

2. Who was the person SS was talking about when he said he thought he knew someone's identity but when he mentioned something he could tell by the look on their face he had got it wrong and they obviously didn't know what he was going on about.

capture this void said...

I'm currently debating if MCR will still be around.

Leaning towards no.

anima said...

Anon, actually I do not think any of us know the answers to those questions. Wish we did.

Anonymous said...

I definitely see that CTV. There are some of us (including me) that are still there for all the right reasons, not because of his self-proclaimed shitty-ass looks ;)

I have a soft-spot in my heart for them. Do I think they'll be around in 10? Probably not.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

You know there is one thing we must remember back in the 80s people were saying Duran Duran and Madonna wouldn't last. Look at them now they are still around so just because the music may not have an out ward message doesn't mean that the artiest won't last.

capture this void said...

Haha. Number two.

That still brings a smile to my face.

JocelynHolly said...

Rawr.

Guess whose back for a little? =]

anima said...

MCR will be around only if THEY choose to keep it going and if they clean up some of the mess.

Anonymous said...

Take care siobhan. Hey there CTV.
Squeak Squeak, yeah, that is one of the main reasons why I liked the open door a bit better than fallen. The sound on the second album is more heavier than the first. Maybe I am reading too many guitar magazines, but when I listen to alot of rock sounds, I try to change the sound preferences so I can hear more bass in them.

Out of the three bands that might last:

Green Day
MCR maybe
Justin Timberlake probably

Anonymous said...

Thanks anima, thought I might have missed the answers. So are we still sure Mayo is who we thought, SS wasn't talking about Mayo when he thought he knew who someone was and got it wrong. Just wondering cos it all seems a bit too weird to me and SS always seemed like the voice of reason.

And nobody knows what he is 'in the dark about'?

anima said...

Gotta run. Good topic Mustard. Thank you.

Love you all!

JocelynHolly said...

Green Day
My Chemical Romance
Taking Back Sunday

^^ those are my picks. Green Day have been around for a while, MCR because I have hope, TBS because they are awesome! =]

MissTottenham said...

BC, I've been in the bath. Didn't want to be all smelly for you people ha!

capture this void said...

I bet he talked about the unicorn. How pretty and purple it was and all.

His location can mean a number of things. Only time will tell, I guess.

Anonymous said...

MCR, I'm iffy as well. I mean, how could we not be?

Muse: I definitely think they have staying power. They're fresh. Always coming up with new sounding things. Use old ideas in new ways.

Green Day: A household name. I still think they have another 10 in them. Kinda like the modern day Ramones.

Justin Timberlake: Maybe not as inventive, but he's getting a lot of help from various producers (Timbaland) that keep his sound fresh. I don't like it, but there are a whole lotta people that do.

TBS: I'm uncertain about. Mad Love and everything, but I dont' know that they can hold onto it. I surely hope they do, but I don't know about 10 years worth.

Linkin Park: If they don't do something new and exciting next album, they're going to get washed down the drain. Everything they're doing has been done twice before in my opinion. They need to develop more. But they do have a slight chance.

WHAT ABOUT THE USED?

OK, I was just weirded out at the thought of SS getting sucked in as well. He said whoever it was couldn't have faked the look on their face so he knew it wasn't that person after all.

1. Do we know WHY Mayo created the other blog rather than switch off anon comments.

Some anon here aren't really anon. They're here fairly frequently and some DO post, and post some relevant stuff. Others are complete asshats, bordering on ass-habadashery.

It's hard to just, block everybody I guess.

MCR did influence me into getting into The Used once, but only for a while. After that I stopped listening to them. No hard feelings though

Me too, Paperheart.

They all seem like normal guys. People I can actually hang out with if they weren't in the spotlight, y'know?

That can't be said for the guys in MCR. Some of them, not all.

I'd be ridiculous around Bob. That dude is all kinds of amaaaaaaaaazing.

JocelynHolly said...

Hey Martha! Yes I saw the comment! The video would not work! =[ I'll try again later, okay? =]

Awwh Toujours, you will see many more where that came from!! =]

I am glad to hear that George is doing good!! ^_^

Thanks amyranth, I just wanted to be sure he wasn't meaning he got Mayo's identity wrong that's all cos I don't get the chance to come here every day and thought I might have missed who he meant when he said it.

JocelynHolly said...

CTV, I love that about those guys! They always act the same, on and off stage!

If I were to hang out with Frank from MCR though, I'm sure that there'd be waaay too many laughs going on.

Hi paperheart.

For the people who asked, George is indeed doing well. he is not sparkly at the moment but soon will be cos I got some more twinkly bath bombs from Lush.
