Time has a funny way of punching in.

Do not be led astray...I am here, not there, not everywhere. Although the meaning may be hidden, my words are never buried. You always recognize my presence and hear my voice. It is a great compliment. I hear you as well, and continue to do so with an open mind. My lovelies, it has been far too long since I addressed you directly. Please don't be mad.

It was never my intent to stay, you have given me a path, and I will wander. Judgments aside for the moment, the most promising of you have made this a phenomenal place to find importance in reason; the process of it. Dare I say we complement one another?

p.s. some are not obligated to wear the wool and others do it for good measure.

woah miss t, I love the way you are thinking!

Anonymous said...

Anonymeese! I thought the same thing about the age.
I looked at the 74, reversed it and thought April 7, but Gerard's birthday is April 9.

BTW, I have 78 essays I'm supposed to be grading, but this is way more intriguing.

Anonymous said...

Then if you're so smart Miss T, what's the 20 for? ;)

toujours said...

yes, 74 is one of those odd bits of the story...

a year? (1974)
an age?
there's also a 20 --
74 - 20 = 54?
74 + 20 = 94?

(don't make me pull out the numerology! lol)

Anonymous said...

Eek, Miss T, you are brilliant! I think you've got it!

I 've even tried the Fibonacci sequence but I got bored.

Mayo, post something new, PLEASE.

Wow we're really breaking out the magnifying glass now.

Anonymous said...

You make me smile...
Here are a few honest observations-

1. Leonard, the 74 year old zombie, "had the same appreciation and lust for life that he had when he was 20" Interesting choice of words.

2. "Leonard was taking a walk, contemplating whether or not to grab a coffee from Starbucks on the way home" He has no qualms about going for a walk or getting coffee, in general...

3. Fred, the talking fox... need I elaborate?

I did read what the author said. Writers say many things for many reasons. It may be that the author was hoping to provide you all with something new to discuss. The hidden message... I choose to believe it is left to the individual reader and that there is no right or wrong. Many of the greatest stories, no matter how silly or how error filled, are left open for the reader. The author did well there.

oh wow people I´m impressed.... so many ideas and now numerology ...

I´m not able to think this evening.... ^^

MissTottenham said...

yeah, but he just says that he feels in his 20's. I agree with anonymeese that the 74 was too random. If he didn't say he feels in his 20's, there would be no need to mention 74. I think the emphasis is on the 74.

*looks around for unicorns*

Even I have to admit that the Leonard & Fred story is timeless. :)

I also have to say that the 'lesson', as it were, is a good example of one of the more positive aspects of the internet. In this blog, we're all friendly with each other, and we have a unity goin' on that's uber-difficult to find out there in the "real" world. Because of the semi-anonymity, we're free to discuss whatever we want. And I'm sure that many of us share pieces of ouselves that we're more hesitant to talk about IRL. No one is judged on their looks, IQ, income bracket or any of the other bullshit most of the world finds so important. We've created our own utopia, I tell you!

Now if only we could discourage know-it-all mythical creatures and impersonator wanna-bes from raining on our little village...

Martha Smith-Jones said...

You are welcome both of you.

gnothi seauton said...

So aip, Leonard has no lust for life as our mutual friend was depressed and felt worhless at that age...

... Fred, don't even get me started...

AHHH!

I'm past caring now.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you SisterMidnite.
I think that's what some of the story is saying as well, or what the author is trying to say.

MissTottenham said...

He was 74 years old, he was smart, kind and funny and he had the same appreciation and lust for life that he had when he was 20.

If this is gerard, maybe he is saying that he still has the same passion for his life in the band.

sister midnite said...

SHREK!! I love Shrek!!
Puss In Botts rocks my world! ^__^

Sorry, very OT, I know.
The story has me intrigued, dammit.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet:
Fred the Fox can tell Leonard (that he's a beautiful zombie) until his whiskers fall out; until Leonard starts to believe in himself, words are just words.

If the story is meant as a reference to Gerard, all I can say is that I hope he has belief in himself. I wish *everyone* believed in his/her self.

As my one hero once said,
"Never sell yourself short.
There are enough people in the world who will be only too happy to do that for you."

Great, now I'll be contemplating & philosophizing for the rest of the afternoon. O_o

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Maybe it would be useful to summarise the clues you have so far. There are probably lots more to find.

Anonymous said...

But SisterMidnite, sometimes that's easier said than done. Maybe if this story is relatable to Gerard, he's having a difficult time accepting the person he is. I can't fault him for that, but there's no need to bring the rest of them down in the process.

Hi guys,
I was here for the anon posts.
First, an anon posted in a similar style to whom we believe to be SS thanking us for our ongoing support etc... a few minutes later story anon appeared.

I asked:
Have we two anons or are you one and the same?

The reply:
Dei Gratia, I am one and the same person.

A few minutes later Miss T
noticed the change in the latin on SS's blog.

I'm convinced, though admittedly a tad gullible!

Staring at the zombie/fox story waiting for a lightning flash. How are you all doing?

Hi everyone,

Interested party, good to see your return, I'm glad we didn't scare you off.

I agree everyone will have their own interpretation of the morality contained within that story. What else come out of it boils down to the way you think, its not apparent to everyone.

I had a very stressful day at work, and I kind friend sent me some "pearls of wisdom" *laughs*, I would like to share with you all throughout the day.

Do you know the difference between right and wrong?

Answer: Wrong is the fun one

Faking is a great way to show that you care enough to lie. (Ha)

Nobody is perfect, and by "nobody" I mean nobody else.(laughs)

Martha Smith-Jones said...

I don't know what to make of it MIB. He said it was just for fun and he hoped we had as much fun solving it as he had writing it (or something like that)

I also think whatever is going on behind the scenes seems to have put Mayo and SS in a better mood.

I need to go and tutor chemistry, so all this discussion of the literal/metaphorical meaning of the english language must wait.

If we were warm then, does that mean we are now cold again?

If the fox is also dead/ undead that means they come from the same place. I can't think anymore ! I must change my mindset.

Maybe they are both zombies, but project themselves the way the see themselves in their mind.

Leonard sees himself as ugly and unacceptable and Fred sees himself as sly and cunning. (Just a thought)

Anonymous said...

Ahhh, I'm stumped.

ok, these are the clues, as i see them:

fred from tbs;
leonard from ?;
opening line significant;
"semantics not important", i.e., look at individual words, not phrases;
74;
20.

the numbers make me think we should be looking at every 7th word, or every 4th word, etc.
i tried every 74th word (skipping the opening lines), but bogged down, because,
i mean,
i was counting every 74th word people! D:

any clues i overlooked?

MissTottenham said...

This is a story like a scar. Like flesh knitting together to close and heal the wound. - His bandmates are coming together to help him with his problems.

He was 74 years old, he was smart, kind and funny and he had the same appreciation and lust for life that he had when he was 20. - He still has the same passion for the band.

Coffee was Leonard's only vice - He is not abusing substances.

'I wish I wasnt a zombie Fred, I get so lonely.' Fred rested his head on Leonards lap and looked up at him with big brown eyes. 'Leonard, you are unique. So you're a zombie, so what? Stay what you are. This is a giant floating world and every person is put on this Earth for a reason.- Sometimes he gets lonely, but that's natural and there's nothing wrong with him. It's OK to feel that way. He is getting support.

He has a good friend in fox.

What do you think, maybe?

July 20, 2004? (7/20/04)

July 4?
