It is interesting when you get a fresh perspective of yourself from a new acquaintance. Even at this reasonably accomplished age, I am still able to find myself anew.
Recently, I have been fortunate to gain the friendship of an interesting character. A smart, quick-witted, young “old chap” of a guy whose creativity and open-minded ideals speak volumes for his generation. At his age I was not nearly as wise, worldly, cultured, present, or relevant as he is. Even now his intellect far exceeds my own, and his ability to perceive others astounds me. He is very deliberate with his words, often taking what seems to me to be far too long to respond to my often off-kilter banter. But always following his reflection, he delivers an astute, provocative discourse on whatever topic I had mindlessly rambled into. Seriously, the guy can talk me under the table…and that is saying something.
And I must admit he is a bit off, as well. Regardless, or perhaps in spite of those facts, I find him very interesting.
As it goes with most new friendships there is the crush period. The time where everything about the new friend is fascinating and we often try to find a bit of ourselves in our new pal. And so my new friend has attempted to find fascination in me, and has asked for the privilege (his term, not mine) of reading some of my writing. I initially waved him off, figured he would find what he wanted or give up. But, after the third very polite request, I obliged.
It is strange; I can write for an unknown audience without fear. I can put it out there for the world to read, all of it…without a second thought. Yet when I directly hand over a few poems to my new friend, I am paralyzed.
As I said, my new friend is very perceptive. So, when I stuffed a few of my poems in his hand and continued on about the weather, he immediately detected my insecurity. He saw in my rushed speech and downcast eyes that I was nervous. And while I waited for him to speak, to interrupt my prattle, I reeled. He placed the pages face down on the table, then said “Ah yes, I see I was correct. You are an exhibitionist and shy, both.”
Which really put me to thought…what purpose am I serving with these characteristics, if characteristics do in fact serve us?
I suppose that those opposing characteristics, that in my case are so apparently extreme, benefit each other. I can only imagine that my unchecked exhibitionism would undoubtedly lead me to my depraved end, and that my need to slap the world in the face keeps me from becoming a total shut-in.
p.s. what you got in you; what it takes.

Good Morning, Everyone!
I'm finally back from the bosom of my family, got here late yesterday. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had 27 people for dinner! We were even able to see my nieces husband before they sent him back to Iraq this past Sunday.
I haven't caught up on the comments yet, but I did see that Elena is still not feeling well. I hope you are doing better, and we will call you today. Love to you.
Wendy, GO SAINTS!
I don't watch football, but I will jump up and down with you and do the happy dance for your team!
Missed all of last weeks water therapy, but I got back into it Monday. (I had to bring my Dad back to town for doctors visit. It went pretty well, but they need to run more tests to see what the problem is.) After running around like a crazy thing for the last 5 days or so, I was a having a little trouble Monday. There are about 10 in the class, and at one point we stand facing the edge of the pool and grab our ankles to lift our leg in a hamstring curl.
Well, in this very huge echoing room (the pool is indoors) I pulled my leg back and this horrible pain shot down my leg. I grabbed the side of the pool and yelled "FUuuuuu...."
Not sure what the therapist would have said if I had got the "CK" out. :)
I have another session today and after that I am going...
BIRTHDAY SHOPPING!
J.'s birthday is Thursday, the 3rd. She said she didn't want much this year, but I am getting her a few things I know she will like, and taking her to dinner on Thursday.
I'll be back on tonight, and will catch up by then on the comments. Hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving!

Someone needs to fix blogger.
Hi Amy, it'd be good, I looked on my phone yesterday and if I clicked on "newest" it sent me to some non-existant page for comments 1401-2546 or some such, just blank.
Seems to be ok from home today though, so that's a change
i wish it'd be fixed soon, too. the wonky numbers are irritating.

full list of nominees
Congrats to them all.
LOL!
well, congrats to them all for being nominated, but I either have never heard, or don't really like any of them :/
oh! i hope your eye heals very quick, ergo! rest it as much as you can.
nashville was fun, i have to admit it. the main reason we went down was to go to an ice show my folks attend every year -- the group fills a building with ice sculptures -- but we also did a little bit of shopping, too.
nashville's only two hours away, so it was a nice day trip.
i don't understand what the difference between a album and a record is? at first i thought they meant record as in a single track, but there's also a best song category. :/
idk. even when i was a teen, the grammy's seemed lame and out-of-sync.
Oh that's not too far, the ice sculptures must look good, they do all sorts of things? I saw one of those ice hotels on tv the other night, Joanna Lumley travelled to the arctic circle in a quest to see the northern lights, she grew up in Malaysia and had a book about a penguin as a child with an illustration of them, she stayed one night in the ice hotel and she did eventually see them, I'd love to as well, they look totally unreal
oh and the point of that is, they had all ice sculptures inside the hotel, arctic animals, even chandeliers, all made of ice
(she is also a very funny lady)
oh yeah, I missed that, what is the difference?
and I think there are too many award shows now, they are diluting each others relevance
this year the theme was the charlie brown christmas, and so the whole space was divided into rooms, each with a scene recreated in ice and with the music playing in the background. everything is sculpted from ice, something like a million pounds of it.
it was like walking through the cartoon. :)
but I either have never heard, or don't really like any of them
Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood, Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, Ac/dc, Metallica, Ministry, Green Day, U2, Tony Bennett, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Judas Priest, Slayer, Kings of leon, Depeche Mode, Alice In Chains, Linkin Park, Booker T Jones, Brian
Setzer, Harry Connick Jr, John Forgety, Neil Young, Prince, Black Eyed Peas, MGMT, The Fray
Best nominees in years.
wow that must have looked amazing!
did you take any photos?
11:29,
Those are the nominees? I'm glad I don't watch the Grammys. I always thought that award show was really lame. Well actually, I think all of them are. Super boring.
BUT
Though my choice for hard rock album should go to AC/DC, Hard Rock Performance: Either AC/DC or Alice in Chains.
Best Metal Performance should go to Megadeth.
I like Depeche Mode, so my choice for alternative music album should go to them.
anon, I can read, like I said, I either don't really like them or haven't heard the songs.
My apologies for not personally being a big fan of any of the listed performers, not saying I can't see their talent, and don't enjoy an occasional listen to some of them, but none of them do much for me.
I hope the ones you like most win in their respective categories
HI BC
how's things?
woo! I just got the theme song from one of my fave sci-fi shows as a ringtone for my phone :]
my stepdad took some photos, but unfortunately with film, so they won't be developed for awhile.
and now, it's that time again. gotta work tomorrow, so i have to chuck myself in bed at a proper time.
see you later, ergo, hope you feel better as the day goes by!
hi and good night bc. :)
and good night to you, too, grammy anon.
sweet dreams!
thanks TJ :]
sweet dreams
mayo,
for the most part, today was a lost day, but this afternoon i sat in front of an open window, listened to the rain, and read a couple of volumes of flight. that was pleasant.
have you read any of flight? they're up to volume six, i think, and i want them all...but i end up just checking them out of the library. there's always something amazing in each volume, though, whether art or storytelling. i think my favorites from this volume are "the excitingly mundane life of kenneth shuri" by jp ahonen and "walters" by cory godbey. "dead at noon" by rodolphe guenoden didn't grab my attention art-wise, but it was an extremely well-told tale, probably the best scripted piece in the book.
reading those books always reminds me of reading heavy metal as a kid. the day it came in the mail was always a creative day, as the enthusiasm for art that magazine inspired could never be denied.
it's a good memory, and a mournful one, too. i wish i was that kid, still, sometimes.
only sometimes.
anyway, read them, if you haven't! they are wonderful little packages of beauty.
take care, mayo, and have a good night.
sweet dreams.
Goodnight tj, sweet dreams.
Hi there ergo, how's things? Sorry I left so soon, had to get some things done.
Won't be staying for long though, gonna do some writing. Goodnight and sweet dreams to you, I hope your day went well!!
Goodnight blog.
thanks BC, no problem I need to have a lie down again anyway
just making some new ringtones for my phone, got Blakes 7 and Dr Who now (the old and the new)
as well as a few songs from albums, love the Motorola melody studio
hope your writing goes well & sweet dreams

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: "Take only ONE. God is watching."
Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples."
much love EP xx

Little Johnny was sitting in class doing math problems when his teacher picked him to answer a question, "Johnny, if there were five birds sitting on a fence and you shot one with your gun, how many would be left?" "None," replied Johnny, "cause the rest would fly away." "Well, the answer is four," said the teacher, "but I like the way you're thinking."
Little Johnny says, "I have a question for you. If there were three women eating ice cream cones in a shop, one was licking her cone, the second was biting her cone and the third was sucking her cone, which one is married?"
"Well," said the teacher nervously, "I guess the one sucking the cone."
"No," said Little Johnny, "the one with the wedding ring on her finger, but I like the way you're thinking."
lotsa love EP xx
goodnight blogbelieve, see you (hopefully clearly) in my morning
♥xx♥
i don't understand what the difference between a album and a record is? at first i thought they meant record as in a single track, but there's also a best song category.
'Record of the Year' is for a single track. It takes things like production quality and arrangement into account, which makes it a very different award from 'Song of the Year' which is essentially a songwriter's award.
Just thought I'd clear that up for those who find it confusing. :)
Oh, and GO MGMT!!!
They are a breath of fresh air in the music scene. I love them.
The water is warm
But it's sending me shivers
A baby is born
Crying out for attention
Memories fade
Like looking through a fogged mirror
Decisions too
Decisions are made
Decisions are made and not bought
But I thought this wouldn't hurt a lot
I guess not
Good Morning!
Ok, I didn't get caught up, but I will, tomorrow. After therapy yesterday and walking so much afterwards, I was hurting like a friggin weasel. Better today, fingers crossed!
Welsh anon, what a nice version of Happy Birthday. I'm sure J. will love it. Thanks from her to you too Ergo!
I finished shopping and wrapping yesterday, and picked up the cheesecake. She didn't want cake cake this year, so I will be putting candles on a cheesecake instead!
My Mum got her a card that says "To My Daughter", because she said she feels like she has another daughter in the family. We've been friends forever and a day, and I can't imagine life without her.
AWWW, there's a little squirrel outside playing in the leaves and running up and down a tree. It's darling. And now there's a couple of Blue Jays walking around. I need to get more bird feed for the feeder when I get bunny food this week.
Ergo, I hope your eye is doing better. A speck of dust feels like a boulder when you get it in your eye!
Ok, now there's three squirrels, two Blue Jays and two doves outside. I think we have an odd version of The Twelve Days of Christmas going on.
Speaking of Christmas, I want to know...who decided to put all the classic Christmas shows on at the end of November/very early December?! It used to be the week OF that Rudolph, The Grinch, Frosty, etc. were on, now it's right after Thanksgiving. Soon it will be "tonight on ABC, "Halloween 3"
followed by "Charlie Brown Escapes The Great Pumpkin To Grab A Tree For Christmas".
Mayo, S.S., Elena, Amy, Ergo, Wendy, TJ, B.C., Martha, Mya, Miss T., Welsh Anon, Andrea, Paperheart, Jade, Anima, anons, lurkers and anyone else I missed,
Have a great day.
Love,
L.
Welsh Anon,
Have you ever heard of or had Tinker Cakes? I made some for heritage day at work a few years ago. (I took them and some bead work created in Cherokee, N.C.)
I think they are for May Day, and back to school times? All I know is they were a pain and a half to make. No amount of flour made it easier to roll out the sticky dough with grated apples.
Speaking of bead work, I need to find my dress that my Grandmum made for me when I was a baby. She made it out of blue leather, cut the fringes and did the beadwork. It's beautiful! I also have a beaded headband she made me. I also have lots of handmade bracelts, necklaces and a dream catcher from Cherokee, made by the elders.
Have a great day,
L.
Last but not least...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY J. !!!!!
Love you bunches.
OK, wait, one more thing...
S.S.,
I found this video yesterday and wanted to share.
Cat Messes With Cop Writing Ticket
Not sure if the cat belongs to the person the cop is writing the ticket to, but it would be funny if it was.
"Hey, that's my human. Hey, you, Mister Cop. Let me see what you're doing...Oh, no, don't write that, here let me help you, you don't need to bother with them, hey look, I can see my house when I stand on your head..."
Love ya!
L.
Time to Pretend
I'm feeling rough, I'm feeling raw, I'm in the prime of my life.
Let's make some music, make some money, find some models for wives.
I'll move to Paris, shoot some heroin, and fuck with the stars.
You man the island and the cocaine and the elegant cars.
This is our decision, to live fast and die young.
We've got the vision, now let's have some fun.
Yeah, it's overwhelming, but what else can we do.
Get jobs in offices, and wake up for the morning commute.
Forget about our mothers and our friends
We're fated to pretend
To pretend
We're fated to pretend
To pretend
I'll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms
I'll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world
I'll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home
Yeah, I'll miss the boredom and the freedom and the time spent alone.
There's really nothing, nothing we can do
Love must be forgotten, life can always start up anew.
The models will have children, we'll get a divorce
We'll find some more models, everything must run it's course.
We'll choke on our vomit and that will be the end
We were fated to pretend
To pretend
We're fated to pretend
To pretend
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
It's no use, MGMT anon. This bunch hasn't listened to a "new" band since 2006 when TBP came out and they thought MCR was new.
*comes in singing*
~~~This is what the world is for
making electricity
You can feel it in your mind
Oh you can do it all the time
Plug it in, change the world
You are my electric girl...~~~
Go MGMT (and Silversun Pickups and Zac Brown Band)!!!
Hello Mayo, SS, Sweetcheeks, L (and J), Amy, Ergo, MissT, Martha, Welsh Anon, TJ, Elena, Possum, Red nosed reindeers (and humans too), everyone!!!
How are you all, today? Well and good and feeling the Christmas spirit, I hope!!!
~~~HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN!!!!~~~
"Count your life by smiles, not tears.
Count your age by friends, not years."
I hope your day is filled with smiles, happiness, many hugs and much love!
L: Birthday cheesecake!!! Great (and yummy) idea! And, welcome back! You were missed. I'm glad to hear you had a nice visit/Thanksgiving with your parents. I'm also glad to hear you've resumed your water therapy (well, we could have done without that painful FU~UUUUUUU incident)! Let's try to not have more of those!
;)
Ergo: I'm sorry to hear about the eye trouble! I hope your vision is back to normal today!
Sweetcheeks: I'm torn to "shreds" in trying to decide who to cheer towards victory in that Grammy Metal catagory!!!!
I mean, Judas Priest ~ AC/DC ~ Slayer ~ Megadeath ~ Ministry ~ Lamb Of God!!!! How does one choose?
I don't know! That's such a tough one for me! Okay, my heart is telling me to cheer on LOG (today)!! So, follow my heart I must! GO LAMB OF GOD!!!!!
That ROCK category is a pretty tough choice too. I do have a question: When did Metallica STOP being METAL and start being HARD ROCK???
Perhaps that is a very good sign! Perhaps the Grammys have finally realized just how many great metal bands are out there so they had to move some of them to the HARD ROCK category!
Well, it's just a theory!
:P
7:04 ~ Thank you for clearing that up so eloquently (and clearly)!
11:23 ~ "Twelve and oh, Twelve and oh, Twelve and oh!!" I love it!!! I shall be singing that until the 15th (I hope and I BELIEVE)!!!
TJ: I'm happy to hear you had such a nice time in Nashville!!!
I think that is all, for now! Have a great day, everyone!!!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
6/Wendy
PS: Feel better soon, Elena!!
PPS: Congratulations to all the Grammy nominees!!!!
PPPS: A special congratulations to all the Louisiana artists who were nominated for a Grammy this year:
Allen Tousaint, Harry Connick Jr, Terrence Blanchard, Britney Sprears, The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet, Buckwheat Zydeco, Pine Leaf Boys, the Magnolia Sisters, Cedric Watson et Bijou Creole, Carlos Miguel Prieto, and anyone I missed!
*waves to Lil Wayne (can't be nominated ever year)*
:P
Hi PJ, KOL anon, Em, Andrea, GS, Anima, Paper, BI and Mya!!!
Hi hi everyone and anons, hope you're well.
J: Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!! I hope it's a good one!! *hugs*
Sugarplum: Hi there, how are you? Good I hope. I know, the nominees are pretty hard to choose, but even so I wish them the best of luck.
Can't stay I'm afraid, I got some shopping to do. Talk to you later guys.
Hiya guys, how are you all?
First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY OPJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you have had a fantastic day sweetie.
My Mum got her a card that says "To My Daughter", because she said she feels like she has another daughter in the family. We've been friends forever and a day, and I can't imagine life without her.
That is really sweet OPL.
Ergo, I hope your eye gets better soon. I have such delicate eyes and they get irritated easily so I totally sympathise with you sweetie.
And I want to wish you all a great weekend.
Take care guys. I hope the comments are fixed soon, they are getting right on my tits now.
xxx
Hi and bye BC sweetie. Have fun shopping.
Tata everyone!
he who fights with monsters
might take care
lest he thereby
becomes a monster...
And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.
Then it becomes a battle of wills. Which is stronger. You or the monster in the abyss.
Which do you feed and nourish?
Which do you walk away from and starve?
Is there a clearer mirror in this universe than the dark mirror of the abyss?
It's modern philosophy day at Mayo's! Have at it. :)
Good morning!
I can see normally!!! yay!
thanks missT, eye issues are awful, hope you avoid any too
hey Wendy, if you like MGMT you should check out Empire of the Sun, Aussie band, they swept the Arias this year. The US hasn't picked them up yet, but the UK and Europe have.
Hi L!
have a good shop BC
HAPPY BIRTHDAY J!!!!!! (on your 3rd)
I like those quotes anon
Don't know if he would have been called a modern day philosopher, but here's a take on it.
"...another few seconds to the edge...The Edge...There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. The others-the living-are those who pushed their control as far as they felt they could handle it, and then pulled back, or slowed down, or did whatever they had to when it came time to choose between Now and Later."
---Hunter S. Thompson, from the book "Hell's Angels"
Hi L!
what a load of bs. you fed that monster cos it's part of you after all.
and thanks 7:04 for that explanation got it now
:]
Hey, Wendy, Miss T., B.C., Ergo and anons. Thanks for Jen for the birthday wishes, I know she will be to thank you herself either later tonight or tomorrow.
Just a moment, getting ready to go out, but wanted to tell everyone Good Night, and yeah, it sounds corny, but love, peace and happiness to all.

Anon, there's a old Cherokee saying that there are Two Wolves inside you, Good and Evil, that are constantly fighting each other. It's true that there is gooda and evil in all of us. No one is all sinner or all saint. The saying continues with the grandson of an Elder asking which Wolf will win. The Elder answers
"The one you feed."
We should thank Friedrich Nietzsche quoting anon @ December 3, 2009 4:29 PM for posting the quote that lead to this being declared modern philosophy day at Mayo's.
4:42 & 4:49 are my original modern philosophy thoughts & questions prompted by that 1 quote. I'm looking forward to reading more. :)
It's true that there is gooda and evil in all of us.
HA! It's a new dairy product, gooda cheese!
Should be good and evil in all of us. :)
5:05, I like that idea. Can I have a raincheck for topics since I can't stay now?
goodnight L
love peace and happiness to you too, it's good regardless of how corny it is ,lol
gooda and evidam?
off for my walk, back later
good and evil in all of us. :)
Yes. That is so true. The real problems arise when individuals can't and won't acknowledge the evil which dwells within themselves. When they refuse to see and recognize that evil.
Hello to OPL and Ergo.
Raincheck issued to OPL.
Have a peaceful walk Ergo. :)
The
Wolves Within
An old Grandfather said to his grandson, who came to him with anger at a friend who had done him an injustice...
"Let me tell you a story. I too, at times, have felt great hate for those who have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It's like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die."
"I have struggled with these feelings many times. It is as if there are two wolves inside me; one is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and does not take offense when no offense was intended. He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way.
But...the other wolf... ah! The littlest thing will send him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all of the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing."
"Sometimes it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit."
The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes and asked, "Which one wins, Grandfather?"
The Grandfather smiled and quietly said, "The one I feed."
Version II
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between the two "wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed"!

OPL, I have heard of Tinker cakes but never tried them. We make a very similar version called Picau ar y maen / cacen gri /teisen radell. I call them cacen gri. We use raisins or currants instead of apple. They are delicious especially when they are still warm. Best served with a nice pot of tea!
I'm glad that OPJ enjoyed her special birthday song. Tell her to imagine a Welsh Male Voice Choir singing it just for her!!
Sending you love and best wishes, not just today, but every day.
Don't forget to make a wish!
had to cut walk short as it is now pouring with rain, I could see the dark clouds getting closer as I decided a light jog might be a better idea!
satellite connection going in and out though
great day for baking cookies!!
Mmmmmm cookies! Can we put in a special order for gingerbread angelz?
...and chocolate milk or hot cocoa! :)
I've always been curious what the difference is between Hot Chocolate and Hot Cocoa.
Besides marshmallows.
EUREKA!!!
you can make chocolate thumbprint cookies and have nutella in the dent!
(I thought it may melt too much)
hi amy
*brings in plate of cookies*
I assume hot chocolate is just boiling milk poured over chocolate and stirred to melt,(which is heavenly but so rich) whereas cocoa is with cocoa.
Though "hot chocolate" seems to be used to describe any hot choc flavoured milk in reality
Hello?
Hi J!
happy birthday!!! :]
Thanks Ergo! I iz full of Mexican dinner and I haz a happee. :)
oh Mexican dinner always makes for a happee!
so you had a good birthday?
Yeah, I did. It was quiet, no big fuss. Read, mucked around the house, opened presents, went to dinner.
Lisa got me 2 DVDs--Hellboy and Mamma Mia!--3 CDs--Punkarama volume something or other, it's a series of mixed punk songs; Puddle of Mudd, and yes, ABBA's greatest hits--a bag of assorted hair clasps and such, a little stuffed bear, and a pasta/pastry wheel that I got a couple weeks ago. Plus there's cheesecake in the fridge for tomorrow. :)
Thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday and today, that was really sweet. *hugs*
*sneak attack birthday glomp!*
happy birthday j.! any birthday with cheesecake is a good birthday. :)
not a problem J! I was going to send an ecard too but for some reason I keep getting a server error, don't know what the deal is, though we do have bad weather about
the gifts sound nice, I have ABBA's hits too, it is just music that makes me happy, I think as it was so prevalent for so many years growing up, I have the videos of Abba gold 1 and 2 as well, they are great if you can get them
Does it have Bang a Boomerang? They wrote it in Oz and I think the lyrics are hilarious "dummy dum dummy dummy dum dum" what you write when you can't actually think of anything to write, lol
hey TJ!
how iz you?
*loves the glomping*
Hey TJ! Thanks for the DM on Twitter, that was cool. And yeah, about the cheesecake. YUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMM. :)
Tell you the truth, Ergo, I haven't looked too closely at the ABBA song titles, but I'll check them out and let you know tomorrow. I know Money (x3) is on it. Does that help?
hi ergo!
aw, j., i wanted to find a fun link to send you, but i was too swamped with orders at the shop to steal any internet time. :(
but i was thinkin' about ya! :D
Don't worry about it. I pretty much forgot my birthday was even close until this past Monday! And then BAM! There it was. I think they do that when you get older...
Maybe it's the Alzheimer's kicking in, I don't know.
that was one of the the first 2 proper ever singles I owned!! I was given it as a gift by my grandmother, I had Money Money Money with Crazy World on the b side, and Dancing Queen with That's Me on the b side.
I still have them too, must have been xmas of '76 I got them, or my birthday in '77
no, not alzheimer's...it's just your mind's way of protecting itself. can stress about a birthday you don't know is coming! :)
oh, and thank you to the anon at 7:04 this morning with the answer about record v. song v. album. very informative!
Anybody figured out what Mayo's reference is to on his profile?
Oh I didn't noticed, he must have only recently changed it
I assume it's a book but which or why, no idea
strike that d on noticed :/
i didn't even realize he had changed it!!
was that what the anon the other night was talking about? because it is awfully sneaky...
:)
but, no, i don't get it. yet.
l. quoted a hunter s. thompson book earlier...do the pages match up?
no it wasn't changed earlier today
I have no idea. We've thought of different references, but that wasn't one of them. *facepalm, as you say*
Have to look that up tomorrow. Hmm.
Actually it was there last night, so it's been at least 24 hrs.
let me see if i can get the page in google books. be back asap.
oh, was it? then i shall not go to google books. lol
when did you notice it last night?
maybe it was yesterday (my time) that I looked. I know it wasn't last I looked
do you know what that might have been blogtime?
Who really cares? He's probably just blabbering to himself.
Um, it was probably around 11 our time, TJ, or maybe a little later. Can't say for sure. Maybe that WAS the thing the anon was talking to you about the other night. When I read over all that, I couldn't figure it out either.
no idea TJ sorry, the days kinda blur blogwise lol
i was just backreading, and i think maybe that's what the anon was referring to. that was monday night though...are we that slow on the uptake?? lol
it wasn't there when the anon said that though
...are we that slow on the uptake??
Or is he just that slow in changing his profile? Ah-haaaaa, there's the question!
it wasn't there when the anon said that though
well, then, that's all my theories busted!
*shakes fist at mayo*
didn't elena call him cryptic boy, once? lol
oh I don't know, we just have to check every book that mentions Korea, that shouldn't take long....
LOL
If we start now...
Fuck, I don't have that kinda time.
Mayo, a hint? A clue?
C'mon, Cryptic Boy, spill.
yeah, what book are you reading, mr. mayo?
I guess whoever he's talking to will figure it out eventually. Or not. Ah, life at Mayo's.
yeah, frustrating!
:)
wouldn't be Mayo if it was straight forward
have you finished your coffee lollies yet TJ?
And, seeing as how it's 11.45 on my clock, I'm now officially 44.
*toots own horn*
congrats on the anniversary of being born, j.!!
ergo, i haven't, because i'm saving them for afternoons at work. the 3 o'clock hour, in particular.
i need all the help i can to get through it.
*throws streamers*
*balloons fall from the ceiling*
woooohoooooo!!!!
There are coffee-flavored lollipops? Starbucks, I'll bet.
Hi guys. Again, happy birthday J, I hope it was a good one!!
*hugs*
hi bc. :)
j., they're indonesian ones ergo sent. pretty much just a square of hard, sugared coffee. :)
I'll have to see if I can get you some, they taste like real good coffee, need to be heaps bigger though!
Kopiko
Thanks, BC! *hugs* That's so sweet. Both times. :D
TJ, what to get for the coffee drinker who has everything: coffee on a stick!
Oh, L would love them, Ergo, she's the coffee hound in our house. Do they make Tab-flavored ones, by chance? *asks hopefully, making hopeful eyes*
Hiya tj and ergo
haven't come across Tab flavour sorry for L, J
though I will keep eyes open
hi BC
everyone needs coffee on a stick! very handy, no danger of spillage. yep.
i keep them in my apron paocket at work, and even use them for bribes in extreme situations.
Ok...
*wads up end of shirt in hands, waiting ever so patiently*
;)
Ladies, I'm gonna call it a night. The bday's over, I'm tired, etc etc.
Thanks to everyone who wished me the happies: Ergo, BC, Wendy, TJ, Miss T, Welsh Anon (can I get Tom Jones to sing that instead? :D), and Anon at 7.12 PM.
Goodnight all!
xo jen
I just had one now :]
couldn't resist, I have them by the computer at the moment
they are great if you're driving too
goodnight J sweet dreams ♥
Dear SS,
Thank you, baby. I already did, and I do believe its coming true. :*
Goodnight, Precious. I love you.
My heart to yours, always.
xo jen
Goodnight J, sweet dreams to you and L
good night j., glad you spent a part of your birthday here. :)
oh, er...i should actually be going to bed, too. got distracted by mr. distraction. :)
good night ergo, good night bc! sweet dreams.
You mean the love of your life, Toujours.
goodnight TJ, sweet dreams to you too
mayo,
so tonight i had new music playing in my ears -- my sister picked up a few songs from itunes for me, gaps in my collection -- and then this pesky little puzzle from you...
which means i am going to bed with a smile. it was a rough, tiring day, but that's done, and i'm not even carrying it into sleep with me.
you are a sneak, you know, but that's okay. i kinda like being befuddled by you. *grin*
good night, mayo, and sweet dreams.
oh pretty anon, goodnight
stories of love and lust
I stood upon a path today,
and realized that the fork
I followed led away
from hearth and comfort.
I strode on into chaos.
seeking for adventure,
swept up in currents
of destruction and despair.
I struggled forward
against the howling storm
until—exhausted—I stopped
and realized I was a fool.
I stayed my course no more,
turning back, and hurried home
to you—sped onward by
remembrance and dreams of warmth.
Green, Green Grass Of Home
The old home town looks the same
As I step down from the train
And there to meet me is my Mama and Papa;
Down the road I look and there runs Mary.
Hair of gold and lips like cherries
It's good to touch The green, green grass of home.
Yes, they'll all come to meet me
Arms raching smiling sweetly
It's good to touch The green, green grass of home.
The old house is still standing,
Tho' the paint is cracked and dry.
And there's that old oak tree
That I used to play on.
Down the lane I walk with my sweet Mary
Hair of gold and lips like cherries
It's good to touch
the green, green grass of home.
Yes, they'll...
Then I awake and look around me,
At four green walls, that surround me.
And I realize, I was only dreamig
For there's a guardAnd there's a sad old padre,
Arm in arm we'll walk at daybreak
Again, I'll touch the green, green grass of home.
Yes, they'll all come to see me
In the shade of that old oak tree
As they lay me
'neath the green, green grass of home.
Delilah
I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
She was my woman
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind
My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah
I could see that girl was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free
At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting
I cross the street to her house and she opened the door
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my delilah
Why, why, why delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me delilah I just couldn’t take any more
[insert trumpet solo here]
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me delilah I just couldn’t take any more
Forgive me delilah I just couldn’t take any more
Oh thanks anon, I love Delilah!
Tom Jones is just so cool, him working with art of Noise and Burning Down the House, and him being in Mars Attacks, he still has 'IT' lol
Haha. Fooled you. Tom Jones was little old Welshie all along. You'd never 'ave guessed would you? Be honest now, I fooled you didn't I.!!
So OPJ you like Mr Tom Jones. Well it does'nt surprise me one bit. He's got a hell'va voice. You should all come down to my local pub one night and have a good old sing song. Tom Jones songs are popular, oh, and Shirley Bassey, "The minute you walked in the joint, I could see you were a man of distinction, a real big spender, good looking. so refined ..."
You can imagine the scene, a pub full of drunken welsh people singing their little hearts out. Brilliant. We do like to sing here in Wales, well damn it there's nothing else to do here is there!
Do you like a good old sing song Mayo? Don't forget if you're coming over to Wales give me a call and I'll organise a 'little do' in your honour at the pub. We always end the night by singing the Welsh National Anthem:-
Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.
Chorus:
Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r heniaith barhau.
Don't forget to practice your welsh Mayo, because I'll expect you to join in with the singing.
I was just going to hit publish when I saw you sneak in there Ergo. How are you?
Have to tell you this . A few seconds after I published my comment the phone rang and the first thing I thought was, bloody hell, Mayo's coming over to Wales!! Aaargh. How the hell did he get my phone number?
It wasn't Mayo though. Shame really. Never mind. One day maybe.
I was wrong all along, although it does come as some sort of comfort to know that I was right about at least that much of it. A wannabe contradiction on my best of days and just a very poor liar on my worst. The same, but different. And the same question remains, just who the fuck am I?
^ Are you Tom Jones?
hey welsh anon!
I'm good thanks
those pub sing alongs sound like great fun
hope you have a great day
Mayo
Q: What do you call a dog with no hind legs and metal balls?
A: Sparky!
much love EP xx
SS
Q: What's E.T. short for?
A: Because he has little legs!
lotsa love EP xx
goodnight blogbelieve, see you in my morning
♥xx♥
6:40 it can't be that bad can it? Hope you find out who you are, but while you're figuring it out, don't forget to enjoy all that's around you
Some questions will always remain unanswered. They simply need to be pondered over and over again. A lucky man is one who does not have to search alone for the answers.
You know who you are. :)

This statement I like very much.
Sometimes you have only to look into the eyes of those who love you most to remember who you really are.
Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me
Mayo, this day I pop in here occasionally to wonder, but I can only speculate about your position in a hypothetical narrative. How can we judge its relative significance? is my question.
Are you intending to provide the illusion of randomness?
I'm not asking vis a vis segments of a narrative, but in terms of the actual sequential order.
(Sometimes, I miss some of this. Not all, obviously. But, some. ^_^ )
good morning!!
hope everyone is having a lovely day :]
Kapunua what are you talking about? Are you still pretending that everything is all about you.
I think you are not welcome here. Maybe you should mind your business.
She's probably talking about the "mystery" words that Mayo put up and trying to tell people they refer to her. Why else would she came back?
She come back because she saw that SS spoke to OPJ and she jealous. Now has to prove that even if SS isn't one of her stupid follower Mayo still is.
Don't listen to her. Its not like he's going come on here and tell her she's wrong. And she knows that. Ignore her and she will go way.
Why don't you "speculate" about your own position HERE which is that you don't HAVE one. That's right "Sweetie" why don't you think about THAT and chew on it for a little while!! Kiss kiss, good bye, run along now!
brrrrrr
baby it's cold outside
Hello Ergo, Kapunua and anons.
Ergo how's your eye today? I have to admit I'm really squeamish when it comes to eyes. I can deal with broken bones and blood and guts but when it comes to eyes I'm pathetic! I think it stems from a biology class in school when we had to cut a cow's eye in half. It was frozen and we had to use a tiny hacksaw!!! Apologies to anyone who's eating!! haha.
Kapunua how are you and your mum these days? Hope things are a little easier for you. Take care.
Must go now.
Ta ta.
there. that's better.
meow? meow?
i think the cat wants warm milk!
ta ta welshie.
*goes get more logs for the fire*
hello again,
*walks in sweating*
it's certainly not cold here!
hi welsh anon, eye is really good today. I remember cutting up bulls eyes, I taught science so did it every year. Ours were never frozen though.
Think I might nick into town, I need more butter to make more cookies, now I know you can use nutella and it doesn't melt in jamdrops (which couldn't really be called jam-drops in that case, but I know what I mean lol)
6:10, 6:10 & 6:45. Go fuck yourselves. Stupid dense bitches.
SS spoke to OPJ? LOL. Sure he did.
Keep telling yourself that SS didn't speak to her. He did at 7:12. And in case you missed it she answered him.
Dear SS,
Thank you, baby. I already did, and I do believe its coming true. :*
Goodnight, Precious. I love you.
My heart to yours, always.
xo jen
December 4, 2009 12:15 AM
Because she has nothing to hide or be ashamed of.
Of course 7:49 is calling names once again. That all you can think of?
BUMP
Anon @ 2:27, I like that.
Kind of reminds me of today, and the 20cm of hell that's blowing around outside.
That could have been anyone. You just convince yourselves it must have been SS.
If he's such a great friend and they have such a close relationship, why didn't he send his regards on her own blog?
SS, since you're such great pals with OPJ, go kiss her booty at her own blog.
All of you would leave this place in a heartbeat if you could have a relationship with SS like OPJ has.
You are all outcasts. This is why you come to this horrible place to spread your hatred and vitriol.
To the fool that posted this at VV's. You can have your "special relationship" with that idiot SS, and that other old moron Mayo.
lots of love
ms "hate & vitriolic" anon.
kiss my grits
If SS and OPJ have such a great relationship then why does he post anonymously? It's not like he doesn't have a blogger account.
I was in the grocery store and realised as I walked into the soup/condiment and sauces aisle that they were playing Tom Jones singing Delilah!!
So I passed the Mayonnaise singing along to Tom Jones LOL
If SS and OPJ have such a great relationship then why does he post anonymously? It's not like he doesn't have a blogger account.
Maybe he doesn't want Jam...i meant his wife to find out. ^_~
Maybe he doesn't want Jam...i meant his wife to find out. ^_~
Oh yeah. I guess you're right. That might mess up his plans to have those kids he was talking about in the AP article.
This is great!
Plus i heard his wife throws hot coffee on people who messes with her man.I forgot where i heard that.
I heard she threatened to kick Meghan Mayhem's ass when she tried to get in his pants. Those Jersey girls can be pretty scary when you cross them.
I wonder if she found out about his affair in Germany. O_O
Maybe. That could be why Gerard has to wear a sock in his pants. O_o
Meghan whatshoface tried to get into SS's pants? Man she gets around.
Maybe. That could be why Gerard has to wear a sock in his pants. O_o
LOL! Snip Snip. Eliza has a way with scissors.
Did I say this was great? I'm sorry. I meant this is fantastic!
What affair in Germany? I remember OPJ posting about GERARD having an affair in Germany but not Frank unless she meant it was both of them.
Eliza would have used scissors, but a Jersey girl would probably opt for a butcher knife. Probably a nice clean cut. A gifted surgeon would probably have been able to reattach, but...it really wouldn't be the same again ever. :(
I think Gerard and Frank did the dirty with each other.
Yeah, me too.
