And my Dad would always ask her, "What're ya reading?" and she would tell him all about this blog. (And he knew a lot, because he also met Solly, Smoke and Fim. He bought them dinner and passes to Epcot Center. He liked them a lot.) More and more my Mom would get upset and say, "That stupid blog again. They're all picking on her again, she's not even there!"
And my Dad would get so upset, my Mom stopped telling him. Oh, he had such choice things to say about you lot. She showed him pictures of you too and he was aghast. "THEY are the ones picking it out on my daughter? Please. They're jealous."
So you can take your "condolences" and you can write them on a big banner and hang them off the front of this blog and SS's. I seriously hope you all get to marry Mayo and SS, or have their babies or whatever it is that you want. Maybe they'll see how wonderful you are and finally hook up with you.

today must've been friday the thirteenth somewhere, or else i had been tagged "it" in a game of murphy's law. the upheaval here at the blog was supported in the real world by every little thing going wrong that possibly could.
tonight after work i just wanted to get back to the house and put in a dvd and forget the day ever happened, you know?
so of course the power goes out ten minutes before i get home. it turns out we're having several severe thunderstorms, one right after the other. the electricity had been out for most of the evening. dinner was a melting pint of ice cream, eaten in the dark, sitting in front of my bedroom window, watching the lightning.

hey there 5:37, i've only been able to watch the vids from the roxy show just once, so i can't really say much about the songs. i like them, but i'm not yet sure what i like about them, you know? can't wait to hear them live for myself, though -- they are going to be great to jump around to. :)
I haven't listened to the songs properly yet (only 2 so far), had a really busy weekend and week so far and I think they need more than one listen.
Live recordings make it very hard for me to hear the actual song so at the moment I'm not sure
They sound very hard rock which I like, and the guitar sounds great, the Disco one has a very catchy tune, but buggered if I know what words he's actually singing! lol

I think they sound like crap! No, i'm not being hateful. I'm being honest.
I don't like the new songs at all. To me it sounds too generic and not like MCR at all. I don't want to dance to MCR records. There's enough party music out there already.

Have you ever had one of those days when you're just going along doing
what you're supposed to do and something out of the blue just smack
you? Not literally of course but something happens that just hits you
hard and for a minute you're stunned. It happened to me today and well
I guess I should have seen it coming. Today I went to the high school
to enroll Stormy. I walked in, got the papers I had to fill out and
sat down. All of a suddenly it hit me - this was the last time I'd be
in this school to enroll any of the kids. You'd think that would be a
good thing cause let me tell you it's pretty damn expensive anymore.
But it wasn't. I just sat there feeling so sad and blinking back tears
thinking to myself "crap, don't do this." So after taking a few deep
breaths I got the papers filled out. Then I had to stand in line
waiting to pay. God, it seemed to take forever. And yeah, when I got
back to the car I cried. I didn't care if it was stupid or not, I just
did it. I let myself feel bad that since she's not in band this year
there will be no reason to go to the football games. Yeah, that was
really the reason I went to them. Still they are a good memory. Cold,
autumn nights, freezing metal bleachers, watching the band take
the field... Well that's over. Hell she's only going to be at the high
school for a few hours each day. In the afternoon she heads to college
classes at the community college. More than likely I won't set foot in
the high school until her graduation. And that thought just brought
another round of tears. Shit, this whole time flying by thing sucks.
It really does. But that's just how life goes. Each day more and more
things change. Each day my kids move a step further away. It’s one of
those things you know is coming, you think you're prepared but when it
happens...well it's still hard.
I hope your day was filled with happiness. Hope it was filled with
events that will one day turn into good memories. Take care

once again, i've spent the evening laboring away in the google salt mines. *heh*
it's those composition books of mine...now that i have them, i've got some work to do! i really do feel like i'm getting some things done, even though they may just be baby steps.
but the best moment of today wasn't the research, it was this morning when i bought my ticket to the drive by show next month. (it's funny, but the thought that i'm going to see a show at maxwell's is almost as exciting as getting to see a favorite band again!)
back when i made the decision to return to kentucky, i knew that among the things i was giving up was going to shows. there are other priorities for my money right now, but from the beginning i allowed myself two exceptions to the concert fast: mcr and drive by.
hey, some priorities are just always going to be at the top of the list. *grin*
and i'll get to see the two friends i made in philadelphia last year, the woman who made sure i got to madison sq. garden, and the woman who gave me a couch to sleep on while i was there.
this is going to be great!
and it made the day go by very fast...and amused my boss with my occasional giddiness.
not a bad day's work.

Texas Flour Tortillas (adapted from The Border Cookbook by Cheryl Alters Jamison and Bill Jamison)
Ingredients:
Two cups of all-purpose flour (can make them whole wheat by substituting one cup of whole-wheat flour for white flour)
1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of vegetable oil
3/4 cups of warm milk
(or
3/4 cup of warm water for lower fat)
Method:
Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt and oil.
Slowly add the warm milk.
Stir until a loose, sticky ball is formed.
Knead for two minutes on a floured surface. Dough should be firm and soft.
Place dough in a bowl and cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap for 20 minutes.
After the dough has rested, break off eight sections, roll them into balls in your hands, place on a plate (make sure they aren’t touching) and then cover balls with damp cloth or plastic wrap for 10 minutes. (It’s very important to let the dough rest, otherwise it will be like elastic and won’t roll out to a proper thickness and shape.)
After dough has rested, one at a time place a dough ball on a floured surface, pat it out into a four-inch circle, and then roll with a rolling pin from the center until it’s thin and about eight inches in diameter. (If you roll out pie crusts you’ll have no problem with this.) Don’t over work the dough, or it’ll be stiff. Keep rolled-out tortillas covered until ready to cook.
In a dry iron skillet or comal heated on high, cook the tortilla about thirty seconds on each side. It should start to puff a bit when it’s done.
Keep cooked tortillas covered wrapped in a napkin until ready to eat.
Can be reheated in a dry iron skillet, over your gas-burner flame or in the oven wrapped in foil.
While you probably won’t have any leftovers, you can store in the fridge tightly wrapped in foil or plastic for a day or so.
Makes eight tortillas.

To the anon who asked about ONTD, there is a spinoff ONTD community just for KOL called ontd_kol. Membership is moderated, but they might let you in if they don't think you're either a) a troll or b) a new fan (i.e., someone who is there for Sex on Fire). Yes, I agree there's some elitism going on there and I don't like it, which is one of the reasons I don't belong to the community anymore. I still have friends who belong, and they keep me in the loop with any links, news, etc. that are posted there, although I usually find out about them first, anyway.
There are other sites that are better, but I don't have time to post the links now. Maybe later. I also do plan to get a KOL blog up soon so other people don't have to work quite so hard for KOL goodies.

How are you all? Well, good and in a RUSH (mood), I hope!
Rush anon: I love the lyrics and music too. I know the music doesn't appeal to a lot of young people; but, perhaps if they read the lyrics they would be willing to give the music the chance it deserves.
Rush was unique band with a distinctive sound from the beginning. Some have said they were ahead of their time. I think they created a time just for themselves.
A time in music that will never grow old or feel outdated.

I had never heard that song. I loved it!!!! Speaking (or typing, as I was) about unique bands with distinctive sounds ~ KOL is another of those bands! As is HIM (in my opinion)! Which is one reason I love them so much too.
I'm loving Caleb's gorgeous new red and black guitar (even though it may not actually be new for him). I'm sure he misses his beloved Gibson; but, I'm also sure in time he will come to love to this new just as much. And, did I mention how much I love that pink shirt??? Well, I do! I'm not certain it was, actually, pink... but, it sure does appear to be pink in color.

Hi everyone.
I've been an observer of this blog (don't wanna say lurker, because lurkers just sit and look, I've been observant), for a very long while, and I just wanted to step out of that for a while, maybe longer. Who knows?
I've seen it start out as a place where people bitched and argued about who Mayo is, SS, even, and slowly turn into more of a community for those who stuck around. It's turned into a place (forgiving a few nasty anons along the way), where people don't give a crap who the blogger is anymore, they care beyond who it could be, and over time I've found myself feeling the same way. I hope you guys can accept me into the fold somewhat. I appreciate this guy just like you, I only kind of wish I'd 'come out' sooner.
Mayo: I don't know what your intention was in creating this, but it's become a place where people come to communicate, not only with you but with each other. You've created a link between many people who wouldn't have otherwise known each other, and done a good job keeping them together with each installment you write. I hope you will continue for a long time to come. And thank you.
Anons: Why are you still bitching? After all this time I honestly don't get why you can't just leave people alone and find something else to do. Are your lives really that empty? I'm sorry if they are, honestly, but trying hurt other people isn't going to 'help' you now, is it?
