At the Home

I hate to see you
When you're falling apart
Can't you start over, again?

Elizabeth crumbles
Alone in her chair
Keeps her windows shut
To keep out the air

Elizabeth crumbles
Alone in her bed
Spends all her pastime
Mulled in her dread

What keeps her living
Is her fear of being
Anywhere other than here
So they’ll feed her too much
Or it’s never enough,
Then it's fuck you
“Get the hell out of here!"

Elizabeth stumbles
Over everything I've said
Pining words are useless
Pushed round in her head

The mystery was my bravery
I never knew what I'd get
Will it be her fear or regret?
Her confusion my denial?
Walked her shoes a while
Now she can’t turn back
So she said then she’ll stay
And I will walk away

Elizabeth mumbles
Over and over my name
Forgetting tomorrow
Will never be the same

She’s repeating her beating
Did you bring her a drink?
Why are you leaving?
What the hell do you think?
That she’ll fuck you
To get the hell out of here

Elizabeth tumbles
Out onto the floor
With an abandon of reason
It is herself abhorred

She sat alone in her room
Pouring over her gloom
Never got out of her chair
And they don't even care
Now that they’ve all receded
Into the ground or fleeted
To the wormholes
And woodwork back there

You'll find repair
Where that memory
Becomes illusory

Look, again?

p.s. in the end it is what you think you will get.

Alright 1:02, I appreciate the thought there. But I didn't really see the need for it at the moment?

Everyone has their reasons, for whatever they may say or do. And everyone else they encounter is going have their own reasoning (and theories) as well. And considering how intensely felt some of that is, I don't think any of us will ever fully understand the WHY of some encounters. I believe there is a lot going on inside of people and much of what comes out, or is directed at others (on Either side of a situation) may sometimes have little to do with what appears to be obvious. Maybe it is not our place to understand.

But the real point is, things appear to be going along quietly, smoothly, a little more friendly of late and (despite my crabby jab, I apologize to you) I don't think speculation of past wrongs helps keep the peace around here much. But again, I appreciate that you were trying to better understand some here. And I hope you and your mom are doing well.

Saintly, I owe you an email. Sorry for the lack there of, shit is -well shit! But I will drop you a line when I can loves.

And yes 1:15, Ergo does know 'everything.' Which is why so many of us seek her out when something is troubling us. I am sure she would even help you out, if you ever needed someone to talk too.

I'm going fuckin insane trying to find the translation of that. Mostly because I am curious and avoiding other responsibilites, but that poet does sound rather interesting too. If you by chance want a link to a very creepy spoken (not in English either!) poem of his, I'll drop that for you. ;p

I am off guys, be well. Love to you all<33

I saw the programme before I got cd and loved these songs instantly.

When I first listened to cd I was not too sure but by 3rd listen am totally hooked.

They really are an exceptional band.

Happy listening, hey hey hey!

Hmm, well I suppose I have figured it out, for now anyway.

There is a dead bee in my windowsill. It is standing on its head, its wings splayed. Beside it, a moth flutters considering its own demise, I suppose.

What does it mean?

For the longest time I was fascinated with death, then it was life, now it is the cycle. The process that produces an aggregate of all that there has ever been, and will ever be, here.

It never really ends, does it? Even after it is gone, it is durable.

And, I am some of the fuel that keeps it in motion.

Mayo what about the anon who said that you and Kap used to understand each other and it was "beautiful"?

I just had to laugh when I read that! LOL!! You know it was either her or her little friends trying to get attention back on them.

Try and try and try.... They never give up!!

Maybe if you like to see two lesbians talking to each other it was "beautiful", LOL, Please.

The truth about the blog? SRSLY??

When you have 50+ women in one place at relatively the same time, the differentiation in individual's menstrual cycles will cause strife. The 'day crew's' cycles are tied to the new moon, while the 'night crew's' cycles are linked with the full moon. And everyone has two eyes here.

Why not? It's no more ridiculous than any of the other theories!!
^______^

Mayo, dude, I'm thinking that your life would be a helluva lot easier if you were a misogynist. Just sayin'. =D

Hi & bye to everyone! ♥

5:16, I have it on good, shall we say authority that Mayo is in fact a MAN.

And the idea that he would share something "beautiful" with Kap is laughable!!! Give me a break!

Well, personally 5:23 if we are running with the "crew" bull, and I am considered 'night' -I'll tell you I didn't sleep wednesday night, worked all day thursday, came home around 9pm, went to bed right then, slept till about 6am this morning and never once did I get to touch a computer... All of which, is why I can't seem to stop touching my computer now. But, we are what we are -aren't we? ;p

And 4:47, I see you there. And I think dear, it means it would be best if you opened your window. A little fresh air yea? You kinda scare me a bit. Very beautifully spoken, but so sad. Why? And I don't see how one person, no matter who they are or aren't, can take the blame for the actions of others. (If I am understanding you correctly.) If people want to keep on in a particular path, then they simply will. It is their choice. Sometimes it helps to voice your thoughts, let people know how you feel, that you care -even about the outcome, and sometimes it just makes it worse. But shouldering the blame, for other people's actions, (life, death) no one can take that. No one has the right too. Please let the moth out? Save it? Hope you feel better anon. <3 (and please excuse me if offended you. Not my intention. I just wanted to say something to you.)

However SISTER MIDNIGHT, I am deeply offened by your assumption. I only have one eye.

I'm a cyclops.

This is not a shot at anyone, but couldn't resist delving into the subject a little deeper.Truth is I know a lot of people like this. YIKES!!!

Anonymous said...

Hmm, that sounds a lot like Wendy TTYTT.

"# Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

# Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

# Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval
produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others."

It's like she has no impulse control.

Anonymous said...

"Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. "

That too.

Anonymous said...

So is she google anon? I wish someone would tell us one way or the other. I'm so curious. I admit it.

Anonymous said...

Alright that was not a shot at Wendy, I believe we all have some of these traits.
I would have to believe that it is to what extent that would make you a true sociopath or psychopath.
She may have a few things she needs to iron out, but I think she will be just fine.
Its easy to sit and take shots at people that have rubbed you the wrong way.

Anonymous said...

Sometimes it is bigger to turn a blind eye to others questionable behavior, and let them work things out for themselves.
As long as they are not dangerous mind you.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't say she rubbed me the wrong way personally. I might feel a little harsher to her if she had said some of the same things to me she said to others.

But since she didn't I just feel a little sorry for her and I hope she does iron it out.

But it looks like she really doesn't have much impulse control.

And a lot of out of control anger that she seems to target at one person.

Anonymous said...

Since you seem to have her figured out 8:29, perhaps you would like to share with the class what you know. I am of course, assuming you are aware of everything that goes on here, behind the words, etc. I am further assuming you are close to everyone involved, including said subject and "targets". Everyone here, I am sure, can benifit from your insight and wisdom.

Please, continue.

Mayo, how are ya doing today, homeslice? Do you have nice weather where you are? To some people that might be "small talk," but I promise you, to me the weather is anything but small. I love weather and make a huge deal of it. So, I hope you are having some sweet spring weather.

Here is a picture of one of my flowers. It's either a forget-me-not or a bachelor's button. I can't remember. Which would be really ironic if it was indeed a forget-me-not.

S(S)S, and how are you, my friend? I hope you also are having some lovely spring weather and taking it all it. I don't know about you, but up here on the Island there is more pollen than you could shake a, effing stick at. Everything is covered in fine, green dust. My eyes are just about to jump on up out of my damn head. Do you have allergies? Let me tell you, it sucks. And isn't pollen how plants and trees do it? So when you come down to it, it's like you're breathing plant sperm. Ugh! I wish I'd never thought of it that way.

Here is my baby robin. His nest-mate didn't make it; he was all dehydrated, starved and really weak. I hope this one does make it. I also have three starlings. ^_^

You know what I'm thinking? Of course you don't! What I'm thinking is that ten years ago roundabouts this time of year, Star Wars came out. I have been wondering why it's been on my mind so much and how I have the urge to watch that Phantom Menace thing. I guess that's why. :) I saw it so many times in the movie theater when it first came out. The first time I saw it was about a week after my Grandfather died. Jeremy and my friend Rachel went with me to see it. And even though we didn't think it was that great, we all went to the convenience store next to the movie theater and bought two-dollar lightsabers before going home. Then we played Jedi in the parking lot. That afternoon before the movie, Jeremy and I went to the store to buy paper plates, napkins, cups and ice for Grampa's memorial. I remember that exactly because I still have the grocery list in the pocket of the jacket I was wearing. (A black courderoy Bugs Bunny jacket. It was chilly that day.)

After Grampa's memorial, SB and Jo-chan stayed over with me. SB was ten and Jo-chan was six. That night, we pulled out the bed from my sofa, and we all sat down to watch the first Star Wars, with popcorn and stuff like that. Jo-chan hated the part where Palpatine torments Luke with Force-lightning; SB and I explained to her about special effects, and how he wasn't really getting hurt. I have pictures of the lightsaber duels I had with SB the next day in the yard. (I was wearing this huge, black straw hat; the same one I was wearing today while minding the Boychild outdoors.)

SB is twenty now, and Jo-chan is sixteen. Just the other day I went to see her in her school chorus program. She is so beautiful. She surprised me by totally looking like Gillian Anderson with her new haircut. WTF?

Those ten years flew by. Flew. In a blink.

So like I mentioned, today I was helping to mind the Boychild and we gave my dogs a bath (and Grandma's dog, Belle.) I got some pics of that, too.

I wonder what it'll be like in ten years, when he is twelve, Jo-chan is twenty six, SB is thirty. Who will still be with me? Who will be gone? (NO ONE, I hope.) Who will be new to me?

"Regardless of warnings, the future doesn't scare me at all!"

Well, sometimes it does. ;)

Anyway you guys, I hope you are having a terrific spring, and try not to breathe too much plant sperm.

Don't fuel the fire.

The process that produces an aggregate of all that there has ever been, and will ever be, here.

That's how I felt in chemistry class, Mayo. You can take everything apart and this can either freak you out, make you feel hopeless, or you can embrace it because it really is so zen. Where do you end, and where does "stuff" begin?

It never really ends, does it? Even after it is gone, it is durable.

Yeah, now isn't that the law of energy and mass conservation? Nothing ever goes away; it only ever changes form. Now whether or not consciousness continues after it or not, well, that's where I get stuck. Or do those edges just fade?

And, I am some of the fuel that keeps it in motion.

Do you keep the edges though, Mayo? That's what I want to know.

Which of course, no one can answer.

Also, apparently we are lesbians. Mayo, stop being such a huge lesbian, okay? People are getting upset.

I hope they get the computers up again soon, but at least she is wanting you back if she can.

you having a nice spring there?
had to tell you too, I straightened out and had a read through the newspaper you packed in the box, it was interesting to see news from somewhere else, but notice how similar so many stories are

thought you might be curious about the local newspaper, ergo, that's why i packed the box with it! back when i was in high school, i always used to look at the english papers in the things i'd get from my u.k. penpal. it's interesting. :)

our spring has been nice, and i think it's actually done! temps have been in the 80's (about 26 C) and muggy, too. it's a lot different than it was in seattle!

you seem to be having lots of snakes encounters lately -- is this the season that they are more active, or do they just like you?

ergoproxy said...

they are usually quite dormant as it gets colder but they seek out sun, which means clearer areas, which means our yard!
I don't mind if the harmless ones like me, we had a tree snake climb up the front screen door last weekend, and have the carpet python etc, but Brown snakes are deadly so you just can't take risks when they are near the house.
It was one of the biggest I have seen in a long time.

Just a quick pop in and out for me tonight.

The concert was wonderful. Amberlin blew me away. So good! Same goes for Alkaline Trio. After those groups played Flighty and I wandered around to the side of the stage and saw Adam and Bert. Got some great photos. Then Adam left and Bert was still there, right by us, so Flighty decided to call him over to get a better pic. I was standing behind a banner and she says “Bert my mom really likes you.” (yeah, thanks Flighty). So I peer around the banner, Bert sees me then precedes to uh…how should I say this? He made some rather suggestive moves. Quite a little show. Flighty looked over at me horrified. I just laughed and said “Well thanks Bert”. He gave me that shit ass grin and nodded. It was so fucking funny.

Taking Back Sunday and the Used were both excellent. It was the first time I’ve ever seen them in concert and I was impressed. So much energy and the crowed loved them.

A very good time was had by all!!! Now I’m off to chat with Flighty since she’s spending the night.

Hope everyone is well. Take care everyone.

snakes don't bother me much, either (though i haven't had much contact with poisonous ones!)

one of my classmates back in school was extremely paranoid of snakes -- there was a western outfitters store downtown, and their window display had the usual assortment of current clothes, tack, miscellaneous gear, but also some "western" themed decorations...including a stuffed rattlesnake, posed with head raised, body in a coil.

i always had to walk between her and the window. if she caught sight of it, she'd jump and squeal. lol

toujours said...

that's funny, elena, and a great response from you! i probably would've been either laughing or sharing flighty's horrified look.

good to hear you had a great time!

ergoproxy said...

oh your poor friend, I know people terrified of them too, but they have such a beauty about them, and you can feel when they are looking at you

it's a shame some of the ones around here are so dangerous, a friend was bitten by a Brown last year, he didn't see what bit him, but tests at the hospital showed it was brown snake venom. Fortunately it was what they call a "dry" bite, so he needed no further treatment, but 2 kids died in the last couple of years from Brown snakes.
There is a good antivenine (we had a dog get bitten and he needed it) and you ahve a bit of time, unlike the Taipan, which killed another dog we had in about 5 mins

ergo, i liked both songs you sent me -- they're like two different bands almost. it's neat when a band can explore new territory like that. :)

gotta get to bed now, i didn't even realize how late it had become! i still have to go to work tomorrow.

it's good to chat with you ergo, and to see you again amyranth. good night to you guys, and to elena and lewis as well!

mayo,

i thought that was you when i read it earlier! you always sound a little different from anyone else, it's more than just a matter of grammar and punctuation.

but! i have no time to ponder it now, i'm over the limit on my computer curfew. i have to skedaddle.

tomorrow was going to be a great day, the start of my birthday weekend. and this morning i finally managed to make arrangements with a local artist for the purchase of a triptych of his (we had been playing phone tag for weeks)...now, in light of my altered situation, i suppose i shouldn't follow through with it...

nah.

gotta buy art, gotta support my comrades in the trenches, right?

definitely. *grin*

so tomorrow, i'll come home with some paintings under my arm.

and everything else will work out.

good night, mayo. good to see you.

It's Better To Live

It's better to live, Licinius, neither
always pressing out on the deep nor, trembling
and cautious, hugging overly close to the
dangerous shoreline.

Whosoever cherishes the golden mean
safely avoids the squalor of a hovel
and discreetly keeps away from a palace
that excites envy.

Most often it's the huge pine that is shaken
by the wind, and the highest towers that fall
the greatest fall, and the tops of mountains that
attract the lightning.

Hopeful in adversity, apprehensive
in prosperity is the heart that prepares
well for either fate. Zeus brings the winter, but
also takes it back.

Even if times are bad, they won't always be so:
for Apollo doesn't always tense his bow,
but sometimes inspires the silent Muses.

When the straits are narrow, show yourself to be
undaunted and bold — yet wisely tuck your sails
when they're swelled by too strong a following wind.

thinking on your comment earlier, we are all part of the cycle, life and death, we cannot step aside and watch from afar, we are inextricably tied to it all. We are the result of those who have gone before us, a random halving and recombining ,halving and recombining of DNA that has gone on for centuries in our ancestors down through countless generations until it creates us. Then the environment around us smooths and roughens edges, highlights and hides aspects to create a final piece, but one that is always in flux, always adapting, until we too succumb to the inevitable. But if you are ever fortunate enough to look down into the eyes of a little person, who is half of what made you, and you see aspects of yourself, and those before you, recreated, but in a new and unique way, the "will be", you know the cycle is always worthwhile.
Take care Mayo

well I have been haring some Deep Thoughts this afternoon,(42) you know one of the weirdest moments a woman has,(and I'm sure men have similar) is when you suddenly realise you sound like your mother. My time was when teaching a yr 8 maths class, and said sternly to a girl giving me a sullen glare
"Don't you look at me from under those eyebrows!!"
now 2 thoughts popped into my head in that instant, the first most unnerving was "Oh my god I sound like my mother!" and the other was "and where else can she look at me from!" LOL
Have you had that moment SS?

Mayo,

There is a dead bee in my windowsill. It is standing on its head, its wings splayed. Beside it, a moth flutters considering its own demise, I suppose.

Feeling you here, Mayo.
It's got to be harder for you wanting to pull away from your own blog, and follow the others that have already departed.
As long as there is some fuel there will be fire, but just not as sparky, nor as flaming bright.
Whatever you choose, thank you for sticking with it for so long. Just say when.
*hugs*

4.21pm anon,
I'm with you on the hooked! It took a few listens through, for me too, in full, and I was done for!And thank you for the live performances. They sound so fresh. 21st Century Breakdown has gone straight to number 1 in NZ. =)

4.38pm anon,
You're such a thoughtful, generous person. Thank you so much for taking the time to find and make the links. =)

Gnothi,
Man! - after hearing that song of The Prodigy I hope you're feeling pit fit!! I hope you have a fabulous time.

Elena,
Another concert goer! My concert envy is getting out of control.;) Did TBS play much off their new album? Ha ha at Bert, dirty as hell but you can't take offence can you? He has a naughty charm.

Ergo, He does? tell him to stick with it. It's very rewarding.

Lewis, Good to see you too! And no worries, I was just in and out checking up on the previous page.

Kapunua, your lovely flower looks like what we would call a (soon-to-bloom) cornflower.
That's a lucky little bird to have found it's way to you. I hope it won't be the first of many.

Oh, and SS, since you don't have a home with comments, and in case you are drifting away too, thanks for hanging for so long. Who ever you are you've been fun, bad, thoughtful, and entertaining.
And with that many creatures you're still interested in, I'll be looking forward to 'SS's Fucking Happy Animal Farm's' grand opening, when you retire.

Good night/ good morning all.

Sorry, sweetie@7.49am.
I had to pop out for a while.

It is a cleverly done video, with the soldiers fading out from the dance floor, many never to return, and then the very grief ridden moment at the end.
Some viewers may empathise deeply, and others may transpose their own emotions on how they would react to the loss of one of their own siblings.
It certainly can pull on the heart strings.

This may put a smile on your face. We have an advertisement in our Top40! Coming to a music chart near you, too. =)

I hope your weekend improves.

I'm not SS, but this made me smile like crazy. Frogs, bunnies, geese, squirrels...with SS taking people on the 10 cent tour. There should be a sign out front with 'SS's Fucking Happy Animal Farm's' and pics of the smiling, waving residents!

Mine My Darkness

Mine that creeps from below and above.
From the Walls of Gorgan
Sounds a dark musical score
A voice from the shadows
preaching lies and more.

You invade the darkness from whence I sleep
To lead me astray to the slaughter of sheep
Eyes of fire and putrid smell
Burnt red wings from the fires of Hell.

Confusing the lines
between wrong and right
You came through the door
as an angel of light.
The Magician a trickster
The Black Web you spin
The venomous spew of Hate, Death and sin.

You invade the darkness from whence I sleep
To lead me astray to the slaughter of sheep
Eyes of fire and putrid smell
Burnt red wings from the fires of Hell.

Invaded by darkness
my days are forlorn
Body and soul
separated and torn.
ancient board of letters
a warning ignored
a foothold gained
The open Door

I finally got a chance to read over your words. And of course they got me to thinking. When I was young death fascinated me much to the horror of my parents. They I'm sure blamed my choice of reading material. I did choose such morbid, death filled things to read. Death never scared me. That changed when my first daughter was born. Suddenly I was not fascinated by death, it scared the crap out of me. Not that I was afraid death would claim me but I was terrified it would take the life I'd created. To me death became a terrible monster waiting to take life away. I suppose this happens to many new mothers.

I have to be honest I still fear death. I know it's a part of life yet it is a part that I try to ignore. I've become less weirded out by it now that the girls are older. Maybe it's just that I'm older and I understand there is no avoiding it. It will come, it will claim, it is inevitable. I guess it the whole "circle of life" thing. But I kinow that when I'm gone my children, the life I created, will go on. What we create in this life touchs other life. Our mark is left.

M. Naise:

The only thing that caught me about 447 was the bee. We have queens flying around our yard, looking for flowers for food and I have none. They hum their disappointment past as they head in search of greener fields and nesting spots.

Did you know that when winter comes, all the female worker bees nestle around the queen to keep her warm and alive throughout the winter? The outer layers never survive, but it is a choice they make for themselves, and that takes a certain level of bravery.

Bees exemplify the life/death cycle more than any creature on this planet. Suffering, sacrifice, all for the sake of the hive, and the perpetuation of the species.

Moths, however, scare the fuck right out of me.

Epitaph for a Bee

A blade of grass bends under
a bee's last landing
Wings beat one more useful beat
and the sky is exactly one bee
emptier
Its legs touch the grass as
it wonders why pollination
was so important as to be its
life's work
the wings beat another thousand times
as the bee tries to
foil destiny
and fly away on air that can no longer hold it

The legs
touched as many flowers
as there are facets
in the bee's dying eyes
but cannot bend as much as they
once could
One thousand wingbeats more
compressed into a half-second
as if fending off the persistent fingers
of fate

Faded yellow and black alternate
flash defiantly
against the end that
must come
as it remembers spreading
this very field with color

The flowers of the field bend
toward the sunlight
ignoring the contribution of countless
winged messengers
who make flowers and fruit possible

one nears death in their midst,
one thousand whispers,
and the field's buzz diminishes

Mayo, I was being obtuse yesterday as I often can be when confronted with something that interests me (or in this case, obsesses me.) It never occurred to me until someone else (offblog) pointed out how your words could--as always--be construed two different ways. You have that clever way of dichotomizing almost everything you write. ("Dichotomizing." I don't find that word in the dictionary so maybe I made it up. It sounds dirty.)

Anyway, if you were referring to the blog (and I realize there are two "cycles" and yeah, perhaps one of us is pretty much dead,) then I can see that aspect of your words now, too.

Most everyone I talk to has the same opinion about what's happened to this blog overall. It's hard to be here. Nothing is sacred. Yet most everyone I know agrees that we all enjoy your words.

As far as you fueling this ongoing cycle, please remind yourself that there's a difference between being responsible for something and being at fault for something.

Were I in your place, Mayo, I admit I wouldn't know what to do, but I do know that I would have wanted, really absolutely wanted to shut the blog down long ago. Whether I would have or not in your place is a different story. Could it be you feel some responsibility towards the people who still see this as a "safe" place? (Which for them I guess it is?) I've always felt that this was a lot that was on your shoulders.

I think that I would understand either way; no matter what you eventually decided.

But Mayo, if you should ever end this blog, I would so want to know who you are, why you began, and what you really thought. ^_^

Also, no matter what you did I would always be fond of you. I'd hope that we could still be two huge lesbians together. ;)

And on that note, I'm outta here! ^_^

Anonymous said...

It's always about how YOU feel, isn't it?

The first thing a newly emerged Queen bee will do is kill her rival Queens, emerged or not. Once that is done, she is ready to mate.

After mating with the Queen, the drones' penises and lower abdomens are ripped out and they die.

Interesting, huh?

Anonymous said...

I think Kap is the "Queen Bee" out of all the "little bees".... orange or not.

Anonymous said...

...but who was it that brought up the Queen Bee? I think that person would like to think of herself as the "Queen".

The only problem is that the people here are not bees and they don't need a Queen.

Extracts from the Prophet by Khalil (Kahlil) Gibran:

On Pleasure

Then a hermit, who visited the city once a year, came forth and said, "Speak to us of Pleasure."

And he answered, saying:

Pleasure is a freedom song,
But it is not freedom.
It is the blossoming of your desires,
But it is not their fruit.
It is the depth calling unto a height,
But it is not the deep nor the high.
It is the caged taking wing,
But it is not space encompassed.
Ay, in very truth, pleasure is a freedom-song.
And I fain would have you sing it with fullness of heart; yet I would not have you lose your hearts in the singing.
Some of your youth seek pleasure as if it were all, and they are judged and rebuked.
I would not judge nor rebuke them. I would have them seek.
For they shall find pleasure, but not her alone:
Seven are her sisters, and the least of them is more beautiful than pleasure.
Have you not heard of the man who was digging in the earth for roots and found a treasure?
And some of your elders remember pleasures with regret like wrongs committed in drunkenness.
But regret is the beclouding of the mind and not its chastisement.
They should remember their pleasures with gratitude, as they would the harvest of a summer.
Yet if it comforts them to regret, let them be comforted.
And there are among you those who are neither young to seek nor old to remember;
And in their fear of seeking and remembering they shun all pleasures, lest they neglect the spirit or offend against it.
But even in their foregoing is their pleasure.
And thus they too find a treasure though they dig for roots with quivering hands.
But tell me, who is he that can offend the spirit?
Shall the nightingale offend the stillness of the night, or the firefly the stars?
And shall your flame or your smoke burden the wind?
Think you the spirit is a still pool which you can trouble with a staff?
Oftentimes in denying yourself pleasure you do but store the desire in the recesses of your being.
Who knows but that which seems omitted today, waits for tomorrow?
Even your body knows its heritage and its rightful need and will not be deceived. And your body is the harp of your soul,
And it is yours to bring forth sweet music from it or confused sounds.
And now you ask in your heart, "How shall we distinguish that which is good in pleasure from that which is not good?"
Go to your fields and your gardens, and you shall learn that it is the pleasure of the bee to gather honey of the flower,
But it is also the pleasure of the flower to yield its honey to the bee.
For to the bee a flower is a fountain of life,
And to the flower a bee is a messenger of love,
And to both, bee and flower, the giving and the receiving of pleasure is a need and an ecstasy.
People of Orphalese, be in your pleasures like the flowers and the bees.

HI!

I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend. :)

Been busy with lots of dramatic events in my life, and find my present refrain is "it is what it is" then I read Lambert said that too.

Its ok.

:)

Mayo - Are you leaving? I hope not. I would miss stopping in here and reading your words and others' words as well, including the poetry :D But as they said above, it is your space. Do as you will.

Also, it was funny that the anon I spoke with last mentioned that I bill myself as a 'good' person or whatever - and I said I am human like all others, but then in 'real' life I had many issues arise where I WAS too kind to people - or so everyone tells me (incl. strangers!!!!) So maybe I am that nice - and apparently its not a good thing. I think I disagree, but I'll have to cogitate more on the concept. Everyone else looks after number 1 apparently.

It is what it is.

& (not least!) Thank you.

Don't have time to catch up - too much to do.

HAVE A GREAT ONE, EVERYBODY!!

PS - Must see who is playing at the DEMF...

elena said...

Perhaps it’s just that I seem to look at things differently than most. That becomes very apparent here more than anywhere else. So that said, I just want to say that for some reason I didn’t take Mayo’s words to mean he was leaving this place. In a way it’s kinda funny I didn’t. For so long I’d worry every time he’d say something that in some way could be construed as a goodbye note. I think I did this because I was terrified he would leave. Without going into my feelings about how much this place means to me again I’m sure that’s why I took things that way. I felt afraid this would end and I didn’t even want to consider that it could. So why then did I totally miss the possibility that this was meant to be a possible beginning of the end comment? I have to admit I was shocked when others saw it this way. I just didn’t at all. Mayo has always shared random thoughts with us. What makes this comment any different? Maybe I’m just not on the same wave length as everyone else. I have problems comprehending what isn’t in black and white. Maybe my own frame of mind at the moment has something to do with it. I’m tired mentally.

So I guess what this comment is trying to say is this…Mayo, I won’t lie, I very rarely understand you. Lord knows I try but I fail. If this comment was about the life of the blog I don’t need to tell you again what it means to me. You know. And I hope you also know what your happiness means to me. I’ve wished you happiness so many times I’ve lost count. But each time I do the words come from the heart.

Yes, great friedships have come from this place. And I do suppose we could keep in contact, matter of fact I'm sure we would. However this place is where we met, it is where it all started. That makes it special. And yes, Mayo popping in now and then is a part of it. Part of the magic, I suppose.

As for knowing Mayo...true I've never met him in the "real" world but still we do sorta know him. He's shared a part of himself with us that perhaps others in his real life haven't seen.

If mayo is ready to walk away from this blog i think we should let him go.

If this place causes him more pain than joy, if he dislikes being here more than he likes it then maybe it is time for him to walk away. He's the only one who can make that decision.

The bonds made here are made. Nothing can take that away. If this building isn't standing here tomorrow we will still have our memories and those bonds.

Mayo will know he's a part of that. More than a part.

Sorry anon but even if I could put into words why I love this place I highly doubt you'd understand.

Okay let me say this. I come here on good days to chat with friends. I come here on bad days not to talk but just to feel I'm not alone.

So am I sounding pathetic enough yet?

As for the bad that happens here all I can say is look around. There is bad all around us. This place may be make-believe in some ways but in other ways it's just as real as the "real" world.

And as in the "real" world you have to decide how to handle the bad. You let it take over or you keep it from taking over.

I still see the beauty of this place. I can see it through the dust and dirt.

How about now? Am I pathetic enough now? Believe me I could go on.

elena, i have been here since the beginning and one thing i will say is that you have a bad habit of framing yourself negatively.

i don't think you are pathetic, i reserve that for the cruelty that abounds here.

i just think we think differently.

You see things they don't Elena. Don't let them bother you or make you feel bad about it. You don't have to explain your feelings to anyone. You don't owe them anything.

Neither does Mayo for that matter.

Okay so now you know who I value right?

That because you're in my head? You in my heart as well?

yeah, well I'm not gonna play with ya. I'm not in the mood and so I leave. Have a lovely evening.

unlike you 7:40, i like explanations. she may not owe me anything but i like to read her thoughts, as i like her. so stop assuming things.

elena said...

Thank you Ergo

You know how much you mean to me. I'll talk to you later.

Anonymous said...

Assuming? I don't think I'm assuming anything. It's clear to me that you are making her upset. Her exit should make it clear to you if it wasn't clear before.

Bye Elena and EP.

Anonymous said...

yes you are assuming, i was not 7:27.

Yes, great friedships have come from this place. And I do suppose we could keep in contact, matter of fact I'm sure we would. However this place is where we met, it is where it all started. That makes it special. And yes, Mayo popping in now and then is a part of it. Part of the magic, I suppose.

Mayo, The Magician!

Now, for his next trick, can he make this blog disappear?

Anonymous said...

You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive

Anonymous said...

it's over.

it needs to end.

Anonymous said...

If that's how Mayo feels then it does need to end.

Anonymous said...

Let Mayo decide that. It is his blog. I see many people here who would love to see this blog continue, and I see a few nameless who believe they should have the right to speak for him.

I may not always have agreed with him, but I think he should be the one to decide the fate of this blog, be it now or in the future. There are many who still read, who do still enjoy this place, but are not always known. I know I would miss it if Mayo left for good.

You cannot look for the negative all the time. Look back. Yes, there are many bad moments, and they tend to be the topic over and over, standing out and overshadowing the good. There has been far more good moments and continue to be.

Ultimately, it belongs to Mayo. Let him be, and just enjoy it for what it is, and for as long as it last. Overlook the negative, and be a part of the positive. Don't give in to cruel taunts and words. You may find a different place through those eyes.

And for the record, I didn't read the demise of the blog from his comment. I saw something different, an appreciation for the cycle of life, an understanding.

Maybe that's just me.

Anonymous said...

But, on the other hand, Mayo should not be guilted into keeping this place open just because a few people have become dependent on it.

Anonymous said...

i still don't agree with you pollyanna at 8:34.

it's done.

8:34 said...

I do not believe you could guilt Mayo into keeping it open for that reason. First, I don't believe anyone here is dependent in that sense of the word. They enjoy it. Second, Mayo is not the type to be guilted. In fact, I strongly suspect he would do the opposite to prove the point.

Overlook the negative? I don't know how that's possible when even song lyrics, poetry, and quotes couldn't simply be overlooked.

Anonymous said...

and by keeping it open, it reinforces the dependency.

he has the option of making it private for himself.

8:34 said...

"pollyanna"

Interesting. I don't believe I've even been called that before.

I'm far from it.

Anonymous said...

There are many options for Mayo: close it down completely, make it private, make it invite only, turn off the comments, turn off anon comments, or create a whole new blog full of magic!!

Anonymous said...

they enjoy it? oh yes, so much so that they almost need it. read between the lines 8:42.

8:34 said...

8:22, 8:40 and 8:43

What is your intrest in this, personally? Not about anyone else here, or Mayo, you personally, for you seem to have very strong feelings.

I'm curious.

Anonymous said...

why so curious?

8:34 said...

Anyone with a reaction that strong must have a story behind the emotions.

Anonymous said...

not really, i just don't sit on fences.

some people just are opinionated.

8:34 said...

Opinionated, maybe, but to state your wish for a place to disappear that does not apparently concern you is not just opinion. There must be more to it than that. It seems to concern you a great deal, and in a negative way.

Anonymous said...

believe what you like 8:34.

my opinions shouldn't concern you.

and speaking of negativity, i think there has been enough of it here.

8:34 said...

I do believe what I like. I was curious as to why you had such strong feelings, as you were curious as to why some choose to comment here. Their opinions should not concern you as well.

I do agree, there has been far too much negativity here.

8:34 said...

Goodnight to all.

Anonymous said...

8:34, you agree about the negativity, yet you are prepared to condone it.

Anonymous said...

Wha?

Anonymous said...

if he's concerned about the feelings of certain bloggers he can make this "invite only" and have his select group of people.

and no more boring anon comments...

Anonymous said...

Anons are some of the most interesting people here. Except for the abusive ones who and keep digging up and picking at the bones of that dead horse.

Anonymous said...

The only thing Mayo needs to do is what he feels is right for him.

Anonymous said...

the great omnipotent mayo, can come in, make mysterious comments and suddenly command attention.

Anonymous said...

I know what you are doing.

So do many here.

Stop.

Anonymous said...

but, he's not really after attention, no siry he's just here to enlighten you with his profound thoughts on nothing.
