Chiral

That is not me
Through the mirror
From which I see
Spouting lies
And histories
None that matter
Not to me.

In reverie
I am fabled
Often wickedly
Sprouting eyes
like mysteries
A ghost blown curtain
Through which you see.

And it cycles
Its cycles.

I do not know why.

What I saw was a bunch of good friends having fun together. Believe me, I think the blog has been just fine without certain people here.

Now why would anyone go and say that it was sad?

Believe me honey, we're just fine without you and your friends.

11:50 I agree. I say a lot of people sharing conversation and being friends. It want sad or deserted as some might say. I guess that mean that the blog is doing fine without them.

Anon please what. She had her say now we are having ours.

Hey TJ, I'll try to be here, but I make no guarantees. The cleaning's catching up with me!

Beautiful cake, Amy, and you just now made it, just like that? Wow! I'm going to appoint you as my official cake bakerette!

Anons, we don't mind your being here, but at least respect Carrie, it's her birthday.

Maybe Carrie miss the poem saying the castle was sad and desserted. That's the only reason I can think she would tell us to shut stop talking. Otherwise that's now very fair, is it?

Carrie said...

Whatever, night, thanks for letting my birthday end on a sour note. You have fun with that.

Hey there J, how are you doing?

No ond disrespected Carrie.

I am not the one who said anything about Carrie. Carrie, I personally hope you are having a good birthday. I just resent the poem implying that the castle is dead. Obviously it is alive and well.

Original Punk J said...

Goodnight Carrie, I hope the rest of your birthday was alright.

Goodnight Carrie. Goodnight Amy, I think my team just defeated your team :D

Anonymous said...

Carrie isn't on the inside. She didn't know she wasn't supposed to argue with trash talking anons.

Original Punk J said...

Goodnight Amy, hopefully I'll catch you some other time.

Well, BC, it's just you and me for a while. I know Ergo and TJ said they'd be back. What's happening in your world? Did you have any finals today?

Carrie said...

Now it's not my birthday anymore and I came back after I said I was leaving, so feel free to blast me. I just feel that the anon was trying to blame K in some way, or imply it was her saying something, which I totally don't think so, but that's neither here nor there. Truth is, K, and the sisters, and Amy too, for that matter, helped me through the two most harsh weeks of my life, and they didn't do it on this blog, they weren't trying to garner "attention," this was just private emailing amongst ourselves. There was no "agenda," it was just people who evidently care enough about me to spend the time typing some words out on a keyboard. And when I stick my head in here for a few minutes and it looks like petty fights are starting all up again, yeah, I admit it, it chaps my ass a bit and I get all lashy and snarky and I just want to go back to when everyone liked each other and we thought Mayo was Gerard and we called him an ass. I actually get the poem, and I don't think it was a swipe, it just meant the blog in general, because no matter which "side" you're on, you have to admit, it's NOT like it was in the beginning, I think everyone has said that.

Carrie said...

Oh, and I knew I wasn't supposed to argue. But recent events have made me snappish.

Anonymous said...

Nothing much J. I've been keeping an eye on Chicago sports. The Blackhawks just won(woo!). I have my first final tomorrow, then my second one is due Thursday, and my last final I think is gonna be given on Tuesday as well, I'm not sure yet though.

When does L get home? How's the fur babies?

Amyranth said...

BC, I tip my hat to the Blackhawks.

(Sorry, I just saw the score and had to come back and reply to BC)

There was a feeling in the city that the Flames wouldn't make it past this round anyway. They rely way too much on Kiprusoff, and there are so many other little things that need to be tweaked, or fixed or... something.

Anyway, again, goodnight everyone.

Turning 40 didn't bother me so much, or should I say "farty." My family, we are weird, in case you haven't gathered that, so around here, I just celebrated my "Farty-toot" birhtday. anon, i'm glad that you liked that i liked your quote. *hee* i think i'm wanting to track it down now even more, knowing it comes from a completely differnt context than what i felt from it.

i love the poetry here, obviously. i'm happy that g'nite bloggers is back and treating us to beautiful words every night, and that kapunua still comes around to share the words she finds meaningful, and of course, mayo's poetry, too.

i love that this random little blog of ours has art and beauty in it, sometimes every day.

anyway! j., make sure to give l. a hug for me! her card arrived today and it was just so wonderful -- not only to have real mail, but just to have that personal contact. i had the thought in the moment just before i opened the envelope that she was almost gone, that with prayer and magic and hope and faith, l. is still here to send me that note.

it's an amazing world, isn't it? :)

TJ, I'll be sure to hug Lisa and tell her you got her piece of mail. There truly is no other way she would have made it that night if it weren't for prayer and positive energies and everything that speaks to a Higher Power, whichever one you speak to. Nothing medical was working, they told me that over the phone.

It was an honest to goodness miracle.

Goodnight TJ, have a wonderful day tomorrow, and a wonderful sleep tonight.

mayo,

it was a good day today, a successfully lazy day off.

i woke to birds and sunshine, and did nothing much until later in the day when my sister called and asked if i wanted to come over for the afternoon (she had needed to leave work early today) and see the kittens.

natch!

(kitty-lovers: i'll post a few pics tomorrow. *grin*)

so i spent the afternoon "om nom nomming" the little fuzzies -- they are so sweet and really irresistable! -- and then had dinner with my sis and her husband. it was an unexpected treat.

earlier in the day i spent some time on my old man laptop, converting files from the obsolete program i wrote them in to something computers from this century will recognize.

spent some time re-reading, too, of course. i used to write a little bit of fanfic, based on my favorite anime. it was good to revisit those stories, and discover they weren't too bad! one or two have salvagable plots, in fact.

it feels so good to get my hands back on my works-in-progress. i was writing a few new things, but not being able to access any of my main wips, or the research i had done for them, that was a stumbling block.

and then tonight, and here, and the stars outside for a little bit.

not a bad day, at all. *smile*

good night, mayo. be good tomorrow (but not too good! *wink*)

Predestination, I've always believed in that too. But I also believe that if you ask your God (whichever one you follow) for something/someone/whatever, He can and will change the circumstances. He won't always do it, cause He knows what's best for us. But I think if it's something you really feel strongly about, He'll at least consider giving it to you.

And then there's the thought of: if everything is predestined, was the different scenario predestined as well?

And and, I also believe that when it's your time, it's your time.

That's the point where my head starts spinning. O_o

Adam Cast Forth

"Was there a Garden or was the Garden a dream?
Amid the fleeting light, I have slowed myself and queried,
Almost for consolation, if the bygone period
Over which this Adam, wretched now, once reigned supreme,

Might not have been just a magical illusion
Of that God I dreamed. Already it's imprecise
In my memory, the clear Paradise,
But I know it exists, in flower and profusion,

Although not for me. My punishment for life
Is the stubborn earth with the incestuous strife
Of Cains and Abels and their brood; I await no pardon.

Yet, it's much to have loved, to have known true joy,
To have had -- if only for just one day --
The experience of touching the living Garden.

BC, I hope so too. I mean, yes, there is a chance that some people may pass away as a result of this flu, but I really hope it doesn't turn into a full fledged global pandemic.

Otherwise, we might be initiating that zombie contingency plan a lot sooner than we think... :O

Anonymous said...

Good point about the zombie thing Amy. Unfortunately, we now got our first confirmed case locally. A college student caught it after going to Mexico I think, but luckily it wasn't a serious case. They're fully recovered now.

Anonymous said...

And I said they're because their identity hasn't been released to the public.

Amyranth said...

Same here BC. I just read it online. A guy from Calgary had it, and now they're saying a guy from Northern Alberta has it too.

According to the Health Region, anyone who thinks they might have it is supposed to call their doctor, and stay home.

I read about a lady who was at her doctor's office today when this guy came in, went up to the desk and said "I just came back from Mexico, and I feel sick. My buddy is in quarantine in Vacouver, what do I do?"

Um, GO HOME.

Anonymous said...

Exactly Amy. just go home, and make sure you don't make physical contact with anyone close to you. If you're sick, you have to keep your distance.

I think we're fortunate that these cases are just mild though compare to Mexico's, so I'm thankful for that. But yeah, officials are saying it could get worse. I really do hope it doesn't.

Amyranth said...

Just keep washing your hands BC. Don't touch your face, or eat until you've done so, and limit your time out in public.

That's really all you can do.

Oh, and don't stress out too much. You can send your immune system on a crazy slide if you start to stress.

*chews her fingernails*

That's definitely one of the important things. everyone's been telling the public not to freak out so much, but it's reminding me to buy hand sanitizer because I have a birthday party to attend on saturday, and I'm getting my hair done friday.

And my mind's been occupied with finals. I'm kinda disappointed today was my last day of class for criminal justice, but oh well :S

How are you doing?

Swine Flu: 14 Things You Need to Know to Keep Yourself Safe

from U.S. News & World Reports

By Nancy Shute

The outbreak of a new form of swine flu has prompted the United States and the World Health Organization to declare a public health emergency. President Obama has called the emergency a "precautionary tool," since so far the outbreak has had only limited impact in the United States. But public health officials are scrambling to determine the extent of the outbreak.

This outbreak could peter out, like a 1976 swine flu outbreak did. Or the virus could spread easily from one person to the next, sparking a pandemic in which millions of people are infected. Richard Besser, the acting CDC director, says it's too early to say if we'll see more severe disease here in the United States. "Viruses are unpredictable and variable over time," he said yesterday. "What we say and what we learn will change."

Here's the rundown on what we know so far, as well as the options for avoiding swine flu and for treating it if you get it.

How is swine flu different than seasonal influenza and bird flu?
This is a new flu bug that includes genetic segments from human, swine, and avian flu viruses. It is an influenza A H1N1 strain, named for two proteins in the bug's protein coat. H1N1 viruses often circulate without causing major outbreaks. But since this flu virus is new, people might not have immunity to it. That's why the global public health system is on alert. No one knows where this outbreak might lead.

What symptoms would tell me I have swine flu?
Swine flu symptoms are similar to the symptoms of regular seasonal flu, according to the CDC. Those include:

-Fever
-Lethargy
-Lack of appetite
-Coughing

Some people with swine flu have also reported runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

How can I tell if someone sitting next to me has swine flu?
You can't. If someone is showing the symptoms described above, it couldn't hurt to keep your distance. Jeff Duchin, chief of the communicable disease section at Public Health Seattle, says it's best to say 6 feet away from someone who has the flu because the virus spreads in droplets when people talk, cough, or sneeze. Of course, your neighbor might just have a stuffy nose caused by a mild cold or seasonal allergies.

Should I be wearing a face mask, like they're wearing in Mexico?
Not unless you're taking care of a person who's sick with swine flu or are sick yourself. Wearing masks is a popular reaction to respiratory outbreaks in parts of the world, but it's not a step that the U.S. government has recommended for the current outbreak. The CDC has an online guide to using masks and respirators to prevent flu transmission.

Is there a vaccine available for this new swine flu?
No. Developing and producing a vaccine matched to this flu virus will take several months. Anne Schuchat, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said yesterday that a swine flu vaccine could be added to the seasonal flu vaccine now being produced for next fall, either as a replacement for one of the three strains in that vaccine or as an addition that makes it a four-strain vaccine.

What's the best way to avoid getting exposed to the swine flu virus?
For now, avoid people who are coughing or sick. The CDC also recommends hand washing to reduce the risk of flu. Though frequent hand washing hasn't specifically been proved to protect against swine flu, it does reduce the risk of respiratory infections generally.

What other things can I do to get my family prepared?
It never hurts to think about what you would do if swine flu hits your community hard, the CDC's Besser says. That may mean that schools would be closed, as has been done in Mexico. The federal government's pandemic flu website has suggestions on getting ready at home and at work. One example: Do you have enough food in the house to feed your family if you had to stay home for a week? You can also check with your employer to make sure the company has a plan in case of a flu pandemic. And you can prepare yourself for the possibility you'd have to work from home for a while.

Is it dangerous to eat pork?
No. This flu virus is spread from person to person by touching surfaces infected with the virus or by inhaling viruses from someone coughing. You can't get swine flu from eating pork.

What should I do if I or someone in my family is sick?
"Calling the doctor is never the wrong thing to do," says Mark Metursky, a professor of medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and immediate past chair of the chest infection network for the American College of Chest Physicians. You'll know you have the flu and not just a cold if you've got a fever of 102 or more, a headache, and muscle aches.

"If you have a respiratory infection with fever, don't go to work or school," says Duchin. To minimize the risk of infecting others, avoid traveling by air and taking public transportation if you have the flu.

People aren't at risk of swine flu for now, Metursky says, unless they have traveled to Mexico of are exposed to someone who has.

What medications work against swine flu?
Laboratory tests suggest this swine flu is susceptible to the antiviral drugs Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir). To be effective, these drugs need to be taken as soon as possible after a person has flu symptoms. "The sooner you talk to your doctor the better," Metursky says. The CDC has new recommendations for using antivirals to treat swine flu; people who are sick and have recently been to Mexico or who have been exposed to people with swine flu should speak with a doctor about whether to take an antiviral medication.

Should I stockpile Tamiflu?
The federal government doesn't recommend that people stockpile Tamiflu at home, saying it should be saved for people who are sick with influenza now. But many public health scientists have set aside some Tamiflu for themselves in the past few years because of concern about the possibility of a pandemic caused by bird flu. It's your call.

I'm not sick. Should I avoid traveling?
This might not be the wisest time to vacation in Cancun, but travel hasn't been banned by the CDC and WHO, so it's up to you. Airlines will let passengers to certain destinations re-book their trips at no cost. Check the CDC or WHO website before traveling, because the advisories could change at any time.

Why has the swine flu been deadly in Mexico but not in the U.S.?
No one knows for sure. It could be that Americans who've gotten infected had better, faster access to health care. Or it could be that the U.S. is just at an earlier stage in the outbreak, Duchin says. If that's the case, U.S. deaths could occur as the outbreak matures.

Where do I look for more news on swine flu?
The CDC's new swine flu website is a good place to start, for information both on the state of the outbreak and on how to keep your family healthy. Other good options:

-The World Health Organization is tracking swine flu cases worldwide.

-The Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy is following swine flu, bird flu, and the possibility of a flu pandemic.

-The Infectious Diseases Society of America gears its swine flu news to doctors, but that information on treatment and avoidance is useful for individuals, too.

-The federal government's pandemic flu website provides a broad range of information on preparing for a pandemic.

Thousands die of the flu every year.
It seems the young and healthy recover.
We are not talking about an airborne strain of HIV.
Hopefully if everyone is smart it will just fade away on its own.

We can hope.

Even though my throat's a little sore. O_O

Um, this particular strain is worst for the young and healthy. Last I saw, no one over 60 has been affected.

Amyranth said...

I read that too. The median age seems to be around 16-17 or something.

And the other anon is right, hundreds die from the flu every year, whether or not it's reached a pandemic.

Anon616 said...

Hi TJ!!! How are you? Are you all recovered from the adventure of "quilting week"? It sounded like those quilting ladies kept you on your toes!

toujours said...

they really did, wendy, but it waas fun, all the same. :)

now we're just reorganizing the store, it's a mess!

Amyranth said...

So Teej, did you learn anything about quilting while you were running the tables?

See Wendy? See? She's a SLICK little so-n-so!

Anon616 said...

A store's mess is just a sign of sales success!

Hey, maybe I should copyright that one! I kind of like it!

Secret.

I am 26 and overweight. Not massively overweight just about 3 pounds or so.

I am not proud of the weight and try to pretend that I'm "curvy' but I don't hate myself for being overweight either.

But I am tired of making excuses for myself. I am overweight like many American's.

I decided recently that I want to change, change big time, change my lifestyle.

The very LAST thing I want is to have a heart attack in my 30's or 40's. I do not want to become obese. My mother is obese about 100 pounds overweight. She quit smoking 10 years ago but she still smoked and I know that adds to it.

My secret is I am tired of making excuses for myself and trying to pretend that I am "a big girl" or that it's genetics.

I started going here

http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/

Maybe it's gross but I am not beating myself up. I am going to take something negative and make it positive.

The idea of a heart attack or diabetes by the time I am in my 40 really scares me. So I am going to DO something about it for once.

I'm not a SIF because I don't pretend to be skinny.

I am going to change my habits. My lifestyle. I will stop eating like a typical American. And I am going to sign up to the gym.

I am tired of being FAT. I am going to do something about it.

Wish me luck.

Anon616 said...

She sure is, Amy! I knew I should have entered singing that Elton John song instead of singing Motley Crue!

*big wink*

3 is suppose to be 30!!! I am 30 pounds overweight

Amyranth said...

Congratulations Anon, and good luck!

Make sure you're smart about your weight loss. Increase your healthy food and exercise, and your weight will gradually decrease.

My Uncle lost 83 pounds over the last 8 months, simply by cutting red meat and processed foods out of his diet. He looks good, feels better, and his doctor gave him a handshake and a clean bill of health on his most recent physical!

He did it after 20+ of being overweight. He was almost 300 pounds when he started, and now he's down to 220.

He did it, and so can you. I believe in you!

Anonymous said...

Damn, I'm having computer problems, so big hello to anyone who's arrived.

Anonymous said...

I am not going to lie, looking at the food on that web page made me hungry.

If anyone can give me tips to live healthy. To manage my weight and get some good cardio help.

Maybe we can all help each other. I can't be the only person here who is overweight and wants to try hard to get into shape!

Anonymous said...

Thanks Amy, I am cutting out red meat, I think I will be a vegetarian in fact. I will start to be careful about carbs but I know I need them.

And no fake sugar. No aspertane or coke zero. No more soda or beer.

There's no reason not to start tomorrow.

The idea of being a diabetic or having my heart fail when I am only young, scares me beyond belief.

It is motivating me to change my ways. I'm excited.

Anon616 said...

11:08 ~ I'm all for trying to be as healthy as you can be. Having said that, I don't think being 3 pounds overweight is a big deal at all! I don't think those 3 pounds will cause any health related problems. However, worrying ~ so much ~ about those few extra pounds could!

I do wish you good luck!!!!

A little exercise will get rid of those three pounds fast.

toujours said...

sorry, i was off struggling with my email. *sheesh*

amyranth, it was more like a refresher course -- though i've never made a full-on quilt, there's pretty much nothing with a sewing needle and thread i haven't tried.

Anonymous said...

Like I said.... 3 was atypo I meant 30.

Anonymous said...

I'm kinda having the same problem like you anon. I've gained back some of the weight I lost, and I don't feel too happy about it, so you're not alone in that.

Biggest good luck wishes to you! I'm gonna try to be more active this year since school is going to be over really soon.

Hiya sugarplum, how are you doing? *blows kisses*

Lust bunny update? Um, let's see, there's probably not a lot of updates on him, but here's to hoping his band will definitely do a U.S. tour later this year, because that will give me a perfect excuse to go hit on him ;)

Hi there tj *hugs*

Anonymous said...

In this day and age there is just.... no excuse for me to be fat. I don't want to dance around the issue. I am fat and I'm not making excuses, my health is at risk. I want to look and feel better!!

Anon616 said...

Okay, now that (30 pounds) makes much more sense!

I was getting a little worried about you obsessing over 3 measly pounds!
;)

I think cutting out red meat is very good for your digestive tract and your colon will thank you too!

Also, eating an apple a day is great.

Sorry about just wandering off, I had to feed the buns cause Lisa's so tired, and then had a couple other things to do.

Hey Wendy! Hi Anon! You guys ok?

Anonymous said...

Don't worry anon, you're not the only one who has problems with weight. I still do, unfortunately. I know it's really hard to start eating more healthier when there's too many delicious junk food out there.

I do agree heart failure and diabetes both scare the shit out of me as well. I don't want to have to experience that if I want to have my own family someday.

Here's one tip: Of course, if you want to eat, don't forget to do so in moderation. Eat more fresh fruits and salads, and cut down on sugar and all that.

Once I did cut down on red meat, and when I did I felt absolutely great. When I eat too much of it, I tend to get these body aches, not to mention I don't feel super healthy when that happens. I eat more leaner things like chicken and fish.

Anon616 said...

LOL, sweetcheeks! Since when is an excuse required to hit on a Lust Bunny?
;)

Anonymous said...

This is why you'er thin, lol good comeback!!! That food looks good. Its good to know... I don't have to give up delicious foods.

Anonymous said...

I'm going to be a vegetarian I think.

Anonymous said...

Everything has HFCS or artificial sweeteners. I think regular sugar is better for you but only in small amounts!!

It is sooooo hard to avoid HFCS and artificial sweeteners. That is my big problem.

Anon616 said...

J!!! I was wondering where you went!

How happy were the kitties and bunny to see L? I bet those kitties did some rubbing and purring!

I'm good, thanks for asking! How are you, besides tired too?

Anonymous said...

Sucralose and aspartame are the worst.

Are there any vegetarian's here? I LIKE meat that is a problem.... how do they do it.

I can do it though. I need the will power.

Anonymous said...

I turned veg about three years ago. Any time I start to think about meat I look at pictures of slaughterhouses.

It makes me feel good about not eating it and trust me I am not hungry any more!

Original Punk J said...

Wendy! Well, the cats smelled Lisa's hands, and finally decided she was who they remembered. Pinkle got really excited when she went in to see the bunnies, but Logan gave her a look like, "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MOTHER?? DO YOU SEE WHO I HAVE TO PUT UP WITH?!"

Logan, however, is the diva. :D

We're all very happy that she's back.

Anonymous said...

Lol, you're right sugarplum. An excuse is never required, but I'll say this: This doesn't happen a lot but if I see someone I'm attracted to, my flirty side will naturally come out a bit. I tend to have a smirk on my face when that happens.

I'd totally tell him I think he's hot. I have no problem with that.

Anon616 said...

Anon: I believe you are correct about sugar versus artificial sweeteners. My OB~GYN swears "natural" is always better for you.

I'm quite happy about that because I never could stand the taste of artificial sweeteners!

He also insists people need some red meat. Well, that I'm not doing! I gave that up when I was 19. My tummy, intestines and colon are all much happier without red meat.

He says to think of your plate as a color wheel. The more color on your plate, the healthier it is for you.

You should have some green, red, yellow and so forth...

My colon AND my conscience are both happier because I don't eat meat.

It is a whole different set of habits.

Amyranth said...

I don't eat ground beef as much, because there is a lot of fat in ground beef.

Cut that out for sure, but up your intake of poultry and fish. Fish especially is really, really good for you. It'll help to work out any non-essential fats you have possibly floating around in your arteries. It's also good for your brain.

And hey, if you need it, oysters are great for baby-making. Just sayin'.

Anonymous said...

non-essential fats

Damn, I read that as non-essential farts :S

Anon616 said...

Ergo!!!! *smooooooch*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
can be fat vegitarian if 2 much goes in.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's true too, Ergo. You don't have to be a vegetarian to be thin or healthy.
We have to remember that our bodies do require the intake of some fatty foods. Those foods are necessary to keep our good cholestrol levels (HDL) up.
My HDL went down way to low ~ thanks to a super high dose of Lipitor. Well, those 80 mg's did finally get my bad cholestrol down to just above 200!
Whatcha gonna do when you carry those genes?
mayo,
i had to wait for my ride home today. normally, it takes awhile to clean and close up shop for the night, and so my ride must wait for me, but my boss and i were out of the place at 5 pm on the dot.
so i went out to the front and sat on the raised curb between the parking lot and the sidewalk. it was overcast and warm, and i leaned my elbows on my knees and listened to the music on my mp3 player.
i've been so busy lately i haven't had a chance to really listen, in the way i like to, with a whole focus, making the music in my ears a little world inside my mind.
sitting there today, it was like a drink of water when you're parched, mayo. the music slid into my heart and head with cool liquid ease. i felt like i had come home after a long dry journey.
so i perched there, on the curb, watching the cars drive by and smiling at the pedestrians (even petted a little dog on a leash who came close to say 'hi'), and no one knew i was sitting in an oasis, no one knew i was drinking deep.
it was the best quarter-hour of the day. *smile*
good night, mayo. remember to feed your spirit, every day.
Goodnight TJ, hope tomorrow's not so sloooooooooooooooooooowwwwwww...
My overall cholesterol was 99 at one point, with meds. Now it's about 120. My triglycerides are high, but the rest of it's good. Cholesterol levels ARE primarily hereditary; meds sometimes doen't work for some people.
Amyranth said...
Wendy, I share your shame.
I'm from Eastern Canada, and I can't stand most fish.
The weird thing? I LOVE SUSHI.
If it's not raw, for certain fish, I can't eat it. Raw salmon, tuna, eel and crab, yes.
But I have to eat clams and scallops cooked. In fact, I have a recipe for Grand Marnier Scallops that I just adore.
Lobster? Once a year, maybe every two years I crave it. Other than that, I just pity the poor little bastards stuck in the tanks.
Amyranth said...
Anyway ladies and Anons, I'm going to head off to bed and get a little extra sleep too.
Have a good night everyone!
Anon616 said...
J: Those 80 mgs worked a little too well on my good cholestrol! LOL!!! I'm now down to 20 mgs and hoping that's keeping my bad cholestrol down. Of course, I am 4 months late for my bloodwork.
Well, I'll go feed the vampires soon. After Jazz Fest!
Of course, I would have noticed the difference if it were not for those shots prior to the mixed drink request.
Dear SS,
A red-letter day here at Punk Central, one that I was so scared might never happen. Five weeks ago Lisa went into the hospital, and almost never came out. In the span of about 12 hours, she went from feeling "pretty good" to 0% chance of making it through the night.
Three hours later, her chances rose to 50%. Then eventually back to 100%.
I never gave up on her; I refused to accept that she could be gone.
"Pactum Serva" has never meant more than it has this past five weeks. Faith kept me going.
Love, FAITH, Hope were with me all that time. They helped me face the Unknown, when nothing else did.
Miracles DO still happen. Lisa's proof of that.
She's my best friend.
She's home.
She's alive.
I am grateful beyond measure.
Goodnight, baby. I love you.
My heart to yours, always.
Hi again!
anon with the diet, if you cut out meat be very sure you get adequate amounts of the elements from other non-meat sources, it would be worthwhile seeing a dietician who is experienced in vegetarian diets to ensure your intake is as it should be. Minerals like iron are very easy to become low in if you don't get an alternative rich source, iron from meat is absorbed much easier so you need larger quantities of dark greens and legumes etc to compensate, and omega fats such as found in fish are very important especially if you are planning on parenthood in the future, a baby takes all it's needs from the mothers stores, so you need supplements
in other words , if you choose to be vegetarian make sure you do it properly and best of luck!
Hey guys,
I'm still waiting for the cops to arrive. The noise has kind of stopped but I did give my landlord a call. He said that he would call the cops. Some of my neighbors must of heard the same strange noises coming from outside cause some of them are up now. I've been standing in the hallway for the past 15min. talking to them about the disturbance. Thank goodness, I do have some company now. I want to thank all of you for your concern. EP, BC, Anon, and anyone lurking, thank you all for your kind words.
I'm just standing by for now, but at least I'm not alone. I'll zip back in, in a little while to give you all an update. But as of now, I'm feeling a lot better.
P.S. I saw the clip of Elena's daughter singing. Her voice is extraordinary. Very angelic, just beautiful.
Alright guys, I'll be back in a little while with further details.
Hey EP.
I hope I didn't worry you too much or disturb your tutoring session with your student. I was just so scared but thank goodness most of my neighbors are up.
It just sounded like someone was walking around near my window and for a moment their was a large crash. Like someone knocked into a bunch of trash cans. That's when my neighbors got up. Still waiting for the cops though.
A Rose for Emily...
ergoproxy said...
no worries at all Emily. I had finished tutoring so there was no interruption. I'm just glad you aren't on your own
Anonymous said...
Alright guys, last post I promise.
The cops finally showed and your not going to believe what happened. Well, the perpetrator was one of the neighbors. Can you believe it? He must have been on his way home from the local bar and was so wasted, he couldn't find the front door to the building.
In his drunken stupor he knocked over a few trash cans and knocked himself unconscious cause when the cops came they found him on the floor and bleeding from the back of his head. He came to thank goodness and is on his way to the hospital now.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks guys for hearing my crazy posts tonight. I really didn't want to cause alarm but I just felt that as long as someone was listening I wouldn't feel completely alone. Thanks for your kind words and your concern. I'll pop in tomorrow to see how all of you are doing.
"That I shall say good night till it be morrow."
Self inflicted certainly and rather inconvenient for you and the neighbours but he is so fortunate he was found and the injury wasn't too serious, he is a very very lucky!
Lets hope he may have learnt a lesson and won't consume so much in the future.
Happy to know you are ok, thanks for letting us know
