Chiral

That is not me
Through the mirror
From which I see
Spouting lies
And histories
None that matter
Not to me.

In reverie
I am fabled
Often wickedly
Sprouting eyes
like mysteries
A ghost blown curtain
Through which you see.

And it cycles
Its cycles.

I do not know why.

EP, I'm a Wood Sheep. Don't know exactly what that means. Maybe I'd make a great wood eating farm animal, although don't sheeps eat grass. I don't know. LOL!

But that website (I mentioned above) was very detailed and as I was reading it I thought, wow, they have me down to the tee.

Hey Elena, I'm glad to hear that everything is better in your neck of the woods.

emily the addition of the elements alters the chinese zodiac signs, I find I am more fire sheep than just sheep, it also alters the compatibilities a bit amy

I love the different scents of coffee. I think when its freshly grounded it just does something to me. That's probably why I'm always wired and can never sleep but I'm just too use to my coffee. I like tea but I don't think I can function without my coffee.

Maybe that's what they mean by Wood Sheep EP. I'm very stubborn and hard like wood. Very set in her ways. Hahahaha!

I'm a Yin Water Boar, and he's a Yin Fire Snake.

The only thing I can figure is that water quenches fire, and helps to keep it under control.

I like the Western Zodiac way of it. We're both Earth signs, and the level of stability and patience is such that we're like two mountains, side by side. We're very, slowly, not going anywhere together.

I read that in a book somewhere.

ergoproxy said...

I like coffee and I generally use ground and a plunger (or at a pinch a good instant) but just find if I drink it in the afternoon it affects my sleep....and I do luuuurve my sleep!

ergoproxy said...

there are sites than combine the both, which can be interesting, but really people still vary enough that the best match can be a failure and the supposed worst can work beautifully
It's a lot more complex than any astrology I think

That's a very endearing quote Amy. Maybe someday I'll be lucky enough to say that about my future hubby/sheep. Only time will tell.

Emily, it is, isn't it? I think that's why I still remember it after all this time.

Ergo, so true. But you know, I've met people who are incompatible by starsign, and they really can't make it together in real life.

Or maybe I just really lucked out. (I did. I know it.)

Anyway, I'm going to go. I woke up early this morning for nothing, so I need to catch up on the 4 extra hours of sleep I could have had. :P

Goodnight J, Elena, Ergo, Emily, BC, and Carrie!

Goodnight Mayo and SS!

Well it looks like I'm a dumbass
ass, I dropped the ball again
'Cause the woman I love is pissed at me saying this has got to end
Now I tore it up late last night - got way too drunk, it's true
Can I somehow make it up to her? Is there anything I can do?

You've got to tell the girl you're sorry for anything you ever said
Tell the girl you're sorry for making her wish she was dead
Tell the girl your'e sorry for leaving her alone and cold
Tell the girl you're sorry for being such an asshole

So she tells me she's getting really really tired of the crap I tend to pull
Like showing up where she works naked covered in baby oil
Now I'm trying really hard, trying really hard, trying to keep my evil side in check
But sometimes you just gotta kick the cat and deal with what you get

Tell the girl you're sorry for being such a selfish jerk
Tell the girl you're sorry for not caring that the kitty got hurt
Tell the girl you're sorry 'cause the two of you still ain't wed
Tell the girl you're sorry for being such a shit head

I'll say I'm wrong
Will this take long?
No need for you to go on and on
I earn my keep
Just give me peace
I swear I love you
Let me sleep

Now it seems that I must apologize even though I think I'm right,
'cause lordy knows, hone, if I don't there will be no nookie tonight
So I slowly turn to the woman I love saying, baby, baby, baby please
Then I watch her smile and point to me saying, Get down on your knees and...

Tell the girl you're sorry for everything you never said
Tell the girl you're sorry for giving really lousy head
Tell the girl you're sorry for feelings you can never show
Tell the girl you're sorry for being such an asshole
^I loves me some COWBOY MOUTH!!!!!^

Cheesy book rec, House of Scorpio by Pat Wallace. An Avon book from the 70's, the price on the cover is $1.95, but the hubby shelled out over 20 on some site because he knew I lurved it so much. Six sisters of differing astrological signs live in the fantasy world of Zodiaca, and there's a murder mystery and intrigue and romance and just overall cheesiness. It's my comfort book, like comfort food, I probably read it every couple years or so. :)

I've told her, Wendy, and when I do, she always says, "I miss them too!" And she loves her parents, but she's more than ready to come home.

That rash she has is called "vasculitis". It's an infection of the blood vessels brought on by all the different meds that were pumped through her in the hospital. The blood vessels absorb all that new medication and then have to purge it somehow. Thusly, the nasty rash. The dermo put her on prednisone yesterday, and tonight she said that the rash is disappearing rapidly. Still itches, still hurts, but there's nowhere near as much of it as there was!

And...

IT'S NOT CONTAGIOUS! Never was. She could've been back last week. Oh well, it's all worked out.

Um...hamsters? No, no hamsters, Emily. Sometimes it feels like we have one of everything, though...:D

Dumplin and Raindrop are my cats; Pinkle and Logan are Lisa's bunnies; and PFF (say it "Piff") is the betta. "Fur babies" just covers everybody's menagerie, instead of naming them all each time. :D

Original Punk J said...

Yeah, Ergo, they were shaken up a lot by this whole episode (I guess that's as good a name as any for it). Her mom was especially glad to be able to take care of her youngest for a long while. She LOVES taking care of her kids, even though they're all grown now, and two are married with kids of their own.

ergoproxy said...

I would think they are excellent beach reads Emily

BC when does your vacation end?

Anonymous said...

Awh, you have cats and bunnies. You picked really sweet names. My sister recently purchased two guinea pigs for her daughters and they are so precious. They named one Bubbles and the other one Buttercup. They are so soft and cute.

A Rose for Emily...

Anonymous said...

Ergo, the fall semester starts on August 30th, so I'm guessing August 29th is the last vacation day.

Original Punk J said...

Aw guinea pigs! They're so cute! I had kind of wanted one, but instead Lisa "inherited" Logan through a co-worker whose friend didn't want the bunny anymore. He's very small, weighs about 3 or 4 pounds, is grayish silver, and makes little grunty noises--just like a guinea pig! So he's the next best thing.

And yeah, he's named after Wolverine. ;)

Anything beats "Hannah Montana", though.

Denis Leary does a great routine on "Lock and Load", I think it is, where he talks about his kids trying to name the new dog. (This was many years ago.) One suggestion was Pizza. The whole routine is hilarious. I love Denis Leary, he's so snarky.

Anonymous said...

Yeah they are so adorable. They're both females and they make great company for each other. They run around their cage and are so still when you pet them. I know I'm going on like a little kid but I never had hamsters or guinea pigs growing up. My mom never allowed pets like that in the house (cause I think deep down she was afraid of them). So its funny how I finally get the pleasure of knowing what its like to own them even if its vicariously through my nieces. Haha!

Mayo

A very intense night. Seeing the destruction of homes hit by the tornado just made me realize once again how quickly everything can be lost. But then again, sometimes we loose what is most precious to our hearts slowly. The light fades and we do nothing to keep it alive. Why is that?

Take care, you who I will always treasure as a friend.

the tornadoThis is the link Ergo posted last night but there has been more video added. I know the man being interviewed in one of the videos. Thank God no one was injured during this tornado but I believe that because of the wonderful advance warning everyone was given it really helped. I sat and watched as the helicopter followed the tornado while it was on the ground. IT was scary watching it move over landmarks I recognized. And of course knowing it was coming my direction. Today the weather is supposed to get bad again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we don't have another night like last night.

I love Nora Roberts as JD Robb. I haven't read anything by her that isn't from the In Death series, but I've heard her romance novels are incredible. Also, I believe she writes for Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, or something like that.

Elena, my fingers are crossed for you and your neighbours too. I hope there are no more destructive twisters.

Emily, nice to see you around again, pop in soon and we'll talk cakes!

Anon, that reminds me of an email I got once, a long long time ago.

No matter where you go, somebody loves you.
Somebody thinks you have nice hair, even when you hate it.
Somebody loves your smile, even if it's crooked.
Somebody thinks you look great in those jeans, even if you're having a "fat" day.
Somebody appreciates your thoughts, your wit, your kindness and your voice. Even when you think you're stupid, unfunny, or nasal.

Regardless of what you think, somebody likes these things about you. Appreciate yourself, and somebody will be happy.

DELIGHT IN DISORDER

A SWEET disorder in the dress
Kindles in clothes a wantonness :
A lawn about the shoulders thrown
Into a fine distraction :
An erring lace which here and there
Enthrals the crimson stomacher :
A cuff neglectful, and thereby
Ribbons to flow confusedly :
A winning wave (deserving note)
In the tempestuous petticoat :
A careless shoe-string, in whose tie
I see a wild civility :
Do more bewitch me than when art
Is too precise in every part.

interesting start to my work trip- coming across accident on the way, fortunately no one was hurt but could have been much much worse, ute and flatbed semi trailer, luckily the semi dodged the old guy in ute on the wrong side of the road -though old guy's car ended up on it's side against a grassy bank- and no one was coming opposite way (and by grace of both of us being held up leaving our homes myself and my sis in law- first on the scene were not involved!)Had to call the police etc.

after that the rest of the day seemed quite calm

toujours said...

my gosh, ergo, how thankful no one was hurt! coming across a car accident always reminds me how quickly our lives can change.

Ergo!!!! *smoooooch*

That was quite an eventful start to your day. Like you said, thank goodness no one was hurt. I hate seeing accidents.
:(

I'm glad to hear the rest of your work day was calm!

I hope Elena is having a calm night ~ weather wise ~ too!

I'll (probably) be back a bit later. Hopefully, I'll catch you then!

ergoproxy said...

hi TJ it sure does. So lucky he wasn't killed, it's a blind curve heading up a hill, the semi had only a fraction of a second to see him and make a decision

how are you?

Tonight was very special for me. I attended “La Soiree Francaise” presented by The American Opera Studio. Yes, to be honest this would not have normally been something I would have chosen to attend but there was a reason. Flighty was recently accepted and is the youngest member ever asked to join. And yes I am soundly like a very proud mom.

We were served Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Broccoli & Cheese Petit Quiche, Brie & Raspberry on Baguette, Bleu Cheese & Pecan Toasts, Pâté (yuck), Crème Puffs, Custard Éclairs and Mango Cake. Oh and wine, lots of wine.

But the best part was that Flighty was given the opening spot. Yep, she was chosen to perform first and she was wonderful. She sang “Automne” Thank heavens the program had the lyrics in English because believe me the two years of French I took have long since left my brain. But the French she sang sounded beautiful. (total proud mom moment again).

Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you. It’s storming here again and I needed to get some work done before my Internet goes out. Hope you had a special day too. Take care.

Night Mayo

toujours said...

hey elena, i'm doing good, glad that tornado didn't come closer. *whew*

elena said...

I did have a lovely time. Only thing I didn't like was I had to "dress up" for the occasion.

Flighty had told me ahead of time I had to dress nicely. So naturally I had to mess with her. I told her since it was "French" I would wear my bustier The black and red one with spiders. To her credit she just laughed and rolled her eyes.

elena said...

Oh yeah TJ that tornado was just a bit too close to home.

I really hope this isn't going to be a bad tornado season. Right now we are getting tons of rain and so now we have to worry about flash floods in the area.

ergoproxy said...

LOL elena, well it IS french!

toujours said...

what did you wear, elena, instead of the bustier?

and i hope it isn't a bad season, as well. i'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

elena said...

Oh I had a basic black top with a long jacket. So do you still have the bustier I gave you?

toujours said...

i bet you looked great, elena!

and i do have it -- it's hanging up in my closet, waiting to be worn again. i still love it. :)

ergoproxy said...

can't go wrong with classic black
I am waiting for winter so if I go out I can wear my good pants and jackets, too damn hot in summer

elena said...

You can never go wrong with basic black. So very true.

I even wore heels. And didn't fall off them. Score one for me.

ergoproxy said...

hooray for you!
I won't loan you my 4 inch ones then?

elena said...

No do not loan me 4 inch heels unless you are trying to off me. I'd break my neck.

you'd look fabulous, elena! ;)

mayo,

went outside for a little while tonight, just like last summer i can hardly resist the lure of the night sky here at my folks' place.

i went out to the front yard and just stood there for the longest time, looking at the constellations, enjoying the scent of the night air, listening to the crickets at my feet and the whipporwill in the distant trees.

and then a shooting star, directly overhead, making a long lazy line eastward. it wasn't falling, mayo, it was soaring, golden orange and huge, trailing a line of sparks like a summer firework.

amazing.

beautiful.

good night, mayo. don't forget to look up every once in awhile.

Moon Milk

"A ray is caught in a bowl,
And the cat licks it, thinking that it's milk;
Another threads its way through tree-branches,
And the elephant thinks he has found a lotus-stalk.
Half asleep, a girl reaches out
And tries to rearrange the moonbeams on the bed
To share the warmth.

It is the moon that is drunk with its own light,
But the world that is confused.

Mayo-chan!

Hi, how are you this many a day? Saturday was a very nice and lovely memorial for my honored Gran. So many people turned out to see her off. Family members I haven't seen in years and some I've never even seen before. O_O And lots of friends. My Kung Fu friends showed up, even. I printed up a ton and a half of pictures. The whole thing was exactly what it should be.

We don't have funerals in this (immediate) family because we're not very churchy or funeral-y. No wakes, either. I like it better that way.

My god(dess)daughter spent the weekend too and we hung around with my other cousins, played with the dogs outside, but mostly played video games all weekend. We beat FFVII (that's like my 9th time or something O_O ) and then beat the first part of RE2 (my second time.)

And then there was a huge robbery somewhere in the neighborhood and some guy stole a car, and there were billions of cop cars and even a police helicopter. They hovered over my block for about forty minutes shining the huge spotlight everywhere until around 1:30 AM. It was pretty sexciting.

Yesterday it was eighty five degrees up in this bitch. Eighty five degrees! I was really happy. But today it's back down to sixty five. WTF? How can it change so quickly? I'm ready for the hot weather. Gardening, baby birds, Bob Marley, the beach, and poolsiding with my friends.

"Poolside" is a verb out on this island. :)

S(S)S, are you psyched for Spring and Summer? Which season is your best season? Me, it's always the season I'm currently in, or that is coming up, that I say is my favorite. But really I think that Summer and Autumn are my top favorites.

OH MY GOD! I just remembered, I want to show you guys something cool.

Flyaway, - How A Wild Bird Rehabber Sought Adventure and Found Her Wings . One of my very good friends did the illustrations. And guess what? Some of the birds that I raised are in this book.

How cool is that? It's aces. :)

Well guys! Enjoy the lovely Spring. ^_^ And, I hope something comes along to make you smile. Heck,s crew smiling, I hope you guys get to full-out ROFL.

Anonymous said...

Also! Are you guys going to go see Wolverine when it comes out? I'm going to. Not the day it comes out of course (too crowded, plus that's Beltane!) but maybe the following tuesday after school.

Oh yeah, I have one more week of vacation, then school starts again.

Yeah, I'm psyched about seeing Wolverine though! :D

Smoke said...

Hey Jules!

GAMBIT!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, GAMBIT!!!!!!!!

I've had a crush on Taylor Kitsch for a while now so I'm soooo happy he's playing Gambit! :)

Hee-hee.

Hey, if you guys want to LOL for real, go see OBSESSED. I laughed so hard at that movie. Beyonce put the smackdown on a Hero! Seriously!

But some guy in the theater was laughing the whole time and I couldn't help but laugh with him.

Mayo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GAMBIT AND WOLVERINE! YHUUUSSS!!That is all.

For now.

Anonymous said...

I never even heard of Obsessed. :)

And I'm kinda fuzzy on my X Men, too. But I am a big fan of Huge JackedMan and I like the Wolverine character. I'll bet you and Solly are going to go see it together, eh?

Well, my crow is walking around my kitchen getting into junk. O_O Better go see to him.

I'm so glad you are OK after the tornado sweetie.

7 Great Side Jobs for Extra Cash
by Cherie L. Berkley, PayScale.com

Strapped for cash? Many people are in these trying times. With growing unemployment, salary cuts, and the rising cost of living, plenty of Americans are seeking additional avenues to increase cash flow. Check out these seven hot side jobs that can be done around your 9-to-5 and with skills you may already have.

1. Dog Walker. Even in a recession people don't skimp on their furry loved ones. Therefore, being a dog walker can be an easy sell, especially for other people who need to work two jobs to make ends meet. The double bonus here is you can get great exercise while racking up extra bucks. You can also walk dogs before or after your full-time job. Dog walker median salary per hour: $16.29.

2. Handyman. No matter where the economy stands, things still break that must be fixed. When you are good at fixing things, word travels fast. It's possible to make a small mint fixing cars, installing water heaters, and doing home electrical and plumbing jobs. Consider how much a full-time car mechanic or a plumber charges. Even if you discount your rate, the pay is still good, and customers feel like they got a deal. From painting to fence-building, there are plenty of household jobs many people can't do or simply don't want to. Handyman median salary per hour: $17.33.

3. Medical Transcription. Are you a fast typist with excellent grammar and a medical background? If so, medical transcription may be for you. This job often calls for at least one year's experience in a hospital or clinical setting; some ads require transcription experience. Tools you will need for this job likely include high-speed Internet and Microsoft 2000 software. You should also be prepared to take a skills test. Medical transcriptionist median salary per hour: $13.78.

4. Wills/Medical Power of Attorney. While planning for the inevitable can be upsetting, it provides a way for attorneys to make extra side income. Lawyers can get up to speed on formulating simple wills and living trusts without too much effort. Completing these documents is something most people agree is essential but have not checked off their 'to-do' list. Talk to friends, church members, and neighbors to generate clients. Potential clients are likely working or have other commitments just like you. Therefore, being available outside of business hours makes meeting up more convenient for everyone involved. Attorney median salary per hour: $55.66.

5. Income Tax Preparer. Preparing income taxes is one of the most dreaded have-tos among Americans. There are plenty of people who would be glad to pass off their tax preparations to someone else if for no other reason than the fear of being audited. Donald Cheatham, owner of DC Tax Group, turned his side job into a small side business. He chose this off-hours gig because of the high demand and he enjoys accounting and the extra money.

"I work 50 to 60 hours a week on my main job [as an accountant] and another 25 to 35 hours a week for my part-time job during tax season. So it gets a little hard at times and usually sleep is the one thing that I don't get during tax season, but it is well worth it," says Cheatham, who started up in 1995 in Chicago. While it helps your credibility if you are a certified public accountant, this certification is not required. The median salary for an accountant per hour: $18.19; CPA median salary per hour: $26.25.

6. Teach a Hobby. Whether it is dance, tennis, golf, computer skills, or music, teaching someone how to do something you are good at and love makes working a second job less like, well ? work. You can find teacher job ads at recreational centers in your neighborhood or advertise your expertise online and in local publications. Dance instructor median salary per hour: $18.58; Music teacher median salary per hour: $21.28.

7. Babysitter. This job is convenient, especially if you have kids. After all, you can make money with them right nearby. Offer to watch your friends' and neighbors' kids so they can take a breather, and they will love you for it. Another option is to help people who work nights. Finding a 24-hour daycare service is difficult, to say the least. Caring for several kids on the same night can compound your earnings and get you extra cash more quickly. Babysitter median salary per hour: $9.00.

Whether is a "plant" or not, she's got an incredible voice, and I have to say, I love the fact that in the UK that her style of singing is seen as marketable.

I haven't watched a lot of American or Canadian Idol, but I saw a few of the preliminary shows, and they focus more on the pop/rock style and the look, instead of actual talent.

Many of the tabloids out there currently seem to focus on whether or not Susan Boyle is going to get a makeover. Can you believe that shit?

Anyways, hallo Amy. Hey there tj, happy birthday Carrie.

hello amyranth! i haven't had a chance to hear the clip of her singing, but i love the story. i like the idea that there are remarkable people undiscovered in every corner of the world.

so, kapunua mentioned beltane, and i was talking about it the other night, that quote at 4:51 from stephanie dickinson felt very beltane...it's totally on my mind this year, i'm really excited for it, and all that has had this song running through my head at odd intervals:

"Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev'ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
Tra la! It's here!
That shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
Merrily appear!
It's May! It's May!
That gorgeous holiday
When ev'ry maiden prays that her lad
Will be a cad!
It's mad! It's gay!
A libelous display!
Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,
Ev'ryone breaks.
Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes
The lusty month of May!

Whence this fragrance wafting through the air?
What sweet feelings does its scent transmute?
Whence this perfume floating ev'rywhere?
Don't you know it's that dear forbidden fruit!
Tra la la la la! That dear forbidden fruit!
Tra la la la la!

Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That darling month when ev'ryone throws
Self-control away.
It's time to do
A wretched thing or two,
And try to make each precious day
One you'll always rue!
It's May! It's May!
The month of "yes you may,"
The time for ev'ry frivolous whim,
Proper or "im."
It's wild! It's gay!
A blot in ev'ry way.
The birds and bees with all of their vast
Amorous past
Gaze at the human race aghast,
The lusty month of May.

Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev'ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
Tra la! It's here!
That shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
Merrily appear.
It's May! It's May!
The month of great dismay.

When all the world is brimming with fun,
Wholesome or "un."

It's mad! It's gay!
A libelous display!
Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,
Ev'ryone breaks.
Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes
The lusty month of May!
