The wrong way...

Drill Bit

Tuesday I hear it’s going around;
I’m off...again, knuckled white.
Wednesday I will talk myself into
Round about routes to denial.
If I say it, then it won’t come true.
And, I find comfortable restraint; bound to
Repeating it over and over and over. And again,
It feels better that way, medicated meditation.
Then Thursday everything is white. I eat
From a bland full service spectrum buffet,
Plated and nothing touches.
I won’t even sip from her cup.
By Friday I am unable to tolerate human contact.
And, I count back to the last
In order to find spared time. I’ll be free-
On Saturday what is in the air will kill me.
So, I hold my breath between rooms. Suffocated,
Sunday I become completely restricted.
I will not accept from anyone, anything
That has been anywhere other than here.
Those days, they wear me hard
And to the end, so I have become
Exhausted from the fight. I finally sleep.
Then Monday brings me back, slightly.
With a negligent handshake,
So that again Tuesday I am found,
Wringing dry, anticeptic hands.
I will not allow myself to open a door
I stay; refusal and restraint, withholding.

p.s. its got quite a grip.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

With a selfish attitude, oneself is important, and others are not so important. According to Shantideva's advice, a technique to help in turning this attitude around is to imagine- in front of yourself as an unbiased observer- your own selfish self on one side and a limited number of other beings on the other side- ten, fifty, or a hundred. On one side is your proud, selfish self, and on the other side is a group of poor, needy people. You are, in effect, in the middle- as an unbiased, third person. Now, judge. Is this one, single, selfish person more important? Or is the group of people more important? Think. Will you join this side or that side? Naturally, if you are a real human being, your heart will go with the group because the number is greater and they are more needy. The other one is just a single person, proud and stupid. Your feeling naturally goes with the group. By thinking in this way, selfishness gradually decreases,
and respect of others grows. This is is the way to practice

there is love, there is hope to have real families, real brotherhood, real equanimity, real peace. If the love within your mind is lost, if you continue to see other beings as enemies, then no matter how much knowledge or education you have, no matter how much material progress is made, only suffering and confusion will ensue.

"Human beings will continue to deceive and overpower one another. Basically,
everyone exists in the very nature of suffering, so to abuse or mistreat each
other is futile. The foundation of all spiritual practice is love. That you
practice this well is my only request.

We find that if a person lives a very selfish life and is never concerned about the welfare of others, he will have few friends, and people will not take much notice of him. At the time of his death, there will not be many people who will regret his passing. Some deceptive and negative persons may be very powerful and wealthy, and therefore some people- for economic reasons and so forth- might portray themselves as friends, but they will speak against such person behind their back. When these negative person die, these very same "friends" may rejoice at their death.

On the other hand, many people mourn and regret the death of a person who is
very kind and always altruistic and who works for the benefit of others. We
find that altruism, as well as the person who possesses it, is regarded as the friend of all, and it becomes the object of veneration and respect by others.

More to make you warm and fuzzy.

Compassion can be put into practice if one recognizes the fact that every human being is a member of humanity and the human family regardless of differences in religion, culture, color and creed.

Whether we are rich or poor, educated or uneducated, whatever our nationality, color, social status, or ideology may be, the purpose of our lives is to be happy.

It is the nature of human beings to yearn for freedom, equality and dignity. If we accept that others have a right to peace and happiness equal to our own, do we not have a responsibility to help those in need? All human beings, whatever their cultural or historical background, suffer when they are intimidated, imprisoned, tortured or discriminated against. The question of human rights is so fundamentally important that there should be no difference of views on this.

I totally got this visual of a guy wearing dark sunglasses, Bermuda shorts, Hawaiian shirt and a Panama hat.

Elena, does he have a white triangle for a nose? Is the shirt so bright you could see him from fifty miles away in an Arctic Snowstorm?

I visualized socks'n'sandals too though. Bad idea. Your feet overheat when you hit the sand, and sand-dirt is really hard to get out of white socks too.

Also, if you go to a nudist beach Mayo, don't bring bread to feed the birds. For obvious reasons.

Hallo Ergo!

I'm just heading off again for a bit actually. Tried my wig on today and I have big gaps of hair sticking out everywhere, so I just got on to find something to rectify that with. Ugh, more work on this wig.

Anyway, I'll be around later!

ergoproxy said...

no worries amy, I'm doing the school drop off, finishing marking yr 8 exams then working for a couple of hours, so I'll be back later too, see you then

elena said...

Ergo

Not sure if I’ll be around when you come back so I wanted to tell you something before I forget. I found a copy of a book I’ve wanted to share with you. It’s called “A Small Dark Place.” By Martin Schenk. This is one of those books that I read years ago but it has really stayed in my memory and since my memory is sorta like Swiss cheese that means it’s pretty good. I think you will enjoy the book but it is very different. The end really surprised me. Anyway, I’ll send it along in your next package.

Anonymous said...

Hey to anyone here. Hope you had a good Sunday.

Just to let you know I'm giving away volumes 1-6 of the Umbrella Academy if anyone is interested. It's all still brand new and comes in those plastic folders with those cardboards attached to them. I also have the special cover of the first issue with the Eiffel Tower that GW drew.

I initially lost interest in the series, so I'm more than happy to give them away if anyone is interested. You can email me anytime, and I'll send them as soon as possible.

elena said...

Holy crap, BC. You really don't like UA? I love it. Well I'm sure someone will take you up on your offer.

Anonymous said...

Elena, lol, I did like it, I just haven't spent much time reading it, and it's wasting space on my shelves, so I thought it'd be better if I gave them to someone who will enjoy them more than I did.

Sadly, since I first bought the issues, I have only read them once.

Right now I'm more into collecting japanese manga and Buffy comics.

Anonymous said...

Also, if you go to a nudist beach Mayo, don't bring bread to feed the birds. For obvious reasons.

lol amy i really laughed

elena said...

BC

Do you read the Buffy books? I've got tons of them I read once and if you would like any of them just let me know.

elena said...

Oh man, I was having trouble with my visual of Mayo on vacation and now this....a nudist beach?

Just so there are no sandals with socks involved I'm okay with it I guess.

Anonymous said...

Elena, yep. I have a few of them, but ever since I moved, I don't have them with me anymore. Thanks for the offer! Do you know which novels you have?

elena said...

I have lots of them BC. It might be easier if you e-mail me a list of what you have and I'll send you the ones I have that you don't.

Anonymous said...

Elena, I sure will. I'll send an email in a bit. Thanks.

elena said...

Okay BC. I'll be glad to give the books a new home. I enjoyed them and would be happy to pass them along.

Anonymous said...

Thanks elena. I'll be more than happy to send my TUA issues to you if you're missing any :)

elena said...

Thanks BC but I have them all.

What Japanese manga do you read?

Original Punk J said...

Halloo? People still home?

Anonymous said...

Hi there J, good to see you! How are you?

Elena, honestly, there's so many manga titles out it's so hard to choose, which can be kinda overwhelming, but right now I'm reading this new series called St. Dragon girl, it's about a girl who's a skilled martial artist, and her friend fights off demons, but together they try to fight off a demon called the Serpent King who's trying to find a bride of his own.

There's only one volume out so far, but it's pretty good. Another series I read is called Vampire Knight, and GALS, both are pretty good, but there's still so much I want to check out :O

elena said...

Hey J

Good to see ya. I'm sorta here but it's time to get the slumbering giant up for work so I'll be in and out for a bit.

Anonymous said...

The Spike and Dru book was cool, but I can't remember the name of it.

Original Punk J said...

Hi BC, doing pretty well, I guess. Apparently still recovering from the Martian Death Flu, you know that slightly icky feeling that comes and goes? That's the one. Right now, it's gone, so I'm pleased. :)

How are you doing?

Speaking of manga, I got L the "Princess Ai" compilation for Christmas, she really likes it. Have you read that one?

Anonymous said...

Hey there anon. I heard it was good, although I don't remember the title since it's been out for a while now.

There is a comic in one of the Buffy omnibus books that focuses on Spike and Dru. I read it once at the bookstore and thought it was pretty good. It took place I think in the 1800's in France or something.

elena said...

Anon there are actually quite a few books with Spike and Dru. I have to admit I always liked her. So wonderfully insane and I loved how Spike tried to care for her when she wasn't driving him crazy!

Original Punk J said...

Hey Elena, hi Anon, how's things?

Elena, I hear ya. Good luck with that. ;)

L says HI to all. She's on the couch, engrossed in a biography of Oscar Wilde. O_o

I've told you, she reads EVERYthing.

Anonymous said...

J, you still have the flu? How long have you've had it? I'm glad you feeling a bit better.

I never read Princess Ai, although I wanted to try it out for some time now.

Too many manga to choose though :/

Anonymous said...

*waves to L*

Original Punk J said...

*L waves back* :D

See, the MDF just likes to hang and hang and hang. I don't have the actual "flu" symptoms, I just feel icky, usually early in the day. Still have congestion, so part of it's the sinus problems. Besides, whatever I have illness-wise clings to me b/c of the diabetes thing. Takes longer to heal.

L said Princess Ai was really really good. She loves Courtney Love, anyway, so she really enjoyed the manga.

Hallo BC. My brain is definitely taxed, for sure.

Lolling Nudist Anon from earlier, you are welcome for the laugh.

Amyranth said...

Amyranth said...

LOL, BC.

People are bringing their kids to 10pm showings of Watchmen, and getting pissed off when they find out that it's not Spiderman or Superman or The Jonas Brothers 3D Experience.

Some lady was ranting about it today in the paper, that nobody told her when she bought her tickets that it was an adult film.

Just because something ends with "-man" doesn't mean it's the kind of superhero movie you want your kids to see.

Hello! Orgazmo!

ergoproxy said...

goodnight TJ sweet dreams

ergoproxy said...

What is the rating on the movie?

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure if I should call that lady an idiot then. Either that, or just plain lazy on her part. They played the commercials all the time, and she didn't bother to see that it was R-rated?

Sheesh.

Ergo, overhere, the movie is R-rated, so you have to bring a parent with you if you're under 17.

Original Punk J said...

People don't think for themselves much anymore. They're quick to say, "Well nobody told me blah blah blah". It's not others' responsibility to TELL you everything. She could've looked at the ad in the paper, or called the theatre to ask about the plot.

Its much too easy to lay the blame at someone else's feet. That way, it's never your fault.

toujours said...

mayo,

it's tax time for me, too -- i've been working on them for awhile now, and never seem to get done. there's always another w-2 to get or schedule to fill out. last year also wreaked havoc on my taxes.

today i just got so fed up. most of my difficulty comes from one employer, and it made me so angry today to realize just how much they screwed me up.

yes, i had a bit of a tantrum. yes, i succumbed to tax-rage.

anyway, after i had calmed down -- sat in the guest room with the door closed and watched the thunderstorms and the spring flowers under my window being spangled with rain -- i had this moment where i suddenly asked myself "what the hell am i doing here?"

have you ever had a moment like that? suddenly, nothing makes sense.

that's what i learned about exploring when i was in england, rambling through the countryside...there always comes a time when you are sure you are lost. even if you have a map, all of a sudden, you won't know if that oak tree in fromt of you is the same as the one on the map, or if you should've climbed over the stile in the field behind you.

it doesn't last very long, and usually if you just keep on walking forward the path will resolve itself around you, but oh man, it is not fun to suddenly lose where you are.

but the flowers were beautiful, and the rain smelled so good.

good night, mayo. remember to stop and look around you when you get lost. you don't have to smell the roses but at least compliment them on their pretty colors.

Amyranth said...

I agree J, you can't rely on someone else to tell you when something might be bad for you. Common sense is not common anymore, and it's a damn shame.

I mean really, does Rorschach look like a Peter Parker kinda guy to you? His face is a moving inkblot for christ's sake!

J, exactly. And knowing the hype around the film, they were constantly showing the commercial more than a few times a day.

gosh you know if a movie is R I'd say it's not appropriate for anyone under 17 really, I mean a parent has to be aware it's R for a reason, that's just stupid

but is part of the whole "nobody specifically told me exactly that" so it's not her fault of course

Have you been to London? That would be a cool place to go. Just keep in mind: Buckingham Palace is NOT a nudist zone, like Mayo's beach is.

Although if you wanted to, you could probably saunter past "au natural". You know, just to see if the guards ever DO change facial expressions. ;)

Mayo

So in keeping with the vacation line of thinking, and since I’m pretty bored today, I’ve decided to be your travel agent. Oh the places you will go. Okay last night you were at the beach (maybe sans clothing) I’m not sure. Anyway today I visualized you at a campground in Colorado. Yep, Mountain Man Mayo. Let’s see you’ve got on a flannel plaid shirt and jeans. Oh and a ball cap. Yeah, but I can’t decide if it has a logo or a funny saying on it. Crap, I really don’t think that matters. So there you are. Got your tent all set up by a mountain stream. Got your campfire all ready just waiting to be lit. You even remembered marshmallows. I am impressed. Night fall, the temp drops and you light the fire. Yeah, that is nice. Sitting on a cooler (who needs chairs?) just watching the flames. Enjoying the night sounds and occasionally looking up at the stars. Shit, I just realized I’m giving you one of my vacation memories. Oh well I like to share. I just remember how peaceful that was and how I loved to look up at the stars. Out near Leadville Co when you look up it’s like a million twinkling lights. It made me feel so small yet so important. Once again not making sense but that was how it was. I miss that. I miss the hooting of the owls, the crackling of the flames, the brisk night air. Funny I had convinced myself that I’d never go camping again and that I didn’t miss it at all. I do lie to myself, don’t I?

Well there you go Mayo. That was your vacation spot for the day. Hope you enjoyed it. Tomorrow you’ll be in a new place doing something else. But for tonight, look up at those stars. Maybe you’ll feel what I did.

Night Mayo

Elena (When I look up into the night I count the stars all shining bright I wonder where I am and where I’m going) *

Hello Mayo, SS, Ergo, Elena, Sweetcheeks, Amy, J (L, probably in bed by now), Carrie, various anons, various lurkers and various watchers!!!

How are you all?

*hugs everyone*

I must get my chatting schedule back to normal! Nude beaches, icecream, talk of Spike, TAXES. I missed all the good stuff again!

Yes, I do think tax time is good stuff. Ha! I'm such an accounting nerd. I love it! I do!!! All those numbers, the brain juices flowing, the sounds of the "adding machine" printing out the paper (so you can check for mistakes)... the accounting teacher handing over the schools books to you (because she and the school's accountant had been trying to find their mistake for over a week ~ and you find it in a little over 30 minutes)! Awwww.... I love bookkeeping/accounting!!! What can I say? It's in my blood!

Note: Anyone requiring help with their taxes, please feel free to e~mail the digits to me!

Ergo: How are things going in Australia? I hope Hamish hasn't done too much damage!
*smooooooooch*

Sweetcheeks: How was your Sunday? Good, I hope!

TJ: How's work going? Have you moved on to a new house yet?

Elena: Sandy Ann and I are still waiting for that picture of Jake!

J: It's so good to see you posting again!!! I've missed you (and L). I hope the remnants of the martian death flu dissipate soon!

I think that is all for now.

Goodnight, everyone! Sweet dreams to one and all!

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

Welcome, strangers, to the show
I'm the one who should be lying low
Saw the knives out, turned my back
Heard the train coming, stayed out on the track
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things

Caught the fever, heard the tune
Thought I loved her, hung my heart on the moon
Started howling, made no sense
Thought my friends would rush to my defence
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things

And I get all your good advice
It doesn't stop me from going through these things twice
I see the knives out, I turn my back
I hear the train coming, I stay right on that track
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I've done all the dumb things
I melted wax to fix my wings
I've done all the dumb things
I threw my hat into the ring
I've done all the dumb things
I thought that I just had to sing
I've done all the dumb things

- To Her Door
They got married early, never had no money
Then when he got laid off they really hit the skids
He started up his drinking, then they started fighting
He took it pretty badly, she took both the kids
She said: "I'm not standing by, to watch you slowly die
So watch me walking, out the door, out the door, out the door"
She said, "Shove it, Jack, I'm walking out the fucking door"

She went to her brother's, got a little bar work
He went to the Buttery, stayed about a year
Then he wrote a letter, said I want to see you
She thought he sounded better, she sent him up the fare
He was riding through the cane in the pouring rain
On Olympic to her door
To her door
To her door
To her door

He came in on a Sunday, every muscle aching
Walking in slow motion like he'd just been hit
Did they have a future?
Would he know his children?
Could he make a picture and get them all to fit?
He was shaking in his seat riding through the streets
In a silvertop to her....
Shaking in his seat riding through the streets
In a silvertop to her door
To her door
To her door
To her door

Happy Monday Mayo,

My best friend’s father passed away this weekend. He wasn’t a nice man or a good man when we were growing up. He was heavy handed and quick to judge. My friend took care of him anyway. She didn’t have to. Nobody else was willing to suck it up and take care of him so she did it. For 6 years. Not only did she not complain, she said that she was glad for the opportunity to get to know him differently. Their relationship was rebuilt and I think she forgave him or at least decided to forget. She learned about herself and about him. I’m glad she had that time with him and I admire her for being so generous and self-less. It makes me ponder things about myself.

Honestly, I don’t know if I’d be a good caretaker for some of the people in my life. What can I say? I’m human. Certain people really fucked me up and I still hold a grudge.

It's been so nice here lately. OPJ came back. Then We have Amy, BC, Wendy...... the TRUE friends, the friends of this blog. Porchies (MOSTLY) gone but in short while what's left of them will probably filter out.

This is the way it should be.

If you deny that, you are obviously pretending. (Lying).

And the REASON there has been no attacks in a while is because the people who need to be put in their place are mostly gone.

Think about it.

No cliques. No "secret" behaviour. No "I'm better than you" attittude, no constant poetry, movie quotes just to upset Amyranth, no political talk, and no "I disagree with what you think so I'm going to ignore you" attittude.

If they can stay gone then the blog will stay peaceful. They should have realized that a log time ago. Maybe they did and they just didn't care.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Five Chinese ships including a Chinese naval vessel harassed a U.S. Navy ship in the South China Sea on Sunday, at one point closing to within 25 feet of the ocean surveillance ship, the Pentagon said.

A Defense Department statement said the Chinese vessels "shadowed and aggressively maneuvered in dangerously close proximity" to the USS Impeccable, which was conducting routine operations in international waters 75 miles south of Hainan Island.

The Pentagon identified the Chinese vessels as a Navy intelligence ship, a bureau of maritime fisheries patrol vessel, a state oceanographic administration patrol vessel, and two small Chinese-flagged trawlers.

The Pentagon said the U.S. ship was operated by a civilian crew under contract with the Defense Department and accused the Chinese vessels of violating international law.

"We will be certainly letting the Chinese officials know of our displeasure with respect to this careless and reckless, unprofessional ... maneuver," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told reporters.

The reason someone thought school was out to lunch was because they thought you where a kid in school because of your maturity level.

Just like the rest of them..... if you don't agree that Amy was right and that it is better without all of that attittude they brought, then you must be immature.

THAT is one of the MANY attitudes I was happy to see GONE from here.

Anonymous said...

What about your shitty attitude? How is that so fucking great? Nobody was saying anything against anyone, and suddenly you just seem to decide things are too quiet so you poke poke poke.

I know I'm lucky to be an American.

I still believe in the freedom of speech. Do you?

The USA traipses all over the world and then wonders why other countries have issues with us when we are invading their space. What is wrong with this picture?

I love America, but I question it's government and their actions.

We were in international waters . Probably cause we were asked to go there. They're the ones violating international law.

Why is it strange to say they were put in their place? Think about it. They were over running the blog and some of them even SAID they didn't care about the blog. What gave them the right to act like that? To constantly spam with poetry and quotes, and to ignore people who asked them not to?

You mean like the maturity level that existed here before. Yes. That was wonderful. Stick their head in a bucket of whats? Douche what? Dick who?

Too bad they never heard of the apology and the peace rose. That's usually taught in 2nd grade.

Please read The Fix again. Amy made a point of saying this. You can scroll all you want and ignore it all you want, but it is STILL THERE. That is what no one seems to get.

Anonymous said...

I thought they said they believed in freedom of speech. Their own words have proved them hypocrites. Deleting comments has too.

Anonymous said...

Telling someone to not spam the blog with poetry in quotes does NOT take away their freedom of speech.

It DOES politely tell them to stop doing it. They don't HAVE to stop. But it would be the mature thing to do.

Did they? No, if I remember, they laughed about it and made jokes towards the people their games were hurting.

How long ago was that?

Who are all the porchies anyway?

Is it only the 4 that you constantly blather about or are there more?

She is probably talking about Smoke and Sdock. I have never heard them say anything bad to anyone. The anon just don't like anybody that is friends with Kapunua. Isn't that right anon?

There is more than one anon here. Things were quiet. Now things are not. Do you believe in freedom speech "some other anonymous" and 3:06?

If you do then you must believe the other anons can say what's on their minds. And if you don't like it you can say you don't. What you shouldn't do is try to insult them by calling them immature or some other inaccurate adjective for having an opinion different from yours.

No. It wasn't. I'm sure Kapu's poem poking and mocking Amy is still up at the porch. Isn't it? I'm sure they have taken the word "cunts" off of the header by now. They can't deny it was there.

Anonymous said...

Things were quiet. Now things are not.

If you want quiet why don't you take a nap? Is there a rule of how many times you can comment or something?

Anonymous said...

I object to when anybody is called a name. Whether you're a blue name or not.

Yes, I could leave. But why should I? I've been here since the beginning.

Anonymous said...

No. It wasn't. I'm sure Kapu's poem poking and mocking Amy is still up at the porch. Isn't it?

Does that mean you are one of the porchies? You must of gone over there to read it. Seriously, why dwell on this. I enjoy everyone who comes here. When people come on that you don't like you don't always have to say something bad about them.

Anonymous said...

It's not the porchies that make this a bad place it's the anons that always say hurtful things when someone they don't like makes a comment.

more information on China's violation of international law

White House: US will operate in South China Sea

The Associated Press
Monday, March 9, 2009; 2:01 PM

WASHINGTON -- The White House says it expects China to respect international law, in particular for vessels operating in the South China Sea.

The Pentagon says five Chinese ships shadowed and maneuvered dangerously close to a U.S. Navy vessel in international waters.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday the United States will continue to operate in those international waters. And he says the Chinese must observe international law. Gibbs says the U.S. has protested the action.

Defense officials in the administration said the incident Sunday followed several days of "increasingly aggressive" acts by Chinese ships in the region.

I'm tired of the relentless persecution of more than 4 people. Damn shame you only see and express concern for those 4. How about some compassion for Amy, for OPJ, black names and anons? That's right. They deserved what they got

No they did not. Just like you talked about the porchies, they have anons that say stupid things to them too. I do not think it is right for anyone to come here and comment and a moment later a anon will pop up with something mean to say.

I think that is between them and not anons to keep bring it up over and over.

Anonymous said...

When have they been persecuted lately? I'm not sure, but maybe you could direct me to something recent?

Kapu, Smoke, SDock, and Fimble are constantly harrassed - and they're hardly here anymore.

Nobody deserves to get anything bad.

But hey, if that's how you want to perceive this electronic world, knock your sock off.

Anonymous said...

I also think things wouldn't be so bad, if anons wouldn't keep bringing things up and putting words in other's mouths.

Anonymous said...

Frankly, I don't see anybody being "persecuted". I've never had. I've seen a lot of hypocrisy and double standards. No "persecution". Unless you want to continue to think or yourself or a group of people as the perpetual victims. Amy sure hell doesn't consider herself a victim. She's proven that time and again. Mya didn't either. Or MJ. More respect to them. They are truly strong women. Even though they never claimed to be feminists. Their actions speak much louder than words ever could.

I do not consider myself a victim. Not in my life and certainly not on a blog.

I consider persecution as those having their personal information spilled out onto the net by others. On purpose and having a malicious intent.

I consider persecution being called horrid names for no reason time and time again.

None of those things have happend to me yet I've seen it occur here quite a few times.
