Today on my way home from class, I stopped off at the petrol station for some petrol. I paid on my card which wasn’t a lot, and then as I was getting into my car, I saw an old man walking past the building. He had a red and green stripy jumper which was frayed at the ends. He was also wearing some jeans that were dirty and had holes all over.
I sat there and became intrigued by him because I didn’t know what he was doing, so as I sat there and watched him, he continued doing what he set out to do.
He walked past the trash cans and first picked out a cup with some drink still in it (one of the cups that you get from burger king that has coke in it). He then walked over to the next trash can and pulled out the end of a half eaten sandwich. In my shock horror, he ate it and then went to sit on the wall to drink the drink he had found.
I felt sad, I wanted to give him my last $4 that I had but I was told when I was younger that you should never give people money, you should give them something they need or can use because that way, if they had an addiction, they would not be able to use the money for their addiction. So I went into the shop and bought a chicken sandwich from their deli counter and then walked out of the building.
The guy was still sat at the wall drinking his drink so I walked up to him and asked him if he would like this sandwich. He thanked me and said that he was hungry.
I should of felt good after that, doing something for someone else but all I could think of is where his next meal will come from or where in fact he will sleep tonight.

Once upon a time, for me, that was the best part of this place...having my words related back to me from another's perspective.

Don't let anyone tell you how to live your life. Hold your head up high and be proud of who you are. If you've had a shitty day and you feel like people just don't want you to be happy, and when you find yourself struggling to make it through the day, just keep on believing and keep the faith. Also, from personal experience, don't push people away. When they say they want to help and that they are there for you, let them in. Believe me, I know how fucking scary that thought is, but don't shut others out.

Sometimes, when you look back on stuff in your life, you know, the crap that makes you shake your head and say, "Holy shit, what the Hell was I thinking?" it's part of what makes you - you.
I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I have made small mistakes and really big, fucking scary mistakes. Would I change those mistakes and blunders?
No. Wanna know why?
Because they make me - me. They help make up the person that I am, what I've learned the hard way. Hopefully I've learned from my mistakes and have become a better person for it. And, hopefully I don't repeat those same mistakes. Although, sometimes I repeat variations of certain ones, but I'm working on that. :)

Electric Blue
…today I saw a ulysses butterfly it was in our yard and settled to feed on our hibiscus. They really are fantastically beautiful things, the electric blue is amazing, however as they sit with their wings closed they are rather nondescript and dull. Sometimes people are like that, from the outside they seem unappealing but within there hides an amazing beauty for those lucky enough to see it. I hope you appreciate beauty in all things, and look for it perhaps where others miss it.

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.
I read your post again and suddenly without warning memories of construction paper filled my head. I remembered all the lop-sided flowers my girls made when they were young. Bright blue, yellow and pink flowers that were cut out with blunt end scissors would fill the windows to decorate for Easter. An occasional bunny was attempted but those usually ended up looking like creatures from a horror movie. Flowers were so much easier. I can close my eyes and hear the paper being cut into petals. I can smell the Elmer’s glue squirted on in huge blobs to attach each misshapen petal to form the flowers. We had a huge arts and crafts box full of wonderful items just waiting for their imaginations to turn into something wonderful. In my mind I see my daughters, as they once were, small, blond little girls sitting on the floor surrounded by scraps of paper and other art supplies. They would create their masterpieces then proudly show each other. Oh and Lord the messes that would ensue if the glitter made an appearance. Now, the box is forgotten. I’m not really sure where it even is anymore. The few flowers so lovingly created that survived are faded and dusty and high on a shelf they sit. Time marches on, so many things get left behind.
Today was the first Easter I spent alone. I don’t think it really upset me until I remembered the construction paper flowers. Of course I understand that my daughters are growing up and have lives of their own. But understanding doesn’t make it any easier to accept. I miss my little girls in their frilly Easter dresses. BC four wheelers are fun, much easier than a motorbike, but you have to be careful, they tip and roll really easily and lots of people get injured or killed on them.
if we see the rescue chopper fly over you have a pretty good chance of it being a 4 wheeler accident if it wasn't a car accident
Ergo, that sucks then. If I do try it, it's wearing a helmet and whatever other equipment for me.
BC really unless you are doing silly stuff they are good, people take passengers then try and go up steep hills or go too fast.
We use them fairly often with farm stuff, we don't have one but friends do

Just finished watching a movie Catch and Release. I LOVE Kevin Smith!! Yes I do. He didn't write it. I knew he didn't. Wasn't from a guy's persepective but a woman's. He did however, co-direct it and you could definately see his influence there. he was hysterical. One look from that man and I crack up!
No, I don't normally like "girly flicks" (there are some exceptions)but it was pretty good if I do say so myself and I did. ;)

Thanks for writing and sharing, however small and quickly thrown together it may have been.(IMO it was ;) Not bad for being thrown together quickly. Especially if it caught my eye. I read in The Mail that Britain has the highest rate of teen pregnancy in Europe, apparently the media feels it's becoming a pretty big issue. I guess some kids have no idea what contraception is, and others are given it, and essentially told to "be careful" and that's about it.
However, we'll have to hear from our Eyes and Ears in Europe to get the real deal, I suppose.

It was lovely to see a new post. A very nice Valentines gift. My day didn’t go exactly as planned (but truly when do they?). Instead of a horror movie in honor of the day Star Wars Episode II totally sucked me in. Yeah, it doesn’t matter that I have it on DVD if I’m flipping channels and any Star Wars is on then I’m hooked.
Anyway back to your post. I love the first poem. It is beautiful but somehow haunting. To me it sounds as if the writer wants so desperately to truly feel complete love but something is missing. The coldness in the fingertips betrays. The palms, the hands are willing to stay they revel in the warmth found in love yet the fingers are still cold. Love has not touched every part of their being. Yep, I’m truly thinking too much again but hey, you said it’s interesting to hear your words related back and to my ear that is what I heard. Then again what do I know? Each day I find I know less.

J, apparently, she was injured on a job she worked at some mental facility a few years ago.
Some pacient there threw a chair or something that directly hit against her back or something. She got awarded $165,000 and so from there, she couldn't work anymore.
J, she used to work in a Mental Facility, until one of the patients went berserk and threw a table at her, which nailed her in the back. It damaged her spine and she can't sit or stand for a long period of time.
But, she can carry 8 unborn fetuses. Go figure.
Kids are a blessing, but the same thing happens back in Nova Scotia, they become a source of income for a lot of women.

smoke was there some thing about the fuel supply for the race? I saw something on the news.
Oh, I don't know! Could have been. Right now they are worried about the tire wear which is crazy and makes it more about new tire and pit strategy than actual racing. It sucks. And then they have blow outs after ten to fifteen laps. Craziness. I haven't heard about the fuel though.
it makes the race drag on so much if they have to keep heading to the pits, do they normally have tire worries after so few laps?
I saw the nascar truck racing on tv last night, those things seem to slide off at the drop of a hat!
our endurance race is the Bathurst 1000 (it's km) and is a touring circuit in October each year, I always watch it
It really depends on which track they are at but Daytona has been kind of bad the last couple of years when it comes to tires. Lowe's Motor Speedway is pretty rough, too. Tony always gets pissed off with Goodyear and goes off on them which in turn pisses off NASCAR. NASCAR is never happy with Tony's mouth though. LOL!

Through Facebook, I just got in touch with three friends I haven't seen in about ten years. I met them through the internet and we actually went to Disneyworld together, just like Fim, Solly, Smoke and I all did.
Ten years and it's like we never fell out of touch!
Friendships that form through similar interests on the internet, through lists, groups, and even blogs, can be just as enduring as the ones you make through school, work etc.
This one was through a mailing list. And believe me when I tell you that as far as drama goes, that mailing list had its share of it, too. (Although no one really crossed any boundaries into real life, still there were divisions etc. ) It was the old AIC mailing list, actually, that's where we all met.
It's so damn weird to be talking to these awesome people again, especially after so much has changed. (And the fandom that started it all is destroyed.)

I'm pissed. WTF with NASCAR? Just WTF? They called the race because of rain with 48 laps to go. What happened to finishing it the next day? Hello! I'd be so pissed if I had actually drove down to Daytona for the race and that happened. >.<
Tony finished 8th though. Yay for Tony!

Nope, it's over! It's done! Finished! And it sucks! Used to, if it started raining like that, they would just wait and finish the race the next day. I don't know why they decided to just go ahead and call it. 48 laps is like at least another hour of racing! Grrrrr!!!
That blows! Yeah, if I had gone down there I would be pretty pissed off. Heck, I'd be pretty pissed if I was just trying to watch it on TV.
Plus, Daytona is the kind of place that it really doesn't matter until the last lap. You never know who's gonna win until the very end. So everyone basically has a shot at it. It just sucks to start the season out that way. Boo!
