tic-tac-toe

Nothing provokes me like someone trying to tell me what I can or can’t do. And I am not talking about “Eat your vegetables”, “Take out the trash”, "Don't run a red light", "Don't steal shit", or "Don't stick a knife in someone" (well maybe the red light thing, once). That stuff is important and I get that. What I mean is when someone is attempting to assert control over me, primarily for their own gains or because they consider my actions irrelevant, then I am full-on instigated.

In fact, I can be a bit immature when confronted with authority. A holdover from adolescence, I presume. For the most part, because I am an adult I am able to identify when the limitations being placed on me are legitimate and necessary. And I bite my tongue.

But, nothing pleases me more than to shove it in the face of whatever or whoever attempts to assert unnecessary control over me. Tell me I’m too old to do something, to act a certain way, then you can bet I’ll be first in line. Tell me what I say is irrelevant and I’ll carry on until I find an ear. Attempt to limit my behavior because you don’t consider me worthy and I’ll increase my efforts until you are red faced.

What amazes me is that they (those attempting control) do not understand that their assertions invariably expose their hot buttons. See, now I know what pisses you off and I can be an asshole, so there you go. But, like I said, I can be a bit immature.

Also, I find it unnecessary for someone to belittle a person because their opinion does not run parallel to their own. Typically, name calling will get you nowhere. We are each entitled to our own beliefs, and our opinions will undoubtedly run counter to other's. And if I don't agree, I'll let you know. I'll give you my point of view and perhaps some facts that I may have squirreled away for the occasion to back it up.

Usually this works and we can agree to disagree. But, if you are maliciously handing me my head over and over about whatever burns your ass, then I will most likely ignore you.

That works in two ways. First, I don't hear you any longer. I can continue my life knowing that I made an attempt to express my opinion. And hopefully you now realize you are not going to change mine. Second, I don't hear you any longer.

Then later, under my breath, I'll call you an idiot. And let's face it, if after all that you still think you can change my opinion...well now, we don't need to go there. Just for the record, I won't try to change yours, either. Your opinion, that is.

With all that being said, (and feel free to ignore any of it) please keep in mind that I am a bit of a smart ass. And I have been known to dish out a good natured hard-time. If you poke me, I'll poke you back...sometimes I poke first.

I think I read somewhere something along the lines of...we need to be able to best deal with those things that impact us emotionally, and we need to handle them ourselves. As individuals the decisions we make are what we can control. The rest is up to the rest.

p.s. ask yourself.

WTF LOL, what I dont get is that Kapu is talking about not wanting to "elevate Mayo above the rest" when that's all her and her cliquey friends ever do! Isn't that ironic? LOL

Anonymous said...

Condescending and arrogant attitude. I expect nothing less, Kapunua, and you don't disappoint.

Elena, you don't have to apologize. He wouldn't have cared anyway.

You deserve better than the way he treats you and so many others here. You're a good, kind person who tries to take care of everyone.

With that, I'm gone too.

Don't forget that SHE always talks about a BOY who is younger than her too. But I guess THAT is OK.

How is it that OPJ gets called "creepy" all the time for flirting with SS yet Kapu always flirts with that young boy and no one ever calls her on it? What is the difference here people because I don't see it.

This blog is one big double standard if you ask me.

Now we're these people.

That's much different from the anons that kiss her ass. They're called nice anons.

We have committed the greatest sin ever. We disagree with her and we voice our opinions.

Strange. She never called me weird, mean, nasty, these people when I played her quote games with her. When I started them and she joined in. I was one of the nice anons at those times.

Very strange.

You see the humor there too! It's hilarious isn't it?

Let's all play the "kiss Mayo's ass so he'll like us more" game tonight. Let's all fawn and tell him how wonderful he is so he'll pay more attention to us.

Even if he doesn't really pay more attention to us. We can pretend.

I'll start.

Mayosama you are sooooo amaaaazing and OMG spiffy and fimmtastic. I get so sexcited everytime I see you. I even wake up from sleep 'cus all the times I've said goodnite and you've posted I've woken up and run here to be wit you, son. No I'm not a Mayo fangirl. No. I can't be. You know how I hate those little GW fangirls. I would never be a fangirl for anybody.
OK for you I will. Cause you iz the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Obvious much?

Sorry. That didn't get me off. I hope it works for all of them.

I admit that I'm pretty much a stereotypical fat dumb American who is mostly too lazy to boycott anything. Although I do like to read all the debates amongst the intelligent people, you guys can express yourselves so eloquently. And no, I am not being sarcastic, I do wish I could do that. I suck at debating.

How is that strange? You were being nice..... now you're not.

Boycott Japan and Korea and China? Please, you would have to live on a different planet to make all of you happy, lol!

Go to bed anons.... or don't you have jobs?? Seriously who WAS it who was up all night last night writing the same thing over and over again until 5 in the morning??

Anonymous said...

11:09 I thought "Solly" was writing that.

Ug and the nick names for each other, sorry but it is just cliquey and stupid. I feel like I'm in high school.

Second 11:13,

Carrie said...

So what did you anon guys do today? I sat around, did laundry, dreaded work, then went to work where my dread was justified by the insane amount of people I had to wait on, and then I came home and plopped down.

Anonymous said...

Yah 11:10. Whatchoo doing up? Don't you have a job? A webcam that makes playing on the web all nite more sexciting. That'll keep you up all nite. You should get one.

I should too. I just get invited to view my friends. I like it.

Anonymous said...

Hi Carrie. Whatchoo doing tonight?

Carrie said...

Oh, and 10:44, this part I totally agree with:

Do you not get upset when someone you thought was your friend turns on you? Who doesn't even say WHY they don't give a shit about you anymore?

But it's not for Mayo reasons.

Carrie said...

Hey anon, nothing much. Just destressing from working and getting my ducks in a row to start WW Online tomorrow. Maybe I can at least be a less fat dumb American. :)

Also Mayo, I sure am sorry that everytime you go on your own blog to make a comment, drama follows you. I'm also sorry that you can't say anything to, about, around, (insert preposition of choice) me or anyone associated with me, past present or future for better or for worse, without people getting all up in your grill and saying that Mayo this and Mayo that and blah blah blah.

LOL

well carrie I haven't heard which pretty much means there is no part time there

I'll go see them tomorrow

Carrie said...

Is it because of school budget constraints? Or do they just want a full time person versus part time?

ergoproxy said...

they want full time, and the student numbers dictate the staffing. All the staffing is done by the ed dept for the region. Individual schools have very little say.

but I sort of feel guilty feeling bad for myself

UK judges accuse Obama Administration of suppressing torture claim

The US has threatened to withhold intelligence from the UK if evidence of the alleged torture of a British resident held at Guantánamo Bay is made public.

Details of how the “terrorist” detainee was allegedly tortured — and what UK intelligence services knew about it — must remain secret because of the American threats, the High Court ruled yesterday.

Lord Justice Thomas and Mr Justice Lloyd Jones said lawyers for the Foreign Secretary had told them that the threat by the US still applied under President Obama. Oppostion MPs accused the Government of giving in to blackmail.

The disclosure that the US has threatened to re-evaluate sharing intelligence with Britain came only 24 hours after Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, lavished praise on the special relationship between the two countries.

Noting that it is contrary to the rule of law not to release the evidence, the judges said that it must remain secret otherwise “the public of the United Kingdom would be put at risk”.

Binyam Mohamed, a British resident held at the base on Cuba, has launched a High Court challenge in London seeking that documents detailing his treatment to be made public.

But the judges ruled that David Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, had said that releasing the evidence could lead to America “revaluating” its intelligence sharing with the “real risk that it would reduce the intelligence provided”. The judges added: “It was and remains (so far as we are aware) the judgment of the Foreign Secretary that the United States Government might carry out that threat and this would seriously prejudice the national security of the United Kingdom.”

The judges called on the Obama Administration to reconsider. “If the information in the redacted paragraphs, which we consider so important to the rule of law, free speech and democratic accountability, is to be put into the public domain, it must now be for the United States Government to consider changing its position or itself putting that information into the public domain.”

The Foreign Office insisted that it had not “engaged in detail” with the new Administration about the judgment in what appeared to be an attempt to minimise the embarrassment to Mr Obama.

The ruling discloses that the secret documents at the centre of the case — seven paragraphs amounting to 25 lines — “give rise to an arguable case of torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment” against Mr Mohamed.

It is also said that a British intelligence official may have been present when Mr Mohamed alleges that he was tortured. This raises the prospect of charges being brought against British officials.

David Davis, the former Shadow Home Secretary, called for the Government to explain what had happened. The US threat was a “matter of utmost importance” and urged Mr Miliband to “come clean”.

Clive Stafford Smith, Mr Mohamed’s lawyer, accused Britain of “capitulation to blackmail, pure and simple”. Last night Mr Miliband said that Britain’s continuing intelligence relationship with the US depended on mutual trust. “There has been no threat from the United States to ‘break off’ intelligence co-operation,” he told Channel 4 News.

“Intelligence co-operation depends on confidentiality. We share our secrets with other countries and they share their secrets with us. The founding principle for us and for them is that we can trust the confidentiality of that relationship. In this case, the United States made it clear, in documents that have been published, that there would inevitably be serious and lasting harm if that fundamental principle was breached.”

Mr Miliband said that there was no indication that the US position had changed under President Obama. He added: “We never condone or authorise the use of torture.”

The White House National Security Council said: “The United States thanks the UK Government for its continued commitment to protect sensitive national security information.”

Interesting. How the Bush administration created this legal black hole, where inhumane treatment and torture were free of the Geneva conventions.

Oh, but I forgot, we must boycott China.

Thank goodness we have celebrities speaking out about the injustices of this world /sarcasm.

Now, I am happy for anyone to start discussing and bringing to the fore some of the atrocities of this committed by various rogue governments.

Anon, your "under a rock" comment was silly. It is a well known marketing strategy endorsed by various activity groups and charities to obtain a celebrity name to bring attention to their cause. Some of these people do become committed to their clause. However the majority of the work is done by ordinary people behind the scenes, not celebrities. I would actually pay more attention to an investigative journalist, rather than what an entertainer, who has exceptional living standards, has to say.

And they do not make any impact on these governments. They get banned. The pressure comes from people within a country to put pressure on their politicians to speak out or actively sanction that country. Logic.

Mayo
tonight a song from '79 I really loved and still do, as well as the great silver suits in the video clip

Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star

I heard you on the wireless back in Fifty Two
Lying awake intent at tuning in on you.
If I was young it didn't stop you coming through.

Oh-a oh

They took the credit for your second symphony.
Rewritten by machine and new technology,
and now I understand the problems you can see.

Oh-a oh
I met your children
Oh-a oh
What did you tell them?
Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.

Pictures came and broke your heart.
Oh-a-a-a oh

And now we meet in an abandoned studio.
We hear the playback and it seems so long ago.
And you remember the jingles used to go.

Oh-a oh
You were the first one.
Oh-a oh
You were the last one.

Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.
In my mind and in my car, we can't rewind we've gone to far
Oh-a-aho oh,
Oh-a-aho oh

Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.

In my mind and in my car, we can't rewind we've gone to far.
Pictures came and broke your heart, put the blame on VTR.

You are a radio star.
You are a radio star.
Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star. (You are a radio star.)

hey fasc sdock PP and all the others starting a new week, have a good one

anon, aren't we all flawed? I know I'm not perfect. It's part of what makes us human, and what spurs us to try better and allows us to understand others.

have a good monday

*jumps out of chair*

I am a hypocrite, a jerk, a bitch, a sinner, a lover, a fighter... and a whole lot of other things! I am multi fauceted and flawed and damn proud to be. I'm also damn proud to be an American. As Oprah Winfrey has said, many times:

Women born in America are the luckiest women in the world

That is her opinion and I share it.

*big smile*

Good morning/afternoon/evening Mayo, SS, Ergo, Sweetcheeks, Elena, Amy, GS, Miranth, (for old times sakes the a.m crew) Possum, Kass, RW, DL and Yoda; various anons, watchers and lurkers; my fellow Americans and those accented friends I love so much in the land o'blog!

How are you all today? Did ya'll watch the Grammy's?

Go New Orleans!!!!!!!

A big, huge congratulations to Lil Wayne (whose music I don't really care for but I do love and respect the man), Dr. John, all the other NOLA winners, Allen Toussaint and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band who joined LIl Wayne on stage for an amazing tribute to New Orleans.

Weren't they wonderful? Hell yeah they were!!!

And, one of Lil Wayne's acceptance speeches (he won 4 grammy's):

"Thank God, thank New Orleans, thank these people you see right here, and thank you!"

BRAVO!!!!!!!! That is one good man. We need to get him to do a Metal album!

Another big congratulations to Robert Plant. Hell yeah, again! Okay, he's not from NOLA but he does spent a lot of time here. I think that goes back to Jimmy Page's days of living in New Orleans. Did I ever tell you all about where Jimmy Page met his (now ex~wife) Patty?

Well, he met her at a little place I've mentioned a time or two. The (World Famous) DUNGEON!!!!! She worked there. I love that place! I really do!

I suppose that's enough NOLA pride for this morning. Heck, I am proud of them all! I am sorry that Metallica and Kings Of Leon couldn't win too.
:(

Sweetcheeks: You knew I would ask. You know I always will (as long as I'm here). A day at the mall sounds like fun. Did you meet anyone new? Kat Von D has excellent musical taste, don't you think?
;)
Well, I love her taste! Have a great Monday, Sweetcheeks!

Elena: Thank you, so much, for remembering so many of us and our recent troubles. You are one of the kindest, most caring women I have ever had the pleasure of "meeting". You have a heart of pure gold. I am so proud to call you my friend. You know I love you!

Ergo: I'm glad to hear all your friends are okay. I'm sending my best wishes to you and your countrymen/women.
*smooooooooooch*

GS: Normally, I might get a little upset at being called "lamb"; but, you say it in the glorious UK accent. You know how much I love those accents!
*wink*
Feel free to call me lamb anytime!

L: I miss you so much. I wish you would come back. You were always such a soothing presence (and fun too). Your words are missed. You are missed. So is J. She's rarely around anymore. My love to the both of you too!

I miss so many people around here.

Remember when the halls were full of laughter. Sure we shared sadness and heartache. But, somehow we always managed to leave here with a smile. It seems like such a long time ago...

When Martha told her jokes? When Amy wrote her coffee shop story? The Mayo Gothic by Elena and TJ?

Remember when It's Me "let" me win a scooter to ride around the castle on? Mya being more exited about my prize than I was. When Ergo first spotted Albert? MissT's rubber duckie? Kass' wit? Possum's early morning antics? FASC's car blowing up? Anima's climbing a fence at an MCR concert? Concert anon who became Fang Bang? Pixie and her kind, sweet and gentle nature? PPU and their spunk?
SC, Magic Pie, Safe, Pants of Peace, Elune, Angel, DA, Guardian Angel, WB, ElizaB, Star, Siobhan, Entropy, CTV, Mel, Jade, Gel, Andie, Fruit Punch, Poofed C, Redrum, AG, Professor Anon, The love anons, Cupcake, Paperheart, P anon, Trig, ... so many more.

I think that's what I will ponder today. All of our missing friends.

I hope they all still know that some of us think of them. That they and their words were appreciated. That they were seen and heard and they are in our hearts.... just like Elena said.

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

Ohhhh.... and RW's ballgown of DOOOOM and when Carrie posted her daughter's story...

and Jenn's story that touched so many people...

when Party Sheep and Shaunette first hooked up...

the donut lessons, pool parties, clone machines and bull riding.

I sort of feel like my "blog life" is flashing before my eyes.

*sighs*

Enjoy the day, everyone.

One more thing

Belle: Please let us know how you're doing.

Okay... another thing.... when Lewis first showed up with DAVE! I'm still curious about where that camel came from! Although, I'm not complaining. He is an excellent licker!

Darn!

Mayo: It's nice to see you're alive and kicking. Interesting stance on China.

My stance, if someone offered to pay me 10 million dollars to go there, the answer would be NO.

Just like if someone offered 10 million dollars to buy my mother. NO.

My dogs. NO. My cats, rabbits, turtles? NO.

No, no, no, no and no!

Anon616 said...

I have no problem saying NO. It's a very short word. Only 2 letters. It's not at all difficult to pronounce either!

Anonymous said...

And... I sure as hell won't go to any country where they would sell my nephew into a lifetime of slavery for 75 bucks and skin my dogs and cats alive (with government support). NO!

But, that's just me.

If you do go to China Mayo, I hope you don't have an episode of of "foot in mouth" disease while there. You could end up in a Chinese Jail cell ~ easily. I hear the water is horrible too!

Hi Wendy! How is your Mom? I hope she's well.

*Slides down banister* to relive the memory.

I think there is little that I can add to that which others have already said.

elena - You are a sweetheart and I think well-wishes come with no strings attached, however your kindness shines as a guide for others. I know I haven't kept up with everything here and your concern for others is a reminder to us all.

Wendy - I hope Belle is ok too. I think I must have missed her, unless we are speaking of Cookiebelle? In either case, I hope she is well.

Mayo - Thanks for stopping by. :)

I agree with some of the sentiments expressed about America, which GS also touched on. Documents were recently released that delineated the terrorist tactics taken by the Bush administration during their 8 year reign. Disgusting. Utterly and completely. I can't possibly express the amount of contempt I feel for those involved.

That does not mean, however that the Chinese government is not above my contempt, rather those officials share it.

In fact I find myself always calling into question the actions of those who seek power. And so should we all.

ergo - I am glad that your friends are alright. And thank you for posting the links. *hug*

Hi guys, how are you?

I hope you all had a nice weekend.

I am knackered, been busy today (story at my blog).

See you laterz xxxxx

MissT: I stood there for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out how to pack that gorgeous building and ship it to you. I came to the conclusion Miss~Mohammed~T is simply going to have to go to it! Much like that mountain!
;)
I'll go (back) with you!

I'm packing as we speak.

In response to all the china bashing. I have worked with lots of chinese students for a while now and they are lovely people. You cannot judge a people or a country by what their governments do.

Here is where you all start hating me, but fuck it.

If we did that, there wouldn't be much talking going on here cos I hate America and everything it stands for. But I understand that although you Americans think you live in a democracy, you are very misguided in that idea. But that is not your fault. Your freedoms are very reigned in, you are spied upon and controlled more than you could ever know. But you people are innocent.

Before you Americans start on at other countries, take a long hard look in the mirror. You seem to be under the impression that you run the world, and that your opinions count over all others. Well, let me tell you that the rest of the world is much bigger and more important than America, so please put your big headed ideas to one side. Most of the problems in the world right now are caused by America trying to dictate how everything is run.

Look at Iran. Who the fuck are you to tell them that they can't have the nuclear weapons that you have got. Really, no one died and made you boss. Seriously, fuck off America.

And all the trouble in the middle east is down to you. Israel didn't have the right to exist until you told them to go ahead and steal Palestinian land. Not only that, you gave them the weapons to kill the palestinians. Are you proud of the bombing they have just done on gaza, almost 500 children dead, that is blood on American hands, you did that.

I say America, fuck off back to your own borders and mind your own fucking business.

And don't think I am all proud to be british either cos our country is scum right now. Following you into an illegal war on Iraq cos of believing your lies. And I am under no illusions that we are not a democracy either. the government doesn't listen to us, it does whatever the fuck it wants.

The best countries in the world all have badness in them. Leave off the innocent chinese people. They are terrorised too. If you have to slag off someone, make it the governments of the world, but don't boycott the people. Tourism pays the wages of many of the poor.

I am sure that when K goes to China, it will be to meet the ordinary people and not to pal up with the government, so lighten up.

OK, rant over. You can start hating me now.

Gone.

Anonymous said...

I did not read anyone hating the Chinese people. Most comments were about the regime.

Just sayin!

MissTottenham said...

I know Anon, and I'm not trying to say that that was the main argument, but all the boycott China stuff to me sounds like it is only gonna be the poor people that suffer if that is done. And I don't like that.

And I really don't want anyone to think that I don't feel the same about Britain as I do about America. I am fucked off with both of them. I am not doing an "we are better than you guys at all".

Anyways off to do loads of paperwork now.

Tata and thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Bye.

Well, I'm glad that was not the attitude to South Africa and Apartheid.

Cultural and sporting isolation certainly helped the Anti-Apartheid movement.

I believe similar can help the Chinese people.

proud jerk come back.

farawaysoclose said...

wow blogger is being one slow meffer tonight!!

gotta tell you a little story.

right, when i was working where i used to live in my old job, i visited a patient that had been very neglected. elderly, but not excessively, but clearly no one was caring for him. things were being done but the little things no doubt had been overlooked. so when they realised his feet were in a huge state of neglect he got a domicilliary appt and there i was! (lucky me!) yes his feet were pretty neglected, but my god, and i've seen it in books, his toe nails were amaaaaayzingly long! but because they had some nail matrix damage along the way (pretty normal) they were deformed and long.

imagine that but 3x as long!!

anyway so i sorted out the feet, cut all the nails (took me forfuckingever!). as i was sat there i had such an evil thought in my head and instead of throwing away the nails i put them in a sealed plastic bag and took them home. when i got home i said to mr bloke, "hey do you want the rest of my pack of pork scratchings? the bag burst so i put them in here." i fucking hate pork scratchings cos i am a fussy fucker. so he was probably a little "wtf?" and also i smirk like a twat when i am trying to play a practical joke! but what can you do?! andyway so i got this bag of fucking cut onychogryphotic nails out and thrust it in is face! he's like, oh they are pork scratchings!(it was kinda beautiful!) and then i just said, take a sniff i'm not sure they are quite right though? man these nails were actually sweating in this bag! seriously! fucking sweating! i'm not sure how that is possible. anyway mr bloke is realising something aint right, but he opens the sweating bag and takes a sniff!! man that shit is gag inducing! so fucking funny! seriously i know it's mean but you don't come across a set of nails like that so often in your career. it had to be done!!

haha!

happy days!

hi BC!!

you good?

ergoproxy said...

good morning

and thank you fasc for the most disturbing visual image I've begun my day with for a long time,

hi BC

I see things similar to missT, being in a different country gives you different persectives
I have been to southern China, and seeing the control of the government, the constant presence of the red army, the fact tourists are highly controlled, even to the point of having different money, the disrepair and poverty of so many really gives you a far more personal understanding of the situations.
It is also a magnificent country with beautiful scenery and incredible history, but even they are often neglected.
I am in two minds about chinese tourism. Allowing others in the country does force them to be somewhat more accountable, and allows the introduction of more western ideals, however the treatment of their people remains appalling.
But like missT said, the normal people aren't to blame, and with the towns economies coming to rely on the profit from tourism, it is a two-edged sword

Jen
we are a long way north of the fires, we are right to the north (closer to the floods, lol) but we have 2 families of friends down tehre, both of whom are safe

MissT

I read what you titled your “rant” when it was first posted and I’m not going to lie I was shocked and hurt by many of the things you said.

First off please understand it in no way changes how I feel about you. You are my friend but because I think of you in this way I feel it is right for me not to keep my feelings silent. I try always to be truthful with my friends even when it would be easier just to remain silent.

cos I hate America and everything it stands for.

Really? Everything? Now I understand my opinion will not be popular with some and that’s fine. But to say you hate America and everything it stands for cuts me deep. America is my home. Of course I’m not under the impression that it is perfect and always right in everything it does but to say “everything”? I could list so many examples of things this country has done that in my eyes is good and right. Is it always right? Oh hell no. We are governed by human beings who are often corrupted by greed and power. No county can say they are any different. Well they can say it but it won’t be the truth. However to me the truth is this – I live in a county where people are free to stand and shout at the top of their lungs that they hate their elected officials. There are countries where something like that would be impossible. I live in a county where my daughters are free to be anything they chose. They are not considered property. There are countries where that is the only thing a woman is considered. We have the right to worship any God we chose. We have the right to say there is no God. To me these are just a very few things America stands for.

Really, no one died and made you boss. Seriously, fuck off America.

With great power comes great responsibility. Sorry I’m not being flippant. But the there is truth in these words. Like it or not be are a powerful country. And yes, often that power is abused but not always. Once again I could list so many times America has come to the aid of foreign countries. Is this wrong? Should we just stay “over here” and mind our own business? Should we turn a blind eye to suffering? See this goes both ways. I’m not saying we don’t get involved in things we shouldn’t but I am saying that getting involved isn’t always bad. Once again there is good and bad, right and wrong and choices that are made. No one will ever agree 100% on what’s right and what’s wrong. That is just the nature of the beast.

The best countries in the world all have badness in them. Leave off the innocent chinese people. They are terrorised too. If you have to slag off someone, make it the governments of the world, but don't boycott the people. Tourism pays the wages of many of the poor.

Well if there was a way to slag off a government without hurting it’s people just think how wonderful that would be. However, while tourism pays the wages of many of the poor it also puts money in the coffers of the officials. I have nothing but the up most respect for the people of China. I abhor the way they are treated by their own government. So then, do I believe that we Americans should boycott China? Should we refuse to go there? This is a difficult situation. As Mayo pointed out if we Americans refuse to go there then we would be completely in the dark as to the atrocities that occur there. I agree but at the same time MissT you seem to think we need to “mind your own fucking business.” Dammed if we do and damned if we don’t.

I do believe MissT that your words were directed at our government. However to me when you say America well that’s me. I am an American and I’m proud of that fact. Our government is so very far from perfect but we have the chance to keep trying to make it better. We have the freedom to try while many people never get that chance.

Okay that’s the end of my rant. I just wanted to put my feeling out there.

And MissT – I love ya.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I agree 3:39!
Those are the people the Chinese Government never lets anyone see. Everything is controlled there. Tourist can't walk about freely. It's all tightly controlled. Where you go, what you hear, what you see.
You don't see the people begging for help with tears in their eyes. You don't hear the cries of "do something, please help us".
When something is done to help those people, it is the IMPERIAL LEADER that must be thanked. I do mean MUST. Not the people and organizations who actually helped. All "gifts" in China come from the IMPERIAL LEADER.
I think we are truly free here in America. I think to think otherwise is ridiculous!
Anyone in the free world can read about our poverty, the injustice. You can see our riots on CNN or the BBC. You saw what happened in NOLA after Katrina. We do have a free press.
Countries like America, Canada, Australia, Finland, Norway, Scotland (most European countries), The UK, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, and many other countries where the government is based on Democracy... the people who live there are lucky!
It's not the Chinese people anyone is speaking out against. It's the Chinese people some are speaking up for.
Try to find someone from China on myspace, facebook, twitter, here on blogger, any "social" network.
You won't. Not unless they are in bed with Chinese Government and promoting their propaganda.
And those are my thoughts! Sorry if I left out any other wonderful free countries out there. I know there are much more than I listed!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
Hiya Ergo!
Sugarplum, I think the van is fixed, but not so sure yet. How are you? I forgot to mention this, but did you know that there's a half-naked picture of Nikki Sixx in the book I bought? There were showing this really really gorgeous tattoo that covers most of his torso.
It's really amazingly detailed.
the tattoo or his torso? ;]
GS and Amy, sorry I fell off the blog without saying goodbye. GS, that is what I would call a pub! Amy, that place looks neat! I believe many people in America have varying opinions of pub/pub food. I find places that have authentic influences make the best pubs/those that have been around awhile/and have a huge selection of beers. Like this place Scottish
Welsh (sorry no pics or extra info)
Unfortunately, true ‘pubs’ are hard to come by. Not sure if that is generally speaking, but just from what I’ve experienced.
Anon, who was sad on Saturday…how are you doing? Better I hope. :)
Ergo, how is everything? I read you and I’m so sorry. Please keep us posted.
Elena, thank you for mentioning me in your thoughts earlier. The whole comment was very thoughtful and humbling.
SC, I know that was you and I just want to say thank you so much. It was wonderful to hear from you. I've missed you so much. ♥
Ummm, I've missed a few things.
I’m still muddling through my thoughts on all the other conversations. Not sure if I’ll time to type out what I’m thinking.
But one thing at a time.
Hi everyone! Hi Mayo!
anima said...
Wendy, how is your mom doing?
Anonymous said...
Lol ergo, it's the tattoo, although I have to admit he looks good for his age.
From what I read, it's a tatoo of an angel he once saw at a graveyard somewhere in Europe or Italy and in it's hands it's wielding a large sword.
I should probably scan it on my computer since I now have one to upload the image. I think it's really neat.
Hiya anima, good to see you! *hugs*
anima said...
Hiya BC. *HUGS* It's a recent pic? You should post it...
ergoproxy said...
Hi anima
lovely to see you ♥
on behalf of my country, thanks. It's a bad time for so many people
our pubs differ to yours as well, but there are good and bad, outback pubs are the best, they are a real social meeting place (as most towns have little else!)
went to a fab Irish pub while on holidays, really brilliant atmosphere.
ok I'm off to town
hope I catch you next time anima xx
see you BC elena wendy xx
Enjoy your trip Ergo :)
Anima, I think it is. I just got the printer/scanner last Christmas, but I don't know how to work it yet so it's gonna take me a while, and right now I'm finishing up some coursework I have to go print. Phooey!
How are you doing? How's the pub and business going?
anima said...
Bye Ergo, lovely to see you as well. And take care okay, we will be thinking about you.
anima said...
Maybe you can find the pic online somewhere?
And I wouldn't describe my place a pub - that would have been fun though! it's just a bar where we made do with what we had. ;)
Anon616 said...
Hi Anima!!!! How are you and your family? I hope your dad's doing okay. Thanks, again, for asking about my mom. She is continuing to improve and get stronger!
Sorry for my abrupt disappearance. Ms. G walked over to visit with mom for awhile. I love Ms. G and her husband Mr. E!
Ergo: I watched some of the videos of the brush fires on youtube. It's heartbreaking.
:(
Well, I can't find the report on China; but, I did find LIL WAYNE'S amazing and incredible Grammy performance.
The JAZZ begins at 3:07. I love it!!!
Lil Wayne's performance ~ tribute to New Orleans
Sweetcheeks: Have you dedided on a tattoo yet?
Miranth: I have fond memories of sliding down the bannister too! I also have fond memories of drawing mustaches on certain pieces of art... particularly The Bride! Thanks for getting that off for me!
;)
I have to run now. I am off to WalGreens!
Have a great "whatever it is wherever you are" everyone!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
Enjoy the presidential address anima :)
Enjoy your trip to walgreens sugarplum. As for the tatoo, I am still deciding, but it depends on how much I'll get for my b-day. I'm still gunning for that MH tattoo though.
*blows kisses*
I gotta go finish my work, then I am going to make dinner. Take care guys!
anima said...
Bye BC, have fun!
Some good questions tonight.
anima said...
A couple thoughts I gathered along the way. Don't want to really get into all this, but hopefully its cool if I share a bit...
"reducing executive salaries" and
“normalizing the credit system” and “focusing on housing”
Yes please!
Troupes leaving Afganistan? The full human cost of war? Thank you Ed.
I’m not happy with his answer re: afganistan timeline and reasoning, but I understand him avoiding the details.
“No one is above the law.” That's a good one. :)
Gotta get back to work now.
See you guys soon.
Hello? Anyone here?
Anonymous said...
"Nobody called her evil. She's embellishing again."
SHE didn't say anything.
YOU are lying.
Anonymous said...
I misread the comment. YOU can HANG ME for that unforgiveable SIN.
I'm sure YOU or SHE have committed such a HORRIBLE OFFENSE.
Take Mayo's advice anon. Go pleasure yourself.
Do something else with that finger besides pointing it at people calling them liars and other names.
Anonymous said...
Didn't YOU just point the finger at her, Mya? "She's embellishing again". That doesn't sound nice now does it?
Anonymous said...
SHE is the cat's mother!
anima said...
Anon(s), what are you talking about?
Asks self:
Why did you check back in? These are serious questions. :/
Anonymous said...
I loved Are You being Served. Still do, when I catch it. I was so effing bummed when I found out that John Innman died. I had a crush.
HOLY HELL what a long damn day. I didn't end up driving the Empress home after all, but I did stay and chat with Sifu for about 45 minutes.
School was exhausting and then the Gold Dragon led basics which was about 45 minutes of kicks, with some other drills mixed in; already I was pretty much out of gas. Then Sifu led blackbelts and we did the drill we've been doing for three weeks. It's an awesome and really cool drill but let me tell you, I was dead by the end of it. The whole bunch of us looked like we could fall over. I get concerned for my training brothers and sisters because they get overheated a lot quicker than I do. It's a little daunting. Me, my legs just start to hurt.
but in a good way.
I'm actually still sort of buzzing from that class. :)
Anonymous said...
ANIMA! :) Why, it seems as if at least one of them said that I said something I didn't say or something like that.
Who knows anymore? Or cares, really. ^_^
Although I think one was defending me. If you were, thank you. :D
Anima, how are you?
Anonymous said...
Oh! but I was Mrs. SLocombe of course. :)
Anonymous said...
YOU still haven't found a better use for that finger anon?
I'm not Mya. Need another suggestion on what to do with that pointing finger?
I said I misread the comment.
Allow me to explain the meaning of that statement to the
apparently
comprehension impaired.
I MADE A MISTAKE. HANG ME FOR that UNFORGIVEABLE offense. I AM SO SORRY FOR BEING HUMAN.
We all know YOU or SHE could never do such a horrible thing.
Now, try taking that advice. You might feel better.
FYI She has admitted to embellishing things in the past. I do her credit for that.
Anonymous said...
You still about, Anima? I hope I didn't miss you yet again. I still often think about that one chat we had last year or so about the government and all that. :D That was awesome.
I hope you're hanging in there and I hope Dad is doing okay.
Anonymous said...
WTF, look at these goddamn ants! I'll be honest, they freak me out a little.
Anonymous said...
OMG, people bite them in half while they are still alive.
O_o
That's so awful.
Anonymous said...
Hmm, I feel like singing.
Anonymous said...
Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting!
anima said...
Mya, if you are reading, this is why people think this is you...
"Allow me to explain the meaning of that statement to the
apparently
comprehension impaired."
For some reason, when you first came on, you had gaps in your comments - similar to the above.
So either an anon is copying this or it is you. I prefer the former. I thought you should know...or at least this is what I have observed. Not sure why I haven't mentioned it...
Hope this helps. :)
Amyranth said...
Anima, I find Anons are willing to accuse other anons of being anyone and everyone.
:/
anima said...
That ant looks so awkward! Those little legs, how the hell is that possible?
"swollen to the size of grapes" that is very intriguing. O_O
Anonymous said...
Anima, is everything all right?
Anonymous said...
Oh heck, I think ants can carry like a trillion times the weight of the earth or something. They are kind of amazing, right?
I'm partial to ants--well, to most bugs actually--but I don't like the bastards in my house, ants I mean. Ants or yellow jackets.
I like to have spiders in my house though and I've taken outside spiders inside when it's gotten cold. O_O
anima said...
I concur Amy. What's up with that?
Anonymous said...
If the anon was trying to copy Mya
they wouldn't constantly come back
and say they're not Mya.
I think they're just tired of the
bullshit and have the right to
expess themself however they
choose.
Anonymous said...
Let's not forget
Mayo and SS anon too.
Amyranth said...
Anima, I know not.
But I gotta say, it's pretty freaking frustrating to come home from a day's work and find out you've been every anon under the sun, according to the reputable Anon Daily News.
Anonymous said...
I'm not Amy, DW or soap anon either.
anima said...
That's so weird that you mentioned spiders. It made me remember a dream I had last night.
Apparently, my neighbors wanted to introduce a certain spider to the area in order to control some other insect problem. I cannot remember all the reasons, but I was so against this...trying to tell them why they couldn't do it.
I digress...
Ants are really amazing.
Anonymous said...
Hmm, I wonder what that could pertain to, Anima. I like to think about what dreams mean. Not what they portend, but what they mean.
So, is there something in your life that someone is telling you will be helpful, but you suspect it might be either more trouble than it's worth, if not dangerous?
That would be my first guess.
Anonymous said...
Ask Mayo who I am. He has stat
counter.
I think he respects anon privacy.
Maybe the anon guessing game
amuses him or he has a thing for
pointing fingers being waved
around.
Anonymous said...
Well, speaking of dreams, I think I'm just about to go and have a few. I hope they are good ones. :) It is way past my bed time on a day like today.
Anima, it's good to read you. Hope you're doing well. :)
Good night!
Tonight, it's a revolution
Tonight, we're going to war
Tonight, you better make a decision
Tonight, we're going to war
I'm not a patriot
I'm not illegal
I'm not a fugitive
I'm an American
I'm an American
I think you need some education
I think you need some thought control
Tonight, there is a situation
Tonight, it's the end of the world
Tonight, we'll take control of the nation
Tonight, we take control of the world
I'm not a patriot
I'm not illegal
I'm not a fugitive
I'm an American
I'm an American
I'm not a patriot
I'm not illegal
I'm not a fugitive
I'm an American
I'm an American
Come let's crush these weak defenses
Let's all lose our self-control
We will fight the false pretenses
And break the arm that has a hold
Come let's crush the opposition
And let us not do what we're told
We can kill the competition
And break the face off of the mold
I'm not a patriot
I'm not illegal
I'm not a fugitive
I'm an American
I'm an American
I'm not a patriot
I'm not illegal
I'm not a fugitive
I'm an American
I think you need some thought control
Before I went, I remembered that I wanted to post that up. I listened to it in the car after Misty came on and said what she said.
I believe that song was written before 9/11, but it was never released because the band--and perhaps the label--thought that it was a really bad time to be saying things like this. If you listen to the song it sounds (not by accident, I think,) like he might be saying "I'm unamerican."
It's a really angry, pissed off, anti-government sentiment; I think you have to hear him sing it to get a sense of the anger, which I totally get.
Anyway, what a great song. And when it came on my shuffle right after I left the college I was like, "YEAH!" :D
Well! Once again, good night.
If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American where as least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:
I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A
Of course, but don't all of us have this or am I abnormal?! LOL!
"but you suspect it might be either more trouble than it's worth, if not dangerous?"
Not sure about this part.
Dreams are fun if one can remember the details. If I have time first thing after waking, I like to reflect on them.
I have been loving my dreams lately. :)
