tic-tac-toe

Nothing provokes me like someone trying to tell me what I can or can’t do. And I am not talking about “Eat your vegetables”, “Take out the trash”, "Don't run a red light", "Don't steal shit", or "Don't stick a knife in someone" (well maybe the red light thing, once). That stuff is important and I get that. What I mean is when someone is attempting to assert control over me, primarily for their own gains or because they consider my actions irrelevant, then I am full-on instigated.

In fact, I can be a bit immature when confronted with authority. A holdover from adolescence, I presume. For the most part, because I am an adult I am able to identify when the limitations being placed on me are legitimate and necessary. And I bite my tongue.

But, nothing pleases me more than to shove it in the face of whatever or whoever attempts to assert unnecessary control over me. Tell me I’m too old to do something, to act a certain way, then you can bet I’ll be first in line. Tell me what I say is irrelevant and I’ll carry on until I find an ear. Attempt to limit my behavior because you don’t consider me worthy and I’ll increase my efforts until you are red faced.

What amazes me is that they (those attempting control) do not understand that their assertions invariably expose their hot buttons. See, now I know what pisses you off and I can be an asshole, so there you go. But, like I said, I can be a bit immature.

Also, I find it unnecessary for someone to belittle a person because their opinion does not run parallel to their own. Typically, name calling will get you nowhere. We are each entitled to our own beliefs, and our opinions will undoubtedly run counter to other's. And if I don't agree, I'll let you know. I'll give you my point of view and perhaps some facts that I may have squirreled away for the occasion to back it up.

Usually this works and we can agree to disagree. But, if you are maliciously handing me my head over and over about whatever burns your ass, then I will most likely ignore you.

That works in two ways. First, I don't hear you any longer. I can continue my life knowing that I made an attempt to express my opinion. And hopefully you now realize you are not going to change mine. Second, I don't hear you any longer.

Then later, under my breath, I'll call you an idiot. And let's face it, if after all that you still think you can change my opinion...well now, we don't need to go there. Just for the record, I won't try to change yours, either. Your opinion, that is.

With all that being said, (and feel free to ignore any of it) please keep in mind that I am a bit of a smart ass. And I have been known to dish out a good natured hard-time. If you poke me, I'll poke you back...sometimes I poke first.

I think I read somewhere something along the lines of...we need to be able to best deal with those things that impact us emotionally, and we need to handle them ourselves. As individuals the decisions we make are what we can control. The rest is up to the rest.

p.s. ask yourself.

I am reading more.

Arsons? Ergo, I didn't know this part. I assumed natural causes, even though you may have mentioned this.

I guess the 'accuracy' I was seeking had to do with your news and if it was comparable to the story I am reading.

Either way it doesn't matter. Many have lost their lives.

I see you discovered honeyants, they are pretty cool and a real delicacy if Aboriginal people find them, you can imagine sweet stuff isn't common in the outback

In the NT there is a kids TV character called Yamba the Honey Ant, by Imparja TV
soft toy
on tv

we also have these green ants which build huge nests by sticking leaves together, and get all over you if you're unlucky enough to disturb them. But you can eat the abdomen, it tastes like tart lemon/lime, people also make tea and cook with them
green tree ant
nest
they are cool to watch as they grab the leaves and all hold them with their jaws while the others glue them by squeezing silk out of the larva, but they bite and a friend had them kill AND EAT her guineapigs overnight once!!! O_O
we have them in our grapefruit tree

I have just spoken to friends who actually saw what happened that day. The heat climbed up to 117, with gale force winds. Apparently firefighters cannot be sent to fires measuring 4000 kilo watts (heat energy). Apparently the Australian fires measured 20000 kilo watts which is equivalent to 10,000 electric radiators. They said it was like an atomic fire bomb hiting the areas. Many people tragically died trying to escape it. It came too quickly. I'm in shock at it's magnitude.

ergoproxy said...

12:39 as is all of australia
people were burnt in their homes, in cars trying desperately to escape, some jumped in dams, one family who survived went into their cellar (which is unusual fro an aussie home to have) and the metal manhole cover was glowing red above them
it was so intense and so fast, far larger than any fires in history
the stories of survival are incredible the stories of loss are tragic.

anon I am really glad your friends are ok

Hello Mayo, SS, Ergo, Anima, Amy, Sweetcheeks; various anons, watchers and lurkers... everyone!

Ergo: I just don't know what to say. I can't believe there are people in this world who would deliberately set fires knowing all the death and destruction it could cause. It's happened here too...
Justice can't come quick enough (or be severe enough) for people who do that. At least, in my opinion it can't!

I'm glad you, your family and friends are all okay! My thoughts, wishes and prayers go out to all the ones who have lost so much.

*hugs for your countrymen/women and a smooooooooch for you*

For you and Cupcake

Speaking of Cupcake, has anyone heard from her? Is she and her family okay? I'll have to check twitter to see if she's posted any updates. I'm getting worried!

Amy: GREAT quote! Thanks for posting it!!! I hope you and the mister are both off in dreamland (in that wonderful "spooning" position) feeling safe and secure!

Sweetcheeks: Nearly naked you say? I have to get that book!!!!
*big wink, hug and kiss*
Ohhhh.... I have a picture or two I should send you. Or, maybe I shouldn't!
:P

Elena: I hope you're okay. I worry when I don't see you around too!

I hope you all have a goodnight. Sweetdreams to one and all!!!!

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

PS: Mya will be so happy to hear thoughts of her are so *predominant here, still*! I'll let know. I do still talk to her just about everyday!

*Not really; because, like she said (improvises here)she really don't give a flying fig what you think!

It’s been a very, very long day for me. I’m tired mentally more than physically. My brain is mush. So nothing I would say would make sense even to me. Matter of fact I don’t even want to make sense. I just don’t want to try to sort out things. No, I’m not trying to avoid things or run away but I know sometimes you just gotta retreat for a while or go crazy. Wait, might be too late on that crazy thing. Oh well, I am what I am. I am who I am.

Tomorrow I’ll wake up and start over. The same shit will be waiting for me but maybe I’ll have a fresh perspective. Maybe a light bulb will go off over my head and I’ll have some new brilliant idea that will help.

here is a song I enjoyed. I didn't ever hear another by the artist, but this song mentions Ingmar Bergman, which was inspirational in naming a social volleyball team- Ingmar Bergman's Chutney Ferrets (catchy band name too!)

Harpo - Movie Star

You feel like Steve McQueen
when you're driving in your car
and you think you look like James Bond
when you're smoking your cigar
it's so bizarre you think you are
a new kind of James Dean
but the only thing I've ever seen of you
was a commercial spot on the screen

Movie Star, Movie Star, ahahar
you think you are a movie
Movie Star, Movie Star, ahahar
you think you are a Movie Star, ahahar

You should belong to the jet set
fly your own private lear jet
but you worked in a grocery store
every day until you could afford to get away
so you went to Sweden to meet Ingmar Bergman
he wasn't there or he just didn't care
I think it's time for you, my friend
to stop pretending that you are a

Movie Star, Movie Star, ahahar
you think you are a movie
Movie Star, Movie Star, ahahar
you think you are a Movie Star, ahahar

The frozen hero!
Your words are zero
when your dreams had vanished into dark
along the go that you don't want to know

Movie Star, Movie Star, ahahar
you think you are a movie
Movie Star, Movie Star, ahahar
you think you are a Movie Star, ahahar

Movie Star, Movie Star, ahahar
you think you are a movie

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Released August 27, 2002
Recorded Cherokee Studios

30 Seconds to Mars is the debut album of alternative rock band 30 Seconds to Mars and can best be described as a concept album. It was released on August 27, 2002, by Virgin Records. The album produced two singles, "Capricorn (A Brand New Name)" and "Edge of the Earth." Of the two, only the former charted, peaking at #31 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart. 30 Seconds to Mars met with mixed reviews and achieved sales of just over 100,000.

The overall theme of the album is of that of human struggle.

"Revolution," a song recorded for the album, was not included because its lyrics did not fit the rest of the album thematically, and because its lyrics could be misinterpreted.

Ultimately, the band chose not to include the song in light of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Two other tracks were recorded for the album: "Phase 1: Fortification" and "Anarchy in Tokyo"; "Phase 1: Fortification" was included on a promotional single for "Capricorn (A Brand New Name)" released in the UK, and "Anarchy in Tokyo" was included as a bonus track with the Japanese release of the album.

The lyrics of the hidden track, "The Struggle," were taken from Sun Tzu's The Art of War.

Much of 30 Seconds to Mars features synthpop elements. In accordance to this, Elijah Blue Allman and Renn Hawkey of Deadsy contributed on the tracks "Welcome to the Universe" and "Capricorn (A Brand New Name)," respectively.

The song "Echelon" was played during the ending credits of the film The Core, which was released in 2003.

The phrase 'Welcome to the universe' is repeated throughout the album in the songs "Welcome to the Universe", "93 Million Miles", and "The Struggle". The original name for the album was going to be "Welcome to the Universe". Additionally, "division" and "unity" are repeated in the lyrics of the songs "Oblivion", "Echelon", "End of the Beginning", "93 Million Miles", and "The Struggle".

93 million miles is the average distance from Earth to the Sun

Jared Leto

From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia.

http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Jared_Leto

Jared Freakin' Leto is, as many fangirls claim, 0MG the most AH-mazing, TAlented, SEXY, GORgeous, AWzum, C00Lest Eh-ver, liCKabl3, gud SMELLing, zuh-ESty, spUNky, hypn0tic, kidNAPPabL3, m0L3stable, sPRINGy, suh-NAZzy, FUH-REAKish person on the entire frikkin' planet/universe/space. They also numbered many other positive characteristics belonging to him, but they were incomprehensible. He is also a vampire.

Childhood

Jared Leto grew up in a small part in Raccon City he was not infected by the zombies becuase they were all killed by his awsomeness and did not dare to go near him. He enjoyed gardening (as revealed in the song "93 Million Miles" by 30 Seconds To Mars) and playing with kittens until age 5, when Mr. Shahbahlagahdingdong (from "The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody" series) dominated the land. From this time on, La-La Land was no longer in the Happy Era, but the Sad Era. He no longer found pleasure in happy things, but instead in sad things like drinking the blood of the innocent and starving himself for movie roles. He eventually dropped out of high school because he could not take the sadness anymore and fled to a land called LA. This is where he was discovered by Lord Voldemort, who put him in the My So-Called Life series. Lord Voldemort will forever be like a father figure to him, for he saved his soul. While he was on the set of MSCL (as hard-core My So-Called Life fans would say), he found his first true love: Angela, aka Claire Danes. She brought him out of his misery and persuaded him to write songs about cars. He would have gone back to gardening and playing with kittens, but he never attempted it after he was beat up by Dick Cheney for doing so. From then on, he started doing hard-core things such as singing, acting, pissing off the media, and hooking up with chicks. No sorry all he really is-- is normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And he is the best person in the entire world(at baking cookies). He has a fear of overweight mexican woman called Hagoff for the reason that he was sat on when he was born.

he likes pie and walking to the beach with the shells that talk to him
[edit] Sex Life

Jared Leto's sex life consists of women, men, vampires, geese, and anything edible. This statement was verified when a cool-ass interviewer from France asked him "What turns you on?" and he replied "What doesn't turn me on?" Fangirls have been reported performing strange rituals ever since. Nobody knows exactly what the purpose of this is, but one witness reported that he remembered the strange group to be chanting in Chinese. He takes the Kama Sutra approach. He dosnt really has had a really good sex life and i appreciate him for that. he is currently dating his dog, Judas.

When none of the above are available, he will readily cut a hole in something and fuck that instead.

Career

Jared Leto is well known for his movie roles, for his credibility in the music industry, and for his ability to act like an asshole (this is what the magazines say, so it must be true). He is very successful in all areas. Because he's special abilities granted by being a vampire he does almost anything in the world because, of course he does not sleep so he's known for singing, composing, acting, directing, cooking (he bakes a mean cake and makes square pancakes) , dancing (he's also known as Happy Feet), hiking (generally very high stages) and so on...

Movies

Leto is most known for getting his limbs amputated, for getting beat up, killed, shot, stabbed, arrested, poisoned, burned, axed, and molested in his movies. The reasoning for this is unknown, but some have suggested that it may be because of his rough childhood in La-La Land, and that he thirsts for pain. To put it in plain words, he's Emo. He's also an artist who suffers for his art so for every movie he maltreats himself in one way or another : he starves himself until he becomes like "Achmed the Dead Terrorist", he plucks his hair to be bald, he eats until he becomes like a normal average American (obese - 230lbs), he shaves (that's the most real sacrifice that he's ever made). His most successful role was in American Psycho when all people with good taste lined up in a 57 mile line to see Christian Bale kill the ugly bastard.

Music

Older brother Shannon and Jared formed a band in 1998 called 30 Seconds To Mars because they are part space-monkey. When their first CD, self titled, came out in 2002, their genre was described as "space-rock". Soon, people began to suspect them for being aliens. The brothers noticed this and realized that they may have given too much information about themselves. So, to hide their true identity, they came out with another album 3 years later. This album was called "A Beautiful Lie", which was their way of denying that they were space-monkeys, and the sound was no longer out of this world. The "Space-Monkey Outrage of 2002" has died down since then, but there are still a few people who have not let go of their suspicions. The SOON concept is a leitmotif which often appears in the activity of 30 seconds to mars . This is also an argument for the fact that they actually are aliens...Somehow they managed to be atemporal, because they live somewhere in the 4th dimension where time passes either very slow (they seem to have remained stuck in the early years of their youth where fooling and goofing around like kinder garden boys is a normal behavior) or either very fast, soon for them becoming in a normal human dimension months or even years of waiting. So we'll soon see the video for A beautiful lie ( which seems to feature the band's cow, named Frodrick, eating grass in a blizzard ), we'll soon have a new album, we'll soon hear Jared is in Mexico again, etc... They also enter in a time-loop at every concert before they sing the well known "The Kill", when time almost stops and Jared screams desperately "This next song...The next song is called...is called...is calleeed!!!!" The thing Jared Leto is most notable for is trying so desperately to be My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way. He was known for disappearing under Gerard Way's table during an awards show and sucking him off. Apparently Mr Way was not aware of this because he thought it was his wife.

Asshole Abilities

Leto first became known as "The Asshole" after he attempted to choke a hobbit. People nearby claim to have heard phrases such as "I will eat your face!" and "I will eat your mom's face!" before the fight broke out. Later, the hobbit claimed that Leto became upset after he accused him of having an affair with his own brother, Shannon. "The whole thing was kind of ridiculous." he stated. Leto was not available for comment, for he was helping his guitarist give their poodle a bath.

Memory Span

Jared was actually acknowledged by The Space-Monkeys Guinness book to be the creature with the memory larger than an marsephant's (the equivalent on Earth would be elephant). So he never forgets anything. He will always remember every night of his life (especially if there was a concert)-though, paradoxally, every concert is his best concert-, every country he's ever been in (although he has a problem to distinguish Denmark from Holland), every fan he talks to, every interview he does...

Hiya guys, just popping in for a quickie than I'm off again.

Just wanted to see if everyone hated me after last night's rant. Phew, I'm glad that everyone realised I was slagging off governments and not people.

Elena sweetie (love you loads too). I know what you mean about your America and I would never say anything about that to hurt you.

When I use the phrase " I hate America and everything it stands for" I mean that as viewed on the world stage in a political sense.

I know of your America Elena, the place that gave your children a great education, that gave you a job and a nice house and cars, that produces amazing music and films and culture, that has great scientists constantly making amazing medical breakthroughs. That, more importantly, created people like you.

I would never slag that off Elena, your America is a beautiful place, I would never take that away from you. How could it not be to create many of the wonderful people here on this blog.

To me, your America is the America of the people. that is to be cherished. I rant against the America of the world. That is the one that needs to change. It is just a shame that the people of America will now be judged worldwide by others in a bad way because of the actions of your government. That is a total shame. You people are better than that.

Sending out the love vibes.

See ya laterz xxxx

Misty, but you can say things like that and it's all peachy. If I'd said those exact same words, "anons" would have rained down the fires of self-righteous hell. :D

Still I applaud you. ^_^

Jared Leto anon: I laughed pretty effing hard. I love uncyclopedia; it cracks me up. The part about Raccoon City gave me the biggest squee because I've been spending a lot of time in Raccoon City myself these last few days! :D Thank you for that.

I've just seen some of the awful fires in Australia. Oh man, I don't even know what to say. It's so frightening. Long Island was burning in 1994, though not as badly, and still it was so shocking and it is really traumatic to see your land up in flames like that. How terrible.

Hope everyone's doing well today!

Hiya K sweetie, I know exactly what happens to you for saying anything.

Sometimes I just have to get things off my chest, then I'm sure people will hate me for it. I'm just glad that people know I don't say things in malice, it's a shame people can't see that about you too.

Anyway, I am outta here now.

Just wanted to apologize to all Americans who may have thought my rant was against them and their country. I would never want to upset you. You are lovely people with a lovely country and my grudge is with politicians. Man, those guys just spoil the world.

To see a tiger in your dream, represents power and your ability to exert it in various situations. The dream may also indicate that you to take more of a leadership role. Alternatively, the tiger represents female sexuality, aggression, and seduction.

Hello Americans and any other interested parties!

I have been thinking about what transpired yesterday and feel compelled comment.

Firstly, I do not believe all that is wrong with this world is down to the American administration. It could as easily be laid at the door of the British as a result of colonisation and poor decision making by the Allies with the League of Nations and the United Nations in the first part of the 20th Century-consider the many reorganisations of borders of the Balkan States and the problems that exist in that region today.

America is not solely responsible for the creation of the State of Israel. This was the brain child of a British politician called Balfour and this kick started the conflict that is in existence today.

That said, America holds much power in the world today as Elena said with that comes great responsibility. I would prefer it if American affairs belonged solely to the Americans but because of their super power status their policies impact on many countries. It was terrible to see the pounding of Gaza that took place in the last few days of the Bush Administration as it seemed like Israel felt they might be unable to do it when Bush had gone i.e. they were protected.

Mistakes have been made and I will admit to sleeping much easier since the election of President Obama.

I was pleased to read that he intends to attempt to build relations with other countries. This was something President Bush did not want to do. When France disputed the claims of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq my blood went cold when the American response was you are either with us or against us! America really does not need special relationships with one or two countries who will never disagree with America. Relationships where honest discussion is welcomed even if they are contrary to your own view is far more preferable and will hopefully lead to a better.

You should be very proud of what your country has achieved and how the rest of the world has actually benefited from your existence, considering it is still a relatively young democracy but please be mindful of how polices affect others. I do not believe that the sins of the father should follow generations as long as mistakes are acknowledged as early as possible and genuine efforts are made to ensure they are not repeated.

Apologies for length and any inaccuracies but I felt I had to say something.

good morning

just wanted to say thanks to everyone who is thinking of Australia right now
the toll is 181 and there are still 20 uncontrolled fires, but no immediate threat to human life

just wanted to let you all know that 100% of any money donated is going into a trust fund for distribution to victims of the fires.
None is going on administration and such

Also up north of us where there were floods relief efforts are beginning, and the weather there is allowing waters to recede and clean ups to begin

And the cricket(Aust vs NZ)

Australia and New Zealand players will donate match fees, gate receipts and auction shirts to support victims of the bushfires in Victoria that have so far killed 131 people.

Both sets of players will wear black armbands and observe a minute's silence before the fourth One Day International in Adelaide, 25% of the gate receipts with Commonwealth Bank ($1,000,000), Cricket Australia ($100,000) and the South Australia Cricket Association ($25,000) have also pledged monetary aid.

The Commonwealth Bank will also donate $100 for every run hit and $1000 for every six hit.

Australia will donate their match fees and auction their playing shirts for tomorrow's match while New Zealand will also make a financial contribution as well as donating signed shirts to be auctioned.

“These fires have been a great tragedy for many people," Cameron White, who captains Victoria, said. "I'm glad the Australian team is in a position to do their part and help out the best they can to the bushfire appeal and to the people who are affected."

Australian captain Ricky Ponting added: “The whole team has been touched by this national disaster and every single one of us wants to do our bit in tomorrow’s fundraising activities.

"Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathies go out to everyone touched by this tragedy,” he added.

A statement from New Zealand Cricket (NZC) read: "The BLACKCAPS team and management extended their sympathy to those affected by the fires, and expressed their wish to contribute to the appeal through a financial donation."

US President Barack Obama has telephoned Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to offer his prayers for the people of Victoria, and the nation, suffering from the deadliest bushfire on record
Mr Rudd has taken phone calls from a long list of world leaders, who have offered their condolences, and some with offers of assistance.
"President Obama said that we should know in Australia that the prayers of himself, his wife Michelle, their family and of the American people are with the people of Victoria, people of Australia," he told parliament
The US, along with New Zealand and Britain, is willing to lend a hand and about 35 American firefighting operation chiefs, aviation managers, planning section chiefs and specialists in land rehabilitation are waiting for final orders to help bolster the effort to control the blazes.
Mr Rudd said the sympathetic response from international friends was "an expression of our common humanity".
Since the scale of destruction from the Victoria bushfires became apparent, Mr Rudd has also taken calls from:
* British Prime Minister Gordon Brown,
* New Zealand Prime Minister John Key
* European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso,
* United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and
* Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Countries as far flung as the tiny European principality of Andorra, Pakistan, France, Brazil, Cuba and Nauru have sent messages of support as Australia reels from the tragedy, which has claimed at least 173 lives.
"Expressions of sympathy have also been accompanied by offers of practical help," Mr Rudd said.
France and Japan had made urgent inquiries as to what assistance they may offer. Thailand was proposing a financial donation to the bushfire victims.
Indonesia had offered assistance with disaster victim identification.
New Zealand had offered 100 firefighters. Singapore has offered to deploy Super Puma helicopters.
"The United States Department of the Interior is in discussions with the government of Victoria on the provision of personnel and assistance," Mr Rudd said.
Australia welcomed each of the offers of support and expressions of sympathy from around the world, he said.
"It is good that they have come.
"All Victorians and all Australians should know that in this darkest hour they are not alone."

VERITA VENOM SAID

LynZ said

"I think the people writing these questions either a) can't play an instrument or b)could never be in a band. These people are sitting at home, probably eating crisps, commenting on all the things that I'm doing. If they hate me so bad that it inspires them to say, 'Fuck her, I can do it better', then my job is done."

First of all that is typical adolescent logic. If people don't like you they must be bored lazy fat and useless.

Second. And most important. Every single day that I wake up, and don't pretend to play bass in a band that spouts hate speech toward minorities gays and women, every single day I don't go on stage and flaunt my underwear for attention, every single day that I don't marry a rich famous guy and ride his coat tails into the spotlight...

I have already "done it better" than Lyn Z.

I added these words to this blog post. I have a feeling that a lot of people read this blog even if they don't comment and I wanted to add that because to me it makes sense.

I think alot of the people here would agree. Some people wouldn't agree and they can come forward and say what's on their mind too.

I'm going to tell you a secret.

Everytime I am on the LIE I pass by this huge building with two smokestacks billowing white and / or black smoke into the sky. It's so ugly that it's almost jaw-dropping. Long Island is such a beautiful place as a whole--less so as you go West, I think--so when you see a thing like this it's like a big festering wound. Right?

I've so often wondered what the hell this place is. Is it Brookhaven National Lab? Keyspan? LIPA? What?

After a little research tonight I found out it is an oil refinery.

That's not my secret, though.

My secret is that i secretly look forward to seeing this ugly place, because it looks to me like a Mako reactor. And everytime I pass by it, I pretend like it is a Mako reactor and that I live in Midgar. To the point where I try to have some FFVII music playing on my iPod when I pass by it.

It makes the refinery's ugliness (and the entire morning commute) a little more bearable.

LOL@me. :D

I stated my opinion on what I saw as adolescent behavior. It wasn't just Kapunua. It was the anons as well. The ones she always thanks. I don't see them leaving other anons alone.

Pot meet kettle. I could spit out a few names of who they could be but I don't. I don't see the accusations and fingerpointing ending.

The amazing thing is how little my ridiculous imagination and obsession with fiction has changed since I was twelve. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it is kind of fun so it can't be all bad, huh?

Oh,and of course I'm always pretending that BNL has something to do with the X Files too.

Anonymous said...

There is a difference between imagining that I'm in some fictional world, and having what I call these "reality slips" that can sometimes occur in anyone who's spent a goodly amount of time in front of a TV screen immersed in a fictional reality.

I remember talking to TJ and Jennicula about this, because it happened to both of them, too, and I'd wager that it's about to happen to Carrie pretty soon too. :)

When this happens, you've played this one video game for such a long stretch that the real world begins to look like the pixilated world. This is such a weird phenomenon and it's so irrational. I'll give you the examples of what happened with me.

Back in '99 I obsessively played Ocarina of Time. In that game, you whack high weeds down and find Rupees, or Hyrulian money. So I'm driving along one day wondering how I'm going to pay my bills (I had just bought a car,) and I passed by a field of tall grass. I literally thought that I would just pull over, to into the grass and start cutting some down, thereby gaining riches. For a second, I thought literally about doing that!

And a few other times I saw a vine and thought I needed to climb it. Or a random piece of wood, and thought I needed to hookshot up to it.

It's so crazy, but at the same time it's kind of fun. :)

Anonymous said...

Mayo, like i said, I was glad to see you here the other day. I hope you come around again soon. A new post, maybe? A nice poem, a picture, or some thoughts of what's on your mind besides your hat?

Oops, one more thing. 3:42! I really liked what you had to say. I enjoy your outlook and I hope you're right: that things will begin to look up for this country and thus, for the rest of the world.

My fear is that all of this huge mess goes deeper than a new administration can fix. America being this insanely huge superpower predates Bush. It predates Clinton and Reagan and Carter etc. I think that Obama can take some positive steps (and already has, IMO,) but I'm just not sure it's entirely "fixable" or even if there is any such thing.

However I liked what you had to say.

Anonymous said...

Well, speaking of my fannishness, I'm going to go watch X Files for a bit and then hit the scratchy hay.

I hate tomorrow. I have to get up at 6 meffing 30 for the one class I don't like. That's not even right, 6:30 I mean. It's obscene.

Anyway, good night, all!

Hi Ergo.

Mister's brother's "girlfriend" has been running around on him, sorta.

She let him think that they were still dating, even though they weren't living together. And now, with him desperate to do anything to spend time with her, she puts up pictures on her FB of herself and her new man.

I'm not sure whose worse. Her for skanking it up, or him for being so naive...

Sorry.

Amyranth said...

I doubt she'd go if we invited her anywhere. In the two years we've owned this house, she's set foot in it twice, and only when the In Laws were visiting.

Yes. A new Mayo post is a good idea. Thanks Kapu.

Let's take a vote on what it should be.

I would like to hear Elena's, Ergo's, Amy's, BC's, 6's, Anima's, GS's, the OP's, Faraway's, Sdock's, SS's and Carrie's thoughts.

What should the new Mayo post be based upon?

Maybe something about the tragedy in Australia. Maybe something about the horrible job situation the world over. Maybe something about the people he would fight for each and every one of them and their recent trials and tribulations? Maybe?

A poem, a hat, or a picture would mean so much more to everyone. Right?

Come on Mayo. Give us that poem. WE want it. WE really do.

But I do agree, there should be a need for a new post. This one is too crowded already.

Anonymous said...

P.S. His post should be about anything because it is his blog after all, but seriously I could care less. I don't really read his posts anymore. I just scroll past the words and click on the comments and that's it.

Anonymous said...

*laughs*

At least you're honest BC :)

I agree, the comments are more interesting.

Anonymous said...

but it's nice to hear from him to know he's around.

It is his blog and he can post what he wants. As for people feeling it's nice to hear from him
I think fewer and fewer people are feeling that way.

The others who don't kiss his ass. The ones who don't scream for attention. The ones who will say they don't agree with him. Most of them are gone. Some still stick around. Not so much for him. For each other.

Those are the ones who inspire me. Those are the ones who have earned my respect. Those are the ones who keep me coming back.

♥ to you and all of them.

Anonymous said...

You fucking rock Bc. You are one of the ones I respect. Tell it like it is.

Anonymous said...

I think he should post a limerick about women who flash their panties. I think that would be great.

If limericks were good enough for Shakespeare they should be good enough for Mayo. Just sayin'.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the love 3:07.

3:09, thanks. The posts is all just "blah blah blah" to me. After a while I started getting bored reading them. Besides, I got other things in my life that I have to worry about I'm afraid. Ha :)

Besides, I don't think anyone should have to be afraid to speak their opinions.

Anonymous said...

But anyways, I'm afraid I gotta call it a night. I'm getting really sleepy and I'm waiting for my Ipod to finish charging.

So I gotta say my goodnights. Goodnight anons, Ergo sweet dreams guys.

Anonymous said...

Besides, I don't think anyone should have to be afraid to speak their opinions.

Me neither Bc. Say what you have to say. Who cares what some mystery bloggers think. Who died and made Mayo and SS Gods? Why should their words be valued more than yours?

I don't get it. I really don't. I miss your long goodnites. Can you post one to inspire me? For old times sake?

Anonymous said...

:(
Goodnite Bc.

Anonymous said...

I agree, the comments are more interesting.

Watching grass grow is more interesting than what Mayo has to say these days. Just sayin'.

Anonymous said...

Watching grass grow hurts a lot less people too.

Mayo's next post should be about grass.

Anonymous said...

I think he's been smokin some. That must be why his judgement seems to be so impaired lately.

Just sayin'. Feel me?

goodnight BC

hey anons

I just watched our news, and have to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated money or wishes, it all helps people so much

but appallingly there have been more fires and a few are definitely deliberate, what sort of person?? honestly I cannot begin to fathom it!!
and lowest of the low, there are looters at the homes of people who have died.
Though you really see the most amazing spirit of some people, the lack of humanity of others has to be seen also
here's hoping they are caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
They are also still finding the missing and the toll is set to rise.
But the communities are beginning their recovery, be it very very slowly and with incredible sadness.

So thank you everyone, it is so wonderful to have gotten wishes on the blog, at mine and via email from all of you.

The doubting one by heart
Alone without himself

War between him and the day
Need someone to blame
In the end, little he can do alone

You receive but what you give?"

^NIGHTWISH!!!! "Amyranth"^

*dedicates song to Amy and Sweetcheeks*

Hello Ergo, Amy, Sweetcheeks, Anima, Elena, Miranth, SS, Mayo; various anons and various anyone else who was around last night/yesterday!

I don't know about you all; but, I had a great night hanging out and laughing with friends! They are the most wonderful, witty, brilliant and funniest people in the world. I love each and every one of them and can't help but toot their horns!

*waves to them ~ in case they ever come across this place*

MissT: You American hating itch with a capital B!
;)
I'm just kidding. You are entitled to your opinion and I know you weren't talking about the hard working people of America (or any other country). I'm with you on politicians (as you know).

Are you packed yet? Besides that magnificient building, here's some of what's waiting for us:

OM NOM NOM

LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sweetcheeks: Are you sure you want me to send you those pictures? They are triple X rated! I don't want you brothers to come down to NOLA and kick my tiny little arse! There's not much back there, you know!
;)

Ergo: My thoughts, wishes and prayers are still with you and the people of Victoria. How long have these bush fires been burning now? Over a week? I hope they get them under control soon...
so many lives have been lost already.
*smooooooooch*

Ohhh... do you have any pictures of Hong Kong you can share? I have some great pictures my brother took, while there. As some of you know, he worked for NAVO. Yes, he was a government man and we were all damn proud of him! He really loved Hong Kong! He brought me the most gorgeous royal blue Kimono and hand painted silk fan from there!

I also, still have the "canvas" dress he brought me from Africa. It still fits too! Ha! And, I was only 14 when he brought that special gift back to me!

He wasn't too fond of Greenland. He said Iceland and Greenland should really exchange names; since Greenland was mostly ice and Iceland had a lot of green!

He did love Brazil too. Wasn't particularly fond of London or Paris. Sorry, London and Parisfolks!

Of course, sometimes he couldn't tell us where he had been even after he had been there. I spent weeks burning papers after he died. My dad and I knew things even my mother didn't. My big brother always trusted me. Besides, he knew I'd figure it out!
This was the man who asked me to help him with his college math when I was in the sixth grade! We helped each other figure out a lot of things.

I was asked to burn his passport too, after he was killed in a car accident. It was such a great picture of him. It broke my heart to do that...
God, I miss him....

J and L: Thank you, so much, for having his name "Brian" on your profile. I just can't tell you what that means to me! You are two of the most wonderful people I've ever met. True friends. I will stand by your sides ~ always!

As I will so many other people here! I think most of you know who you are. Thank you, ladies! Thank you!

Well, that is all for now. I've gotten mushy enough for tonight.

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

Ohhhh.....

runs back in and hugs Mya ~ even though she hasn't been here in weeks ~ because she did love my improvisational skills (as I knew she would)!

And, one more thing...

The words written for both my dad and my brother....

under my dad's name on the family crypt...

The wind beneath our wings

I was asked to come up with what should be engraved under my daddy's name. All I could think of, that would do him justice, was what a wonderful woman (that my brother had met in Hong Kong) had written to me upon learning of his death...

"He was the wind beneath my wings"

here is David Essex (who I had a not so subtle crush on) with a song I loved, esp when he sings "every clouds got a silver lining - the way he sing "got a" just love that accent, and his smile *swoooon* oh I'd hold him close any day...seriously....right now.....lol

Hold Me Close

Hold me close, don't let me go, oh no
I, yes I love you and I think that you know
Do ya know
With your love light shining
Every clouds got a silver lining
So hold me close, don't let me go

Hold me close, don't let me go, oh no
You and me, yes our love it will stop the show
Do you know
With your love light shining clearly
It's so good to have-a-ya near me
So hold me close, don't let me go

And if that road gets weary, oh I love you
Waiting here if you need me
'Cause I love the things that you do

So hold me close, don't let me go,oh no
You see I, yes I love ya and I think that you know
Do you know
With your love light shining
Every clouds got a silver lining
So hold me close, don't let me go

And if that road gets tougher, oh I love you
No I'll let ya suffer 'cause I love the things that you do
So hold me close, don't let me go oh no
You and me, yes our love it will grow and grow
Do you know
With your love light shining
Every cloud has a silver lining
So hold me close, hold me close, hold me close don't let me go

Hold me close
Closer girl
Hold me close

SS
A song that I heard on the radio today. You know, at the time, I never realised just how creepy stalkerish it kinda sounds. But hey, it's still a great song!

Fischer Z - So Long

When I read your letter I couldn't believe that you'd gone.
I dialed your number but no one answered the phone.
I asked your friends to tell me if they knew where you were,
they said they thought you were ill.
I hired a detective to try and find out where you are.
He managed to trace you, I know that you are living in France.
A watchman saw you climb into someone else car and drive off
laughing in the night. Why didn't you tell me? Not leave me this way.
You should have warned me and not waited for so long.

I've tried to forget you but I find myself walking on the street.
I went to the doctor and he gave me something to sleep. I've sent
you telgrams but you haven't answered one. Your mother told me
I best leave you well alone. I hope you're satisfied now you've done
this to me. I hope you're pleased with what you've done.
Why didn't you tell me? Not leave me this way. Oh you could have told
me and not waited for so long.

For so long I never realized just exactly who you are. I never
realized just exactly. I never realized the girl I had before.
I hope you're satisfied now you've done this to me. I hope
you're pleased with what you've done. Why didn't you tell me?
Not leave me this way. Oh you should have told me and not
waited for so long.

I've done some more thinking...

for all of you American hating bitches: FUCK YOU!

(Not MissT, she was talking about politcians)

YOU can kiss my tiny little ass!

My brother gave his last ten years of his life/his BEST ten years of his life to YOU.

FUCK YOU for disrespecting him, his memory, and all those who went before him! Yes, you are a bitch and a cunt! Deal with it! Bitch!

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

Amy: I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: And, THAT IS how I really feel!

Anon616 said...

Was THAT clear enough for everyone? I hope so!

Anon616 said...

Again: FUCK YOU, Bitch!

Just in case I wasn't clear the first time I said it!

How's that for TRUTH?

Anonymous said...

Anon616, did this slip your memory?

Words can be hurtful; but, they can also be loving, encouraging, kind and inspiring. They are how we express our thoughts and emotions, anger or joy, sorrow and pain, love, understanding, empathy, pride, what we think and how we feel. Words ARE POWERFUL........choose them wisely!!!!!!

Anon616 said...

One more thing:

You can kiss MY ASS! You didn't 'coin that phrase' anymore than you did 'killing zombies'.

Get it? Got it? Good!

Anon616 said...

No, it didn't slip my memory anon. I'm just tired of seeing my friends, the people I care about, hurt.

Are you that self centered?

Anon616 said...

Thank you, Ergo! He was a wonderful man. It's a damn shame more men like him don't exist today.

I really do miss him. So damn much! There was so much he had to say...
so much he had to do and give....

Anonymous said...

Are you that self centered?

Kindly stop using your emotional manipulation techniques with me. I think your have just displayed total hypocrisy. I have read you for a long time. You constantly quote the Dali Lama and other visionaries, but you have just contradicted yourself. I'm sorry about your family, and I think your brother was very brave. However I do not agree with your behavior. There is a way of telling someone how angry you are with them, and name-calling is not one of them. You have lowered yourself to their level.

Anon616 said...

My daddy, also, didn't raise me to be "no fool"! I offer my friendship to you and you slam the door in my face ~ three times ~ you are OUT!

You call my friends psychos and assorted other names: you are OUT?

Get it? I hope you do. Because, there is no middle ground for you and me.

You insult my friends/my family constantly, I will rip your heart out and eat it for lunch. Without any dressing.

Get it?

Anon616 said...

6:39, you can kiss my tiny little ass too!

I haven't called anyone any name. I strongly suggest you re~read!

Oh, on behalf of my brother's best friend (who is sitting next to me) FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE!

Anonymous said...

No namecalling?
Yes, you are a bitch and a cunt! Deal with it! Bitch!
Go to sleep anon616. I cannot take you seriously anymore.

Anon616 said...

Please allow me to reiterate 6:39:

When YOU have done half of what my brother did for this world, I might listen to you. Until then, I SAY:

FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOU!

You have read me for a long time? I don't think you have! I don't constantly quote the Dalai Lama. I do suggest you learn how to spell his name.

Hypocrisy? Do you know the meaning of the word? Do you?

You don't know me. YOU don't know a damn thing about me or my family or what we have fought for.

Again, I say: FUCK YOU!

You want to spit on my daddy's tomb? My brother's tomb? I strongly suggest you learn a thing or two about them and what they fought for.

You want to spit on me? No problem. I'm still alive. I can spit back!

Anon616 said...

No, I won't go to sleep 6:58. Make me! I haven't taken you seriously for over a year.

Anonymous said...

Who and what the hell are you talking about Wendy? What set you off on this rant.

Anon616 said...

Anyone else? I'm here. All alone. Not expecting anyone else to fight my battles for me.

Anyone? Want to throw something else at me? You think you can throw something worse than I've already dealt with?

Go ahead. Try. I'll guarantee you, I'll still be standing at the end.

There is nothing worse than I've already dealt with.

Come on... throw it....

This ain't no ordinary bitch you're dealing with. I've been through more in the first 20 years of my life than most people have to go through in a lifetime.

Come on "ANON". Give it to me to try to prove your point. Whatever the hell it may be!

Anonymous said...

Don't you get it? No matter what you say you cannot offend me. You have just displayed your true self. I suggest you watch Elena. She knows how to conduct herself with dignity regardless how emotional she feels at the time.

Anon616 said...

What set me off?

My friends being ridiculed, abused, belittled, made fun of.

People I care about being made to feel like extras in a play.

Being made to feel like they were unseen, unheard, invisible.

That's what set me off. My parents didn't raise no wallflower! They didn't raise a daughter who would sit in the corner and remain silent while people she cared about were hurt.

Nope. If any of you expected me to do that, SORRY! It's not going to happen! Some of us have remained silent for far too long.

I don't care who hates me (much like Mya), right is right and wrong is wrong and there is gray in between.

Because she doesn't have to. Some people are a allowed to speak their mind and so is everyone else. She was expressing her feelings about a subject that clearly upset her and she expressed them.
