On the front porch
Laughing and crying all at once
She has no idea the vodka belongs on the shelf
Orange juice beside the milk
It is the same front porch
That whispered baseball calls
To my bedroom window
As I peered down enticed
In time, now stumbling forward
Often infused by the same mixture
I recall her laughter was not quite right
And mine often sounds the same
From the front porch I forgive
As any good lesson I read
And now in her face reflected
The moment that I returned
p.s. in the never-ending battle to match wits.

*scratches her head*
Okay, not sure what happened there.
Carrie, just fired an email back to you.
-A
haha carrie said nuts, even though she spelled it nutz. I wont say anything. hee
Hey BC! Got it Amy, I'm just disappointed there wasn't audio on the website. :) The first time I ever saw that show, Terry and I simultaneously yelled, OMG, that's Jennifer!
give me 5 g's and I'll get you a butt monkey and a nedd. lol
goodnight
again
Yeah, anon, I was trying to talk all homey and stuff. :)
i was almost eaten alive by kittens today.
:D
TJ, what a way to go!
You can thank your Democratic congress for your gas prices and your recession.
Want more? Or worse?
Vote for Obama next month.
Oh fiddlesticks Teej!
Hiya BC!
-A
Thanks, I probably will. :)
it was fun, carrie! hi amyranth. :)
all i ahd to do was go into their room and stand still, and in less than a minute they were all on my feet, wrestling with my jeans, chewing on my shoes, climbing my calves...
so.
freaking.
adorable!
:D
The money that has been spent on this war is a travesty....but the loss of life is a complete tragedy.
They were so consumed with the thought that we Could take this country...they never stopped to think whether or not we should.
Most of the death happened after the war was won.
If this were a football game...I would call it bad coaching.
What was the plan here?
What is the perceived win...Do we convert all of the Muslims to Catholicism.
Is that when we march home in victory!
Aw, TJ, that sounds like so much fun! I'm still trying to figure out how to tame my outside kittens enough to catch them.
We don't "take" countries".
We give them back to the people.
we fight for other's rights and independence.
You'd be speaking German now if we didn't
we fight for other's rights and independence.
and we don't even have our own
Stupid bleeding heart liberals
carrie, it's food and just being around them that will do the trick. it takes a long time.
but i'm really enjoying helping my sister out, because there isn't much to do really, so we watch anime and cuddle kittens. :)
Nothing like babysitting Kittens!
I was babysitting one night for a family that had a baby, a toddler, and 6 kittens.
The baby, and the toddler were out cold by 8:30. The kittens finally curled up for bed around 1am. I woke up on the couch with them snuggled right into me.
I love kittens! ♥
-A
we don't have our own??!!
How stupid can you be?
Government has little to do with oil prices.
The Oil industry...just like Wall street I may add is simply unchecked greed.
Republicans want less government involvement...well guess what this is what you get when you leave important things like Health care and the nations Fiscal health run unchecked.
Ironic isn't it.
BTW..have a heart attack and try sending the hospital 25.00 a week till its paid up...chances are you'll be dead long before your debt even has a dent in it.
You have the right to draw unemployment, have food stamps, welfare checks, have all your health care, utilities, etc. paid for by the working people of the US.
Yes, we have it so bad...
And all the while, you can ride around in your cadillac or your BMW
I woke up on the couch with them snuggled right into me.
aaawwwwww! so sweet, amyranth! my favorite feel asleep against my leg today while we were watching a movie, and was purring. i pretty much melted.
Why shouldn't you be expected to pay for services rendered, like health care? If they'll take $25 a week, I say that's a good deal.
i love the fact that we're talking kittens and politics on the same blog. :)
You have the right to draw unemployment, have food stamps, welfare checks, have all your health care, utilities, etc. paid for by the working people of the US.
Yes, we have it so bad...
That's funny....i work and barely get by,and by the time i have to pay my bills , there is no money left....and i can't get food stamps or any benefits
You'd be speaking German right now
Or Japanese
11:07,
Supply and demand is one of the biggest influences on increased gas prices. Basic economics fact.
I just dumped an old bowl of cereal, and scarily enough, it made me tired :/
Hiya TJ.
I just love kittens!
Canadian politics won't make sense to any one here, so I won't bring it up.
-A
That's right, that's because you actually WORK. Our "Democratic" government is more interested in protecting and providing for those people who aren't willing to do for themselves and they expect the rest of us to take care of them.
I vascillate between being a bleeding heart liberal and a Republican. It makes my own mind boggle sometimes, it really just depends on the specific issue.
BC, have you been to see a doctor? I'm starting to worry about you.
-A
Ha, US politics don't make sense to me Amy, so it would be pretty much the same thing. :)

You have a way with words, i bet you would be a great debater.
How does it make sense that a family on welfare can also claim free breakfast and lunch for their kids at school, yet the majority of working people are sending their kids out with a piece of toast?
So Whats the truth?
hey there bc. i'm sorry to hear you're still feeling sick. :(
BC, have you been to the doc? Sounds like mono or something like that!
That's right, that's because you actually WORK. Our "Democratic" government is more interested in protecting and providing for those people who aren't willing to do for themselves and they expect the rest of us to take care of them.
October 2, 2008 11:25 PM
I agree
I'm fucking fed up with the whole minority bullshit, the ACLU, all of it.
I miss George. :(
11:27, the same thing is happening in Canada too. It's worse in the province I came from, where milking the Provincial Government for Welfare is a full-time job.
-A
I loved George Carlin in his younger years, but I don't think I'd want to join him where I'm afraid he might be now.
Well, I'm going to voting for McCain. He has so much more experience and knowledge that his opponent.
How does it make sense that a family on welfare can also claim free breakfast and lunch for their kids at school, yet the majority of working people are sending their kids out with a piece of toast?

Or when you go to the store, you stand in line with a basket of food and the people in front of you has two carts full of food and they pay with foodstamps.
Joe Blow from down the road cannot walk in and walk out with a 750,000 house in the Hamptons on a salary from McDonalds.
America could learn alot from Canada, Amyranth. Here, so many people want to blame everything on government They refuse to take any personal responsibility. They do get that 750,000 house on that 30,500 yearly salary. Then they can't pay the mortgage. The bank forecloses. Joe Blow is now homeless and loses his McDonalds job. The bank loses money so it raises interest rates. More people can't pay the mortgage. Banks and mortgage companies fold. More people are homeless and without health insurance. Everyone blames the government. Nobody but George Washington is responsible. He held a gun to all their heads and made them make all their bad decisions. It's the American way. Blame everyone and anyone but yourself.
And if you white people think this ain't making the blacks just absolutely "giddy" about the thought of getting you back after what your ancestors did 200 years ago you're crazy.
Let's not forget who orginally sold their people into slavery, ok?
It was their own people.
11:13,
I don't know about that. In my opinion I think Bush just sticks his nose in where it doesn't belong. Just because we're the most powerful nation , it doesn't mean that you have the right to interfere with another country's problems, but I'm guessing he doesn't give a damn if he violates another country.
And if you have paid attention to the news, it seems we're losing our rights in privacy because the governent is considering adding wiretaps to private citizens' phone lines, without requiring a supoena or search warrant, all in the name of "national security."
Something else to ponder
Alrighty then, 11:33.
Shit, I think I'll tip him off on a few phone numbers of the people here I've seen. They sound like they would join a terrorist group in a heartbeat.
We all need some therapy, because somebody came along and said “liberal” means soft on crime, soft on drugs, soft on Communism, soft on defense, and we’re gonna tax you back to the Stone Age because people shouldn’t have to go to work if they don’t want to.
And instead of saying “Well, excuse me, you right-wing, reactionary, xenophobic, homophobic, anti-education, anti-choice, pro-gun, Leave it to Beaver trip back to the fifties”, we cowered in the corner and said “Please, don’t hurt me.” No more.
I really don’t care who’s right, who’s wrong. We’re both right. We’re both wrong. Let’s have two parties, huh? What do you say?
Hi, Kapuanua
it said that vid was no longer available, anon. I suck at political discussion, I'm much better with kittens and tv shows and mindless minutia.
We need to drill in Alaska
I think private school tuition should be tax deductable. Parents are forced to send their children to private schools if they want their kids to have a decent education. The public school system in this country is in ruins. Why are parents forced to choose between eating and feeding their children or providing a good education for their children? That's what it comes down to in most places.
Kittens and televisions shows!
You know, I do not think there was ever a television show about kittens, was there?
-A
We can not keep relying on these foreign countries for our supply of fuel.
Hmm, really depends where you are. I have one kid in private, one kid in public.
anon at 11:40, that I totally agree with. I really would like to see more research in alternative fuel sources. That's really what my husband would like to get into, but he's kinda trapped right now.
not a lot of compassion on display here tonight. the political discussion was more interesting when you talking about actual situations, not just slinging cringe-worthy opinions back and forth.
Tom and jerry
Amy, Carrie, I don't have insurance so no doc for me. I'm tired because I didn't get enough sleep last night. I stayed up throughout the night trying to take care of myself.
Thanks TJ :)
amyranth, there was a cat on mr. rogers, but i can't think of a show dedicated to kittens. what a shame. :)
There's nothing wrong with public education. What is wrong is with how we expect those in the poverty areas to perform. They should be able to perform the same, but we have "allowed" so much that the standards have been lowered so much. It sucks
Sorry Carrie, try this one
oh, well, if you're talking cartoons, 11:42, sure. :)
Toujjours, you don't think we're talking about actual situations?
oh, well, if you're talking cartoons, 11:42, sure. :)
October 2, 2008 11:45 PM
They haven't found a real cat that could talk.:)
These are not "opinions", these are fucking facts
Yes, 11:43, a valid point. My college roommate is now a teacher in a poverty stricken area. The things she has to deal with are a little out there. And the policies continually let kids fall through the cracks. She was quite the optimist when she started, but now I think she's gotten sort of jaded, which makes me sad.
Please research the price of gas pre-democratic rule of the house and the senate and compare to today.
I agree 11:40. We need to provide more of our own oil until alternative energy is readily available. We have the oil. We just don't want to get it. We need less taxes. We need a better education and health care system. We need to instill more sense of personal responsibility and less sense of entitlement in our children.
Oh, thank you anon!
Except for that cat in the meow mix comercials that sang..meow meow meow LOL!
Teej, they must be worried about the cute factor. Too cute and it would never be aired.
-A
Carrie, I know it is so sad. Most people I know who started out in the teaching profession did so wanting help, to make a difference. But instead they are told to not waste time and to let these kids slip on through.
I am glad to see more people here tonight that have some sense.
11:40,
I absolutely agree, and irony concerning tonight's presidential debate, Palin supports the drilling of oil in Alaska, but I keep thinking what's going to happen when or if all of the oil from there dries out, and then what next? if the drilling happens, it will endanger the environment and many species of animals that resides there.
I don't support it.
All the democratics want to do is harp about the war.
What the hell would they have done if they had been in office when 9-11 happened?
Ooh, anon, that was a good one. Got me back on the bleeding heart liberal page. :)
Have you actually researched the area proposed for drilling? It is pretty barren.
i'm sure i've heard a talking cat somewhere... :)
as far as the comment sabout the welfare situation, most of those weren't facts, they were opinions. i don't pay much attention to political issues, but my mother worked for dshs for twenty years or so. i grew up on her stories. welfare is much more complicated than anything i read here tonight.
11:43
There is something wrong with the public school education system. It's not the students' fault. It's the system that is broken. That is why I think parents should have the option of sending their children to private schools. Either through school voucher programs or making tuition tax deductable.
11:52, I'm not sure. I don't so much buy into conspiracy theories about that day, I will say that much. It just seemed like the other World Wars (and I know this isn't a World one) seemed to have a little more purpose. But, I didn't live in that era, so maybe that seemed like madness too.
Please explain how complicated welfare is, TJ
9-11 was bin laden...Then why did we go to war in Iraq?
We have a pretty good thing here in our town. Not only do we have school of choice, so you can send your kid to any school in the county, we do have a Public Academy, that is more of a structured place with uniforms and the like.
11:48,
Hahaha. Those commercials always made me laugh. There's this segment in one of the old Simpsons episodes where Bart had to go to court and his dad was on jury duty.
This is what Homer said: "I know you can hear me boy. Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow."
Always made me laugh.
Iraq was supplying bin laden
i'd rather not, 11:56.
NOt to mention oppressing millions of people
Didn't think so, TJ
Anyone seen the Kitty Dance on YouTube?
"Cat? I'm a kitty cat! And I dance, dance, dance, and I dance, dance dance!"
-A
I'm reading things that would make the cast of Up with People sit down on the floor and cry.
Aw, I do wish the anon peeple would be comfy enough to take names and stuff. Really, we don't bite!
Oh, yes you do, Carrie!
11:58
In my opinion that's like asking why you arrest the lowly drug dealer and not the supplier.
Bruno, I did look you up, but I never watched West Wing, sorry. :) And Amy, we torture our cats with that, like every other day or so.
Iraq was supplying bin laden
October 2, 2008 11:59 PM
They never did find all those weapons of mass destruction
Well, I'm not worried. I know that my country is going to take care of me.
I thought anons were the bitey ones! :)
They found the supplies for it
Carrie, I tried it on Merlot once. He was horrified.
That's ok, you just keep thinking Iraq was totally innocent. You better thank your lucky stars, my sweet.
They never found bin laden either.
yes, it's mean but I laugh when their eyes start rolling around in terror!
If any of you vote for that slick Obama and elect the democrats in office in November, please don't come crying a year later. It will be bad, trust me.
But they sure as hell found Saddam.
i'm glad i could fulfill all your expections, 12:00.
*curtsies*
Just tells me you really don't know what you're talking about
I agree 11:40. We need to provide more of our own oil until alternative energy is readily available. We have the oil. We just don't want to get it.
That oil wouldn't even make a drop compared to what oil producing countries make. Theirs about 100-200million barrels of oils. Ours 10 million.
We need less taxes. We need a better education and health care system.
You can't lower taxes and expect to still be able to pay for better education. The government will have to cut services and they usually start with education and health car.
We need to instill more sense of personal responsibility and less sense of entitlement in our children.
That is not the governments job. That is the parents job.
October 2, 2008 11:48 PM
what I figured
12:03
I'm not talking about WOMD. I'm talking about financial support, the sharing of information, so called militia training and the spreading of hatred for the western world. As for WOMD, why did Hussein believe he had them?
Maybe I will just throw my vote away and play the Don't Blame Me, I voted for Bill and Opus card. Nah, I probably won't. But come what may, I won't act all butt hurt about it. Roll the dice, move your mice. All you can do is vote with your feelings.
cut taxes?
Then you better be voting Republican, darling!
saddam was an evil man...but he didn't have anything to do with 9-11
11:54,
Like what the other anon said, I think we need to look for alternative fuels. I don't think oil is going to last us forever.
Too many corporations are getting greedy from it. A few of them have reported over $400 million in profits, and I don't believe that is fair to the people who have to pay over $4 a gallon just so they can get to school or work, etc.
I think the government's solution for the oil crisis is to keep digging for more oil. I think it's a bit complicated than that.
11:58,
I think we went to war in order to search for Bin Laden, but my facts are a bit fuzzy. Seven years and billions of dollars later, we still haven't found the bastard. I honestly believe we have no purpose in being in Iraq as of now. I think we lost it a long time ago.
12:11 I do agree. Dude was off the evil scale.
I'm tired of it. Year after year after year after year having to
chose between the lesser of who cares? Of trying to get myself excited about a candidate who
can speak in complete sentences. Of setting the bar so low, I can hardly look at it.
You want to pay more taxes on your money? You want to pay more taxes on your investments? You want to pay more taxes on any inheritance?
Vote Democrat! By all means!
G'night, my fellow Americans
Can't we talk about something stoopid now? My brain is all hurty with thinky think and trying not to sound dumb. I know, typical dumb fat American response. :) I am the lost Simpson.
12:09
I think you missed the school voucher and making private school tuition tax deductable part up there.
I think you also missed we need to instill a sense of personal responsibility in our children. We as in parents and family.
Night, 12:14. The first time my fat fingers totally mistyped that and I was way in the future. :)
You want to pay more taxes on your money? You want to pay more taxes on your investments? You want to pay more taxes on any inheritance?
Vote Democrat! By all means!
October 3, 2008 12:13 AM
I think the democrats and the republicans are the same. No matter who wins ,our taxes are always going to go up!
G'nite Carrie and Bleeding Chaos.
Taxes are what we pay for civilized society.

I think you missed the school voucher and making private school tuition tax deductible part up there.
You do know that in some stated they allow alternative schools to apply for those vouchers. School that teach witchcraft. (I don't think there is anything wrong that.) But that is what happens when you use vouchers.
But the biggest problem with these thing it takes money away from public school. Leaving less choices for parents and children alike.
I think you also missed we need to instill a sense of personal responsibility in our children. We as in parents and family.
And how would Democrats coming in power stop you from teaching your children those things?
October 3, 2008 12:14 AM
Taxes are what we pay for civilized society.
October 3, 2008 12:19 AM
Well i wish the government would be more civilized and let me keep some of my money! LOL!
Goodnight
I've got my youngest in parochial school now, and that has totally sold out my own beliefs. That's not really relevant to the convo in an arguey sense, but just something I'm saying. She is definitely being taught things that I totally disagree with, it's a constant struggle for me. My family is harmonious and dichotomous at the same time, it's just freaking weird, if you wanna know the truth. We all love each other though.
Goodnite
Goodnight anon and 12:14 anon.
Sleep well to whichever anon(s) are leaving.
I'm gonna go watch The Thing, and lay down for a bit. I shall be back later.
Okay, BC, enjoy. :)
good night bc, good night anons.
So I've been taking advantage of my three free months and watching the HBO series True Blood, has anyone read the books that it's based on?
Goodnight Teej and BC!
Carrie, can't say that I have. Is the show any good?
-A
nope, i haven't carrie.
It's kind of interesting, I will give it that. But right now it looks like my dvr fucked me because I'm trying to watch an eppy and there's no sound. Gah!! Hate and love technology all at the same time.
Is that about vampires co existing with humans?
And the theme song is good, yeah, the sound came back. :)
Yep, anon, evidently it's based on a series of books, I want to say somebody Harris, but I could be wrong.
hello!
charlaine harris, carrie?
'Allo Ergo!
-A
Yes, TJ! That's the name!
hi ergo. :)
Hey Ergo!
holy moly, carrie...about sookie stackhouse, the barmaid? and bill her vampire boyfriend? and eric the sheriff of the area's vampire community????
those books???
Ha, I think we're all vampires. The dude is talking about when vampires live in nests, they become more cruel and vicious. I'm getting a total blog vibe. :)
'ello 'ello 'ello!
Tj I see you survived kittens again today! :)
Yes, TJ, Sookie!
:)
i did ergo. :)
but only one more day...then i have to say goodbye. *sigh*
if there was someway to take a kitten with me back to seattle, i'd claim my favorite. :(
TJ, is her boss a werewolf?
hi anon :)
TJ I'd have a houseful if I could, I would so end up a crazy cat lady
omg carrie. that series is one of my favorites. i love charlaine harris. i love eric. (bill's a weenie. lol)
it's called "true blood"? how long has it been on? tell me more!
Ergo, wish I could mail you my outside kittens.
yes, carrie! shoot. i don't have hbo.
ergo, i was more a crazy cat lady when i couldn't have one than now that i do. the deprivation warped my brain. ;)
I'll be a crazy old dog lady.
Toujours you obviously would recommend it as a good read then?
There's only 5 episodes so far, TJ. They cast Anna Paquin as Sookie, which I guess caused some uproar amongst the fandom, but they seem happy now. Bill I'm still on the fence about. So far I like her boss better. And I'm wondering if Stephenie Meyer is a ripoff artist. And oh, it's quite graphic in a sexual sense. :)
Ohhh , how so carrie?
i would, 12:59. charlaine harris has a way of writing characters that are enjoyable to read. i love getting inside sookie's head, and the vampire bits are very plausible. i check each new volume out of the library as soon as i can get my hands on them.
carrie, i'm going to have to see if i can't figure out a way to see some of thse episodes. i'm amazed, i had no idea! so very very curious now. :)
I think I'm out.
Goodnight Lovelies, Mayo and SS.
-A
sounds good Carrie I'll have to look out for it
we can all be crazy animal people together anon!
Well, there are graphic sex scenes, with boobses and butts and stuff. And bouncing and yelling, you naughty anon. :)
Goodnight Amy!
goodnight amy sweet dreams
oh and carrie you're little girl is so cute, and the possum you have is really different to ours
good night amyranth, sweet dreams!
Thanks Ergo, I grew her myself! And what do your possums look like?
Nothing wrong with bouncing and yelling. ^_~
Would much rather watch graphic sex scenes than someone getting mutilated or tortured.
Yeah, I'm with you there.
Hello again :)
Am I supposed to like the boss guy more than Bill? Because I soooo am.
Goodnight amy sweet dreams
brushtail possum
hello again bc. :)
carrie, if the show folllows the books, yes, feel free to like the werewolf more than bill. like everyone more than bill, actually.
hi BC
Ergo! No fair! Your possums are cuter.
oh yay me!!
and I wasn't even looking
*happy dance*
they are really cute Carrie, at my aunts they come along the verandah and you can give them bits of fruit
but they get in rooves and make an awful noise outside in mating season (hence hubby throwing things at the tree some nights)
Hi TJ :)
Are you guys talking about Charlaine Harris? I purchased the first book in the series long ago, but never got around to reading it. Any recommendations?
I also want to check out the show. Is it any good?
Hiya Ergo.
read that book, bc. do it! :)
I'm liking it BC, but I didn't read the books.
TJ.....I lost it. Lol, but thanks.
Thanks Carrie.
well, if you ever find it again, bc, i recommend it. :)
I must have a look for them at the library
Thanks TJ :)
I'm off to bed guys, thanks for the chat as always.
good night carrie, sweet dreams.
goodnight Carrie sweet dreams
Night carrie
