Cereal monogamy

On the front porch
Laughing and crying all at once
She has no idea the vodka belongs on the shelf
Orange juice beside the milk

It is the same front porch
That whispered baseball calls
To my bedroom window
As I peered down enticed

In time, now stumbling forward
Often infused by the same mixture
I recall her laughter was not quite right
And mine often sounds the same

From the front porch I forgive
As any good lesson I read
And now in her face reflected
The moment that I returned

p.s. in the never-ending battle to match wits.

Hi cookiebelle, Ergo, Amy. Hi RW *squeeze* how are you?

Ergo, I got a few hours of sleep, but I'm still feeling really tired, so Ive been on bedrest all day. I didn't initially went to bed until around 7 in the morning. I stayed up all night fighting bouts of nausea, chills, and frayed nerves.

resurrected wreck said...

That sucks, BC :(

I don't feel well either, but it's just a headache in my case.

Attention!

Please go out and rent "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon."

Now my second favorite movie ever!!!

Please, it is soooo good.

resurrected wreck said...

Who is Leslie Vernon?

Anonymous said...

You gotta watch it to find out.

Well, unless you're really grossed out by horror movies.

I respect and understand if that's the case.

But if not.... So amazing!

ergoproxy said...

what is it about anon?

Anonymous said...

It's about a student reporter who comes into contact with someone who claims to be training to be a killer the likes of Jason, Freddy, etc.

She and her small crew follow him around and document his everyday life.

But not all is as it seems.

Really nice twist ending.

resurrected wreck said...

Actually, I quite like horror movies.

But the creepy, ghosty ones, not the slasher ones.

Anonymous said...

What's nice about it too is that it barely has any gore in it at all.

Isn't all exploitative and gross like alot of horror movies currently.

Anonymous said...

So yeah. It was independently made and I just can't say enough about it.

The emotional drama is actually the engine behind the story, not killing people.

Okay. I'm done. Yay, I have no life but what's in movies!

I'm a geek. Thank you for listening to me.

Anonymous said...

It does suck RW. Ever since last weekend, all I wanted to do is sleep. Today is no exception.

I hope your headache gets better. Maybe we should summon the Tylenol fairy ^_^

Hi anons.

ergoproxy said...

oh so it's kind of a fake documentary type thing?
It sounds like a really novel approach
I will have a look for it, I like horror, but too much gore seems to cheapen the movie, a lot still forget you need a decent gripping plot and cahracters

Anonymous said...

Oh and I am not completely autistic. I did notice that several of you are currently suffering.

I hope Love and flights of fancy carry away your corporeal woes.

Wow.

I mean, I hope you feel better soon.

resurrected wreck said...

Horror movie anon, have you ever seen the film Battle Royale?

Anonymous said...

Ergo,

I am unfortunately such a snob when it comes to my horror and this movie stunned me. Here.

Wait, don't you live in Australia? I know they still censor movies but this one, as I said, shouldn't be because most of it is dialogue. Lemme....

Good idea!

resurrected wreck said...

I haven't seen it myself, 7:30pm, but my supervisor at work always goes on about how good & how seriously fucked up it is!

resurrected wreck said...

Have you seen The Descent? I was quite impressed with that one.

ergoproxy said...

AMY & RW!!!

I thought of you when I found a cute little denim skirt at a 2nd hand store and it is made in Canada, by Silver Jeans

Anonymous said...

Thanks anon

Anonymous said...

The Descent is another fantastic one because, once again, it's not slasher or just creepy. It has so many interesting little points made about relationships, the friendships of women, rebirth, tragedy in our lives....

So good!

resurrected wreck said...

I thought of you when I found a cute little denim skirt at a 2nd hand store and it is made in Canada, by Silver Jeans

Isn't it funny how articles of clothing travel around the world! You never know where things are going to end up.

I have a grey velvet & fun fur coat that was made in Britain. I found it in a second hand shop in Kensington Market downtown.

resurrected wreck said...

Have you ever watched the bloopers reel at the end of The Descent? One of the funniest things I've ever seen!

ergoproxy said...

oooh thanks anon!
I think it looks brilliant, and it sort of pokes fun at the stereotypes but obviously has a very dark plot also

I must look for the others you've all metioned too

I love old horror, my fave is Dead of Night, but also things like Hitchcock that suspense is sooooo goosebumpy

Anonymous said...

I know! I love bloopers reels.

Thank you for being so kind to me despite my anonymity.

However, I must go work out. Watch yet another movie while doing so.

I hope all of you have a splendid evening here in Mayo's house and no trolls come hiding under the front stoop.

-A

Very nice! Is that her daughter?

Nope. She doesn't have any kids yet. I think maybe that's her husband's niece.

Amyranth said...

RW, you were saying a few days ago that your supervisor wasn't letting you guys slack for a minute on the costumes, even though you weren't getting paid for overtime.

-A

resurrected wreck said...

That was the Head of Wardrobe, not the supervisor. Though she wasn't as bad as it may have sounded. I volunteered to do the extra hours & get that in time off instead of overtime pay.

I may be leaving work a few hours early tomorrow.

Amyranth said...

Ohh... For some reason, I equated that as supervisor.

BC? Where'd you go?

-A

Anonymous said...

I'm here Amy. I was taking a nap.

resurrected wreck said...

Thatw as my fault, A. I didn't explain it very well, I fear :S

I call the cutter the supervisor, as most people outside of theatre wardrobes don't know what a cutter is, though I suppose the Head of Wardrobe is a supervisor as well.

Amyranth said...

Nah, don't worry about it. I probably read it wrong.

BC! *prods* Wake up!

I'm really glad I'm no longer a manager/supervisor/person in charge anymore. It's incredibly relaxing.

resurrected wreck said...

How's Palin doing? Has she crashed and burned?

Amyranth said...

resurrected wreck said...

Wow, Harper's getting lambasted by everyone!

Anonymous said...

Amyranth said...

She's a lot of the babble I don't understand, but she might have said something that makes sense. She's only got 90 seconds, why does she keep starting off her arguments with anecdotes?

I'm waiting for Harper to fold his arms and frown and just not say anything else for the next hour and a half.

-A

Anonymous said...

Biden's about to pop a major artery just about now.

resurrected wreck said...

Harper's been pretty calm so far. People expected him to blow a gasket last night at the French language debate, but he didn't.

Does Palin look composed?

Anonymous said...

Maybe Biden should have entered a few beauty pageants. Could have learned something about grace under pressure.

Anonymous said...

The Fix
There has been a lot of talk over at Mayo's about how to "fix things".

Well, I've got a few ideas, and I can guarantee that very few people are going to like them.

You want to fix things at Mayonaise's? Why not give the stage to someone else once in awhile? Constant self-centered posts, be they about what you're doing every exact second of every day, or posts as "Random Televison Character" really monopolize the conversation. Is that fair to anyone? Nope.

What's that? Scroll past it? You know, that would be a genius idea, if it didn't make up 75% of the blog replies. Ignore, ignore all you want, but it is still there. It's still used to derail current topics of conversation. It's used to force people to stop talking, and it's used for attention. It's beyond pathetic.

It used to be different, when everyone was involved. Now, nobody is involved and it feels to me like it's on purpose.

Next? Well, there's the rampant suggestion that "people suck" when they don't consistently stand up for everyone on the blog at any given time.

I'm sure I've said this before. You are damned if you do, and you are damned if you don't.

However, I'm going to hell in a 24k handbasket, because I refuse to stand for anyone who is comfortable to spend the day, night, mid-afternoon, whatever, belitting, undermining, harassing, or even outright insulting people who I consider to be friends.
Who gives anyone else the right to do those things? Nobody.
They are done, and done again. And over and over. I have seen the posts. The veiled comments behind my back. I've even seen the assumption that I am every nasty Anon that has ever visited Mayonaise's blog.

I haven't replied to this prior, but I will now.
I have a job. I do not have internet access at my job. I do not check this blog until I am at home and on my own time. I pull a regular paycheck every two weeks. I have a life.

Can you put 2 and 2 together?

The comments are duly noted. Especially the ones that call for the shutdown of Mayo's blog, when nothing has happened, except for a few friends having a good time. Oh yes, I've seen those too. Please, don't kid yourself. Going to read porn, and openly discussing sex and sexual behaviour are no different.

Oh, but here I am, in blatant disagreement with a lot of things. A lot of people. Oh well. I suppose I can't be blacklisted any more than I already am, can I?

I have also noticed something. This is quite troubling to me, mostly because I know that it doesn't bother me what Anonymous Vultures say, but it has, and clearly does bother others.

Why does it seem to me that if you disagree with the so-called "popular opinion", you can pretty much count down the seconds until there are Vultures nipping at your heels, and pointing fingers at you?

Are we ALL so always in the wrong? No. I frequently see many polite discussions with polite disagreements, and the day goes on. The world spins, the dove sings, and the moon rises and sets.

If you can't have a POLITE discussion about anything, without resorting to name-calling, derogatory talk, or even threats, you do not even have a right to open your mouth.

"Real adults - mature ones - realize that different people have different tastes. Really realize it, as in: they don't just say they do, they mean it and take it to heart. As opposed to trying to FORCE their tastes on anyone within earshot. Particularly when said "anyone" has expressed profound dislike of said thing-that-is-within-said-adult's-tastes. Real grownups don't feel the need to be a conversational dictator."

(Clearly exempt from this are Anons that come in with the claws and teeth at someone's throat for no decent reason.)

Here's something else to ponder. Why would you discuss things, or even provide information that you can be used to harass you and possibly make your life unhappy?

This is the internet, darlings. Regardless of who you are, you should never provide information, or allow access to information that anyone can use to identify you offline. Ever. Period. You put yourself and everyone around you at serious risk when you do that.

Why make yourself a target? Why make anyone else an unwilling target?

I have felt for a very long time now that there has been a movement to push people away from Mayo's. It is painful to read and even more painful to say. I do not form this theory lightly, and I wouldn't say it unless I truly felt that it was affecting everything that we all used to enjoy so much.

The blog has been centered more and more on certain people. Whether it is they themselves who are being villainized or celebrated, I have become increasingly aware that the rotation is squarely around them. No longer is this blog about camaraderie, it's not about Family, or even is it about Mayo and his Lovelies.

There is no inclusion. There is no friendliness. There is no love, and no "home".

My mother said to me once "If you're being picked on for something, pay attention to what is being said. If it's the same thing over and over again, maybe it's something you should think about changing."

People will not conform to your expectations. They will not conform to your will. They will not take up your ideals, your thoughts, or your mentality. They especially will not tolerate attitude from anyone who attempts to lord over them.

If you seem to be the problem, look at them, and ask yourself what you plan to do. If the answer is "Nothing", then do not be surprised when the circle around you gets wider, and wider.

For those of you that complain about the divide in the House of Mayo, here's some of your reasons why. If anything can bring it back to what it was, I feel that fixing these problems would be a start.

They are not minor.

They are not going to be easy.

I think they can be worth it.

Do you?

-Amyranth.

Amyranth said...

She looks smug, but Biden just stumbled a bit over some words.

Amyranth said...

RW, the french language debate always strikes me as the one that gets most heated. At least it SOUNDS that way. They could be saying NASTY things to each other, and I'd have no idea.

So I overdub it in my head.

-A

resurrected wreck said...

I think she's gonna get her own tongue twister, when they ask about foreign policy.

But she lives next to two foreign countries, that makes her an expert on foreign policy!

Anonymous said...

Foreign policy. Biden will probably insult the legal immigrants again.

Besides, I have to head to bed soon. Opera singers need their costumes, otherwise they go onstage nude, and no one wants to see that!

Has Palin said anything scary yet?

Amyranth said...

Palin has the experience, but Biden is backing the realism.

SNAP. Palin got Biden to say he does not support gay marriage. I have no problem with it. Apparently Biden agrees with Palin's stance.

resurrected wreck said...

I wonder, A, how any of them plan to cover the costs for the economic plans they're proposing.

All I know for sure is that the Conservative cuts to Arts funding could possibly affect me, as I work in the arts. Luckily, I think the opera is mainly funded by private subscribers, not government funds, or I'd be in trouble.

Amyranth said...

Palin doesn't support Gay Marriage either? Oh-oh.

Gay marriage debate? I'm glad we've been-there-done-that here already and moved on.

Oh. Now she just reminded Biden that he said he would be proud to run on the ticket with McCain. He must've forgot he said that.

resurrected wreck said...

RW, I would say the Opera is private. Aren't shows determined on sales of Season tickets?

Yes, I think so, A. And the opera always seems to do well. We've already sold out tickets for a couple of this season's performances.

Anonymous said...

Guess he changed his mind when Obama offered him the VP position and McCain showed no interest.

Amyranth said...

Same here RW.

The biggest problems facing Canada right now are the potential collapse of economy, and how to handle the Green Issue.

-A

resurrected wreck said...

Oh. Now she just reminded Biden that he said he would be proud to run on the ticket with McCain.

Did he used to be a Republican?

resurrected wreck said...

Yep, A. Economy and the environment seem to be the key issues here.

Anonymous said...

Are the paramedics standing by for Biden?

Amyranth said...

I think the biggest thing, not just for you but for me as well, is the disposable income, or lack thereof.

People don't need to pay to see the Opera, and people don't need to pay to do crafts. If they're suffering under bills, they can easily forget those things and we're both in big trouble.

-A

Anonymous said...

No Resurrected Wreck. He was never a Republican. He just said he would be proud to run on the same ticket as his good friend John McCain. He changes his mind fast when the right offer comes along.

Lack of family doctor issue:

People don't need to pay to see the Opera, and people don't need to pay to do crafts. If they're suffering under bills, they can easily forget those things and we're both in big trouble.

Indeed.

resurrected wreck said...

I don't have a family physician. Haven't had one since I left British Columbia 7 years ago. Good thing I'm in good health. But that could change, and at the moment my only options are clinics or the emergency ward.

Amyranth said...

RW, are you on healthcare? A trip to the ER for a broken toe could be pretty expensive if you're not.

-A

resurrected wreck said...

I have basic coverage, A. That's all.

Anonymous said...

Biden's eye is twitching now and he keeps repeating himself. I bet he's glad this is the only time he'll have to debate Palin.

Well, it's my bedtime & I'm still headachy so I'm going to turn in.

Have a good night, all :)

Can anybody decipher what Biden just said about his vote to go to war but not go to war in Iraq?

Amyranth said...

Why does Palin keep bringing up Alaska?

I'm just curious.

-A

Anonymous said...

I get it now. He was in favor of going to war when he thought it would be an easy war. He changed his mind when he realized war was war. Too bad he couldn't take that yes vote back.

Eye contact Amyranth. Very important. She probably learned that in those beauty pageants.

Amyranth said...

10:10, she terrifies me by doing that. I mean, eye contact is nice, but you could involve the audience in the auditorium too.

Then again, I've never competed in a beauty pageant and with good reason.

Palin is shaking. hasnt answered the questions asked of her. she looks bad. wont look Biden in the eye.the repubs are in bed with the oil companies. Mc cain needs to give the oil companies bigger tax breaks. sure, makes sense. all palin can say is in
"my state" in "my town". there is a whole big ole country out there sister not jusy alaska!
she is not versed in foreign affairs. she doesnt know the voting statistics of her own running mate. the moderator had to ask her if she wanted to amswer a ques she asked that was never answered by her.
lets have the already unstable health care system in this country get even worse by giving a 5,000 credit to tax payers but it costs 12,000 for those benefits. Oh yeah, lets fund those tax credits from the existing people who do have health care. who will then soon be dropped by the companies who cant afford it anymore. lovely plan Mccain, plain. Get Real would you. outta touch doesnt even begin to describe those two.
go biden, go biden, go biden

Another anonymous interested in the economy. How do you feel about people who continue to take out loans when they haven't repaid prior loans. People who still owe tens of thousands of dollars and plan to keep on increasing their personal debt instead of repaying what they already owe.

Anonymous said...

its called the govt 10:18

Anonymous said...

You think the government should be responsible for personal loans. For people living outside of their means. For buying a 50 K car when they can only really afford a 15 K car. Where and when does personal responsibility come in?

Anonymous said...

Wow ...that Senator Biden sure makes a lot of sense....but FOX keeps showing those rear shots of Governor Palin...and I gotta say, she is really swaying my vote.

Amyranth said...

Personal Responsibility should have been in effect for a LONG time.

I'm living in a house that is 275,000. I know people younger than me that are living in a house worth 600,000 because of the "no downpayment" credit catch.

I'm struggling to make ends meet, but I'm doing it. I have to do without sometimes. I have to sacrifice. I have to put the Oreos back on the shelf and wait longer for my Nintendo DS.

If I have to do these things, why should there be a pay out for those who are in WAY over their heads due to excess and luxurious living? Why should I pay extra in taxes to cover the asses of people who can't be bothered, or who don't care?

***Not from the USA, pulling a Palin and equating my life in Canada to that in the States.***

FOX should not be swaying. They're fair and balanced.

i may rename plain to plain jane.

Biden has statistics and vast experience in congress. She does not. It isnt because she's a woman. I wanted Hilary.

I am not a fan of Obama. I must choose the lesser of the two evils in my humble opinion. still my right to have one.
Look at it this way. If Mc cain kicks it, he is up there and feels he doesnt have to answer to anyone (elitist) who will be in charge? Plain? No way baby.

On the other hand. Obama will have no choice but to listen to the experience that comes from his vp candidate.

exits again, only this time...stage left!

Seriously. We can watch the debates for ourselves. We don't need a play-by-play.

Jesus. Is Kapu back? This place is shit.

Anonymous said...

Holy goodness gracious...maybe its the glasses!!!!

Amyranth said...

The glasses? What, is she Superman now?

With a nice butt.

I'm not very political.

Amyranth understands personal responsiblity. She struggles but manages to get by and does not add new debt upon old debt. She does not blame the country of Canada for her problems. She understands that many times life is rough and you do what you sacrifice when you must. She gets my vote for VP.

Amy. I am in the same boat and I hear you. I do without certain things myself. Only buy clothes on deep discount at Kohls for 4 bucks etc. even that can be a splurge.
No car loans is a big no no. will help anyones budget. another story.

Kapu is back? I dont know. I am not her.
I hate Fox news. Its entertainment not real news.

10:28 I dont know if you have the attention span to watch a paper bag

I swear, all I can see when I look at Palin is Tina Fey. It's eerie.

And now the spinners will spin.

Anonymous said...

haha carrie. too true

Anonymous said...

You're all a bunch of fucking hypocrites.

Amyranth said...

10:34, I also have no choice. The interesting difference between Canada and the USA is that we rarely have "No Money Down" mortgages. There are a small handful of companies that do them, but they are for low-income families exclusively and I believe you have to apply, and them be approved for them. Joe Blow from down the road cannot walk in and walk out with a 750,000 house in the Hamptons on a salary from McDonalds.

I think we should elect Amy Queen of the World.

Carrie said...

Hey anon, saw you on DM I think, and you do have a point.

Anonymous said...

i like that one

Amy is not stupid. so knock it off anon. cant you discuss not go on an attack?

Carrie said...

I didn't watch the whole debate, just itty bits. We were watching Pushing Daisies from last night and My Name is Earl, which made me fricking laugh out loud. I love that show.

Amyranth said...

10:38, bad idea. I crumble under pressure.

I'm sure there's lots of people out there with the common sense not to get themselves into massive debt. Yes, there are some people who have extraordinary circumstances and cannot avoid it. I just don't think it's a wise idea to put everyone at risk for something like this. Unfortunately, I think sometimes, you have to let people flounder for a bit. You have to give them a taste of how bad it could get.

Amyranth said...

Carrie, did you see the episode of My Name is Earl where they filmed the episode of "Cops"? I thought that was awesome.

OMG Amy that is another bust a gut one. I didn't so much like last season when he was in a coma for most of it, but they are back in form this season. And I swear, I know Joy in real life.

Anonymous said...

Maybe not...but point being...no one, NO ONE will undo this complete and utter screw up in four years...if you think this will be fixed with a couple more windmills....your a dreamer.

Until you catch Binny Boy, America will never be safe. Until you find and destroy these little traveling cavalcades of death in Afghanistan and put Iran in check...this will always hang over out heads.

Its interchangeable. Who wants to be king of the world...its all the same. Whomever wins...you will wake up the next day, go to work...and the government will take what they want...and you will have to figure out how to divy up the rest.

And me....well I am an antichrist....I am an anarchist.... I think you know the rest of that song.

Carrie said...

I have to admit I was talking to hypocrite anon, because I do think that if K had been on here discussing politics tonight there would have been screamy fits.

Anonymous said...

I love a good mass debate.

Anonymous said...

Who is a hypocrite. I noticed you mentioned it twice. You wont say who? Why?

Amyranth said...

Until you catch Binny Boy, America will never be safe.

This may be a sore point, but I think Bin Laden on the loose isn't killing Americans on native soil anymore. It's the boys and girls that get sent over that are sacrificed.

I'm all for supporting the troops. A close friend of mine is married to a man currently in Afghanistan, and I hope every day that he comes home alive.

However, I do wish this war hadn't started. I wish there had been a way to stop this all from happening. But, it's history. And we're writing the books, I guess.

Amyranth said...

People are allowed, have always been allowed, to come and go as they please.

I have two friends that husbands are in Iraq right now. Scary.
I support the troops. They dont need to be there longer than they have to. Another good point is they shouldnt have been there in the first place!
