Cereal monogamy

On the front porch
Laughing and crying all at once
She has no idea the vodka belongs on the shelf
Orange juice beside the milk

It is the same front porch
That whispered baseball calls
To my bedroom window
As I peered down enticed

In time, now stumbling forward
Often infused by the same mixture
I recall her laughter was not quite right
And mine often sounds the same

From the front porch I forgive
As any good lesson I read
And now in her face reflected
The moment that I returned

p.s. in the never-ending battle to match wits.

Why do the OPS always get called out on their story about Frank and flirting with him.... yet Kapu "kisses" Mayo and no one bothers her about it??? Hmmmm? Double standerd darlings.

JocelynHolly said...

She's seven months and 8 days old. Not talking, per se, but when she see's me she says "Hiiiiiieeeee". When she sees my sister is "Maaaaa"

Anonymous said...

*hugs grasshopper* how is school and everything?

JocelynHolly said...

Sister Midnite!!!

*hug*

Been sportin' any new boots lately?

^_-

JocelynHolly said...

BC, I've been 'forgetting' to do my homework, but am slowly catching myself up!

Currently, I am in the process of finding a new job.

How's grocery boy? Have you talked to him yet? =]

As Mayo gags and wipes his lips and throws up in his mouth a little.

Amyranth said...

Are you gonna teach her anything PH?

Like... WAZZZZUUUUPPP!

I knew a kid that did that, it came out as "Aaaaaaaaapp!", but she stuck her tongue out and everything.

-A

JocelynHolly said...

That's soo cute Amy!! The tongue thing must have been adorable!

I'm not sure yet what to teach her, but I think for sure I'll make her a little hell giver for her Mama.

Nope, PH - not a new boot in sight. Except the one I'm saving to break off in a mean anon's ass.

Been tryin' to do some back-reading again. Who wouldn't thought we'd ever see the day when bloggers had their own fan clubs (and NOT-fan clubs)?

Time to go grab some dinner.
I miss you guys!!!

(Except the shit-starters, who I'd looove to send some Maple Leaf meats to. )

*waves* "See" ya!

Anonymous said...

Does anyone else that dickweed / many of the anons are Triston?

JocelynHolly said...

SM I'll help you out with that! I never back read really, but today I decided to and BAM! That one Anonymous comment pissed me off.

Be back in a few. My nieceling is crying and I'm babysitting her.

Amyranth said...

PH, give her a drum kit for her first birthday. And give mom some earplugs!

We wanted to get Mister's Niece a drumkit, but we couldn't fit it in the car. :P

-A

JocelynHolly said...

I could get her bongo's! They sell some pretty sweet one's at Quest, the place I take my lessons. That was the first thought that came to mind when I saw them... NIECELING!

And I didn't realize you were leaving Sister Midnite! I hope we talk again sometime soon!

♥♥♥

Amyranth said...

*grins* Good idea PH! She's at that age where she needs to learn co-ordination, and bongos are the perfect thing to teach her.

Next, the bagpipes.

-A

Anonymous said...

That's very irresponsible of you grasshopper ^_^

Ah 'grocery boy' I have the distinct urge of wanting to pull his ponytail, then kick his skinny behind. I'm torturing him by not visiting the store frequently ^_~

JocelynHolly said...

Bagpipes!?

Can we make her a kilt too?

Amyranth said...

PH, your wish is my command!

What color tartan?

BC, some guys consider that a turn-on! I say go for it!

-A

JocelynHolly said...

I know Bleeding Chaos, shame on Paperheart! There's just other things I'd rather be doing, when I know that I should be doing my homework.

AHAHA. Pull his ponytail when there's a little old lady around, and if he asks who did it, blame it on her. I bet he misses seeing you!

JocelynHolly said...

Uhmmmm...

I'd say blue. Blue/black/grey, you know that look? %_% (that is a very interesting face by the way)

Anonymous said...

Good luck with the job search PH. Bye Sis M

Amyranth said...

LOL. There's baby kilts online! They're all polyester, but they're pretty cool.

-A

JocelynHolly said...

Thanks BC! I'm making $8.75 an hour right now, a little over min. wage, and I barely get any hours, and with my cell phone bill, guitar lessons (I've recently started paying for those myself), bus passes, random goodies, etc I am always broke. So either a new, better paying job, or a 2nd job is the answer for now.

^_^

JocelynHolly said...

You have to be kidding me Amy!!

I must get one for the nieceling for Christmas! That would be TOO adorable!

Amyranth said...

$8.75, really?

Where were you working? The Local Coffee Shop? I know they pay around that. *wink wink*

-A

Amyranth said...

They even have wee baby sporrans!

And they're like.. $25!!

Man, I want kids now. They're fun to dress if you know where to look.

Amyranth said...

Hallo Carrie. Keep skimming.

PH, still. Tim Horton's only paid me $9.00/hr when I was full-time backshift.

Stay away from Tim's.

!!!

You should get her the kilt, a sporran, AND a black "leather" jacket with rubber spikes coming out of it!

Except you won't see her again until she's married if you do.

I want the nieceling to be a little punkling. That'd be too adorable! My sister knows my intentions, and just laughs them all off.

JocelynHolly said...

P.S. I always thought Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker were an odd couple. But I watched The Sex & The City movie for the first time last night! Cried like a baby actually! I've been watching that show since I was 8 years old! (Which could explain how my mind thinks of some of the things it does ^_-)

Okay, byee! <3

I just love the all in ones with feet. they look like little teddies.

BC goanna are cute, they are really pretty too, they can bite though so big ones are just for looking at, lol
they aren't vicious or anything if you leave them alone they ignore you

I have to admit, I have never seen an episode of Sex and the City, although my college roommate told me about one episode that was talking about the "hover pee" and it did sound hilarious. Maybe I should hit up Netflix and see what I've been missing.

hello ergo! :)

i think so too. very strong.

Apparently, Mr Lee is doing the covers for Dallas.

-A

Carrie said...

Hey TJ! I had never heard of that comic, of course, I haven't heard of a lot of recent ones. I didn't get back into comics until the Buffy Season 8 came out. When I was young though, Tales of the Unexpected was my fave.

OK thanks to whoevre answered my question about Kapu kissing Mayo. I don't see the big deal in that but whatever. I read it a different way.

Now can someone fill me in on why OPJ get mad and left? I can't find it or figure out.

Carrie said...

Ok, it must have been The Unexpected, because the whole Tales thing was over by 1968, and I was only a year old then. Huh. My brother totally stole our old comic collection, so I have no way of finding out.

toujours said...

hi bc, hi carrie! i actually started out most embarrassingly with the whole archie/disney run of comics. but the first thing i read beyond that was elfquest, and after that i pretty much camped out next to the graphic novel section of my library (small though it was).

amyranth, gabriel bá is taking over doing the covers now, did you know that? i read that james jean is concentrating on his studio art now. i'd love to see some of those, someday.

Carrie said...

Night Amy!

Amyranth said...

Teej, no I hadn't heard that. Maybe Jim Lee is only doing so many covers then?

I'll miss James. I love his Vanya on the cover of the trade. Hey, did you ever get your hardcover?

-A

Carrie said...

Oh duh, TJ, I totally forgot about Archie! Although the Sabrina comics were my fave, natch. I remember I even had the record cut off the back of a cereal box? The Sugar, Sugar one?

Goodnight Amy, sweet dreams

toujours said...

omg carrie, i forgot about sabrina -- and geez, how about richie rich and wendy and casper? i read those too when i was a little kid!

tbh honest, i always read anything if it had anything to do with witches. that's how i ended up reading macbeth in the 6th grade. "double double, toil and trouble" lol

toujours said...

i'm sorry 11:40, didn't mean to be rude. i think if you just backread a few pages, it only happened last night if i remember correctly. :)

Carrie said...

Yep, Richie Rich and Wendy too, although those were more my brothers ouvre, I think you guys are close in age. I did love the comic books, the squeaky racks, the smell, just all of it. It's almost a little "slick" now with the merchandising for my taste. I liked it better when the ads were for novelty magic tricks and stuff instead of figurines and other tie ins.

Carrie said...

Oh, sorry anon, yeah, I'm not sure what happened, any answer I gave would be conjecture, and that just gets spun from a dirt devil into a hurricane in here.

Anonymous said...

Thanks. I read her comment but I don't know what got her mad at Mayo. Thanks.

toujours said...

oh yeah, those ads. oh man. :)

i didn't read them for a long time, moved on to sci-fi and fantasy pretty early. maybe that's why elfquest was such a big revelation to me. i had had no idea you could tell real stories with art!

i still stayed away from comics though -- they were such "boy" things. lol finally went to a comic shop with my boyfriend (now ex) in college and rediscovered wonder woman...

and then manga...

and the rest is history. :)

Teenage Girl, looking at A7X t-shirts: *whiny voice* "Why can't I ever find my size in anything?"

Mom: "Well can't you find another shirt you want in your size? Look, they have this My Chemical Romance shirt in a small."

Teenage Girl: "God, Mom. *rolls eyes* I listened to them when I was fourteen. The only people who still like My Chem are freshmen and middle school kids."

My friend and I lol'd so much we had to leave.

Revenge sold 2½ million worldwide, so they've shipped about 6 million units in total. They're probably very well off compared to your average 30 year olds, but if he keeps spunking away his cash on monkeys (and coke?) Don't worry - Jimmy Page does appear on the drop down menu. A rock dinosaur is considered more buzzworthy then those little fucks. And were talking about a teenie site. Maybe that's why MSI hate him so much.

I am beginning to realise that I don't seem to care anymore. The hurt and betrayal I used to feel when I first realised I had been fooled by him has lessened these past few months and I feel I owe some of that to this blog.

it's so amazing. :)

toujours said...

it's true, carrie, and even the stuff we think we know about changes all the time.

i was reading this article a few weeks ago about something called "dark drift". it's like the dark matter that scientists believe exists out there in space, but this is causing galaxies to move in a way that is completely against the notion that the universe is constantly expanding after the big bang.

so now that might not be true, or at least not wholly true.

i mean...it blows the mind! :)

well, i have to admit, the science after a bit starts to go over my head, but i do like that woozy feeling.

ergo, i read that book! my ex liked to read about quantum physics, even though the science was beyond him, too, so we looked into all those entry-level books and shows. i read a book (the title escapes me atm) written by the higgenbothams (a married couple) about modern paganism, and they had a chapter about quantum physics, and the way the science can be seen to describe the way we understand how magic works, as well.

so cool.

toujours said...

hi there bc, how are things going for you tonight?

Carrie said...

I guess I should go, and crawl into bed. I'm kind of in vacation mode since I don't have to get up to take the youngest to school. And thanks for hanging with me, that helps me get through my freak out of my kid all camping miles and miles away from me. And anons, please? Just, wait, I think there's some James Taylor lyrics I need to find.

ergoproxy said...

carrie have you heard from her? is she having a good time? nice weather and all?

Carrie said...

HUGE DISCLAIMER---I am not a Christian, yet I still feel these lyrics are quite apt.

So much for your moment of prayer
God's not at home
There is no there there
Lost in the stars
That's what you are
Left here on your own

You can only hope to live on this earth
This here is it, for all it's worth
Nothing else awaits you
No second birth
No starry crown

For an un-believer like you
There's not much they can do
It would turn you away
Though I hate to see you surrender
You need to surrender
We must find you a way to

CHORUS:
Look up from your life
Up from your life
Look on up from your life
Look up from your life

There's a river running under your feet
Under this house
Under this street
Straight from the heart
Ancient and sweet
On its way back home

Even in the middle of your sadness
The everyday madness
The ongoing game
Even when you can't find a reason
Still there is a reason
You don't need to name it
Look on up

Look up from your life

Only for a minute
To find yourself in it
To wait by the stream
To drop out of your dream
Look on up

Look up from your life

No, Ergo, there's no phones allowed, well, except the main camp phone. That is what is freaking me bigtime, loss of control, not knowing what she's doing. She's been almost 11 years on this Earth, and for most of them, I knew what she was up to!

Mayo

Sorry I didn’t write a proper goodnight last night but there are things going on in my ‘so called real life’ that had me very down. I couldn’t really talk about it. Knowing that I have some wonderful friends I could speak to helped but still the problem was me. Sometimes I can’t really put into words, or to be more precise won’t put into words what’s wrong. I don’t want to which only leads to it festering in my brain. Not a good thing but that’s just how I am. I will say though I spent most of last night with Flighty. Oh now I’m shaking my head and sighing. Yep, that still sums up how I feel. Just when I think she’s gonna be okay I find out I’m very wrong. And add that worry to everything else and it all just is overwhelming. Last night I just had to shut down. Not a good answer to the problems but the only one I could take. Know what I mean?

Anyway, just thought I’d try to explain why I didn’t talk to you last night. And you know what? Sad but I missed it. In a weird way I wanted to lay all my troubles at your feet. Not that I think you could do a damn thing about them. It was just because I wanted to tell you. Now that is just silly. Of course because you don’t speak when I rattle telling you things does have its appeal. Get what I’m saying?

So tonight I’m still not a happy camper and I don’t want to burden you with that mood. I do want to say it was a beautiful thing you did posting Fimble’s story. We can all use a reminder to look at the world around us and see beyond our own little space, our own little dramas.

Well nice talking to you Mayo. I just want to tell you again that even when I can’t really be here I’m here in spirit. I think we have that in common.

Night Mayo

Would you like some Merlot or some Cabernet? The Reisling is nearly gone.

And I do NOT recommend the chillable red box wine. Its essentially Koolaid. Whoever put that in the cupboard is not an alocoholic :)

How are you?

Work's been okay, but I'm currently looking for a second job, or at least a new one, but since the economy's been sucking, it's been a bit difficult.

The store where that "friend" works is still hiring, so I'm gonna apply there again tomorrow and see what happens, and I'm hoping to start school up again sometime in January. I'm hoping.

As for this "friend" I concocted a plan(which I told Amy and PH) and it consists of pulling his ponytail when the opportunity comes. It's weird, I really like his long hair ^_~

ergoproxy said...

I have been known to become very talkative miranth! lol

it was really lovely :)

mayo,

well, what the fuck am i doing being here, still sitting at my folks' computer? i landed here in early may, and this morning i turned the calendar, yet again.

i'm sure there are a ton of reasons for it...i hadn't seen them for about six or seven years so at the very least this has made up for that.

but, here i am.
going around in circles, even in my good nights to you.

i was thinking about it, last week. i was coming up with a game plan, and suddenly realized i was afraid to put it into action. once i leave here, it's going to be very difficult. it's going to be hand-to-mouth for an unknown length of time.

so part of the reason i'm still here is because i'm hiding. i'm stuck because i have mired myself.

not very proud of that.

i'm listening to drive by tonight, and their music is reminding me of standing in the crowd against the barrier in all those cities. of what it felt like to be a part of that looping circle of energy that sustained me all the other hours of the day. i'm still her, somewhere, inside under the mud, aren't i?

gods, i hope so. i need her.

good night, mayo. be bright and blessed, my friend, always.

miranth said...

BC - That's a great opportunity - in terms of both the job and the friend! ;) I would stroke the ponytail rather than pull it, but that's me!

That actually sounds very naughty. :D Its the alocoholism, I am afraid!

ergo. I think you may be an alocoholic, too! :) YAY! Our group keeps growing!

That was very sweet of them to send the gifts - and it was sweet of you to show the Ray - action figure - :) - around Australia.

I wonder where he'll travel next?

I am finishing a post - then I will go too. So goodnight, but I will check back for a minute later.

miranth said...

Goodnight anyone still around.

I finished my post and am quite happy with it, which is unusual. But it was something that I needed to say.

Everyone - I hope you don't allow the divisive, and cowardly, reposting of old comments to harm your friendships. I suspect that is the goal of the crude person(s) who take(s) delight in doing so.

I haven't read back, as I felt writing was more important at this juncture.

Mayo - RE: this post: While we enjoyed twisting a cruel person's words for our enjoyment, if you suspect a loved one has a problem with alcohol, please seek help. And if you are now practicing cereal monogamy, I suspect you already did

Good luck, either way.

Have a great day everyone, and I will be back as my technology allows!

How are you all this a.m/p.m? Well rested and well, I hope! It really is amazing what a good 6 hours of sleep can do, isn't it?
I really should remember to do that more often. (I think I have said that before.) Well, it was good advice, to myself, and deserved to be repeated!

Amy: You're giving that bicycle of yours quite the work out lately! I have no doubt you look very pretty on that perch!
Pssst....where's that case we talked about? ;)

Sweetcheeks: I'm glad you liked our new word! We can't be expected to spell correctly, now can we? *wink* for you too

Another pop quiz is coming soon. Be prepared!

Carrie: You kilt it? I've been known to "kilt" it a time or two myself!!!

Ergo: *smooooooch*

Miranth: How could I forget to ask Amy to pick up a case, of Cabernet or Merlot, for you. I'm sorry! You can share mine! I'm also sorry about that phone call. My bed (and Reeko) beckoned. How could I say no? He did have such a long flight!

*note to self: take picture of Reeko in all his preciousness*

Oh, and please tell Cleo thank you for letting us know what happened to you a couple of nights ago!!!

TJ: How's your sister? Is she all settled in back home?

Elena: *more hugs* Sandy Ann and Tinker Belle will be sending something off to Jake today. Please let him know!

You know what this blog is like?..... Heaven. If Mayo was God it would be the perfect analogy. When it started out Kapu was the favorite of God. Then she decided she wanted to take over "Heaven" and make things the way she thought was right. (Poems, "what I did today" posts, movie characters and games). The others fought this take over. Eventually she was pushed out of Heaven with the others who sided with her and acted like her. That makes discussmayo "Hell". It's the oldest story in the world.

Where is everybody???

Morning, Mayo. Morning, BBer's/Lovelies/assorted anons.

I was back-reading a few of the most recent posts, and while the amount of poison in them is beyond unbelievable, there were a few posts that made me laugh, too. I haven't gotten through a whole lot of them yet, but the attack on the OP's for the Germany thingie was pretty chuckaliscious.

I go way back on the MCR fandom. Years. Probably before the OPS.

You mean all the way back when you were 12? Lucky you. :p

Another thing that's been making me chuckle is the anon's who were talking about the guarding of this blog, which is pretty funny. Most of the people who've been accused of elitism were here since the beginning. If they (we) *were* elitists, Mayo's blogs would still be at the 50-ish comments instead of drowning in crap.

The fact that anyone would try to dictate what should and should not be said in Mayo's blog is sheer naivete in itself. If Mayo minded what Kapunua or Solly or Smoke or ANYONE said, I'm sure we would have heard about it way before now. All that comes to mind about this is one phrase: Jealous much?

Anonymous said...

You didn't just call Kapunua Lucifer. Lucifer was the most beautiful angel and also God's most beloved angel. Kapunua is..... seriously nowhere neither. And if you think Mayo is God then you need help. There is a true God and you should look to Him.

There has been a lot of talk over at Mayo's about how to "fix things".

Well, I've got a few ideas, and I can guarantee that very few people are going to like them.

You want to fix things at Mayonaise's? Why not give the stage to someone else once in awhile? Constant self-centered posts, be they about what you're doing every exact second of every day, or posts as "Random Televison Character" really monopolize the conversation. Is that fair to anyone? Nope.

What's that? Scroll past it? You know, that would be a genius idea, if it didn't make up 75% of the blog replies. Ignore, ignore all you want, but it is still there. It's still used to derail current topics of conversation. It's used to force people to stop talking, and it's used for attention. It's beyond pathetic.

It used to be different, when everyone was involved. Now, nobody is involved and it feels to me like it's on purpose.

Next? Well, there's the rampant suggestion that "people suck" when they don't consistently stand up for everyone on the blog at any given time.

I'm sure I've said this before. You are damned if you do, and you are damned if you don't.

However, I'm going to hell in a 24k handbasket, because I refuse to stand for anyone who is comfortable to spend the day, night, mid-afternoon, whatever, belitting, undermining, harassing, or even outright insulting people who I consider to be friends.
Who gives anyone else the right to do those things? Nobody.
They are done, and done again. And over and over. I have seen the posts. The veiled comments behind my back. I've even seen the assumption that I am every nasty Anon that has ever visited Mayonaise's blog.

I haven't replied to this prior, but I will now.
I have a job. I do not have internet access at my job. I do not check this blog until I am at home and on my own time. I pull a regular paycheck every two weeks. I have a life.

Can you put 2 and 2 together?

The comments are duly noted. Especially the ones that call for the shutdown of Mayo's blog, when nothing has happened, except for a few friends having a good time. Oh yes, I've seen those too. Please, don't kid yourself. Going to read porn, and openly discussing sex and sexual behaviour are no different.

Oh, but here I am, in blatant disagreement with a lot of things. A lot of people. Oh well. I suppose I can't be blacklisted any more than I already am, can I?

I have also noticed something. This is quite troubling to me, mostly because I know that it doesn't bother me what Anonymous Vultures say, but it has, and clearly does bother others.

Why does it seem to me that if you disagree with the so-called "popular opinion", you can pretty much count down the seconds until there are Vultures nipping at your heels, and pointing fingers at you?

Are we ALL so always in the wrong? No. I frequently see many polite discussions with polite disagreements, and the day goes on. The world spins, the dove sings, and the moon rises and sets.

If you can't have a POLITE discussion about anything, without resorting to name-calling, derogatory talk, or even threats, you do not even have a right to open your mouth.

"Real adults - mature ones - realize that different people have different tastes. Really realize it, as in: they don't just say they do, they mean it and take it to heart. As opposed to trying to FORCE their tastes on anyone within earshot. Particularly when said "anyone" has expressed profound dislike of said thing-that-is-within-said-adult's-tastes. Real grownups don't feel the need to be a conversational dictator."

(Clearly exempt from this are Anons that come in with the claws and teeth at someone's throat for no decent reason.)

Here's something else to ponder. Why would you discuss things, or even provide information that you can be used to harass you and possibly make your life unhappy?

This is the internet, darlings. Regardless of who you are, you should never provide information, or allow access to information that anyone can use to identify you offline. Ever. Period. You put yourself and everyone around you at serious risk when you do that.

Why make yourself a target? Why make anyone else an unwilling target?

I have felt for a very long time now that there has been a movement to push people away from Mayo's. It is painful to read and even more painful to say. I do not form this theory lightly, and I wouldn't say it unless I truly felt that it was affecting everything that we all used to enjoy so much.

The blog has been centered more and more on certain people. Whether it is they themselves who are being villainized or celebrated, I have become increasingly aware that the rotation is squarely around them. No longer is this blog about camaraderie, it's not about Family, or even is it about Mayo and his Lovelies.

There is no inclusion. There is no friendliness. There is no love, and no "home".

My mother said to me once "If you're being picked on for something, pay attention to what is being said. If it's the same thing over and over again, maybe it's something you should think about changing."

People will not conform to your expectations. They will not conform to your will. They will not take up your ideals, your thoughts, or your mentality. They especially will not tolerate attitude from anyone who attempts to lord over them.

If you seem to be the problem, look at them, and ask yourself what you plan to do. If the answer is "Nothing", then do not be surprised when the circle around you gets wider, and wider.

For those of you that complain about the divide in the House of Mayo, here's some of your reasons why. If anything can bring it back to what it was, I feel that fixing these problems would be a start.

They are not minor.

They are not going to be easy.

I think they can be worth it.

Do you?
