On the front porch
Laughing and crying all at once
She has no idea the vodka belongs on the shelf
Orange juice beside the milk
It is the same front porch
That whispered baseball calls
To my bedroom window
As I peered down enticed
In time, now stumbling forward
Often infused by the same mixture
I recall her laughter was not quite right
And mine often sounds the same
From the front porch I forgive
As any good lesson I read
And now in her face reflected
The moment that I returned
p.s. in the never-ending battle to match wits.

What's wrong anon?
*phew* have my new vcr/dvd set up
I hate you have to retune everything
Hello, Hello......
*sigh and grin* my girl bought Mylee Cyrus CD today with her own money - first music she's ever bought herself.
We watch Hanna Montana too, and it's not bad, her songs are quite boppy and catchy but it's now on the 5th consecutive play!!
(prior to that we had a Kylie CD - lol)
but it is cute seeing how excited she is
elena!! hi how are you?
Hey Ergo
How's it going?
for Miss T and GS and other fellow Anglo's :)
funny
make a flake
pretty good thanks elena
had a trip to town for a new vcr thing which I have successfully connected to the tv
and I'm just starting dinner
how have you been?
Hey elena
I pretty much just took the day off. I needed it. Now I'm just relaxing and looking at all the work I need to do and ignoring it.
Oh hey BC
Good to see you.
gosh anon those photos are beautiful!
and I think I made the mongiest snowflake! lol
and we are on play #6
Thanks elena. Good to see you too.

I was wondering if I was all alone
Hi BC and elena!
And goodnight TJ. Sleep well. :)
Night TJ
Hello Miranth
hi miranth!
how are you?
I keep out of US politics I don't understand the system but it is very clear that it's an incredibly important election, I really hope people choose wisely
Ergo I just sent you a picture I love.
Hi elena - did you enjoy your day off? Its a healthy thing to do for yourself periodically, especially if you're stressed!
ergo - I used to be passionate about politics - till Bush was elected a second time. I wash my hands of it. Its healthier to remain ignorant at this point. But I do hope people make a wiser choice in next election. I am just worried that racism will play a not insignificant role. I have little faith, just now, but perhaps they'll surprise me.
I got it elena and I agree
miranth politics here seems much simpler, thank goodness
mayo,
i was heading toward the kind of night that ends in me writing a good night to you very like last night's, discouraged and whiny.
i hate giving you that kind of good night.
but i'm just so...frustrated. i don't begrudge helping my sister out, i truly don't, and it's even fun, what with that little pride of kittens she's sheltering. but it's also yet another thing keeping me from going forward, when i barely have any energy to move forward with!
so tonight i was stewing and finally just started writing. it isn't even anything serious, just another little scenario springing from a "what if?" and it doesn't have a plot and may never.
but oh gods, at least it's writing. the struggle to find the hook at the beginning that will pull me into the scene, and then all that description, figuring out just where that one word goes for the best flow and rhythm and meaning. and i'm using third person omniscient, which i never do. i usually try to stay with one character, but this is a challenge too, as is keeping the flow smooth from person to person.
it leaves me no time to curl in against myself. it means i can't hear the whisper's mantra of "you're nothing" if i'm too busy trying to build the scene with words of my own.
i don't know if this is something i really will be able to do for a living. my doubt goes beyond whether or not anyone will ever want to read the stories i have to tell, it extends even to whether or not i'll be able to find these stories within myself, if i will even have the stamina to tell them to their ends.
but it feels so good to write.
i really think it is the thing i was born to do, if i can get out of my own way to do it.
i saw the new crescent moon setting tonight, mayo. maybe she'll lend me her power of beginnings.
good night, friend.
ergo - By simpler, I take you to mean more honest :)
BTW, for accuracy, I did not mean to imply that big businesses pay no taxes, just that there is legislation that favors them.
Also, I only meant to post my rant and leave, as I know no one likes to discuss such things, but I am surprised and pleased to see that I have company!
Hang in there TJ
Things will work out just as they should.
Sweet dreams
TJ - I am glad you find solace in writing. I feel the same about it sometimes. Sweet dreams.
TJ yu'll be fine, I just know you will
:)
Miranth no I mean simpler, we don't have all this pre selection stuff etc
the parties elect a leader and they put out their policies, debate etc, but it's a much shorter simpler process
I don't think they're necessarily any more honest lol
ergo - here, politics seems to be a commodity, mainly because of the business ties, so there is a lot of marketing involved in politics.
I slept peacefully through tonight's debate! YAY ME!
:D
Either blogger or my computer is acting up. I may disappear with no notice.
Perhaps I should delete the above political mentions? I have a feeling that they don't belong here. (Though sparked by the earlier comments.) And perhaps, neither do I, just now.
I have to decide quickly...
miranth it's topical for teh US people here, I just don't get involved as I don't know enough to comment intelligently
Mayo
What’s up? Did you have a good day? I took the day off. Yep, took it off from everything. A much needed break. I spent the day just doing whatever I wanted. Oh and I found a great Halloween store. It was huge and holy crap did they have some great costumes. I’ve never seen so many costumes in one place. This place had not only the run of the mill stuff but cool costumes like the Aqua Teen Hunger Force characters. Not that I want to dress up like a package of french fries or anything but still it was a neat costume. Hell they everything from Slipknot to Frank N Furter. It made me realize I’m really looking foreword to Halloween. I’ve totally decided to dress up this year. I mean since I make my employees dress up I guess I should too. I just can’t decide what to be. Good thing I still have lots of time to think about it. You gonna dress up this year?
Anyway I just wanted to say ‘hey’. No deep thoughts from me tonight. I had no epiphany today and I’m glad. There are too many things going on in my life right now that while I would love to deal with, I can’t. I am powerless. This isn’t a cop out on my part, just the simple truth. And the thing I’ve realized is I can sit all day and worry about these things I can’t do a damn thing about or I can just get on with my life. I can do only so much, I can offer only so much of myself. I try and try until I become numb.
Have a great day tomorrow.
Night Mayo
Elena ( maybe Princess Leia, I do have a lightsaber after all.)
goodnight elena sweet dreams
(but can you rock the hair?)
ergo - I am about to delete my other comments and I relize you never answered my question about your animal friends!
How are they? :)
realize^ oops
ergo - I will check back to see your reply, as I am feeling hot and need to sleep again. I deleted the comments as I don't want to give out too much information here, anyway - and I accidentally insulted a group of people - I had to read it twice before I realized!
And I can always repost it at my place, if necessary.
But I am actually feeling feverish - I must've caught something from BC the other night. I give her lots of *hugs* :)
elena - I hope you feel stronger soon.
I see a lot of people are feeling poorly and I hope everyone feels better soon.
Take care of yourselves!
PS - Wendy - My connection is like a seesaw - up and down, so I haven't read back to find out who Reeko is. I hope you enjoy his company in any case! And hopefully I will speak to you soon. *HUGS* Thanks for the thought about the wine - us alocoholics can always use more!
sorry miranth it was time for dinner
my animals are all great , we lost one of the guinea pigs a few weeks ago, but they are old now, the other 2 are fine, Chickens are clucking along, producing sooo many eggs, the cats are good, horses are fine
take care and hope you don't get sick, and if you do that it's over quickly
ps I would totally squee over ducklings too!
hey mayo!!
i've not been around much of late. various reasons.
hope you are doing alright mayo? would be nice to hear from you soon. take care of yourself.

and that's me.
i've been spending time back reading. lots of smiles, mixed in with lots of laugh outloud moments, mixed in with sadness and anger. very much like real life.
has left me feeling a little bit empty though, and sad, and thoughtful.
take care everyone.
love to you all.
Good morning/afternoon/night SS, Mayo, Miranth, Ergo, Amy, Elena, Sweetcheeks, Carrie, TJ, RW; various anons, watchers and lurkers; liberals, conservatives and somewhere in the middle (perhaps independents) folks in the land o'blogbelieve!
How are you all this morning? Happy, well and planning a fun Friday night, I hope!
Miranth: Reeko IS cute! His hair is two (different) shades of gold. His leg muscles are incredibly strong. He does have very large feet; but, you know what they say about men with big feet! And, he has the most adorable Australian accent!!!
Ergo sent him my way!!!!!! ;)
Ergo: Congratulations on the top spot, again, honeybunch!!!!
How's the titoring going? Have you started again since returning from your big and dangerous (for Ray) adventure?
Pssst.....
<_<
>_>
The 2nd falcon flew at midnight. He should be their in approximately 16 days. Be on the look~out for him and,.... for goodness sakes; BE CAREFUL!
*smooooooch*
Sweetcheeks: I'm sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. :(
Try to take it easy and get more rest today. You want me to bring you some soup? Your pop quiz has been delayed until you feel better!
*huge hug and kiss*
For your reading pleasure and pondering consideration today:

A Smile
Barbara Hauck
She smiled at a sorrowful stranger...
The smile seemed to make him feel better...
He remembered past kindnesses of a friend
And wrote him a thank you letter...
The friend was so pleased with the thank you
That he left a large tip after lunch...
The waitress, surprised by the size of the tip,
Bet the whole thing on a hunch...
The next day she picked up her winnings,
And gave part to a man on the street...
The man on the street was grateful;
For two days he'd had nothing to eat...
After he finished his dinner,
He left for his small dingy room...
He didn't know at that moment
That he might be facing his doom...
On the way he picked up a shivering puppy
And took him home to get warm...
The puppy was very grateful
To be in out of the storm...
That night the house caught on fire...
The puppy barked the alarm...
He barked till he woke the whole household
And saved everybody from harm...
One of the boys that he rescued
Grew up to be President...
All this because of a simple smile
That hadn't cost a cent...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SMILE, everyone! Share your smiles. It could help change the world!
I hope you all have a good day!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
Gerard being non responsive to someones wave an just staring at them isn't a good sign to me.
Maybe he was really high?
or my theory that I already stated... HE'S AN ASSHOLE!
Seriously, he just doesn't care.
Not even to say hello to someone, either that, or maybe he didn't wave back because he didn't want to cause a commotion if one of the 5 billion fan girls at the MSI show saw his hand (I don't know how you can recognize Gerard's hand from any other person, but the fan girls totally know how... LOL.)
Either way, it was messed up. I would have been super duper angry.
Maybe he was trying to be "cool" in front of Chantel and Frances. It fits in nicely with the asshole theory.
Honestly, I call em' like I see em'. Gerard just wants to be an ass.
Sad but true.
Back to black? Big whoop. At this point I couldn't care less about his hair. I'd rather hear that he's back to not being an asshole.
Not holding my breath on that one, though.
That Gerard is gone! Fame loving, too skinny, couldn't give a fuck about his fans, asshole Gerard is in his place. This band is so done thanks to him.
After I saw MCR at PR it felt like the old Gerard was dead. He was such an ass. I'd seen My Chem half a dozen times before and he never acted the way he did on that tour. At the time I didn't know about LynZ yet.
I don't think we'll get the old Gerard back. I think he's gone for good. After watching the jerk onstage last year I don't even think I want him back because I could never believe in him again.
And you have to wonder if when the new record comes out (if it comes out) what lengths the label will go to to try and restore what was destroyed by Gerard's actions. The problem is, like you said, no matter what Gerard does now to change none of us will believe it because we've already been dooped by the a-hole.
I think they'll try and pass everything off a "confidence", Gerard might (for the sake of money and fame) pull the "I was in a bad place and my wife helped me realise that I was wrong" thing or try and reappeal to the teenies of the future. Although that will fail because they're FAR to old. I don't think they're old but the teenies will. Plus, Gerard is rapidly losing his looks, Mikey is losing his hairline, Bob and Ray aren't pin up material in the eyes of fickle girls and Frank......I doubt he'll be back.
Yes, I think Gerard will show up with some elaborate "life-altering" story to tell for the next record. With Bullets it was 9/11, with Revenge it was the death of his grandmother, with TBP it was the break-up of his "six-year relationship that was practically marriage" (only he left out the part about how that one was caused by his cheating with Eliza). And oh, yeah, Mikey's pesky emotional breakdown, although you almost have to laugh about how he actually managed to make that one seem to be about him (he was so distraught without his brother he couldn't write and so depressed he didn't shower for days, lol). Puh-lease.
Thing is, I don't really give a shit about his life crises anymore. I don't buy into them like I used to and I don't think other fans will either, because he's shown us just how much of an asshole and a liar he really is.
So, yeah. Good luck with that next album, boys. If you actually manage to stand one another long enough to make it, that it.
I know, everything that happens to the different band members seems to effect Gerard more. Bob has a bad leg, Gerard is the most effected. Mikey has a breakdown, Gerard is the most effected. It's just all about him.
I think Frank will leaving, taking James with him.
If the two of them formed a band I would love it. Especially if they could get Toro to join in. Ooh, and Matt Cortez on bass. Hey, a girl can dream, right?
why have i never listened to modest mouse on headphones? why, i ask you? :O
i have seen their live show, i know what the stage looks like once they're done setting up (you have to be verrrry patient to see this band live. lol), why did i never have the curiosity to see what i would hear if i listened to them with headphones?
i am astonished.
the world is all shiny and new!!!!
:)
and now i have to go get ready to be mauled by kittens again. *heh*
"people as places as people"
:)
To answer a question
It'll probably take more
If you're already there
Well then you probably don't know
Well we were the people
That we wanted to know
And we're the places that we wanted to go
It's hard to get hold of
And hard to let go
Always something we look for
From the day we were born
Instead we're the people
that we wanted to know
And we're the places that we wanted to go
Yeah we're the places that we wanted to go
We're the places that we wanted to go
Always asking a question
And I don't want to know
Like the wind across strings
That had finally let go
And the people you love
But you didn't quite know
[ Find more Lyrics at www.mp3lyrics.org/9HIu ]
They're the places that you wanted to go
Bark at the neighbors
And then bark at the dog
Sniffing the wind
Whimpering for someone to know
But we were the people that we wanted to know
And we're the places that we wanted go
Yeah we're the places that we wanted to go
Yeah we're the places that we wanted to go
It was not the intention
But we let it all go
Well it messed up the function
And sure fucked up the flow
I hardly have people that I needed to know
'Cause you're the people
that I wanted to know
All this scrambling around
Hunting high and then low
Looking for the face love
Or somewhere to go
I hardly have places that I need to go
'Cause you're the places that I wanted to go
Yeah you're the places that we wanted to go
Yeah you're the places that we wanted to go
You're the people that we wanted to know
Shouldn't have to ask
You shouldn't have to ask
'Cause we are your real place
oh crap. i forgot to take out the tag. :/
oh well!
have a good day blogbelieve.
bye!
bye mayo. *chucks you under the chin*
bye mayo. *chucks you under the chin*
Better than kissing him at least.
The halls of the castle are so empty. I know it goes against Amyranth's "Fix" but i miss the games. Sorry I just do.
"Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle..."
I think you know the rest, Mayo. I send this to you in all honesty. I never stopped sending it to you. I don't think I ever will. I hope with all my heart that protection is with you. I have a feeling you need it now more than ever.
OPJ I thought you left in a huff when Mayo put Fimble's story up?
I'm not OPJ, anon. I have no fight with you. This was for Mayo only.
Are you the anon that said the castle halls are so empty?
If you were, it seems to me many have been run out of these halls. Some by false friends, some by outside forces, some by the constant hatred that flows so freely from fingertips, and some even by Mayo himself.
Your words help no one. They only hurt, even yourself.
Mayo's hair is black again.
Heh.
OPJ, why do you think that Mayo ran you out of the blog? Why did it hurt you so bad when he posted the story? I don't see how he "ran you out of the blog himself".
Stop whining about it being "empty". The truth is that Amyranth's Fix was helpful to this blog. It might even be what saved it. We don't have to put up with random movie quotes, poetry and pictures of bees all the time. If that is "empty" then I'm glad it's empty.
Mayo where the fuck you be at bitch
no one on the corner has swagger like Mayo
Mayo you're hot then you're cold
you're yes then you're no
you're in and you're out
you're wrong when it's right
it's black and it's white
we fight, we break up
we kiss, we make up
you don't really want to stay,no but you don't really want o go
Oh! Think Not My Spirits Are Always As Light
by Thomas Moore
Oh! think not my spirits are always as light,
And as free from a pang as they seem to you now,
Nor expect that the heart-beaming smile of to-night
Will return with to-morrow to brighten my brow.
No: -- life is a waste of wearisome hours,
Which seldom the rose of enjoyment adorns;
And the heart that is soonest awake to the flowers,
Is always the first to be touch'd by the thorns.
But send round the bowl, and be happy awhile --
May we never meet worse, in our pilgrimage here,
Than the tear that enjoyment may gild with a smile,
And the smile that compassion can turn to a tear.
The thread of our life would be dark, Heaven knows
If it were not with friendship and love intertwined;
And I care not how soon I may sink to repose,
When these blessing shall cease to be dear to my mind.
But they who have loved the fondest, the purest,
Too often have wept o'er the dream they believed;
And the heart that has slumber'd in friendship securest
Is happy indeed if 'twas never deceived.
But send round the bowl; while a relic of truth
Is in man or in woman, this prayer shall be mine, --
That the sunshine of love may illumine our youth,
And the moonlight of friendship console our decline.
The Fix
There has been a lot of talk over at Mayo's about how to "fix things".
Well, I've got a few ideas, and I can guarantee that very few people are going to like them.
You want to fix things at Mayonaise's? Why not give the stage to someone else once in awhile? Constant self-centered posts, be they about what you're doing every exact second of every day, or posts as "Random Televison Character" really monopolize the conversation. Is that fair to anyone? Nope.
What's that? Scroll past it? You know, that would be a genius idea, if it didn't make up 75% of the blog replies. Ignore, ignore all you want, but it is still there. It's still used to derail current topics of conversation. It's used to force people to stop talking, and it's used for attention. It's beyond pathetic.
It used to be different, when everyone was involved. Now, nobody is involved and it feels to me like it's on purpose.
Next? Well, there's the rampant suggestion that "people suck" when they don't consistently stand up for everyone on the blog at any given time.
I'm sure I've said this before. You are damned if you do, and you are damned if you don't.
However, I'm going to hell in a 24k handbasket, because I refuse to stand for anyone who is comfortable to spend the day, night, mid-afternoon, whatever, belitting, undermining, harassing, or even outright insulting people who I consider to be friends.
Who gives anyone else the right to do those things? Nobody.
They are done, and done again. And over and over. I have seen the posts. The veiled comments behind my back. I've even seen the assumption that I am every nasty Anon that has ever visited Mayonaise's blog.
I haven't replied to this prior, but I will now.
I have a job. I do not have internet access at my job. I do not check this blog until I am at home and on my own time. I pull a regular paycheck every two weeks. I have a life.
Can you put 2 and 2 together?
The comments are duly noted. Especially the ones that call for the shutdown of Mayo's blog, when nothing has happened, except for a few friends having a good time. Oh yes, I've seen those too. Please, don't kid yourself. Going to read porn, and openly discussing sex and sexual behaviour are no different.
Oh, but here I am, in blatant disagreement with a lot of things. A lot of people. Oh well. I suppose I can't be blacklisted any more than I already am, can I?
I have also noticed something. This is quite troubling to me, mostly because I know that it doesn't bother me what Anonymous Vultures say, but it has, and clearly does bother others.
Why does it seem to me that if you disagree with the so-called "popular opinion", you can pretty much count down the seconds until there are Vultures nipping at your heels, and pointing fingers at you?
Are we ALL so always in the wrong? No. I frequently see many polite discussions with polite disagreements, and the day goes on. The world spins, the dove sings, and the moon rises and sets.
If you can't have a POLITE discussion about anything, without resorting to name-calling, derogatory talk, or even threats, you do not even have a right to open your mouth.
"Real adults - mature ones - realize that different people have different tastes. Really realize it, as in: they don't just say they do, they mean it and take it to heart. As opposed to trying to FORCE their tastes on anyone within earshot. Particularly when said "anyone" has expressed profound dislike of said thing-that-is-within-said-adult's-tastes. Real grownups don't feel the need to be a conversational dictator."
(Clearly exempt from this are Anons that come in with the claws and teeth at someone's throat for no decent reason.)
Here's something else to ponder. Why would you discuss things, or even provide information that you can be used to harass you and possibly make your life unhappy?
This is the internet, darlings. Regardless of who you are, you should never provide information, or allow access to information that anyone can use to identify you offline. Ever. Period. You put yourself and everyone around you at serious risk when you do that.
Why make yourself a target? Why make anyone else an unwilling target?
I have felt for a very long time now that there has been a movement to push people away from Mayo's. It is painful to read and even more painful to say. I do not form this theory lightly, and I wouldn't say it unless I truly felt that it was affecting everything that we all used to enjoy so much.
The blog has been centered more and more on certain people. Whether it is they themselves who are being villainized or celebrated, I have become increasingly aware that the rotation is squarely around them. No longer is this blog about camaraderie, it's not about Family, or even is it about Mayo and his Lovelies.
There is no inclusion. There is no friendliness. There is no love, and no "home".
My mother said to me once "If you're being picked on for something, pay attention to what is being said. If it's the same thing over and over again, maybe it's something you should think about changing."
People will not conform to your expectations. They will not conform to your will. They will not take up your ideals, your thoughts, or your mentality. They especially will not tolerate attitude from anyone who attempts to lord over them.
If you seem to be the problem, look at them, and ask yourself what you plan to do. If the answer is "Nothing", then do not be surprised when the circle around you gets wider, and wider.
For those of you that complain about the divide in the House of Mayo, here's some of your reasons why. If anything can bring it back to what it was, I feel that fixing these problems would be a start.
They are not minor.
They are not going to be easy.
I think they can be worth it.
Do you?
Anybody home?
Stop whining about it being "empty". The truth is that Amyranth's Fix was helpful to this blog. It might even be what saved it. We don't have to put up with random movie quotes, poetry and pictures of bees all the time. If that is "empty" then I'm glad it's empty.
WTF are you 12 years old, Twisted? I've heard better comebacks from a turkey sandwich.
i love to have turkey sandwiches the day after thanksgiving.
What are you? Oh yea, you are the ruler of the blog. Everytime someone says anything, you are there ready to jump in with something smart to say.
Thanks for the link, 4:55pm :)
It's all yours, 5:01pm!
The one rolled in nuts and sprinkles looks good!
Thank you Anon 2.34am for your gift. A present in return. Click also on the ' About Me ' section to get an understanding of Stephen's abilities.
Hello to all present. I may return later.
Hullo, GS! :)
Help yourself, 5:04pm!
Hello me darlin'. How are you?
Still a bit headachy, GS, but otherwise well, especially as I got off work early today - yay!
How are you?
All the better for it being a Friday. Sorry you're still feeling funky :( Is it tonight that you have got your friends over?
I'm doing my usual Friday night get-together with my universoty friend, GS. Her boyfriend is in Montreal right now so we're having a girls' night pizza party.
*university
Any plans for the weekend, GS?
Sounds good. I have not long finished watching the series finale of The Tudors. Anne Boleyn go bye bye.
hello RW & GS
Hi, EP! :D
How's things?
Any plans for the weekend, GS?
Chores tomorrow day time; quiz night up the church later on. £5 to enter with a fish and chip supper included. Should be a laugh.
Sunday: nipping over to see my nephew who will be 4. Stay for buffet tea.
So yeah, reasonably full. Yourself?
I'm good Rw just woke up/got up (there can be a lag there, lol)
GS sounds like a good weekend, I love church quiz nights and the like, always fun
Shalom
Namaste
Sounds like a full, enjoyable weekend, GS!
I have a hair appointment tomorrow early afternoon. There's Nuit Blanche tomorrow night, but i haven't decided yet if I'm going to that. Apart from that, just going to try to catch up on my sleep.
and happy birthday to your nephew !
Hi Ergo. I see you had a great time away. Those crocs are fricking scary. I'm so glad our native animals aren't so impressive.
The quiz is usually great fun, no-one takes it seriously.
And I shall pass on your blessings.
Anon - hello.
hi anon!
hey RW (and anon if you read this) I found that movie "Behind the Mask" at a big CD/DVD etc store yesterday for $15 so I bought it, haven't watched it yet but I hope to this weekend
Nuit Blanche - that sounds so impressive RW. I'd go.
Cool, EP! Let me know how it is, eh?
The one in 2006 was incredible, GS, but the one last year absolutely sucked :(
So I'm undecided what to do about this year's.
I certainly will RW
there was one copy in between heaps of other movies, I just had a look on the off chance.
that Nuit Blance sounds fascinating, they do it every year?
GS they are a bit nerve wracking, and the day we got back a guy has gone missing up north (different place but similar environment) after checking a crab pot, all they've found is his sandal and camera, and croc tracks.
that Nuit Blance sounds fascinating, they do it every year?
Yes, it's a yearly event. It started in Paris in, I believe, 2003, and has spread to other cities. Toronto's first was in 2006, and it was incredible! But last year's was too crowded and too commercial. Maybe they worked out the bugs for this year's, but I don't know.
Hey everyone
Hi, BC! :)
*squeeze*
How are you today?
that's a shame Rw, maybe last year was just bad planning, they didn't expect the numbers they got there.
Hope it's fixed this year
so do they have art installations all over the city, what sort of things do they have? static or interactive, or both?
(hahahaha I misspelled "static" and the spellchecks suggestion was "satanic")
But last year's was too crowded and too commercial.
Maybe they should send it underground; people knowing where the instillations are by word of mouth etc.
the day we got back a guy has gone missing up north (different place but similar environment) after checking a crab pot, all they've found is his sandal and camera, and croc tracks.
Eeek! Ya see, you don't get that with squirrels. They might lob an acorn at your head but they don't have any cravings for body parts.
* installations *
Sheesh.
that's a shame Rw, maybe last year was just bad planning, they didn't expect the numbers they got there.
it's estimated that the 2006 Nuit Blanche drew 425,000 people.
There were about 800,000 last year.
This year's is expected to draw a million people.
>_<
That's too crowded for me.
Hiya BC. Sorry about flunking out on you the other night.
hi BC!
lol GS yeah you rarely see film of a squirrel up a tree gnawing on a body part.
Did you see that bear that let itself into the Subway store?
at least our crocs don't come find you
Maybe they should send it underground; people knowing where the instillations are by word of mouth etc.
I'd go to it if that were the case. Now it seems it's mainly for tourists, not the locals anymore :/ Which is a shame, because the first one was brilliant.
Did you see that bear that let itself into the Subway store?
I heard about that! Helped itself to a few choice toppings, no doubt.
Did you see that bear that let itself into the Subway store?
Really?
'Cos I thought they'd have better taste than that.
*giggles*
*goes back to lurking*
the bear
though the newsreader said they shot the poor thing, that wasn't on our news. Why not relocate it?
we have a guy saying they should cull the crocs, they are trapping to find if one killed him (but they relocate or take them to farms)I sort of think if you're in their environment and home you are willingly taking a risk
Apparantly, it sniffed around the toppings, checked out the kitchen then, when it didn't get any service, it left.
Subway bear
Yeah, the news said the bear was euthanized. I don't know why, unless they thought it posed a danger to the town.
*tickles anon*
i want a subway sandwich.
*bites Ergoproxy*
(I've had my shots.)
well I've had subway twice and wasn't really impressed
But then if I'm getting takeaway I'm not doing it to be healthy!
Hi Ergo. Hi GS. That's okay, the other day was a shitfest.
Hi RW *squeeze* I'm doing okay, drinking some tea and reading the newspaper. How about you?
Hello? Have we got Prozac the Giggle Fairy in? ;)
Ergo and RW - why shoot it. that seems totally un-necessary. Re-location should have been adequate surely?
i want a subway sandwich.
Bear got to them first, I'm afraid.
Would you care for a candy apple?
*holds hand an dexamines teeth marks*
ooh a feisty little anon
*offers chocolate held in tongs with oven mitt over hand*
Ergo and RW - why shoot it.
For a minute there I thought you were talking about giggle anon.
I feel a bit icky still, BC, but otherwise fine :)
GS people panic I think, and it's easier and a lot cheaper, probably the real reason, a few cents for a bullet compared to a few thousand probably to relocate
Also, there's a chance the bear might come back.
I am not for shooting!
*replaces chocolate with rocks*
Ergo and RW - why shoot it.
For a minute there I thought you were talking about giggle anon.
well it did bite me.....
;)
*pokes anon gently with stick*
Are you dangerous?
And, more importantly, would you like a candy apple?
GS people panic I think, and it's easier and a lot cheaper, probably the real reason, a few cents for a bullet compared to a few thousand probably to relocate
That's sad. :(
It's strange because in this case the bear didn't attack anyone, at least not that they mentioned. They don't usually euthanize them unless they've done something like that.
I think maybe they panicked as there was another incident in British Columbia recently where a bear was walking around a suburb & randomly attacked a woman in her front garden.
*snaps stick in half and impersonates a drummer*
*accepts candied apple, washes off coating, smiles happily*
Lol RW's first comment at 6:15.
RW, I'm glad. I hope your headache gets better.
I know some of you here were worried about me last night, but I wanted to let you know that I'm feeling much better.
I'm thinking it'll take another day to fully recover, and then I should be okay.
And my sincere thank yous to sugarplum for the soup offering. That was really sweet :)
*accepts candied apple,
Uh huh. Give the giggling fairy more sugar. That's a good idea. ;)
oh looks like the anon is happy now RW
Mayo
Mayo
he's our man
if he can't do it
no one can
Do you not like the candy coating, anon?
*flails sticky hands, trying to remove leaf fragments*
*gives Gnothi Seauton the stem*
And I forgot to say: hi there anon
*shares sticks with Bleeding Chaos*
Do you not like the candy coating, anon?
Neither do I. Toffee apples are eurgh.
Mayo
Mayo
If Mayo's a man that means he can't give birth. So ...
*gives Gnothi Seauton the stem*
Um, er, thanks?
My friend is home from work, so I am going to head over.
Have a good night, everyone :)
Neither do I. Toffee apples are eurgh.
*waves*
Thank you for the silliness, Anon. You remind me of a child.
goodnight RW have a lovely time
*hands anon a damp facecloth to wipe hands*
*scrubs face and smiles*
Good night RW. Have a spiffing time.
So, giggle fairy, is the toffee apple stick for me to keep, because...
* squints and tilts head *
... I'm sure I could find some use for it.
Goodnight RW, have a great time. Thank you for the sticks giggle fairy :)
I'm off for a bit. Bye everyone.
see you BC
I am just attempting to dub a vcr onto a dvd - Monty Python's Meaning of Life
it appears to be working. If it does it'll be an excellent thing to be able to do, I have so many vcrs plus home movie ones
Bye BC. Have a good one.
Ergo - I didn't know you could do that. You're much more technically minded than me.
GS I bought a vcr/dvd combo that apparently does it, I just followed the quite vague instructions and pressed buttons and am hoping!
Well good luck, I hope it works.
I'm heading off, 'tis late.
Good night Ergo.
Giggle Fairy - I shall make you a quill with your stick and bring it in another day when I have carved it.
Bye other Anon.
Good night Mayo.
The Fix
There has been a lot of talk over at Mayo's about how to "fix things".
Well, I've got a few ideas, and I can guarantee that very few people are going to like them.
You want to fix things at Mayonaise's? Why not give the stage to someone else once in awhile? Constant self-centered posts, be they about what you're doing every exact second of every day, or posts as "Random Televison Character" really monopolize the conversation. Is that fair to anyone? Nope.
What's that? Scroll past it? You know, that would be a genius idea, if it didn't make up 75% of the blog replies. Ignore, ignore all you want, but it is still there. It's still used to derail current topics of conversation. It's used to force people to stop talking, and it's used for attention. It's beyond pathetic.
It used to be different, when everyone was involved. Now, nobody is involved and it feels to me like it's on purpose.
Next? Well, there's the rampant suggestion that "people suck" when they don't consistently stand up for everyone on the blog at any given time.
I'm sure I've said this before. You are damned if you do, and you are damned if you don't.
However, I'm going to hell in a 24k handbasket, because I refuse to stand for anyone who is comfortable to spend the day, night, mid-afternoon, whatever, belitting, undermining, harassing, or even outright insulting people who I consider to be friends.
Who gives anyone else the right to do those things? Nobody.
They are done, and done again. And over and over. I have seen the posts. The veiled comments behind my back. I've even seen the assumption that I am every nasty Anon that has ever visited Mayonaise's blog.
I haven't replied to this prior, but I will now.
I have a job. I do not have internet access at my job. I do not check this blog until I am at home and on my own time. I pull a regular paycheck every two weeks. I have a life.
Can you put 2 and 2 together?
The comments are duly noted. Especially the ones that call for the shutdown of Mayo's blog, when nothing has happened, except for a few friends having a good time. Oh yes, I've seen those too. Please, don't kid yourself. Going to read porn, and openly discussing sex and sexual behaviour are no different.
Oh, but here I am, in blatant disagreement with a lot of things. A lot of people. Oh well. I suppose I can't be blacklisted any more than I already am, can I?
I have also noticed something. This is quite troubling to me, mostly because I know that it doesn't bother me what Anonymous Vultures say, but it has, and clearly does bother others.
Why does it seem to me that if you disagree with the so-called "popular opinion", you can pretty much count down the seconds until there are Vultures nipping at your heels, and pointing fingers at you?
Are we ALL so always in the wrong? No. I frequently see many polite discussions with polite disagreements, and the day goes on. The world spins, the dove sings, and the moon rises and sets.
If you can't have a POLITE discussion about anything, without resorting to name-calling, derogatory talk, or even threats, you do not even have a right to open your mouth.
"Real adults - mature ones - realize that different people have different tastes. Really realize it, as in: they don't just say they do, they mean it and take it to heart. As opposed to trying to FORCE their tastes on anyone within earshot. Particularly when said "anyone" has expressed profound dislike of said thing-that-is-within-said-adult's-tastes. Real grownups don't feel the need to be a conversational dictator."
(Clearly exempt from this are Anons that come in with the claws and teeth at someone's throat for no decent reason.)
Here's something else to ponder. Why would you discuss things, or even provide information that you can be used to harass you and possibly make your life unhappy?
This is the internet, darlings. Regardless of who you are, you should never provide information, or allow access to information that anyone can use to identify you offline. Ever. Period. You put yourself and everyone around you at serious risk when you do that.
Why make yourself a target? Why make anyone else an unwilling target?
I have felt for a very long time now that there has been a movement to push people away from Mayo's. It is painful to read and even more painful to say. I do not form this theory lightly, and I wouldn't say it unless I truly felt that it was affecting everything that we all used to enjoy so much.
The blog has been centered more and more on certain people. Whether it is they themselves who are being villainized or celebrated, I have become increasingly aware that the rotation is squarely around them. No longer is this blog about camaraderie, it's not about Family, or even is it about Mayo and his Lovelies.
There is no inclusion. There is no friendliness. There is no love, and no "home".
My mother said to me once "If you're being picked on for something, pay attention to what is being said. If it's the same thing over and over again, maybe it's something you should think about changing."
People will not conform to your expectations. They will not conform to your will. They will not take up your ideals, your thoughts, or your mentality. They especially will not tolerate attitude from anyone who attempts to lord over them.
If you seem to be the problem, look at them, and ask yourself what you plan to do. If the answer is "Nothing", then do not be surprised when the circle around you gets wider, and wider.
For those of you that complain about the divide in the House of Mayo, here's some of your reasons why. If anything can bring it back to what it was, I feel that fixing these problems would be a start.
That's the problem in this blog. Someone puts forth a good idea about how to fix it..... and get's shot down. No one listens to her.
how exciting
hopefully the right path will become clearer when you get there.
Either way at least you have a job to go to, that's always handy
Amy is the only person on this blog who cares enough to offer suggestions on how to fix it. You should all read her suggestions and do what she says.
Certain people are not wanted here. You know who you are.
