Manifestation Monster

Wax and wane, spit out the profane
He found it fit to sit and complain.
And in the shit still, remain
Spirit coursing diligent, but in vain.

He is unraveling spools for the core.
He is unknown: “The Word Whore”
Has every opportunity for more,
But now at last he has become the boar.

p.s. not even (a lex icon) the sharpest ink will get you out of that paper bag.

Can Sarah Palin shoot?

Because if not then she's not really Vice President material, is she?

She would have to shoot her hunting partner in order to be a vp

resurrected wreck said...

Good point.

Not deer, just people.

Anonymous said...

Funny you should ask. Yeah, she's a hunter from everything I've read. I think they went so far as to say she hunts her own food, I think?

resurrected wreck said...

Does she?

Anonymous said...

I think so. I'll try to find the article.

Anonymous said...

Her husband is a fisherman, and she sued the federal government for putting the polar bear on the endangered list. She makes some good points on drilling for our own oil and says there is plenty land in alaska for drilling. She says polar bears are not endangered, the government just says that because they dont want to drill for our own oil.

Anonymous said...

Yes, she is in fact a hunter herself. O_o Wow.

Sorry I dist-appeared, I was looking at my friend's wonderful web page.

Going to go feed my doggies, back in a bit!

Anonymous said...

Okay, I might have misunderstood, RW. I'm not able to find it. The articles just state that she's an avid hunter, not that she hunts her own food. My mistake!

resurrected wreck said...

I'm going to assume that she eats what she hunts. Unless she just does it for "sport".

Gonna paint, back later...

Have a good day :)

(Fortune) -- Within hours of Senator John McCain picking Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, the talking heads of CNBC had coined a new term: "Palinomics." In a nutshell, the doctrine stands for expanding the search for domestic oil and gas as a solution to the energy crisis.

But while Palin might be a proponent of more drilling in Alaska, she's hardly a patsy of the oil industry. One theme at the Democratic convention was Republicans' cozy relationship with Big Oil. As Al Gore put it Thursday night, the industry has been "drilling [the GOP] for everything it's worth." But whatever you think of such a statement, it would be hard to say that about Sarah Palin.

Palin reached the Alaska statehouse in 2006 after trouncing incumbent governor Frank Murkowski, patriarch of one of Alaska's powerful political families, in the Republican primary. The former high-school basketball star, beauty queen, commercial fisherman, and mayor of Wasilla (population 8,471) ran on one big issue: Exploiting her state's billions of dollars worth of natural gas on Alaska's terms, not on the oil companies' terms.

For years, Alaskans have dreamed of the revenue bounty promised by the state's natural gas resources. But until recently, prices were too low to make shipping natural gas to the lower 48 states profitable. Murkowski had negotiated a deal with the Big Three oil companies of Alaska - BP (BP), ExxonMobil (XOM, Fortune 500), and ConocoPhillips (COP, Fortune 500), which hold long-term North Slope leases - to finance and build a pipeline to get the 235 trillion cubic feet of natural gas estimated to be buried under the North Slope to market. The deal guaranteed a tax cut for the oil companies, and promised that Alaska wouldn't change those rates for decades.

But when Murkowski brought the proposal to the Alaska statehouse, it was rejected as a sweetheart deal for the oil companies. Several of the governor's negotiators were later indicted, accused of making back-room deals with the industry. Voters subsequently booted Murkowski from office. You don't mess with revenues from oil and gas in Alaska, because it goes into Alaska's Permanent Fund, which sends a check to each resident every year.

Once in office, Palin took an aggressive stance toward the oil companies. Her nickname from high-school basketball, "Sarah Barracuda," was resurrected in the press. Early in her term, she shocked oil lobbyists when she was so bold as to not show up when Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson came to Juneau to meet with her. Palin, after scrapping Murkowski's deal, would not give Big Oil the terms they wanted, yet insisted that the companies still had an obligation under their lease to deliver gas to whatever pipeline Alaska built. She invited the oil companies to place open bids to build a pipeline, but they refused. A bid by TransCanada, North America's largest pipeline builder, was approved by the legislature in August.

Palin also raised taxes on oil companies after Murkowski's previous tax regime produced falling revenues in 2007, despite skyrocketing oil prices. Alaska now has some of the highest resource taxes in the world. Alaska's oil tax revenues are expected to be about $10 billion in 2008, twice those of previous year. BP says about half its oil revenues now go to taxes, when royalty payments to the state are included. Earlier this week, Palin approved gas tax relief for Alaskans, and paid every resident $1,200 to help ease their fuel-price burden.

To be sure, it would be an overstatement to brand Palin as an enemy of Big Oil. Her husband works as a production supervisor for BP. And her support for drilling in the Alaska Natural Wildlife Reserve, as well as exploiting Alaska's natural gas resources, certainly won't endear her to environmentalists. "Personally, I have respect for the industry," she said in an interview with Fortune last year, "for the contributions it's made to our state ... and great respect for what their CEOs are doing. We know their mission, to take as much as possible and leave as little behind."

But it does take a special person to go from small-town mayor and hockey mom to standing up to the world's biggest corporations. Despite a stint as chairman of the state's Oil and Gas Commission, she'd never done business on a remotely similar stage. When Fortune last year asked Palin if she was intimidated, she said simply, "No. Being reasonable commercial operations, I expected the Big Three will act responsibly."

In that same interview, she said she intended to change Alaska's relationship with "the lower 48." She saw part of her responsibility as delivering her state's natural gas to those hungry markets. "We're still too reliant on the federal government," she said. She canceled Alaska's support for the "Bridge to Nowhere," a proposed $320 million bridge to sparsely populated Gravina Island, that Senator Ted Stevens, now under indictment for public corruption, famously included in the federal budget.

Palin was also critical of Washington's attitude towards the pipeline project. She said last year she had written a letter to Vice President Dick Cheney asking for help with the pipeline, but didn't receive a response. President Bush did send an envoy to Alaska to help get the project going, but Palin still felt the approval process was unwieldy. "So many federal agencies and permitting processes," she told Fortune. "It's mind-boggling."

Despite her sparkling profile outside the state, Palin has had her critics in Alaska. She faced bitter opposition from the more conservative members of Alaska's legislature over the tax increases. And many in the bureaucracy feel that without the oil companies' cooperation, the pipeline will never get built, since oil companies still own the gas under their lease of the North Slope. And now that TransCanada has bid for the pipeline, Alaska is committed to covering up to $500 million of its costs regardless of whether the pipe gets built.

Palin's first dream in life was to be sportswriter, covering hockey and basketball. She loved ESPN so much, she named her daughter "Bristol," after the town in Connecticut where the cable network is headquartered. Whether that helps or hurts her chances to be second in line for the presidency, we'll see. But at least we know she loves a good power play.

Does anyone mind looking at a sketch that I did (a few months ago) and then painted in OpenCanvas?

Tony Stark.

I always said that RDJ looks better a bit worse for the wear; this point was totally overstated in the best possible way in Iron Man, don't you think? ;)

Anyway I think I overpainted him with too much light and shadow.

Funny story, as I was painting this I had his eyes really bright at first, and from across the room it really stood out. My retarded dog started growling and when I asked him what was wrong, he came up to the computer screen and started barking at my painting. I guess he thought it was looking at him too much. LOL@ my retarded dog! ^_^

Anonymous said...

Hi everyone! *waves*

Is anyone around?

Wow that is so cool. I've never heard of OpenCanvas. Lol at your dog. Was it the snooty one with the British accent? ;)

Anonymous said...

Eating a sandwich. How about you?

Anonymous said...

I just had toast and marmite :D

Some things never change!

Anonymous said...

I had a huge baked potato with cheese and beans for tea but I always get a bit peckish around this time of night.

Anonymous said...

That sounds really yummy. The other day I made rice and three different kinds of beans with spices. It was so damn good.

And tomorrow I will be eating FRYBREAD for lunch. YUM, YUM. Probably with corn and squash. OMG delish.

Anonymous said...

What is frybread? Is it like french toast? Is it sweet or savoury?

Anonymous said...

I just re-read my last comment. LOL at me giving you an interrogation about frybread!

Anonymous said...

*sits you in a dark room and shines big light in your face*

Tell me dammit! Tell me about the frybread!

Anonymous said...

Okay, okay, I'll talk!

Anonymous said...

Frybread is a Native American recipe that is sorta like funnel cake, sorta not. It's basically shortening-based dough deep fried in oil. It's a heart attack on a plate. You can put anything on it, but i like it with beans, squash, and corn.

Anonymous said...

Bahahaha!

*growls*

TELLLLLLL UUUUUUUS!

Hey, dudesses!

Um..what's funnel cake?

Hey Splash! *waves like a loony*

Ooh it looks like a naan bread you would eat with Indian curry.

Anonymous said...

Funnel cake!

Which oddly enough gets called "funeral cake" a lot around these parts. I have no idea why.

Anonymous said...

Oh mah goodness, funnel cakes are amaaaaazing.

They're just fried dough, and you top that shit with, like, a half pound of powdered sugar.

It's killer, but it's so good.

Anonymous said...

Now...about that funnel cake...

Anonymous said...

Lucy, it's super awesome to see you back around. :)

I have no idea why....

Oh ignore me! I iz slaw!

Ooh the funnel cake looks yummy.

I forgot my winky, Jules! It was supposed to be funny with all of my ellipses, but it kind of turned not funny. :/

It is yummy. Like Splash said, it's beautiful and deadly. Funnel cake is like a really hot ninja assassin.

Anonymous said...

I'm trying to think if us Brits have any gastronomical delights that you may not have heard of.

Yorkshire pudding?

Bwaha!

Splash, I... I just don't know what to say. I'm... I'm overwhe.........

Anonymous said...

Heard of it, Bean, but never tasted.

When I was in England years ago I ate many strange things. There was this bread on the side of my plate at breakfast in the shape of pants. (Trousers to you, I guess.)

Anonymous said...

Although it's called a pudding it's usually served as a savoury dish. You have it as part of a traditional Sunday lunch, it's usually served with roast beef, although you can also eat it with golden syrup. 0_o

Anonymous said...

LOL, you trickster. ;)

gastronomical delights

OMG, must use this! Refried beans are pretty gastronomical. Maybe not so delightful, but definitely gastronomical.

Anonymous said...

Oh, that will be trouser bread. You can have it plain, toasted or fried.

Not really. I have no idea what you are talking about! heeeeeeee

Anonymous said...

There was this bread on the side of my plate at breakfast in the shape of pants. (Trousers to you, I guess.)

Will someone please do the honors of taking this entirely too far by adding other breakfast delicacies?

'Cause that's what I thought you were alluding to.

Anonymous said...

This is where I'm going to be tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

Bwaha! I swear, I've never seen the like. We were sitting at the table and I was like, "Should I eat those pants or what?"

Just the other day my cousin sent me a message (she was with me in London) and she was like, "Do you remember the pants-bread?"

Anonymous said...

Sometimes you get giant yorkshire puddings and they are kind of used as the vessel that hold the rest of the meal. You would put sausages and mashed potato and veggies inside the pudding and pour gravy over it.

Anonymous said...

That might possibly be the best conversation starter ever.

"Soooo, how about that pants-bread?"

Okay, so maybe not the best conversation starter. It's kind of funny though. Kind of.

Anonymous said...

Do you also have giant blancmanges playing tennis?

Anonymous said...

Have a fab time and be sure to eat an extra portion of frybread for me.

I am seriously racking my brains trying to think what the trouser bread could be.

Anonymous said...

^That link up there? That's not all there is to it. Also Mystic River will be playing, and Litefoot will be there at his tent (and I will buy some of his stuff!) and Frybread, Mystic River, Litefoot, that beautiful spectacle up there, OMG, I love it!

Anonymous said...

Bean I wish I had a picture. It was a flat, crispy piece of bread next to my sausages (I wasn't a vegetarian at the time,) and it was just shaped like a pair of trousers. A waist, two legs, a crotch. I didn't even know where to begin. It was an adventure in eating.

Lucy what I recommend is that you find a store whose sizing and style suits you, and ask if they have an in house "styling" service.

These people are prepared to work with what's already in your closet and suggest additional pieces. They do charge per hour, but sometimes they are worth it. You know what mixes and matches and what suits you.

That's not a bad idea Anon. Personal Shoppers are getting quite popular over here now and it would just take away some of the stress and hassle of shopping.

It's the trudging around all day that gets to me, and the never ending getting dressed/undressed in changing rooms. I usually wear jeans and trainers so I'm comfortable while I'm walking around the city but when I try on a really smart dress it's hard to imagine the finished effect when I look in the mirror and see my multicoloured stripey socks!

I did have some very lovely people (whom I chatted with in line)help load the sandbags in my car. And, my very lovely neighbors unloaded them from my car. I have to go get more tomorrow, though :/
POOP!

My sister, her husband, my niece, nephew and their doggies are hitting the road at 3:00 a.m - heading toward Arkansas/Tennessee. They have threatened to kidnap me and force me to go with them! I still have too much to do around here. I only got half of the junk in the yard picked up today. I shall get to the rest tomorrow! And, I still haven't started searching for all those important papers....

I is now off to make a fresh pitcher of home-made hurricanes! I shall be happy to give ya'll some when I return (after finding those abovementioned papers.

Thanks again, to everyone who sent birthday wishes!!!! Ya'll made my day much brighter! Thank you! *blows kisses*

Hi Ergo, silence :)

Nobody said...

Okay, well, I hope I don't depress anyone here and I hope you guys don't mind if I talk about it but my mom has had this really bad alcohol problem ever since I was a little kid. I need to confront her tomorrow because she has to stop for medical reasons but she won't. She'll stop for a day or two and then go back to drinking. She is very mean and hurtful person when she is drunk. It really scarred me to the point where I can't even think about it because I'll start shaking. So my sister and brother are threatening that if I don't confront her and let her know how she makes me feel they'll do it. So tomorrow I just I have to grow some balls and stand up to her. I've done it in the past but this time it's been so long since I've confronted her. I just want to grow up and move to New York and not deal with this but I can't leave her in this condition. What do you guys think I should do?

resurrected wreck said...

This may sound harsh, Silence, but you are not responsible for your mother's well-being. She needs to learn to take care of herself. You can't put your own life on hold for her.

Sounds like she needs to get professional help. Do you think she will listen to reason, or does she think nothing's wrong with her?

resurrected wreck said...

RW somthing isn't balancing and it's annoying, but I think i have it sorted

I hate when that happens :/

Nobody said...

ergoproxy, I am going to try to just do it on my own because there are so many personal things I want to address with her especially about things growing up with. I made a whole list of things.

BC, I am going to try to talk her into AA meetings. If she wants I'll go with her, she really is a nice person who can do it if she tried. My brother did do a good thing, he is trying to talk her into seeing a therapist but at the same time he is saying crazy things like, "We are all going to go to the therapist and show her we are not afraid of her! I want to be there! " (I think if anyone should move out it's him, I hate to say it.) Honestly, I think she is too embarassed to admit she has to go to AA.

Nobody said...

resurrected wreck, i know i can't control it, I spent years trying to master that and if I learned anything it's hard being reasonable with an addict. Even if I can't fix her problem I just want her to know before I go on with my life how I felt about everything, it would just make me feel better getting it off my chest. I honestly don't know what she'll do. This is the first time I am going to let her know how it affected me instead of bottling it up inside.

resurrected wreck said...

I wish you the best of luck, Silence. You've got a lot of courage to let her know how her addiction has affected you over the years.

By the way, BC, I hope your job interview goes well :)

It is really embarrassing to admit you have a problem like that.
Try not to hit your mum with too much stuff at once though, she may get stressed or defensive adn then you have lost that line of communication. Be sympathetic but firm and make sure you approach with the solution you are suggesting. People appreciate help but try to make sure it doesn't feel like accusations to her, make it feel like concern and an offer of help, as I'm sure it is.

i always have a residual feeling after times like that too, although i think of it as being bruised.

what sort of thing are you wanting, generally?

Amyranth said...

You know, I can't tell. I feel like I want food, but I'm full. I feel like I need a hug, or a kiss but I really don't wanna be touched because of my head.

It's kind of disconcerting.

toujours said...

well, you know that as a graduate of hug fu, i am now required to give you internet hugs. all the embrace with none of the touching! :D

*HUGGGGG*

*plus back pats*

Carrie said...

Being forced to watch college football. Dance, monkey blog, dance, and entertain me, and also, Wendy, GTFO. There are a few safe havens near, (and not so near) ya know. And also, Teej, my kid claims that manga was called Dragon Rider.

Amyranth said...

*grins* Aw, thanks Teej!

Hiya BC, how have you been?

Carrie, last night Mister was so desperate to watch a football game, he was watching high school football on a local channel.

toujours said...

Smoke said...

I got just one thing to say to you, Mayo & SS:

YOU GOTTA GO SEE TROPIC THUNDER. ^_^

Please, for me. OMG, it was hilarious.

SS,

You would laugh out loud for sure. Hope you're okay, dude. See you around, maybe? Hopefully?

Goodnight smokie. Hi carrie. I'm good Amy, thanks. Just doing some thinking

*hugs TJ*

Carrie said...

Night Smoke, I'm thinking I'm gonna go see that next week. And seriously, I don't get the football excitement. Miss T calls it gay rugby, which never fails to give me a chuckle.

Amyranth said...

I think everyone is doing some thinking. Blame it on the weather change. I'm starting to get all hibernatory and whatnot.

Amyranth said...

I don't mind watching a little football form time to time, but I haven't a clue as to what is going on.

Now hockey, that's a game I can understand.

Carrie said...

Teej, I think my kid is on the crack, that is not it.

Carrie said...

And it is bugging the living hell out of me, because it was one of those things where she was all, READTHIS, and I was all ohhhhkay. But then I liked it.

toujours said...

*hugs bc back* :)

carrie, i was just beginning to wonder, because i wasn't finding it. :/

Anonymous said...

I blame it on the warm weather we're having Amy, but my thinking revolves around a man in my life. He's making me think a lot about my feelings.

.

Carrie said...

Can't believe how much it is bugging me. I mean, dang! Magical books, parents from another land, disappeariing shops, you would think you could google that crap.

Amyranth said...

Oooooooo feelings!

Man, I wish I had a bottle of wine right now, then we could get down'n'dirty about it~

Is it good feelings? Not so good feelings? Confused? Achy? Gassy?

Carrie said...

My feelings are always butthurt and gassy and old lady lately.

Original Punk J said...

Hello Amy, BC, TJ, Carrie. how are you ladies tonight?

Anonymous said...

Yes, feelings!! It's both good, not so good, and confused feelings all together at once Amykins.

I like this dude. Some days when I think about him I get happy, but at the same time I feel wary whenever I see him and at the same time I don't feel anything. Gah.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Hello,

this is a fly by.

Carie I found a Dragon Rider OAV (ORIGANL ANIMATED VIDEO) list. I know there is a video game with the same name. I will see what else i can find for you

Carrie said...

Hey J, and Amy, and BC, because I never say hey to peeples. I am stinky that way.

Carrie said...

Thanks MJ for looking into it, I think I'm on the wrong track though.

Anonymous said...

Hi J, how are you? *hugs*

As for how I'm feeling, read previous comment.

Mayo,

Dude, so, yeah, I'm sleepy and stuff. How did your Saturday go?

I've read this post at least 26 times. Why 26? Why the fuck not?

This is between you and him and I will leave it at that. It's funny, I don't see anger in this post the way some do. It just is what it is or it isn't, right?

Right.

Love to YOU Always,
S

p.s. ....

Amyranth said...

*grins at Carrie*

Hiya J!

BC, sounds like normal stuff to me. It might work itself into an actual crush, or it might just be "Hey, he's hot. Except that his hair is a little greasy..." kind of feeling.

I'd just roll with it if I were you.

Anonymous said...

Goodnight Solly. Amy, thanks. I'm confused, but whatever happens, happens I guess.

Carrie said...

Heya Amy, see, at this point, we are watching this game off the DVR, so I know his boys lose, but I'm not trying to give it away.

toujours said...

hello, j. :)

how are you doing tonight?

carrie, i'm gonna c&p and google what you said. you never know!

Carrie said...

Teej, I swear, it's driving me nutso crazay. I hate when I can't figure something out.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Forget about the OAV it is a porn one. I did find a entry for a dragon rider manga.

The only stuff they had listed was this Associated Names
ドラゴンライダー
Doragon Raidaa

there was also an image but if I look up dragon raidaa all I find is Kamen Raidaa. I will keep looking

Original Punk J said...

I'm pretty good tonight, not complaining. BC, are you talking about Killer here? Tell us what's going on.

Carrie, are you talking about a movie, or book, or what? I misserd the earlier conversation.

Amy, how're you doing after your towel-throwing-in?

TJ, whatcha readin' today?

resurrected wreck said...

Hi :)

Original Punk J said...

Hi Martha! Sorry I missed you! How've you been?

Thanks for earlier, BTW. *hugs*

Carrie said...

J, It's a graphic novel (okay, I still call them comic books) that
Al made me read not so long ago because she thought I would dig it. And she was right, but now, cannot think of the exact name or the author and it's driving me nutz.

Carrie said...

RW, you covered in paint?

resurrected wreck said...

I was, Carrie, but I just had a shower and washed it all off.

The priming is done - huzzah! I shall start painting the walls a nice light green tomorrow.

toujours said...

well, my google fu is weak tonight, it seems. ah well.

Carrie said...

I'm tellin' ya, that shit is like smoke, I have been looking for it all week.

Original Punk J said...

Carrie, maybe you should ask her if she remembers the name/author, etc. ??? (I still call them comic books, too! Think it might be an "age" thing, :P.)

Hi RW, how're you?

Carrie said...

We're gonna try to find Big Brother online, we missed the last eppy.

toujours said...

j., today i'm reading the second book in a trilogy, forest mage by robin hobb. the first book was called shaman's crossing.

i had never had a chance toread her before, and i'm enjoying this series very much. it follows a young man destined to be a soldier (a tradition which is part of his culture), and what happens to him when he gets entangled with the magic of the "primitive" forest dwellers.

she's a great world-builder, this author.

Carrie said...

No really, we are.

resurrected wreck said...

Hi, J :)

I'm quite well, thank you. Got a lot of painting done today, though not much else!

How are you?
