Yesterday I saw my reflection and waited for an answer. I stood there like an idiot, swaying and staring. It took a while, but what I found was strength and self-respect. The bags packed themselves and walked right out the door. My hand held tightly to all that really mattered, my own heart. All of my abandon had left the poor thing in a sad state, atrophied. But if I am patient and use it a little more each day it will regain its once youthful bounce. It will be fit for giving...forgiving. Forgiving.

Paint fumes are as a result of not dried yet primer on the bathroom sink. The remodeling is not yet completed.
Well, apparently it's a 2 megapixel phone, which makes it only a small bit under my camera, so I'm pretty happy with it. The recordings did not come out at all, which is why none of them got uploaded.

I think I drove her nuts! We were talking on MSN, and she admitted that she hadn't gotten contracts from everyone that she had paid for the wedding. Like the reception hall, the wedding site and a couple of other things. I had a little red flashing light go on in my head, so I called her and we started talking about piddly little details. I know what she's like, and she'll change her mind a million times before the wedding. So I want her to be certain she knows what she wants at least 6 months before the wedding, not six days.

I've got to say, I planned my weddding during my senior year of college, and for the most part, it was pretty low stress, even though my husband wasn't even in the same state for the three months before. Wait, maybe that helped!
amy the more organised the better, I avoided faffy little frilly shit, like bonbonieres etc and just kept it simple, still ends up a rush at the end though, invites rsvp and table placings are just annoying, even if everyone gets on!

Ergo, you schooled me yet again, I had never heard of bonbonieres. Where I come from, only the richest of the rich have the big sit down dinner reception things. Most just have a reception with snacky things at the church, and then maybe something at the bride or groom's house. Up here in MI though, the sit down reception seems to be the norm, along with the chicken dance, sad to say. :)
Ergo, I agree. She's usually a very organized person, but when I whipped out one of my wedding magazines, and started asking her about centerpieces, and table settings, and food, and cake, you could almost HEAR her jaw dropping.
I'll probably be planning my wedding as I'm helping with hers, just to be on the safe side.

the norm here is wedding then reception, but it's not really extravagant, most places charge around $30 a head for a nice meal or smorgasbord
there are places charging a lot more, and in the city it can get ridiculous,
my sis in law had all sorts of table tat, almonds. coasters, menus, place cards , little thank you saying things, and nearly all of them got left behind, noone wants to keep that stuff really
Maybe that should be your next career option amy, a wedding planner.

a dirty trick, eh? when my mom and stepdad got married, two of my siblings filled her car to the roof with shredded paper...and then arranged to have them stopped at the border (they went to canada for their honeymoon).
Ergo, so have I. And I think that's what worries me. Bridezillas can be extremely crazy, and I don't wanna get in the way of that kind of emotion.

The problem with "Bridezilla's" is that behave like that is the most important day of their lives.
Nice thought, but I think all the experiences you share before and after, are more important.

anon I think they focus on the wedding instead of the marriage, it's a nice day as you said but it's the years after that are important. It's all to outdo people and show off, noone really remembers weddings in that much detail, it's over in a few hours and the money they spend is ridiculous! And so many average couples end up in debt for a day, and if it doesn't go perfectly it haunts them and they fight and bitch with family and friends, all for a few hours, it's built up so much it's really silly.

Ergo, not to my knowledge. Like I said, I really don't know where the expense is coming from. So far, she's paid $3600 for the photog, and $300 for the Reception Area. I don't know what's she's paid for the wedding site yet.
I told her she's nuts though, if she offers to pay for my dress, the bridesmaids dresses, or any of the Groomsmen's outfits. I think that should be part of the responsibility of being in the wedding party.

My parents gave us some for the food but they flew up so they had other expenses, I didnt ask them to. We paid for everything else.
But my dress cost $600 I think, most other brides pay at least double if not over $2000

i've been thinking about what you said when you came sneaking into the blog with your shoes in your hand this morning. *grin*
i can't speak specifically to your experience, of course, but not everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room. in every crowd you will find one or two, or even a few, who are carefully and consciously not acknowledging the creature.
they know the minute they do, there will be an uproar: an elephant?! how did that get in the house? call 911, call the zoo, mabel get your trank gun! the elephant will be carried away and carted off.
those few are carefully not saying anything because they quite like the elephant, and don't particularly want him to leave, and would even slip him his favorite canapés if he would just point out which ones those are.

and now, to bed, and i don't have to get up early in the morning because my job is over already. no hurricane means no temp help needed, but that's okay, because it also means not as many people suffered damage to their homes. that's a good reason for not having a job, i figure.

I can have a 2 hour conversation with someone about a stick! I have actually done that. You see, the stick leads to leaves which were once on said stick. That leads to trees. Trees lead to paper and/or how to keep mother earth green and pretty. Paper leads to writing or drawing. Keeping mother earth green leads to Save The Wetlands! Well, you get the 'drift'. (Drift would, of course, lead to wood. ;P
Which would bring us back to trees). SEE!!! It so easy to get involved in "small talk".
