Up To The Ground.

Those hills breathe fire
And exhale into the stream
Billows of crackled frames
Mixed with the amassed sordid matter
Of a thousand million leaves
Pelf, from pandered promise
Settles into the hollows
Filling the rift with futile night
They will brush ash from their soles
For an eternity after having been told
Better to swallow holes than believe
What was struck, no longer stands

p.s. and so it went.

oh man. a new jeff smith book, called "bone and beyond" is out. it says it's an overview of his work and his influences. so cool.

the thing with "bone" is that on the surface it looks like a very simple comic, but the story is very rich, and the artwork is too.

i'll have to see if a local library has it yet. :)

and zot! in tpb! that wasn't one that i bought, only read it at my library, and they never kept current with it. now maybe i'll have a chance to catch up. neat.

(yes, i was reading my tfaw newsletter *grin*)

Morning!

Hi and Bye, Mayo, SS and BlogBelieve. Have a great Friday!

You're mostly saying that the reason TBP didn't win anything is because music industry is not based on merits and quality.

Well, it is based on merits and quality, but it's not so much the fans that get to define the quality. And that kind of pisses me off, but whatever. I still find myself watching the Grammys every year anyway.

JU is not a dealer. He is an amazingly clever man with a sense of humor that goes over your head.

Yes, his humor is so awesome, I think I nearly split a rib. Sorry, if that dude is the dude who writes the lyrics for MSI, which I just assume that he is, his lyrics are most definitely not funny. I'm pretty fucking glad I "don't get" his humor.

Anon #1 said...
Face it, MSI is more original and cutting edge than MCR will ever be.

Anon #2 replied...
Yeah, so original and cutting edge that it took 10 years and a picture of their bassist marrying Gerard to get famous.

Thank you. MSI are nothing and would have been nothing had it not been for MCR. There's no way around it.

Jimmy is just a a wanna be Johnny rotten.

Oh, man! I could not think of the person that he reminded me of, you know, sort of. But, I mean, the Sex Pistols will win out every time.

I missed you, Anima!!! Good to see you. How's your dad?

I think I have figured out this fancy, new slide show feature thing, TJ! Now, I must decide what photos to use and put a slide show together.

This could take a few days! Okay, now I'm really off. Things (other than slide shows) to take care of this morning.

Good news wishes are being sent your way, TJ!

toujours said...

oh, cool, wendy -- good luck on the slide show! and thanks for the good wishes. :)

hey there mustard, did you see i found the etymology of horseradish last night?

*fingers crossed*

on my morning rambles, i was nostalgically looking at the lyrics to some of my favorite animes, and i thought i would leave you all with this one, from "fruits basket". *grin*

Serenade

Dear my first treasure, I have loved you so much.
I miss you when my heart is strong and weak.

I become joyful just to see you smile.
Everything is saved by it.

During the gloomy days, I was watching from here.
But now, I am looking up the sky.

When in despair, I wished to say something to your depressing back
I wish to hug your wet shoulders from the rain

You do not need to be seeking for me all the time.
You knew it anyday.

It is not the extraordinary strength that opens the lock of the heart
but it is the straightforward mind.

I become joyful just to see you smile.
Everything is saved by it.

During the gloomy days, I was watching from here.
But now, I am looking up the sky.

I will do our best today and have invincible strength
in behalf of the one I love

toodles, blogbelieve, see you tonight, and hopefully, with good news.

*fingers super crossed*

bye mayo. have a good day. :)

The beauty of it all

I need a prayer in the midst of watching self destruction

Your no better, no better

Your twisted ways are not adored as you first thought

You have been sold and bought so many times we lost count

A thing of beauty to behold is not skin on the surface

It comes from within

Deep within a heart so pure

Not one you hide, too obscure

Do you hear that sound?

Slipping crown

Crashing down around your feet

Sinking fast like quicksand

A nightmare you can call your own

I don't need to share it

Misconstrued as beauty you can keep

No worries, no one will be there to weep

If it only came from inside somewhere deep

May have withstood the old test of time

You have comitted the ultimate crime

Breaking hearts and getting paid is what they say

More haze in this passing phase

Blown away with one word, why not two words, make it three, why not a whole phrase?

What the hell give them a whole song!

The beauty is gone

Never to return to it's former glory days

What you've done cannot be unbound

They no longer hear a sound

For Lovelies, For Family, For All, this song is yours. Have a wonderful day.

Don't You Forget About Me--Simple Minds

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby

Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on

Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Will you recognise me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ohhhh.....

Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security

Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away

Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on - call my name
Will you all my name?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KASS!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY GNOTHI!

HAPPY VERY BELATED BIRTHDAY RAY TORO!

Ok, now I think I'm caught up on birthday wishes. Sorry for the late ones, Gnothi, my mind's been some other places this week. *hugs* Hope you had a great day!

And *hugs* to you too, Kass, may your day be both fun and exciting!

TJ: I know you're not here right now, but rest assured I'm thinking many good, positive thoughts at you. *hugs* Please be sure to let us know as soon as you can. GOOD LUCK!

Hope to see you, TJ, and the others tonight. Wendy, when you coming back? I miss you! And hey Triston, break a leg tonight, enjoy yourself, ok?

Hi Anima, hi Elune! *hugs* for both of you ladies.

Hey Mayo, I see your Castle was invaded again last night. I hope you have homeowner's insurance, man, that's all I'm gonna say. Today, since it's sunshiny (at least here), why don't you call Best Friend and see how he's doing? He might like--and need--to talk with you. You know, spread a little sunshine yourself. Yes? Ok, good.

SS, YOU...I shall talk to later. Not because I'm angry, but b/c my hips and knees are killing me, and I can't sit in the fucking computer chair too much longer! (Damned arthritis, it should be quiet today, it's sunny!)

Later, all you BlogBelievers. Take it easy--it's only life, after all. ;)

Great. More controversy. Just what Gerard needs. Of course he will get creamed and the readers of RS (i.e. fans of classic rock) will have a field day trashing him.

I'm almost inclined to think he's done something to piss off the media and they're passively agressively trying to destroy him.

Anyways I have a few linkies for you guys today. Some of this I've already written on my blog, but I know most times people don't visit other blogs so I'll post them here too.

So, I was angry a few nights ago, angry to the point of almost hysteria over the things the Bush Administration were getting away with. A few days have gone by and I'm still angry. Ridiculously, I'm angry at the people who are okay with this stuff, too. I'm sorry, but if you really think that the Bush Administration lying about 9/11, throwing tantrums when questioned about it and little by little removing the rights of women to have health care, then I am angry at you.

And I'm angry at the media for winking at all of this, too.

At my blog there are videos I want to share, and here are some links:

To hold the media accountable or just to see some eye-opening footage, please go to Outfoxed.org, a web page dedicated to exposing Fox News.

Please, most importantly, take a look at The Young Turks on youtube. Please go here if you visit no other site. This is there page on the web. Does Cenk Uygur know he and I are married? This is his blog on The Huffington Post.

PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE check out a few of those sites and do what you can. They are fantastic. :)

Oh, this is only if you are political and progressive I guess. If not, ignore it; you won't be interested. ^_^

Anonymous said...

Holy Christ, obviously I meant "their" instead of "there," WTF.

Also, hello Fim. Solly, I hope you're doing okay today, and TJ, whenever you come back, I hope and trust it will be with good news. ^_^

Happy belated birthday to GS and to Kass!

And like that... she's gone.

FASC, yes, the link was worth it. Oh, man, that takes me back. One of Elvis' best songs ever. My second favorite is "Jack of All Parades." It's from the King of America album. Actually that WHOLE album is great.

TJ, hoping for good news, and hope you are ok. Let us know, alright?

Elena, Love to you. Don't forget that. You are a wonderful person with tons to say.

WENDY! Sent you an e-mail with get well wishes and hope to catch you on here.

Triston...I think you have been out bon-bonned...:)

Ergo, I'm afraid Monty and Phil have become addicted to Baked Cheetos and potato chips. They are asking for some of your homemade bread though! We have some honey that Elena sent us, so they said they would share if you shipped them some yummy bread!

Lewis, love to you as well. Hang in there.

BC, thank you for the kind words. Still standing!

All those who have asked about me and sent good wishes, THANK YOU! I appreciate it more than you will ever know.

SS, take care of yourself and have a great day. You're a good, kind and very special man. Don't forget that either. Strength comes from inside, the stronger heart will always triumph over the stronger voice.

Mayo, SA, GDU, track 3. Yes, you can.

There are so many I didn't address that I want to. Just know that I am thinking of you, even if I am not here, I am here in spirit.

Love. Hope. Faith.

Clothes on the line……

Don’t you just love the smell of your linens after they have hung on the line outdoors? Though the towels might be a bit rough, the smell can’t be beat. It is just one of the many joys of living in the country instead of the city.

We don’t have fresh seafood or numerous different ethnic foods to partake in, but we have something else; quiet, clear, star filled skies. Why would I want to live anywhere else?

So the expense is great in maintaining your own vehicle, but the freedom of walking outside in your pj’s knowing no one will see you, is liberating too.

The freshest foods are only available in season, such as strawberries a couple weeks ago, blueberries now, and soon enough tomatoes. Nothing better than opening peapods and eating the peas fresh out of the pod, so crisp and sweet.

The wages are low, the gas is high, and the culture is limited, but all and all it is a wonderful simple life to lead.

Just jump in bed and bury yourself in the smell of your fresh sun dried linens.

not bad, i am happy its friday but i have to be in work tomorrow so i am not to happy about that lol. I was going to go watch the new batman movie tonight but i have opted out of it. I saw the sex and the city movie the other week. Have you seen any movies?

Andrea said...

Aw, I'm sorry you have to work tomorrow.

I saw Hellboy II last weekend. It was better than I expected. I'll probably see the new Batman movie this weekend. I would also like to see Wanted.

Fimble Star said...

oh, i want to see wanted as well. i have seen the previews where AJ drives the car and turns it, and then JM just kinda falls into the seat. looks really good. I was contemplating Hancock, maybe another time for that. Some of Will Smiths movies are good and then he can do a really crappy one.

Andrea said...

Yeah, I read some mixed reviews of Hancock, so I'm not terribly excited about it. That might be one for the beer theater where tickets are cheap.

Fimble Star said...

fantastic gs, very nice to see you :) i have just seen your comment and will reply, i am slow around my own so i apologise for the lateness :(

How are your hols flaring up? any plans?

Andrea said...

The beer theater is awesome!

They show second run movies, so usually they've already come and gone from the "main" theater. Tickets are only $3. They have a bar and really good food there. You place your order before the movie starts, and they serve it to you during the show. You can even have them deliver dinner during the first half and dessert during the second half. Inside the theater, every other row of seats has been removed and replaced with tables so you have a place to eat. It's all ages during the day, children are allowed with parents during the early evening, and it's 21 and older at night.

gnothi seauton said...

Nothing much planned thanks Fim, just the trip to the NW I said about.

Soooo glad it's the school hols. I refuse to get up before 10 tomorrow, I just want to sleep.

What's new with you?

wow Andrea, that sounds liek fun. is it just around your area or are they all across the usa?

gs, absolutly nothing. parents are in uk now, they are over for a month which is great for me :) other than that, i have just been working but i want to hit the beach to try and gain my tan back. i lost it over in england :(

Hi Ergo. That sounds a great day. It's always nice to see how everyone turns out.

We had our leavers assembly today; had to say goodbye to our babies. They always sing ' Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye ' ( the old war song ) and it gets a bit emotional. All the Mums cry. Once upon a time the used to sing ' We'll Meet Again ' as well but we banned it, far too heart wrenching!

Fim - well you're young and you have the world at your feet, see where the wind takes you :)

gnothi seauton said...

Bye Ergo, have fun later :)

Fimble Star said...

omg gs, i think i would be cryng as well. i hate those leaving assembleys, and at the end when they come up to you and say your name and give you a big hug, i am like omg they are growing up soooo fast hahahaha. good times.

oi, i can smell a crumpet, nah must be a strumpet.

Fimble Star said...

bye ergo, thanks for the alf lol, have a nice walk and see you later, if i dont see you before your reunion, have a top time ok :)

gnothi seauton said...

Ooo, strumpet hunting. Can you smell one in the ether?

The assemblies are also time to say goodbye to staff etc so it is doubly emotional. The children in our class kept coming for hugs all day and saying they didn't want to go up a year. And we were like " We're only up the corridor, you can pop in and say hello ". Bless 'em.

And lots of pressies. 22 to be precise.

Fimble Star said...

wow, you hit the jackpot hahaha anything good? its funny how some parents get you bottles and you see these 4 year olds carrying big bottles of alcohol into school, i laugh everytime haha. it will be funny cos when you are just down the corrider from them next year, some will be over excited to see you and then you get the odd few that will be shy and be like they dont know you from adam and when you try to talk to them, they go all coy and try to run away ha ha, or is that just to me? oh well lol

Fimble Star said...

Mayo,

Good to see you around today. I hope everything's okay. You seem distant, moreso than usual. I just hope thinks are good in your world.

SS,

Dude, just wanted to let you know that your words you've shared with us have graced my thoughts, like, a billion and one fucking times the past few days. Thank you very much for them.

Kass and GS,

My sincerest apologies for not wishing you two a very Happy Birthdays. I hope they were absolutely amazing. :)

Jen,

You're missed by me, too. Thanks for popping by.

SisterM Night Shamallama,

I'ma have to affix you to Mayo's porch so you can't leave us again for a super long time.

MissT,

I hope you're enjoying some peace and serenity and finding what it is you're looking for.

Smoke and Sdock and LHM,

I hope you guys had a fun time singing and shopping today! I hope you all three bought RW sumfin'. :)

PJ!!!,

HEY!

I'm so tired of having bad days. They're stupid.

How's everyone? Fim?

Fimble Star said...

How the heck are you, i have missed you like so much :)

solly and smok are at the pictures tonight, they are watching batman. they should be back in an hour or so.

What are your plans for weekend?

Anonymous said...

Gahhhh! I want to see that movie so hard, and it's purely out of motivation for wanting to see Heath Ledger's last full film, and on top of that, I think it will be an excellent movie. :)

Fimble Star said...

i want to see it too, i heard that he didnt even finish filming that film, am i right? I heard that other top actors were going to help finish it for him.

Anonymous said...

Oh man, I do believe he finished filming the Batman movie, but I think it was the one he had lined up after that he was unable to finish. I can't remember the name of the title right now, but they had Johnny Depp and two others come in to, you know, pay tribute to Heath and to finish the movie.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Anonymous said...

Oh, and here's some reviews on The Umbrella Academy for those who may be interested.

I don't know if they're any good or not, as I didn't read them.

Fimble Star said...

yay slash, i knew i had read it before. What are you doing? i am just listening to some avenged sevenfold. not heard much from them.

Anonymous said...

Just catching up on some music news. Not much other than that.

I've only heard a few songs from Avenged Sevenfold, one of which was that "Bat Country" song they played the shit out of a while back.

Fimble Star said...

i was listening to their 'afterlife' song but i have moved onto disturbed 'inside the fire' now. you suggest any new bands or music?

Anonymous said...

Dude, I'm in a music rut.

I superduper highly suggest Jason Mraz.

Lemme think.

Damn, I have no idea. Is it just me that can't find good shit to listen to? Probably is.

Or maybe it's just down-time. That could be it, too.

Anonymous said...

No, wait.

I maybe have something to say about that.

There's nothing out there lately that I've found to be original.

That's the problem for me. It's the same stale stuff that's was new and fresh in 2004 or 2005, but it worked then, so why the hell not now, eh?

I might be in a pissy mood. :)

Anonymous said...

*that was

Fimble Star said...

i recently found reggie and the full effects, its cos i have to get into them for the 20th. but i really like them :)

i think i am gonna go and see if i can find anything else, sorry to leave you slash, have a nice night ok, see you around.

night everyone, sweet dreams :)

Anonymous said...

Goodnight, Fimble Effing Star!

Sleep well, and talk to you later!

Anonymous said...

i can't believe i spent my money on MCR so LynZ can sit in a 1.4 million dollar house and stare at the rock on her finger. my spending days are over.

Anonymous said...

I never really listened to the Used, but I loved the song nice anon posted last night. :)

Is the rest of their stuff that good?

Anonymous said...

I hear you, 9:47; I stopped giving that pair of misogynists my money back in December. 1.4 mill, do you know that for sure? And diamonds, well, you know how I feel about diamonds, and the fact that most of them are slave-mined. Neither of them strikes me as the type who would buy a diamond carefully, with that in mind.

Anyways, hey Fim and Splash. Sorry I've not been around much. Has anyone heard from TJ yet? She's been on my mind all day.

That and my self-centered, self-involved thoughts and all the political stuff. That stuff has been on my mind lots.

I think that since I lost my job I'm really struggling to find my place, and anywhere I find where people are fighting for a cause, speaking up, and actually doing something, really gets me tingly in my political places. It's exciting for me to have some time to discover these things. I've always been political, and I've always had lots to say, but now that there are all these roads in front of me I feel like I need to choose all of them. I don't know.

I went ahead and joined theyoungturks.com and I actually emailed the folks at the show and the blog. I thanked them for existing, briefly told them how I lost my job, and asked if they had any openings for freelance writers.

Long shot. Super long shot. I know it is. But you never know?

Like I said the other night, this here ain't no beautiful heroin gonna bring down the evil infrastructure. This here is just a mouthy, frustrated thirty something who doesn't fit in much anywhere else. I've spent the last few years just bitching about the system and lending my voice, giving money and doing things that are easy for a privileged person to do.

But now I want to really do something, and people like this inspire me. When I go to the web page and it says "rebel headquarters," I know how ridiculous this is, but I feel like I just went into the basement of the Seventh Heaven to have a meeting with Avalanche, or am going to meet Princess Leia or something. It appeals to the geek in me, the one that has always been in love with the underdog rebel, with the Salvatore Giulianos and Luke Skywalkers. It appeals to the part of me that thinks that, maybe, in some weird, sick, twisted way, living in a post-apocalyptic mad world would be sort of fun; anything to be free of this reign.

But more, it appeals to my logic and the things I believe in outside of fantasy. I believe in the things that need to be done and I want to be a part of doing them, instead of just screaming about them needing to be done.

*Sigh*

I'm not even sure what I'm trying to say. Does anyone get me?

Maybe it's something like this:

a dissident is here
escape is never, the safest path
a dissident,
a dissident is here
and to this day,
she's glided on
always home but so far away
like a word misplaced
nothing said, what a waste
when she had contact
with the conflict
there was meaning....

Hi, RW! I should add, since you're here, "and recently, Che Guevara too." ^_^

Hi MJ! Wha?

10:04, The Used is a fantastic band. Their songs are both ridiculously catchy and some are very meaningful. They are a really tight band and Bert has a great voice with an awesome range.

Hey, Jules and RW! :)

I'm sorry I'm of no help in your current situation. All of my thoughts are kissing each other's asses, and I'm so turned around in my own head.

Just when I think I get one pile taken care of, it seems like it grows ten times higher. I feel like I'm just moving shit around.

I wasn't planning on coming on today I was just going to catch up. But my cat decided that my laptop key board made a great walk way.

so sometime between me pushing the cat off the laptop and him jump right back on a comment got posted and I am to lazy to go through the trouble of deleting it.

Anonymous said...

And "Hospital." Don't forget that one.

Anonymous said...

Thank you, rw. :)

Do you guys remember me posting a pic of the grade school my mom went to in Saskatchewan? It was still standing even though it's been abandoned for years. Just got an email from my mother - some kids burnt it down this week. My pic may very well be the last pic that was ever taken of it.

Shame it went, though it's been more a hazard than anything else for a while now.

Anonymous said...

YAY FOR CHE! ^_^

Good to read you, Splash.

Anon, Go here and watch On My Own live. It's one of the best live performances I've ever seen.

Damn. I'm speechless.

Heath Ledger owned that damn movie. OWNED IT!

And my God. Christian Bale is not human. He's too damn perfect. :)

Okay, back in a few! I'm at Solly's house and now I gotta drive home.

Hey Princess! Sounds awesome! I'll wait till after the weekend rush to see it. ^_^

Our Spencers' store in the mall was closing and moving to a new location or something, so Smoke and I got MCR t-shirts for $2.49. Uh huh, I know. That was a good deal! I also got me the cutest little Skull & Crossbones purse!

From Hot Topic, We both got cutesy little baby blue Used tees and I got nice convo from the guy who was working the counter. Really weird, while we were looking around the store, he had a big stack of TUA trades that he was about to put out and we were kinda in his way. So then we I was checking out, he asked me about my t-shirt and what did the Umbrella on it mean. I told him it was for TUA and he was like oh really, that's cool. And then I pointed to the books and he was like, I didn't even know what these were and we talked about that for a bit and he asked if I was a Gerard Way fan and an MCR fan. That proceeded into comics which led into Batman and told me how awesome the movie was that he had went to see it at midnight this morning. He was just a really cool guy. I guess it was nice to see that I could still talk to dudes even with the shit I'm going through.

Okay, here's something else really weird.....While in Spencers, we heard "Prison"....While we were eating in Applebee's, we heard "The Black Parade"! How freakin weird...combine that with the guy and his TUA books in Hot Topic and it was like MCR was following us around on our trip today.

Then, we sung, yes, I said SUNG, MCR songs all the way back! LHM also told me and SMoke that we do a pretty kickass version of "Umbrella ella ella"! Coming from an 8 year old, I thought that was pretty meffin awesome! He was like "Wow, ya'll sound just like it, sing it again!" Which of course then we turned all shy and couldn't.

sdock10 said...

Fave Used songs since we are sharing Bert McCookies love tonight:

Buried Myself Alive
Wake The Dead
Box Full of Sharp Objects
I Caught Fire
Earthquake
Paralyzed

But, Buried Myself Alive is my all time favorite...Hands down!

we are having a lawn bowls and BBQ afternoon from 4pm

Scarily the year I began teaching would have their 20 yr reunion next year!

Anonymous said...

Enough with the politics please K..... this is not the place for it. People come to enjoy themselves.

sdock10 said...

Ergo,

You bringin up the 20 year thing, just made me remember something else. You know how everything that we liked is now "vintage". Well the guy that I talked to at Hot Topic had on a Motley Crue "Shout at The Devil" shirt. Not sure if it was the real deal or one of those "vintage" look reprints, but I certainly didn't want to tell him that I went to see that band 21 years ago.....OMG, am I that old? Seriously?

Martha Smith-Jones said...

For real Kapu. People come in here to unwind and try to connect with each other and with Mayo and SS. They want to have a good time and relax. I would rather come here to listen to how the new Batman Movie is and chat a bit about MCR. Maybe the political blog you're talking about would be a better place for your rantings.
