Investment.

Upon arrival, there isn’t nearly enough air to fill my lungs, so in desperation, I scream. Pulling in all that I can because suddenly I feel empty. The comfortable heavy warmth in my chest has been displaced by vacuum. I have no control over where I am. My arms and legs, unbound, find freedom a challenge. And, although I feel hands pulling and fingers pressing, I have no idea why. It is cold. So, I reach for warmth and I find it in purity. I know where I came from; I did not want to leave and with grief comes depth and in the deep I find surrender. It was warm and I swam in it before I knew you. I would go back, but that was before I saw your eyes, before I was pulled into this world and onto your lap a sloppy mess. I need you and without you I am sure I would not thrive.

p.s. i can only imagine.

Anon @7:09, I really hope you get to meet Frank then. He just wanders around by himself without any security and he would be more than happy to stop and say hi to you.

"At this point in time I cannot people that he wouldn't know that fans would go crazy when they saw him."

They usually don't; look it up on Youtube. "Meeting Gerard Way," etc. Fans that act like that when the band is offstage are definitely the minority; they're BECOMING more common, that's all.

Anonymous said...

May 12, 2008 7:12 PM, that'd be great, but I'd like to thank the whole band, particularly Gerard (watch the shoes get thrown at my head now!). I could tell him to say thanks for me, though. ;P

Because, even if everybody's right in their accusations...he really did indirectly help me. *shrugs*

This is how I feel about it. If you are famous expect people to be waiting for you. And if you don't want to deal with them you can have your security and /or the security at the place you are at get rid of them.

Or take the back door.

Night Safe

I just have to say I still get the feeling that Gerard is sometimes overwhelmed by the attention he gets.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you RW, those girls were too young to read the situation properly. Anyone can see that it really wasn't a good idea to keep hounding him. Just because he is on the public eye does not mean he is public property.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Any band that is liked by teenages should expect that. The Beatles had to deal with it so it is nothing new.

But, MJ, he doesn't want to avoid the good fans.

He's in a horrible situation, really.

But Martha it's one thing to expect people to be waiting for you and quite another to expect young girls to chase after you.

Fans are fans and age doesn't make a difference. I have seen older woman act like that.

What it comes down to is that those girls didn't think they would every met him again.

Anonymous said...

"But Martha it's one thing to expect people to be waiting for you and quite another to expect young girls to chase after you."

Right.

Remember, Gerard is still pretty self-conscious, thinks he's uncool, and apparently thinks he's ugly. I doubt he's used to this attention. Sure, maybe he should've been by now, but I get the feeling he isn't.

Possibly immature of him, but understand it's Gerard we're talking about. Gerard who locked himself in his mother's basement and barely had any friends and has some serious self-esteem problems.

Anonymous said...

Curious to Know, how do you know that? Have you spent a considerable amount of time with Gerard, or are you going by what you can see?

Martha Smith-Jones said...

So Elena are you going to tell me they have never seen the footage of the Beatles getting chased. Hell what about Duran duran, NKOTB or Nynsc. They have all had that problem but with more people.

resurrected wreck said...

but I'd like to thank the whole band, particularly Gerard (watch the shoes get thrown at my head now!).

I wanted the very same thing, and got the opportunity to do that last summer during PR. I handed him a letter I had written for him, as I had a lot to say & knew that there wouldn't be enough time for me to say it all face-to-face.

I still mean every word I wrote, and my criticisms of Gerard lately are mainly due to the shock I feel over what I see as him settling. He's fought so hard for so long & I'd hate to see him give up on himself now.

Of course, that's just my observations. I don't know the guy, so I could be reading it totally wrong. Still, his recent associations with a band like MSI do make one wonder if his stance on equality, respect and basic human rights might be taking a back seat these days to fear (of living alone) and regret (of previous actions and "failed" relationships).

Anonymous said...

Gerard is completely different with the fans now. especially this past year.

he would always take pictures with the fans. now it's always no pics just autographs. he will barely put his arm around a fan when he's taken a pic with them.

he just seems a lot colder to the fans once the show is over.

Anonymous said...

May 12, 2008 7:24 PM Anon, maybe he's depressed and maybe he's getting scared of his fans. I'd be a bit scared, too, if I got chased like that. He was nicer when he wasn't as well-known.

resurrected wreck said...

The Beatles had to deal with it so it is nothing new.

The big mistake the Beatles made was in running away from their pursuing fans. They can't chase you if you don't run. Frank's got the right idea, deal with the situation head-on to the best of your ability. People respect that.

Anonymous said...

I think the problem lies in people's expectations. Like the way people expect the band to come out after a show. You've paid to see a show, they aren't obliged to do meet and greets afterwards. However, so many fans have come to expect this as the norm and get really pissed off of the band don't come out. People think it's ok to behave the way those fans did at the airport when, in my opinion, it isn't. Famous or not, the band are 'off duty' and if the fans respected that then there would be no need for them to jump through hoops and make alternative arrangements etc. The band really do want to be treated like regular guys. It's the fans with no respect for boundaries that will result in the band feeling as if they have no alternative but to duck out of back doors etc. and avoid all fans completely. I applaud them for remaining as grounded and accessible as they have for as long as they have. time.

I don't envy those guys at all. Not that part of it.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Anon I don't think it is because he is scared of the fans. A lot of people are nicer when they first start out. But than they become famous and they aren't as nice.

There is actually a list on the internet somewhere that list people who are nice to their fans and the ones who aren't.

elena said...

Fans are fans no matter what age is true. Still being rude to someone is wrong no matter what age. I understand the young girls were excited but if they don't realize now how to treat people they aren't gonna ever learn that lesson.

No one should be hounded. Being respectful of people is important.

You have to look at the reasons why. He's extremely stressed, and has proven time and time again to lack the ability to deal well with that amount of stress.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, Anonymous, but I do applaud Verita Venom for voicing her opinion just as we all are.

My comments since the beginning have been about the band and the music, and I make it a point to not get involved in discussions on the band member's personal decisions, because it is none of my business. If you expect me to defend my comment, I will.

Regarding Verita Venom's opinion on the airport comment, I've never expressed my own opinion on the blogs until today. And if you failed to see my comment on the previous page, I admit that I've been on either side of the fence regarding this situation. I don't deny that.

The comment about the "giant bags of cocaine" does worry me, I agree with Verita Venom on that.

The remainder of her post is about the two bands, Jimmy Urine, and I know my stance on each of them.

Regarding the title, hell yeah, it wins. It was a stab at Gerard, and I do think we could have been fooled into this "message." That's what I've interpreted the line "Three cheers, you fooled them all" to mean. I don't know what Bert McCracken was thinking when he wrote that line, but I can venture to guess it was something to do with Gerard, and I took it to mean the "message."

I hope that clears it up for you. :)

There is no need to be catty Anon. People here have different opinions sometimes and it is good that we can debate and hear other people's points of view in a civilised manner. We don't always agree with each other, but we sure as hell try our best to respect each other. That's how we roll.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous, I don't know Verita Venom's motives. She has her blog just like a lot of the rest of us, and she's entitled to her opinion just like we are.

I don't know if she's concerned for Gerard or if she couldn't care less. That's her decision to make and hers alone.

Me on the other hand, I will continue to worry for Gerard and each member of that band. I am worried for his well-being, and I probably always will be.

Hey, rock stars are rock stars. They've been degrading women and talking down to us for years. Gerard used to seem different though. he admits himself that he just wants it to be an ordinary rock show now, and well, it is.

I think our beautiful planet is trying to tell us something.

I think it's trying to save itself. The human race is becoming more and more parasitical.

Ummm, yeah, I'm dramatic right?

*ahem*

I'm 21. Remember SS's story? It was totally like about my 21st birthday.

Like totally.

Fo'real.

sorry think I got something stuck in my throat then! ;)

isn't the situation in China awful, but at least aid can get in there, i just cannot believe the Burmese regime isn't allowing help into the country!

resurrected wreck said...

But it's okay, S&V, 'cause that's, like, totally young for trees.

ergoproxy said...

yep smoke just let your leaves toss in the breeze, scratch your bark and have a nice quiet stand out in a field

resurrected wreck said...

Are they still not letting aid get into Burma?? The death toll is going to spike because of infections & lack of food and drinking water if something isn't done soon.

All I can think is that the Burmese government wants its people to die. Why else would they be doing that to them?

resurrected wreck said...

I haven't donated anything yet to aid Burma because I don't want it to just sit at the border and rot :/

resurrected wreck said...

I always donate something in situations like these, even if I'm strapped for cash and can only donate a little. But I haven't this time because, at the moment anyway, it seems futile.

ergoproxy said...

RW that is the problem , the govt is even confiscating aid that does get in! There is a trickle getting to areas to help but I heard this morning the problem is there is no international law or policy about being able to get aid into a country.
The people of burma are in a horrendous situation and it feels like all the world can do is sit and watch. Their govt holds all the cards. I cannot understand why they are allowing their citizens to suffer and die

Amyranth said...

Hallo Ergo and MJ, thank you!

I think you're probably right RW.

There will probably continue to be a bunch of crazy storms that will keep killing people off.

The worst part is, I think it's all bound to happen in some of the poorest parts of the world, where they can't easily reach aid.

Hey, RW, if at some point they allow things to go in, where do we go to donate? Is there some sort of website or something?

resurrected wreck said...

The worst part is, I think it's all bound to happen in some of the poorest parts of the world, where they can't easily reach aid.

And that's really sad, because the parts of the world where the disaters happen the most are not the parts of the world that are the most parasitical. They're the parts of the world that have been traditionally exploited by the wealthier nations. That is so wrong on so many levels.

resurrected wreck said...

They are, however, some of the most densely populated parts of the world.

anima said...

Hiya everyone!

Happy Birthday Amyranth!!!

I have a comment about the recent conversations...lemme see if I can gather my thoughts. Hope you guys don't mind...I don't want to prolong a conversation when unnecessary.

resurrected wreck said...

I usually donate through the Canadian Red Cross, Mustard. I imagine the American Red Cross would be accepting donations too.

resurrected wreck said...

Hi, Anima! :D

Martha Smith-Jones said...

They don't want to look weak in the eyes of their people. If they can't help them than the people might over throw them. Anyway when all the people die they can blame the rest of the world for not giving aid. And because the people won't know any better they will get away with it.

Anonymous said...

Awesome, thanks, RW. I didn't know if there was a specific agency accepting donations specifically for them or not. I'll definitely look into it. Thank you. :)

ergoproxy said...

RW according to our news just now a US plane has gone in and there are 2 heading from Europe and a ship nearing the waters so the regime has allowed aid in finally, no word on a website but I'm sure Red Cross and the other usual agencies would have info

Smoke said...

*sticks tongue out at RW and Ergo*

It really is terrible that they won't let aid in. I can't even imagine what those people are going through.

resurrected wreck said...

Interesting point, MJ. I wonder of the people trapped & injured in Burma even know if aid is desperately trying to get through? Or do they think that the world has abandoned them?

ergoproxy said...

ok US cargo plane with water treatment and supplies, 3 planes from Europe with medical aid and a French ship with 15000 tonnes of rice (I think it was 15000, or 1500 something, lots anyway)

Amyranth said...

Hallo Anima, thank you!

MJ is right. When this is all said and done, the government will just convince the country that the rest of the world didn't want to help, or something stupid like that.

-A

ergoproxy said...

Hi anima!

resurrected wreck said...

There are probably other agencies that are accepting donations, Mustard. But the Red Cross usually gives you the option of either picking which charity you want to donate the money too (ie. the Burmese relief fund) or just donating it generally & they can distribute it where they think it is most needed.

Anonymous said...

Well, it's good they're managing to get some food, water, supplies, and medical treatment in. Although it won't be enough right now, I suppose some is better than none at all.

resurrected wreck said...

So does that mean that aid is getting through now, EP?

resurrected wreck said...

Imagine all the people who could have been spared the continued suffering if aid had been allowed to get in immediately, and how many more lives could have been saved?

There's nothing more inhuman than a government that is more concerned with sustaining itself than in helping its own people.

Amyranth said...

15000 tonnes of rice (I think it was 15000, or 1500 something, lots anyway)

Ooh, there's another angle. The world's rice supplies are running out, and rice is getting harder to find on store shelves.

That's definitely going to be hard on a lot of the countries that exclusively eat rice.

Smoke said...

Going to watch House now.

You know, that's what old people do. ^_~

I'll be back in a bit! If you're gone before I get back, I hope you've had a great birthday, Amy!

There's nothing more inhuman than a government that is more concerned with sustaining itself than in helping its own people.

I completely agree. It's really scary.

resurrected wreck said...

You can go here to donate to Burmese aid through the American Red Cross, Mustard.

resurrected wreck said...

Haha, S&V!

By the way, are you all squeaky clean? I didn't get to join you in the shower :( Solly distracted me.

resurrected wreck said...

That's definitely going to be hard on a lot of the countries that exclusively eat rice.

I heard the same thing about lentils, as Burma was a leading producer.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

How do you run out of rice?

Are they having problems growing it or something. I heard about this already but they never said why

ergoproxy said...

RW it does seem that there has been an agreement reached, I believe with the assistance of the Thai govt.So it looks like aid is getting through, shame it will now be under pressure with the China earthquake, but the chinese govt, by comparison has sent everyone they can to help and rescue.
Burma's problem is it's a military regime, not an elected one, it is really only interested in keeping power.

It's Me

Toujours

On the road again, just can’t wait to get on the road again…..sorry flashback to another time in life.

I see you standing in a meadow…throwing your blinders off…twirling around, arms out to embrace life and breaking into song…

The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years.
The hills fill my heart with the sound of music
My heart wants to sing every song it hears.
My heart wants to beat like the wings
Of the birds that rise from the lake to the trees,
My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies from a church on a breeze,
To laugh like a brook when it trips and falls
Over stones on its way
To sing through the night like a lark who is learning to pray.
I go to the hills when my heart is lonely,
I know I will hear what I've heard before.
My heart will be blessed with the sound of music
And I'll sing once more.

Hey, I am entitled to regress a bit:)

It is never too late…two steps forward and one step back, just look down the path and all around you. Think for now, tomorrow and the future.

Safe travels Toujours.

Here's where I am coming from right at this moment.

The bottomline, all of us care about this band in one way or another. I feel that the opinions are important and necessary. I believe the guys pick up on this stuff and appreciate it (good and bad).

Each person has their own way in which to express their feelings...

I don't know why I care so much about these guys. It kinda freaks me out. It's bizarre to care about people who you don't know and who will never know you. In a weird sort of way, I look at these guys the same as I look at my friends, my family. They have given me so much, I would consider them friends, possibly even brothers. I fought for my oldest brother until the day he died. Never gave up. I only wish he could have realized his life was worth living. That was were all of fell short...but only because we were fighting a battle that could not be won. His was a living hell.

Do I like everything my brothers, my friends have done in their life? No way, (I'm sure they have few critisms of my own life) but at the end of the day I always know they are someone special, someone who has something to offer. I know it with all my heart. I have given up on a couple of my friends, but that doesn't mean I will continue to hammer the issue which severed our tie. Our friendship is just over, but I will always give them a hug when I see them...and hope that with the months and years that have passed that things have changed in someway.

What I am trying to say is that, well I will keep on fighting for their worth as a band and as individuals. I don't want any of them to die because of habits that may be hard to break, or because for whatever reason they do not feel a need to live.

Damn, now I'm rambling. Totally off what I really wanted to say...I guess it's close enough.

Amyranth said...

Thanks Smoke!

Hmm.. Maybe I should start watching House too...

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Hello anima and Tj.

Anima i think you said what all of us feel but in different ways.

anima said...

Martha, thank you. Or different feelings is what makes the blog so special. Each of us comes from a different background, a different set of circumstances, and a different view on the band (prior and/or currently). For whatever reason or another, I believe we all care about them. Whether some of that care has dimished or changed, it's okay.

anima said...

*our* different...

as this one said
and those you can just laugh at, you know?

or think that "thinking people" would all agree with you and your opinions

ergoproxy said...

hi romance, what goodbye post? there never has been one, why would there be?

anima said...

Anon, thanks.

I welcome all thoughts...you never know, I could change my mind. I'm always open to that possibility. Man, if I stayed in one state of mind growing up...I would have been screwed. But you can only convince another so far...some will never change and will stand strong. It can be an awesome thing many times, other times it could be detrimental.

It all depends.

It sounds like you are not one to shut a door on someone. Shutting doors is a very hard thing to do. Family and friends fall into two different places...some straddle and we are not sure where they belong.

Amy, take the win!

sdock10 said...

Mayo,

How are ya tonight? Did you have a positively fantabuliriffic Monday? Yeah? Well, I didn't. Not that the day was like rank with shittiness or anything. It was just one of those days where I worked my ass off and got nothing done. Just moved shit around on my desk from this pile to that pile and well, some piles got neglected completely. I always thought I worked well under pressure. Maybe tomorrow which is bound to be deeper than today will be better. Maybe I will really start to show my super skills. Yeah....

So can you tell that I am kind of manic? Just a little? Yeah, I get like this when I don't know what else to do. My mind just goes too fast for my fingers to keep up and since it all has to come out I figure I might as well write about it to you. It mind end up being a little funny. Like that anon said, not in the crack a joke kind of funny but in that pathetic sort of funny. Either way, I win!! I got a smile out of you!

Mayo, I came in here today and I joined a conversation talking about a guy that I don't know. Nope, never met him. I do my best not to judge people but heaven knows we are all guilty of that at some point in our lives, hell in our daily routines. Oh my point being though, that I found it easier to jump in and talk, talk, talk about someone that I don't know than to slow down, stop, breathe, take a look in the mirror and focus on myself. It's always crystal clear when it's someone else. Not so much when it comes to me. Not that it wouldn't be crystal clear, it's just that I refuse to take the time and look at myself. Even now, I shake my head "NO!" when I am thinking about it. Do not want. I would rather sit back and listen to what others have to say about me. I often wonder if this guy we were talking about does the same thing. Does he take to heart all the things that get said about him? You know even when people say bad things about me, it's okay. That gives me more ammunition, right? Yeah. Like well, they think I am pathetic and fucked up so that gives me some kind of cause or reason to be.

And some days, Mayo, all you need is a poor ass excuse to do something stupid. I'm living proof of that one.

Mayo, I'm wishing you a night filled with introspection, reflection, and clarity, but more than that, I am wishing you the time it takes to actually stop and look.

Love to YOU Always,
S

p.s. Don't make me.
