Hollow point.

I will repeat it again and again.
For thirty-two, then thirty-three
time stopped. But, when does it end?
With empty rooms and unfilled beds,
and desperation; the last moments
and too many words left unsaid.

I am copying each name with bold black ink onto plain white card, filling the empty space with the only tangible evidence I have. One at a time I place a card face down before me while I consider each as if it were my own. Then, on the back of each card I write my name.
I can, but they cannot.

So, I will.

For you I hve stored up an ocean of thought,
Quiet, transparent, bright.
Your arms encircle the city of sleep
Of my far off, beautiful dreams.

A lamp shines faintly through a crescent window.
It is your name, changed to gold and silver silk,
That has wrapped and entangled me
With half a century.

An ocean of thoughts
All stored in that quiet city moat--
The most beautiful language,
Sounds like beautiful flower petals,
That fall and clothe my body with a dream.

Teej and Elena, you actually expected to see his face? Wow.

I saw them here, and it was like My Chemical Romance, Featuring Cousin It on Guitar.

he other comment was "he has really big lips!"

Kapunua, you do not need to prove a point.

Not everyone appreciates this.

On that note, Mayo, good night. Thank you for this gentle and sad reminder of something that I'd forgotten due to other reasons for mourning.

It's the fact that things like this happen that keep me awake. You know what I mean, Mayo? Well either way, I hope you can manage to have nice dreams tonight. Something mellow, like a red candle through a crystal glass at the end of a dinner party. Yeah, you know what it looks like! ^_^

S(S)S, I gotta tell you. When you say "pants" you have to say it in a huge bombastic voice, and add a little pompousity to it. Throw in a slightly British accent. Just walk around sometime going, "PANTS!" in that voice. It's very freeing. Thank you for the laughs today my friend, and for the brownies. I TIP MY HAT TO YOU MY GOOD SIR.

BlogBelieve, good night, catch you on the flip side when I will be really spazzy on my Crackberry, time permitting.

Have a great Thursday!

Oh, I remembered one more thing I wanted to say.

Today I got The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon. I started reading it even as I was opening the package with the rest of the books I'd ordered, and I've already found so much in there that I'm in love with.

I think some of you might like it, Mayo, maybe you'll dig some of it, too.

I'll post up some translations tomorrow night or maybe Friday night. ^_^

Anonymous said...

yay! poetry! :)

oh and this is lovely -- it shines a little, like the light of the moon when it visits me through my bedroom window.

thank you, ms. hsiung hung.

Anonymous said...

Well, at least we know where all the poetry originates from, Kapunua.

Anonymous said...

I am really not sure why someone would feel comfortable slamming poetry on a poet's blog.

This makes no sense to me.

Anonymous said...

i need some mayonaise.

Entropy said...

Teej, I totally know what you mean about being right in front of Ray. It's way whoa. But I saw his face! Nice face.

Anonymous said...

I don't think that it's the slamming of all poetry, I think it's just the overindulgence. Even Mayo is spare with words. Some should take a lesson from that.

ergoproxy said...

oh Kapunua I can just picture people walking around sayine "pants" like that, very monty pythonesque!

Yes, I always give credit.

Okay, going to bed now! ANd to read a bit before I go to sleep. Sadly, I've been looking forward to this reading all day and I'm kinda excited. O_o Good night!

I don't think Mayo would appreciate any discredit to his form of self expression.

Whether the poetry is brief or rambling, sparse or overindulgent I think the blog owner would be offended.

Longing
Matthew Arnold

Come to me in my dreams, and then
By day I shall be well again.
For then the night will more than pay
The hopeless longing of the day.

Come, as thou cam'st a thousand times,
A messenger from radiant climes,
And smile on thy new world, and be
As kind to others as to me.

Or, as thou never cam'st in sooth,
Come now, and let me dream it truth.
And part my hair, and kiss my brow,
And say My love! why sufferest thou?

Come to me in my dreams, and then
By day I shall be well again.
For then the night will more than pay
The hopeless longing of the day.

Oh man, L, you totally stole my comment, I was gonna say that was the long lost Serendipity book.

ergoproxy said...

ok just on a totally different topic, I have just seen the "View" and they said a school over in the US have banned the game 'tag' as it's violent and kids could get hurt and they were saying kids punch instead of tagging etc and Barbra said that if a kid is playing and falls they could get concussion...etc etc and I just thought how sad it is that kids are getting all the fun things that make it childhood taken away. The issue isn't tag, it's that there are kids with no outlet or ability to cope with anger or other issues, and just that they have all this anger etc.
Then they'll develop programs because kids will get too fat or unfit.
Plus I always feel sorry for kids at those schools with no grass and high walls, aussie schools aren't like that at all.
*sigh*

Good Evening Mayonaise;

In all honesty, this post is so confusing, and so worrisome. I know I know, I said before that you're a grown man and there really shouldn't be anything to worry about. But sometimes, I just have to wonder if you're telling the whole truth..

Have you ever had one of those days where you wanted nothing more than to feel accepted? Where you just wanted to feel apart of something? I don't know why, but I'm feeling that way right now. It's not a pleasant feeling. Maybe it's just these female hormones that I currently have. That's it. I'm an emotional wreck. (you can blame my period. I hate that)

I'm off to bed, or maybe I'll read my book. Whatever I do, I will be wishing that everything really is alright with you Mayonaise. Don't fool yourself. If you need to scream, scream. There's been times where all I needed was to get something off my chest, but I can't do that.

That was another random babble for you. Yay, I love those.

SS, I've not said much to you lately. I doubt you will even read this, but yes, I worry about you too. You actually have soo much to fucking offer, and sometimes I feel like I have nothing to give in return. Just, keep the faith.

All my love;
- 007

Anonymous said...

vindication!!!
thank you carrie.

elena is the one who has been making this such a big fucking deal.

i was just originally indulging in a little whimsical randomness.

she has made her mission to humiliate me and this goddamn candy bar is her chosen weapon.

oh gods, oh mayo, help me.

(she's going to post now. IGNORE HER LIES.)

elena said...

First off...Victory is Mine I got TJ to swear!!!!!! She wrote fucking!!! I'm so proud of myself!

Secondly this whole candy bar fiasco started with her and yes it was out of the clear blue sky that she made it her mission in life to make sure Mayo tried this candy bar...

(yes you did TJ so shut up)

Anyway, (she's still cursing) she brought it up again...

Thirdly Carrie said it needs nuts. (insert own joke here)

Well, it seems Anon has left the castle, Elena.

Since it's so quiet here tonight, I'll ask a bunch of (standard) concert questions. Just pretend I'm 'concert anon' ;)

1. How long did the opening band play?

2. How long did the second band play?

3. What song did MCR open with?

4. What song did MCR end with (pre encore - if there was and encore that is)?

5. Regarding the encore (if there was one); How many songs did they play when returning to the stage?

6. What (encore) songs did they play?

*is really hoping there was an encore with all these encore questions*

7. What was each member of the band wearing? (No detail is too trivial)

8. Are you tired of my questions yet?

9. Did I 'say' ENCORE enough?

10. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you (and TJ) rate the show?

;)

I didn't think that at all. I really enjoyed the one I saw in Colorado. It was great especially at the end when they brought their crew out as a "Thank You". The whole set was vibrant.

I can't believe you would even consider not going if you get the chance.

Anonymous said...

Ergo and Wendy, there's nothing that can beat the live music experience (not even a really bad sunburn). In my 20 years of going I've seen probably 200 shows. I've gone to everything from country concerts with my mom to Poison and even Metallica. Just last night I saw Bret Michaels :) Tomorrow I get to go to the Bouncing Souls :)

BC, I hope you decide to go, I promise it'll be worth it. For me, it renewed my love for MCR.

Anonymous said...

Elena, believe me, my PR show was not that good. You could literally feel the tension in the air with the band, and there was not that much contact. It was pretty bad.

Wendy, yeah it is, but there's no way I'll get there early due to traffic but that's why my friend is going to get there early and wait in line.

How funny that both of us are talking about the same show, yet have such different perspectives on it. For me the Colorado PR show was the worst performance I have seen of them live so far. Wendy,
Something that makes you feel... well, so ALIVE and so free!

Exactly!!

Bret was amazing as always :) He sang quite few Poison songs, a few of his solo songs and he did a cover of "Sweet Home Alabama," and "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." He dedicated "Something to Believe In," to the troops. He played at a country western bar, so the stage was small and we got pretty close to him which was really cool. He even stayed and hung out for a while aftward.

Funny thing was this week, I was expecting the pit for MCR to be the worst and Bret's to pretty tame - boy was I wrong. It was the exact opposite, LOL.

wendy re Saosin, I saw Circa Survive with MCR and they were great, it was at least a bit of Saosin!
He has a great voice!

you're welcome J I'm glad you liked it.

wendy it's that raw sound and the vibration of teh bass and the feeling of the crowd...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That might be it, Ergo!
Of course, some bands DO turn that bass up a LITTLE TOO HIGH
*coughkillerscough*
I usually don't like when the bass makes my teeth rattle! ;)
J,
BOUNCING SOULS??!!! Oh Anon, take me with you! I love the Bouncing Souls. Where's the concert, like what state and city? Man, that's gonna be wicked cool! *has small attack of jealous fits*
How soon can you get to Denver, Colorado? I'd take all of you with if I could :) (Which would be awesome since all of my real life friends hate the music I listen to...)
QUIZ TIME!
1. How long did the opening band play?
i'm pretty sure the todd (the lead singer) said they played 45 minutes.
2. How long did the second band play?
probably a little longer? it was hard to tell because i was so caught up in it. :)
3. What song did MCR open with?
honestly? i never remember the set-list.i'm horrible about that. i just bliss out.
4. What song did MCR end with (pre encore - if there was and encore that is)?
they always end with helena ("so long and good-night" *grin*), but the pre-encore song was the always incredibly beautiful desert song. i could watch that performance forever.
5. Regarding the encore (if there was one); How many songs did they play when returning to the stage?
the encore was like in bits -- aside from the songs i already mentioned james did this whole amazing solo on the keyboard.
6. What (encore) songs did they play?
i'm pretty sure i already mentioned all the songs -- if i forgot any it's due to my faulty memory.
7. What was each member of the band wearing? (No detail is too trivial)
frank was in a thousand layers; mikey was in the classic "mikey fuckin' way" shirt; gerard was in the denim jacket and then the sleeveless gear; ray was in black i believe; bob was wearing a drumset and tube socks; and james had on the "fuck billy w-something" (i always forget the last name) shirt that they all wore for the second portland show.
8. Are you tired of my questions yet?
i have test anxiety!!!
9. Did I 'say' ENCORE enough?
never.
10. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the show?
elena said "on a scale of one to ten, i'd give it a ten. it had a good beat, and was easy to dance to."
lol
i myself would give it a...
TEN, duh.
11. Did Gerard say anything?
this question answers itself, because, it is, after all, gerard. however, i can report that he did tell us to "ride the wind" (lol), and accepted the blame for messing up song lyric, and many other lovely rambles and orders throughout the evening. :)
12. Bob didn't CUT HIS HAIR, did he????
HELL NO.
did i pass??? :)
I was so bummed at my PR that I missed half of Saosin's set because of the long line for merch and the long hike to the 2nd stage. But it was funny when the friend I dragged along accidentally stepped into the path of the huge circle pit! Her face was priceless I just wished I had had my camera handy, lol.
That sounds amazing, anon! Awww....after all this years, after all the excess(es) he's still a pretty down to earth guy, isn't he?!
He's one who KNOWS how fast it can come CRASHING DOWN. He's lived it and it seems he's learned.....
Of course, that 'reality' show freaks me out a bit, LOL!
When we saw HIM at PR, their bass was turned up so loud it gave me heart palpitations, no joke. It felt like my heart was going either to stop altogether or start beating erratically. It took my breath away, literally, and that's scary-loud.
Ergo, it's too bad we don't all live closer to each other. I always either end up going alone or having to bribe an unsuspecting victim. And the only time I get to listen to my CD's in the car is when I'm alone. The second my friends get in they change the station or just turn it off, grrrrr.
ergoproxy said...
Wendy, Bret is such an incredibly sweet guy. After all this time he could just get on the tour bus and leave right after the show, but he actually likes meeting his fans, I have so much respect for him because of that. Rock of Love is a little freaky but it is fun to watch though. That show ended up making my best friend really like him, she's kicking herself for not going with me last night.
I don't find their bass sound too loud.No where close to what The Killers do!
But, they (HIM) are my FAVORITE (second only to KISS, of course)!!
I'm off to read your story now.
I got sidetracked *blushes*
BC, just go to the damn show already! :D You know you want to. No, really, I bet you'll have a fantastic time and then will want to see Friday's show too. How much you wanna bet? ;)
anon it's great to hear people who really meet stars, you get a funny impression sometimes from the media, and Rock of Love, which I just watch to laugh at the women, they are usually really nice and caring about fans (if they can) is a great quality
Anonymous said...
I remember the first time I met him about 5 years ago, I was so nervous that he would be all 'rock star asshole' or something, but when I walked over to him he was warm and kind and honestly made feel like we were the only two people there. Even when I got a little gushy and tripped over my tongue a little (and literally on the bus steps - long story), he just smiled and didn't make me feel like an idiot. He may be a man-whore, but he is very sweet. Okay, I'll stop fan girling now, lol.
TJ I had a notebook because everyone asked me to report it back!
it's funny ergo because i went to prorev on my own, and so i brought my journal and scribbled in it during the breaks. my scrawls are pretty hard to read, especially the bits written after mcr -- my handwriting really went all loopy then! lol
YIPPIE!!!!!!!!!!
BC, never say never, you know? Keep an open mind, my friend (to semi-quote Mr Iero).
Now don't get me wrong, I love loud music; I'm usually the one at the stop lights who gets the funky looks from other drivers--and my windows are CLOSED!!! :D But having the bass line affect my breathing? Oh Hell NO. Not fun. Especially since I almost died from pneumonia in '01. Tried the not-breathing thing once, didn't care for it thanks!
MCR at PR in Indiana were BRILLIANT. I haven't seen a show full of such energy in years. And hearing "This Is How I Disappear" live gave me a new appreciation for the song.
My favorite song of theirs, live or recorded, though, is "House of Wolves". The combo of the bass drum and the howling guitar...oh fuck, just bliss. Orgasmic.
Is he also wearing the short black pants again?
We saw him at one point after the Indiana show. He had on the black pants, a black hoodie with the hood pulled up, and those damn white tube socks.
I told L that if Bob was trying to be inconspicuous, it wasn't working. It was like putting a yeti in church. :D
Some drummer jokes for Ergo:
Why are gaps between sets only 20 minutes?
So the drummer doesn't forget where he put the playlist
What do you call someone who hangs out with musicians?
A drummer.
How do you know when a drummer is knocking at your door?
The knock always slows down.
Why do bands have bass players?
To translate for the drummer.
Did you hear about the time the bass player locked his keys in his car?
It took two hours to get the drummer out.
What's the difference between a drummer and a drum machine?
With a drum machine you only have to punch the information in once.
How do you know when the stage is level?
The drummer drools out of both sides of his mouth
What do you call a beautiful woman on a drummers arm?
A tattoo.
How do trumpet players park in the handicapped slots?
They put drumsticks on the dashboard.
How is a drum solo like a sneeze?
You can tell it's coming, but you can't do anything about it.
*apologies to all drummers out there*
LOL
How many drummers does it take to change a light bulb?
Only one, but he'll break ten bulbs before figuring out that they can't just be pushed in.
I asked my drummer to spell "Mississippi"...
He said, "the river or the state?"
What did the drummer say to the singer?
A: Do you want me to play too fast or too slow?
There's a five pound note on the floor. Of a thrash guitarist, a drummer who keeps good time, and a drummer who keeps bad time, who picks it up?
The drummer who keeps bad time. The other drummer doesn't exist, and the thrash guitarist doesn't care about notes anyway.
And finally:
Why are most drummer jokes one-liners?
So guitarists can remember them
