Hollow point.

I will repeat it again and again.
For thirty-two, then thirty-three
time stopped. But, when does it end?
With empty rooms and unfilled beds,
and desperation; the last moments
and too many words left unsaid.

I am copying each name with bold black ink onto plain white card, filling the empty space with the only tangible evidence I have. One at a time I place a card face down before me while I consider each as if it were my own. Then, on the back of each card I write my name.
I can, but they cannot.

So, I will.

I remember that. When I heard about it, I was laughing my ass off. They should have made those shirts and sold them. I wanted one.

RW, I tried my hardest! I was obviously not as stealthy as Smoke. :(

Smoke, you're forgetting one necessary fact.

None of Mayo's doors lock!

Bwuahahaha.

Just grrrrr.

It's all good now though.

Ooops, that didn't make much sense.

I read it as you running to the bathroom door, not bedroom.

Oh, well you had the same beginning to your day as I had with mine!

Glad things are better though. :)

Hiiii!

Simon Says take a bite of your sandwich, Splash!

Anonymous said...

So Mayoooooo! I bought not one, but two cherry trees. I found ones that were really cheap! They're kind of little but already flowering. Are you happy for me? :D

Right now I'm making lunch for The Girl and then we're gonna go plant trees and flowers. It's a nice day, not too hot, a little chilly though maybe. Mayo, are you outside enjoying some nice weather? I hope so!

Anonymous said...

Hey, Jules!

Why am I biting a sandwich, huh?

Anonymous said...

Because Simon says, Splash.

Now cheeeeew!

SIMON DIDN'T SAY!

They taste kind of weird. O_o

sdock10 said...

Elena,

Great pic of TJ!

I don't know what happened. Those popsicles was good to me yesterday, but not today.

I want watermelon.

Smoke said...

Well come and get some! I gots a whole big bowl full that I just cut up. It's good and seedless, too.

My sweet daddy brought it to me.

Well, maybe not to me exactly. More like to LHM but oh well. ^_^

sdock10 said...

I'm too lazy.

There I said it.

Smoke said...

You suck.

I love the pic, Elena!!

sdock10 said...

No, no I don't.

I'm just lazy.

Smoke said...

And just for that reason...you suck.

You don't love me enough to come eat watermelon with me. What kind of sister are you?

Now, I'm sad. :(

sdock10 said...

You can't guilt me.

'Course, she's in Australia, so it would be an awfully long way for her to come...

Smoke said...

:(

You're making me cry.

Smoke said...

Well, mine is only about ten minutes away and she still won't come eat watermelon with me.

:(

Anonymous said...

Um, watermelon has a nasty-ass texture.

I don't like it.

Smoke said...

She should be ashamed of herself.
Making the princess cry.

Boo-hoo-hoo-hoo.

I can't even see the screen for all the tears.

sdock10 said...

The Princess doesn't cry.

Try again.

Smoke said...

Mustard! Noooo!

It does have to be crunchy though. I don't like mushy watermelon. Ewwwwwwww.

There's nothing better than crunchy watermelon and salt.

Except maybe, ummmm, butter.

Butter rules.

Just sayin'.....

Anonymous said...

Oh, Snap!

You did say last week you didn't cry!

Don't like watermelon??

Does not compute!

Smoke said...

STFU, Solly. I do, too.

Like once I did. I think.

STFU, just STFU!

resurrected wreck said...

No blueberries or raspberries, Mustard?

Smoke said...

The only fruit that I won't eat is mango. I don't like mango.

Bleh.

Other than that, I eat any fruit.

I could live off of fruit.

^_^

And butter.

Anonymous said...

Yes, ma'am, but you were 'posed to be putting it in question form.

I told you I'm not good at topic picking. You're the best ever, not me.

Oh, are we doing Food for Thought?

Anonymous said...

Too seedy, RW.

I don't like having to pick them out of my teefs.

Anonymous said...

Plums are my favorite, but peaches run a close second.
My ex boyfriend worked in a peach canning factory in Georgia one summer. He said he could never eat peaches after that. The smell killed him.

Anonymous said...

Hello, Star!

I have to ask. What did the peach canning factory smell like?

And don't say peaches. >.<

Smoke said...

Oooh, I bet that was rank. Stanky fruit is terrible.

Anonymous said...

Oh, btw, hello, Mustard, Smoke, Sdock, RW. I got all excited talking about plums and peaches that I forgot to say hi!

Smoke said...

Hi Star! ^_^

sdock10 said...

Grrrr...I can't think of how to put it in question form either.

You can take it several different ways.

Loss of time, loss of a relationship, loss of self, loss of dreams, loss of love, loss of a loved one, loss of a possession....see, it was good.

sdock10 said...

Mustard,

Lyrics for you. I have posted them before, but I think today you might need to hear them again.

Gravity

Caught in the shadows
My head is spinning
Everything's moving around and around
And the people were betting
And the loser that's winning
Is the one who has dibs on my face in the ground

And I know, "Hey, Suck it up girl"
And I know, "It's perspective you lack"
But my list is red starfish and blue lizards' tails
And I mark one thing off and five more come right back

Well I like the concept of tight vacuum packed
Let's shove fifty pounds of shit into a ten pound bag
So that keeps me chasing my tail all around
And most of the time it's just me being wagged

And I know I'm at the brow of my being
And I know it's hard to look down
And I'm probably as free as I ever will be
Still I choose to live like I'm gagging and bound

Well I wonder what it's like to walk around weightless
To jump for your heart and never come down
To know the potential of true human will
Without all of this gravity just dragging us down

And I know, one day we will wake up
And I know, and start to live as ourselves
And not let the cowards of history claim us
And stop pointing our fingers at everyone else

Sums it up, right? Fuck yes.

resurrected wreck said...

I'ma going to a Badass Backyard BBQ of Doom!

Anonymous said...

Yes, fuck yes.

And why the hell do we, in general, feel like there's no one else out there that gets it, hmm? WTF?

Anonymous said...

BABBQ o'DOOM

Sharpie that on yourself, RW! ;)

RW,

Do it. I dare you. And take a pic. Oh and go buy me sumfin'. ^_^

Hey there Anon!

resurrected wreck said...

I'm not going to the shops today, S&V, so I can't getcha anything :(

But I can bring you back some yummies from the BBQ!

Smoke said...

Loss.

Well, of course there have been people that I've lost that I wish I could have back. Even though I know they are probably alot happier where they are now.

Time.

You wake up one day and realize that you're not getting any younger and it's scary. I haven't dealt with that one yet.

Princess likes to procrastinate. One of my many faults. ^_^

sdock10 said...

Loss is interesting, but how about the shit that we hold on so tightly to that we never let go of?????

How about that?

Anonymous said...

Okay, so maybe it wasn't such a bad topic idea.

RW:
I'm not even gonna say. ;)

sdock10 said...

And then there are some things that you think you lost but you realize you never really had them to begin with....people, confidence, love.

Smoke said...

Like what the most important thing to you and why?

Oh jeez...

Independence.

I do not like depending on anyone else. Not my husband (which causes conflict) or anyone.

Only Solly for buying my concert tickets. ^_^

Anonymous said...

I have no answer, Sdock.

Mostly, the only thing I don't let go of are memories. But, what sucks is that I tend to hold on to the bad ones more often than the good ones.

I guess it allows me to see where I came from or how far away I've gotten from it or something. I'm not really sure.

sdock10 said...

Or do we hold on to the bad ones because we always want to be reminded? It's a way of keeping ourselves in check. A way to let the fear stay in control.

Smoke,

You know I will buy you concert tickets as long as there is breath in my body and I have a credit card.

Who do we want to go see next?

Anonymous said...

Hello, Anonymous. Almost lost you there. :)

And then there are some things that you think you lost but you realize you never really had them to begin with....people, confidence, love.

Yep, and then it's a slap in the face when you finally realize it.

Loss:
This seems so trivial, I don't even know if I should say it, but here goes.
Recently, I've lost some friends who got married before I did, and then had children. I've been married for 3 years, with no children. They hardly ever call me or invite me anywhere anymore. When I asked about it, they said that I am in a totally different place than they all are, and it's hard for them to relate.

I know that's true to a certain extent, but it still bothered me.

Yeah, that too.

And I don't understand that if it's a bad memory, why you don't suppress it. I thought that's what was supposed to happen.

I guess we make a concious effort to keep it around because we need it. I don't know.

Smoke said...

No, Star. That is not trivial at all. I've been there because I was the married one.

Nobody called me anymore when they were going out and doing stuff and I was married.

Time.

I have and it's fucking scary. So many things you realize you wish you'd done. So many missed opportunities. Moments gone that you wish you could have back. Maybe just for one day. Just to have the chance to see what things would have been like if you'd traveled down another path. TIME - it moves so quickly, I try to grasp it but it slips through my fingers.

Anonymous said...

I know that's true to a certain extent, but it still bothered me.

Oh man, Star. That's really hard. I've dealt with the same thing recently myself, not being in the same frame of mind, the same area of life as some of my friends. And the outcome wasn't so great for me, but I understand where you're coming from.

It does hurt. But, just because you're taking your time, so to speak, doesn't mean you aren't the same friend they knew and loved, you know?

Smoke said...

You know what's bad, Mustard? To see someone who should remember things but doesn't. Mainly because he can't. Partly by his own doing and partly by accident.

It's heartbreaking sometimes.

So hold on to all of those memories. The good and the bad.

Anonymous said...

You know what's bad, Mustard? To see someone who should remember things but doesn't. Mainly because he can't. Partly by his own doing and partly by accident.

It is bad. Especially when that little one is involved, or his family in general.

To want something so badly, but not be able to have it (or recall, in this case), it's a terrible feeling.

Anonymous said...

Star, its not trivial, and I can understand why their attitude would make you feel that way.

Its a shame your 'friends' seem to define the value of friendship based on demographics.

Smoke said...

Hey there again, Anon. :)

Yeah, it sucks. You can make time for who you want, ya know? Just because you're married doesn't mean all your single friends are like the plague or something and vice versa.

i was hoping to have new words to take with me on the road, mayo-sama, but i know you post when you can, and it isn't like i don't already carry a pocketful of your words with me. *grin*

we'll be hanging around online until it's time to go, i'm sure. i don't think i'll have an internet connection for a few days, so play nice in my absence!

Potato Salad with Mustard.

I'm not biased. At all. ;)

Seriously though, I'm not big on mayonnaise either.

sdock10 said...

Star,

Oh my god, I would steer clear.

Sorry I just barged in in the middle of your conversation, but I did have home fries this morning and they were really good.

I will try to give a full account of my experience later when I have more time, but I need to go pick up my daughter at my sis's house.

I think I will be smiling for at least a month after last night. Truly a memorable time.

Detroit Anon,

Please do! We'd love to hear all about it. :)

Detroit Anon, I know the feeling.

I couldn't wipe the grin off of my face after my concert. And the first words out of my mouth after leaving the venue were, "If I died tonight, I would die happy."

Not bothering with the usual "people and pets I loved" etc. and lost through death or just how things change--because those things are the obvious answers--I'm gonna have to say my ability to walk into the ocean without fear. I got my first real bad injury actually in the ocean. And since then I've been terrified of it even though it had nothing to do with the ocean itself. I love the ocean and I used to just go right into it and swim and body surf and a few times regular surf. But I'm deeply afraid of it now and I wish I wasn't. It's so weird.

Also I wish I had my writing mojo back, which is a joke because there's no such thing as "writing mojo;" it's just making yourself sit the hell down and write. So I guess I mean 'ambition." ^_^

And my love and joy for my job.

I kno how you're feeling, Star. The girl who was my best friend for years started feeling differently about me when she had her first child. She felt that we didn't have much in common anymore.

I'm sorry that you're going through that too. It sucks.
