Once more, with feeling.

Clutter. Even a precious possession can be set aside, misplaced or forgotten. Another less important object carelessly placed upon it, and another, and another, until it is buried. It is easy to become overrun and all that surrounds us consumes our sanity, our energy. Soon, you are unable to find what you had only a few weeks ago considered relevant. What a fucking mess.

It is usually in haste that I will begin to rummage through the piles. The need for immediate clearance prompts the overhaul. But rationale overrides rage and I trade trash bags for storage boxes. All that has been sorted out is neatly preserved. I am certain six months from now I will be digging through the boxes.

But for now, space has been cleared and I found my jacket.

The Burden of Elevation

I can no longer stand in front
and throw my fist at you, intent
on hearing every word, captured
in the moment spinning out of control.
But, I miss this like second nature
and then again, I was always more
comfortable slightly out of focus.

p.s. what the hell another won't hurt.

Hello Mayonaise. I hope you're okay.

Hello Mayo

How are you this evening?

Anonymous said...

Did you know the title of this post is named after the Buffy musical episode?

elena said...

It's so hard to let go the things from our past. We always question "What if I need it again?" Logical mind says move on, let it go but someplace deep in our memory we remember how it made us feel and we don't want to forget. We don't want to ever forget.

elena said...

That was one of my favorite Buffy's BC

Hello

I am fine, thanks for asking. And I hope you are all doing well yourselves.

Elena, ashamed to admit it, but that was the only Buffy episode I haven't seen. I wasn't at home when it aired the first time.

Anonymous said...

Well, in the end, I did sort of help you in a way.

I'm doing fine, thanks for asking.

So did you see the Buffy episode in question?

Mayonaise said...

Ah, the title...can't say that Buffy was what I had in mind.

I'm okay Mayo, just a bit somber tonight.

Goodnight Carrie, sweet dreams. Tomorrow= Friday!

I'm glad we get to speak to you again just for a bit Mayonaise. Good to see you again.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Anon616 said...

"Clutter. Even a precious possession can be set aside, misplaced or forgotten. Another less important object carelessly placed upon it, and another, and another, until it is buried."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But, buried does not mean forgotten, Mayo.
And, if you're still thinking about this precious possession....
well, it has not been forgotten! I'm sure it's waiting, under all that mess, to be retrieved and placed within your eye sight - once again!
Carrie said...
That's *sorting*, I've been told it looks like snorting, so wanted to clarify.
That just makes it funnier, Mayo.
Youre mine and Im yours for the taking
Right now the rules we made are meant for breaking
I am well, happy, healthy and sane, thank you, and it's good to see that you hung out with the others for a little while because it makes you seem a little more human.
On the subject of "little human", my friend Claire leaves today on maternity leave - who's belly am I going to be able to touch now without it seeming really weird?! I'm getting so broody now, it's a damn good thing I'm single or I'd be sabotaging my contraception...
Mayo,
Glad to hear from you. I'm sorry I missed you last night but you know how that real life shit is sometimes. It loves to get in the way of BlogBelieve. I wish I had an override button but oh well, oh well, oh well....It's nice to know that you are happy, healthy, well, and feeling fine. Me? I'm okay...typical Sdock/Solly. Now as for which one? I don't know yet.
I find myself sitting here this morning with plenty of time to write. Funny what getting up extra early will do for you. It's so quiet in my house and that's all good, but I miss my music. None for me this morning...now how will I ever find that clue I was talking about last night if I can't hear the song? Damnit, I just don't know if I will find it on country radio either.
It's so weird that you mentioned the "relatively sane" thing because I had been thinking the same thing a few days ago. It was going to go something like:
Here I feel I have once again found sanity
That is...unless everyone of us here is fucking crazy
See I told you that you could find things if you stopped looking for them so hard.
Oh well, at least I acknowledge that I'm a little.....different, maybe?
Now...on to that jacket you found. Were you looking for it because you wanted to wear it again? Does it still fit? Did you find twenty dollars in the pocket? Did you just want to take it out and look at it? Remember how you felt when you wore it? Does it feel the same or has the man wearing it changed?
Dude, I told you I had a lot of time this morning.
And I can't blame you for not throwing shit away. I keep everything. It's really a disaster. I will hold on to something forever....just waiting to use it again. And then, I can never find it. I should label my storage boxes....yes?
I was always more comfortable slightly out of focus. Aren't we all, man? Aren't we all? Even ugly can be pretty when you can't see the fine lines and details. It gives it almost an airbrushed quality. Speaking only about myself here...you know what I mean.
Mayo, hope you have a good one. I know you are really fond of that jacket, but now that you have cleared space and it's springtime, treat yourself to a brand new one. Because you never know...
Love to YOU Always,
S
Hiya Mayo, I'm sorry that I missed you 'cause I miss you.
Not so sure about the "sane" part, especially today. Uhh, I'll let you know if "sane" has anything to do with today at all or if "sane" and "today" will be living in two separate states and not even sending cards at christmas.
But thank you for the sentiment.
So which one was the jacket? You know Mayo, "Spring cleaning" really kinda doesn't answer anything. But of course, you're not obliged to. :)
Well, thank you for making a new post as always. It's good to read you.
So, off I go again today.
In passing.
Mayo,
You really should allow your sense of humor to shine a bit more, dude. I chuckled outloud (at 3:30 this morning when I woke up because I couldn't sleep because my brain doesn't get that it's supposed to shut down, but anyhoo!) reading that!
I was always more
comfortable slightly out of focus.
Isn't that the truth. People can't see who we really are, a permanent mask that really isn't our fault. They should get their eyes checked, right? But, it makes us feel good because they can't see every flaw and imperfection. We take care of that on our own.
As for your posts, I came to the conclusion that what you did with them was your business and not mine. I figured there was a good reason to explain their absence. And I had no room to say anything, you know? Glad you've taken care in the way you wished.
Anyway, I'm sorry we missed you as well. I'm very glad to hear you're doing okay. After all, that's all I really wanted.
Have a wonderful day, Mayo!
The Silken Tent
by Robert Frost
She is as in a field of silken tent
At midday when the sunny summer breeze
Has dried the dew and all its ropes relent,
So that in guys it gently sways at ease,
And its supporting central cedar pole,
That is its pinnacle to heavenward
And signifies the sureness of the soul,
Seems to owe naught to any single cord,
But strictly held by none, is loosely bound
By countless silken ties of love and thought
To every thing on earth the compass round,
And only by one's going slightly taut
In the capriciousness of summer air
Is of the slightlest bondage made aware.
And cleansing everything
To forget your love
My plug in baby
Crucifies my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
My plug in baby
In unbroken virgin realities
Is tired of living
Don't confuse
Baby you're gonna lose
Your own game
Change me
Replace the envying
To forget your love
My plug in baby
Crucifies my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
My plug in baby
In unbroken virgin realities
I'm tired of living
And I've seen your loving
But mine is gone
And I've been in trouble
Every 6 months I go through the same clothing ritual. I guess it’s a way for me to let go of the past season and welcome the one coming. It gives me time to find lost items and lose found ones.
As I go through the containers I had packed not so long ago, I find small treasures. Sometimes it’s in the form of money accidently left in a pocket. Other times I find something I had lost the previous season. It’s also a time for weeding out the crap. I’ll look at a dress and say, “Holy shit! Did I actually wear that out in public?”
While some things are good to hang on to, others should be let go. I let go of the things that no longer fit me. They could be tattered and torn, or just worn so thin it's time to retire that item.
Either way, I like the changing of the seasons. It helps to remind me that we are forever moving forward and changing. Even when I take the time to rest, time marches forward with or without my participation.
Wouldn't it be nice if we had Spring, Fall, Summer, and Winter cleaning?
I throw junk away all year long. If I see it in my closet and think, "There's no way I'd wear that again," it gets chucked. If it's stuck back in the farthest reaches of closet-abyss and it's a miracle I even found it to begin with, it's leaving my possession.
Moreover, if I see things, old papers, old journals, old magazines that I can't stand to reread, they go, too. I see no sense in unburying buried thoughts and ideas. It's best left to time.
It's the things upstairs that require month to month cleaning. Cobwebs form (that no amount of headbanging can remove) and they help to hold in things you'd like to disappear. And all the while, things are getting tucked away and labeled, "Do Not Open."
An endless cycle of stashing and chucking, one that never seems to end. Buried waist, sometimes neck, deep in thoughts and feelings you wished you never had.
Hello Mayo, SS and Family!
Hey Mayo,it’s good to hear you’re okay.
You know,I agree sometimes tidying up your possessions is necessary. I’m the kind of person who can’t stand to live among mountains of objects which have lost their meaning or are not useful anymore.
But you have to choose carefully what you need to get rid of: you have to analyze them with attention and try to remember the story behind each of them, why they were so important to you and why you decided to keep them instead of just throwing them away.
And if you can find even
only one reason so that those objects should be conserved, well then you just dust them and put them back in the corner where they belong,wondering if next spring those very items will still mean something to you.
I’m glad you’ve chosen to hide your words in a safer place.
And I’m glad to know you found your jacket,at least! ;)
“But before I do, I just want to say to everyone who isn't here tonight...I am sorry that I missed you and I hope you are all doing well and are happy, healthy, and relatively sane”
Thank you, my friend.
Stay safe, Mayo-man.
hi TJ!!
how's it going? how was the signing? some one said you were first in the queue! i have been thinking of you!
Anonymous said...
What signing? Did I miss something?
Anonymous said...
Hi squeak squeak *hugs* Siobhan, they had a comic book signing with Gerard in Portland three days ago.
You have a myspace page? That's the only way you can look at mines. Not everyone can see it. He sent me a friend request and asked me to guess which band member he was ^_^
toujours said...
yes, my friends and i were the first three people in line at gerard's comic book signing tuesday. after us, the fangirl deluge. *heh*
farawaysoclose said...
that's cool BC! i have caught brief glimpses of your convos with him!!
yeh siobhan the comic book signing in portland 3 days ago. i keep missing TJ!!
farawaysoclose said...
oh wow TJ!! what did he say?? anything?? what remaining gigs have you got? i know you have the 15th with elena and anima and the beginning of may with elena and the OPs?? is that right??
Anonymous said...
No, I don't have a MySpace, BC!
Do you think it would be okay for Triston if you show me the band pic?
So, did you have the chance to talk to Gerard, TJ?
Anonymous said...
You are going to their concert three times, TJ?
Why?
toujours said...
i did talk to him, but just a brief exchange while he signed the comic for paperheart. he was very kind.
i still have the show with elena for sure, the others are still undetermined yet -- have to get things sorted out! but it's been great so far and i think i wish i could stay out "on the road" as long as they do, and not come home until after the madison sq. gardens show. :)
Anonymous said...
So, are you trying to go to all concerts then?
Anonymous said...
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say this, but Siobhan, all of the members are pretty old ^_^
toujours said...
siobhan, ive already been to three shows now -- in four days, making my total mcr attendance 7 shows.
why?
really?
because i'm alive when they're on stage, and they recharge my spirit and my drive to live my life according to my heart.
toujours said...
So, are you trying to go to all concerts then?
if the fates would allow it, yes, i would.
farawaysoclose said...
TJ it sounds fantastic!! i am so jealous!! i know elena is so looking forward to meeting you and anima on the 15th!! are you going to the madison square gardens gig??
i would just die!! well i wouldn't but you know living in england has its disadvantages!!
toujours said...
i don't have any plans to see that show -- but something will come up if i'm meant to be there.
that's the way this trip has been working out. :)
Anonymous said...
Wow! You're a hardcore fan then?
But it's cool if it makes you happy!
What do you mean with old, BC?
farawaysoclose said...
well you just enjoy yourself TJ!! it's not often that an opportunity like that comes up where you are free to travel and do these things!! i am so jealous!! as i keep saying!
Anonymous said...
Pancake-Zilla, concerning Triston's band, including him, they're pretty old. In age I mean ^_^
farawaysoclose said...
well he is 149 yrs old BC!!
Anonymous said...
You can't believe what I have to watch right now.
The disgusting uncensored version of that child molestor R. Kelly's song 'Fiesta'.
I would so like to punch those stupid sluts in the face, who are so ass dumb to expose themselves like this in that shitty clip.
And when is that asshole finally going to jail for having sex with minors?
toujours said...
oh, hardcore fan? gosh, i never really thought of myself that way...
i feel kind of creepy about myself now.
Anonymous said...
Faraway, ha ha. True :D
Siobhan, then don't watch it! Eww
O_o
Anonymous said...
I don't meant it in a creepy, fanatic stalker kind of way, but you really seem to like that band.
toujours said...
well, i certainly don't go around wearing frank's eye make-up or anything, but this band came along at a time in my life when i really needed some inspiration and revitalization.
they do mean a lot to me.
Anonymous said...
I'm waiting for another show to begin and fortunately it's already over.
I already forgot that this song featured Jay-Z.
This reminds me of Gerard enthusiastically posing with that dumbhead at the MTV music awards a few years ago.
Two feminists fighting for women's rights, hahahhaha!!!
farawaysoclose said...
this band came along at a time in my life when i really needed some inspiration and revitalization.
me too TJ!! i do understand!!
take care of yourself!
siobhan and BC i have to go guys!! sorry i've not been overly chatty, i was just trying to catch up on everything with limited time!!
take care guys!
love to you all.
Anonymous said...
That's okay Faraway. Goodnight and sweet dreams!
Siobhan-san, silly goose, are you being bitter again? ^_^
Pixie said...
hi there and a nice afternoon7evening/morning, how´s everyone???
mayo, thanks for the new post, hope you´re doing fine whereever you are :)
Anonymous said...
Bye Fasc! Take care, honey!
BC, not bitter, sarcastic! ^_^
Anonymous said...
Hello my dear pixie, how are you? *hugs*
toujours said...
bye, faraway! hello there pixie. :)
Anonymous said...
Hello, my dear Pixie!
Alles schön geschmeidig?
Anonymous said...
Siobhan-san, I think pretty soon I will be in the same boat as you because these days I don't care or listen to MCR anymore. I lost my interest in them.
Pixie said...
hi girls, I´m fine, I mean it´s weeeekend and a friend and I´ll go to a tattooshop tomorrow, I hope I won´t have to wait weeks for an appointment ^^
alles mehr oder weniger geschmeidig siobhan! ;)
Anonymous said...
That's good pixie. You're getting a tattoo?! Cool! ^_^
Anonymous said...
Triston's pic is on his blog.
if i had to guess his age, i would say he is in his mid to late 40's.
Anonymous said...
I would never ever spend a frigging dime on them, BC!
In my opinion, they're just not worth it anymore.
Pixie said...
jep I hope to get 2 tattoos, actually... I already have an old one, so time for some new ones. I wanted a new one since years but never got the money or the time ^^
Anonymous said...
Anon 4:15
Yeah, that's what I meant when I said he was old. Siobhan-san, I stopped spending my money on merchandise and CD's a long time ago. It's not worth it anymore, and I could care less about the message.
Unfortunately, I wasted my money buying on tickets for the shows, since I discovered that I can't attend them.
Oh well. I have my other favorite bands to listen to.
Pixie, that's awesome. I wish I
could get a tattoo, but I'll wait ^_^
What designs are you planning on getting?
Anonymous said...
That made me curious, anon.
If that's Triston, then he looks like a nice guy.
Pixie said...
What designs are you planning on getting?
--------------
so one tattoo will be a symbol and a sentence, I´m just not sure how it´ll look great, so I hope the tattooarists has some good ideas how to combine it and the other one will be a really small one ^^
Anonymous said...
Anon, aren't you the same anon who posted song lyrics the other day?
Anonymous said...
What? What?
Kittens? Where?
Anonymous said...
Well, at least the pictures can dispel the theories about me being in love with him.
Although that was funny so..
Anonymous said...
Is that you, 'Adam and the Ants'-Anon?
Anonymous said...
How did Triston find your MySpace, BC?
Do you have the same nick there?
Anonymous said...
Aw pixie, I'm sorry. I just saw your comment right now.
What you can do is maybe bring some pictures with you to show to the tattoo artist and let them know how you want the design.
toujours said...
anon, are you gargling? you sound odd.
i was just going back over the older posts -- trying to catch up on comments, oofa. but anyway, i really liked those quotes posted by sei shonagon, they were lovely.
i've only read the first volume of the tale of genji, but the style of those quotes reminded me of how lovely a read it was.
i especially liked the bit about the lady on a pilgrimage (for obvious reasons, lol), and also the part about letters. i feel that way about this place actually, sometimes.
i need to go take care of a few things (shower, repack, find out why the hell the post office isn't delivering my mail, and my paychecks!) but i'll be back a little later on.
see ya.
Anonymous said...
Take care TJ. Siobhan, a while back, I posted a link to my myspace on my profile page here.
I guess he found it through there, even though it's not posted there anymore.
I sent him a comment earlier asking about it. My nickname there is different than the one here.
Anonymous said...
Bye TJ! Take care!
Anonymous said...
bc,
don't you think you're being kinda rude to Triston.
he never said he was twenty five years old.
Anonymous said...
You wanted to show me a picture of you with short hair.
Do you remember that, BC?
Is it still short or did you let it grow again?
Anonymous said...
I wouldn't think so anon, I was just a bit surprised, is all, considering some anon last night said I was in love with him.
Pixie said...
damn blogger ate my comment ^^
bye tj take care *hugs*
Anonymous said...
Well siobhan, my hair is still short. I WAS planning on getting it cut again this week, but for now, I am going to let it grow a bit.
I haven't taken any pictures yet though.
Anonymous said...
Siobhan, do you have email where I can send you the pics? I don't want to post them here.
Pixie said...
I also have shorter hair and I love it, but my best friends weeding is in july and so I decided to let it grow till that day.... but I´m happy to go to a hairdresser after it ^^
Anonymous said...
bc,
he eluded to the fact that he was an older guy many times.
the comment you made about how seeing his pic will dispel the theories about you being in love with him was rude and fucked up.
Anonymous said...
Yes, on my profile page, BC!
Rasputins Revenge said...
Now you know the VAMPIRE...Yes The band is OLD....But Not Me ;)
Rasputins Revenge said...
Yeah bc...WHATS UP WIT DAT...DAT WAS FUCKED UP....LOL
Anonymous said...
I like how shorter hair doesn't weigh you down. I used to have hair all the way down to my butt, and it was such a pain in the ass to manage.
Anonymous said...
Triston!!! There you are!
How are you?
Anonymous said...
Oh shut up anon. If I may, I will apologize to Triston. I'm sorry.
Pixie said...
I also had long hair and my mom still complains about the shorter hair, but also likes it.when I´m now back home in germany visiting my parenst the most people don´t recognize me on the street because of the shorter hair and the total different color *laugh*
hi there triston, how are you? :)
Rasputins Revenge said...
I am incredible....Have to play tonight...but still incredible.....Awwwww BC..Thats OK sweety!!
xo
Anonymous said...
Thank you Siobhan. I'll send you the pics when I'm done although I suck at taking them of myself, ha ha.
Good afternoon Triston.
toujours said...
mayo,
clarity is always better than being out-of-focus.
you scare me.
and shame me.
because i always worry about being a burden to people in my life, it's one of my fears -- that i'll need them too much, that i'll lean on them too much, and my greed and my need will be the thing that breaks them.
and as much a i crave that contact, and that tug, as much as i need those things to let me know i'm real, i would rather be a hermit forever if it meant that the people important to me were happy and strong, freed of the task of supporting me.
so much has happened, it rushes all in on me, and i don't know what is real anymore.
for two nights in a row, i shook and cried to the song "cancer". it was a release, it was a the point of the evening when all that had built up in me poured away with the music to that song, with that cathartic voice.
the third night, i was watching too closely to cry.
and then...
it's all tangled.
and none of this means anything, right?
so straighten my spine. wash my face. repack my suitcase and get ready to head out again. there will be answers out there. won't there be?
my friend gave me astro zombies on a mix cd, so now i can listen to it whenever i want.
just, stay clear, dammit.
toujours said...
and forgive me my imagination and weaknesses.
Anonymous said...
Pixie, it was the same with my family. The past summer I visited them in Texas, they were so surprised that I didn't have the long hair anymore and how different I looked. They would ask me "Why did you cut your hair long?" Or "You look so different" blah blah blah lol :D
Thank you for accepting my apologies Triston :)
And anon, I'm sorry too, but those love theories are absolutely untrue. Who is going to tell me that I like someone when I don't have any romantic feelings for anyone at the moment? It makes me feel really uncomfortable.
Rasputins Revenge said...
So I did not hide forever......I have two truckloads of equipment to move so I will be off.....
Anonymous said...
See you later Triston. I hope you have a great show.
Anonymous said...
Bye Triston! Take care!
Anonymous said...
Stop with the exclamation points Siobhan! It makes you look like you're too excited! ;p
Anonymous said...
I posted that link yesterday for Triston, but I want you to watch it too.
Does anyone of you know that TV series?
I love it so much!!
They can see in the dark
Pixie said...
bye triston
Anonymous said...
I'm so looking forward to seeing your pics, BC!
Anonymous said...
Siobhan, never heard of it. As for pictures, I'll send only one because my camera is not taking nice looking ones.
Pixie said...
siobhan: awwwwwww I loved "der kleine vampir" when I was a kid!!!!!!!
Anonymous said...
Okay!
Still looking forward to it!
It's a Canadian TV series based on a German children's book called 'Der kleine Vampir' (The little vampire). I so loved watching it.
Gert Fröbe (Goldfinger) plays a vampire slayer called Geiermeier.
I loved reading the books when I was a child.
MissTottenham said...
Hello!
Rasputins Revenge said...
Oh one more thing...BC Which of those pics are of you? I am not sure.
Pixie said...
Anonymous said...
