well, it was an "interesting" day, here and in the real world. the attacks in here truly left me appalled, but my own day wasn't so lovely either.
you know yesterday i wrote all that great stuff about thresholds and new beginnings? i feel pretty stupid about it now, because my day was the exact opposite of what i described. i failed so hard today. failed utterly.
and it wasn't just that i didn't do anything, it's that one of those black storms came up out of nowhere, and the day was spent in it's thrall.
well, i won't go into it, i wrote it all out on my blog, once the bulk of the storm finally passed, and it did help somewhat to pull out the pain and pin it down with words.
but it left me feeling hollow and drained for most of the evening. and now i'm just disappointed with myself. if this was my great new beginning, my opportunity to step out into my future with strength, then i fell flat on my face.
what do i do next? i have to start over again, tomorrow, and the day after and so on, but dammit, i really doubt that i'm going to be able to do anything at all. it's all just a waste.
gah, i'm sorry.
i guess even despite the anon attacks, this place still feels like a safe space to me. i wouldn't have cried on your sleeve like that if i didn't. sorry about that.

Morning, how are you? I hope you're still asleep. Why in the world would you be up at this hour on a Saturday if you didn't have to? Which begs the question...why am I up? Couldn't sleep. My nose was stuffy and burning, but I feel better than yesterday. YAY! I sprayed Lysol before I sat down in the corner. Don't worry. I don't think I am contagious anymore.
So, if it's okay with you, I am going to hang here all day. I haven't done that in ages. I want to sit back and watch and listen and maybe jump in from time to time. I might even grab a broom and start cleaning up the mess the anons left.

I see today was another one of those days. I don't think it really matters what web community these people come from, enough is enough.
There is such a thing as called human decency. Some anon comments today completely crossed the line of no return.
For the anon at 1.21 and 1.30am, when you understand that everyone here, no matter how strong they appear, has feelings, that abortion is not a word to be used as a weapon, and the depth of a parent's love for their child, then, and only then will you ever contribute anything worth listening to. For one, you would never have made the comments you did. If you don't like it here, or the people that visit.just.leave.
I keep hearing talk of regs posting as anons and attacking other posters. For goodness sakes, if there are anon regs and if you have issues with someone EMAIL them and get it out in the air or just please scroll down. Not everyone hear will agree with each other all the time but at least agree to disgree without the subterfuge.
Over the last few months we have been fortunate enough to have the company of insightful, humourous, shy and sharing anons.
Thank you to all of you nameless people for being part of this amazing place and showing that most anons around here have something that is worth listening to. Each one of you has been worth 20 of those other anons.

Yes, Jazz Fest has been that big and varied for as long as I can remember. The attendance was astronomical in 2005 (before Katrina hit and screwed up so much in the NOLA area).
Attendance the last couple of years has been a little lower than expected/hoped for, but I have a feeling this year is going to be HUGE again!
Here's a little JAZZ FEST history for you:
