I prefer it twice a day.

To a Reader
Robert Hass

I've watched memory wound you.
I felt nothing but envy.
Having slept in wet meadows,
I was not through desiring.
Imagine January and the beach,
a bleached sky, gulls. And
look seaward: what is not there
is there, isn't it, the huge
bird of the first light
arched above first waters
beyond our touching or intention
or the reasonable shore.

p.s. they are not entirely well yet...in the meantime, in others words I revel.

Am I the only one who has wondered why guys describe "build"?

I should be relieved that they're taking about bodies and not construction.

"Hi, I'm Matt. 22, brown hair, blue eyes. Slightly Shed-like, but trying for Garage."

I really should go to bed but I refreshed the page instead.

That's so cool Bikey. Sheffield is often likened to Rome as they are both built on seven hills.

The countryside in the peak national park is amazing though.

Goodnight. I mean it this time ha!

See you tomorrow.

I hear that, Bikey. I'm working with a psycho these days. I guess at the very least it makes it slightly more interesting.

Friday! Keep repeating that. ^_^

Amy, you cracked me up so hard just then I nearly spit out my water.

amyranth I think they hope the female would respond in kind.
Love your description!

I love the "used to have a 6 pack now it's a keg"
like I'm going to fall for their humour

ok I have to share the computer with a girl who wants to play spongebob.

Thank you, Bikey.

Now, let's see, any tattoos or piercings?

Height?

And what are your intentions concerning our Miss T.? Hmmmmmmm...

In fairness, you can ask us stuff too.

Original Punk J said...

Amy, that was priceless.

Oh, yeah, Ergo, I meant, we have a credit YARD, you know, the one where you get so much dirt at a time and...

Um, yeah.

L.

Amyranth said...

Ergo, that's when you say you don't do keg parties. XD

Kapu, so long as you didn't bite your tongue, I'm glad. I bit my tongue today and it's wrecked my whole day.

It makes that crunching noise, right? And then you taste the blood before you feel the pain, but you know it's coming?

UGH.

Anonymous said...

Sorry folks, phone call from my ex!

You just have to get the right kind for jeans Ergo. Uh, longish hair and about medium height. No tats, no piercings.

Not to worry about Miss T, I'll look after her.

SS,
It was good to see you earlier today. You are always in our hearts, no matter where you are. Always remember that. Love you too.

I've done it now haven't I? Mention the ex and all the ladies leave the room! Perhaps it's my lack of tatoos??

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Maybe if you run through the blog naked bikey. They will come back.

sally said...

Hmmm, not everyone likes tattoos.

Well BlogBelieve, I'm off to bed. But first I should tell you that in chat tonight, we've decided to live in a commune--not just any commune though, but one with internet (high speed) and DJ's (also high speed.)

This commune shall be called PORNLAND. In allcaps like that: PORNLAND. Like Disney, only without clothes. There you can ride the MATAPORN. And like Disney it will be divided up into sections, or "worlds." And one of the worlds will be called "Boys Kissing."

Who's with us?

Goodnight, all!

BC/Avenger

Martha Smith-Jones said...

I don't know about that Bikey. Anyway we need someone to do it. I don't think Miss t did it today.

Anonymous said...

Aww Bikey. ^_^ Maybe if you had a tattoo of, like, a bleeding skull surrounded by blue fire. Or a naked chick on your bicep. Yeah, ain't nothing a gal likes better than seeing a nakie chick looking back at you! Or perhaps some pretentious Chinese lettering on your arm that you have no idea what the hell it says?

And as for me, well, I will get a "tribal" style tattoo on my lower back and will have no idea what the hell it signifies, either. Then a butterfly on my shoulder and a rose on my ankle.

Boys like that, yes?

(No offense to anyone with any of those tattoos. I know lots of people who have those exact thing. Lots.)

Goodnight, BlogBelieve. Goodnight, PORNLAND.

Anonymous said...

Thanks, Entropy. He doesn't look as pale as he did before. Not so much "The Albino Priest" as "The Slightly Flushed and Rugburned Priest." WTF, E?! WTF.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Goodnight Kapu and I will join you in PORNLAND.

Boys kissing is great.

Hello BC. Goodnight Kapunua.

sally said...

Kapu, Pornland? I'II think about that.

Hey BC, how are you tonight sweetheart?

Anonymous said...

This guy isn't into tatoos on women. If need be something small, maybe, but that's it.

Amyranth said...

Bikey needs a tattoo of a hot naked chick's bleeding skull surrounded with blue fire with yellow tips.

Then, he could go to Warped Tour and have a small pack of women following him at all times.

-A

Amyranth said...

Entropy, that stain didn't come out.

Anonymous said...

Hi there Katherine. Just had a fresh shower and something to eat, so I feel much better. Thanks for asking. How are you? Bikey, I hope you're well.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Bikey it depends on the tattoo. If they got it just to be cool than there is no point. but if its something that has a lot of meaning to them than I'm okay with it.

don't worry about the streaking. I'm shy as well.

sally said...

Amy, I couldn't think of a worse tattoo, along with poultry or insects!

Entropy said...

Jules, he was the one that suggested it,not me. Night!

Amy, Really? For sure? You know,I think that was there before I got in there. We weren't that bad.

Amyranth said...

There! The safest kind of streaking there is!

Fimble Star said...

Do you remember what your home is like? Not just your house but your home town. Do you remember the smells that you breathed in when you first stepped out into the open air, the sights that you saw each and every day, the noises that you heard just by closing your eyes and truly understanding where you were by what you could hear. Can you remember what it felt like to take each step you took down every familiar road. Is there a special place that you would always run to when you were upset, the kind of place where you thought no one knew of, a place where you was safe as long as you were there.

I remember each and every sound in my home town like the bus going past at 30mph and the birds chirping outside of the window. I remember the smells that managed to fill the air, yeast was a permanent smell due to the brewery. If I close my eyes I can remember step by step the journey I would take to go to my favourite places. If I close my eyes I can see the image of myself looking out of my window, seeing the tiniest detail that only takes years of truly spending the time watching. When you are there you take it all for granted, never truly understanding what it would be like to be in a foreign place where you do not have any friends, where people speak English but a whole different kind of English. Where the streets, sounds and smells are another world away from where your heart is. This is where memories come in handy, I spend a lot of time with my eyes closed trying to remember my home. I fear that one day I will forget everything about my home, about where my heart truly lies.

I hope that you remember your home and never forget the most important parts that make it your home. No matter where you are, if you close your eyes you can be anywhere that you desire. Just remember it and try and never forget.

Oh, my little Fimmy Fim, I'm so sorry you're homesick. I got that way when I moved to MI from VA, so I can't imagine what it's like to move a whole continent away. Will a hug help at all, and I have some stale Hob Nobs in my pantry.

Anonymous said...

No tatoos for me either. My tastes change too much over the years. Sometimes I'll whip out some music or see a film I loved in my teens and think WTF?? I can't imagine being stuck with something on my body reminding me of how sad I used to be. I also refuse to wear guyliner!

Bikey, don't let these crazy chickies get you down. You sound like a lovely match for Miss T. I'm sure she would be deeply honored to be squired about by you. :)

Mayo, honey, hope you had a good day today. We were so happy to see you in a good mood last night. Laughter is such a healing factor; you should indulge in it much more often.

ok the jeans boxers are the sort of tight stretchy ones?
and guyliner, well some carry it off but again, depends.
isn't it just you see a movie you thought was great and then look at it and see the really lame cliches, like TopGun.
(still cool with Iceman though)

His aunties still do the old rolling tubes by hand and his uncles mum (who just passed away ) was so good at it.I love dinner at their homes!
(ok I can hear someone playing meatloaf -anything for love and we have no close neighbours and so i am not sure if a car is stopped down the road or it's them in their front paddock, may need to go look surrepticiously)

Ah Ergo, You haven't lived till you've had a cheesesteak! The best ones are done in Philadelphia, but they are not too bad in NJ either.
Basically it's a long, hard bread roll filled with very thin slices of fried steak and covered in melted cheese. I always like to add fried onions as well.

I only went to Manchester for a few days, FS. I remember the hotel was nice and was right near a canal. Can't remember the name now.

Your poem:
How perfect,it possibly represents a collective past suffering, perhaps the beginning? Presently, it touches on the private and group pain, of blog members and yourself.
I am impressed, that you appear to be continuing on, with what you requested, not so long ago.

For whatever it is worth…

Your words and actions have touched a place in my heart. At times; when thinking to flee, my purpose served. A sound stirs, which pulls me back. As if…it is a chain and lock around; heart and soul. Smiling, the key is once again, forgotten.

Mayonaise, I finally took a look at your poem earlier during the day and feel as if there was a hint of sadness emancipating from it. Are you okay? If there is something going on, you know that you are always free to talk to us about it, but I can understand if you might be hesitated or do not want to speak to us about it. I will not push you, but I do hope that you are not suffering in silence. Silence itself can or will cause the problem to expand and multiply when kept to one’s self. Speaking is never a horrible thing. Sure, it can be frightening, but it can also be freeing as well. As I have said last night, I wish I could hug and comfort you.
After everything that had happened during the last four months and I do mean everything, I am not angry at you. At times I was, but no longer. The things you have done, I forgive. Why? People say forgiveness makes one strong, not weak, and I believe that. And it is also a wonderful feeling of feeling free from all of the emotions one holds in for so long.

It does not matter what happens now, tomorrow, or in the distant future, you will always have my support. Sure you can be quite frustrating at times, but it does and will not change a damn thing. I hope you are welcoming our support with open arms. If not, well, you know I can bust your balls at any time he he (kidding!)

All my love to SS for being an incredible and intelligent dude, even though I do not know you that well. You are the fucking love. For real. You too my little jar of refrigerated Mayonaise. Yes, I do enjoy calling you that. I think it’s quite funny. I hope you do not mind.

this is the kind of poem i like. it has space for me to rest in, it doesn't come from the poet's intellect, but from his heart. when i read it, the first part is heartsore, but the second part has me standing on the wet beach at my seahurst park, looking out at the cold puget sound. it's a quiet place in the winter, a good place to stand and listen to the water talk with the shore, and think about the mysteries of things.

of course, the light i would see standing there would be sunset, the light of endings, but it doesn't matter. it's not a sad time. looking out over the deep water at the light is always such an outward reaching, always an endless uplifting moment.

maybe this isn't what the poet intended, but this poem reminds me to look up from the damp dark sand at my feet and watch the light, and listen to its silent song. it reminds me to search out the beauty around me, always, especially in the lonely moments, especially when i'm curled tight around my own pain.

so, i thank you, once again, for beauty and poetry. you've lead my thoughts along new paths, once again.

do you remember i once sent you a beautiful day? i think i have just enough postage to send you another one. keep a sharp eye out for it, ok?

good night, mayo. best of dreams to you.

hi mayo well thought I'd add my bit for the night.
I hope you read the jokes we shared this morning (well earlier, it was morning for me.)

I really hope you are finding time to laugh. Your poem? Was it to someone here, or was it left for someone who visits to read.
Or did you just like it?
I hope your words are healing, and that you find our words part of that healing, or just a distraction.
Anyway it's good.
Hope you are feeling that your resolution is being fulfilled. Do you ask yourself each night? Just learn from the answer.

SS I enjoyed your visit. Perch ...haha.
Hope you perhaps added some jokes to your repertoire.

everyone else
a brief note
Sir Edmund Hillary passed away today, he was an adventurer and a humanitarian who did much for the people of Nepal. He shall be remembered fondly by many.
(and he drove a tractor to the south pole! How cool is that!

and the first ever blue eyed koala was born today, they named him Frank - after Ol' Blue Eyes, but we know another.

Mayo hope love and health and happiness and comfort surrounds you and yours
much love xx

How dare you suggest I made a spelling mistake! "Berk" is a well known English word meaning, like about 50% of them, "idiot", but it's almost a term of endearment interchangeable with both "muppet" and "twerp".

But I'll let you off this one time, Yoda, seeing as you spread the Frankie-love so enthusiastically!

Please post for Mayo for me

Mayo,

Hello to you, my friend...how are you doing? Great, I hope. Me? I just woke up and I am trying to type really quietly as to not wake my other half. I don't feel like explaining this morning because I am still tired....and so on and so forth.

I never really mentioned your poem yesterday. So I will give you my thoughts on that now. I think it's beautiful, sad, yet hopeful. It reminds me of someone. I miss her. I will always miss her. But through my loss and my grief, I remember her innocence, her love, her spirit, and her kind soul. I carry those with me every single day. Have you ever ran across someone in your life that was just too sweet for this cruel world? She was.

Damnit, time is slipping away from me this morning and I must leave you for now.

We have all lost someone special so, My wish for you today is that you always feel their presence, you always remember their love, you keep their spirit alive, and you always feel hopeful.

Love to YOU Always,
S

Hey there Mayo,

There's a whole lot of receipts pinned to your door.

Pizza, pizza, clownstrippers O_O, pizza, advance cleaning services...

*squidge*

What the...?

What's with the jello on your floor Mayo.

*pokes and smells tentatively*

Lemon. Guess the cleaners haven't been through here yet.

*wanders around Mayo's bemused*

*sees and picks up a pair of clown trousers nearby*

Hmm, the clowns appear to have been value for money.

*trips over circa 1980's polaroid camera with flash*

You're getting a bit messy old fella. That's what closets are for.

*opens door to the closest room*

*backs very slowly and quietly away from room 32*

Mayo, I'm just going to go and collect myself for a moment okay. I'll be back soon.

*PP goes outside to breathe deeply on the porch for a few minutes*

Hi shame in me, party animal!

Yes, PJ I had heard about the Alabama 'father'. It's too awful to think about. And the miserable bugger is pointing the finger at crack as an excuse and out.

Kassiopeia said...

Hi PJ, PP, FASC & SIM!

I heard that story, it's so sad - we've had a couple of stories like that in the UK. One man jumped out of a Greek Island holiday appartment window with his son and daughter after an argument - the little girl survived, the boy died and now the Dad's in jail. Even worse, his mother had lost her husband and her 2 other sons to suicides.

On a lighter note, I'm pretty sure Yoda already owns every known picture of Frankie - even internal organs! Nice though...

Thanks Ergo for pointing out about the death of Sir Edmund Hillary, or Sir Ed as we called him here.

'Ed' sums up why he was our national treasure. He and Tenzing Norgay may have been first to the top of Mount Everest, but Sir Ed still retained his humble bee keeper origins.

He ignored fame except for when putting it to charitable use. His name, address and phone number was printed like anyone elses in the local telephone directory. It was this ordinariness that we adored. He would answer questions for children for their school projects if they rang, or answered the door to autograph seekers. He had no fear of people and never felt threatened. He lived a normal life.

He never forgot Nepal and returned many times helping build 30 schools, two hospitals and many medical clinics.

Sir Ed lived in the same suburb as me. I remember smiling wryly seeing this mountain of a man, conquerer of great heights, waiting for his wife in the car at the local garden centre because he was damned if he was going to get out and browse the flowers. Just an ordinary man.

New Zealand will be closed for business the day of his state funeral. His passing is a huge loss for the nation here.

Joke time!

Apologies to Blonde bloggers.

A blonde was out shopping for a tv.

"I'd like that one please" she said to the shop assistant.

"I'm sorry," he replied. "We don't sell to blondes."

So she went to the hairdressers and had her hair dyed red.

The next day she came back to the shop and said "I'd like to buy that tv please." And the shop assistant replied, "I'm sorry we don't sell to blondes"

Confused and annoyed she went back to the hairdressers. She returned to the electronics and appliances shop as a brunette and said "I would like to by that tv please." The shop assistant sighed and said "I'm sorry, we don't sell to blondes."

"Look here", she screamed. "I don't know how you keep telling that I'm a blonde, but why the f#@* won't you sell me that TV!?!?"

"Because," the shop assistant said calmly, "it's a microwave."

MISERY AND SPLENDOR

Summoned by conscious recollection, she
would be smiling, they might be in a kitchen talking,
before or after dinner. But they are in this other room,
The window has many small panes, and they are on a couch
embracing. He holds her as tightly
as he can, she buries herself in his body.
Morning, maybe it is evening, light
is flowing through the room. Outside,
the day is slowly succeeded by night,
succeeded by day. The process wobbles wildly
and accelerates: weeks, months, years. The light in the
room
does not change, so it is plain what is happening.
They are trying to become one creature,
and something will not have it. They are tender
with each other, afraid
their brief, sharp cries will reconcile them to the moment
when they fall away again. So they rub against each other,
their mouths dry, then wet, then dry.
They feel themselves at the center of a powerful
and baffled will. They feel
they are an almost animal
washed up on the shore of a world--
or huddled up against the gate of a garden--
to which they can't admit they can never be admitted.

Hello errbody.

Hello Anonymous Poem Poster......

How is everybody today?

Good I hope. I'm just ready for five o'clock!!!!

Anonymous said...

Oh, almost forgot......

SIM, those pics of Frank were awesome. I know I've said it a gazilion times but pictures like that of him just make me want to play guitar so bad!

Kind of like a boxing match. Frank looks like any bit of aggression or anger he might have gets left right there on that stage. He puts his whole heart and soul in his performance and then when he's done for the night, that's where it stays. I need an outlet like that.

Frank, you wouldn't give lessons would you?????

Yep, PP.

You know there is nothing fake about Frank. Nothing. Everything about him is real. There aren't many guitar players that just catch my attention like he does. I love Ray as well but Frank is just the punk rock kid that might just throw something at you or jump down in the crowd or play while rolling all over the stage, you just never know.
Not only is he a talented guitar player, he's just talented all the way around. Business-minded, people person and he has a pure heart.....but, then there's Leathermouth. The angry side and he's still unbelievable.

Can you tell I like him just a little bit? Maybe just a little.

I'm wavering between horrified at this and/or morbidly interested.

We had Noel Crombie in Split Enz, maraccafie their music and he occasionally indulged himself with the spoons, but not to a passionate existential level.

Hello everyone. Hey, Fim, you gave us a worry last night. I'm real sorry you're still hurting for home. I wanna find some songs to send you. ^_^

Anon @ 9:34 - That's uhh, yeah. Very sappy. One might even call it glurgey. And it's a sentiment that I hope to never understand. Why would anyone want to be so close to, so taken with someone else that they're trying to merge? No, I get that it's not literal, but even figuratively--metaphorically--that just takes everything out of a relationship. Any kind of relationship. That whole "twin soul" / "we are one? thing just give me shivers in the worst possible way. Who the hell would want to meld into a different creature. Wouldn't that be rather like being alone?

And let's not even get into the "emotional dependencies" and "inadequacies" issue, 'cause that's a whole 'nother scene.

I liked the poem that Mayo posted better.

And here's me, having been voted off the island at work. The painkillers weren't kicking in and then to top it off, I caught the evil and vile flu from my boss. I have a wicked fever and they collectively told me to go be miserable somewhere else--like perhaps in the car on the way home--rather than "share the love." Bastards.

And here I am. I'm going to scrub the tub, take a bath, and drink tea. (Drink it. Not eat it, this time. ^_^ )

And lose money. Yeah, that too.
