Independent Endeavor

This is overdue. Please forgive me as I have been preoccupied with family. I had meant to post this earlier, in time with all of your moments of introspection, during "this is me". I think it is in good timing, as it seems a distraction could be in order...

I am a contradiction.

I am a planner, I plan everything. But, I have also been known to make snap decisions.

I am an idealist.
I am a realist.

I research the hell out of everything, but I am always changing my mind.
I am a workaholic, but can very easily sleep in too late...I have insomnia so the appeal of my dreams can be somewhat overwhelming.

I am a good listener, but I tend to talk over people (I am really working on that one).
I fear rejection on every level, but I am always drawing attention to myself.
I fear failure, but I am not afraid to try new things, and this constant change in scenery allows me to masquerade achievement.

I think I am always right, but I acknowledge that I make mistakes.
I am very independent and a control freak…I like to do things my way, myself. Yet, I am high maintenance and a bit of a scatter brain…therefore I require someone to look after me.

I have diagnosed clinical depression, but I can be the life of the party.

I have outrageously high standards for myself, but I am generous in allowing others to fault.
I am very loyal, but I have been known to wander off towards a novel stimulus like a moth to a flame.

I am empathetic.
I am selfish.
I am stubborn.
I crave change.

I have enjoyed kissing both women and men, but prefer women.

I am shy.
I am eccentric.
I am erratic.

I work hard, and I am passionate. I love life, my friends, and my family. I am always expressing myself

...even in silence.

I love you too.

Hello hello siobhan, Miss T, Elena. How are you?
Siobhan, I'm doing okay, still a bit sick though. Contemplating on whether or not I could go to thanksgiving dinner at my brother's tomorrow.

Great lists L and J.

J, does your tab love affair include the evilness in a can that is Pink Tab?

Siobhan, bring that camera, girl, we'll give you a show to remember.

SDock, we love you too, honey.

Mayo, are you hearing this? Do you think it'll bring SS back to the fold? You guys come play with us!

Do you think Mayo would like to tell us about the enjoyable man kiss? - What, where the hell did that come from? I need a cigarette, brb. ;)

Good evening Mayo.
Good evening all.

Thankyou for the post Mayo.

Does it scare you how similar you are to the people here.
Or do you find it oddly comforting?

Perhaps that is why you return.
Perhaps I am talking out of my arse.

So, we digest and discuss and dissect.
It looks like your little distraction is working.

I will say this though about your little on stage ' request '. At least you heeded my warning about not pulling your diva shit on English soil.

Sensible move.

Yes, PP, Tab is in the Pink Can. But I don't go for the energy drink, just the wonder that is the diet soda.

And thank Heaven for you, Elena, that you love it too. I always feel so...shunned when I talk about it. There's a website called, I think, ilovetab.com, that tells you where they sell it. I kid you not.

L calls it my "battery acid". So that's what I call her coffee. :P

Good morning everyone!!
(i wont go through names you know I mean all of you!!)

Well I maust say Muse for fucking AWESOME!!!
I will give a brief overview and maybe blog a longer story later for anyone interested.

The venue is outdoors by the river. A stage is fronted by ablot 500m of sloped grassy hill so being able to see wasn't as big a problem. Thopugh of course tall people always get a bit in the way.
I was maybe 40m from the stage and sat with some lovely girls who'd travelled up from their uni.
the support band was The Check and as I suspect most people didn't know them and took a bit to warm up were pretty good. The lead singer reminiscent of Mick Jagger?Robert Plant in style, music rock with a hint of 60's psychadelia somehow. They played from 7 pm.
At 8 pmMuse came on began with Take a Bow and then played almost solid for 1 3/4 hrs counting encore. Virtually no break in teh music as Matt just randomly plays between songs.
Crowd went off for the hits of course and I must say they are a band that sounds like their CD's and better live.
Light show was brilliant. All of them worked so hard and theit keyboard/synth operator should be congratulated.
Though 2 kookaburras (birds) sat on the roof and slept through the whole thing ! Can't please everybody I suppose. lol

You know, GS, I almost went to that Belfast show. When I tried to get standing room tickets for the London show but they were sold out, there was a brief moment when I looked into attending the concert in Belfast (standing tickets were still available). I would have burst a blood vessel if I'd had to witness that appalling spectacle live. He out Jimmy-ed Jimmy. Well done GW, you ass.

Funny visual - Gerard making his first Thanksgiving dinner in his new home. So he's wearing an apron. What would it say?

I don't know if all of you were here for my question I asked about which genre would and would not be here in ten years, but I chose MUSE to represent the type of rock I think will be around.

I don't know what it is about them, and I know some people despise the band, but to me, they are really, really rock.

Like, as close as you can get to pure rock with no added flavors. Just rock.

I could go on, but I'll stop.

By the way, I'm thinking of choosing Cute Is What We Aim For as the band representing the genre that won't be around.

Any objections? ;)

their music is varied and tecnically complex and Matt's voice is amazing (and actually seeing him sing "oh baby can you hear me moan" is ooooooh *mufasa shiver from Lion King*)

Ut's like all of a sudden they have to be married, have a house, have kids--Heaven forbid if that happens in THAT union--basically they see their lives oozing away. They panic. Had a friend who did that very thing, and he was a nut job for a long time. It's like their life will end if they can't "fit in to society".

i've wondered why i'm not as angry with gerard as all of you are, and i think it's because the message that always meant more to me was the one about creative expression, so i don't feel betrayed by the association with msi or any of that stuff.

granted, the comments from the belfast concert were a bit too expressive, to put it delicately, but these days i just see him struggling to figure out who he is at this new stage of his life, a process which has been massively complicated by this tour and the success from it. so he's going to do and say some regrettable things.

by the end of prorev i was very concerned about his erratic behavior, but i don't know, i think he seems to have stabilized a bit since then. i don't feel as worried.

i don't mean to be a pollyanna, just wanted to get a different opinion out here on the blog, for balance. :)

gnothi seauton said...

Toujours,

Your opinion is always valid :)

I don't have a problem with any of the MSI drama.

The Belfast show was too hypocritical for words in my book.

If he is trying to find himself in this new life of his I think he needs to make a conscious effort to watch how he is portraying himself.

He was always adamant that they had a responsibility to their fans and then he talks to them like this.

I don't understand it.

it's part of what we like about him, right? that hint of chaos? he just went over the line at belfast. it doesn't make it alright, but it doesn't make it a heinous crime, either, in my book. just extremely winceable. >.<

i think we'll see him gain a greater sense of self-control as time goes on. it's just, you know, a process. that's how i see it.

RW, it was really nice. The beds in the room were twins but they were really comfortable. We had a tray filled every day in our room with teas, coffees, cookies, etc.

Chez Gerard was good! We had the buffet each day. I got hooked on their sausages, which are much better than what we have here and grilled tomatoes.

We ate at another Italian place, in Wales, called Bella Italiana. There was one in the West End too.

Did you check out the pics I uploaded? I had to have one of the Burger King sign!

Love,
L.

Salut ergoproxy. Thanks, it makes me feel so happy when I go on a new site and people remember me. I'm fine, yourself?

That's west of Brisbane, I am in the north suburbs, you may have heard of Chermside, which is close to here and better known than Stafford.

Are you in Queensland too, EP?? My sister & family lived in Indooroopilly when they first moved to Australia.

You do not know who James Marsters is?

*looks indignantly the other direction*

I do I do...
I have the "Ghost of the Robot" CD too.

What have you all been up too?

I'm fine too, alive!

Elena, James Marsters plays 'Spike' in 'Buffy, the vampire slayer'! The TV series not the movie.

RW,

Yes, I kept a menu from there and the back lists 9 different London locations and one each at Heathrow and Gatwick.

Do you remember where you saw it?

oh wow RW yep I live in north Qld but have flown to Brisbane for 10 days. I grew up here but moved in "89 for a teaching post and never came back!

I went to Qld uni and had heaps of friends who lived at Indooroopilly, through Uni and the Uniting church there.
Spent a lot of time in that area.lol
When did they move over?

ergoproxy said...

I got you now, Elena. You wanted to know who met James and not who he is. Sorry, it's already 2 am here in good old Germany. My brain demands sleep!

Original Punk J said...

GS, RW,

We were over on Shaftesbury to see a play, so I think, maybe it was the one either on Charlotte Street or Dover Street in Mayfair. There is one in Covent Garden too. Anyone from London know where this one would be?

And I know RW, you should have seen the people in BK looking at me while I got out the camera. :)

GS, the one we saw was different than the one in L & J's pic, yes? The sign doesn't look the same to me.

They moved in the fall of 2003. My brother-in-law has duel Canadian/Australian citizenship.

Siobhan, no prob. I know I'm kinda random sometimes when I speak.

ALIVE! said...

The pillow man....A little bit gruesome. It's about a writer who basically is trying to have people remember him after he dies. He doesn't want all his work to be a waste. I can't really say anything more because it might get some people angry. You should check it out, it's pretty new. Just prep yourself for one of the most ........disgusting(?) playus you've ever seen. But once you get past that, it's actually quite light and funny. The message is very uplifting

RW -awesome

so can anyone confirm that MCR covered Your own disaster by TBS?

I have it on a cd from Malaysia, it's like a compilation and it's the last song on it

Your Own Disaster:
It sounds great and it's pretty much just guitar, keyboard and very mellow.
I had never heard of it until this morning when i was given the CD. It'a mix of songs fom all albums + KAYF and MWHITY
I don't know if it was a release there or it's pirated (well it is pirated but I don't know if it's a pirated release or a made up thing)
