In the future where directions more difficult than it seemed.

This may be exactly what was planned. Perhaps this is not only an excuse for the outing, but also for the silence. Just so that you are aware…lately, I have had a little of both. The ceramic virgins for sale on every corner only served to remind me of lessons long forgotten. I am glad to have put those exhortations on a low shelf. I need them.

Now, as to the beginning…what remains has lapsed. It was paramount to have engaged the deafening torment and to have witnessed the others holding their ground. Abiding by the instruction of those memories, reverence is delivered upon me; a priceless gift. Creation marked by every tone; aspiration, resignation, legitimacy...it is all there.

Words, big and small, are never unimportant when they are gifts of thought and time.

p.s. sharp corners are the best place to post the desired effect.

Blah blah blah I am in Mexico, we get it.

Thanks for the new blog, the old one was getting crowded. But if it was your intention to shut down the very interesting conversations we've been having there tonight, forget it, kid.

^They do Magic Pie. I feel like whoever Mayo is, they've been listening to our concerns and they haven't fallen on deaf ears as we previously thought they would. That kind of lets me breathe a sigh of relief. Please continue to listen Mayo. For god's sake, please continue.

Exactly Kapunua

Hey mayo: did you see her letter!!
Another exhortation. Keeping it on a low shelf - so you don't have to look at every time you pass?

Anonymous said...

I agree with soulconnector.

Merci, amour! That's going to mean a lot to a lot of people, no matter who you are.

An epiphany perhaps?

I hate to see negativity here already when this seems like just a hopeful post...

Mayo, I need to go re-read. Way to go with the timing.

Anonymous said...

I think he is listening and reading - but it does not seem paramount to do anything about it at this time. Sounds like he knows what people are saying are true; he thinks he knows how to change it but he is not interested in doing anything about right now (keep it on the low shelf).
Scarlet O'Hara!!!
Just my opinion

just in case some people don't know what the word means:

exhortation - a communication intended to urge or persuade the recipients to take some action
communicating, communication - the activity of communicating; the activity of conveying information

I know sometimes Mayo can get a bit confusing so I figured I'd help a little.

My thoughts exactly.

Goodnight everyone.

As far as you take me, that's where I believe
The realm of soft delusions, floating on the leaves
On a distant shoreline, she waves her arms to me
As all the thought police, are closing in for sleep
The dilly dally, of my bright lit stay
The steam of my misfortunes
Has given me the power to be afraid
And in my mind I'm everyone
And in my mind
Without a care in this whole world
Without a care in this life
It's what you take that makes it right

Yeah? What if you go back on them, then what? Or what if they never meant anything in the first place? If that's a gift, sorry, but I got better ones from the fake Santa at the mall in 1980.

I'm looking at you, Gerard Way, and all of your former preaching.

"Among many other things about being against racism, sexism, homophobia and violence, Gerard once said this about music lyrics: "Unlike a good part of the artists, I think we have a very big responsibility, when it comes to the kids who listen to our music. Usually, people like to take refuge and say that all the responsibility, when it comes to raising kids, is up to the parents: honestly! When I was a kid, I didn’t listen to my father! The words that meant something to me were the ones from Billy Corgan and Glen Danzig."

We realize that in the past, during festivals etc., you members of My Chemical Romance often did not get to choose who who shared the stage with. Many of us are now wondering why you've all chosen to take a band like Mindless Self Indulgence on tour with you and expose your audience--young, old, women, minorites, homosexuals--to lyrics like the ones in their songs. A My Chemical Romance concert used to be a place you could go and be sure that the band would not purposely choose an opening act which degraded those women and minorities. A My Chemical Romance show used to be a place that women could go and not be referred to as a "bitch" or a "ho" or sit through lyrics that imply we should all "get on our knees." Where an African American fan didn't have to be subjected to the N word from the chosen opening act. (It doesn't matter if you end it in "er" or "A." It's a derogatory term meant to incite certain feelings.)

WE DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL LIVES. We also agree that, regardless of Gerard's former stance on "responsibility" in lyrics, music should NOT be censored, and that there is a place for all music, however much we may disagree with what they say and represent. All we want is for you to know that many of your fans are not blind, and have not missed this inexplicable change in what you all stood for. Asking your European audience to sit through an MSI set (please don't be insulting and say that they can just leave, give up their place in the pit and come back later,) is a slap in the face to those of us who originally came aboard because of your anti-sexist/racist/homophobic/violent message. Even if those fans did give up their place in the pit to come back after the MSI set, they are still giving their money to a band whose lyrics are degrading to those groups.

You at least owe us a reason, a REAL reason why the feminists and anti-racists among us, who were brought in by your original message, should have to support a band like Mindless Self Indulgence in order to see any of your European shows. We realize that at this point it's a possibility that you don't care; after all the shows are probably already sold out; you guys have made yor money and your mostly young audience will, in fact, sit through songs like "Five Year Old Panty Shot" just to get a chance to watch you guys perform. We just want to know why you have chosen to publicly embrace all of the things you used to very vocally stand against.

And a personal note to the band Mindless Self Indulgence from the original writer of this message, a feminist as well as a human rights activist: KEEP YOUR MOUTH OFF OF MY SISTERS. Whether we are "five years old" or one hundred and five, or anything before, after or in between, we do not deserve to be treated this badly through your lyrics. It's almost 2008. Women and minorities are actually regarded as human beings these days.

MCR: thank you for hearing out some of your fans, if you still do.

I doubt they will read it, but I don't know where else to put it. I posted something like this on the mychemicalromance.com forum and the thread got locked. Yet another fan told me not to even bother putting it on INO because they ban your ass forever when you do things like that. I doubt it would even get past the mods at the chemicalromance LJ community, and even if it did, I can only imagine how many freaking fangirls I'd have spamming my Livejournal forever and a day after.

I'll go ahead and put this letter out there. If anyone else agrees, do like Verita always says to do: Just copy, paste, make it yours and send it their way. What do you think?"

There's your low shelf.

"I think that the low shelf is not a negative thing. Having something on a low shelf is easier to reach than having something on a high shelf. What I get out of it is that he's keeping all of our messages close to him and easy to find."

True; however the low shelf for example in a grocery store is always stock with the cheepest items so that a consumer usually passes it up for the pretty expensive things at eye level.
The low shelf is for items of less importance/value.

That is how view "low shelf" statement.

I agree with the last anonymous post. He is indeed listening and reading our concerns, but he is not doing anything to change himself. Remember Mayo, you can only accept help from all corners only if you are *willing* to except it. Help cannot be taken nor received by force. I have faith that you can reach the light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing in life is entirely hopeless. You once said that in order to rise from the ashes, we have to die on the inside in order to become a new person( Is that correct? I am not sure) I hope you are not deceiving us. I still have faith in you. All of us do.

I think the "exhortations" that Mayo speaks of refer to his religious upbringing; the "long forgotten" lessons of his childhood. The low shelf means that he has not forgotten them completely; they still figure into his thoughts and he still needs them; even though I suspect he's tried to convince himself in the past that he doesn't.

If anything here refers to the comments left on this blog it is this:

Words, big and small, are never unimportant when they are gifts of thought and time.

I don't think any of our attempts at persuasion will sway him, but at least it's good to know that he appreciates the thought.

I think that Mayo posts this stuff and then gets off on people overanalyzing it and giving him credit for great depth. Amirite? Because seriously, we're talking about where stuff gets stocked at the supermarket.

Let's pretend for a second you are Gerard Way up there on that cross, huh? "I'll give you all the nails you need, Cover me in gasoline"? You bought those nails yourself wholesale and covered yourself in gasoline. Man, how's the weather up there in Calvary? I hear it's been a little emo lately.

Hope that you don't fail epically? Sure. Miss what I thought you stood for, what you said oh-so-many times that you stood for? Most definitely.

Pray for you? Hell no. Learn to take care of yourself. There's a lot to be said for not being an emotional vampire.

58 comments in under an hour? I liked it better when there were like, eight of us. Jesus. Now this dude's got to make extra posts to draw comments away from the ones he doesn't want anyone to look at in the last one. Oh, don't worry, they're gonna get drowned in the fannish randomness anyway.

By the way, there's an interesting new comment in Veritavenom's blog, under her Open Letter To Bert post. Not that it sheds any new light on anything, really. I was just surprised how plainly it was worded, given how cryptic things have become in blogs all over the place lately. Kind of a refreshing change.

Anonymous said...

I am tired of these cryptic messages as well. You either tell us what is going on, or get the hell out. Quit fucking around with the readers and the cryptic bullshit (Yes, you can tell how fed up I am)

I do happen to have Kapunua's letter posted on my blog and I have sent one through MCR's myspace. Maybe that will kickstart the attention going that way.

Not tonight because I'm too tired and off to bed soon, but would any of you mind if tomorrow I posted here some links to some really fantastic songs? I know a few of you listen to Taking Back Sunday (they seem to have been quoted and re-quoted and linked and vaguely involved throughout this whole thing,) and they've got at least one unreleased one that, well, I just think they're fully brilliant and I wanna share them. Just good plain honest music without the crap nonsense. I might just put it all in my journal and link you guys if you are interested.

Interested?

Anonymous said...

Well gee...Does anyone remember Hellfest '02 when they were asked what message they were bringing and could only respond "....a message"?? Yep. I've been here that long waiting. Come on. There really is a time to be cryptic and a time to be completely devoid of any mysticism whatsoever. Honestly. Sorry about the randomness if it's so bothersome.

I can guarantee you that there are plenty more people silently watching as this progresses and have been since the beginning, so it has never been as isolated as you think. This is in no way meant to be rude or anything. This is in no way meant to start an argument, but I felt the right to come here and speak instead of hiding behind my computer screen. You can think what you want of that. I'm not here to decipher linguistic code or resurrect the symbolism of Animal Farm. I'm not even here because of the speculations surrounding this. I'm here because I thought that it was a good, strong set of people who refused to devalue the opinions of others. Gee whiz, I'm just a kid but I can sense tension five hundred miles away, through keyboards and LAN lines. Think what you want to think. I'll appreciate it. My motivation is the honesty felt right here between these comments, but I'd be damned to back away. I love what you are, each and every one of you, as if each screen name has a story beyond their life story. It's not just about the nihilism that I'm standing on. It's about learning, and meeting people who share my love of what I've been loving forever.

Sorry.

First off, I don't intend any offense to ANYONE. But Gawd, people -- everybody take a fucking step back and *breathe* for a minute, okay? Because at the rate we're quibbling amongst ourselves, we're gonna be on par with Buzznet within a week. And most of us are here because we hated that, right?

Anons, hi. Lurkers, hi. Do keep in mind that this is an open forum, although the kickball and CSI teams have already been established. Anybody can speak their minds, but no personal attacks will be tolerated. Unless they're against Mayo, then we all laugh about it. ((JOKING!!!))

How the saga of Gerard Way will turn out? Let's just say that's scheduled for next season, and there are no previews available.

And thanks to Anon @ 12:02, we now have Gerard porn. Maybe he should change the song title from "Honey, This Mirror Ain't Big Enough For The Two Of Us" to "Honey, My Dick Is Big Enough For All Of Us"! >:)

This post from you is so very encouraging.

You're finally getting it, Mayo. The one(s) that originally started the "outing" got your attention and then purposefully stepped aside.

You needed to hear what the fans thought about all this and how they were being affected.

No one here is out to get you, or is jealous, or wants to see you fail. We care about you and only want to help you. If we have to use the tough love tactics, then so be it.

And those lessons you learned so long ago? I'm glad to see they still live in you.

Mayo,

Of course this is exactly what was planned because we all know how far in advance you plan things. Everything that has happened and happening still has been of your own doing. Forgive us if we have tried to stand in your way on your path of self destruction. Sorry if we hurt your eyes by shining a bright light on all your evils. Accept our apologies for not leaving you alone with all of your demons. Do you realize how lucky you are to have so many people throwing their time, their energy, their heart, their emotions, their souls, their thoughts into your life?

You seem as if you might have finally saw your reflection in the mirror or listened to the voices in your head. Did it scare you? Or did you like it? We're all friends here....be honest if you like the person you are right now. But I'm growing so weary of all the introspection. Could you for once make something NOT about YOU? Stop looking at yourself and look at others! Do you care about their pain at all? Do you care about their lives? Do you know what makes them happy? Do you know why they cry? Try on their shoes. Walk around and see how that feels. Are you feeling shitty that they are focusing so much of their energy on you? Oh, wait...I forgot. You like being dirty, don't you? Once you've walked around in their lives, then and only then will you be capable of really looking at yourself.

We're waiting........you can start with my size 5's if you like.

P.S. Deep, dark corners are where the truth is hidden. Have you found it yet?

Do you believe also, that he is hiding some dark secret, maybe from his childhood, that he believes he can never tell or open up about.
pj

sdock10 said...

pj,

I absolutely believe that.

But I also believe we all hide secrets like that. Some are much worse than others.

sister midnite said...

Hi Sdock10! How are things for you today?

Probably a lot of us have secrets from the past. They may be dark & nasty, but they're also a part of what makes us who we are. If life were all butterflies & happiness, Prozac (as well as all the other psychologicals) would never have been created.

Mayo, you're welcome to take a walk in my boots, too -- just make sure you give them back or I'll have to hunt you down and hurt you. And just so you know: don't be surprised to find that my balls are a lot bigger than yours are.

I know because i have lived that nightmare, i see so much in those eyes of his, he hides so much pain behind them.
I know your smart, just by the way you talk, but if i can see it, and you can see it, why hide it, opening up will be the only healing for him, you can not cover it up, its inside you, apart of you, a nightmare that is with you every time you close your eyes, only when your eyes are open can you see past it, but will still be there when you close your eyes.
I believe both brothers have this bond in common.

Love man is gone. Keep your eyes on the road has a new blog message of 'well timed silence hath more eloquance than speech' and SS has been saying 'it is important to know when to speak and when to remain silent - a word to the wise is sufficient' for ages now. SS even felt his message was important enough to leave it as a comment as well as putting it as his blog title.

Something is happening. I think we are not fully understanding what they are trying to tell us.

Why the silence? Why is everyone silent but Mayo? I have no idea who kyeotr is, but I have an idea who SS may be and that person is not a coward or afraid to speak their mind and tell it how it is.

What is it we are not getting?

Anonymous said...

I actually had a really crappy dream last night. Well, I was halfway awake and it really startled me. I don't feel like saying what it was but it had to do with all of this. My dreams have a way of being right sometimes, though.

Hang in there, G-Way.

sdock10 said...

Hey Sister Midnite,

I'd love to see Mayo wearing your best pair of kickball boots. That would be sweet.

pj,

I also agree with you about the brothers sharing this common bond.

Anonymous said...

The main difference between kyeotr and SS is that kyeotr wrote their blogs with a view to them being read, SS did not. Therefore kyeotr would have written their blogs with their audience in mind. I think that is why SS paniced and deleted his blogs because they were 'uncensored' and candid as he never thought they would be read by anyone else. I bet he was horrified when he found out we were able to retrieve a blog entry and track down his new blog address from a blog he had DELETED.

I could be completely wrong, it just makes sense to me.

Anonymous said...

What is SS's new blog address? Who is kyeotr? Why are you calling Prometheus SS?

Anonymous said...

SS is Prometheus.

I have no idea who kyeotr is.

Gerard,

The soul must hurt to heal, but the peace is worth the pain.

I am very proud of you for finding that core deep inside yourself and fighting to bring it to the surface.

Not a day has gone by since it became apparent you were hurting that I haven't included an appeal for love, mercy and strengh for you in my whispered words before crossing myself.

You have good people around you, people who love you, and I am glad you are seeing them now through clearer eyes.

All I can give you now is encouragement and love from far away but always near. Those that know you best are the ones you need to cling to and allow into your heart and soul. Sometimes it really is quite simple-

It's all about the love.

And Shitsubou Shita, you never gave up on him. Take care of him and yourself. You may have been overlooked in the great train wreck that has taken place, but that doesn't mean you didn't suffer the brusies, cuts and internal injuries that you covered up so well. You have always been included in those whispered words.

Love to you both,
Lisa

I believe if we start talking more on the subject, maybe he will feel he is not alone with this problem, that we understand and support him, maybe in some small way we can bring it to light, he can not hide behind everyone else forever, he will break if he keeps it to himself.

Hello Gerard!

What a wonderful post you put up yesterday. It was infused with a calm that the others haven't had. Coming to terms with a personal trauma will usually bring you closer to your faith. Same thing happened to me six years ago when I nearly died from pneumonia. It feels like a second chance, doesn't it? A cleansing, if you will.

Keep your head up, your mind focused, and your heart hopeful. Keep your loved ones close to you. Remember there are people everywhere who are with you in spirit. We will not abandon you.

This summer has been a fiasco, but it's autumn now, time to start over. But...don't forget your mistakes, learn from them and try not to repeat them.

As for the negative people, the gloom-and-doomers, the skeptics, the spewers: Never Mind the Bollocks.

I love you, G.

Shitsubou, baby, you're probably too busy to respond to this, but that's ok. I understand. I have a feeling you're cross-eyed by now, but not the way you might want to be! Know that I'm thinking about you and sending prayers your way. And if you feel like gettin' cross-eyed, the offer's still open.

Love you, sweet thing.

SS has the same blog title. What the hell are you talking about Anon @ 1:14 PM?

Pixie said...

about that ;) :

"Magnus Frater te spectat. Facta non verba. Unaquaeque optio exitum habet - sed omnis."

=> Big Brother is watching you. Deeds, not words. Every choice has consequences - sed omnis (????)

Anonymous said...

Nope. SS's title is different. I don't know how to translate it though. Anyone else able to ?

Anonymous said...

sed omnis was the phrase he used at the end of 'the show must go on, not for you, not for me, but for everyone/all of us'

sed omnis can mean either 'all of us' or 'everyone'.

Pixie said...

ahhh that makes sense :) thank you :)

Thank you lonely one.

I'd just like to bring up the whole double-b thing in Mayo's blogs. When he did it twice, I wondered why. There were double-b's and double-s's. The only reason I though he may be using double-b's was to refer to something. The only conclusions I could draw was to Bob Bryar and to Big Brother, as in always having eyes on you, as in George Orwell's 1984 novel. Maybe I was a little bit correct in SS's eyes?

Anonymous said...

I make it: Big brother is watching. Actions speak louder than words. Every choice has a consequence - for all of us.

Anonymous said...

anon2007, I think you have hit the nail on the head! Mayo has left clues to BB and BS. It's so obvious now.. Brian Schechter!

He is the 'Big Brother' that is watching. Would explain why everyone is suddenly so silent.

Pixie said...

hihi yeah fits with my translation also I didn´t really know how to translate sed omnis... :)

and anon2007 jep, maybe you weren´t far away the path with big brother ... :) but who know´s for sure *laugh*

As soon as i translated and saw Big brother, i thought of the person that brougt up the double bs being big brother. So yeah, maybe?

Big Brother may be Reprise.

Anonymous said...

^To further state from up there:

Mayo had the "Rabbbit" blog and the "It is in the bend that we find the blight" blog.

This is what I posted:

Well. Let's think this out.
The only significance I find of the double b's are as follows:

1. Bob Bryar- What this would have to do with him is beyond me, but you never know.

2.Big Brother- no, not the television show. More like George Orwell's 1984. More like watching over something. More like controlling.

Come on guys. What, if anything, does this mean?

October 5, 2007 10:22 PM

^Anon:
That's a very good thought about Reprise. Makes me wonder if Mayo knew they were watching.

Anonymous said...

If anyone would put their foot down about Gerard's shit it would be Brian. If he has been monitoring these blogs it would explain why other bloggers have 'disappeared'. For all we know, the band members may have always referred to Brian as big brother. I don't know whether SS is trying to explain to us why he is so silent (there is a time to speak and a time to be silent) or if he is trying to warn Mayo.

Anonymous said...

^I think the first time with his first caption may have been SS telling us, but now with this one, he may be warning Mayo.

Anonymous said...

It's the 'actions speak louder than words' part that intrigues me.

If Brian is involved, he may have challenged Gerard on his recent antics or had some sort of band intervention. Gerard may have 'fessed up, been remorseful and promised to turn over a new leaf and clean up his act. Maybe SS is not convinced. He may have heard it all before so wants to see actions, not words.

Pixie said...

that could be possible, because a person can tells a lot, just so that the others are keep quiet and shut up, so that they leave him alone...

what he´s doing in the end is then another story...

Anonymous said...

^ OR..maybe SS is referring to the tone of Mayo's latest blog. We have all been saying how it sounds as if he is beginning to see the light/made some kind of breakthrough etc. But let's face facts, Mayo can SAY all the reassuring words he likes, it's the ACTIONS he takes that count.

Anonymous said...

^Oh Anon with the whole "tone of the blog" hypothesis. I like that one. That one seems more logical.

Anonymous said...

I do believe he has to some degree, but with out the other brother to support him, he is still alone with it.
When there are two people in the same house, going threw the same thing, and both knows the other knows, it dose not mean they talk about to each other, some things are just not talked about and i believe now that one wants to talk and the other dose not, has caused some problems between them.
It can break a part even the closest of brothers, when one is in pain and one wants to let the pain go.

((If Brian is involved, he may have challenged Gerard on his recent antics or had some sort of band intervention. Gerard may have 'fessed up, been remorseful and promised to turn over a new leaf and clean up his act.))

I think there has been a band/Brian intervention. I also think Gerard having been through it all before has said 'all the right things' to get them off his back. The timing makes sense, he has a couple of weeks off to sort himself out, or at least start to before they go on tour again.

As promised: Some music from my homeboys, Taking Back Sunday. I spent a lot of time uploading and/or finding these, so you'd best listen. ^_^ And G-Way, you think that you're too cool for school, but I have a newsflash for you Walter Cronkite... you aren't. Listen to your friend Adam Lazzara. He's a cool dude. /Zoolander

Spin
"Open arms reject assuming hands...." True story. The lyrics have him saying at the end, "Spin, spin sugar!" I don't hear that, but big huge HURRAY to these guys for shouting out one of the coolest techno-rave dance songs ever; it's by the Sneaker Pimps. I love that song and I have it on my iPod. It's enough for me that he's just screaming "SPIN! SPIN! SPIN!" in the background throughout the end. Oh, and quite possibly? This song has the best (read: HOTTEST) tag ending I've ever heard. Tell me I'm wrong. DAYAM, boy.

Cute Without The E
I know everyone knows this song, but still. Gotta be one of my favorite opening lines ever. "Your lipstick, his collar, don't bother, angel; I know exactly what goes on." This band totally has a way with words. Favorite part? "You're such a sucker for a sweet talker," (but I love John Nolan in the background with his disgusted, "You're such a sucker!")

New American Classic
One of their slower ones, but I like their ballady stuff as well as their hardcore stuff. For all you over 30's, this is a little reminiscent of Collective Soul (a few of their songs are, one in a while.) In the context of these Blog Wars, for some odd reason this song makes me think of Frank Iero every single time.

Ooh, another ballady one, Divine Intervention
I love this one, but more than that, it has good memories. My goddaughter fell in love with this song as we were driving to Projekt Revolution on August 15th in Jones Beach. She insisted on playing it as we were driving into the venue parking lot, "for good luck." It must have worked, because immediately upon coming out of the bathroom after entering, we saw Taking Back Sunday go by on a golf cart and we waved to them. Then we followed them and ended up by the buses, where one Frank Iero was hanging around. We said hi to him, and then later that night we got to talk to him for a while and he was absolutely lovely to us. My goddaughter was so thrilled. We listened to this song as we were pulling away that night after our conversation with Frank, her clutching her autographed ticket, me with a short letter from him (long story.) But the funniest part of this whole thing is that when Adam sings the line, "something real, make it timeless," she thought he was saying, "Make it TONGUE-LOVE" and got all scandalized. Good times.

I saved the best two for last.

The Ballad of Sal Villanueva
"You've got your high as a kite tricks in the bag..." This one is one of my favorites by them, and as far as I know it's an unreleased, or a B side or something. It's complicated and beautiful and angry and sad, self-deprecating and snarky all mixed in. "Hope that when he leave you still smell him on your sheets, cause I can, I can..." and "You'd say 'we're only friends', yeah, real good friends, I bet, I bet" are some of the most brutal How could you! lyrics ever. Okay, so anyone who knows anything about music, clue me in, because I don't know how to put this into musical words. Check out this one chord, or note, or sound they keep repeating during each part that goes "you're down for selling me out while I play dumb..." It comes right during the words, "while I'm..." (2:29-21, 2:42-44, and especially 3:03-3.) I know, how random could I get, right? But that one chord reminds me of every 1950's heartbreak song I've ever heard. Why? BTW, yes, I get obsessed with sounds.

My favorite ever,
My Blue Heaven:
I won't lie, this song still makes me cry nearly everytime. I pretty much have to listen to it by myself. From around 2:35-ish till pretty much the end, really. The arrangement, the strings, the drums, the lyrics, everything. I absolutely can't put my finger on why, but when Adam Lazzara sings "you're safe, child, you are safe," I utterly believe it. My favorite part is "more than anything you wanted to be right" and I don't know exactly why.

So there you go, some of my favorites from Taking Back Sunday. If you ever get the chance, see them live, because they're not only fantastic, but they're also kind of hilarious. I've been to a lot of shows and I've never seen any band with less pretense on stage. They chit-chat and mix it up, talk to each other, goof around, Adam speaks conversationally to the audience instead of screaming at you, and it's hella fun to watch him swing the mic all over the place.

TBS will never fall off the pedestal, you know why? Because they never put themselves up on one. There is no pedestal. There's just the music.

Anonymous said...

To the Anon that said this:

anon2007, I think you have hit the nail on the head! Mayo has left clues to BB and BS. It's so obvious now.. Brian Schechter!

I wouldn't jump to conclusions on the BB and BS references. That was only the first thing that popped into my mind. That in no way means the "BS" refers to Brian Schechter.

And to everyone else, so we don't get all riled up, I would hold off on making such grand assumptions. There's no telling who this Big Brother is that SS refers to. It COULD be Reprise, it COULD be Brian. There's no way to know for sure. So, carry on! :)

Anonymous said...

Thank you anon2007. Actions speak louder than words. It's almost like a rebuke/challenge to Mayo isn't it?

On another tangent, 'every choice has consequences - for all of us' I'm thinking SS could be potentially concerned about the future of the band. Like the decisions Gerard makes will affect all of their careers, which really is unfair. It's kind of like emotional blackmail, but it's true nonetheless and it's definitely something Gerard should think about. Maybe he wants Gerard to think about that next time he contemplates his next 'indulgence' or 'binge.'

Anonymous said...

Good afternoon/morning/evening everyone. Before I say anything, Sdock10, I appreciate your support and encouragement on my personal blog. Thank you so much! *Hugs* to you :) and thank you for posting that long comment of yours. It makes a hell of a lot of sense.
Big Brother is watching? It is either Brian or Reprise themselves...

Let the CSI: New Jersey team...begin! :D

I agree with the last anonymous posts. Every choice you make has consequences, and it is up to the person whether or not they want to take any responsibility for themselves. Actions speak louder than words. Gerard's own may disrupt the band's future and that makes me angry. Selfishness on his part no?

Anonymous said...

No. You're most definitely right.

I seriously just play that one part over and over again sometimes.

I wonder why he's gasping?

I totally agree with you here Kapunua. They've not made themselves into something they aren't. I'm not saying that the whole of MCR had done that, just one of them. There is just music with Taking Back Sunday. That's what's important. There aren't any crazy rumors swirling around (although from what Fred said in his press release, I could see some stemming from it). There's no screaming, "Oh my god! Hopefully, he and LynZ will have a good life together. If/when there is a priceless gift of creation expected, I hope all goes well for the mother and baby.

anon @1:58 Thank you :)

I agree, but I'm still waiting for anyone else in the band to come forward and offer us some clarification.

There is just music with Taking Back Sunday. That's what's important. There aren't any crazy rumors swirling around (although from what Fred said in his press release, I could see some stemming from it).

O_O Wha'd he say? It's weird, because he's opening for MCR in Maine, right?

There's no screaming, "Oh my god! Adam Lazzara will you impregnate me?!"

Which mystifies me, honeslty. ;D

They're just down to earth guys with music on the brain. I really, really respect them for that. Thank you for sharing with us.

Exactly, Kapunua. Gerard should take a lesson from that. Not every fan enjoys seeing him fuck up on stage. I sure as hell do not. I come to see the band perform and nothing else, not see his stupid antics on stage. It does not impress me.

But I agree, I think we should contribute more into helping the environment. Global warming scares the hell out of me.

Kapunua:

You know how Fred said a while back that he would be doing The Color Fred (awesome band name I must add) WHILE also being guitarist for TBS? He stated it multiple times, so when I heard the news he LEFT, I was in shock. The MTV News interview they did with him stated that Fred left because the rest of the guys were going in a different direction musically than where he wanted to go. He had written over 40 songs for the band and he said they all got turned down.

Here's the link and copy and paste it all:

I can just see rumors swirling about what they rest of the band did to Fred and whatnot. That doesn't mean they did anything to him. Maybe he was just at another point in his life.

I wholeheatredly agree Anon. People are only making the situation much worse if they do not discuss about it or turn the blind eye and pretend that everything is okay. It causes the problem to only increase if you keep quiet or in denial.

Perhaps 'actions speak louder than words' and 'every choice has consequences' may not be referring to drugs/alcohol but rather to the decision to take MSI on tour.

Unlike Gerard, I feel sure the guys are not thrilled with this decision. Compromising their values and integrity to comply with a carefully orchestrated PR excercise is not something they are comfortable with and is not something they would ever elect to do if they were given the choice.

I hope that the discerning will understand and forgive.

it doesn't matter if bob's an alcoholic or not he was drunk onstage doing the same thing gerard used to get shit for. in my opinion you don't do that kind of shit to a friend that's trying to stay clean. it just makes it that much harder.
