Today on my way home from class, I stopped off at the petrol station for some petrol. I paid on my card which wasn’t a lot, and then as I was getting into my car, I saw an old man walking past the building. He had a red and green stripy jumper which was frayed at the ends. He was also wearing some jeans that were dirty and had holes all over.
I sat there and became intrigued by him because I didn’t know what he was doing, so as I sat there and watched him, he continued doing what he set out to do.
He walked past the trash cans and first picked out a cup with some drink still in it (one of the cups that you get from burger king that has coke in it). He then walked over to the next trash can and pulled out the end of a half eaten sandwich. In my shock horror, he ate it and then went to sit on the wall to drink the drink he had found.
I felt sad, I wanted to give him my last $4 that I had but I was told when I was younger that you should never give people money, you should give them something they need or can use because that way, if they had an addiction, they would not be able to use the money for their addiction. So I went into the shop and bought a chicken sandwich from their deli counter and then walked out of the building.
The guy was still sat at the wall drinking his drink so I walked up to him and asked him if he would like this sandwich. He thanked me and said that he was hungry.
I should of felt good after that, doing something for someone else but all I could think of is where his next meal will come from or where in fact he will sleep tonight.

Don't let anyone tell you how to live your life. Hold your head up high and be proud of who you are. If you've had a shitty day and you feel like people just don't want you to be happy, and when you find yourself struggling to make it through the day, just keep on believing and keep the faith. Also, from personal experience, don't push people away. When they say they want to help and that they are there for you, let them in. Believe me, I know how fucking scary that thought is, but don't shut others out.

I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I have made small mistakes and really big, fucking scary mistakes. Would I change those mistakes and blunders?
No. Wanna know why?
Because they make me - me. They help make up the person that I am, what I've learned the hard way. Hopefully I've learned from my mistakes and have become a better person for it. And, hopefully I don't repeat those same mistakes. Although, sometimes I repeat variations of certain ones, but I'm working on that. :)

Electric Blue
…today I saw a ulysses butterfly it was in our yard and settled to feed on our hibiscus. They really are fantastically beautiful things, the electric blue is amazing, however as they sit with their wings closed they are rather nondescript and dull. Sometimes people are like that, from the outside they seem unappealing but within there hides an amazing beauty for those lucky enough to see it. I hope you appreciate beauty in all things, and look for it perhaps where others miss it.

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.
I read your post again and suddenly without warning memories of construction paper filled my head. I remembered all the lop-sided flowers my girls made when they were young. Bright blue, yellow and pink flowers that were cut out with blunt end scissors would fill the windows to decorate for Easter. An occasional bunny was attempted but those usually ended up looking like creatures from a horror movie. Flowers were so much easier. I can close my eyes and hear the paper being cut into petals. I can smell the Elmer’s glue squirted on in huge blobs to attach each misshapen petal to form the flowers. We had a huge arts and crafts box full of wonderful items just waiting for their imaginations to turn into something wonderful. In my mind I see my daughters, as they once were, small, blond little girls sitting on the floor surrounded by scraps of paper and other art supplies. They would create their masterpieces then proudly show each other. Oh and Lord the messes that would ensue if the glitter made an appearance. Now, the box is forgotten. I’m not really sure where it even is anymore. The few flowers so lovingly created that survived are faded and dusty and high on a shelf they sit. Time marches on, so many things get left behind.

Of course I understand that my daughters are growing up and have lives of their own. But understanding doesn’t make it any easier to accept. I miss my little girls in their frilly Easter dresses. The Refs have been firm on piledrivers, and fair enough, but Warburton was in a crouched position when he picked Clerc up, who was then dumped on the ground shoulders first, not head first. The Frenchman's feet going up in the air just made it look worse. And then he milked it while his team mates whined in the Refs ear. It should have been a yellow card. Never a red.
It would have been an intirely different game, decisively won by the Welsh. And just saying, but the Welsh number 12 should have been given Player of the Match for his double duty!
Whoever of us wins the semi-final tomorrow will have it easily over the French in the final.

Elena, I have a question, an honest one I'm wondering if you'd be so good as to answer.
In your Mary Sue stories, your main character is having an affair with Gerard, who is in a miserable, bad relationship. Your stories were written when he was first getting with Lynz and the stories about them were circulating. Up to when they got married and even then you still wrote about you and Gerard having sex.
My actual question is did you really believe that he was miserable with her at the time? And in your stories, in your heart of hearts, that this "perfect" version of yourself that you created could save him from her, if given the chance?
What I want to know is how on god's earth did the woman justify putting her daughter into one of her fics, and hooking him up with Bob. I didn't read the whole fic, just skimmed it, but since "Monica" was banging the shit out of Gerard, did she have her daughter banging Bob too? Or was that a more pristine relationship?

Dumbass, ELENA is not named Elena. And Mary Sues generally have a different name to the "author" of the fic. Something considered sexy to the author.
Mary Sue often has special powers (umm contacting the ghost of Gerard's dead grandmother in this case) which often lead to the male character wanting to pork her. I can really see Gerard wanting to pork someone who was talking to his grandmother.
Mary Sues often tragically sacrifice themselves only to be resurrected in sequels (didn't "Monica" sacrifice herself to give birth to Gerard's baby, because his grandmother told her to?)
Mary Sues often exist to 'save" the male character from the evil, female, CANON character (or in this case since it's RPF, the real life-wife of the man.)
Also, the Mary Sues character is often the main focus of the story, which goes against canon. Or, in RPF, the original character (the Mary Sue) is the main focus of the story instead of the celebrity.
This is always a mistake, because most people don't want to read a fanfic that focuses on the original character's plight. They're interested in the celebrity and want him (or her) to be the main character.

This is always a mistake, because most people don't want to read a fanfic that focuses on the original character's plight. They're interested in the celebrity and want him (or her) to be the main character.
This is so true.
Whenever I beta someone's fic, I always make this clear to them. If you're going to bring in OCs, you have to make them secondary. OCs are great as foils, villains, comic relief, etc., but they can never be the main focus of the story. When they are, it's a sure sign that the writer is practicing self-insertion.
Most fanfic writers learn this straight away if they're in a good community that provides feedback. They also learn it by reading others' work. Good RPF always focuses on the RP.

Ick on your leeches, Ergo. They suck, but Australia is still a fab country! On visits across the Ditch I've seen wild kangaroos, wallabies, cockies by the dozen and even a wild koala but not once a snake, spider or thank goodness, a leech. Love it. =)
And I've never seen so much blood in an Oz/NZ match! I was so close to being ill at one stage I thought I would be watching the remainder of the game through my fingers, with a bucket by my side. It was a very physical game.
The ABs may have won, but you still have the best flanker in Pocock! I'm still not clear on why Joubert gave so many penalties to the ABs. Some seemed very unreasonable. There are some really good individual players in the ABs, but I don't agree with the AB forwards tactics on forcing penalties. That's why I liked the Welsh - straight up clean rugby and talent.
On the other hand the ABs are now going to play to the French at their own game.
Looking forward now to Oz vs Wales on Friday!

Hiya PP, yep the penalties seemed quite unfair, a couple were reasonable but it was like every decision went against the Wallabies, but the AB's were playing very strongly and the Wallabies just weren't right on their game.
There was a LOT of blood wasn't there! Good lord I don't know how they keep playing, and that Wallaby with his eye progressively closing, that's gotta hurt!

I wonder, Mayo, did you know that would happen once you started talking to some of them and singling certain ones out? Did you have an inkling that they would turn on one another like so many hungry cannibals? Were you surprised? Or was that always your intent?
I understand why you rarely come here now and why you don't speak to anyone. But I don't understand why you even bother to come back at all. Or, is it the train wreck factor for you too?

I'm a different anon here, but I hav to say that no one is picking on her because of "who she chooses to write fiction about." No one cares who it's about. The focus seems to be the fact that it's disgusting, degrading to Gerard and his family (purposely, too,) and just plain bad writing.
A lot of terrible writers get called out on being terrible. That's what happens if you post your work in public and people don't like it. If you can't stand being told you're not a good writer, don't post it anywhere.

Durham Cathedral was used in the first two Harry Potter films for both interior and exterior views of Hogwarts. The chapter house was used for the scenes in McGonagall's classroom.
I walked around for hours, well for most of the day actually, and with every step I took I felt myself walking into the past. I get so carried away when I go to these places. I know it sounds daft but it feels as if I'm another person.
