Voracious

There was never more time
than when I was 23,
bold, brash and free.
I called out to any, to all…
you will never make me fall
as I pushed back

up from the pavement.

It is faster now, time.
Being no longer 23,
with a near carbon-copy me
I chase after and hold
for a moment, to keep
her from falling.
She will, I know.
Just as she tumbles head over heels in the grass, a summersault.
She will tumble a life.
Over and over, the days
I can salve and bandage her knee,
treat the sting of a bee,
turn her ear to my voice
singing on or off key.
She will stop crying,
only momentarily

before she will be
pushing off of 23.

Well, I wouldn't call him "pretty", anon! His features simply aren't feminine enough to be called pretty or manly enough to be called handsome.

What he is, in my opinion, is CUTE AS HECK (which I've thought ever since seeing him in "Angels In The Outfield") and he's darn fine actor!

This is a "pretty, pretty boy":

~~Bill Kaulitz~~

Still no match for the handsomeness of the one and only:

~~VILLE VALO!!!~~

At least not according to 150,000 plus Revolver readers who voted for Mr. Valo as the "hottest dude in hard rock/metal"! And, I must say it again; Revolver readers have EXCELLENT taste... in my opinion!

;)

I really dig that gender discrimination where "pretty" = "feminine" have to say I disagree. Masculine can be pretty too and I have heard women described as "a handsome woman."

Anonymous said...

Sorry but why would I be at the wrong blog? Everyone else posts pictures of videos, songs and pictures all the time. I happen to see him in 50/50 when it got leaked yesterday and I think he is a pretty pretty boy.

Anon616 said...

Oh now come on, 2:58. You're grasping at straws... again.

Pretty, does generally, refer to feminine qualities. If I wanted to "gender discriminate" I would have said NO MAN CAN BE PRETTY.

I think we ALL know that's not true. There are many pretty males out there. Why, Ville Valo himself was once a "pretty boy" who grew into a most handsome man.

I also agree that there are handsome females out there. One woman/celebrity who comes to mind is Ellen Degeneres. She is a "handsome" woman. Another is Angelica Huston. Not "classic" beauties, not what most would describe as pretty; but, still attractive. Handsome, if you will.

I think that my Sandy Ann is one of the most HANDSOME female creatures I've ever seen! There isn't much "feminine or dainty" about her; but, she sure is beautiful in a HANDSOME way!

Hiya guys, how are you all?

Hiya Ergo sweetie, glad you liked my joke. There's a great app for iphone called sikipedia. I'm not sure if it's just an English one cos all the jokes about sport are all English and it's all about what's happening in our news.

I'm soooooooooooo jealous of your camping weekend. It sounded great. Couldn't do that in our country right now, you'd wake up with frostbite. Actually until today you wouldn't cos it's been really mild and I'm still seeing many people in shorts. In November, I ask ya.

Wore these mahoosive fake boobies. 'Twas a fun night:)

LOL Welshie, what did you get up to. Sounds like fun. The British public did us proud again. Can you believe that in the current economic climate, we beat last year's total.

LOL, I hope your Auntie Doris enjoys her folk singer tomorrow. Have fun sweetie hee hee!

Anon, your postings with all the patterns spelling stuff really are clever. I think they're great.

RIP Mark Hall - creator of Danger Mouse, and half of Cosgrove Hall, 1936-2011, Thanks.

Ergo, I love Dangermouse. I bought myself some great Dangermouse knickers from Primark last week.

Anon, that was funny about that woman putting her husband up for sale. Maybe she'll get an offer so good she'll actually go through with it hahah!

In memory of a great performer and musical innovator, lead singer of one of the best rock bands ever...

and thanks

Hear, hear Ergo. He is still unmatched as a performer.

I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving guys. I have figured out what thanksgiving is really for. Americans are not very good at cooking Christmas dinner so you all need a day to practice a month before the real deal heheheheh!

Just kidding.

I hope it was a good one for you all.

Have a great weekend guys xx

Good morning!

Hi welshie, wendy, missT

Hope your Aunt Doris had a great night Welshie!

Mayo, Elena & Wendy , hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving.

MissT, I have Dangermouse on DVD, used to watch it all the time, we got some of their other cartoons as well, like Count Duckula and we watched Fifi & the Flowertots when BG was little.
They were a great pair af animators.

Speaking of, the only Xmas movie I want to see is Arthur Christmas by the Aardman studios, they have a totally different sense of humour to the other Christmas movies they churnout for kids every year. I do love the Aardman stuff, hopefully they'll show Robbie the Reindeer again on tv, it's so funny

Yeah never actually talked to you before, just read your words so you can take your "again" and stick it. And you just parroted back what I said to you, men *can* be pretty. But "pretty" doesn't have to mean "feminine".

Anonymous said...

Wasn't 50/50 great, 2nd Anon @2:58? I was surprised that a film about cancer could actually be funny. Not that it wasn't sad and moving too. I laughed. I cried.

JGL was perfect. So were Anna Kendrick and Anjelica Huston. And for once, Seth Rogen didn't make me want to strangle him (well, not much, anyway). Oh, and it was so good to see Matt Frewer again. Anybody remember Max Headroom? LMAO. Although, I always remember him as Trashcan Man from The Stand.

Anyway, 50/50 is a great film. Everyone should go see it.

Anonymous said...

I want to see Arthur Christmas, but only because James McAvoy is doing the voice. Actually, I want James McAvoy to narrate my life. :)

I do not approve of people trying to guilt celebrities, or anyone for that matter, into going out with them.

Make no mistake, I have nothing but empathy for the cancer patient from the ONTD link, but I think she is being unfair to Joseph Gordon-Levitt. No one should be made to feel obligated to date anyone. Rumor has it that Gordon-Levitt is currently dating Scarlett Johansson. I personally would not want a sympathy date, especially with someone who is already romantically attached.

I agree that 50/50 was an amazing movie. The breakdown scene in the car was particularly brutal, but, as a parent, the part that really got me was when Adam was going in for surgery and he called his mom, "Mommy". Afterwards, his mom had to watch him being wheeled off to the OR, not knowing whether or not she would see him again. Heartrending. I could not hold back the tears.

I don't care for Ashley Greene. Although if you believe the tabloids, she has dated everyone from Jared Followill to Joe Jonas to fellow Twi-fail star Jackson Rathbone. But no, she's not getting much work other than Twilight, so I don't think that puts her on "everyone's list".

Holy Heck!!!!! What a GRRRREat GLEASON GRAS #1 it was today!!!!!! Sure, the weather could have been a whole lot beter; but... dreary, cold, rainy weather did NOT stop the FUN for a great cause!

GREAT food, great music, great (old) friends. Drinking, dancing in the rain and celebrating this crazy, wonderful and sometimes heartbreaking and such a harsh journey we call life. What a wonderful man #37, Mr. Gleason, is!! !! What an inspiration he is!

There are no words to adequately describe how touched I (and many others) were by the courage, strength and faith of that man today. What a beautiful human being he is. What beautiful people all the people who came out and participated in GLEASON GRAS #1 are!

Drew Brees, Sean Payton, Better Than Ezra (with special guests Ed Roland and members of Bonerama), Papa Grows' Funk, Kyle Turley (a former NOLA Saint and now an 'Outlaw Country' recording artist), Preservation Jazz Hall Band second line, the 610 Stompers, Big Sam's Funky Nation, Theresa Andersson, Stanton Moore
and David Torkanowsky, MyNameIsJohnMichael.
Paul Varisco and The Milestones, Kristin Diable and Andrew Duhon and Spyboy!

My faith in humanity and the future ( our future) is restored a little more, every day, thanks to people like all those named above.

In the words of Steve Gleason himself: See you next year at GLEASON GRAS II!!!!

I have no doubt that he will be there. As will his beautiful wife, baby , I and many others who were there today.

:)

Good night, everyone. May you all find at least half the courage. strength, love, friendshiip, determination and faith of Steve Gleason.

Hugs and Love,

Ergo, Gary Speed was the Wales Football Manager. He sadly took his own life early Sunday morning. He was 42. At midday on Saturday he was live on the BBC’s Football Focus programme discussing his future plans for the side. According to those at the studio he was on great form, laughing and joking and making plans to appear again on the show before Christmas.
The papers over here are going on about how he had everything in life, a successful career, money, fantastic home, a loving family...

But depression has nothing to do with what you have or haven't got nor how you seem to others. It needs no reason. A cruel, lonely battle.

Good Morning

Anon I really didn't delete my blog, I mean it's still there just empty at the moment. I did that a while back thinking I'd remodel but I got busy. No drama at all so Welshie don't worry.

But the Sprint store and my phone...now that was drama. First they tried to tell me it was the battery. Told them it wasn't. So after shopping a bit (of course phone went dead again) back I went. When they actually took a look at it they found it was the phone but they didn't have another Evo in stock. This would not do since I need the phone. It all turned out very good because they gave me a new Evo 3D. I haven't tried taking 3D pictures yet but I probably will today. It took forever to reload apps. Anyway I think I've got it pretty much done now.

Well got a full day ahead so I better get moving. Take care everyone.

Hi Mayo! Hi everyone!

Ya'll ever think about Rivers? I mean, REALLY THINK about Rivers?

Today, I'm thinking that maybe I should think about Rivers (all rivers) a little more...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I am from the mountains and wandering Rivers yet I am aware of this life’s sacredness no matter where I sit. With every breath that I give, I am free.”
... I am most at peace, when I am at the Rivers edge. I can spend hours, days, weeks at the Rivers edge and be completely entertained and satisfied. I simply turn my head from side to side.
During these times I rarely think about WHY I am filled with this peace.
What is so peaceful about Rivers? They are so definite and yet so momentary. Rivers will surely reach its destination though it does not know the path it will follow. It rushes forth with assurance and power bending to its environment yet rigid in its goal and final destination.
... In the battle between Rivers and the stone, Rivers always win. Through perseverance not strength. Power not force.
Although they have a source and a destination, Rivers and the cycle; Rivers to mist to cloud to rain and back to Rivers, is everlasting.
At the Rivers edge all things pass quickly so be alert and present, but also remember too that as quickly as the fish or the branch pass, Rivers is eternal.
~~Why I Love Rivers by Steve Gleason~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Amazing man. Simply amazing.

Goodnight, everyone! May your Rivers, their beginnings ~ banks ~ edges ~ mouths and mysteries, bring you as much peace as Mr. Gleason's has brought him.

Stay safe out there!

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

You get silence or platitudes, and even sometimes condemnation, as though the suicide were somehow your fault.

I know. My husband committed suicide six years ago, leaving me with two children.

We're okay, but it hasn't been easy. We've pretty much had to make it on our own though.

Good Morning

Anon I'm very sorry you and your children had to experience such a loss. But angry that obviously some people treated you the way you've described. That is just so wrong.

In the case of Don Harman, our weatherman, I think it was always sort of obvious he had some problems. Like I said he was so funny but at times almost too funny, too "up". But then he'd have days where you could just see he was "down". There was no joking, no smiles at all. I guess he just couldn't fight whatever demons he had anymore. But to be honest my first thought when I heard about it was his family. It was a big deal around here when he got married a few years ago and then when his daughter was born. The sad thing is I guess that people want to believe that if you have a wife and child you have a reason to live but thinking like that isn't right. I'm sure he loved them both but even that couldn't stop whatever darkness plagued him.

Anonymous said...

I understand that you very much dislike me sometimes. I am sorry for that. I didn't mean for all of that to happen. I'm sorry it did. But I am begging you, please. If there is anything you can do, please do it. I will owe you my life. That isn't much but it is something. Please. I don't know what else to say. You should understand by now how hard it is just to ask. But I am begging you. You're it. Please help me.

Escape is not a solution.

It sounds like your weatherman was bipolar. That's what was wrong with my husband.

Thing is, he loved his "ups", and he did everything he could do to prolong them, including refusing medication, drinking, and taking pain pills and antidepressants which only made the highs more intense. Of course, that also meant that the crashes were more intense as well. It was during one of those that he killed himself.

Family members often blame the spouse. There is a lot of recrimination. "Why didn't you make him get help?" What people don't seem to realize is that you can't "make" anyone do anything they don't want to do.

Even worse are the crazy religious zealots who will tell you that your loved one is in hell.

My heart goes out to your friend's family, Elena. I hope they realize that there was nothing they have done. It's hard enough losing someone you love without blaming yourself and being blamed by others.

*could have done

Unfortunately, the suicide rate always goes up during the holidays. Elena's weatherman and his family are one of what will be way too many this holiday season. :(

Anonymous said...

That's especially true in tough economic times. We have so many people struggling to just feed their children. There's no way they can afford toys for them. Imagine what that thought does to an already depressed person. All they can think of is the disappointment they'll see in their children's eyes. They don't think about the heartbreak and pain that'll be in their children's eyes if they kill themselves. They can't see that far. They can't see the after I'm gone.

good morning!

Welshie my daughter has been hanging out to start her advent calendar as well, a piece of chocolate each morning until Christmas...how can you go wrong!
I actually saw a wall hanging one made of felt with little numbered pockets, was tossing up whether to get it and add my own choccies.

Morning elena, like you said, family isn't a reason, often they feel they are saving them from further hurt. Sounds like he may have been suffering from a mood disorder, in his skewed thoughts his choice was the best option. It's a tragic thing for all.

Sorry to hear that 8:38, what you've said is very true, same with accidents, people just don't know how to broach the subject so they don't try, when all people need is an ear to listen or a kind word or a practical help. I should have said "I hope they'll have people to care". Also I hope you and your kids have a happy Christmas season, despite the sadness that would be there also.

Probably why it never aired on MTV or any video programs in 1990 and why it still hasn't aired on TV some 21 years later.

21 years later and it's still considered too provocative to air. That's innovation. ;)

Are you brave enough to see?

Do you want to change it?

Hiya guys, how are you?

MissT, I have Dangermouse on DVD, used to watch it all the time, we got some of their other cartoons as well, like Count Duckula and we watched Fifi & the Flowertots when BG was little.
They were a great pair af animators.

Ergo, I loved count duckula too. When I was really, really little I used to watch Chorlton and the Wheelies.

Welshie, the news about Gary Speed was so sad. I was such a fan of his during his time at Leeds (next city on from Sheffield), and I was chuffed to bits when he got the job as Wales manager. Such a nice bloke, such a sad end. His poor kids, I really feel for them, especially at this time of year, there's never a good time for something like this but xmas just makes it worse.

Sad day here in KC. Our local weatherman has died. He was such a great guy, always doing things for charity. Starting the morning with his forcasts was always entertaining. His sense of humor was so great. But sadly something was wrong. He committed suicide leaving a wife and little daughter. He will be missed by so many.

Elena, that is so sad. It's awful, another person at this time of year. Just so sad.

Ergo, tell your ickle fish well done.

Well, more crimbo shopping tomorrow, when will it all end. I thought I'd done all the wrapping but there'll be more to come.

Have a great weekend everyone.

9:18 ~ That "biting" only counts if you do it WITH TEETH.

;)

That's a tip o the old hat to NIN/Trent Reznor just in case anyone could not figure that one out. I LOVE that SIN video!!!!! And, I LOVE Trent Reznor's, Atticus Ross' (score) and Karen O's cover of "Immigrant Song". Seems purrfect for the movie and WHO could have done it better? In my opinion, no one! Though, I would LOVE to hear what Kings of Leon could do with some Zeppelin! Hmmm... ?

And, I (think) I have yet to hear BTE do some Zeppelin. That would be GREAT too, I'm sure! I have heard BONERAMA do Zeppelin. They are phenomenal and I LOVE being their "bone" of the day! Ummm... as this video (of mine) was (featured on their website as the "BONE of the day"). Moms was so proud her that daughter was "bone of the day" yet again!

:P

~~SHINE by Ed Roland with BTE and Bonerama LIVE at Gleason Gras 2011~~

:)

And, that's how we do it! Rain or shine. Hot or cold. Pleasure and pain. We dance and we celebrate life!

I know there won't be a cure for ALS (Lou Gerig's disease) found in time to save Steve Gleason. He knows that too. But, that doesn't stop him from living, from celebrating, from chasing every rainbow he can chase with the hope of seeing his newborn son take he first step, say his first words, go off to his first day of school...

Again, AMAZING. I am amazed by the courage and strength of that man.

Even taking the time to defend poor Reggie Bush (who tweeted "speedy recovery" wishes to Steve Gleason).

Some media people hopped all over Reggie's arse for that one. Pointing out that there is NO recovery for Steve. That he has a terminal illness and he will die a progressively painful death.

What does Steve Gleason do when he sees his former team mate being attacked? Why, he steps in and he stands and up and says "Reggie has always been an optimist. No different here. I too expect recovery and appreciate this support frm a great teammate."

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is the one and only STEVE GLEASON.

As is this:

~~One small step in his mind. ONE GIANT step in inspiration for humanity, thanks to Steve Gleason. ~~

<3

What more can you say about a man/human being like that, other than LOVE and <3 and respect and THANK YOU.

:)

Hugs and Love and GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!
~Namaste~

Steve Gleason: "The three things I love most about New Orleans is football, food and music..."

Coach Payton (on crutches the night before the big Monday Night Football game) interrupts: "Excuse me, Steve..."

Steve Gleason: "Oh, and Sean Payton."

Amazing. Simply amazing!!!!!

If Welshie was any kind of actual friend she would personally contact the person and ask them, giving them a chance to explain instead of accusing them on the blog and making everyone wonder if they spelled something wrong, thinking she could be accusing anyone.

Hi wendy, well done your team winning.
Done all those you mentioned and to me the excavator was lots more fun, though no one rides trikes over here, all quad bikes, our forklift is a bit nifty but that's about it, more fun too than the D9, though not as nearly much fun as the 30 tonne excavator I got to have a play on last year, boy I'd love to have one of those at home to dig with!
