For as long as I can remember, I have collected little bits and pieces of people. Not eyeballs and arms, or blood and guts, but their lives, their actions, moments and movements…the way they walk or speak. I watch and listen, collecting fragments and still-frames of lives of which I know nothing. I keep these parts, and then when I am ready I attribute my own perceptions to their actions; I make up stories. I am a thief. And from what I collect, I assemble.
The way a woman, carrying her child on her hip, hesitates while crossing the street. Wrapping her hand protectively around her child’s head, she holds her breath and second guesses the crisp-suited businessman will run the red light because he is distracted talking to his mistress, and he has only five minutes to make plans with her before he meets his wife for lunch. The woman knows this because her husband left her last year for his secretary. He told her over lunch.
The way coffee shop patrons cast questioning glances at the man sitting alone at the back of the room. His eyes are downcast, and he is spinning an empty cup. He rarely moves, and never speaks. Across from him sits an empty chair, a full cup of coffee, and an uneaten pastry. Patrons avoid him, falsely assuming he is homeless or insane, because of his sour body odor and dirty clothes. It is true; he hasn’t changed them in six days, the six days since his wife died, the six days he has returned to the table at the coffee shop where they met. The same table they called “ours” twice a week.
The way a classroom full of students, half paying attention, all consider the quiet kid in the back to be a dolt. They see a girl who rarely looks up and never raises her hand. The kid isn’t ignorant or lazy. On the contrary, she has already correctly answered the question in her head. She simply can’t get past the fear that, once called upon, she will fumble through her speech and answer incorrectly, drawing upon herself the jeers of her classmates. She so fears the embarrassment of being wrong that she sacrifices achievement. She will later beat herself up because she didn’t raise her hand, taking over from where the others have left off.
No Longer Lost.
I don’t have to look for you anymore.
Not in faces that resemble yours
Round and rugged, shadow of a beard
That always seems present, but never more
Than a scruff. Is it you?
I never asked, but wonder.
This time I could not help myself.
Are you?
He told me you drowned yourself,
And that in the end they had made you a beggar
Boxed in pine, without proper notice.
It had been 20 years, but still I looked for you
Because you were kind when I was afraid.
But, I think I don’t need you anymore.
Right now, that is all prosthetic.
A lack of sleep and unending thoughts will either drive me to excuse myself from my obligations or thrust me headlong into achievement. Everything around me spins on, and I remain pushing my way through to the very end.
And that is where I remain, soldered to the front end of a rogue missile.
p.s. that is what makes it rock.

bye!
mayo,
even though what i'm writing is just a frivolity, for my own pleasure alone, it still feels so good to just really write. i don't do it enough and that's a fact. i'm too easily distractable, i need to strengthen my will. it's one of my main weaknesses.
but last night, and again tonight, i've been able to sit here and create a story, spin myself a tale and describe it in text. i wish i could do this forever.
but not tonight. time to pack it up and sleep, so i can be a good employee tomorrow.
i guess i'll just have to work on the next segment in my dreams. *grin*
good night mayo. hope it's a restful one, and a satisfying day tomorrow filled with the work you are called to do.
thanks ergo. See you later. Goodnight tj. Off for the night as well. Night night blog.
The Starry Night by Anne Sexton
That does not keep me from having a terrible need of—shall I say the word—religion. Then I go out at night to paint the stars.
Vincent Van Gogh in a letter to his brother
The town does not exist
except where one black-haired tree slips
up like a drowned woman into the hot sky.
The town is silent. The night boils with eleven stars.
Oh starry starry night! This is how
I want to die.
It moves. They are all alive.
Even the moon bulges in its orange irons
to push children, like a god, from its eye.
The old unseen serpent swallows up the stars.
Oh starry starry night! This is how
I want to die:
into that rushing beast of the night,
sucked up by that great dragon, to split
from my life with no flag,
no belly,
no cry.
I don't remember who sings it, but the song written about the Starry Night painting is a beautiful one. Sad yet tranquil.
That's very beautiful 2:46AM. But also very disturbing. I hope that is not the consequence of having a creative mind. (If so, then there will be quite a few of us in some deep shit soon!) ;P Thank you for sharing, anon!
Just wanted to drop a note to say, I'm thinkin of you guys and hoping everyone is doing well. (Hope Elena feels better soon!) Miss chatting with all! Can't wait to see *Halloween costume pics! (Cuz you all know you wanna go there, the Brits included!) Wish I had time to come on at a decent hour and catch up properly. You guys all please take care, truly thinkin of ya and wishing you all the best! Love to ya<33
(*Fuck candy! I want ((boys in)) fishnets!) ;p
Cool, I'll have to Google that one 6:48! Have a good night (or day depending)! Later! <33
Just remembered. It's called "Vincent", by Don McLean. Seek it out guys, beautiful song. Don't have time to link for you right now.
Hey Lewis, you have a good day/night too :)
Hope you enjoy the song.
Thanks very much 6:53! It's very pretty! Sorry I can't link. :( But, eh:

I have to be off, nice to chat (sorta) with ya anon! :~) Nighty night! (Or what have ya!)
Lewis!! don't have a lot of time now but great to see you!
Starry, starry night.
Paint your palette blue and grey,
Look out on a summer's day,
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
I ahve been singing that all afternoon anon, since I saw the poem.
It is a sad song, but beautiful
the painting is a wonderful one

goodnight blogbelieve, see you in my morning
♥xx♥
what the heck..
here it is Vincent
Starry, starry night.
Paint your palette blue and grey,
Look out on a summer's day,
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills,
Sketch the trees and the daffodils,
Catch the breeze and the winter chills,
In colors on the snowy linen land.
Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they did not know how.
Perhaps they'll listen now.
Starry, starry night.
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze,
Swirling clouds in violet haze,
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue.
Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain,
Weathered faces lined in pain,
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand.
Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they did not know how.
Perhaps they'll listen now.
For they could not love you,
But still your love was true.
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night,
You took your life, as lovers often do.
But I could have told you, Vincent,
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you.
Starry, starry night.
Portraits hung in empty halls,
Frameless head on nameless walls,
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the strangers that you've met,
The ragged men in the ragged clothes,
The silver thorn of bloody rose,
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.
Now I think I know what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they're not listening still.
Perhaps they never will...
But I could have told you, Vincent
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you
Favorite part ^^
Thank you for putting the lyrics up, Ergo. It's odd, the songs you realize you've forgotten from time to time are often the most beautiful of all.
And thank you for linking the video, Lewis. I 'm glad it was to your liking. Do try not to stay away for so long? It's a delight to see you around these parts.
Good Morning

Hiya guys, how are you all?
Wendy, I've not heard anything yet. But I've not heard a no either so......
*crosses ~ everything ~ again, and gives you a big snog*
LOL, you didn't have to cross your eyes too.
Not sure you'd wanna snog me right now cos my allergies finally turned into full blown cold. I'm gonna go soak in the bath.
Anyways, have a great weekend everyone xxxx
Many sympathies on your losses and the news about your dog Kap, if you ever still read here. Left a message to you at VVs. Hang in there girl, hope it gets better for you soon.
*comes in quoting*
~~~"The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours ~ it is an amazing journey ~ and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.”~~~
MissT: I'll snog you anytime! Snot... no snot... it matters not!
What's a few germs between friends!
;)
You are right about crossing my eyes though! Remind me not to do THAT next time. I forgot how that gives me a headache!
Thank you for the weekend wishes, MissT! You have a great weekend too. Think positive thoughts!
Sweetcheeks: I received your text messages and replied. I think I need to send you an e~mail too. I am not nearly skilled enough in texting to say all I have to say ~ quickly enough!
Ohhhh... I finally uploaded my Howlin' Wolf pictures and videos and they came out really NICE (if I must say so, myself). I'll work on getting them to youtube and blogger tonight (probably).
Ergo: I don't know about you; but, I'm ready for another dip! Thanks for keeping us updated on Elena!
L and J: *huge hugs and much love*
Amy: What's been going on with you? Has Lear been behaving?
Lewis: It's good to see you!!!! How's that naughty Dave?
I think that's all for now. Enjoy what remains of the day, everyone!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
Hi PJ, VM, Anima, KOL anon, Wish (how are things with you, love?) and Redrum!
Every time American Pie comes on at work, my brain switched between the real lyrics, and the lyrics for The Saga Begins.
It's been a LOOOOONG day.
*switches
Christ Almighty.
Huh, cops just pulled up, six of them just barged into a house five places up the road from us.
Never a dull moment.
*grabs her popcorn*
good late morning!
had to nip in to get groceries, and wind chimes- essentials you know?
hi Amy, sounds like a big day
you see that thing with the boy they thought was in the balloon?
So lucky they found him, I know that mixed feeling of anger and relief, they'll have to be so much more careful, could have ended so badly
Ergo, sounds like a big Nip in!
Yeah, it's getting pretty exciting out there, the HAWC1 helicopter is flying around, and one of the cop cars took off in a big hurry. I think it's probably a drug raid, seeing as they have a dog out sniffing, and they don't seem to concerned about people watching.
If it were a murder scene, they'd have gone into the house once, and the M.E would have been there 20 minutes ago.
However, neither of them are a surprise in this neighbourhood.
we had an old guy busted up here for growing marijuana on their property, a quantity that would mean he was supplying, turns out apparently his son was in charge of it, we are keeping ear to gossip to find out what happens
not much goes on here now
which is fine by me
few fires about today though, all controlled but it's not good weather at all
Still hot and dry around your area? The snow is melting (surprise), but it's going to be good for the trees, seeing as the ground isn't frozen yet.
Very hot and worse is, very dry and windy. Nights are still cool which would be why we didn't all get called out for the fire that burnt the hill last night, only one house in the way and otherwise they let it burn. It's still there but not at all a bother to anyone. You just can't get up into the hill. But never know what might happen.
Lot of smoke haze about, so must be more further away.
Good that the plants will benefit from the water too, especially with proper winter heading there
I'm most concerned about the Cherry Tree and the Maple Tree, they didn't do too well this year. But a goods blast of Mother Nature's water should help them with the winter sleep I think.
hope they do ok, natural water is always better than watering them, I'm keeping out gardens going with the hose, but rain would be so much better, yard is brown and has some huge cracks in it
Hi blog. :)
hi anon
Hallo Anon!
Ergo, is the soil inside the crack moist, or is it still fairly dry most of the way down?
Wow, I feel like I'm behind or something. Except for a small group of people, mostly all the girls on my FB list have recently given birth, are pregnant, or have just discovered that they're pregnant.
Van Gogh's wheat field with crows
Bye blog. :)
yipes Amy! Facebook baby-fest!!
it's dry aaaaaaaall the way down, but not going to waste water on the grass, it'll come back when it rains
funny though you end up with gates that won't shut as the posts shift as the ground dries, some fences get tighter, some looser, windows stick more or less
annoying but you get used to it!
bye anon :]
lunch time for me, back in a while
Night Anon!
See you later Ergo, probably tomorrow. I'm heading to bed myself.
Night everyone!
good night amyranth!
van gogh's landscapes are very beautiful, no doubt about it, but this one was always my favorite.
:)
Goodnight John Boy.
*pokes her head in*
My favorite is "Starry Night" of course.
Apparently, the episode where Usagi-Chan and Mamoru are painted by an artist who later turns out to hold a Rainbow Crystal, the painting is shown in the background.
Okay, nighty-night!
if i had my tapes here i'd be checking to see, amyranth!
sweet dreams. :)
Good Evening, everyone.
How's it going?
L.
hello TJ, hi L
how are you both?
I'm great, bloody hot though and tree again full of noisy friarbirds, living up to their name
Good Night, Amy, sorry I missed you. What happened with the neighbors? Never good to see a gathering of the police close to home!
Ergo, enjoy you lunch, hope to see you in a bit.
TJ, how's it going?
Wendy-Woo, waiting on your pics and vids too. Hugs and love back at you.
Miss T., oh, man, more snot! Well, we were down a bit in the snot production for our company, so I guess you are taking up the slack this week. Maybe you can go sling some at your neighbor too! Hope you feel better soon!
L.
Paperheart,
I meant to leave you a message earlier, I saw you comments from the other night, and I know there's not much I can say, if anything to make it better, but I wanted you to know J. and I both are thinking of you. You are such a strong, beautiful young woman who has had to go through so much. If you need to talk, we are always here for you, anytime you need it. Love and hugs, Bubbles. Always.
L.
Hey, Ergo. You are back.
I hope the fires don't get out of control again there. It was so horrible what happened before.
How are you doing tonight?
I'm batting a thousand. Never mind me, Ergo. I just noticed you already answered how you were.
You know, this is how my evening has gone. I talked to my Dad tonight before I talked to Mum, and after I talked to her, I asked her how he was! It hit me immediatly, and I told her, "wait, I just talked to him...never mind, overlook me."
To the anon(s) leaving the Van Goh paintings, poems and songs, they are just wonderful. I had never heard the song, and it was so sad, but beautiful.
Lewis, (So good to see you! I got your messages, love and miss you too!) thanks for linking the song, and Ergo, thanks for the lyrics.
no worries L
yeah it's really bad weather for fires, total fire ban everywhere, can't even have a bbq fire
those fires have made people much more careful, they have everything on standby (tanker planes and copters as well)there are some bad fires about, but so far nothing like the ones down south
l.!!! hi!!
ergo! *hands over a freezer pop*
:)
sorry it took me so long to get back here...i'm writing again, hopping between here and my document. :)
it's good to see you l., i hope you guys are doing good?
Ergo, the only good thing that comes out of a disaster is it usually brings about changes for the next time, more preventative measures and better response.
I say usually, because that's not always the case, but mostly.
Hey TJ, doing ok. How's the writing going? Is it still raining up your way?
it's taking me a little while to warm up tonight, i'm afraid -- but i've been thinking about this little story all day, so i'm persevering. :)
yep, it rained a bit today, and tomorrow is supposed to be cold, under 50! i'm excited. *heh*
I've always been an outliner. I have the basic idea already there, and then fill in as I go. I wind up writing half a page in my head before I even put pen to paper!
We're supposed to have cooler weather this weekend too. It was pretty muggy here today, but drizzly.
that's one of the things that i'm still not used to about being in this region -- warm rain! ugh.
i'm looking forward to pulling out a jacket. :)
thanks TJ
*sits down and sucks on freezer pop*
we are a different landscape up here too, but you can never be too careful
Tj it's always good to start getting some thoughts down for a story
L good to know you are feeling so much btter
Much better, Ergo.
We went to a comic book store yesterday and was there for about 2 1/2 hours. They have a room where all the comics in boxes in the floor are 25 cents, and all the ones in the boxes on the tables are a dollar. We found some really cool ones in there, and only got through about 7 boxes. Also found the Wolverine Origins one-shot comic that I had been looking for, plus the X-Men Messiah Complex Mutant Files one-shot.
It was a good day.
back when i was a kid in montana, we had to deal with wildfires as a seasonal thing, too. they never came down to where we lived, but sometimes, driving through the foothills was difficult, what with the detours.
the sunsets were always spectacular, though, from the smoke. you felt awkward admiring them, knowing they were a side effect of so much destruction.
TJ, I bet it is odd adjusting to the climate change. I know my cousins from Washington always have a hard time when they visit in the summer. Too hot and muggy for them.
it isn't easy, l. -- every time we'd have a rainy day this summer i'd get my cozy feeling, and then the minute i'd step outside wham!
air you can wear.
i just can't get my mind to change its association of "rain" with "cool".
well I just hopped in the car and went for a drive as I could suddenly smell smoke, just a bit but hadn't until now
the fire is on our side of the hill, other side of the road and about 3 miles away, not a huge fire but obviously still going. There is a house there so we may be getting calls soon, I rang hubby and he is coming home (it's poets anyway "piss off early tomorrow's saturday" so he was leaving soon regardless) he's going to look as he goes past.
Might just go check our fire brigade gear in case - helmets, jackets, boots, breather etc we have it all in a box
so nobody worry about me though, it's not uncommon and I am not going to take silly risks but well placed thoughts/prayers would be good :]
ergo, you know i'm sending some of our cool temps to you just to balance things out. :)
Definitly, Ergo!
Even if you've gone through it before, it's still a scary thought. Do you guys go out as part of a group, like a volunteer fire department?
yep we are part of the rural fire brigade, we get training and such (though I personally, wouldn't fight unless they were desperate) we all have proper jackets, boots and all.
Regular brigade usually turns up too if needed.
I got our stuff out, better to be prepared
thanks guys :]
ergo, you know we're going to want to see a picture of you in your gear!
Stay safe, Ergo. I hope it calms before it gets anywhere it can do damage.
Dad used to work volunteer with the Forest Service here, and had a few close calls. One VERY close call, but they never lost anyone, thank goodness.
so do I L!
as you insisted TJ
Guys, I think I'm going to call it a night. Ergo, take care and good thoughts and prayers are going out to you.
Night, TJ. Good luck with your writing.
Elena, if you are about, hope you feel better. Love ya!
Night!
oh, that's awesome ergo!! :D
i love it!
good night, l.! it was so nice to chat with you tonight.
take care and sweet dreams. :)
I just hope the only wear it gets is modelling!!
L it is hard to rock bright yellow and reflective stripes but I try XD
only I don't put on the helmet unless I have to, lol
well just got a call from the lady at the top of the road and hubby has stopped there to help,
i hope everything will be alright ergo.
i need to be getting to bed though -- i stayed up too late last night writing and almost missed my ride this morning!
you guys are going in my bedtime prayers tonight. take care. ♥
and sweet dreams!
thanks TJ, sweet dreams
mayo,
today one of my friends on facebook made an update about the snow they were experiencing, and oh man, i was so jealous! i grew up with october snow, and after all those years in the pacific northwest, i never stopped missing it.
i won't get any this year...but i'm not staying here for long, and for sure, actual snow and actual winter are requirements of my next home!
it's my favorite season, even with the cold. i remember stepping out of my dorm room at night to go across campus to the library, and feeling like i was breathing the clearest, purest, coldest air. winter purifies.
and yeah, it does that anywhere, if you pay close enough attention...but nothing as magically as that blanket of snow.
well, in my opinion, anyway. *grin*
take care mayo, and have a good night.
A SOUTHERNER MOVES UP NORTH
JAN 10 5:00 PM. It's starting to snow. The first snow of the season and
the first one we've seen in years. The wife and I took our hot buttered
rums and sat by the picture window, watching the soft flakes drift down,
clinging to the trees and covering the ground. It was beautiful!
Jan 11 We awoke to a lovely blanket of crystal white covering the
landscape. What a fantastic sight. Every tree and shrub covered with a
beautiful white mantle. I shoveled snow for the first time in years, and
loved it. I did both our driveway and our sidewalk. Later a city
snowplow came along and accidentally covered up our driveway with
compacted snow from the street. The driver smiled and waved. I waved
back and shoveled it again.
Jan 12 It snowed an additional 5 inches last night and the temperature has
dropped to about 11 degrees. Several limbs on the trees and shrubs
snapped due to the weight of the snow. I shoveled our driveway again.
Shortly afterwards, the snowplow came by and did his trick again. Much of
the snow is now brownish-gray.
Jan 13 Warmed up enough during the day to create some slush which soon
became ice when the temperature dropped again. Bought snow tires for both
cars. Fell on my ass in the driveway. $145 to a chiropractor, but
nothing was broken. More snow and ice expected.
Jan 14 Still cold. Sold the wife's car and bought a 4x4 in order to get
to work. Slid into a guardrail anyway, and did considerable amounts of
damage to the right quarter panel. Had another 8 inches of the white shit
last night. Both vehicles covered in salt and crud. More shoveling in
store for me today. That goddamn snowplow came by twice today.
Jan 15 2 degrees outside. More fuckin' snow. Not a tree or shrub on our
property that hasn't been damaged. Power was off most of the night.
Tried to keep from freezing to death with candies and a kerosene heater,
which tipped over and nearly burned the house down. I managed to put the
flames out but suffered 2nd degree burns on my hands and lost all my
eyelashes and eyebrows. 4x4 slid on the ice on the way to the
emergency-room and was totaled.
Jan 16 Goddamn mother fuckin' white shit keeps coming down. Have to put
all the clothes on we own just to get to the fuckin' mailbox. If I ever
catch that son-of-a-bitch that drives the snowplow I'll chew open his
chest and rip out his heart. I think he hides around the corner and waits
to plow shut our driveway again. Power still off. Toilet froze and part
of the roof has started to cave in.
Jan 17 Six goddamn more fuckin' inches of fuckin' snow and fuckin'
sleet, fuckin' ice and goddamn knows what other kind of white fuckin'
shit fell last night. I wounded the fuckin' snowplow asshole with an ice
axe, but he got away. Wife left me. Car won't start. I think I'm going
snowblind. I can't move my toes. Haven't seen the sun in weeks. More
snow predicted. Wind Chill -22 fuckin' degrees. I'm moving back to
Louisiana!!
LOL anon
ok fire update:
hubby home, all under control, fire-breaks made, being watched but all ok for now :]
You know you live Too Far North when
You design your Halloween costumes to fit over a snowsuit.
You have more miles on your snow blower than your car.
You have 10 favourite recipes for elk, moose or deer meat.
You live in a house that has no front steps, yet the door is three feet above the ground.
Driving is better in the winter because the potholes get filled with snow.
You think everyone from the city has an accent.
You think sexy lingerie is tube socks and a flannel nightie with only 8 buttons.
At least twice a year, the kitchen doubles as a meat processing plant.
The most effective mosquito repellent is a shotgun.
You frequently clean grease off your barbecue so the bears won't come up on your deck.
There is only one shopping plaza in town.
You find -40C a little chilly.
The trunk of your car doubles as a deep freezer.
Shoveling the driveway constitutes a great upper body workout.
There are two seasons: Liquid and Solid
Nine months of winter and three months of rough sledding.
Six inches of snow is still considered a heavy frost.
Goodnight Mary Ellen.
ah well, bit of excitement this afternoon. Fortunately wasn't any more than that, fires are a bit of a worry, but something you just have to deal with, being prepared is half the battle. Hope you have days much less eventful
Good Morning, everyone!
Ergo, the man with the cat learns just how many boxes of bandages there are in the house and if the E.R. takes his insurance.
I've had coffee, lots of coffee, so I am ready for the day, and it looks fairly nice outside. No rain right now, cooler and not so muggy. I have several errands to run today, so I hope the rain holds back for a little while at least.
Anon who left the North and South comments this morning, LOL! I can see that. We have a similar list for Knoxville and/or Tennessee as the North one.
One of them is:
"If you've ever had the heat and the air conditioner on in the same day, you must be in Tennessee."
The comic book store adventure brought up a discussion at our home about keeping things put away or enjoying them.
See, several of the comics we bought were in pretty rough shape, not exacly collectors items. That didn't matter. It was almost better, that you knew they had been read over and over again, and that someone had loved them that much.
It's nice to keep things in mint shape, in the box, etc., don't get me wrong. But there is something to be said about enjoying all that life has while we are here.
I had several first generation Star Wars toys when I was younger. Comics, trading cards, action figures, models, etc. But every single one of those items looks rough. And I mean rough. I read the comics over and over, played with the models and action figures, thumbed through all the cards and magazines. And I had FUN. Loved every minute of it.
I also have a quilt that my Mum made me years ago that has several small holes in it now. She made me, my sister and brother each one. My siblings put theirs in plastic and away in closets. Which I can understand. They wanted to keep them just as they were, and to hand down to their kids.
But I use mine. It stays in the living room, to wrap up in when I am cold, sick, tired or sad. It has been a source of great comfort to me, and I will use it until it falls apart in tatters. And even then, mabye.
I'm loving the stories from Ergo and Elena, not just for the stories themselves, which are great, but for the fact that they have the action figures out the boxes, playing with them, having fun. No, they're no longer mint, but they have made them and several people smile, and THAT, my friends, is what life's all about.
Everyone take care, and I hope to see you tonight.
Love,
L.
Mayo,
How are you doing?
What's your favorite toy from your childhood? Do you still have it?
I hope you are enjoying life and taking care of yourself. I remember some of the earlier posts, how you seemed to be in so much turmoil and pain. You sound better, Mayo, and it's good to read. I hope things are going well, and that you just don't need us as much anymore. I don't mean that bad, I mean it as if that's the case, you are doing better, and that's wonderful.
But make no mistake about it, we are here, and here for you when you need to talk.
Have a great day, Mayo.
Love,
L.
S.S.,
How's by you?
What was your favorite childhood toy, too? Did you like to blow up things or did you take care of them? Somehow, I think you were the type to blow stuff up, but I could be wrong!
Hope you are having a great day too, take care of yourself. You know you can always find a friend (or two, or a dozen) here too.
Love ya,
L.
:p
:D
:)
Ooops, I'm more pissed off than I thought. No one saw that "secret stuff", right?
;P
*comes in very sad and very pissed off*
Gone. Slaughtered. MURDERED. The entire Cottonwood pack ~ those gorgeous, amazing, magnificent animals ~ killed.
Grrrrrrr...
~~~Dear Wendy,
I have sad news. Yellowstone National Park’s famous Cottonwood Pack has just been destroyed -- all the adult wolves have been killed, and the surviving pups will likely die without the rest of their wolf family.
The Cottonwoods are just some of the latest victims of the federal government’s likely illegal decision to eliminate vital protections for our wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the northern Rockies. Unless we are successful in urging Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to reverse this bad decision, hundreds more wolves will be killed.~~~
:( and >_<
>_<
Letter (from Defenders Of Wildlife/Save The Wolves) continued...
~~~Last month, a federal judge ruled that we are likely to win our lawsuit to restore protections for these beloved wolves. But with the lives of hundreds of wolves at stake, we can’t wait for the final ruling on our case -- a ruling that will likely not come for many months.
~~Please sign our petition to Secretary Salazar today.~~
The Cottonwood wolves were not the first victims of the flawed delisting -- and they certainly won’t be the last. The time has come to correct the unacceptable error made by the Obama administration that continues to erode one of the greatest conservation victories of the last century. Please lend your voice to help save our wolves.~~~
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
PS: Will catch up and be back in a bit.
*comes back with the usual greetings*
Hello Mayo, SS, L (and J), Sweetcheeks, MissT, Amy, Ergo, Martha, Elena, TJ, those who are pissed off ~ today, and those who are not!
L: Thank you, so much, for sharing your memories (and thoughts) with all of us! That's so true about those toys.
I do not have ONE toy, from childhood, in "mint" (or half mint) condition. My Barbies and Kens have heads and limbs glued back on, my tea sets are a "mish mosh" of chipped pieces, the matchbox cars (I inherited from my brother) have missings tires and doors ~ quite a few scratches too...
not because I didn't love and appreciate my toys; but, because I did love them. Because I played with them, enjoyed them and had fun with them!
Thanks, L!
Ergo: I'm happy to hear things have calmed down for you! Are the fires all out?
Amy: How many of those neighbors were hauled off to the big house?
Update on my pictures and videos: I'm getting there! I'm just having such a difficult time resizing these. They're just so darn pretty!!!! (And, I seem to spend a good 15 minutes just gazing at each photo!)
:P
Okay, off I go to do more gaz... I mean resizing!
Have a great day/evening, everyone!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
Hi PJ, Entropy, NO, Poofed C, m., and Bikey!
*comes back in ONCE more ~ for now*
1:27/A Southerner moves up North anon: LOL and Hell yeah!
You never hear of birds flying north for the winter, do you? They got sense!
And, how many retirees do you hear saying "I'm moving up north"? Ummm, hmmmm... they've wised up by their "twilight/dusk" years!
;)
Although, that blanket of white we had last year was a beautiful, glorious and rare treat. I'm not sure any of us "Louisianians" would think it was quite so beautiful and glorious were it not SO RARE!
*blows kisses to blog believe*
Another day just loaded with excitement at Mayo's...
good morning!!
L you are so right, really what is the point if you don't enjoy something? Seems to rather defeat the purpose.
wendy, not out but not threatening anything. There is another big fire south somewhere of us, can see the smoke it's up in the hills.
There are places elsewhere though with bad ones, one area is looking at evacuations depending on the weather today.
real shame about the wolves too, I hope they can change the listing back
cute pics smile anon!
hope everyone is having a lovely day :]
baking banana bread
Another day just loaded with excitement at Mayo's...
Four people commented all day! I commented and now it is up to five!
Congrats 8.54. You can count to 5! Probably didn't even hafta use your fingers. You're such a big girl (boy). Can you sing the alphabet song? That would be really exciting.
Congrats 8.54. You can count to 5! Probably didn't even hafta use your fingers
WRONG! I did hafta use my fingers. Just shows you that you don't know everything!
P.S Can i have some grapes instead? I don't like bananas >_<
Ergo used all the bananas anyway, unless the main ingredient in Banana Bread is Plantains.
*places down bowl of grapes*
there you go!
peaches are much nicer, especially when the flesh is soft and juicy.
hi amy!
my bananas were even home grown :]
they were the lady finger ones, you know? short and fat, do you get that sort there?
short fat bananas are universal.
WRONG! I did hafta use my fingers. Just shows you that you don't know everything!
If I did know everything I wouldn't hafta use the word probably. Just shows you that you don't read or see everything.
P.S Can i have some grapes instead? I don't like bananas >_<
Nope. Not until you learn to pay attention and count without using your fingers. Like the chimp.
Hard to say Bron, they regulate all fruits and veggies here so much, it's hard to tell if we get special version of anything.
Not as bad as the UK though, where if they curve too much or too little, they get thrown out, and the grower gets fined.
10:42
You may have some peaches.
:)
Movin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches...
*hums*
Hi blog. :)
Anonymous said...
short fat bananas are universal.
But not universally loved.
Peaches come from a can they were put there by a man
In a factory downtown
If I had my little way Id eat peaches everyday
Sun soakin bulges in the shade
hi anon
lady fingers are one of the bananas people grow at home, you don't often see them for sale, that is the realm of the ubiquitous Cavendish, with all it's related monoculture problems
Plus it doesn't last as well and is usually gas ripened so they have no taste
There are so many varieties it's a shame only one is "allowed" for commercial sale
Ergo, I know we only get regular "Chiquita" bananas, and if you go to the organic foods section, you can buy plantains, but I've never actually had one to be honest.
I like pomegranates, but not the way they stain everything they come into contact with.
pomegranates are nice but so much work!!
Though belting them is theraputic lol
I have never had plantain either, though it does look nice, we can't buy them here though
apricots are lovely too. they're very fragrant and sweet when they are properly ripened.
now i have that peaches song in my head. :/
I like nectarines, especially the white ones
Christmas is our stone fruit season
hi TJ
likewise with plums, they can taste extraordinarily sweet when they turn a deep pink shade.
I love the flavor, texture, and scent of perfectly ripened cantaloupe or honeydew.
Nectarines are delicious too ergo. So are tangerines.
Bye blog.
hi there, ergo. :)
hello, fruit-loving anon(s)!
ergo, youve been making a lot of banana bread haven't you? do you freeze any, or does it just not last long enough to have any left to freeze? banana bread always has a short shelf-life in my family. *heh*
*raises her hand sheepishly*
I've never had an apricot that wasn't dried before. Still very good, but I bet you they're better fresh, huh?
Melon Anon, I get your drift, but I prefer cantaloupe to honeydew. Both are great, and hey, throw in a watermelon and I'm dazzled, but overall, even at room temperature, I like the heavy sweetness of a cantaloupe.
the one I just made, I just now wrapped and put in the freezer!
we iz sykik!!
I'm using up the last of our bananas before they go off
They last pretty well, but as they all end up ripe together you can only eat so many. We have given some away as well.
There is another nice bunch on one plant but it's still green
bye anon
0_o
*scratches head*
*waves bye bye*
you've never had a fresh apricot?
Oh you must, they are so nice, though some can be dry and taste sort of powdery, which is a huge let down
I cook apricot chicken fairly often, it uses tinned apricots and a tin of nectar but if you add dried apricots they sort of go really sweet and sticky and are totally NOM!!
(esp in a slow cooker)
i agree with ergo, amyranth, do try fresh apricots sometime if you can! (and hi there!)
bye, anon. that definitely was a head-scratcher of a dress!
i tasted my best apricot when i visited in japan. incredibly overpriced but divine. the fruit there is superb, if you're prepared to pay for it.
were you in tokyo, anon? i've heard that that's the most expensive city in the world.
i don't think i've had the best apricot yet, but the best plum i ever had was from this little corner grocer in london. it was perfectly ripe, and a total mess to eat. :)
I'd say Pam Anderson rolled out of bed, but it looks like she took most of it with her as well.
Oh, to have piles of money and no sense whatsoever.
osaka
I made a delicious apple crisp on Thanksgiving, with Battleford Apples, which you can't get in grocery stores. Definitely one of the best ones I've ever made, but Battlefords are not the most convenient apple. They don't grow very large at all, and oddly enough, they don't have seeds.
Anon, my in-laws spent some time in Osaka a couple of years back. MIL finds it much better than Tokyo, mostly because it's not as crowded.
I'm really interested in the idea of backpacking Northern Japan. Hokkaido and the Islands look really nice.
i've heard osaka is lovely, anon. i'd like to go to japan someday. :)
amyranth, how do they propagate, if they don't have seeds?
I'd like to see japan too, my parents have been there and said it was wonderful, though very expensive.
Everything is perfect though, and beautifully packaged
Well Teej, as far as I can see, it has yet to do so. I guess it doesn't need to put forth seed in order to produce apples, and the primary pollination seems to start the apples.
I DID see something mentioned about secondary pollination on a website, and I'm willing to bet that means that if I plan to get seeds in order to get baby trees, I probably need a second Battleford to inspire cross-pollination from the bees.
The bees just love that Battleford, and while a second one is a good idea, they're apparently a very expensive species.
wow, very complicated! but having your own apple tree would be a wonderful luxury, wouldn't it?
it's beginning to sound like there needs to be a blog trip to japan in the future!
When you see it.....You will shit briks!
http://shitbrix.com/mindfuck/the-chair
Oh Teej, I do have one Battleford, but you know, I just went and checked the apples I picked off of my tree and THEY have seeds.
I did get a second bag of apples from a co-worker with a Battleford, and her apples are the ones with no seeds.
But now I'm curious to see if the seeds are viable...
Either way, I stand corrected.
I have Hello Panda's here, from Japan
they are really yummy choc filled cookie bits
do you guys have them?
Ooooh. No, Ergo, but they sound good right now!
The only thing I've had from Japan that wasn't Pocky is this weird little mushroom shaped cooke thing. A chocolate cap, and a cookie stem. Very good, but very hard to find around these parts. I have to travel to Vancouver to get them.
BRB, Futurama is on!!
perhaps the seedless ones are only ever grafted
One would wonder why a seedless is better though. Unless it's just a consumer thing.
If they are a hybrid the seeds may not be viable, like a lot of tomatoes
i hope they are, amyranth! that would be really cool. :)
i've seen those at asian markets, ergo, but never bought any. i was always distracted by all the green tea flavored items. *heh*
and the rice crackers! i love rice crackers. ♥
japan is simply beautiful, the culture, the language, the aesthetics. modern yet deeply versed in tradition.
if you go, plan to go in spring, the cherry-blossom season. be also prepared to go in line for a tree in the park the night before the blossoms open, as it is a tradition for the locals to have their picnics under a tree during this season.
Hello everyone
Yep, I'm alive. At least I think I am. Today I actually got up and got dressed. You have no idea what an accomplishment that was for me. Thanks for all the well wishes for me and Mr Elena. We are both doing better except Mr Elena is now a proud owner of a root canal. LOL
He was not impressed
Oh well he did get good drugs out of the deal. Said he could fly. Damned if he couldn't!
Well just wanted to stop in and say hello. I hope to be back tomorrow at full speed.
Take care everyone.
the way they have managed to keep their culture so grounded in rural traditions while being so technologically advanced is one of the things i admire about japan.
i'd also love to visit kyoto, but i always imagine seeing it in the fall, with all those little red maple leaves everywhere.
Muse going for Eclipse Soundtrack .
Oh I know those Amy!
Asia has the best confections
there is a crow, which has been getting this bag of chick feed in the shed and eating it, it's nearly empty and we were just watching him drag it out of the shed and I swear it looked like he was trying to hold it open to get in, but it keeps falling on him, then he dragged it around to where the wind would hold it open, but it wasn't constant enough and as he'd stick his head in , it'd fall onto him and he'd jump out.
He's flown off now, probably to think about it.
Mayo
I have missed you. Got stories and pics to share. But not now, I'm tired. But getting better. Take care.
Night Mayo
Elena
elena! so good to see you, and to hear that you're improving! take it easy, though, give yourself the time to really get well.
sweet dreams. :)
SS
Dude I have missed you. Keep that Halloween spirit alive! Oh and so when is it we're gonna meet in that graveyard? LOL
Take care
Elena
it is a unique country, I remember having a picture in a project about Japan, of Mt Fuji, I loved that picture, just so beautiful. The art is wonderful too.
ELENA!!!
so glad to see you again, and that you are both feeling better, though the root canal isn't great, at least it's fixed now
TJ BUY HELLO PANDA's you won't regret it!
thanks MJ!
sweet dreams elena
yes ma'am, ergo! lol
BG eats nori, I buy the packs you use for sushi rolls and cut them into squares and put them in a container. She has loved it since she was a baby.
Won't eat vegetables, but will eat that!
(and she knows it's seaweed!!)
there's also pocky. you have it in chocolate or strawberry. or the korean version with crushed almond and chocolate.
howdy y'all
i used to not like nori, its flavor was too strong for me. but then i started buying the instant miso soup (not as good as the real stuff i know, but i'm cheap!), and now i eat the nori first. yum!
i still really like wasabi peas, too. i won't deny it.
:)
hi bc!
i was tempted to buy the dark chocolate pocky once, but didn't want to shock the clerk by getting a "man's" candy. *heh*
ooh yes we have Pocky too :]
I love how asian sweets are often so specially packaged, I love these hard lollies you can get in fruit flavour, the durian ones are divine!
hello BC!
i hate to leave just as you said hello, bc, but i really need to get to bed. i still have work tomorrow!
good night ergo, good night anon, good night amyranth (when you get back from futurama) -- it was good talking japan with you guys. :)
good night bc, i hope you have safe travels!
sweet dreams everyone. :)
mayo,
more writing tonight, i don't even know if it's any good but since it's not for publication it hardly matters. it's just so good to put words together, to tell a story, even if it's just for myself.
i've been looking forward to it all day long, every day that i've been on this spree, and then i get on the computer at night and just type, and type, and type.
if i was a cat, i'd be purring the deepest, most rumbling purr. oh yes. *grin*
anyway! good night, o thou invisible penpal o' mine. wishing you sweet dreams and a carefree tomorrow.
sweet dreams TJ
*whispers subliminally*
buy Hello Pandas,..... buy Hello Pandas...
oh hell
just got a text from Stormy who is in Denver
She is at a There For Tomorrow concert and the lead singer said "fuck My Chemical Romance" and of course Stormy had to tell me.
I gave her instructions to smack the dude but her next text said that the lead singer took it back but said he was tired of people telling him he looked like Gerard. LOL
I looked up the group. Okay maybe he looks like him a bit but not as cute. And yeah, I just said Gerard is cute. Ha
Wow goodnight anon
I love that photo. I could write a whole story from just that one picture.
Thank you for posting
hey elena!
lol, it'd get on my goat if I was always told I looked like someone else
I always laugh at celebs who are constantly mistaken and end up signing autographs as the other person
You say you always keep your word
Show me what you're after
I thought you promised me the world
Tell me what you're after
Don't wanna take it way to far
Cause here we are waiting once again
You say you always keep your word
Show me what you're after
It was never good enough for me
Show me what you're after
Just a little faster
Hey Ergo
I'm not supposed to be here. LOL
I'm sleeping if anyone asks.
Yep believe it or not at one time about 20 years ago Mr elena and I were in Park City Utah and people there thought he was Keifer Sutherland. Yep he even signed autographs for them. He really did look like him then. LOL
Thanks for posting the video link Anon. I hadn't heard that group before but they are pretty good.
:)
Pages is an even better song.
The turns you had to take still keep you awake
Down come the walls where you once stood
From constant changes you have made
You'll keep inside 'til you have a say
We change as we get older
We're not to stay
The days we walked are over
Now we just drive away
From everything I know
You're counting days on the back of your hands
You turn the pages 'til you have no more plans
The only time you had to think of all the things involved
Came when you were least expecting
And now it's up to us to replace it
To tell us when ages have made a difference
Cause changes tell just who we are
We change as we get older
We're not to stay
The days we walked are over
Now we just drive away
From everything I know
You're counting days on the back of your hands
You turn the pages
Now we're just miles away
From all that we could be
You're counting days on the back of your hands
We turn the pages
Remember the days you've counted won't be forgotten
I hope you won't leave yourself out
When we turn the pages x2
Now we just drive away
From everything I know
You're counting days on the back of your hands
We turn the pages
Now we're just miles away
From all that we could be
You're counting days on the back of your hands
We turn the pages
Knock, Knock...
Anyone home?
Suppose not...
Oh well...
PH
It was lovely to read you. I am sorry you were not given the opportunity to talk to your friends here because of the shit that was going on. But there you go!
I understand exactly how you are feeling. My second brother died in September and I think the numbness is just beginning to fade now and it is not good.
However as angry as I am about it all I can just about acknowledge the blessings I have: great friends; the fact that my brother could have lasted another few weeks/months but would have been addled with morphine and not know where he was but thankfully he was lucid and really only had two weeks of incapacity before he died; that in the last 5 days there was one day when he was incredibly well (he had cancer)and we laughed and laughed. Priceless!
You and I have spoken before but not for a very long time as this year has just been desperate. I have read here now and again but have been unable to contribute. I will contact you directly on your blog PH sometime when I feel able. But know that you really are a fabulous person.
Be strong.
You are absolutely right about PH, anon. She is extraodinary. Courage and the best to both of you.
Thank you kindly.
done goofing off on the internet, time to do some work. *sigh*
anon, i, too, agree with you about paperheart. she's a remarkable young woman.
also, it's wonderful that you had that memorable day with your brother. joking around with my dad during his last days is one of my treasured memeories, even though he was bedridden and so weak...but his personality was a bright as ever, and that's the gift that has stayed with me.
good to read you here.
and now! time to fill some fabric orders!
see you later, blog.
ciao, mayo!
Ladybug storm outside!
The snow is gone, it's 15 degrees out and I just went out to treat the habaneros for aphids before they stay in for the season. (Lucky things, they'd already been ravaged for almost 3 weeks. Poor little plants.)
However, seems I don't need to use the chemicals at all, there's ladybugs all over my patio and the deck, and they're climbing up the walls of the house like they're all named Ting and they're trying to get the scarf at the top of the village tree. I counted about thirty.
So I just hunted a bunch of ladybugs out of the leafmould and warmed them up and started spreading them out all over the houseplants. I daresay by tonight, there won't be an aphid between them, and hopefully *crosses fingers* they'll stay with us in the house for awhile.
Hello my lil goobers..heres something awesome for ya
:)
It's not my time, I'm not going
There's a fear in me, it's not showing
This could be the end of me
And everything I know
But it's not my time, I'm not going
There's a will in me and now I know that
This could be the end of me
And everything I know, ooh, but I won't go!
I won't go!
There might be more than you believe
There might be more than you can see...
So hold me when I'm here
Right me when I'm wrong
Hold me when I'm scared
And love me when I'm gone
Everything I am
And everything in me
Wants to be the one
You wanted me to be
I'll never let you down
Even if I could
I'd give up everything
If only for your good
So hold me when I'm here
Right me when I'm wrong
You can hold me when I'm scared
You won't always be there
So love me when I'm gone
Love me when I'm gone...
Ugh.
Second batch of sugar cookies, and I'm still seriously unimpressed.
I just don't like crispy cookies I guess. :/
good morning!
wow on the ladybirds O_O
had a really lovely dinner last night, perfectly cooked steak, seafood, garlic potatoes, wine all on a deck overlooking the river
8sigh*
can't beat it!
hope everyone is well :]
Zombie Band report
This just in...
Well Z-Gee and Pale Gee were last seen heading back to Halloween Land to gather up the rest of the zombies to help in the search for Z-Frank.
But being guys (dead or not) they refused to ask directions and became hopelessly lost.
Suddenly the came upon a huge castle. Pale Gee was excited.
castle
"Wow, look at that. Cool castle let's stop in there and ask if anyone has seen your zombie friend"
"No way, dude." Z-Gee said shaking his head. "I’ve heard about that place. It's Story Book land. Place is full of fairies, elves and shit."
This only made Pale Gee want to go there more. They moved closer and saw the story being played out at the moment.
"Peter Pan." Pale Gee muttered losing some of his enthusiasm.
Z-Gee gave him a confused look. “Got a problem with that story?”
Pale Gee didn’t answer only sighed.
“So I take it this means we are gonna go on and not ask if anyone has seen Z-Frank?”
“No, as long as we’re here we should ask.” Pale Gee said sadly.
Z-Gee still wasn’t convinced it was a good idea. “Man, I’ve heard you can’t even get in there if you’re not some story book character.”
Pale Gee sighed again, “Don’t worry. I can get in and ask around.”
Z-Gee narrowed his eyes, “You can do that? How the hell as you gonna do that? You don’t look like any story book character I’ve ever seen.”
“I got this one.” Pale Gee assured him. “Trust me.”
Soon Pale Gee was inside the story and in character. (You all know where this is going right?)
Peter Pan in charge
There he was in character, feeling sassy and showing off his sword. All in the quest for information. Alas no one had seen a tattooed zombie. Matter of fact they assured him they would remember if they had. It was with a heavy heart Pale Gee left Story Book land and returned to the entrance where Z-Gee waited smoking a cigarette.
“I take it you didn’t find out anything useful?” Z-Gee asked.
Pale Gee smiled, “Found out I can still fly.”
Z-Gee shook his head. “Shit, you are weird. Come on let’s get going. I think I know which way we need to go.”
They set out not knowing that the rest of the Zombie Band was still in great peril. Or were they?
YAY!!!
oh elena, that is wonderful :D
love the "in character" pic
hope you are feeling better today
Greetings and Salutations visitors of Blogvania!
Filled with the Halloween Spirit (and lots of fruit flavored tea) I wish the remainder of October proves to be splendid for us all!
Taking caffeinated self away from computer now before further embarrassment attained.
