Crossing-over

I am certain that when I die I will become dirt. It would be nice to consider that upon my death golden open arms will greet me, enfolding me into them like a lost child finally returned home, but that’s not how I think. Never has been. It is completely incomprehensible for me to consider that once my life is over I will hang out watching the goings on down at earth while white silk draped, halo wearing, beings circle my head before diving down to intervene in someone or another’s life.

But, I can see the appeal.

And I am relatively certain I won’t burn in eternal damnation, either. Although that option is better suited to my personality and preferential if in fact my theory fails.

What motivates me is here and now...in what I intend as a reciprocal exchange.

This reminds me to ask myself “why am I even here?” I suppose one purpose is to procreate, to replenish human stock while in turn passing on my unique, somewhat maladaptive, genetic map to ensure the future of our type. But, at our current population rate, I do not see human extinction as a concern (that is not to say we won’t run out of natural resources thereby resulting in human extinction through overpopulation). So, as many population experts suggest, I will only replace myself. Although, it was never something I gave much thought.

So, why then? I have no other and a million ideas.

And, I do have considerations beyond the here and now; I get a kick out of the prospect that my progeny might proffer our future world. That, and who will take care of me when I can no longer find my ass?

I hope that I am doing a good job, that all my experience, everything that I have to give, and all that I create proves worthy beyond my own value. I want there to be some “take-away” meaning from how I live. And when I die the only “place” I want to spend eternity is ardently recalled in the generous conversation of my family and friends.

p.s. prosperous just like him.

Tired thirds, excellent thinking Elena.

That's cool with me Ergo, so long as he keeps them crossed. Oh maybe not, or you couldn't sit there. Ah well.

Tcohe Colony made me thinks of ants. Then I read 'kidney stone'. That must be painful stuff. I wonder if it's more painfuul than giving birth though, without meds.

Which Mayo leg do you want? Right or left?

ergoproxy said...

umm no, not seen that show, sounds odd though

I did see one, I think is asia somewhere, not sure what it was called, where a guy deliberately ate stuff he knew would give him worms, then ran into the bushes, passed them, rinsed them off and showed the camera

anon, we'll give Mayo a lap blanket, that way there's no danger. And he'd probably need one to keep him warm, don't want him getting a chill in his kidneys

elena said...

I gave birth without any meds. Don't think anything could be more painful.

Actually I did it twice. And that second time the baby was over 10 lbs.

I know pain!!!!

ergoproxy said...

right one elena, left ok with you?

elena said...

Yes Ergo we must keep Mayo warm. Don't want him getting a chill.

starbucks anon said...

Yes, a nice warm blanket and coffee all round.
And chocolate covered strawberries, of course.
Sounds good. We're only missing one person now lol.

elena said...

yep left is fine.

Mayo, I promise to be gentle on that left leg. Don't want to hurt those brittle bones.

starbucks anon said...

Me too Elena. The first time I thought I was being brave and by the time I realized that was stupid it was too late. The second time there just wasn't enough time.

I think I got told to hush at one point. Not a smart move towards a woman who feels like she's dying already :p.

ergoproxy said...

maybe if we get it all ready...like building a baseball diamond

elena said...

Does that make a Mayo home plate?

starbucks anon said...

And slippers Mayo? You need slippers to keep your feet warm, too.

elena said...

Starbucks Anon

I agree telling a woman who is giving birth to hush is a grave mistake.

I tried to bite Mr Elena who was holding my hand at the time. I almost got him. LOL

Ah yes, it was Field of Dreams, no?

elena said...

SBanon

I told Mr Elena he better never touch me again.

So he didn't listen because that happened during the first birth. LOL

SBanon said...

Lol Elena. One minute/few seconds too late! I haven't seen it in forever. It's a real place? Not like, a field of dreams, but the area? I can hardly remember a thing about it except for that line.

And starbucks anon was too long to keep writing.

elena said...

side note

I knew I was preggers the second time when I watched Field of Dreams and started crying when he said

"Dad wanna have a catch?"

SBanon said...

Ha, I think we all say that at some point :p never lasts.

ergoproxy said...

that's it!

lol I think birth is a perfect excuse to attack anyone

I didn't have the opportunity, bit hard when you're on your back numb from the chest down, but good tip DON"T LOOK INTO THE BIG LIGHTS, they reflect everything happening to your insides

elena said...

Yep Field of Dreams is a real place in Iowa. The house and field used in the filming are there.

SBanon said...

Jeez I think almost everything made me cry when I was pregnant. Was ridiculous.

Amyranth said...

DON"T LOOK INTO THE BIG LIGHTS, they reflect everything happening to your insides

Wise words. Along with "If they don't cut you, you'll rip." and "YOU BASTARD, WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?!!??!"

*swirls her glass of scotch*

elena said...

So what is gonna Mayo read to us?

SBanon said...

Oh that's lovely Elena, how come you didn't end up going?

Shit, Ergo that must be scary. Don't they have a whole partition thing up so you're not meant to see? Those big lamps kind of make that pointless then :(

It's an amazing excuse to say a ton of things you wouldn't normally.

SBanon said...

Well if we wait for him to choose it may take a while. I don't know though, any ideas Ergo?

Hello Amy.

elena said...

Hey Amy

Sorry Mayo is out of legs but maybe SBanon will share the blanket

Amyranth said...

Hallo SBAnon, Elena and Ergo!

Anyone else waylaid that I haven't seen yet?

Also, it's 32 frigging degrees out here, so you guys can have my extra blanket. I'm trying to cool down with an iced tea.

What did everyone do today?

SBanon said...

Hmm. I will share with Amy. We can hug a leg each.

(Gotta leave the scotch in your room though, k?)

How about War and Peace? It will be the longest story reading in the comfort of Mayo of all time. Or, maybe something a little more enjoyable.

ergoproxy said...

hello Amy

it's 9:30am and already 26C in the shade
but at least we aren't covered in dust

what can he read?
You know what I haven't read for ages and was thinking about digging out? Day of the Triffids

SBanon said...

I had to go to a parents evening. And I cooked fajitas. Completely uninteresting.

You Amy?

SBanon said...

Seen it, never read it. The book is better I should imagine, and having it read aloud would be interesting.

Amyranth said...

A non-issue SB.

A story huh? What kind of story?

I vote for a Terry Pratchett-esque yarn.

SBanon said...

Oh

oh

Or The Stand? Mabye if there's time for more and Mayo's up to it? That always creeps me out.

Amyranth said...

Lesse... I worked, picked up supper so I wouldn't have to cook, and I've been bumming around the house ever since.

Not really exciting. Except that at work I helped a lady work on her wedding bouquet, and it turned out beautifully.

ergoproxy said...

Soooo, I vote for Gone With The Wind.

SBanon said...

Awesome Amy, nono, no issue just *whispers* for Mr. M y'know?

Glad you're joining us :)

I did realize what I said was punalicious Elena, but it was unintentional, lol. Huh, I think Mayo's going to need a lot of coffee to read everything. Maybe it should be on a weekly basis.

Ergo, just a shame they're not paintings.

SBanon said...

GOOD LUCK ELENA!

Amyranth said...

Ergo, those pictures are beautiful, and yet terrifying. Mister just came up behind me and said "Hey! EROSION."

Elena, you can do it~!

ergoproxy said...

I think Mayo should make it a regular event, I mean he can't read a bit of story then leave us wondering what happened for days, we can take turns making starbucks runs

amy erosion is an understatement! the volume of soil must be incredible

they would make beautiful paintings wouldn't they SB
people wouldn't believe the colour was possible

SBanon said...

I had to look twice Amy, poked myself in the eye and it was all blurry. Blurry eyes do not read EROSION as EROSION.

ergoproxy said...

GOOD LUCK ELENA!!!!

Amyranth said...

AHAHAHAHAHAA! Good one SB!

Ergo, it sounds like something biblical is going down under! Since you're a day ahead, I'll have to remember to bring my boots and an umbrella tomorrow.

SBanon said...

True Ergo, on all counts.

Except I think we should bring a coffee machine in. If we're still all cozy and it's late, nobody will want to get up!

SBanon said...

Well at least it's not just me who's mind was in the gutter for a moment or two there. Or three :p

Amyranth said...

SB, I think there's a coffee machine on the sidebar. Too many early mornings with Teej storming around has left me with no choice.

Ergo, has there been any trouble around your neck of the woods?

SBanon said...

I'll make sure to have one Amy, just in case.

Yes, Ergo stay safe.

I should be going too, unfortunately not to do anything as exciting as possibly winning money.

Mayo, don't get started without us or we'll have to pick an extra book and steal you for even longer.

Ergo, Amy, make sure he plays fair. Keep him warm if he drops in. Catch you later!

We will SB! See you later!

ergoproxy said...

see you SB, take care

a coffee machine would be ideal I think, everyone esp TJ would appreciate it as well

no nothing up here Amy, except it's damn hot and very dry wind
It's like summer heat already, about 10 above normal
they were going to do a control burn tomorrow afternoon on the hill here to reduce the fuel load before it dries out completely, but the state has a total fire ban so that won't be happening this week at least.
We aren't as dry as other areas yet, but the rain early I the year has caused a huge amount of growth

hows stuff over your way, apart from the heat?
What was the bouquet like?

Amyranth said...

Other than the heat, it's decent. We're waiting for October, when Mister's Sister is coming out for her birthday. We're doing a pub-style crawl for the evening, but we're all going to be dressed right up. Transported by a limo and such, it should be fun.

They used to do controlled burns in the fall here on Nose Hill, until the city got too many complaints about the smoke.

ergoproxy said...

why is it jeans and other pants rarely ever fit properly around the waist?

mayo,

spent another night looking for a place to sleep friday. it sounds like it should be easy, but with pages that take a bajillion years to load (and sometimes freeze the computer altogether), i'm feeling like i might as well just bring along a sleeping bag and find a bench. frustrating.

but today was autumn equinox, one of my holidays, the one in which i am meant to give thanks for the year's harvest (both figural and literal). i wasn't able to plan anything, i made no sacred circle, but there was a recognition of the day all the same.

today my sister had planned a new route for me to drive (my driving practices now include a portion of the night's commute, you see), one that took full advantage of the numerous backroads to give me a nice chunk of mileage.

what she didn't plan was how beautiful the route turned out to be -- sometimes through wooded tunnels, sometimes through small fields bordered by trees just beginning to turn red. at one point, the narrow country road went for awhile between dusty golden walls, a drying cornfield standing close by on either shoulder.

each curve brought a new sight -- a deer walking across the road up ahead, unstartled and unconcerned by our approach; a hawk, brown and barred, flying up across the hood of the car; and, most amazingly, a turkey vulture, picking at something in the middle of the road. i slowed, almost to a stop, knowing it would fly up and away -- but it didn't, for what reason i don't know. it stopped, and watched us from the side of its face as the car crept up to it.

finally, before the brakes could fully halt the vehicle, it pushed off the ground, its wings wide and fluid in the air, and made its retreat away through the tree trunks and across the field.

i have never been so close to a vulture before. it was astonishing.

it was halfway along these roads that i realized here was the autumn holiday spread out around me, i was engulfed by it, by the beauty and the abundance and the waning glory of it all.

and yes, i felt grateful.

and yes, i sent a prayer of thanks to my gods.

sometimes, the holidays sneak up on you, if you let them.

good night, mayo. you were in my prayers, too.

Good Morning, everyone!

GM, lovely picture, as always. The GN photo was beautiful and haunting.

Sorry to have been so far off the radar this last month, so many things going on, but after the first of Oct., it should calm down. I hope.

J. and I both are feeling better, she's still not great, but doing much better than the weekend.

Miss T.,

I think we should pool the inventory! WIth your's, mine, J.'s, and any number of sinus and allergy riddled folks here we could have the market completely cornered. What do you think, two for one specials, free gifts and free shipping for the first order, yeah, that'll do it. :)

Ergo,

Hope the dust storm has calmed there today. Safe wishes for all.

TJ,

Have you had any luck with finding a place to stay? I'm sending good luck and vibes to you. I would hate for you to have to be out on the sidewalk for the weekend!

Congrats to all the married folks with many years and not so many years behind them. I haven't gone down that road, but I haven't completely ruled it out.

Truth is, the idea of marriage scares me witless! I know it's usually the man with cold feet, but in this case it's me. I've turned down two proposols, and in hindsight they were both good decisions, so it just enforces that feeling to me. It's not that I wouldn't consider it, I would, but it would have to be someone I was deeply, deeply in love with, and it just felt RIGHT.

I joke that I would have to have a flask under my bouquet to make it down the aisle.

I'm only half joking.

By the way, my hair is back to red, this time a pomagrante color. Where it was bleached in streaks, those came out in various shades of cherry and reddish-gold. I love it! I put up a couple of pics at my blog that show it, sort of, because I wanted to do something artsy with the pics. the true color is a little bit lighter, and not so comic book looking!

When I lightened the pic of my eyes originally, I was surprised to find just how much green was lurking behind that brown. I have dark brown eyes with a greenish tinge, but it really brought out the green.

Been a while for this so...

Hello everyone

Just a quick wave from me. I'm heading to the book store now. Damn I don't wanna work today. The weather is so beautiful. Oh well.

And SBanon I'm sure you'll understand this....

I haven't had any Starbucks today. This is not good!

Oh and Mayo I promise if you come and read us a story I'll sit very still and not squirm at all. I'll even bring Starbucks for everyone.

Take care. Catch you all later.

SBanon said...

Aww, Elena, I hope there'll still be some beautiful weather left for you to enjoy when you're finished.

I do understand. I regularly go a few days without it, as much as i hate to, but in those circumstances, I have found a replacement (especially as my little old machine is on the blink right now):

Three quarters of a mug of milk-full fat tastes best, I have to say

3 or so spoons of sugar, or equivalent

healthy spoonful of hot chocolate powder (chocolate powder for baking works too)

and a good drizzle of your favorite syrup. I usually use toffee.

put in the microwave for 1minute 20, take it out and stir it really well and oh my, it's rather heavenly. Providing you like a mocha, of course, and can bear to use instant for it.

MissTottenham said...

Hiya guys, how are you all?

Miss T, if you and L and I pool our inventory, we should be able to supply an entire platoon. O_o

LOL OPJ and OPL, you are welcome to it. Where do I post it to hahaha!

Hello SBanon, how are you sweetie?

LOL Ergo, that's a good idea. Pop your carpet python in the post. We'll try anything.

Thanks WYWH. I hope we get rid of them soon cos mum is starting to get on my nerves. It's getting to the point where I'd rather be in the same room as the rats cos she just keeps going on and on about them.

As for the rats, The guy from the council put down some of their poison and they have to come back in 10 days to see how it's going.

I'm not scared of them so I'd be happy to lay a humane trap but mum is freaking out big time. We are putting our poison down each day too.

The little furry things are scoffing the poison as though it's fantastic grub we are giving them. They are loving it and it must be filling a hole cos they are not looking for other food. There's no more droppings.

Oh well, as long as they stay out of sight until they kick the bucket. I might get some peace from mum then.

Oh well, wish us luck.

I'm off to bed early. Mum woke at stupid o clock cos she'd fused the lights and wasn't prepared to go to the fuse box in the dark with rats around. I swear now our house is lit up like the blackpool illuminations.

Nighty night everyone xxxx

Wish you were here said...

Miss T,

have you tried the sticky pad things? They work for mice but I'm not sure if they do a larger size for rats. You can put the poison, or whatever they'll eat, in the middle of the 'paper' or put the paper in the path of where you think they're coming from, and it's so sticky that when they walk on it they stick to it. Permanently. You have to then dispose of them in some way, but they won't be running around derranged and dying when you least expect it. Had that happen when we used poison and it wasn't exactly pleasant.

Good luck though, hopefully they'll be gone soon! And goodnight, sleep well :)

elena said...

SBanon that sounds so good. I'll have to try that. I'm sitting here at the store right now wondering if I should just pop a note on the door that says I'll be right back and head over to Starbucks. Maybe....

Good to see you MissT. Hope the rat problem clears up soon. The fact that we have cats keeps the little furry buggers away for us.

Hi Elena, Hi Ergo :)

Sometimes life gives you lemons, Elena, and if you give them back and say, "I want ice cream!" you end up disappointed, but if you just learn to make lemonade, things turn out okay.

or

Wasn't too good, tried to argue it out-failed. Gave in and dealt-felt better :). Though, I do like lemons.

How are things with you? Apart from obviously being without Starbucks. Do you think anyone'll notice if you popped out for a bit? They should deliver, would solve a lot of problems.

Lol, Ergo, I've never had a cat whilst having sticky pads down, but it makes sense they'd be large enough to get free of them. Poor kitties, that can't feel too nice :). I was wondering the same about the effectiveness of pads with rats. Just had a quick check though, can't find any pads specific to rats, so perhaps you're right.

Wish you were here said...

Ergo, that's mean, lol.

I do want my Starbuck but there are customers in the store right now. Maybe if I offered them some free books they would go get me some coffee...

Wish you were here said...

lol, that's a great idea.

"Yeah, I'll serve you, but you gotta bring me coffee."

Actually, you know, if I went into a shop and someone said that and really looked like they needed it, I'd probably do it. You could get lucky, you never know. Or will you get a break so you can make a dash for it?

ergoproxy said...

I can't actually get to a SB but I have the coffee and a french press, so it's nearly the same, lol

tasted lovely :]

yeah rats would probably walk about, though it'd slow them down. I prefer it to using poison in the house, we put that up in the shed where the cats don't go, but the cats don't like the sticky pads, getting them off the cat is the hard part, one ended up with sticky pad, sock and christmas card on his back leg.
had to actually get the scissors to remove him from it, it wasn't pretty , but it was damn funny.
I put them where the cats don't fit now if we get mice.

ergoproxy said...

my internet is fading in and out, damn dust!!

only 1/2 hour to go then I close.

Starbucks...Wait of me. I'll be there....

I was just over at Twitter. Holy crap there are some weird people out there.

Hallo Everyone!!

L, if you can get a copy of Wyrd Sisters, you can start with that, or the very first Discworld book - The Color of Magic is good too.

Be back in a bit everyone!

Fuckity fuck fuck, fuckers.

My best friend is having a shitty week and I just got the brunt of it.

Her grandmother has 7 brain tumors, and an infection in the lining of her brain cavity. She's not expected to see the end of the month, and my friend is stuck in the states.

Then, she decided to use Hartz Flea and Tick drops on her two cats before a bath, to help get rid of the fleas, and she ended up with two cats that have Permethrin Poisoning. The cats seem to be doing okay right now, but she recommended them to her mother-in-law, who used them on her cat, with not such great effects. Her MIL's cat is in the vet's in serious condition, and she's beating herself up pretty badly right now.

I gotta say, the shitty feeling is easy to pass along when you think about it.

So Gramps what ya gonna read? I’m hoping it’s an original story. Maybe a scary one? Ergo and I are all really to settle down on you lap while you read to us. Hell all us lovelies and some nice anons are ready. (if you have no idea what the hell I’m talking about…dude read back)

Anyway, I thought I better post this while I had a chance. I’m getting to ready to go watch some terrible movies and I’m not sure I’ll make it back here tonight. I’m not sure I’ll make it up the hill to the house. LOL Okay, alcohol may or may not be involved.

So take care of yourself, have a great tomorrow and be thinking about what story you’re gonna read to us. Hey, maybe we can all get into character. You know, play dress up? That could be fun. I have lots of costumes. (don’t ask why)

See ya Mayo. Take care.

Night

Elena (I had something really funny to put here but decided I better not)

a lot of people stayed indoors, especially those with allergies, that was the only hazard it seems ,they treated a few hundred people and everyone recovered.
My mum though was delayed for 7 hours flying home, and had to hold over the airport (which rarely ever happens) and my aunt was delayed 1 1/2 hrs flying the opposite way

toujours said...

did they know it was because of the dust? that would be freaky, even if you did know.

ergoproxy said...

sorry got waylaid

yep they knew it was because of the dust, sydney is a major airport so because it was out of action for a lot of the morning it put every other airport out as well
annoying though

toujours said...

time for me to head off to bed -- good night, ergo!

hey, sorry about that! if i had waited just a minute longer, i wouldn't have tromped all over your comment.

good talking with you. have a good rest of the day.

mayo,

so i was poking around at lunch, printing out google maps for my plans friday, and looking at the website for roosevelt island. i was very excited to discover that the home my ancestors built is still standing! i can't wait to see it, to be in the presence of something created by them, to connect across the generations through wood and brick and glass.

we moved around a lot when i was a kid -- not as much as a kid raised in the military! -- but my dad was always looking for the next challenge, always looking for greener pastures.

so i didn't grow up around family. my grandparents all lived in other states. i never really felt the lack, they stayed in touch through packages and holiday phone calls (having the ups guy come to the door is still something exciting *grin*). i didn't realize that other people saw their grandparents all the time, or hung out with cousins.

also, what family awareness i did manage to have growing up was heavy on the maternal side. i grew up disconnected from my father's side of the family (and divorce only made matters worse).

i didn't even question any of it until i became an adult, and then i began to realize how pervasive the maternal emphasis was, and how much that had contributed to my alienation. i am my father's daughter, after all. claiming him and his side of the family made me feel like i had a place for the very first time.

and the genealogy even more so. when i think about my ancestors, i no longer feel like an aberration. i'm their daughter. i belong to them.

and this will be the first time i'll get to encounter anything of theirs, beyond their names and dates on my charts.

it's going to be amazing.

good night, mayo. i don't know how much internet access i'll have this weekend, so you might not hear from me until i get back. have a good weekend, the kind that leaves you feeling solidly embraced by the ones you love.

see you next week!

ergoproxy said...

thanks TJ sweet dreams

I probably won't see you tomorrow though so have a great next few days too, and hope you have a fantastic weekend!! :]

By JUSTIN LAHART

Children born in the winter months already have a few strikes against them. Study after study has shown that they test poorly, don't get as far in school, earn less, are less healthy, and don't live as long as children born at other times of year. Researchers have spent years documenting the effect and trying to understand it.

But economists Kasey Buckles and Daniel Hungerman at the University of Notre Dame may have uncovered an overlooked explanation for why season of birth matters.

...

Other researchers have suggested other reasons for season-of-birth differences. Maybe vitamin D was playing a role, for example, because children born in the winter were getting less sunshine in early life. Or maybe being put in the same school year with children who are mostly younger makes children born in the winter less socially mature. A study published in the medical journal Acta Pædriatica in April found that children born in the winter have higher birth-defect rates and suggested it was due to a higher concentration of pesticides in surface water in the spring and summer, when the children were conceived.

There may be validity to all of that research. But if there was any truth to the pattern that Ms. Buckles and Mr. Hungerman discovered, it would question the weightiness of other factors from past research. If winter babies were more likely to come from less-privileged families, it would be natural to expect them to do more poorly in life.

The two economists examined birth-certificate data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 52 million children born between 1989 and 2001, which represents virtually all of the births in the U.S. during those years. The same pattern kept turning up: The percentage of children born to unwed mothers, teenage mothers and mothers who hadn't completed high school kept peaking in January every year. Over the 13-year period, for example, 13.2% of January births were to teen mothers, compared with 12% in May -- a small but statistically significant difference, they say.

well, after watching "Braniac, Science Abuse" (yeah so it's hosted by Richard Hammond, but honest, I watch it for the articles ;])

we apologise for any inconvenience

So it really doesn't give them a workout?! Well.

Ok, show's over! Move on...

Have a good weekend too, Miss T. We may have to find an alternative source for the snot inventory. J. and I are not producing near as much as we were. I'll check around.

TJ, Have a great time and be safe. Give us trip updates if you can!

Mayo, S.S., Elena, Wendy, Amyranth, Ergo, Wish, SB, Martha, Cupcake, Possum, Lewis, B.C., anons, lurkers and anyone else I missed...Hey!

ergoproxy said...

hello L!

yeah just when we had the posters all printed up too
damn shame

Original Punk L said...

Now, just what was it we had put on the posters?

I thought they got quite a workout, with all the neckstraining and dodging walls.

Original Punk L said...

Years ago, I wore a dress with a Queen Anne neckline to an Italian restaurant, and I am generously blessed, if you will, up top. Poor waiter was a mess. J. told me that when I got up to go to the restroom, he was serving another table across the way, and never dropped eyes from where the neckline was!

He then politely walked straight into a marble column.

Amyranth said...

L, at least he was polite about it.

I'm not generously blessed with anything, and I still get the standard "HEY BABY!".

Joke's on them. I'm not a baby. :P

Be back in a bit.

hahahahahahaha

oh yes, it's definitely a way to catch a man's eyes

Original Punk L said...

True, he seemed to recover. He wasn't head injured when he came back to the table.

Lacey, you're very pretty, so you are blessed anyway!

Ergo, it does. I read a bit by Dave Barry once that said it was physically impossible for a man to think straight when confronted with naked or near naked bosums.

Original Punk L said...

Have to cook supper. Catch you guys later!

but
I have a little while now, so how are you both?
good to hear the sinus is clearing up J

Original Punk J said...

BC, I did some work for our eBay "store" today, measuring and recording info.

Is something going on? Did you want to talk about anything? You know I'm here if you do.

Hey Ergo! Hideously busy, hmm. How's the nasty weather going along? All cleared up yet?

Anonymous said...

J, thanks, but it's okay, just something that I gotta deal with.

Hey ergo, doing okay right now thanks. Is the weather any better over there?

Original Punk J said...

OH! I know what I was gonna ask y'all: have either of you seen Frank's latest, um, artistic offering on Twitter?

ergoproxy said...

it's sure....artistic ...isn't it LOL

the dust has cleared up, which is nice, sky is it's normal blue again, huge clean up for the cities down south though, incredible tonnes of soil fell

Amyranth said...

J, can you tell L I keep having this thought of her in an Elizabethan collar? I don't know why, because she had a Queen Anne neckline, but whatever.

Hey everyone.

Anonymous said...

J, I follow a lot of bands, but not them.

What does this artistic 'offering' look like?

*raises eyebrows*

ergoproxy said...

hi Amy!

Anonymous said...

Hey there Amy, how you're doing? I'm sorry to hear about your friend's grandma

Original Punk J said...

Glad to hear the sky looks normal, Ergo, but too bad for the southern cities. How much damage was sustained?

I decided to enable Frank's artistic endeavors; part of his birthday present is a sketch pad and a 96-count box of Crayolas. ;) The kind with the sharpener.

Hey Amy! L said that it's going to be part of her ball gown. She said she'll look like the Queen of Hearts. ;D

BC, you have to see it, mere words cannot capture the essence of the picture. You can check his Twitter through mine or you can go through the MCR website. Go look.

Anonymous said...

J, I'll probably do that right now. Brb!

Original Punk J said...

Amy, I'm sorry about your best friend's grandmother. That's just terrible news. And her poor cats on top of that, and her MIL's cat. How are they, by the way?

Amyranth said...

Hey BC and Ergo!

I'm not bad thanks! Sadly, I haven't heard anything else from my friend since the grandma/cat incident this past couple of days. Really, REALLY shitty week. :(

ergoproxy said...

no damage J everything is just dirty
so good in a way

I have to zot off again, probably won't be back until late tonight so I'll say "take care, sweet dreams and have a great tomorrow" :]

see ya!

Anonymous said...

See you later ergo.

J, I've seen the pictures X_X

Original Punk J said...

Bye and goodnight, Ergo! Have a good--but busy--weekend! Pop in when you can.

Amyranth said...

Nothing new yet J. Except that on her FB status, she reprinted the Hartz Flea Drops warnings, and it may cause "sensitivity from skin rashes...... including death."

Bastards.

Original Punk J said...

Words fail, don't they, BC?

I don't know if he's bored, or if alcohol was involved. Hey, at least it keeps him off the streets...

Gotta say, he's got a great sense of humor. And he's not a bad artist, skill-wise. I think my favorites so far are the lobster and the whale.

Original Punk J said...

That sounds like an excellent reason to boycott Hartz and either write letters or make phone calls requesting a recall. What the Hell are they doing selling that kind of product?

Anonymous said...

Lol, they do J. Honestly, he draws better than me. I can only draw stick people and shitty looking hearts!

Hahaha

Original Punk J said...

I can draw trees. Like, big leafy oak trees. And little round animals, like cats or bunnies. Sort of along the lines of his big bird with the pipe, only much smaller.

That's the extent of my drawing capability.

I can sing, but I can't dance worth shit. Drawing's out; writing's decent. As for sports? Oh my, no. Can't play anything.

Amyranth said...

J, it also sounds like an excellent reason to burn down the building. Or launch a lawsuit.

Nowadays, selling a product that can knowingly kill a family pet is tantamount to murder. Those fuckers.

Okay, I'm being torn away. Mister's trying to get a hold of his sister to work out the last minute plans for her big bash weekend after next. She won't call us because it costs too much, but he can boot me from the pluter to talk to her? Gr. :B

Okay, say goodnight Amy.

Goodnight!

-A

Original Punk J said...

Goodnight Amy, it was good to talk with you even for a little while. See you later!

Kapunua said...

To the SWA Anon,

Hey there, how are you? I wonder if you're still around. I was thinking about you today. (Actually I was thinking of a few of the nice anons I used to talk to here. I used to wonder so often who you all were. Admittedly I once thought that Mayo was Calaf; not the flirty one, but the dry one. ^_^ And possibly one of the Shakespeare anons. Boy, I miss you guys sometimes. So, hello to all of you as well.)

But this is specifically to the SWA because of something that happened that meant a lot to me.

On Monday, my brother came to visit. We sat with my Mom for a good few hours and we all cried our faces pretty much off, but it wasn't like that the whole time. A little history: My brother was an avid martial artist for a long time; he has mad blackbelts in different Japanese martial arts. And in case you didn't know, our Dad was a martial artist too. In the 40's he was an undefeated boxer. Well anyway, my brother is also a devout Buddhist and aside from that he puts a lot of thought into the Bushido.

Well anyway, to cut a long story short, he gave me his katana set. With them, he wrote me a letter (I put a copy of it in my blog, the link I just made,) about the Way of the Warrior. A warrior must have, "Wisdom, courage, honor, integrity, compassion, and humility," and, "a sword in the hands of a coward is useless" among other things. He honored me more than I can say.

I drove him to the train station and we were talking about where life is going to go next, without Dad. We're having a really hard time dealing with this sometimes. Most times, in fact. But my brother said to me, "You'll be okay though. I gave you my swords, but really, you are a sword."

Anyway, SWA it made me think of you because back in the early days of this blog you used to be on a lot, and you used to say that Solly was the heart of the blog, and I was the sword of the blog. I thought it odd that there's more than one person who thinks that. :)

Well, I hope you're both right. I hope I can live up to that and do what needs to be done.

I also hope you're doing well.

That goes for you too, Mayo, (I want you to know I think of you every time I read a science article that touches on the nature of light, and oh by the way, I recently read Six Easy Pieces by Feynman and I can't recommend it highly enough. Any of his books really. You might enjoy them....) you too, SS, and Calaf, Shakespeare anons, and all the other nice anons as well. Hope you guys are all doing great.
