Set to self-destruct.

The saddest girl
In the whole world
Sits in thirty day
Thinks she owns it.
Models herself a pro
With every word just so
Crack answers for everything
And a lie to keep you guessing
Is she real or just made-up.

She says she's lost her life
And can't tell where to find it.
So she sold her soul for the high
Of the sweet synthetic lullaby.
Where's the bottom when you need it?

The saddest girl
In the whole world
Just told the doctor she's fine
The problem isn't mine
"It's them." and they've ruined me
And all that I could ever be.
So now she has a new disguise
and half-way covers her eyes
with a crystal crooked crown
Slipping just missing her frown.

She says she's lost her life
And can't tell where to find it.
So she sold her soul for the high
Of the sweet synthetic lullaby.
Where's the bottom when you need it?

She used to be a little girl
The sweetest you've ever seen.
Now she's just a tracing
Of a near broke beauty queen.

mayo,

this week i've been working with a teenager -- my boss's granddaughter has been helping out at the shop. she's fun to work with, we get along very well -- maybe too well!

i'll never have kids. i was thinking about that today, wondering what happens to a person when they become a parent. i think it must be something, a definite crossing of a threshold in one's heart and mind. maybe you stop being the center of your own world? i can only guess.

i was watching my boss interacting with her grandchild and comparing it to how the girl and i were together, how differently we interacted with her.

for most of my life i havn't wanted to be a mom, it just wasn't one of the things i saw for myself. but lately, i can see the value of that path, the one i never even considered taking. even so, it will always only be something i observe from the outside, only something for me to imagine.

and maybe it means that i'll never truly grow up. i don't know.

but it's fun working with her, the little monkey. *grin*

good night mayo. sweet dreams.

Mayo

So earlier I was suffering a crisis. I couldn’t find my cell phone. Now the bad thing is I should have realized much earlier in the evening that is was gone. See I came home from work and sat down to write. I haven’t gotten to do that in a while and well…I start to twitch if too much time goes by and I haven’t written anything. Anyway I wrote for hours and no one disturbed me. It was great but then as it grew later and it was time for me to hear from my daughters I realized the phone was AWOL. At first I didn’t panic. I thought I had just left it in the car. But nope, it wasn’t there. It wasn’t there the first time I looked or the sixth time I looked. So when Stormy came home I had her dial my number. (I’m totally skipping the whole “oh shit not one of the damn landlines in this house works”) part. Well she dialed it and it went directly to voice mail. I assumed that meant the battery had gone dead. That is one of my biggest gripes about the Instinct. The damn think drains the battery so quickly. Anyway I sat down and started to play the “retrace my steps” game. I knew I had the phone when I left the bookstore. I knew I had it when I stopped for groceries because I had it in my back pocket and didn’t realize that until I stopped for a Diet Cherry Dr Pepper. I remember this because at the time I hoped I hadn’t butt called anyone. So I remembered taking it out of my pocket and putting it on the passenger seat. Now came the fuzzy part. I thought I remembered picking it up with my cigarettes and lighter. I thought I remembered carrying those items in one hand and the groceries in the other. But if that was right then my phone should have been on my desk with the cigarettes. It wasn’t. I know this because I tore my desk apart. I even looked in the fridge to make sure I hadn’t put the phone in the crisper drawer with the lettuce. This may sound strange but once my grandma actually came home and, because she was in a hurry to make it look like she’s been home all day before grandpa got there, she put a frozen chicken in her drawer and her purse in the fridge. See, I inherited my crazy! Well as you may have guessed, the phone wasn’t in the fridge. So I sat down feeling very upset then suddenly a thought came to me. What if I’d dropped the phone on the way in the house? Now dropping the phone isn’t all that bad of a thought mostly because I do it often. The bad part of this theory was that if I did indeed drop the phone there was a good chance Jake might have found it. So armed with a flashlight I headed out into the yard. It wasn’t on the ground from the car to the deck. Slowly I started walking out into the yard. Now we have a huge yard, and lots of property so if Jake did get it I was thinking it could be anywhere. However I know Jake and he is a creature of habit. There is one area of the yard he likes to take his toys. An area where he enjoys chewing up his toys. You see where this is going, don’t you Mayo? Yep, there laying in three pieces was my phone. And to add insult to injury the grass is wet with dew so the phone was soaked not only with dog slobber. So I grabbed up the main part of the phone, the back and the battery. Took them inside, (passing Jake who looked like he wondered why I was taking his things) and dried them off. Surprisingly the phone still works. Not surprisingly it looks a bit different now. Yes, my phone is customized with bite marks all over it. I’m not sure if the insurance covers wild dog attacks. Hell I’ll probably just keep it and make up a nice story to go along with it. …."There I was minding my own business when a pack of wild dogs appeared”. Yeah, maybe that’s what I’ll do.

Well Mayo I hope you had no cell phone catastrophes today. Hope things in your world just hummed along. Take care.

Night Mayo

~~"Baby, my heart is full of love and desire for you
Now come on down and do what you gotta do..."
~~

*someone should really record that song in a "metal" way*

:P

Hello Mayo, SS, Mya, Ergo, TJ, Elena, Sweetcheeks, Amy, J, L, Lewis, MissT, Loveman, anons and lurkers!!!

How are you all tonight? I know. I always ask the same old question. I'm sorry; but, I really do want to know how everyone is doing!

Me? I'm great! Thanks (myself) for asking. I'm trying to learn to "play by the rules". It's not working so well.

Oh well, not playing by the rules can be quite satisfactory, sometimes... and lots of fun too!
:P

Besides... I get to see Jane's Addiction at Voodoo Fest so :P again!
;)

*apologies, once again... since some of you won't know what the heck that means*

One word: TWITTER

It's great (and lots of fun too)!!!!

I've been feeling a bit nostalgic. I miss the days of quizzes. So, here is a little quiz for anyone who cares to play along!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Sweetcheeks: YOU might like this one!)
WARNING: This quiz may be difficult for some folks. Keep away from children and those not familiar and/or into METAL!
1. Who is the older brother of Crowbar's/Black Label Society's drummer, Craig Nunenmacher?
2. How did Craig get the job as Black Label Society's drummer?
3. What bands does his older brother play with (ummm... as a guitarist)?
:P
4. What is the title of Black Label Society's song tribute to Dimebag (Darrell Abbott)?
5. Who is Dimebag's brother and with what band does he currently play (as a member)?
6. Name two other bands ~ besides Pantera ~ in which Dime was a member.
Bonus question:
7. Who was the winner of 2004's Metal Hammer Golden God award (for Golden God of the year)?
*please feel free to use google*
Have a great night, everyone!
Sweet dreams to one and all!
Hugs and Love,
Morning Blog
Well it's a cool and very rainy day here. Maybe the weather will get all the rain out of its system before tomorrow. LOL I really hope so.
Have a great day everyone.
Good Morning, Elena!
I'm about to head up to the lake, get some sun, have a few cold refreshments, etc.
I'm going to try my best to have a good time, even though I am so torn up over still not hearing back from the Beach Troll... LOL!
Funny thing is - I actually had that type of gut reaction to him that day I met him. He came on rather quickly, for one thing. At one point, I actually asked him, "So, what do you do? Other than making the rounds of beach bars and looking for women to pick up?" Ha Ha! Yes, I did!
Anyway, I really am sort of disappointed that I haven't heard from him again. Really, I am! Because I'd love to zing his ass again! Tee Hee!
OK, gotta go smear on the sunscreen and pack my cooler!
See ya later!
Hi PJ and all numbered folks!
Anon616 said...
11:35 ~ Thank you for that question!!! I don't think there's one song that I don't love dancing to! At least, I can't ever remember hearing one sone that didn't make me want to jump up and dance! Seriously, I can't think of one song that doesn't make me want to dance.
Some of my personal favorites to dance:
Slowride by Foghat, Mony Mony by Tommy James, Feel Like Making Love by Bad Company, anything by Dusty Springfield, Closer by NIN, Cherry Cherry and Kentucky Woman by Neil Diamond, anything by KOL, Bon Jovi, HIM, Elvis, GnR, Disturbed, Mastodon, Cheap Trick, RATT, Lillian AXE, Journey, White Snake, Pantera, RJA, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, SIXX A.M., Papa Roach, Hinder ...
I particulary LOVE dancing to "Crazy Bitch" by Buckcherry and Manson's version of "You Spin Me (right round baby right round)".
Oh, and:
~This one! Not just because I can see myself! :P~
Yep! I love dancing to anything!!!!
Anonymous said...
Wow miss Wendy they had colour photography and everything back then.
Anon616 said...
LOL anon!!!! They sure did! And, no doorman ever asked to see my id.
Good thing, huh?
Well, just look at that picture of me at 15. Would you have bothered asking?
;)
You wanna see some pictures of my high school graduation party? I had the best grad party ever. Held in an actual BAR!!! Thanks to my brother in law and the band he was playing with at the time!
Anon616 said...
Ohhh... and would you like to know how old my boyfriend was at the time of my high school graduation?
Well, I was 17 (could have graduated at 13, actually) he was 32! I was "into" older men until I reached the age of 21. From then on... they were all younger!
~Maybe he should look me up when he's legal. Maybe!~
:)
Anon616 said...
Okay, I re~watched that video. He should absolutely look me up when he turns 21!!! LOL!!!
I know. I'm a horrible person. I am!
hi amyranth!
toujours said...
here's the original song witht hat title, from saint-saëns's opera "samson and delilah" (i googled, what can i say?)
Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix,
comme s'ouvrent les fleurs
Aux baiser de l'aurore!
Mais, ô mon bienaimé,
pour mieux sécher mes pleurs,
Que ta voix parle encore!
Dis-moi qu'à Dalila
tu reviens pour jamais,
Redis à ma tendresse
Les serments d'autrefois,
ces serments que j'aimais!
Ah! réponds à ma tendresse!
Verse-moi, verse-moi l'ivresse!
Ainsi qu'on voit des blés
les épis onduler
Sous la brise légère,
Ainsi frémit mon coeur,
prêt à se consoler,
A ta voix qui m'est chère!
La flèche est moins rapide
à porter le trépas,
Que ne l'est ton amante
à voler dans tes bras!
Ah! réponds à ma tendresse!
Verse-moi, verse-moi l'ivresse!
and the translation:
My heart opens itself to your voice,
like the flowers open
To the kisses of the dawn!
But, o my beloved,
To dry my tears the best,
Let your voice speak again!
Tell me that to Dalila
You will return forever,
Repeat to my tenderness
The oaths of other times,
the oaths that I loved!
Ah! respond to my tenderness!
Pour out to me the drunkenness!
Like one sees the wheat
the blades undulate
Under the light breeze,
So trembles my heart,
ready to be consoled,
by your voice which is dear to me!
The arrow is less quick
to carry death,
Than is your love
to fly into thy arms!
Ah! respond to my tenderness!
Pour out to me the drunkeness!
whoo! heady stuff!
i wonder if the muse song is a cover? how awesome would that be?? :D
Classic Cars
She was a real royal lady, true patron of the arts
She said the best country singers die in the back of classic cars
So if I ever got too hungry for a suitcase or guitar
To think of them all alone in the dark
So I laid some nights beside her in a bed made for a queen
She said I kissed her different, that all the men her age were mean
Gave me anything I wanted, Oh the generosity
I took all that I could, it was free
Now the sky is a torn up denim and the clouds are just splattered paint
It’s a room I’m renovating; it’s a name I got to change
If I get out of California I’m going back to my home state
To tell them all that I made a mistake
And I keep looking for that blindfold faith
Lighting candles to a cynical saint
Who wants the last laugh at the fly trapped in the windowsill tape
You can go right out of your mind trying to escape
From the panicked paradox of day to day
If you can’t understand something then it’s best to be afraid
The whole world it loves you if you are a chic chameleon
Intersecting circles she could hang with anyone
But when conducting business she would lie about where she’s from
Saying, "Life is how it is not how it was"
I learned to listen felt like I was back at school
She’d talk forever about the phases of the moon
Saying, "Everything is a cycle, you’ve got to let it come to you
And when it does, you will know what to do"
Without even knowing I guess I took her advice
Painted her front door it seemed a suitable goodbye
It’s not that often but I think of her sometimes
Just something quaint, a couple ships in the night
And they keep moving at a glacial pace
Turning circles in a memory maze
I made a new cast of the death mask that is gonna cover my face
I had to change the combination to the safe
Hide it all behind a wall let people wait
And never trust a heart that is so bent it can’t break
I'm sure more Mojito's will be involved.
toujours said...
sounds...fun? i've never seen any of those films lol
hey did fred tell you that her phone texted me, too? we had a nice little chat about her possessed phone that night. she's neat, i like her. :)
toujours said...
so, elena just lost her connection again, because of storms. :/
toujours said...
well, mayo, elena isn't going to be able to get back online tonight probably, it seems that the storm that came in really knocked her internet connection for a loop, and she asked me to tell you that she hopes you'll have a good 4th.
she said she'll blow something up in your honor tomorrow.
heh, she will, too, won't she? that's our laverne. :)
toujours said...
and now i'm going to skedaddle, too.
mayo,
well, i gorged myself on internet vids and music -- didn't see anything with kittens though so clearly i was not thorough. work for me tomorrow but i'm strangely happy about it, maybe it's just the chance to get a day's worth of scanning and uploading done without being interrupted by ladies wanting fabric, lol.
i'll probably hop over here every once in awhile, just to check in, so if you wanted to post a new entry tomorrow...
hint hint
*grin*
nah, you'll write when you write, and that's cool.
mayo, that makes think of something...what are your writing habits? elena was saying the other night how she gets twitchy when she doesn't write for awhile, and i'm trying to teach myself a writing discipline -- what do you do? do you have any tricks for motivating yourself to write, or is motivation not really an issue for you?
there ended up being so much creativity here, part of it was the mix of people, but part of it was definitely because you fostered an atmosphere conducive to it. i always felt that this was a place for creative people, even if they didn't all recognize themselves as such.
i believe creativity is important to you, it definitely is to me, and that's one of the things i've gained from this place. you've bolstered my wavering determination to live a creative life, renewed my love of writing, and helped me reignite my own desire to do what it is i love.
yes, i'm going to thank you now. *grin*
thank you, mayo.
now good night! and sweet dreams, my friend.
Hello Mayo, SS, Ergo, Elena, TJ, Cupcake, Amy, Mya, Sweetcheeks, J, L, MissT, various anons and lurkers!!!
~Happy 4th of July!!!~
~Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans!!!~
How are you today? Well and good (and not really deaf due to a fireworks display) I hope!
We had our parish's annual 4th of July Celebration last night. I watched from my yard instead of fighting the heat, crowd and mosquitos. Tinker Belle was not impressed with all the noise... so she added her own noisey contributions (met every boom with about a dozen barks)!
Ergo: I hope you're not nearly deaf due to all the noise at the truck rally!!!! Those big monster trucks sure do make a lot of racket! I hope you and the family had fun!!!! Have a great (and safe) time on your trip this week!
Elena: YAY for blowing up sparkly things that go boom! Also, YAY for The Twilight Zone marathon!!!
The "monster Anthony" episode is on right now. He's a "good boy that Anthony... a real good boy"!
;)
MissT: I have no doubt you will pass that test this time! With flying colors and at lightning speed!!!
Cupcake: !!!!! It's so good to see you! I'm so sorry to hear about your broken engagement; but, the others are correct. It's much better for you to realize that the marriage would not work out BEFORE those vows are taken rather than after. Hang in there!
TJ: Are you working today or do you have the day off? Whichever it is, I hope you enjoy your day!
That goes for everyone!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
6/Wendy
Hi PJ, Miranth, Anima, Safe, Jade, Gel and Em!!!
gah. lunchtime, and i'm soooo hungry. not really happy with the progress i'm making, it's so damn fiddly. i had to fuss with this one batik for waaaay longer than i wanted to just to get the pattern straight...
one bright spot is the site i found this morning -- i wanted some music here in the office so i looked for online radio stations, and what i found was pandora.com, one of those places where you can create a personalized station. that's been pretty cool to listen to, i'm getting everything from linkin park to j-rock. billy talent's playing right now. :)
here's the url to it if you care to take a listen: tj @ pandora
okay, gonna go eat before i pass out. lol
toujours said...
working, wendy, and thank you!
Happy 4th of July sugarplum and everyone else! I hope it's a good one.
And please save that security guard for me until I get down there, ya hear? ;D
Anon616 said...
Hi Sweetcheeks and TJ!!!
TJ: You're welcome! Don't work too hard today (unless you really want to work hard, today)!
Sweetcheeks: Awwww shucks! Do I have to save him for you? I mean, he is so yummy looking!
;)
Okay Sweetcheeks! Consider him "saved" and you have a great 4th of July.
What are your plans today? Is your family having a cook out?
*blows kisses*
Anonymous said...
Hiya TJ, what are you working on?
sugarplum: Well, the weather is not cooperating today. It's rainy and cool, so I'm not sure if there's gonna be any cookouts or anything, but that's okay. If that doesn't work out, I'll probably order a pizza and watch some movies. What's your plans?
You must describe this security guy in details. You haven't told me much except that he's yummy ^_^
elena said...
hey TJ and Wendy and BC and anon
Happy 4th of July
Here is Jake enjoying the day...
Jake
Anon616 said...
*runs back in to leave security guy description for her Sweetcheeks*
He's approximately 5'7 1/2" ~ 5'8" tall. I would say about 165 ~ 175 pounds (all muscle).
*wiggles eyebrows*
He has a little past shoulder length, wavy black hair and dark, intense eyes.
I would guess he's about 26/27 years old.
And, he wears this really great pair of raggedy, faded jeans that fit OH SO WELL!
Okay, I better stop now before I get overheated.
;)
Enjoy your day, Sweetcheeks and TJ!
Anonymous said...
He sounds delicious sugarplum ^_^
Enjoy your 4th of July. See you later! Hey elena, happy 4th!
Anon616 said...
*runs back in ONCE more*
Hello Elena and Happy 4th of July to you and Jake!!!
Speaking of "all muscle", Sandy Ann says Jake is looking extra good and frisky in that photo! She's quite impressed!
One thing is concerning her. She worried he's smoking too much!
;)
I hope you and the family are enjoying the day, Elena!!!
Hey Mayo
HAPPY 4Th of JULY!!!!!
:D
Monster truck pics at my blog
it was cool, though they managed to break 2 of them during the last bit, Taz from Utah broke, came back out and he broke it again, then Outback Thunda an aussie one broke it's rear tailshaft, sparks everywhere though he kept going, they disconnected it and he come out again, broke the chassis, lol
those guys are nuts!!
and the jet van was so cool, just WOW and it burnt out a car at the end
and the worlds biggest motorbike, built by a guy in west Aust, is 14 tonne!!
and the Fireworks were fantastic!!
ergoproxy said...
and when I say "broke" I mean jumped over car and came down so hard, not like pussied about and broke a little bit, lol
I had videos too but blogger is being difficult
the Taz guy jumps so high, he ends up practically vertical on his back wheels, you'd swear he'd fall over, one time he stood it up, went sideways, ended up leaning over on two side wheels and managed to get it back on 4 wheels again. How he did it I don't know, talk about heart in your mouth!!
toujours said...
i looked! very nice, very nice indeed.
and those may be the only fireworks i see tonight. hmm.
Amyranth said...
I want fireworks. :(
ergoproxy said...
we even had the American Nat Anthem played as it was 4th here and the Taz driver was from utah
It's such a shame it's rainy over there for you
hi Amy!!
Anonymous said...
Doesn't Mr give you fireworks?
toujours said...
hi there amyranth. :)
ergoproxy said...
are you allowed fireworks in Canada?
Amyranth said...
Mister won't be home for another few hours I think, so no fireworks until then.
Hiya Teej and Ergo!
And yes, fireworks are legal in Canada, in fact they let them off a lot during the summer around here, but I just don't like waiting. :P
ergoproxy said...
I wanted my hubby to get me a monster truck but he said no :[
not even when I said I'd look after it
'tis not fair
toujours said...
poor baby, ergo. but in all fairness, you know hubby would end up having to change the oil all the time, and who would take it for drives when you're busy taking pictures of bugs?
ergoproxy said...
I woooooooould drive iiiiiiiiiiiit
*pout*
and I promise I'd change it's oil and give it baths
toujours said...
weelll, it's not really for me to say, you know.
but i could email your hubby with an endorsment, because in all honesty, i do think you would make a fine and responsible monster truck owner.
ergoproxy said...
thank you :]
(I will send you tim tams if you do too, lol)
I added the video of TAZ at the bottom of my blog too, if you get a chance to watch it
toujours said...
i just did (hi-speed ilu) -- who laughs?
Amyranth said...
Well Ergo, maybe if you told him he could play with it too he'd get you one.
Remember, you're married, and you have to "share" things now. :P
Original Punk J said...
Hey kids, Happy 7.4. How's all your days/nights been?
Amyranth said...
HAY J!
Waiting for Mister to get home. Just me and a bottle of Tequila.
Damn, that tequila looks lonely.
ergoproxy said...
hello J!! I'm great thanks
that's my hubby laughing
Amy I tried that, but he remains unmoved
I'm just packing to go away tomorrow, only a week and I know I have too many clothes, but I like to have a choice
toujours said...
hey j.! my day: work, and then rain. :/
but it's ok! how is your's going?
toujours said...
sounds lik he enjoyed the monster trucks, too, ergo. *hee*
Original Punk J said...
Amy, that Tequila has lots of friends, don't let it fool you too much. ;) Is your dad still there?
Ergo, where are y'all headed off to for this trip? Somewhere fun?
TJ, sounds like you had a thrilling day. O_o We didn't do anything much; I visited my mom, and L cleaned the living room. And now we're listening to Oingo Boingo, she's reading, and I'm here.
toujours said...
oingo boingo! now that's a 4th of july bash!
ergoproxy said...
baby girl and I are off to visit my parents for a week, hubby is joining us next Sat to go see French and Saunders, we all come back monday
elena said...
4th of July is going as expected.
Injuries, bad movies and alcohol.
Yep, I got burned making the salute to Mayo...Fred did not!
We just finished watching Uncle Sam
And now we are imbibing.
Good times, good times. OUCH
elena said...
Oh here is a special firework we lit just for Mayo. This isn't the salute. This is just an appetizer.
Panda
Original Punk J said...
Yep, O.B. is good for what ails ya. I've always loved Danny Elfman's voice. And there was something kind of weirdly...sexy about him, to me anyway.
Sounds fun, Ergo! And French and Saunders again? L is very jealous.
Elena, it's good to know some traditions never go out of style. O_o How bad is your burn? The panda is great, BTW. And I'm doing much better since yesterday, thank you for that sweet email. *hugs*
Amyranth said...
J, Dad's still living here, but I booted him out for the night. If Mister doesn't get here soon I'm going to end up on the couch with a pint of ice cream.
Are you sure the Tequila couldn't use one more friend? I have a couple of limes that are feeling left out tooo.....:(
Ergo, I do the same thing, only because Murphy's Law of Clothing always seems to work against Vacation Law.
-If you go on vacation to a sunny spot, and you bring warm weather clothes, it will not only be cloudy, but it will probably snow.
-If you bring rain gear, it will be 30 degrees. If you bring sunscreen, it will drop to -2.
-However, if you show up with a well-balanced wardrobe in the the hopes that you will be prepared for anything, you will not only pay extra at the airport for overweight luggage you will develop a nasty stomach flu. This ensures you don't leave your hotel room, and thus wear nothing but pajamas the entire trip.
toujours said...
weirdly sexy is completely understood j. :)
can't wait to see what you blow up for mayo, elena!
that sounds like an oddball charity event doesn't it? "blowin' up stuff for mayo!"
toujours said...
oh! i think i hear the fireworks from the river -- they must have decided to go ahead with them!
gonna run upstairs and see!
brb
Amyranth said...
can't wait to see what you blow up for mayo, elena!
The true meaning of the Fourth of July. Exploding things for the people you love. :D
toujours said...
yep, the rain stopped, and the fireworks show went on as scheduled. that's good. :)
i feel a little weird for not going -- that was rhe "plan" -- but i was wiped out from the day, and i found episodes of my favorite korean tv show on youtube! :D
toujours said...
lol. in a nutshell, amyranth, in a nutshell.
ergoproxy said...
J this is the only time seeing them, it hasn't happened yet, had to buy tickets months ago!!
Amy, lolz at the vacation laws!
Luckily I can always borrow mum's clothes (in a pinch) and temp wise I am not expecting swimming weather though baby girl is determined to take bikini "just in case"
"blowing things up for people you love", sounds like the perfect reason!
Original Punk J said...
Boy, have I got a Vacation Law story for you guys!
In May '07, we went to Columbus, Ohio to see My Chem with Muse. We took only enough clothes and medicine to get us through that one night cause we were coming home the day after the oncert.
This was not to be.
During that week, salmonella hit both the MCR and Muse camps, taking people down like flies. They were spread across the eastern US, with both band and crew members in hospitals across the states. The show was rescheduled THREE times, and finally cancelled on Friday.
We were in Columbus for FOUR MOTHERFUCKING DAYS. With enough clothes for TWO days. Same for the meds. We ended up going to Wal-Mart to get some clothes and have our prescriptions transferred up there for the week.
They never did reschedule that show. But we learned some creative outfitting techniques!
Original Punk J said...
"that sounds like an oddball charity event doesn't it? "blowin' up stuff for mayo!""
I've got an idea...let's just start blowin up stuff from the Castle! We can take it all into the backyard and let 'er rip!
Mayo, stop us when you see somethin' you want to keep, ok? And make sure you stay out of the way of flying shards!
toujours said...
i remember reading about that j., and you guys were in the middle of it! wow.
wasn't there an interview in which gerard said he didn't get sick because he had slept in and missed the buffet? that's funny if true: sloth saves the day. :)
toujours said...
*grabs the blanket off the couch and drapes it over the glass cabinets full of toys...er, collectible figurines*
Original Punk J said...
Oh I see, Ergo! I thought you'd been already and were going again! Hell, I'm excited FOR you!
Sorry about the repeat then, TJ. You know my memory.
Uh...what were we talking about? Who are you? Who am I? Am I in Nebraska?
Amyranth said...
What's a Nebraska? O_O
And what's this about blowing up the 18th century antique cabinet full of Transformers and GI Joes?
Original Punk J said...
sloth saves the day.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
And yeah, Gerard missed the buffet due to oversleeping. So did Frank, but b/c he doesn't eat meat. Poor Bob had to go back into the hospital cause he got worse near the end of the week. We felt kinda guilty leaving Ohio while he was still recuperating! Who knows why; we're just weird.
toujours said...
no, don't apologize j. -- i had forgotten about it myself, and to think that you guys were affected by what i was only reading about -- and this was before the blog -- it's interesting to think of it. :)
*tucks the blanket more securely around the cabinet and squints at amyranth*
ergoproxy said...
*sneaks into kitchen to hide all the nifty gadgets*
at the show last night they put a car right up with a crane and dropped it on another car
can we do that?
THEN blow them up?
ergoproxy said...
J that must have been so bad, were you washing stuff in the sink? they always say that in travel guides, but they never dry, unless you're in the desert!
I think I have enough for 2 week stay, but I do need my black ankle boots, and my red ones, and my other shoes, and I'm wearing my high black boots.
It's harder as it's winter stuff so it takes up more space
(My excuse and I'm sticking with it)
toujours said...
are there any cars here at mayo's?? i know we've got the crane out behind the pool house, but gorblime if i can't recall if i've ever seen any cars??
Original Punk J said...
Hey, now THAT sounds like fun, Ergo! Sure, let's try it! Where can we get some junker cars real quick?
Mayo, what you got in the garage?
It IS kind of surreal to think about that in correlation to the blog, TJ. At least the timing.
Ok, we don't have to blow up everything in the Castle. Just pick out the things you want to keep, and we'll blow up the rest.
toujours said...
Just pick out the things you want to keep, and we'll blow up the rest.
...can we blow up the flamingo in the front yard? i've never thought that fit with the whole "castle" ambience.
i don't know what mayo was thinking.
Original Punk J said...
We certainly can, TJ, as long as Mayo doesn't want it.
Mayo...you DON'T want that thing, do you? (Please say no.)
SS, do you have anything you want to hang on to around here?
toujours said...
*really hopes mayo doesn't want the flamingo*
ergoproxy said...
J I will get the "you know" and call 'junker-cars-r-us' they deliver :]
Original Punk J said...
That sounds like a colossal plan, Ergo. Get some really big ones, ok? They make more noise.
*also hopes Mayo doesn't want the flamingo*
*Mother, please.*
toujours said...
*continues wrapping valuables in all the extra fleeces*
ergoproxy said...
*calls out*
the guys with the crane say they can drop one on the flaming too if you want!!
Amyranth said...
Mister's home! Gotta go!
ergoproxy said...
this
big enough?
ergoproxy said...
^ flamingO not flaming, though it might be after you explode it
toujours said...
the flaming flamingo? *heh*
excccccellent. :)
"If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It's much easier to apologize than it is to get permission." Grace Hopper
*hehehehe*
toujours said...
the bus looks good (can i keep the firemen?)
Original Punk J said...
OOH! A bus AND a plane! Mayo, get ready for a big ol' honkin' mess in the backyard tomorrow!
Ergo: L would like to ask if you would send us some Tim Tams too, please. And is there any American, uh, delicacy that you'd like to try but haven't yet? (Besides Ray, that is! ;D)
Goodnight Amy! Have fun!
Original Punk J said...
Aw man, that cherry bomb I strapped to the flamingo blew it STRAIGHT THROUGH Mayo's window.
Whoops. O_o
He's not gonna like that.
We gonna be in truuuuuuuuuuuubull!
ergoproxy said...
sure can J :]
I will do it after I get back next week
I think I am pretty right with US foodstuffs now, I have been able to try all the mythical things seen only on TV that I can think of off hand
but I ma willing to give anything a go!
yay for mister!! bye Amy!!
ergoproxy said...
blowin' up stuff for MAYO!!!
Happy 4th of july everyone. J, where have you been?! I thought you disappeared! ;P
toujours said...
hi bc, happy 4th. :)
ergoproxy said...
YAY!
*happy dance*
ergoproxy said...
hi BC!
happy 4th to you
Original Punk J said...
Hey BC! I've been in self-imposed exile for a while, been feeling more depressed than usual. It seems to have passed now, though. Thankfully. How're you?
Ergo, TJ, what are we gonna do with the flaming flamingo that's now in the middle of Mayo's room?
toujours said...
*looks up from toasting marshmallows*
what, j.?
Original Punk J said...
Now don't play like you don't know what's going on here, TJ. After all, YOU were the one who wanted to firebomb the flamingo in the first place.
What are we gonna do with it? My vote is to leave the Castle, call 911 from the diner, and stay there until it's all under control. Who's with me?
ergoproxy said...
no need J I'll just get the firemen that came with the bus
BOYS!!!!
WE NEED YOUOOOOOOO
TJ stop giving them marshmallows and making googoo eyes, they need to work!
