Set to self-destruct.

The saddest girl
In the whole world
Sits in thirty day
Thinks she owns it.
Models herself a pro
With every word just so
Crack answers for everything
And a lie to keep you guessing
Is she real or just made-up.

She says she's lost her life
And can't tell where to find it.
So she sold her soul for the high
Of the sweet synthetic lullaby.
Where's the bottom when you need it?

The saddest girl
In the whole world
Just told the doctor she's fine
The problem isn't mine
"It's them." and they've ruined me
And all that I could ever be.
So now she has a new disguise
and half-way covers her eyes
with a crystal crooked crown
Slipping just missing her frown.

She says she's lost her life
And can't tell where to find it.
So she sold her soul for the high
Of the sweet synthetic lullaby.
Where's the bottom when you need it?

She used to be a little girl
The sweetest you've ever seen.
Now she's just a tracing
Of a near broke beauty queen.

Thanks ergo!

Lol. My entire town is covered with fog from the fireworks. It's pretty cool. I just got back from a cookout at my bro's. All that firecracker smoke was giving me headaches >_<

The House of Life:
22. Heart's Haven

Sometimes she is a child within mine arms,
Cowering beneath dark wings that love must chase,—
With still tears showering and averted face,
Inexplicably fill'd with faint alarms:
And oft from mine own spirit's hurtling harms
I crave the refuge of her deep embrace,—
Against all ills the fortified strong place
And sweet reserve of sovereign counter-charms.

And Love, our light at night and shade at noon,
Lulls us to rest with songs, and turns away
All shafts of shelterless tumultuous day.
Like the moon's growth, his face gleams through his tune;
And as soft waters warble to the moon,
Our answering spirits chime one roundelay.

Mayo

Did you have a happy 4th of July? Mine was good. It was very different from the way we used to celebrate (big ass party) but that’s okay. Those parties, while they were fun, were also a hell of a lot of stress for me. I drove myself nuts trying to make everything perfect. I’m glad I’ve gotten over that. Things don’t have to be perfect in my world anymore. I just want to enjoy each day, you know?

Anyway, Fred came over to join the family. We had a cookout and watched a lot of the Twilight Zone Marathon. Love that show! All my girls were here at various times (you know they had a lot of parties to attend) and Mom was here too. It was nice.

So after Fred and I watched “Uncle Sam” we decided to light off some of the fireworks. And yes Mayo you were part of our celebration. Yeah, weird women in Kansas made you part of their holiday. We decided to do a tribute of sorts. LOL. Here are the pics.

And yeah, I burned my thumb but that’s just typical. It wouldn’t seem like the 4th if I didn’t. I really, really hope you had a fun and safe holiday. I’m very tired now so I think I’ll just chill with Flighty because she’s the only one still here. You take care.

As people grow up they realize it becomes less important to have more friends and more important to have REAL ONES!

July 3, 2009 11:06 PM

and I thought to myself, how true this is. I've never been one to have a lot of friends; maybe when I was in school. These days, I have a handful of people I can count on when the world is too much to bear alone. Those are my true friends. There are some in "real" life, and there are some here. I treasure them all.

I count you as one of them.

Thank you to ALL my friends. May the kindness and love you've given me come back to each of you tenfold.

mayo,

you know, it occurred to me at one point today that i was spending independence day totally alone. that amused me, talk about being really independent!

i had it for a little while, a very short taste in which i learned how difficult it can be and how rewarding to have to rely on one's own company and resources.

no man is an island, of course, and i'm always so grateful for all the help i've received. i know i would be in a bad place if it weren't for that help.

but i want to get back to that independence, i want to become reacquainted with my own rhythms, i want to not need that help.

anyway, i hope you had a lovely day, alone or spent in the company of friends and family, i hope you got your fill of sun, i hope you were able to stand and watch the sky and say "ooh" and "aah".

take care, mayo, and have a good night.

Elena,

If you wouldn't mind, explain to me sometime what Mayo does for you.

Fulfill a void? That sort of thing.

What Mayo does for me? Mayo the person or Mayonaise the place? This is a strange question and it’s hard for me to answer not knowing exactly what kind of answer you’re looking for.

Fulfill a void? My first response to that was “what void?” But after doing some soul searching I realized that I do suppose there is a void in my life. I’ve never met anyone, who if the aren’t totally honest, doesn’t have some sort of void. It may not be large, or for that matter all that important but still…I’ve never met anyone who is 100% completely happy with every aspect of their life. There is always something missing. It may not be a big part of their life but I think it’s more ‘searching’. To me I’m always searching in some way. Maybe for a better understanding of life. Maybe searching to understand my own emotions a bit more clearly. I guess that searching could cause a void.

Now does Mayo fill that void? Sometimes yes, I find answers here. The people I speak with give me different perspectives. Sometimes no, I only find more questions without answers. That is of course speaking of Mayo as the place. Mayo as the person is pretty much the same. There have been times when his words have given me much to think about regarding things in my life. There have been times when he’s acknowledged my words or ideas, that at the time spoken, I didn’t realize how deeply they came from my soul. So the words suddenly took on a much stronger meaning.

Holy crap, Anon by now you should realize asking me a question will usually launch me into some ridiculously involved answer. Not that I mind. I do however wonder what your true reasoning was asking this question.

In retrospect I think Ergo had the right idea. Her answer was much better than mine. I think too much.

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.

He said to his friend, "If the British march
By land or sea from the town to-night,
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch
Of the North Church tower as a signal light,–
One if by land, and two if by sea;
And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready to ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex village and farm,
For the country folk to be up and to arm."

Then he said "Good-night!" and with muffled oar
Silently rowed to the Charlestown shore,
Just as the moon rose over the bay,
Where swinging wide at her moorings lay
The Somerset, British man-of-war;
A phantom ship, with each mast and spar
Across the moon like a prison bar,
And a huge black hulk, that was magnified
By its own reflection in the tide.

Meanwhile, his friend through alley and street
Wanders and watches, with eager ears,
Till in the silence around him he hears
The muster of men at the barrack door,
The sound of arms, and the tramp of feet,
And the measured tread of the grenadiers,
Marching down to their boats on the shore.

Then he climbed the tower of the Old North Church,
By the wooden stairs, with stealthy tread,
To the belfry chamber overhead,
And startled the pigeons from their perch
On the sombre rafters, that round him made
Masses and moving shapes of shade,–
By the trembling ladder, steep and tall,
To the highest window in the wall,
Where he paused to listen and look down
A moment on the roofs of the town
And the moonlight flowing over all.

Beneath, in the churchyard, lay the dead,
In their night encampment on the hill,
Wrapped in silence so deep and still
That he could hear, like a sentinel’s tread,
The watchful night-wind, as it went
Creeping along from tent to tent,
And seeming to whisper, "All is well!"
A moment only he feels the spell
Of the place and the hour, and the secret dread
Of the lonely belfry and the dead;
For suddenly all his thoughts are bent
On a shadowy something far away,
Where the river widens to meet the bay,–
A line of black that bends and floats
On the rising tide like a bridge of boats.

Meanwhile, impatient to mount and ride,
Booted and spurred, with a heavy stride
On the opposite shore walked Paul Revere.
Now he patted his horse’s side,
Now he gazed at the landscape far and near,
Then, impetuous, stamped the earth,
And turned and tightened his saddle girth;
But mostly he watched with eager search
The belfry tower of the Old North Church,
As it rose above the graves on the hill,
Lonely and spectral and sombre and still.
And lo! as he looks, on the belfry’s height
A glimmer, and then a gleam of light!
He springs to the saddle, the bridle he turns,
But lingers and gazes, till full on his sight
A second lamp in the belfry burns.

A hurry of hoofs in a village street,
A shape in the moonlight, a bulk in the dark,
And beneath, from the pebbles, in passing, a spark
Struck out by a steed flying fearless and fleet;
That was all! And yet, through the gloom and the light,
The fate of a nation was riding that night;
And the spark struck out by that steed, in his flight,
Kindled the land into flame with its heat.
He has left the village and mounted the steep,
And beneath him, tranquil and broad and deep,
Is the Mystic, meeting the ocean tides;
And under the alders that skirt its edge,
Now soft on the sand, now loud on the ledge,
Is heard the tramp of his steed as he rides.

Anonymous said...

It was twelve by the village clock
When he crossed the bridge into Medford town.
He heard the crowing of the cock,
And the barking of the farmer’s dog,
And felt the damp of the river fog,
That rises after the sun goes down.

It was one by the village clock,
When he galloped into Lexington.
He saw the gilded weathercock
Swim in the moonlight as he passed,
And the meeting-house windows, black and bare,
Gaze at him with a spectral glare,
As if they already stood aghast
At the bloody work they would look upon.

It was two by the village clock,
When he came to the bridge in Concord town.
He heard the bleating of the flock,
And the twitter of birds among the trees,
And felt the breath of the morning breeze
Blowing over the meadow brown.
And one was safe and asleep in his bed
Who at the bridge would be first to fall,
Who that day would be lying dead,
Pierced by a British musket ball.

You know the rest. In the books you have read
How the British Regulars fired and fled,—
How the farmers gave them ball for ball,
From behind each fence and farmyard wall,
Chasing the redcoats down the lane,
Then crossing the fields to emerge again
Under the trees at the turn of the road,
And only pausing to fire and load.

So through the night rode Paul Revere;
And so through the night went his cry of alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm,—
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,
And a word that shall echo for evermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere.

"The British are coming! The British are coming!"

So began the American Revolution

The British monchary was defeated by a bunch of farmers and children and lost the 13 colonies of North America. The monarchy shouldn't have tried raising taxes on tea. ;)

The American Revolution refers to the political upheaval during the last half of the 18th century when the Thirteen Colonies of North America overthrew the governance of the Parliament of Great Britain, and then rejected the British monarchy itself to become the sovereign United States of America.

i highly recommend this book. it will make you re-think what you thought you knew about what we learned in school.

history is usually the fiction that lasts long enough to become the truth. what really happened is usually more complex and more heartbreaking and more inspiring than anything you'll see on the discovery channel.

Elena, hope your finger is getting better. It's not the 4th if you don't get burned at least once.

KOL anons, nice to see you, and very nice pics. Hope you are doing good!

Mya, thanks for the story from earlier. Very inspiring.

Amy, yeah, the flamingo bit it last night. (J. "accidently" dropped a cherry bomb into it) but at least Ergo got the cleaners and window repair people out quickly. Oh, and the firemen were already here.

Ergo! Safe trip and glad you arrived. Now you just have to face the wheel of fortune for your luggage. Tip: NEVER, and I mean NEVER, lean too far to get the suitcase you just missed. Trust me, it's better to let it go around...

Mayo, ignore that slight burn on the carpet in your room. We have NO IDEA how it got there...

Maybe we should give the firemen a few days to recover, and to wait for the smoke to clear?

Original Punk L said...

TJ, did you see Rainzilla from Twitter?

Anonymous said...

L, is that you? O_o

Hey there tj, how it's going? *hugs*

Original Punk L said...

LOL, yeah, B.C., it's me. How's it going? Can you see through the firework haze yet?

toujours said...

aww, do we have to, l.? maybe they could come and give us tutorials on avoiding smoke inhalation? help us practice "stop, drop, and roll"?
check to make sure we have safety ladders in every upstairs room?

*hehehe*

i haven't looked at rainzilla yet, but i'm powerfully curious!

hello bc!

Original Punk L said...

Sure we can, TJ. I'm sure we could use some practice and training in every room! ;)

Question is, who's training who?

toujours said...

whoa, i just looked -- extreme close-up! but did you notice that there's a heart-shaped reflection in the kittycat's eye? cute. :3

safety is very very important l., very important.

and we can't have all those firemen just lounging around the firehouse with nothing to do but wash their engines...

*ahem*

Original Punk L said...

And test their hoses...

I agree, TJ, safty first!

Original Punk L said...

I saw the reflection in Rain's eye too. He's a real sweetie. Not the brightest bulb, but darling.

His brother is scary smart!

How you're doing L? I hope you're well? I can definitely sure see through the firework haze, although a few neighbors are outside blowing some more at the moment.

Original Punk L said...

LOL TJ, you're right! "Bless your heart" covers a wide range of topics in the South.

Original Punk L said...

Doing pretty good, B.C. We heard a lot of fireworks yesterday, but I think they shot off more tonight than on the 4th! At least it was louder if not more of them.

Believe it or not, I only got burned once with fireworks, when I was younger. A bottle rocket had too short a fuse. Not too bad a burn, but I always made sure the fuse was longer after that!

toujours said...

the other saying that makes me grin is when people say: "oh, me."

it's a whole different world in this part of the country. :)

Anonymous said...

That's good L. But ouch on the firecracker injury. Last night, a friend of my nephews decided to hold a pack of firecrackers in his hand while trying to light it. It goes to show you, part of the firework burned his hand.

Nothing super serious, but he'll be getting some blisters.

Original Punk L said...

Oh, I almost forgot, I did see the Hunter quote.

For some reason I always liked this one a lot:

Going to trial with a lawyer who considers your whole life-style a Crime in Progress is not a happy prospect. HST

Hunter was one of, if not THE most brilliant writers I have ever read. I loved his work from the time I was a teen and hated it when I heard what had happened to him. I actually wrote a tribute type post to him at my blog back in Feb. And well, the name of my blog is one of his quotes, so there you go!

Original Punk L said...

Oh, me indeed, TJ. And don't forget, everyone is named "Honey"!

B.C. Hope your nephew's friend is ok. It does tend to make you think twice the next year when it blows up in your hand!

toujours said...

i think i read some hunter s. thompson back in high school, but when i got to college i went through a major feminist phase and eliminated all male authors from my personal reading. that only lasted a few years, but there are a few authors i've never returned to.

harlan ellison is another.

Original Punk L said...

The first book I read of Hunter's was 'The Great Shark Hunt'. I was hooked from the first.

Which authors did you read or still read?

My guilty pleasure reading-Dave Barry. I have every book he ever wrote.

toujours said...

my favorite author as a young adult was anne mccaffery, and i still re-visit her books every once in awhile -- the characters in them are truly old friends.

i also have a lot of mercedes lackey books -- a bit of a guilty pleasure! charles de lint is my favorite fantasy author, though -- after reading his books i always feel a renewed awareness of the magic that surrounds us, and of the depth of folklore in our lives.

i also really love diana gabaldon -- her books were marketed as historical romances when they were first published because there simply wasn't a category for what she was doing -- the whole time travel/romance/historical fiction thing that is quite prevalent now. i love how she writes, her character development is amazing, and her research skills spot on.

lol, you asked me about writers, l. -- a dangerous subject! i'd better stop while i can. :)

toujours said...

well, let me just add that as a teenager, i read a ton of anthologies, sci-fi and fantasy both. i devoured them, and so i'm not always aware of what author wrote which story...

but i can walk down the sci-fi/fantasy section in a bookstore and see many familiar and friendly names. :)

hope to join them soon!

Original Punk L said...

I'll have to check some of those out, TJ. J.'s sister loves the Mercedes Lackey books. I've been reading Jim Butcher's 'Dresden Files' lately. Also just started Patrica Cornwell's book on Jack The Ripper.

S.S.,

Earlier I left a piece of advice for Ergo about not grabbing for a suitcase if it's already gone by on the wheel, so I will leave you with a bit of wisdom that I learned just today...

If you have taken 20 items off a counter so that you may clean said counter, the nicest, most fragile one will be the one that falls to the floor and breaks into a million pieces, as did a beautiful vase today.

So tell that item it's ugly and you don't care if it falls or not before you pick it up. Maybe it will have mercy on you.

Good Night!

Mayo

Today I did a lot of thinking. It was one of those days when my mind refused to quiet. Maybe it’s because I don’t feel well so I didn’t leave the house. Too much time doing nothing so there was nothing to keep that mind of mine occupied. This can be a bad thing. I think too much, analyze things to infinity and beyond and end up depressed. At least I realize this about myself. I know that if I allow myself to do it I will completely turn within and soon facing the world becomes almost impossible. So tomorrow I will force myself to leave the house, force myself to interact with others, force myself to simply breathe and just be.

I suppose you could say thinking too much makes my brain hurt. Well not really but it is painful in a way. Too many hopeless feelings all clamoring for attention. Each convincing me they are worse then the one before. They fill me with despair. They make me believe that nothing is in my control.

My I am very melancholy tonight, aren’t I? You know the thing I hate about feeling this way is I never really know for sure what causes it. The same fears were there yesterday but they didn’t take over. Today they celebrated a victory. I guess it’s a never ending battle. But through it all deep down I never give up no matter how appealing the idea becomes. Tomorrow I’ll be fine.

Mayo, I really hope you don’t battle with yourself like this.

Night Mayo

Quick note to update everyone:

We're taking Logan back to the dr in a few minutes. He's barely had any food or water since yesterday, he's really congested, and he's losing weight visibly. He HAS had some water and food over the course of the late morning/early afternoon, but we're still going to take him to the vet.

Needless to say, L is very worried, and I'm not much less so. Please keep good thoughts for our "Wolvebunnyrine"; prayers and healing energies are most appreciated.

Will let you know the results after we get back.

*Happy Anniversary, Elena!*
*Glad you had a good trip, Ergo.*
*Thanks for all the notes of interest, anons.*

Wish us luck.

Worker honey bees are female, live 6 to 8 weeks and do all the work.

Male honey bees are called drones, and they do no work at all, have no stinger, all they do is mating.

Pangloss’s Song: A Comic-Opera Lyric

I
Dear boy, you will not hear me speak
With sorrow or with rancor
Of what has paled my rosy cheek
And blasted it with canker;
’Twas Love, great Love, that did the deed
Through Nature’s gentle laws,
And how should ill effects proceed
From so divine a cause?

Sweet honey comes from bees that sting,
As you are well aware;
To one adept in reasoning,
Whatever pains disease may bring
Are but the tangy seasoning
To Love’s delicious fare.

MissT: I have no doubt you will pass that test this time! With flying colors and at lightning speed!!!.

Aw thanks Wendy sweetie.

J and L, I am keeping Logan in my thoughts and hope your ickle bunny baby gets well soon.

So, I hope all you American chums had a great 4th July.

*looks sad*

I had a crappy weekend. the alcoholic neighbour had his music blasting so bad I had to call the police.

I am sooooooooo tired I didn't go to the gym today. I did manage to get out on the garden later and I managed to run the whole beep test again. If I can keep this up I should be OK.

The police were lovely. They don't come out to noise disturbance but they have a new out of hours team that works with the council. They said they send them round but couldn't that night as they were uber busy.

A nice policeman rang me the next day to say that he wants to fight my corner and bring an end to this cos it's been going on too long. I'm gonna get a visit this week from an officer and we will make a plan of action.

Anyway, I'm gonna try to have an early night while he is quiet. I was so tired this morning my eyes were swollen like you wouldn't believe.

Have fun guys and nighty night.

Good news for the residents in and around Gaffney, SC!

The Serial Killer was shot and killed during an attempted "burglary" by police. He opened fired first, shooting one policeman in the leg.

Yes! We had a Serial Killer in the area for the past week and a half!

He randomly killed 5 people! And the gun used in those killings was the same gun that shot the policeman last night.

Everyone around here was getting really nervous! I am so glad they got him!

What makes a person suddenly decide he's going to start killing people?! Maybe the police have more information on the killer's motives and will release it at some point. I'm just glad they did us all a favor and took him out!

I may have missed everyone, but I'll go ahead and leave my note.

Logan hadn't been eating or drinking very much since yesterday (Sunday). He was very listless, and his fur looked bad, you know the way animals' fur looks when they're sick. He DID eat/drink some before we left today for the dr's, not a whole bunch though.

At the vet, they weighed him; he was down to 2 lbs from last Tuesday's 3.38. Almost a pound and a half in under a week. That's rough going when you only weigh about 4 lbs to begin with. The vet examined him and felt this mass under Logan's right-side ribcage, about as big as your thumb. That mass hadn't been there, or at least hadn't been big enough to feel, last Tuesday, either. Dr thinks maybe the respiratory problems were secondary and the cancer the primary, which might've contributed to the respiratory. Either way, it's not operable. Even if it was, Logan couldn't survive the surgery; he's too weak.

So now he has pain meds--honey-flavored, which he loves--and he gets to eat whatever he wants, or WILL eat. If he runs out of pain meds the vet said to come get some more. In this case, he said "long-term usage" wouldn't hurt the bun, for obvious reasons.

He's had some pain meds tonight, and they seem to have worked...he's been eating, drinking, and looking like "Heeeeeeeeeeey...this is good SHIT!" He's been able to move around a little easier too.

We don't know how long Logan's gonna be with us, but while he is, he's gonna get whatever it takes to help him feel better. He deserves no less.

Could you just imagine if Kapu came on and said "I'm sad Mayo, please hold me" or something like that???

I think your big picture is a puzzle and it's missing way over half of the pieces.

Hi, I'm a different anon. Is it just me, or does anyone else think this is just OPJ and Kapu battling it out with each other as anons?

Only Kapu or her friends would mention Nutella when SS is mentioned. I do think Kapu and SS have a friendship too, not taking anything away from OPJ, but I'm sure SS isn't her friend exclusively.

They are just a little "closer" than average and OPJ's friendship has earned her the right to ask him to touch her,

O_O

LOL if they were that close, she wouldn't have to ask!

Where 5:33? Show us where Mayo said she was the protagonist.

Did he ever say that or did you assume he was referring to her?

SOME people here have a habit of putting Mayo and SS on the spot by demanding their attention. Mayo himself said that when you push for an acknowledgement, when it is given it will look forced and insincere. But SOME people can't seem to help themselves.

Where if you look, SS really did call OPJ his angel.

Proof or it didn't happen.

iawtc i don't think mayo ever acknowledged OPL being in the hospital, even after being hounded about it.

Sigh I guess you are all missing the point. I dont' care what OPJ and SS say or do to each other. I don't care if she wants him to hold her because of her bunny. I don't care if she is his angel or he he goes over to her and acts out all the porn she wrote for him.

And I do feel bad about the bunny, like I said, my daughter's guinnea pig died and it was very sad. I got a good snogging hug from my husband after I buried the pig. It was sad.

The point is that if Kap had said something to the effect, one of you either anon or signed in would have jumped on her. And MOST of the rest of you would have told that other person how great they were for doing that.

Which is what happened when her grandmother died.

Mayo

You have been played and I really hope you can see it now.

I guess you reap what you sow.

Congratulations!

Don't take the bait. Those of us who have been here from the beginning know that it is true. Obviously this person is just a troll. Don't tell them. This has come up before so they are obviously dying to know. Don't give it to them. It's their problem if they weren't around at the time. We all know it's true, and don't need to convince trolls otherwise.

Why is everything always about Kap? She hasn't been here in months. PLEASE STOP!

Love Man is back.

Loverman was here yesterday.

This blog has been the Kapu and Friends show for far too long.
