Set to self-destruct.

The saddest girl
In the whole world
Sits in thirty day
Thinks she owns it.
Models herself a pro
With every word just so
Crack answers for everything
And a lie to keep you guessing
Is she real or just made-up.

She says she's lost her life
And can't tell where to find it.
So she sold her soul for the high
Of the sweet synthetic lullaby.
Where's the bottom when you need it?

The saddest girl
In the whole world
Just told the doctor she's fine
The problem isn't mine
"It's them." and they've ruined me
And all that I could ever be.
So now she has a new disguise
and half-way covers her eyes
with a crystal crooked crown
Slipping just missing her frown.

She says she's lost her life
And can't tell where to find it.
So she sold her soul for the high
Of the sweet synthetic lullaby.
Where's the bottom when you need it?

She used to be a little girl
The sweetest you've ever seen.
Now she's just a tracing
Of a near broke beauty queen.

I've been making a list of the things they don't teach you at school. They don't teach you how to love somebody. They don't teach you how to be famous. They don't teach you how to be rich or how to be poor. They don't teach you how to walk away from someone you don't love any longer. They don't teach you how to know what's going on in someone else's mind. They don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying. They don't teach you anything worth knowing.

Oh my God. Some people have actually been reading and believing the things that are printed in The Sun.

The British tabloids make the ones here in the US look like the Washington Post and they love writing about the Kings.

According to them, Kings of Leon have been about to "break up" ever since they hit it big in the UK way back in 03/04 or so.

Yes, Caleb was upset over the sound at T in the Park. Yes, he lost his temper and broke his beloved Gibson 325. I have friends who were at the show and they simply thought he was having a Pete Townshend moment.

I also have friends who were at Oxegen the next night (I get around in the KOL fandom) where he was very sheepish and contrite about breaking his guitar.

The Followills are a close knit family and they often get in arguments and sometimes even knockdown, drag-out fights, but they always resolve their differences and continue to do what they love, which is make music together.

So sorry, but nope. No crying in my beer tonight.

Also, you are very welcome for the links, Wendy.

Hey, KOL 3! I love Molly's Chambers. Have you ever heard the acoustic version, Molly's Hangover? It's awesome. ^_^

hey thanks KOL anon, nice to know it is just an over-active rumour mill, and knowing it was The Sun...well...that says it all, we don't get it here but we def. hear about it enough esp in relation to Kylie for example.

hello all, i can't stay on for very long -- i'm on battery power atm. the storm that knocked out our electricity earlier tonight did a very good job of it and we are still in the dark. (i say "we", but really i'm the only one up in the house, typing by the light of the screen.)

i liked that quote about imaginary worlds and their importance -- where is it from?

it reminded me of that line from the opening of "mythbusters": i reject your reality and substitue my own!

lol

you know, the only graffiti on my college campus when i was a student was a message spray-painted on the sidewalk, just inside the main entrance (and right next to the convent): choose your own reality

you can see, it's an idea i've admired for a long time!

anyway, time to go, the little battery icon in half empty.

talk to you all tomorrow, i hope!

sweet dreams, all. :)

hi ergo!

yep, the storm finally passed. it was so cute, the minute the rains let up, the fireflies were out, dancing around. they were truly lightning bugs tonight, since the sky was still all lit up by the storm in the distance. :)

won't know about any damage until morning, but it seems pretty light. there are a few more tree limbs down -- they just aren't as resilient as they were before the ice storm las winter.

but otherwise, i think everything's ok. :)

TJ I love fireflies, we get them here too, sometimes even in the house, you turn off the lights to go to bed and see the little green flashes

toujours said...

oh, that would be so neat! i love watching them. :)

hey, you know what? we have a bat at the shop -- i just discovered the little cutie today. it was sleeping all curled up at the very bottom corner of the front door. i thought it was dead, and moved it a little with the mail i was holding...and it woke up, all startled! stretched out it's wings -- which were incredibly long for such a little creature! -- and then went back to sleep. i felt so bad for being so rude and poking it in the butt while it was trying to catch some zzz's.

:)

ergoproxy said...

it's cold and dry here today and when I pat my cats we get static electricity lol

you ever patted a cat in a dark room in that weather? you see lines of blue sparks, cat gets a bit miffed though!

it never got dry enough to have that happen with my cat back in seattle, but i can imagine it (and her displeasure!). cute. :)

well, i got distracted doing the searches i thought i wasn't going to be able to do tonight, and now i'm late getting to sleep. tomorrow should be fun. lol

good night ergo, good to talk with you a bit!

Ah! Why, Because the Dazzling Sun

Ah! why, because the dazzling sun
Restored my earth to joy
Have you departed, every one,
And left a desert sky?

All through the night, your glorious eyes
Were gazing down in mine,
And with a full heart's thankful sighs
I blessed that watch divine!

I was at peace, and drank your beams
As they were life to me
And revelled in my changeful dreams
Like petrel on the sea.

Thought followed thought—star followed star
Through boundless regions on,
While one sweet influence, near and far,
Thrilled through and proved us one.

Why did the morning rise to break
So great, so pure a spell,
And scorch with fire the tranquil cheek
Where your cool radiance fell?

Blood-red he rose, and arrow-straight,
His fierce beams struck my brow;
The soul of Nature sprang elate,
But mine sank sad and low!

My lids closed down—yet through their veil
I saw him blazing still;
And bathe in gold the misty dale,
And flash upon the hill.

I turned me to the pillow then
To call back Night, and see
Your worlds of solemn light, again
Throb with my heart and me!

It would not do—the pillow glowed
And glowed both roof and floor,
And birds sang loudly in the wood,
And fresh winds shook the door.

The curtains waved, the wakened flies
Were murmuring round my room,
Imprisoned there, till I should rise
And give them leave to roam.

O Stars and Dreams and Gentle Night;
O Night and Stars return!
And hide me from the hostile light
That does not warm, but burn—

That drains the blood of suffering men;
Drinks tears, instead of dew:
Let me sleep through his blinding reign,
And only wake with you!

mayo,

tonight, after the storm had mostly moved off to the east, i stepped out under the eaves of the house to enjoy the remnants of the wild weather.

the sound of rain falling is so nourishing.

and then the lightning made a reappearance, great jaggedy flashes of the stuff, filling the sky with light and thready lines of electricty. there were so many bolts in the sky all at once, it looked like a map of veins and arteries against the night clouds.

i saw two displays like that, and each time it thrilled me a little, knowing i wasn't actually safe where i stood, knowing the ground was wet beneath my feet. but still, i stayed, and listened to the rain, and watched the few, bravest fireflies still meandering and flickering across the dark lawn.

the third crashing light display sent me back inside, though. i watched the bolts trace themselves across the sky, like webbed cracks in the clouds. then they all gathered into one large crooked line, from sky to ground.

the thunder was unnervingly quick, and that's exactly when i decided it was time to stop being a little lightning rod, and retreated indoors.

but still, even though it wasn't particularly smart, standing there in the wet, watching the storm -- it was a delicious thing, mayo.

*grin*

and now, good night, from a lit room and a plugged-in laptop, and hoping your tomorrow is delicious, too.

maybe a little smarter and safer, though.

*grin*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I agree with TJ. That is a great quote.
I do think it is important to remember that fantasy and imagination ~ no matter how vivid ~
can't keep you warm on a cold winter's night.
Only something real, something tangible can do that.
Imagination is a wondrous thing. The fuel of fantasy. It can transport you to other worlds. It can reach far. Still, it has no arms to hold you or ears to hear you when you cry to be held.
Balance is key. Perhaps understanding that quote is a key to balance...
Of course, we may each "understand" that quote differently.
To me, it's somewhat of a warning. A warning about how easy it is to become lost in a fantasy... to become obsessed with something that does not exist... something that is not real.
How easy it is for some to spend so much time and energy chasing a fantasy/illusion that it takes over their lives. It becomes all that matters to them. It becomes their life. An unreal, hollow life.
In other words: I can embrace my imagination; but, my imagination will never be able to embrace me.
(Hey, I kind of like that! Consider that copyrighted!)
:P
Well, that's what I get from that particular quote!
Anyway...
MissT: *hugs*
KOL anons, why do you keep coming here when it is obvious that the Lovelies don't want you? Signed in, they only tolerate you at best. Elena, Toujours and the OPs do not want to see posts about a band who is so different from and more popular than MCR. Wendy has shit taste in music, everyone knows it and they ignore her links too so she doesn't count. The rest of them want you gone.
Think about it. Who do you think wrote those emails and anti-KOL comments? Some random anon? Or was it someone here, a regular, who feels threatened?
Anonymous said...
Hm. The only thing the remaining Uglies (I mean ugly in spirit) really care about is Mayo and SS.
One thing I find funny is how they will only threaten their "status" with Mayo and SS if the opportunity to hurt someone they hate is.... Something they can't resist. Like.... They will be on their best behaviour pretending to be "incandesant" but if they can hurt someone, they will try to. They'll hope it doesn't "get back to Mayo and SS" but sometimes they can't seem to resist.
Its like those are there two biggest priorities. Chase and harass others, while still keeping Mayo's favour.
Ah, the Great Oracle speaks again! Good to know you are able to read other people's thoughts and feelings. Besides, Wendy loves KOL. Are they included in her "shit taste in music"?
It's clear you want it to be someone in blue who wrote the emails. Why don't you name names, if you're so certain of their identities?
incandescent: aglow with ardor
Not sure what dictionary you used to add "ardor" to the definition.
The correct definition is-
in·can·des·cence (nkn-dsns)
n.
1. The emission of visible light by a heated object.
2. The light emitted by an incandescent object.
3. A high degree of emotion, intensity, or brilliance.
Anonymous said...
Dictionary.com
Anonymous said...
Perhaps if you actually looked up incandescent instead of incandescence. Just sayin'.
Anonymous said...
I looked up incandescence because that was the word used in the original comment.
From your own dictionary site-
incandescence  /ˌɪnkÉ™nˈdÉ›sÉ™ns/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [in-kuhn-des-uhns]
–noun
1. the emission of visible light by a body, caused by its high temperature. Compare luminescence.
2. the light produced by such an emission.
3. the quality of being incandescent.
Anonymous said...
Plus you used only one of the definitions in your comment. You don't know which definition in particular was meant.
Oh really? I missed that, or it passed me by. But they didn't choose them, I think we just let them have those 2 prize rooms!
It's a long time ago now.
Anonymous said...
I think it was by default that they got one and two. Mayo would obviously have the Master Suite, or Room 1, so SS was given the second room.
Anonymous said...
He had a pumpkin house! It was in the woods outside the castle. Sometimes he would leave the door open but other times you could pin a note to his door if he wasn't home.
Anonymous said...
That may be true! SS is just kind of all over the place, LOL. He has a room, a pumpkin house, I think at one time he was in the attic!
Wasn't Bikey in the basement?
Anonymous said...
I think there was a room nobody was allowed to go in too. Can't remember the number though. And nobody was allowed to open Mayo's dresser drawer.
Anonymous said...
Yes, I remember that too. Not sure if we ever found out why we weren't supposed to go in that room. Mayo himself warned us not to get into his nightstand drawer!
Anonymous said...
SS often likes to sit and read quietly in a big armchair in the main hall of the castle.
Anonymous said...
Do you remember thet slip and slide party and Mayo showed up with a new post in the middle of it, after someone rounded up all the clown strippers? That was great!
Anonymous said...
Wasn't Bikey in the basement?
Yes I think so.
Kapunua was in the greenhouse I think?
Anonymous said...
I can see SS and a full room of Lovelies with books and tea, sitting quietly reading. Amyranth burning cookies in the kitchen, Smoke yelling at the Nascar race in the den, Bikey trying to gnaw his way through the chains Wendy put him in...
Anonymous said...
Didn't someone clone a whole bunch of sheep and Ray Toro's at a party?
I think she did have the greenhouse. The pool house was used by The OPS and a few others at times, and oh, yeah, the barn has Party Sheep, Shaunette, and other furry friends.
The garden is healthy well at least the weeds are!
Anonymous said...
Uh, healthy garden. Typos!
Anonymous said...
Well, Mayo did say he needed a whack in the head. Maybe till Smoke gets back you can help him, Elena!
elena said...
"The Day The Garden Whacked Back"
Sounds like the kind of bad horror movie I would like LOL
Maybe I should make my own horror movie
elena said...
I can't whack Mayo in the head...
well, maybe I could but not hard. Just a tap.
Anonymous said...
We could work up a script for you, Elena.
An anon mentioned you and Toujours finishing the gothic. Would you be interested in doing that?
Anonymous said...
Aw, but he did ASK for it, Elena. Just kidding!
elena said...
Oh do work up a script for the Garden Horror Movie please.
And sure, I'm game if TJ is on finishing the gothic. Poor Lord Mayo was left in dire straights.
Anonymous said...
I think I will give it a go. I'll post your script when it's done, but it may be a few days!
He was, wasn't he? It would be cool to see how it turns out.
Gotta go, catch you later!
ergoproxy said...
:) Thank you Mayo. The same wishes are being sent to you. You are missed.
Anonymous said...
I bet SS looks cute in those reading glasses.
Anonymous said...
I bet he does too! SS is there a particular reason why your reading glasses have a capital R?
Anonymous said...
SS
Are you going to Reading anytime soon?
x
elena said...
I bet he does too! SS is there a particular reason why your reading glasses have a capital R?
interesting...wonder if this leads to a clue?
Anonymous said...
He's mighty sneaky, that SS! I like what he did there.
Anonymous said...
It was just so nice to see them both here at the same time (give or take ten minutes)
It doesn't surprise me in the least Ergo, that Foghorn Leghorn went for the goods.
He is after all, a cock. :)
Just wanted to say hiya ladies. And a bit of a shock reading back here today. A nice kind though! (All tingly and warm?) ;p Wonderful to read the reminiscent anon's. Thanks to you guys for that, it was nice to read that. Felt like 'home.' Anyway loves, I own emails, phone calls and comments. I'm a dick. No denying! But couldn't resist a pervy drop to ya here! Again, so awesome to read today. Nice to see to the two lords of the mannor as well. Love to ya girls, anon's, S(S)&M.
;p
lewishasfallensloppydead said...
Oh I agree 7:41! That was pretty cool.
And when J pops round, somebody ask her what she thinks of the new 'tasche. I personally feel inclined to blame my pervo mood on it today. I can't be alone in that?? It's crazy.
Hope you ladies are all good, love to ya, you know it<33
lewishasfallensloppydead said...
Oh fuck! And L! I love you too ya punk! ;* Thanks for that! If I wasn't completely crap at those, I'd reciprocate 10 fold! Perhap's I'll just spam ya blog? ;p Luv ya! <33
elena said...
Hey Ergo
I'm making pot roast for dinner. Would you like to join me?
Original Punk J said...
HEY EVERYBO--DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm doing my Grover impression, yes, I've gone RIGHT round the bend.
Elena! Darling! How're you feeling tonight? Dandy, I hope. :D
Lewis: I found the 'stache, thanks for the heads-up! My comment? YUM. Plus some other words. But, just, YUM. :D Can't tell much about the beard, though.
MAYO! Oh my cow, you about gave me heart failure today! How ARE you, besides...drained? Hmm, sounds like somewhat of a personal problem...they have doctors for that, you know. ;D Great to see you, my brother.
SS? I'm not sure that was you earlier, but, I've been wrong before, so what's another time? :D Whether it was or wasn't, hello anyway, and your chair's been reupholstered so it's looking good. Bring your book. ;D Love you, honey.
One of us, either L or I, will probably be back later. See y'all then!
xo jen
Original Punk J said...
And hello Ergo! You snuck back in while I wasn't looking. How are you doing? *hugs* I owe you an email.
elena said...
J good to see you!
I am fine as frog hair, thank you!
ergoproxy said...
hi J!!
good to see you
elena I would love to join you :]
elena said...
Okay Ergo I will set a place for you.
Man, that roasts smells good. I'm getting hungry.
ergoproxy said...
as long as it's hot I'll be happy, and I bet it smells great, we have a really cold wind, sun is lovely, wind is blowing up from the Antarctic!!
(and I seriously mean it is, I feel sorry for the people down south, like Melbourne)
I love roast, what did you put in yours? I usually oven roast, not pot roast
elena said...
Well first I brown the roast in a skillet with onions. Then I put it in a big roasting pan with potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, more onion, cabbage and a bit of tomato juice. Then I let it cook hours on low heat.
ergoproxy said...
oooooh yummmmmmmm
so is it covered? and how much tomato juice? like how far up the roast?
elena said...
Yep covered and about a cup of tomato juice.
ergoproxy said...
I will have to try that, when we do a beast we always end up with a number of roasts, esp blade, it's good to know something different to try
and it's good weather for it!
ergoproxy said...
I am still having major static cat issues, I swear I get zapped and I'm sure soon I'll be walking about dragging them along stuck to my legs!
elena said...
Oh you'll be a cat lady. LOL
Amyranth said...
I smell potroast!!
ergoproxy said...
oh must tell you, we went to the big museum sciencenter, it's all interactive stuff, BG had a blast! But in one bit they had a plasma ball and she was touching it and all, and a guy came over with a little flouro bulb and put it on her nose and everything, but as I was earthed I kept zapping her (little zaps) and it was really annoying her, so she made me stand touching it so she could zap me, but she didn't realise you BOTH feel it, LOL
it was so funny
Amyranth said...
Ergo, I remember wearing flannel pajamas as a kid and just hating it when I'd get zapped, which was often.
elena said...
hey Amy
Want some roast? It's ready
Amyranth said...
Oh yum!
*holds up her plate*
Please Mum?
How's everyone doing?
ergoproxy said...
hi amy!!
Amyranth said...
Hallo Ergo!!
ergoproxy said...
oh flannel is great for that, the cats crackle when I pat them lol
it is such dry air
*sits at table*
*picks up cutlery*
ready elena :]
elena said...
Now go sit down Amy and eat your roast. Don't spill on Mayo's rug.
Amyranth said...
*wipes a spot off the carpet with her napkin*
What was that? Don't spill what?
elena said...
That better not leave a stain, young lady!
ergoproxy said...
I can call the cleaners
toujours said...
hi everyone. that was neat to read all the reminiscing comments. i loved those parties. and it was good to read mayo too, of course. :)
and, hey, i wanted to say to the kol anons -- you guys always come across pretty smart, so i probably don't need to say this, but i wanted to let you know without a doubt: i don't mind your posts and links at all. me, i'm totally switzerland on kol, i don't hate them, and i don't love them -- they look like a good band, and what i've heard of them sounds great. if i had more of an opinion i'd join in your conversations, but as i don't, i just read them. hope you'll continue to post here. :)
ergoproxy said...
me!
elena said...
Might be a good idea Ergo. I don't want to make Mayo mad.
Of maybe I could just leave a plate filled with roast, potatoes, carrots and cabbage for him. That might work.
elena said...
Hey TJ
Good to see you
ergoproxy said...
YAY!
*happy dance*
hello TJ!!
elena said...
Back in a bit, must go serve dinner.
toujours said...
hi elena, hi ergo!
so,you guys are all sitting down to a little late dinner, huh?
darn, i already had some teriyaki noodles. :(
ergoproxy said...
how are you TJ? have a good day?
I emailed you too a little update, thanks
BC, if you're around, how's the job front coming? I saw your post on Twitter about a waitressing job?
-------------------------------------
J: About the waitressing job, it might take a while because the restaurant that is offering it is in the stages of being built, and it's going to be run by a friend of the family's, but hopefully I get it. A job's a job.
Sugarplum: Don't listen to what the anon said earlier. You have excellent taste in music. That's why me and you get along so well, lol. As to where I've been, some days I'm up to visiting here, some days I don't, I hope you understand though you can still come and harass me at Twitter, lol.
Hey to anyone here.
ergoproxy said...
hello BC
good luck for the job when it opens
how've you been?
and thanks for looking at my pics, tigers are massive animals
toujours said...
hi bc. :)
the day went fast, ergo -- i don't know what happened, boom! it was already 1 pm! probably had something to do withthe fact that my boss bought me a coffee from the stand across the street. *heh*
ergoproxy said...
lol caffeine fuelled
toujours said...
read the update, ergo -- holy moly! close call!
elena said...
Okay I'm back. I refuse to listen to anymore bitchy ass comments about the gravy.
toujours said...
pretty much -- it was a large caramel mochaccino, yum! that drink always takes me back to this one time, i was taking the train down to portland for my second tbp tour show -- it was my first trip ever taken on my own for my own reasons and not to visit anyone -- and the first place i stopped when i got off the train was the coffee stand in the train station. i don't know why that's the moment that has stayed in my memories, but there you go -- i have that coffee, and i go right back to that moment. :)
toujours said...
elena, i'm sure your gravy was delicious!
