I hate to see you
When you're falling apart
Can't you start over, again?
Elizabeth crumbles
Alone in her chair
Keeps her windows shut
To keep out the air
Elizabeth crumbles
Alone in her bed
Spends all her pastime
Mulled in her dread
What keeps her living
Is her fear of being
Anywhere other than here
So they’ll feed her too much
Or it’s never enough,
Then it's fuck you
“Get the hell out of here!"
Elizabeth stumbles
Over everything I've said
Pining words are useless
Pushed round in her head
The mystery was my bravery
I never knew what I'd get
Will it be her fear or regret?
Her confusion my denial?
Walked her shoes a while
Now she can’t turn back
So she said then she’ll stay
And I will walk away
Elizabeth mumbles
Over and over my name
Forgetting tomorrow
Will never be the same
She’s repeating her beating
Did you bring her a drink?
Why are you leaving?
What the hell do you think?
That she’ll fuck you
To get the hell out of here
Elizabeth tumbles
Out onto the floor
With an abandon of reason
It is herself abhorred
She sat alone in her room
Pouring over her gloom
Never got out of her chair
And they don't even care
Now that they’ve all receded
Into the ground or fleeted
To the wormholes
And woodwork back there
You'll find repair
Where that memory
Becomes illusory
Look, again?
p.s. in the end it is what you think you will get.

Hi tj, j
oh, j. -- the angel thing was really neat, i wnated to let you know i got it even though i don't send those things on. but it made me smile. :)
It was pretty, wasn't it? I don't usually send those either, but it seemed different.
What's up, BC? We're just hanging out here at home. Logan has to go to the vet tomorrow because one of his, um, *whispers* boy parts is swollen. >.<
ok I'm tired now...
thanks my adoring fanz :]
i saved it, j. :)

Girls, I know it's early, but I'm so tired from my housework today. Cleaned, did laundry, took out trash, put away clothes, put away groceries, etc. Need to sleep now.
Goodnight Ergo, TJ, BC, and Amy if you're around anywhere. Goodnight Mayo, happy Monday to you.
xo
what a busy day, j.! have a good night's rest, you deserve it!
it's good to talk with you, and i'm looking forward to your email. say "hi and good night" to l. for me!
and sweet dreams. :)
goodnight J sweet dreams
*waves goodnight to L*
Dear SS,
I would pay you handsomely for a neck rub about now. A neck rub, and some pain medication.
Somehow I don't think that's gonna happen.
Well fuck, a girl can ask, can't she? ;D
Goodnight, baby. I love you.
My heart to yours, always.
SS I hope tonight you rub your wife's neck and tell her you love her.
Logan has to go to the vet tomorrow because one of his, um, *whispers* boy parts is swollen.

Ouch. I hope the vets treat him J. Goodnight and sweet dreams
oh yes J - hope Logan recovers his tender area ok
ahhhhh so nice not to have yr 8's to frustrate me
so hows your weekend been BC?
Pretty boring ergo. We've been back in cold weather and lots of rain and storms again >_<
oh that's a pain, it's getting quite cold here, but nice and sunny, though they are predicting showers and there is cloud off to the west
hello, i'm back! had a phone call. :)
Hi tj
hey TJ
you know trebuchets are really awesome, I want one
and I saw a thing on Farrah Fawcett befoer, very sad, hopefully it'll encourage people to get checks
trebuchets are really cool, ergo! some of my friends in the s.c.a. were in the seige engine guild and were always making scale models in preparation of making a full size one. they are really interesting machines.
oh how cool, they just had the enormous one the guy made in england on TV, it can throw cars!
now that i think of it, i think there are sites where you can order one, actually.
and I would totally want to be in the siege engine guild!
lol, you'd be great in it, ergo!the first thing they made was for the big thirty-year celebration -- huge ten-day camping event, with tons of people -- about 10,000 if i remember -- and tons of activities and classes and merchants and dancing and bardic circles...it was so much fun. :)
but i digress! for the big war, they made a two story plywood elephant (a la hannibal crossing the alps), and our baron and baroness rode to the warfield on the top of it. the populace (the rset of us) pushed it. lol
it was great, and we won every battle with it!
oh I can picture it now:
hubby arrives home from work
I run out..
"GUESS what I just bought online!!"
Fetchez la vache!!"
two story plywood elephant.
that is all I need to hear!
i'm trying to find a pic of it, because it is truly a sight to behold!
I'd love to see it if you do
i'm coming up blank! fooey, i really want to show it off, too. :)
i'll keep looking, maybe i'll find it later this week. you'll love it!
i should probably be getting to bed now, though. not that i think i'll be able to sleep -- i'm a little bit a-kid-the-night-before-christmas atm. *hee*
good to chat with you, ergo, and rock out to the awesome display of your skillz! have a good night, and sweet dreams.
good night to you, too, bc! sweet dreams. :)

goodnight tj
mayo,
not to brag, but today was a really good day. and i mean in almost every detail, it was lovely.
i had the house to myself in the morning (my folks are church-goers), so i took the opportunity to update my flickr and do my laundry. that doesn't sound so spectacular, does it? but today was also one of those rare late spring/early summer days, perfect and green and fresh and sunny.
i decided to take advantage of it and hang my clothes out on the line to dry, and standing out there, barefoot in the cool grass, pinning clean wet clothes up, listening to the trees pretending to be the ocean in the breeze...
if i could've taken a picture to share the whole of it with you, i certainly would have.
i watched a silly movie, ate a scrumptious sandwich, pulled some weeds for my mom (apologizing to the seedlings as i took them from their dark nurturing soil), and pampered myself with a girly beauty-afternoon (cherry blossom and almond-scented soap! face masques, rich emollient lotions, deep conditioners! the whole slumber-party array!)
then my mom had a craving for stuffed shrimp, so we went out to the only restaurant in the area that serves them. i had the grilled catfish...it's always so delicious. (seriously, you need to try catfish some time. it's really good!)
came back to a fun evening here at your place, and lots of smiling, everywhere.
does that sound like a good day? i don't know if it translates, maybe you'll read this and think "huh. if she says so."
but it was an easy day, a day where difficulties were as scarce as clouds in the breezy sky. and it's a day that ends with me eager for tomorrow.
hope you have days like that, too, mayo. you certainly deserve them.
good night, sweet dreams.
How about this…
You as the saint, I am the sinner.
…No?
Then, you are 12.
I am 21.
I suppose I will either figure it out, never know, or be denied.
And 5:06, Is it even possible to be apathetic and guilty...or any of it, all at once?
To me, apathy denotes a lack of concern or interest. An apathetic person would be unresponsive to their, and care little about another's, feelings.
It appears to me that you are riddled with emotion.

goodnight g'nite, and I really like that one
2:33 perhaps they work to be apathetic as the alternative is guilt?
5:06 if you come back feel free to ask for help, or just an ear to listen
Holy shit that reads like creepy, sicko pedophile.
It would probably be a good idea for me to clarify that I am not a creepy, sicko pedophile.
I regret writing those words here.
5:15, I appreciate the sentiment. I guess being a jerk isn't all its cracked up to be, huh?
Lewishasfallensloppydead, Ergoproxy, Anon616 and Anons, you showed a nameless, faceless person kindness and compassion.
Thank you.
2:33, if you are also 5:15 then perhaps you would find it enlightening to reflect on the events of the last 48 hours.
i hope you can eventually find some contentment 5:06
- not 5:15 or 2:33
5:06 I hope you find peace and security somewhere, with someone who can help you work through all you need to work through.
Well 5:06, you seemed like you needed someone to care about you. I assure you it is meant, by everyone that said something to you and those that didn't. I believe people with the most uninviting or unwelcoming feelings (especially to themselves) inside them, need more understanding given back to them. I believe that is the only way to for someone to truly help another. And I think you may regret putting your words here because it made you have to face them for a time? No matter how you regret it, it was brave of you to admit to how you feel. I think that is something very important for any person to do. You shouldn't feel bad about it. I hope you find a way to work through all that troubles you. I hope everyone that feels like that does. And like Ergo said, I hope you have someone near you to help you with all of that. It is no easy feat. I hope you find peace anon. Good luck to you. <3
2:33/3:49 -I find you amusing. Probably shouldn't, but what can we do really. ;p I do believe a person can feel many conflicting things all at once. I believe, that is what makes us human. And that is part of the problem and the beauty of humanity. We are conflicted. Every person struggles. I think for some people, that is all they feel they are -a war inside themselves. And apathy comes in many shades (even as a defense, as Ergo said) and sometimes, I don't blame a person for feeling it. I'm sure there is always a reason, for every emotion felt. And I believe most all people in this world are both saint And sinner. How could any honest person be one entirely or the other? Amusing. ;p
GNite, that's a lovely one. Have you ever read that story about the little girl? She made a thousand paper cranes, for a wish. A beautiful story. When I was a teen I got it in me to do that as well. For about three days. ;p I didn't get to a thousand, naturally. Used to be able to fold one without even looking though. Now I can't even remember how to start. I'll have to look into it again tomorrow. Thanks for that GNite.
Ergo loves, I will try to mail you when I know more about what is going to happen now. Everything is up in the air. (Rather awful that!) Crazy shit. ;p But I'll let ya know (especially if you may have a new neighbor after all!). I hope you are well and enjoying ya free days loves! Thanks for everything Ergo.
So I just wanted to say I hope everyone is doing well, or will be. I've got a lot going on at home right now, so I don't think I will be round much (not that I really have been anyway, sorry!). But wanted to say, thinking of everyone, hoping everything is good and stays that way for you guys. Love to all, Lovely's, Anon's, Mayo, Ss, and anybody else that happens by. Nighty night<33
Good morning/afternoon/evening Mayo, SS, Ergo, Lewis (and Dave), Elena, J (and L via J), Amy, TJ, Gnite, 5:06, 2:33/3:49 (or, not a creepy, sicko pedophile anon ~ which is always good to know *wink*); various other anons and lurkers!
How are you all this a.m./p.m.? Good, I hope!
Lewis: Have I told you lately how wonderful I think you are? No? Well, you are wonderful Lewis!!! Don't you ever forget that!
*sends some special licks your way ~ a few for Dave too*
5:06 ~ You are welcome and thank you! In addition to the *hugs* and heartfelt words from Ergo, Lewis, 5:05 and a few other anons, sometimes you just need to use synonyms for those words/feelings. Such as:
Spent
Sensitive
Ripe
Separate
Preoccupied
Passive
Wandering
Solitary
Questioning
Exasperated (poop!)
Sliding (weeee)
Immersing
Vehement
Frustrated (grrrr)
Experienced
Regretful
See, doesn't that sound/feel better! A few sound effects help too!
;)
J: I hope you, L and Logan are all doing better today!
TJ: I hope you have a great time on your date! Go you!!!!
That is all for now, I think. Have a great day, everyone!!!!
For those going to bed soon: Goodnight and sweet dreams to one and all!
Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

I bought a shredder!!!
Dun dun dunnnnnnn
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
YAY, Ergo!!!!! I hope you enjoy your shiny new shredder ~ at least for a little while.
I have one and had fun with it for a few months. After a while, the shine, sharpness and thrill wore off. Yes, I became disenchanted and went back to good, old fashioned, fast FIRE!!!!!
Hmmm... maybe I'm too ripe!
;)
*blows night night kisses to blogbelieve*
oh Wendy
I actually had a fire yesterday :]
can't beat a good burn off, but shredded paper will be used on the garden, fire will still be for boxes
Lewis,
don't stress about emailing, whenever you have time is fine, just hope airborne things start to drift downwards in a way that helps you plan and brings you opportunity
Mayo,
Wishing it for you too
Mayo
Good morning! I totally meant to pop in last night to tell you goodnight but damn it I got sick. Not exactly the wonderful evening I had planned. Guess that's just they way things go sometimes. Anyway I feel better this morning. I'm drinking coffee and waiting for the hubby to wake up. Lord does that man snore. Looks like last night here was fun. That always makes me happy to see. I like checking in first thing in the morning and finding that my friends had a good time.
Well I think he's waking up now so I should get going. Take care
Elena
Oh and I'm totally late on this one but one more thing...
5:06 - not one of those emotions listed is unknown to me. However, it sucks when all those words describe how you feel at once. You were offered some great words from the people here. Words I hope helped you. Sometimes just admitting how you feel, writing them down and seeing them in print, helps to release some of the emotion. I hope you were helped.
Somewhere i have never travelled
by e. e. cummings
somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near
your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose
or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing
(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands.
Hello, everyone. I haven't been around here in a while. I hope you are all well.
I still have not come down from the high of seeing my favorite band play two nights in a row. I am still kind of in shock because even though I have heard so many people talk about how good the Kings are live, I didn't expect them to be that good. My boyfriend kept going on about their work ethic and how professional they are. They're even punctual! Both nights they took the stage at exactly 9:00 p.m. on the dot.
Anyway, Kol, if you see this, I've heard that Jared finally
shaved off that awful excuse for a beard. I didn't see the
KROQ feed, so I guess I'm asking you to substantiate? I
know he still had it in the one million fans Facebook video.
I know it's silly, but I just hate that scruffy beard-thing.
So, if you have pics, please share?
Thanks,
Katie
Hiya mayo, hiya ss, hiya girls, how are you all?
I'm back from London, it went well and I have a new date for my fitness test.
MissT! My god! I hope you are recovering!? Reading that, it sounded fucking awful! I am sure the good coppers will let you reschedule? And I cannot wait to see you in the offical digs! Uniforms are just awesome. Especially if you get a hat. Do you get a hat?? Those are too damn cool! I'm rather fond of the Sea Captain hats. But like, there is the whole sea factor involved in getting to wear those... ;p And by the by, how is your player? Personally, even though I have a knock off brand, that fuck was expensive -if my arm fell off, I would scream "But IS my player alright!?" Cuz I so cannot buy another! ;p I do hope you are feeling better. That just sounded, well like it hurt like a bitch! And will probably continue to do so for some time! I rather hope not Miss T! LOL Lewis, yes I did go "where's my MP3" before I considered the pain. MP3 fared better than I did but I am on the mend now. Elbows, arms and wrist healing great. Leg healing very slowly but I'll get there.
You know how to make me laugh sweetie.
Happy belated birthdays for Al and Amyranth. I hope you had a great day and lots of cake Amy.
Elena, your daughter sunshine is sooooo pretty. Thanks for posting the graduation pic. And who is that pretty little blond peeking over her shoulder. I can see where she gets her looks from.
KOL, it sounds like you had a great time at the show. Lucky you for all the momentoes you managed to bag. Good for you sweetie.
To the anon who suggested the MissTottenham show, well I could I suppose but I'd have to polish up the nipple tassles.
This guy, Matt, was lonely and decided life would be more fun if he had a pet. So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet. After some discussion Matt bought a centipede, who came complete with a cute, little box to use as his house.
Matt decided the best way to welcome his pet centipede into his life would be to take him to the local watering hole for a drink. So he asked the centipede in the box, ‘Would you like to go to Frank’s
place with me to have a beer?’
There was no answer from his new pet. This bothered Matt a bit. He waited a few minutes and then asked the centipede again, ‘How about going to the bar and having a drink with me?’
Again, there was no answer from his new pet centipede, so he waited a few minutes more, stewing about the situation. He asked one more time, this time putting his face up against the centipede’s house and shouting, ‘Hey, in there! Would you like to go to Frank’s place and have a drink with me?
This time, a little voice came out of the box: ‘I heard you the first time! I’m putting on my fucking shoes!’
Nighty night Mayo, SS and everyone.
xxxx
Check this outOK gone for real now. Nighty night xxxxxx
missT good to hear you're on the mend and LOVE the joke - will be telling it today :]
and very cool ghost pic!! missT
Al the state school teachers are on strike today, yeah week after I finish! so I have my daughter home for the day. and there are showers of rain, I think we may have to go out and annoy daddy at the workshop for a while lol
Hello, everyone.
KOL 2!! Where you been? I know, I know, basking in the afterglow. ^_~ I'm sooo jealous.
The rumors are true. Jared is currently beardless. There are some pics on the KROQ website. Most are of Caleb, but there are a couple where you can see Jared's sweet face. Example. No more RPattz, no more scruff. ^_^
Oh, and there's a KOL post on ONTD, with a link to a rather uncomfortable interview from the KROQ show (the interviewer was drunk as a skunk). Of course, epic picspam is sure to ensue. :D
Thank you, Miss T. I'm quite excited over Nathan's drumstick, which has lovely purple grip tape on it. Only now I want a set and they aren't going to be playing anywhere near me in the foreseeable future. :(
Oh! I forgot why I came here in the first place.
The new TBS has leaked and it is wonderful. If you have access to it, give it a listen (and then go buy it on Tuesday).
Also, I'M SEEING TBS IN ATLANTA ON JUNE 16TH!!
In response to the bad review of Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown: I've read several good reviews on it as well. I don't think it's going to live up to the success that American Idiot achieved, but on its own merits it is a good record.
AND I'M SEEING THEM IN ATLANTA ON AUGUST 1ST!!!
Sorry for shouting, but I'm very excited. ^_^
Sorry, one more thing.
New Again doesn't have a bad track on it. So far, Money Where Your Mouth Is is my favorite. It's outstanding!
*sigh*
Where My Mouth Is.
hello KOL2 so glad you had such a wonderful time
Hi KOL
sounds like you have a busy schedule of concerts, as for reviews I think if you like an album, what does it matter what others think? Bands vary over time, some stuff works. But it's all a progression and that's what makes music interesting. If a band always sounds the same I very quickly find them boring.
I'm off to have lunch with hubby, back later!! :]
Darlings, I'm hoooome!
Hallo Anon, how's it going?
Ok for me. You?
Doing better than I was 24 hours ago. My Dad is coming for a visit, so I've been house-cleaning crazy.
What's been keeping you busy lately?
Just work.
Does your dad clean when you visit?
*grins*
No, he mostly sits around and watches TV. I'm getting his bedroom ready, he's going to be staying awhile with me.
I never cared much before, but now that it's my house... well, I guess cleaning was just a recessive gene until now. :P
Of all the things to inherit...
And that was from Mom! The only things I inherited from Dad were his liver, and his annoying habit of singing parts of songs while walking around the house at random.
One of those is not such a bad thing.
I understand, livers are always good.
Having a spare has not hurt me yet.
How's work?
Unusually quiet. Suffering withdrawal from the lack of stress.
Seriously? Take my job for awhile. Retail.
I'll take vacation, and you can have the nervous breakdown. I'm not sure if I like the stress, or if I'm a closet S&M enthusiast.
Nervous breakdown as in 'massacre in the paint aisle?' That would be entertaining.
We dare one another, especially the smokers, to head down the spray paint aisle with a lit cigarette.
Especially when it's busy.
The other suggestion is to smear oneself with a bottle of Cadmium Red, and run for the door screaming "I GOTTA GO!!"
Both are good, but potential explosions win every time.
Must be going. You have a good night.
You too, have a good evening.
*sneaks off to bed*
"Somewhere There's Someone Who Dreams Of Your Smile, And Finds In Your Presence That Life Is Worth While, So When You Are Lonely Remember It's True; Somebody Somewhere Is Thinking Of You"
Okay, okay. Someone posted an inspisring quote and Ij ust found this on my cousin's FB, and... well. Appropriate? Probably not. But it's amusing.
Friends are like butt cheeks. Shit always separates them but in the end they always come back together.
Okay, really. Gone to bed now. Goodnight everyone.
Another night I wish I was here but for reasons beyond my control I can’t. Still I wanted to pop in to tell you goodnight and to show you our newest members of the family. Ergo will probably remember the other night when I told her the dogs were going crazy barking at the barn. I thought a stay cat had a litter of kittens under the barn. That was what it was last time but no, not kittens this time. Stormy went out yesterday morning and saw one of these critters pop out and ran back to the house with her story about a weird mythical creature that had looked at her then run up the side of the barn. Have to admit we sorta doubted her story so we set up the trail cam and well, here they are. Yep, our own litter of groundhogs. Kinda cute, aren’t they?
new family membersWell gotta go. Take care. Hopefully tomorrow night I will be able to hang.
OH THEY ARE SO CUUUUTE!!!!!
can you send me one?
The Encounter
You came to the side of the bed
and sat staring at me.
Then you kissed me—I felt
hot wax on my forehead.
I wanted it to leave a mark:
that’s how I knew I loved you.
Because I wanted to be burned, stamped,
to have something in the end—
I drew the gown over my head;
a red flush covered my face and shoulders.
It will run its course, the course of fire,
setting a cold coin on the forehead, between the eyes.
You lay beside me; your hand moved over my face
as though you had felt it also—
you must have known, then, how I wanted you.
We will always know that, you and I.
The proof will be my body.
—from The Triumph of Achilles
by Louise Gluck
It would be just easier if you just email the person you fancy instead of posting love poetry.
goodnight g'nite
anon they post for everyone,
even you, enjoy :]
It's poetry. Nobody had a problem with it when they thought it was for particular regs.
Interesting and telling.
Oh yes 3:48, very. Guess you're just so clever.
They're just making an observation 3:54.
Isn't that what you did.
Defensive and argumentative.
You're a clever chop 4:00. Guess so.
I'm with 3:09. Since everyone can state their two cents, I'm going to say that I don't like that type of poetry.
And since I occasionally do come and read here, and as some have stated repeatedly, it is for ALL to enjoy, then I feel excluded, as, sorry to say, I don't enjoy it.
What about we hit a new theme. My suggestions; friendships, family, courage, trees, et cetera. That way everyone can be happy.
You might not like that kind of poetry but many people do.
Louise Gluck is a great poet.
She's a pulitzer prize winner and a former poet laureate.
She was the senior lecturer at William's College and currently teaches at Yale University.
There are many great poets.
There are many more Pulitzer prize winners.
And, there are loads more themes to choose from.
4:30, 4:42 is a just a pompous ass.
Maybe 5:06. Still don't enjoy that type of poetry.
G'nite has posted other themes from other prize winning poets.
Keep the ones you like. Forget the ones you don't like.
Ergo, BC, Miranth, TJ and others appear to appreciate the variety.
The Triumph of Achilles by Louise Gluck from which g'nites poem was taken received the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Boston Globe Literary Press Award, and the Poetry Society of America's Melville Kane Award.
Ergo, BC, Miranth, TJ and others appear to appreciate the variety. That explains it all. Four bloggers constitute the "many". You are just trying to justify what you are posting. I think the other anons had some merit in thinking the poetry was targeting someone here. 3:09 made a good suggestion. You should try to contact them instead of posting twice daily love poems.
So what 5:22?
Mayo,
how's your day been? Hope it was a good one. Mine was nice, got a fair bit achieved and ready to get stuck in again tomorrow after I finish titoring. I am going to be sooo organised, but hoping it'll last. I have a bad habit of being great at getting organised, not so great at staying organised. lol
Hope you achieve all the things you set out to do in this coming week
much love EP xx
SS
guess what I got! Bet you'll never guess....a filing cabinet! Yes after getting a paper shredder yesterday and another filing cabinet today (I have a small 2 drawer, now I also have a 4 drawer) I will have the most totally sorted paper. Actually I think I will have had enough of paper pretty soon, lol. Maybe I should do some origami! Relax and fold some cranes with invoices...
lol
Hope you too have a week full of a sense of achievement
lotsa love EP xx
goodnight blogbelieve see you in my morning
To succeed in business or life. I come to realize that we must continually take remedial actions. Putting myself on the line day after day can be extremely draining, especially when things do not work out as I desired. Hence, each time I face a disappointing event or undesirable outcome, I NEVER FORGET these famous failures:
Bill Gates, founder and chairman of Microsoft, has literally changed the work culture of the world in the 21st century, by simplifying the way computer is being used. He happens to be the world's richest man for the last one decade. However, in the 70's before starting out, he was a Harvard University dropout. The most ironic part is that, he started a software company (that was soon to become Microsoft) by purchasing the software technology from "someone" for only $US50 back then.
Abraham Lincoln, received no more than 5 years of formal education throughout his lifetime. When he grew up, he joined politics and had 12 major failures before he was elected the 16th President of the United States of America.
Isaac Newton was the greatest English mathematician of his generation. His work on optics and gravitation made him one of the greatest scientists the world has even known. Many thought that Isaac was born a genius, but he wasn't! When he was young, he did very poorly in grade school, so poor that his teachers became clueless in improving his grades.
Ludwig van Beethoven, a German composer of classical music, is widely regarded as one of history's supreme composers. His reputation has inspired - and in many cases intimidated - composers, musicians, and audiences who were to come after him. Before the start of his career, Beethoven's music teacher once said of him "as a composer, he is hopeless". And during his career, he lost his hearing yet he managed to produce great music - a deaf man composing music, ironic isn't!
Thomas Edison who developed many devices which greatly influenced life in the 20th century. Edison is considered one of the most prolific inventors in history, holding 1,093 U.S patents to his name. When he was a boy his teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything. When he set out on his own, he tried more than 9,000 experiments before he created the first successful light bulb.
The Woolworth Company was a retail company that was one of the original five-and-ten-cent stores. The first Woolworth's store was founded in 1878 by Frank Winfield Woolworth and soon grew to become one of the largest retail chains in the world in the 20th century. Before starting his own business, Woolworth got a job in a dry goods store when he was 21. But his employer would not let him serve any customer because he concluded that Frank "didn't have enough common sense to serve the customers".
By acclamation, Michael Jordon is the greatest basketball player of all time. A phenomenal athlete with a unique combination of grace, speed, power, artistry, improvisational ability and an unquenchable competitive desire. Jordan single-handedly redefined the NBA superstar. Before joining NBA, Jordan was just an ordinary person, so ordinary that was cut from high school basketball team because of his "lack of skill".
Walter Disney was American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, and animator. One of the most well-known motion picture producers in the world, Disney founded a production company. The corporation, now known as The Walt Disney company, makes average revenue of US $30 billion annually. Disney started his own business from his home garage and his very first cartoon production went bankrupt. During his first press conference, a newspaper editor ridiculed Walt Disney because he had no good ideas in film production.
Winston Churchill failed the 6th grade. However, that never stopped him to work harder! He strived and eventually became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the Second World War. Churchill is generally regarded as one of the most important leaders in Britain and world history. In a poll conducted by the BBC in 2002 to identify the "100 Greatest Britons", participants voted Churchill as the most important of all.
Steven Spielberg is an American film director. He has won 3 Academy Awards an ranks among the most successful filmmakers in history. Most of all, Steven was recognized as the financially most successful motion picture director of all time. During his childhood, Spielberg dropped out of junior high school. He was persuaded to come back and was placed in a learning-disabled class. He only lasted a month and then dropped out of school forever.
Albert Einstein was a theoretical physicist widely regarded as the most important scientist of the 20th century. He was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics for his explanation of the photoelectric effect in 1905 and "for his services to Theoretical Physics". However, when Einstein was young, his parents thought he was mentally retarded. His grades in school were so poor that a teacher asked him to quit, saying, "Einstein, you will never amount to anything!"
In 1947, one year into her contract, Marilyn Monroe was dropped by 20th Century-Fox because her producer thought she was unattractive and cannot act. That didn't deter her at all! She kept on going and eventually she was recognized by the public as the 20th century's most famous movie star, sex symbol and pop icon.
John Grisham's first novel was rejected by sixteen agents and twelve publishing houses. He went on writing and writing until he became best known as a novelist and author for his works of modern legal drama. The media has coined him as one of the best novel authors even alive in the 21st century.
Henry Ford's first two automobile companies failed. That did not stop him from incorporating Ford Motor Company and being the first to apply assembly line manufacturing to the production of affordable automobiles in the world. He not only revolutionized industrial production in the United States and Europe, but also had such influence over the 20th century economy and society. His combination of mass production, high wages and low prices to consumers has initiated a management school known as "Fordism". He became one of the three most famous and richest men in the world during his time.
Soichiro Honda was turned down by Toyota Motor Corporation during a job interview as "engineer" after World War Two. He continued to be jobless until his neighbors starting buying his "home-made scooters". Subsequently, he set out on his own to start his own company. Honda. Today, the Company has grown to become the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer and one of the most profitable automakers - beating giant automaker such as GM and Chrysler. With a global network of 437 subsidiaries, Honda develops, manufactures, and markets a wide variety of products ranging from small general-purpose engines and scooters to specialty sports cars.
Akio Morita, founder of giant electric household products, Sony Corporation, first product was an electric rice cooker, only sold 100 cookers (because it burned rice rather than cooking). Today, Sony is generating US$66 billion in revenue and ranked as the world's 6th largest electronic and electrical company.
It isn't over,till its over.
Chase your dreams and never give up!!
In the theme of friendship:
The Gift Of Knowing You
There are gifts of many treasures
For both the young and old,
From the tiniest little trinkets
To great boxes filled with gold.
But, put them all together
And they could not stand in lieu,
Of the greatest gift of all
The gift of knowing you.
When your times are filled with troubles
Sadness, grief, or even doubt,
When all those things you planned on
Just aren't turning out.
Just turn and look behind you
From the place at which you stand,
And look for me through the shadows
And reach out for my hand.
I will lift from you your burden
And cry for you your tears,
Bear the pain of all your sorrows
Though it may be for a thousand years.
For in the end I would be happy
To have helped you start anew,
It's a small price to pay
For the gift of knowing you.
- Dave Stout -
going with the theme and following the guidelines in the spirit of friendship
Your Catfish Friend
If I were to live my life
in catfish forms
in scaffolds of skin and whiskers
at the bottom of a pond
and you were to come by
one evening
when the moon was shining
down into my dark home
and stand there at the edge
of my affection
and think, "It's beautiful
here by this pond.I wish
somebody loved me,"
I'd love you and be your catfish
friend and drive such lonely
thoughts from your mind
and suddenly you would be
at peace,
and ask yourself, "I wonder
if there are any catfish
in this pond? It seems like
a perfect place for them."Richard Brautigan
good evening mayo chicken and lettuce baggette, how are you this evening?
have you ever been walking up a bridge and it was so windy that your brolly sprung up and blew unside out. I did today, right in front of everyone and a traffic jam on the motorway. Wasnt very funny cos everyone started beeping their horns and laughing, pointing and laughing some more.
I went bright red and didnt know what to do, i threw my broken brolly up in the air and did a curtsey then put head down and walked fast up the hill.
lets just say i would rather get wet than for that to happen again :)
So what have you been up to? had any crazy dreams with yourself? sang a song of sixpence?
emptied your heart out on a hankicheif and wrapped it up and tucked it into your pocket? - done it plenty of times, feels quite good and then when you are that little bit happier, open a window, take the hankicheif out of your pocket and wave it outside to empty it.
or just buy a new one and blow your nose :)
anyhoot, take care and i promise i wont eat you tomorrow.
peace out a town, b town, c town and the alphabet town.
xx
Fimble
Haven't seen you in blue for some time. Good to see you again.
good morning all!!!
hi fim!
it is such fabulous sleeping weather at the moment we accidentally had a little sleep in this morning, so have only a bit less than an hour to get ready and off.
After titoring I am buying some suspension files and new manilla folders, nothing like the feel of brand new stationery :]
bye for now!
hi elena!!
Well I worked at the store all day and now I'm at home listing comics.
But i must be off titoring
I'll catch you again later
Gerard really must shit his pants on a daily basis now, if he always has to reassure himself that he made the right decision to marry Lindsey (and let her keep the baby) by constantly telling everyone and their mother how wonderful she is and how happy he is.
It will not be a pretty sight, if his house of cards will finally collapse, and yet, I hope that we will be having front seats to the show. ^_^
This is the kind of CRUELTY you see at VV's. Oh yes, they are SO wonderful there. So KIND.
3:15, sign in KAPU. Where Fimble goes Kapu and the others are SURE to follow. Or is it the other way around?
Stop bitching about the guidelines and sign in.
Just can't leave Amy alone can you? Nope didn't think so.
STUPIDITY more like.
Cruelty and stupidity all in one!
You see, if people 9certain people) would learn the meaning of friendship then they would not feel the need to be so cruel to others! When you have true friendship, the real kind you do not HAVE to act like that.
People should take a nice tip from the ladies who come on here a certain time of night.
No attention getting behavior that you would see from a two year old!
Friends.
Respect.
Learn it!!
How many people have tried to teach that to them and failed? Probably most people here!
Oh well! It's out of our hands!
what attention getting behavior? posting?
Erm, I was stoned and I missed it.
I have no idea what's going on *now*, so I'll just say hi & go home.
More like constant posting in order to get the attention.
so they have been constantly posting for the last few months, right? To get attention. Ohhhh-kay.
If you think that the Porchies (such as Fimble) never really left and her posting is not a coincidence, raise your hand!!
Yes 7:31, you're starting to catch on!!
A coincidence? With what?
My hand is raised to the sky!
Raise it high and proud!
A coincidence that she just happens to show up out of nowhere? When in fact she (like the others) have been here all along!
Raised hand!
What does it even matter?
Its just not that important!
"coincidence"
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Fuck you, and the blog you rode in on!
Lol. Is that the best you can come up with?
How woefully unoriginal.
Woe is you.
What's next?
Yo mama?
WE HAVN FUN NAHHHHHH!!!!
;/
*takes a deep breath in*
Oh lovely Mayonaise;
You're still posting, not as often as you used to, but posting nonetheless. How have you been? Just dandy, I hope? I haven't taken the time to read any of your blogs that were posted in the past.. oh I don't know, 2 months? Haha, I'll get to that, I just wanted to pop in and see how things were. Same old, same old hey? You'd think that something would change for the better over time, but apparently not.
The school year is almost over, thank Jesus! I can't wait for summer vacation, I can't wait to get my full license this month, I can't wait for freedom. Things are slowly getting, not necessarily better, but easier. I still miss my brother everyday, and I'm trying to lead a life that he would be proud of. I quit my job at A&W. I knew it had to be done sooner or later, so I decided to take a plunge and the sooner, the better. I'm currently unemployed, but I honestly don't mind. I'm 16, almost 17, and have worked nonstop for almost 2 years. I think it's time I just lived my teenage life, before it's too late. I'm still searching for a summer job, but I'm in no rush. My choice is to stop and smell the roses for a while.. ;)
Hmm... what else? Oh my 'love life'. The boy and I broke up for 3 weeks, that was really tough for me, but we're back together, and just passed our 6 month mark. I'm really happy with things right now, regarding the boy. Right now, I'm at a point in my life where I can't dwell on the bad, I'm moving forward, being optimistic, and keeping all paths, options, and routes open. I still have one year left of high school, and am stressing over next years course load already. Haha, just like me to worry.
Mayonaise; I'm not sure what you have going on in your life, but cherish every minute of it. Take every little detail in, and don't be afraid to take a detour. Take some time for yourself and do something you want to do, for yourself. If you have a special someone in your life, let them know how much you like/love/care about them. I really, truly hope that things are on the right path for you. Your a strong dude, I'm sure you can handle whatever life throws at you, BUT don't be afraid to ask for help if necessary.
To all my friends, I'm sorry I haven't stayed in touch. I miss everyone, and I'm pretty sure if I were to post regularly again, I would not fit in anymore. =/ I wish everyone the best, and hopefully we'll speak again in the future.
all my love;
- Paperheart.
<3
P.S. *HUG* for everyone. ^_-
*squeeze for PH*
You'll never not fit in.
Anyone around?
Thanks to Amyranth for always having encouragement for everyone who deserves it. You somehow always have the right words to help a troubled person.
The Night Crew, the ladies of the night..... THAT my friends is what this blog is about. What it is meant to be about.
...and the only one here that gets it is the 16 year old...go figure!
12/22/12
Why do certain people get mad when the "porchies" come on? I have never seen any of them call people names like i have seen others do. Shit! How many do you even consider to be the "porchies"? I can't believe people get so upset over a couple of people. It's funny!
If others choose not to see it or think it is wrong, that is their loss. Not yours. Not the rest of your true friends.
It is not funny if you knew the attention seeking behavior and shear arrogance they have shown.
It is not funny if you knew the attention seeking behavior and shear arrogance they have shown.
May 19, 2009 9:53 PM
I have been here a long time. I think certain people might be jealous because they were NOT getting attention. No fault of the porchies. Are you going to blame the weather on them too?
I had a bad day! I think it is Solly and Smoke and Kapunua's fault! I have a headache. Damn you Fimble and the rest of the people on the porch!
It is not funny if you knew the attention seeking behavior and shear arrogance they have shown
I do think it's funny because now when i come here all i see is a bunch of people that can't get past what happened months ago! I'm talking about everyone. Someone is always bitching about Kapunua or Fimble, the OPS, Amy, Wendy and even for awhile Miss T of all people!
paperheart, so good to see you and hear from you. you'll always have friends here, and i'm proud to see you going forward in life with such a positive attitude!
*massive squeezy hugs*
:)
Hallo Teej!
Hello, You.
I hope you had a good day.
Sincerely, Me
Check out this Birthday Calendar:
It tells amazing things!
Tee Hee! That was meeee!!!!!!!
Since I'm accused of being an anon ALL THE TIME, I might as well be one, right?
The Birthday Calendar thing really is neat! You MUST click on your "Life Path Number"! It is really interesting!
Hi PH! *hug*
Hallo Ergo!
Hello ladies of the night.
Thank you for making this blog the place that it is. A place for friends. And for respect!!
ooh, sucky, amyranth, but keep at it, they might be working even though they don't feel like it!
hello ergo! thanks for posting for me last night (i might ask you to channel for me tomorrow, too. *grin*)
hey, mya, i checked out that link -- pretty cool!
Been called many things, never a lady of the night.
Lady of the night? Not with this knee, and besides, I'm not in the mood. I have a headache, I feel bloated, I think these pajamas make my ass look big, and I'm sure there's other excuses I can come up with if you'll just give me a minute...
*reaches under the couch for The Big Book Of Excuses For Everything*
you're welcome TJ so you had a good day/night?
amy shame about your knee hope it feels better soon
and gee it's only 1pm in the afternoon
*thumbs through the book that many a woman has used in her time of need*
...
*or anytime really*
...hmm...
Oh! Here we go!
I haven't eaten yet today, it's too cold, it's too hot, my hair's a wreck, we still need to go grocery shopping, not until you buy me dinner, it's only the first/second/third date/month/year, not until I get a ring, not until you wash that, not until you show some respect, not until you get me my drink...
...
Huh. Missing a bunch of pages from here....
not until you obey the guidelines..
Teej, you're not still at the fabric store are you?
Ergo, how are you enjoying your fall? I saw some snowflakes today and thought of you.
Then I fell to my knees and asked God why we're still getting snow.
I think the bum knee is my answer.
The stalking of Amyranth needs to stop. It's funny how Fimble Star was around today.....
It's lovely weather so far Amy, though they are predicting rain and possible storms
*looks out at impossibly blue clear sky*
down south is getting slammed with rain but none in sight here
*proud to be a lady of the nigth*
*cackles*
amyranth, i am -- i pretty much like the job (my boss is awesome: keeps a snack drawer, gives me clothes, loaned me a game boy...), but some days would rather be independently wealthy.
ergo, i had a great time! he's a really neat guy, has lots of stories. we had fun. :)
Teej, I bought my ticket to Independent Wealth today!
Now, I just need to WIN the damn lottery. :P
Ergo, you're too damn lucky you know? Get over here and kiss my lotto ticket.
