Fried

There behind the casing, a path
you do not dare to follow.

It is fate that has impressed into the dirt
all the places it has been.

When where the earth is dry it is gone,
dusted into every other moment in time.
But where it is wet and allowed to parch
the trail remains and you can follow it
back to where it began.

It is given to chasing rat tails
and following frogs flopping into ponds.

That time spent heeding…
“You will never make it across.”

Until now that it is starved and the fat rat is slow.
But, the old black rope never made it across.

Just like it was told.
It was struck straight through
the middle, crushed.
Pasted to the burning hot asphalt
by a dodging challenge to cross.

Immediately it tried to coil around itself
to pull up from the back end, its entirety.

But it failed, and will lay there frying
until it becomes fully denatured.

While above crossing the trees, its foe glides
and swoops down between each rushing conveyance.

And they will eat!
They will pick apart bit by bit by the bill.
Because they must, they will.

Ya know, I thought I should add -I thought it was a rather risky trick, Blogger giving everyone the option to delete Anon's on other peoples blogs. I thought Blogger was being a smart ass with that one, actually.

And I thought, maybe it would be better that way, so people thought a little harder about what they were willing to type out, with the knowledge that it could be deleted, by anyone.

With anons it tends to comes out half beautiful, affectionate words, some playful and lighthearted, and then we get the monstrous words -meant only to hurt and make more trouble.

I don't think anyone is ready for that kind of responsibility. -Control over anon comments. Over any comments posted by others really. I don't think responsibility is the main focus of the internet. So it's probably better that Blogger took that chance away. Maybe someday we won't have to worry (or want for) so much about that option. Maybe we won't need it. Maybe we'll all be past saying things that others would gladly delete. I really hope so anyway.

Anyway, sorry for my babble. I just wanted to say something about all of that. I do hope everyone is well. Love to ya Nighty night<33

Chickens! Last Night I Dreamed of Chickens

Last night I dreamed of chickens,
there were chickens everywhere,
they were standing on my stomach,
they were nesting in my hair,
they were pecking at my pillow,
they were hopping on my head,
they were ruffling up their feathers
as they raced about my bed.

They were on the chairs and tables,
they were on the chandeliers,
they were roosting in the corners,
they were clucking in my ears,
there were chickens, chickens, chickens
for as far as I could see...
when I woke today, I noticed
there were eggs on top of me.

On leisurely seeing the faces of the maids that are comfortably sleeping well on the tops of whitish edifices, the moon of these nights is highly ecstasized, for he is unpossessed with any such flawless face, as his own face is flawed with rabbit-like, deer-like foibles, and when the night dwindles, he doubtlessly goes into state of pallidity, as though ashamed to show his face to the flawless sun... Hi Lewis!

Stopping by. Feeling very tired and sleeping straight through so I haven't been by. Don't want to get sick again!!!! (Very tired of being sick, too!)

I will catch up later, but I know I want to hear Flighty sing!

J - Very thankful L has been able to make it home!! Give her *hugs* from me. :) And a *hug* for you as well.

Ergo - You are able to take the trip, finally? Is it the one you were going to take around Easter, but the weather prohibited? I hope you have a great time!

Wendy - Did you enjoy the Jazzfest? I keep seeing pics of it on the internet!

Lewis - I went back and saw all the little trash cans! WOW, I would never have thought blogger would do that! I don't think I would ever censor others' comments, but its interesting that blogger took that step. Must've had a lot of complaints, I would imagine! Also, it proves that a lot of people use this medium as a dumping ground. I know on news sites that readers vote on comments and they are hidden if they have a lot of negative votes, but you have the option to read them. A lot of them are racist or sexist comments so its nice to have the option to hide the hate speech.

BC - I hope you enjoy your trip out west!

Mayo - Thank you for the post! I have never had the misfortune to run over an animal on the road, but I have narrowly missed a squirrel or two!

Though I believe the poem to be a metaphor as well.

Anyway, that's all for now - I hope to be by again soon.

Queen of the May

Now the winter is gone and the summer is come
And the meadows and plantains (plantings) so gay
I heard a fair maid so sweetly she sung
And her cheeks like the blossoms in May

Young Johnny the plowboy his cheeks like a rose
So cheery he sings to the plow
And the blackbird and thrush on every green bush
And the pretty girl a-milking her cow

As I walked through the fields to take the fresh air
And the meadows andi plantains so gay
I heard a young damsel so sweetiy she sung
And her cheeks like the blossoms in May
Y

I says,"Pretty fair maid, oh how come you here
In this meadow this morning so gay?"
This maid she replied, "Sir to gather me some may
For the trees they are all now in bloom."

I says, "My pretty fair maid shall I tarry with you
In this meadow this morning so gay?"
This maid she replied, "Are you so innocent
For fear you might lead me astray?"

I took this fair maid by the lily white hand
And on the green mossy bank set her down
And I planted a kiss on her red ruby lips
And the small birds a-singing all around

And when we arose from the green mossy bank
Through the meadow we wandered away
I had plowed by (my) true love on the green mossy bank
And I plucked her a handful of may

And when we arose she gave me a smile
And thanked me for what I had done
For I planted a kiss on her red ruby lips
For believe me those ne'er would I shun

'Twas early next morning I made her my bride
That the world would have nothing to say
And the bells they shall ring and the bridesmaids shall sing
And I'll crown her the queen of the May

Staine's Morris
Traditional - A May Song

[Chorus]
Then to the maypole, haste away
For 'tis now our holiday
Then to the maypole, haste away
For 'tis now our holiday

Come ye young men, come along
With your music dance and song
Bring your lasses in your hands
For 'tis that which love commands

[chorus]

'Tis the choise time of the year
And the violets now appear
Now the rose receives its birth
And pretty primrose decks the earth

[chorus]

Here each bachlor may choose
One that will not faith abuse
Now repay with coy distain
Love that should be lov'd again

[chorus]

And when you well reckoned have
What kisses you your sweethearts gave
Take them all again, and more
It will never make them poor.

[chorus]

When you thus have spent the time
Till the day be past its prime
To your beds repair at night
And dream there of your day's delight

WTF! Okay, I just skimmed a little. It's not just me. I didn't know what that was all about, I figured I would test it out because maybe it was a bug? Gomen nasai!

I won't delete any more of your anonymous comments.

But, I don't like that option! I think it should remain in control of the blog owner. WTH? It's just weird!

Okay, I just wanted to say that but I see some folks already know.

Have a great day, Mayo.

No, I would be frustrated if anyone could delete anonymous comments! Some of my favorite commenters are anonymous, like Mayo, S(S)S and Calaf, don't forget! Can't you imagine how people would be deleting those nice anons? They don't deserve that.

And if we'd still been posting poetry and all that stuff, you can bet that would not last either. Stewie Griffin, Fox Mulder and Kool Aid, as well as various Japanese and Chinese poets would never have stood a chance. ;)

Not that we do any of that stuff anymore but you know, just on principle? I totally believe that only the blog owner should decide what stays and what goes. I know if people came along to my blog (when I had one) and started deleting my comments, I would be pissed.

Hey I put up a picture in my LJ (linked in my name) of the ring my Gran left me. It's so beautiful.

It's raining today and all foggy like it usually is on Beltane. Don't you feel like you could just disappear into the mist and end up in Avalon or something?

Later taters. ^_^

I'm sure you still have one somewhere.

Anonymous said...

This is important to me.

"Farm to Fridge." It is what it sounds like: videos of how animals go from the farm to your fridge.

Don't watch these videos unless you are really ready to.They are cruel, disgusting, heartbreaking. I don't care how you feel about farm animals, even if you've never seen one in your life you will be upset by these videos. There's a guy stomping on a live pig, just because he can.

Unless you want to be affected, then spare yourself the knowledge. Ignorance might not be bliss, but sometimes it's better than knowing, especially if you know you're not going to change anything.

But if anyone DOES want to know, there it is.

PUTTING IN THE SEED

" You come to fetch me from my work to-night
When supper's on the table, and we'll see
If I can leave off burying the white
Soft petals fallen from the apple tree
(Soft petals, yes, but not so barren quite,
Mingled with these, smooth bean and wrinkled pea;)
And go along with you ere you lose sight
Of what you came for and become like me,
Slave to a springtime passion for the earth.
How Love burns through the Putting in the Seed
On through the watching for that early birth
When, just as the soil tarnishes with weed,

The sturdy seedling with arched body comes
Shouldering its way and shedding the earth crumbs.

Here are the lyrics for anyone who wants to sing/rap along!!!!

"Rock/Rap SuperStar"
Cypress Hill

[chorus:]
[B Real]
So you wanna be a rap/rock superstar, and live large
a big house, 5 cars, you're in charge
comin' up in the world, don't trust no body
gotta look over your shoulder constantly

[B Real:]
I remember the days when I was a young kid growing up
looking in the mirror, dreaming about blowing up
the rock crowd, make money, chill with the honeys
sign autographs or whatever the people want from me
it's funny how impossible dreams manifest
and the games that be comin with it
nevertheless
you got to go for the gusto but you don't know
about the blood, sweat and tears
and losing some of your fears
and losing some of yourself to the years past,
gone by
hopefully it don't manifest
for the wrong guy
egomaniac and the brainiac
don't know how to act
48 tracks
studio gangster, mack,
sign the deal, thinks he's gonna make a mil
but never will til he crosses over
still filling your head with fantasies
come with me, show the sacrifice it takes to make the cheese

You wanna be a rap/rock superstar in the biz
and take shit from people who don't know what it is
I wish it was all fun and games but the price of fame is high
and some cant pay the way
still trapped in what you rapping about
tell me what happened when you lost
the route you took started collapsing
no fans no fame no respect no change no women
and everybody shittin on your name

[chorus X2]

[Sen: (only in Rock version)]
you ever have big dreams of making real cream
big shot, heavy hitter on the main
and you wanna look trendy
in the Bentley, be a snob and never act friendly
you wanna have big fame, let me explain
what happends to these stars and their big brains
first they get played like all damn day
long as you sell everything will be OK
then you get dissed by the media and fans
things never stay the same way they began
I heard that some never give full to the fullest
that's while fools end up dining on the bullet
think everything's fine in the big time
see me in my Lex with chrome raised high
so you wanna roll far
and live large
it ain't all that goes with being a rock star

[chorus X2]

[B Real:]
my own son don't know me
I'm chilling in the hotel room lonely
but I thank God I'm with my homies
but sometimes I wish I was back home
but only no radio or video didn't show me
no love, the phony, gotta hit the road slowly
so the record gets pushed by Sony
I'm in the middle like mony
and the press say that my own people disown me
and the best way back
is to keep your head straight, never inflate the cranium
they're too worried about them honies at the Palladium (a venu in LA)
who just wanna cling on, swing on, and so on
go on, fall off, the ho's roll on
til the next rap superstar
with no shame
give em a year, he'll be right out the game
the same as the last one who came before him
gained fame, started gettin ignored, I warned him
assured him, this ain't easy take it from Weezy
sleezy people wanna be so cheesy, the fucking people [gun cock noise]

[whispered:] assassins, assassins

My son did watch that video. He has been a vegetarian since he watched it. He hasn't ate meat since December. He supports PETA now. He has a few of those images on his myspace. That video did affect him and i support him in his decision. He has even converted some of his friends into vegetarians. I'm not going to lie, at first it scared me. He is skinny as it is and at first i thought he was going to starve. He is a big vegetable eater anyway. He is a bigger person than me because even though i watched it, i still eat meat. mayo,

it was a wonderful morning, an unexpected gift.

i got up early, took a shower, and was pouring my coffee when, on a whim, i decided to step outside.

it was an overcast morning -- we had rain and thunderstorms most of the day -- but at that moment of the invisible sunrise, the light was filtered through the cloud cover in such a way that it made everything glow with a golden light, almost as if lit from within. it was irresistable.

i stepped outside and literally filled my sight with the vibrant green, every tree, every blade of grass, each leaf -- all sparkling with dew and rain and saturated color. i ate it up, and inevitably, felt the need to pray.

and afterwards, equally necessary, i walked out onto the lawn in my bare feet, waded through the wet until i found a patch of wild mint, and stooped to wash my hands and face in the dew.

i walked around the yard for a good long while, grinning at just being a part of the light and life bursting out from every corner, kissing the wet orange blossoms, listening to the birds singing the dawn song, tasting the wet sweetness of the air.

finally, i went back inside, got my coffee, continued with my day.

took me until after lunch to come down off my high, though. *grin*

every moment is an event waiting to be savored, nothing is too small to imbue you with beauty, you just have to open to the world whispering at your elbow.

good night, mayo. hope you listen, too.

Mayo

So how was your day? Mine was pretty good, nothing to write home about but not bad so that is a plus. I bought some interesting books and about 100 comics, enough to keep me busy and out of trouble for a day or so.

Just got back from taking Fred home. Strange things are afoot out there tonight. I passed at least ten police cars on the way. One flipped around, followed me for a bit, then passed and waved before driving on. That was a little freaky. I suppose there is a good chance that it probably means someone “wandered” off from one of the prisons. That’s usually what it means when so many police are out and about around here. Oh well I have Jake and Big E to protect me. Okay, not too sure about Jake but Big E would protect me. It’s a weird night to be all alone, that’s for sure. I just know my imagination is gonna start running wild and pretty soon I’ll be hearing all sorts of noises.

Maybe I’ll just go watch some TV or read the Joe Hill book I’ve started. It’s very good by the way. The title is “20th Century Ghosts” So far I’m really enjoying it. Oh and I’ve just read the first issue of a comic called “Bite Club.” It’s entertaining too.

Well have yourself a nice night and a great tomorrow. But beware of things that go bump in the night!

Night Mayo

Holy crap

It's almost 4 in the morning and I'm still not sleeping. Blame Joe Hill.

And why you ask am I here again? Hell if I know. Okay so it's my safe place. I don't know why but I'm just so damn restless tonight and the cyotoes are so damn loud it's unnerving.

Okay enough. I'm just being silly. It will be morning soon. The night is almost done, the sun awaits. Darkness will fade and the light will vanquish the shadows.

Goodnight again, Mayo

Goodnight SS (I may not always speak to you directly but that doesn't mean you aren't in my thoughts. You do know that, right?)

MOTHERF*CKIN' GAMBIT! It's always about Tim Riggins, people. Tim Riggins makes everything better. :)

You have Charlie from Lost, or one of the hobbits from LOTR.

You have the Blob!

You have Ms. Jay from America's Next Top Model! Okay, not really but I swear Solly and I kind of did the little 'head to the side puppy dog' look.

And as TJ pointed out, a naked Hugh Jackman.

Well, Mayo, even guys were like DAMN! at a naked Hugh Jackman. :)

Plus, one of the most badass lines ever:

"I'm gonna cut your goddamned head off and see if that works." Or something like that! YEAH!

But my husband decided to go see 17Again instead.

Yeah. Do the little 'head to the side puppy dog' look. Go ahead. It's okay. I just gasped in horror and shook my head. My son was like, "Ummm, Wolverine will be much cooler, daddy." And that boy did not move the entire time. He took it all in! Unlike a certain movie about a big green superhero that likes to smash things when he gets angry. Ha.

Have a good one, Mayo!

Enjoy some sunshine today if possible! And then go sit in a dark theater and watch Wolverine! Twice!

I do not know what he sees, but I see
eyes of surpassing tenderness

blue-gray-green of his iris, I love
the curve of it against the white,
that curve the site of what has caused me
to come, when he's quite still, deep
inside me. I have never seen a curve
like that, except the earth from outer
space. I don't know where he got
his kindness without self-regard,
almost without self, and yet
he chose one woman, instead of the others.
By knowing him, I get to know
the purity of the animal
which mates for life. Sometimes he is slightly
smiling, but mostly he just gazes at me gazing,
his entire face lit. I love
to see it change if I cry--there is no worry,
no pity, a graver radiance. If we
are on our backs, side by side,
with our faces turned fully to face each other,
I can hear a tear from my lower eye
hit the sheet, as if it is an early day on earth,
and then the upper eye's tears
braid and sluice down through the lower eyebrow
like the invention of farming, irrigation, a non-nomadic people.
I am so lucky that I can know him.
This is the only way to know him.
I am the only one who knows him.
When I wake again, he is still looking at me,
as if he is eternal. For an hour
we wake and doze, and slowly I know
that though we are sated, though we are hardly
touching, this is the coming the other
brought us to the edge of--we are entering,
deeper and deeper, gaze by gaze,
this place beyond the other places,
beyond the body itself, we are making
love.

HI!

Forgot to wish everyone a great Beltane/Walpurgis Night yesterday. I hope everyone enjoyed May Day.

Have a good one, guys!

Have to get ready for a medical staff death party, so I must make gory bits of stuff and costume bits, so I can't stay, but it doesn't look like anyone is here anyway!

And I am glad they took the trash cans away. :)

PS - BC are you going out west, or did I get it wrong? *hugs* for you! in any case

Hello Mayo, SS, Amy, Miranth, various anons and lurkers!

I am JAZZ FEST~ed out!!!! It was great though!!!! Cowboy Mouth was wonderful ~ as always! Apparently, Bonerama wasn't tired out from their set soooo... they just played with Cowboy Mouth too!

Then came KINGS OF LEON!!!!!! Yes, they rocked my world (and everyone else near the Gentilly Stage).
They were brilliant!

Of course, after them I had to stop by the Fais Do~Do Stage and do some Fais Do Do~ing (that would be dancing, singing, jumping around and a doing a little drinking ~ for folks who don't speak Jazz Fest).

Then I finally made it all the way to the opposite end of The Fairgrounds to catch Bon Jovi's last three songs. Well, that was better than not catching any of them!!! Might I say, those last three songs were fantastic!!!

Somewhere/sometime, during the day, I was also able to catch a little of the Midnite Disturbers. They were magnificent!!!

Now, I am sticky, dusty and exhausted. I want my bed but must shower first!! I simply can not go to bed sticky and dusty.
:P

Pictures and videos coming soon... I think!

Sweetcheeks: I hope you had a great time at the birthday party!!! Was your brother surprised? Did you wear that dress and those high heels?

I shall look for the answers and pictures tomorrow.

Have a great night, everyone! Sweet dreams to one and all!!!!

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

He was not surprised. He kinda figured they were throwing a party for him. The catering was excellent, and of course, I had a few to drink, but the food was delicious. Yep, I did wear a dress and heels, and I got my hair done as well. I hope you're well sugarplum

Hey Wendy!

Your Jazzfest sounds like our Warped Tour day!

You leave the house with a rolling backpack full of frozen water bottles, 45 SPF, extra clothes, pencils and paper. Cash only in the pockets, because the ATM line is in competition for Longest Line in The World.

Pass through the security check, and make sure everyone has a charged cellphone, set to vibrate because you sure as hell won't hear it ring.

First stop is the Giant Inflatable Board to see who is playing, where, and when. Immediately, the pencils and paper come in handy as we all decide who we want to see, and who we'll have to miss. "WHAT? Why is Oreskaband playing at the same time as The Academy Is...?"
Cellphone clocks are synced up, and we split into groups or pairs.

The first few bands of the day are fresh faced, and the heat has not hit them yet. It's only 11am, but The Weather Network is your friend, and you know it's going to be 28 degrees out, celcius motherfuckers! The girls wear tank tops with bikini tops underneath. The boys wear all black. Always. And no SPF at all. Boys. :P

By 12:30, the food is cooking over at the tents, and someone goes to stand in the ticket line while another stands in the food and drink line. 4 chicken burgers, 2 hotdogs and a Caramel Drumstick later, it's gotten well past the 28 expected degrees, and everyone is hunting for shelter from the cloudless blue sky.

The dust is flying and people are using recently purchased band shirts to cover faces and eyes.

We sit behind some of the tents on merch row and annex some of the shade offered there. Anyone exposing any skin to the merch guys get shot with a water gun, repeatedly, and nobody complains.

The lineup for the water truck now far exceeds the lineup for the ATM, food and the beer gardens.

By 5pm, everyone is on the main grounds, by the two main stages. The heat has people stretched out on the dirty grass, spraying water at each other, and starting a mud pit by one of the less attended water trucks. Paramedics saunter through, checking people with serious sunburns, and handing out aspirins to people with headaches. Water is passed freely to people who ask for it, and a cold bottle of suntan lotion makes its way down the wall and back up again, with many thanks.

The boys stink, and the girls have tanlines. The moshpits rage, and the dirt and sweat fly. Nobody is spared. It is a musical war, and we're all casualties.

There is always one band that everyone is there to see. That band always plays within the last two hours of the day, and the sea of people ebbs and swells in time to the music.

When the day is over, there's still a two hour wait to get out of the parking lot.

By the time you finally get home, you have to piss so badly you almost kick the glass out of the patio door to get in.

The hot shower is too hot, the dirt turns the tub into a silty mess, and the extra clothes are forgotten in the back of the truck.

You're sunburnt, deaf, sore and have 6 new CDS, 3 shirts, and 4 ticket stubs.

This year, you will do it all over again for the last time. Warped Tour only comes once a year, and Race City isn't forever.

I'm glad to hear Ergo is enjoying herself, and that it's not hot overnight too. That's the only thing about camping that I hate. You bring your sleeping bag, and you roast in it all night.

2 hours later....

How was your day though Teej?

Amy, thanks for the Hawks support. My guess, you guys don't like Vancouver?

I'm trying to get the new Vampire Diaries that just came out back in February, but instead I got the latest edition of the Sookie Stack house novel. So far I'm on page 9.

A couple of other L.J. Smith novels are being reprinted as well. Dark Visions is coming out this fall, and Forbidden Game is coming out next summer. I can't wait.

Strange Fate, according to her, is going to be at least over 1,000 pages long.

mayo,

i spent the day outdoors, in green and quiet places. my sister has really taken to being a contributor for findagrave.com and goes out almost every saturday with maps and a list of names.

it was good to be able to go with her today. we always seem to have fun when driving around, and while she's doing her searches, i wander the rows, keeping an eye out for the names she needs, but mostly taking pictures of my own and wondering about the people who used to be.

the names, the inscriptions, the different designs...it's a sad pastime and yet it isn't. the markers that are old and worn and even broken on the ground are the ones that attract my eye, i find them irresistably beautiful.

and yet it was a lively, energizing day.

good night, mayo.

Mayo

Today was one of those days where I keep thinking to myself why on earth did I get out of bed. Seriously everything I touched turned to shit. But you know about halfway through the day instead of getting angry or upset I just decided to accept and move on. I think it’s important to be able to do that. By evening I was laughing at all the crazy, stupid things that had happened. My whole attitude had changed to one of – oh well tomorrow will be better. Got my fingers crossed. (and my toes)

So now I’ll take a long, hot bubble bath and read some more of Joe Hill’s book. And in the morning I’ll start all over again. Maybe tomorrow I won’t fall off a ladder reaching a top shelf, have an employee make a $1,300 void, or accidentally smash an antique vase. Then again, maybe tomorrow will suck too. But I’m determined to start the day off hopeful.

Hope your day was a good one. Hope you didn’t fall off any ladders. Take care.

It's beautiful outside. =)

20000 copies at a whopping 2.99 a pop. Wow. That's about $60,000.00. Even with the earlier issues selling much better, I doubt the whole Dallas series will bring in more than a million dollars, which has to cover printing costs, Dark Horses' profits, Gabriel Ba and Dave Stewart's salaries, etc.

Of course the trade will probably sell a bit better when it comes out, mainly because fangirls can buy it at the local Borders, but still. Not exactly a cash cow they've got going there.

If Gerard was really that serious about his art and all that stuff, he wouldn't really care how much money he made from it. However, he probably is bothered.

I don't understand why a film would be made based on it. It's not exactly well known, like Spiderman or X-Men or anything like that. The fan girls will probably be the only people who go and see it.

It makes me laugh though, because there's probably some guy out there who'd give his left arm for a movie to be made of one of his comics and has worked really hard for years to get it noticed or whatever. Then Gerard Way prances out of nowhere and gets all this recognition for his comic. If GW wasn't 'famous' for being in MCR, I doubt very much that anyone would have heard of TUA and there definetley wouldn't be talk of the film. April 29, 2009 4:45 AM

I think Dark Horse is hoping to get the Manga audience with TUA. In other words, they were hoping that teenage girls would come out in droves to buy TUA and then get into other comics.

They should have gotten a Jonas Brother to write a comic for them instead. Or better yet, Robert Pattinson.

Of course, it is Dark Horse's truly brilliant series, and the art and writing make Gerard's work look way more toolish by comparison, so there's that.

I guess you get what you pay for.

April 29, 2009 7:13 AM

All of these are just so weird and so original.

I mean, when you compare them to something like The Umbrella Academy?

Umm, let's see, a bunch of kids with extra speshul powerz are mentored by a rich father figure and they have to go and save the world as well as resolving their own personal identities and place in the world.

Uhh, wow, now where have I heard of that premise before? Gosh, it sounds so familiar! No, wait, don't tell me! It's right there on the tip of my tongue! It'll come to me.

I'm pretty sure it's people who listen to her good buddies MSI that aren't exactly voting "yes" on gay marriage since to then, all gays are f@gs!

People like this piss me off, you can't support one thing, then speak out against it, completely condraditing themselves.

It's like calling someone a homo/f@ggot/queer and then saying "I had my fingers crossed, I'm completely pro-gay." May 2, 2009 4:02 AM

You know what really pisses me off, that it's becoming so kewl to be politically correct and speak up about being pro gay marriage or against racism, anti-Semitism etc., but apparently it is so not kewl to speak out against misogyny.
Why is it so easy for people to post statements about being against homophobia, but can't do the same thing when it comes to sexism?
Why is it that women, who are fighting misogyny are called ugly dykes or hags who couldn't get laid and men who are fighting it are called faggots and pussies?
Why is one act of discrimination acceptable and the others not?
What's the difference?
Is it really only because any other kind of discrimination apart from misogyny does affect (heterosexual) men?
Is the human dignity of a man more worth protecting than a woman's dignity?

I really wonder how long we'll have to wait until it becomes really cool for teenagers France's age to twitter about being pro feminism?
I guess, we'll have to wait a long, long time for that to happen. If it will ever happen at all!

Sorry for the rant.

However, on the other hand, at least in MCR fandom that could be because of how hard Gerard ditched his faux-feminism. If he had still been babbling about "if some sleazy rock star asks you to lift your shirt, spit in his face" etc. then I guess feminism would still be all the rage.

But ever since his "little girls eff yourselves and moan for me" junk, it's "LULZIES you guys take feminism too seriously, Gee was just kidding, LOL, you'll never get a man with that attitude!"

- Ms Ballato will not return to MSI. Her ever-loving devoted husband will support her and their amazing baby.

- MSI's days are numbered; thanks to the economic downturn and many people's return to conservative values.

- Young teen girls will continue to be the main revenue base for MCR, despite their efforts to be more punk/hardcore/rock/whatever. May 2, 2009 6:19 PM

OpenID kapunua said...

I'm not so sure about the "conservative values" part, although I think it depends on what your definition is of "conservative."

Many conservatives in the US would support the ideals--if not the way of expressing them--that MSI hold. MSI's message is anti-gay, anti-feminism, pretty much anti-minority. And if you're correct about Lindsey quitting her job because she finally got a rich guy to support her... Umm, yeah. A lot of right wing conservatives in this country have a similar outlook. ;D

However if by "conservative" you mean a stronger stance against things like sex crimes perhaps (or being joyful or all "OMG LULZIES!" about sex crimes) then I could see where you're coming from.

May 2, 2009 7:04 PM

OpenID kapunua said...

I guess my whole point about MSI is that for as much as they try to be all shocking with the lyrics and the infantile, "I'm still in the anal phase" swearing, the metaphorical nose-picking they do and stuff, in reality they're saying so much of what the conservative right wing has been saying all along:

Homosexuality is bad, women are objects, minorities are not as worthy.

They just use 12 year old schoolyard language to do so.
May 2, 2009 7:06 PM

They are not punks As much as they see themselves as rebelling against tradition, and values that other people question as norms, they are almost poster children for it. As Kapunua noted, it's all infantile.

God forbid something did go wrong with Lindsey's pregnancy. Those people will have a field day with it.

Anonymous said...

They probably would. Can you imagine the "i knew it's" the "it's all GW's fault's" and the "what did they expect's".

Worse than what they say would be the complete lack of respect, compassion and empathy behind their words.

Anonymous said...

I don't get those people. If they don't like him, his wife, his comic or his band, then why spend so much time obsessing? Why dwell on something which is only gonna bring negativity?

Anonymous said...

Because, making other people look small makes you look bigger. A low effort way to jack up an ego.

The energy could be better used, but it is much easier to wallow and spit.

Anonymous said...

Ever heard "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" anon.

The problem isn't that they don't like him. The problem is that they used to like him too much for their own good.

He let them down. He disappointed them. He betrayed them.

You see, it's not about him. It's all about them.

Their feelings. Their expectations. Their needs. Their desires. Their fantasies.

GW ruined all of that for them and became an unoriginal, mediocre anti christ in doing so.

Hate never gets you anywhere. That's why we go over there to vent. Instead of getting angry we just laugh about the situation. We also go over there to chat. Kind of like here.

There's no hate. Some frustration maybe, but mostly just pointing and laughing. There are some people who are worried about the baby just like there are people who are /were worried about Britney Spear's baby.

Egyptian Poetry

"I.
Your love has penetrated all within me Like honey plunged into water,
Like an odor which penetrates spices, As when one mixes juice in clay...

Nevertheless you run to seek your sister, Like the steed upon the battlefield,
As the warrior rolls along on the spokes of his wheels.
For heaven makes your love Like the advance of flames in straw,
And its longing like the downward swoop of a hawk.

II.
Disturbed is the condition of my pool. The mouth of my sister is a rosebud.
Her breast is a perfume. Her arm is a (?) bough Which offers a delusive seat.
Her forehead is a snare of meryu-wood.
I am a wild goose, a hunted one, My gaze is at your hair,
At a bait under the trap That is to catch me.

III.
Is my heart not softened by your love- longing for me?
My dogfoot-(fruit) which excites your passions
Not will I allow it To depart from me.
Although cudgeled even to the "Guard of the overflow,"
To Syria, with shebod-rods and clubs, To Kush, with palm-rods,
To the highlands, with switches To the lowlands, with twigs,
Never will I listen to their counsel To abandon longing.

IV.
The voice of the wild goose cries, Where she has seized their bait,
But your love holds me back, I am unable to liberate her.
I must, then, take home my net! What shall I say to my mother,
To whom formerly I came each day Loaded down with fowls?
I shall not set the snares today For your love has caught me.

V.
The wild goose flies up and soars, She sinks down upon the net.
The birds cry in flocks, But I hasten homeward,
Since I care for your love alone.
My heart yearns for your breast,
I cannot sunder myself from your attractions.

VI.
Thou beautiful one! My heart's desire is To procure for you
your food as your husband, My arm resting upon your arm.
You have changed me by your love. Thus say I in my heart, In my soul, at my prayers:
"I lack my commander tonight, I am as one dwelling in a tomb."
Be you but in health and strength, Then the nearness of your countenance
Sheds delight, by reason of your well-being, Over a heart ,
which seeks you with longing.

VII.
The voice of the dove calls, It says: "The earth is bright."
What have I to do outside?
Stop, thou birdling! You chide me!
I have found my brother in his bed,
My heart is glad beyond all measure. We each say:
"I will not tear myself away."
My hand is in his hand. I wander together with him
To every beautiful place. He makes me the first of maidens,
Nor does he grieve my heart.

VIII.
Sa'am plants are in it, In the presence of
which one feels oneself uplifted!
I am your darling sister, I am to you
like a bit of land, With each shrub of grateful fragrance.
Lovely is the water -conduit in it, Which your hand has dug,
While the north wind cooled us. A beautiful place to wander,
Your hand in my hand, My soul inspired My heart in bliss,
Because we go together.
New wine it is, to hear your voice;
I live for hearing it. To see you with each look,
Is better than eating and drinking.

IX.
Ta-'a-ti-plants are in it! I take your garlands away,
When you come home drunk,
And when you are lying in your bed
When I touch your feet, And children are in your (?).....

I rise up rejoicing in the morning
Your nearness means to me health and strength.
"

The Flower Song (Excerpt)

"To hear your voice
is pomegranate wine to me:
I draw life from hearing it.
Could I see you with every glance,
It would be better for me
Than to eat or to drink.

If I could just be the washerman
doing her laundry for one month only,
I would be faithful to pick up the bundles,
Sturdy to beat clean the heavy linens,
But gentle to touch those finespun things
lying closest the body I love.

I would rinse with pure water the perfumes
that linger still in her tunics,
And I’d dry my own flesh with the towels
she yesterday held to her face.

The touch of her clothes, their textures,
her softness in them . . . Thank god for the body,
its youthful vigor!

Part 2

And I'd say, standing there tall in the shallows:
Look at my fish, love, how it lies in my hand,
How my fingers caress it, slip down its sides . . .

But then I'd say softer, eyes bright with your seeing:
A gift, love. No words. Come closer and look,
it's all me.

I wish I were your mirror so that you always looked at me.

I wish I were your garment so that you would always wear me.

I wish I were the water that washes your body.

I wish I were the unguent, O woman, that I could annoint you.

And the band around your breasts, and the beads around your neck.

I wish I were your sandal that you wear me!

O my beautiful one, I wish I were part of your affairs, like a wife.
With your hand in mine your love would be returned.

I implore my heart: "If my true love stays away tonight,
I shall be like someone already in the grave."
Are you not my health and my life?
How joyful is your good health for the heart that seeks you!
"

Song of The Flower

"I am a kind word uttered and repeated
By the voice of Nature;
I am a star fallen from the
Blue tent upon the green carpet.
I am the daughter of the elements
With whom Winter conceived;
To whom Spring gave birth; I was
Reared in the lap of Summer and I
Slept in the bed of Autumn.

At dawn I unite with the breeze
To announce the coming of light;
At eventide I join the birds
In bidding the light farewell.

The plains are decorated with
My beautiful colors, and the air
Is scented with my fragrance.

As I embrace Slumber the eyes of
Night watch over me, and as I
Awaken I stare at the sun, which is
The only eye of the day.

I drink dew for wine, and hearken to
The voices of the birds, and dance
To the rhythmic swaying of the grass.

I am the lover's gift; I am the wedding wreath;
I am the memory of a moment of happiness;
I am the last gift of the living to the dead;
I am a part of joy and a part of sorrow.

But I look up high to see only the light,
And never look down to see my shadow.
This is wisdom which man must learn.
"

Don't tell me we're not like plants,
sending out a shoot when we need to,
or spikes, poisonous oils, or flowers.

Come to me but only when I say,
that's how plants announce

the rules of propagation.
Even children know this. You can
see them imitating all the moves

with their bright plastic toys.
So that, years later, at the moment

the girl's body finally says yes
to the end of childhood,
a green pail with an orange shovel

will appear in her mind like a tropical
blossom she has never seen before.

I have to agree completely with this anon. It is one thing to be concerned and express that, but when there are undertones of mocking, that is a line that should not be crossed. Not just for the people being offended, but the people doing the offense. It's not good for anyone.

And if anyone believes that people who make their living via the entertainment world are the ONLY ones who have little forethought, or awareness of how to properly bring a child into their lives and raise it -then, those people are sadly more ignorant than those they mock. And there is nothing funny about that.

No one is perfect. And if that was a requirement to Have Children, humanity would have died out long ago. It's sickening how try and sad that is.

Anyway, so wonderful to see more poetry here. I do think it helps. And I did believe people were trying to get along better of late, especially on this post. I hope that continues despite the attempts to derail it.

-Sdock, I've never seen such a snake before! What a pretty color! Most of the ones I have encountered have been garden snakes, black and yellow, muddy brown. Nothing like that! So shiny! Thanks for that!

Amyranth said...

Well BC, if you're in a shitty mood, and you need a good laugh, I would suggest this movie.

My major, MASSIVE problem is that, okay, the acting is what it is. It's a vampire movie, and they all have to pretend to be vampires.

(No fangs, none of them have FREAKING fangs. I. DONT. GET IT!)

Anyway, they're pretending, and doing a not so bad job of it. RPattz portrayal of Edward The 107-Year Old Virgin isn't as bad as Kristen Stewart's portrayal of someone who couldn't choke out a full sentence if her life was hanging in the balance over a river of rabies infested crocodiles.

Here's the entire movie, in a simple synopsis.

Edward: Hello Bella. I'm going to be your lab partner.

Bella: OGGH CKHHKDHR! *GAG* *CHOKE* *FLAIL*

Jacob: Hey Bella, what do you think of my dad's truck? I rebuilt the engine.

Bella: Oh, hey! That's cool, check the dent in the side.

Edward: Bella, can I pick you up and drive you to my parents place?

Bella: HORK URGH KAAACKH UCK UCK!! *FLAIL* :O

I SHIT YOU NOT.
