Chiral

That is not me
Through the mirror
From which I see
Spouting lies
And histories
None that matter
Not to me.

In reverie
I am fabled
Often wickedly
Sprouting eyes
like mysteries
A ghost blown curtain
Through which you see.

And it cycles
Its cycles.

I do not know why.

This is called irony.....

Anonymous said...

Especially since MJ's comment was anonymous.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I know, and the cat and mouse game she played after it... bet you don't really know who I am.

The whole thing was sick. She is a sick person on the inside.

Seriously who does something like that to someone who just lost someone in their family? I can't imagine it??

Anonymous said...

So you know exactly what was said 11:02, you just didn't jump to conclusions.

I can't imagine it either. Thats because I have a heart. I don't go into someone's grieving process and start picking them apart.

I am GLAD I can't imagine it. I don't want to be the kind of person who is like that.

Anonymous said...

I'm not nearly interested enough in you to visit your home. No one knows you? Odd, you sure seem to know everyone. Don't get enough attention by name? Poor thing.

Anonymous said...

I know what was said because it was posted here. Everyone saw it even if they pretend they didn't.

Appauling.

This is called Irony....

Anonymous said...

Why should anyone email you, I decided what kind of person you are and I doubt that you trying to tell me your not will change anything.

You did a wrong thing. You acted cruel to someone and you are getting off on it. You have no remorse and no heart so...... tell me what would emailing you accomplish.

Anonymous said...

Really? Then you must have seen the curse too. Or that's not disgusting enough for you?

Anonymous said...

Irony, not so much. I have no Blogger name to use. If you want me to have a name, I'm afraid we'll have to make something up.

Anonymous said...

"What does it matter what kind of person I am ."

Ummmmm because that is how people function???

Why did it matter to you if Kapu didn't want to talk about her grandmother or if she DID?

You acted like a heartless person. So that is how I see you.

Anonymous said...

" Anonymous said...

I saw it, it wasn't nice but you don't seem to upset that MJ acted the way she did to a grieving person.

Besides I still think 616 wrote it to see if the porch would take it down and to make MJ look better.

After all they have there fancy anonymous web pages or something.

Anonymous said...

Why is it that when K is rude, we're reminded this is 'only a blog' yet when it's anyone else, it's a punishable crime?

Anonymous said...

I saw it, it wasn't nice but you don't seem to upset that MJ acted the way she did to a grieving person. You have a double standard anon.

Anonymous said...

Rude, there is a difference between being rude and attacking someone over the way they are dealing with their grief.

Anonymous said...

Who reminded that it is "only a blog".

Anonymous said...

I see a huge difference in the way she gets treated.

Everyone here is "rude" to someone else at some time.

But when she is "rude" to someone.... she loses her job. Her home-town info gets posted.

Even when she isn't "rude" and is mourning. Someone attacks her.

It is..... a little weird.

Anonymous said...

Amyranth is the rudest person here (and Wendy too, bitch, cunt, rot in hell I think she said that to Karen or Carrie) and you never see them get taken out on them like that.

Anonymous said...

11:19, don't bother with that. They will use the usual "she was asking for it" routine.

Anonymous said...

Maybe she should stop being rude?

Anonymous said...

I know I know. It's OK to treat her like shit if she so much as looks at you the wrong way. Everyone else is off limits. Smooch.

MJ have fun crashing into funeral homes and telling people you don't agree with what they are doing.

Anonymous said...

" Anonymous said...

Maybe she should stop being rude?

April 22, 2009 11:20 PM"

I haven't actually seen her be rude in probably more then a year. And I have seen many more of you regulars being much ruder..... more frequently.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Anon I am not going to tell you what kind of person i am. I really don't give a shit what yo think about me.

I just think that if you have a problem with a person you should try to take it to them and not drag in a bunch of other people who are not involved in it.

Also don't yo thing bring it up over and over again might hurt someone else. I am "heartless" after. So don't you think giving me all this attention would make me happy.

Anonymous said...

I've actually never seen her get rude unless someone was rude to her first. With these others it comes out of nowhere. MJ didn't like that she asked not to talk about her dead grandmother.

That is dusgusting.

MJ is constantly rude. She has something to say about everyone. Gerard, his friends, every one.

Anonymous said...

"

Like you did? By posting on a public board how you didn't like how she was handling her granma death.

Very classy.

I don't think you've ever been happy.

Anonymous said...

Oh please, Kapu's whole blog is about her sadness about her grandmother and how Gerard is "ruining" her game. She is rude abotu Gerard too.

Her grandmother was old. Do we really need to keep hearing about it?

Anonymous said...

Why don't you just tell us all who you rally are, BECKI.

Anonymous said...

Almost every single post has been about her grandmother her dog or Gerard messing up her game. She doesn't have a life.

But she does have some "fans" and "BECKI" is one of them. I think Becki is this anon.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

MJ there is a difference between the thrill you get when you are funeral crashing and being mean to mourning people... and when you are truly happy.

I don't think you understand it.

Anonymous said...

Some women carry themselves a bit classier in public than others. Just like you/sarcasm

Anonymous said...

I am not "Becki", I don't know any Becki but yes I do read her journal sometimes. I like it and I think the lady has class and humour.

Anonymous said...

BECKI!!!!!!!

Hears Background Music....dun dun dun

Anonymous said...

Why are we arguing with MJ. She is proud of herself for being "stubborn", she likes the fact that you can't reason with her even when most normal people agree that you don't have to run up to mourning people and tell them that you judge their mourning, as wrong.

It makes no sense.... She thinks' she is right. Fighting and hurting others.... she likes it.

Just let her keep spelling things in her crazy way and enjoying the stress she causes. In the end the only one it's going to hurt is her though.

Anonymous said...

I just can't imagine a life where my idea of a good time was to tell people that I didn't like how they were mourning.

Anonymous said...

11:36 you are right. I can't believe I sat here for a half an hour.

I was so shocked and upset I had to get it out of my system. I have lost people too. If someone said something like that to me I would throw something at them. And it wouldn't take me as long LOL.

Whoever the person was who made up the "curse" (I still think 616) didn't need to.

Anyone who could treat someone like the way MJ treats, is already in misery.

it was a pretty slow day, actually. last year the opening day of the quilt show had the store packed butt-to-butt apparently, but attendance is down this year.

and then store drama dragged it out several hours longer...bleh.

but it ended very nicely. :)

it always takes awhile to return to the usual way of doing things when you've been gone, especially when it was as sudden a trip as your was, carrie. hang in there, consume your beverage of choice and you'll make it.

mayo,

one of the things i like to do these days with your poems when you first post them is to read them without trying to interpret them. i used to try to look between each line and glimpse all the meanings you'd layered in, but lately, i've been letting that happen at a slower pace. i allow myself to enjoy the surface pleasures of your poetry.

so tonight, your poem is something almost tactile to me, just rhythm and the shapes of words and fleeting suggested imagery.

tonight, i just admire that your poem, like all pleasurable poems, is full of hints, a story left deliciously half-unexplained.

thank you mayo. :)

good night.

So I told you last night about the Japanese artwork I found stored away. I’m not sure if the painting is done on bamboo or maybe rattan. All I do know is it’s really quite beautiful. The material is weaved into a beautiful pattern then the artist painted the cranes. I wish I knew something about the artist. I finally remembered this came from an estate that had so many beautiful Japanese items. Yeah, I used to collect Japanese items too. I have cloisonné vases, dolls and tapestries. Oh and I have a beautiful silk kimono. Anyway, I decided to hang this one for a while. I hope the pictures come out okay but PhotoBucket and I have a very problematic relationship. The fucker hates me. Anyway I hope I am able to share the beauty of this artwork with you.

Well hope all is well in your world. Take care.

You will love again the stranger who was yourself.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

And I see Anons shit all over my request for peace. Nice one.

That said, anyone here?

ergoproxy said...

Hi mianth, I just had pizza for dinner and am watching Ghost Whisperer while checking emails
how are you?

miranth said...

I am good ergo! I slept too long! I got up earlier but LOST was a rerun and I was tired so I passed back out.

I think I am going to cook dinner soon. :) I know its morning, but I hate morning food, except cereal.

Ghost Whisperer is a good show. I haven't watched in a while, but I believe they killed off the husband? That sucks if so - he was a cutie.

I will prob. watch ghost hunters while I cook if the DVR caught it.

I am trying to read back here, but well, I said it above!

PS - Do you think the mirror allusion in this post has anything to do with Mayo likening this place to a mirror/reflection?

Curious.

miranth said...

Anima - Good to see you! *hugs*
I hope you are well?!

Elena - beautiful image. Thank you for sharing. :)

SisM - I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I hope you can find a method of treatment that works for you with less side effects.

And I have no Twitter or FB either. People keep bugging me to sign up for them, but I can't be bothered.

And speaking of Twitter, it looks as if I am responding to things copied and pasted from there, though I had assumed them to be original comments and treated them as such. Sorry, my ignorance.

Poli Sci Anon - Its called Karma. He's a bitch! You should have been researching your topic and instead you were busy rubbing salt into people's wounds. As someone who is recently bereaved and certified to teach poli sci, I feel free to tell you the truth.

Mayo - Please check my reflection/mirror comments as I am concerned that maybe the post refers to this place and all the BS. And as for other meanings of the poem, not to be sappy, but, in your heart, you know who you are. Take some time to meditate, it always helps.

And please see Ergo's analysis.

Ergo - Rereading your analysis of the post last night, I think all of the above may be the correct answer, to a greater or lesser extent depending on the individual. If we only stopped to think with such clarity as you do.

BTW Anons - Mayo (whomever he or she may be) does acknowledge many of us, just under the radar as it were, to avoid the BS that some of you bring.

And yes, to respond to another anon, I do recall hearing 'its just a blog' when someone actually accused me of using my niece for 'attention' when she was very ill. That both saddened me and pissed me off.

If you were actually able to garner people's attention in real life, you would know, as I do, that its not a good thing.

Take Care and Have a Great One Everybody!

PS - To all the British who celebrate St. George's, may you enjoy the holiday!

I used to think I hated Zac Efron, but then I'd never seen him in anything. I used to avoid that High School Musical shit like the plague. But then I went to see 17 Again because I like Matthew Perry and Zac kind of won me over.

He's a good actor (really!) and he has amazingly expressive blue eyes.

One thing I have noticed about a lot of you people is that you are very set in your ways and you don't give new things a chance. Like Kings of Leon, for instance. How many of you have not even clicked on any of the performance links that have been posted here, but think you don't like them based on...what? Also, if all you've heard is Sex on Fire you haven't heard Kings of Leon. Just like if all you've seen of Zac Efron are pictures on teeny mags, you don't know Zac Efron.

Gerard Way was on teeny mags at one point too.

You are allowed to get into more than one new band (translation: a band formed in this century) other than MCR.

hey Miranth I do recall Mayo saying this blog was like a mirror for him a few times, the relation to this post brings interesting questions if that is the interpretive direction you take. Many things to ponder.
But who really ever knows but Mayo himself
and thanks for the appreciation of my analysis, it came to me as I pondered the general concept while I showered (as you do LOL) see what I write for Mayo tonight too.

They did kill off the hubby in Ghost Whisperer, however his spirit entered the body recently vacated by another so the actor remains in the show, eye candy qualities are retained ;]

ergoproxy said...

7:09 I think it is most important to try new things, sure some you may not like a lot of it but now and then you find someone or something that really syncs with you. And how would you ever know if you don't try!
There is a whole wonderful world of choice out there and to limit oneself is a real shame. Hope you continue to look at new things or be open to rethinking things you may have passed over before..
..and may I suggest MUSE if you haven't listened before?? lol
gotta give them a plug ;]
I have some students that suggest bands I may like and sometimes they are right which opens a whole new door for me to explore

miranth said...

Ergo - I look forward to reading what you write later, no pressure!

I'll have to check Ghost Whisperer out then! ;)

7:09 - I second ergo's support of Muse! I also like Ashes of Soma, Sirenia, the Killers, blessthefall, Atreyu, Bullet for My Valentine, Lacuna Coil etc. Too many to name! And those are just the rock derivatives. :) But I will check out KOL again.

Mirrors are really interesting things.
You know the reason they suggest for the vast majority of people not liking photos of themselves, is that we always see ourselves as a mirror image, whereas a photo isn't. In a mirror our right is on our right, left on our left, but in a photo our right is on the left and vice versa, so to us we appear backwards to what we normally see. However that is how we are seen by other people. So if we don't like ourselves in a photo, then we don't like how we look to others, but only really because it is an "us" we are totally unfamiliar. So therefore do we see ourselves as we really appear to others, or are we judging it from a perspective which by it's very nature means we are unable to view ourselves as we really appear? So which is right? Can we learn to see from a perspective quite foreign to our usual and if we did would it give us a clearer view of ourselves and therefore a greater insight into our strengths and weaknesses?
Things to think about
much love EP xx

SS
hope you like what you see in the mirror each time you look. But does a mirror show anything when we aren't looking in it? Is there another aspect to reality we cannot observe, as by observing we render it non-existent?
I give you these lyrics as they are one of my favourites, just because of the concepts they suggest (I bolded my favourites)

Where Your Eyes Don't Go - They Might Be Giants

Where your eyes don't go a filthy scarecrow waves its broomstick arms
And does a parody of each unconscious thing you do
When you turn around to look it's gone behind you
On its face it's wearing your confused expression
Where your eyes don't go
Where your eyes don't go a part of you is hovering
It's a nightmare that you'll never be discovering
You're free to come and go or talk like Kurtis Blow
But there's a pair of eyes in back of your head

Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders
What the part that isn't thinking isn't thinking of
Should you worry when the skullhead is in front of you
Or is it worse because it's always waiting where your eyes don't go?

Where your eyes don't go a part of you is hovering
It's a nightmare that you'll never be discovering
You're free to come and go or talk like Kurtis Blow
But there's a pair of eyes in back of your head

Where your eyes don't go a filthy scarecrow waves its broomstick arms
And does a parody of each unconscious thing you do
When you turn around to look it's gone behind you
On its face it's wearing your confused expression
Where your eyes don't go

*waits for elena to come in and yell at 7:09 for using the term 'you people'*

it's not about the message here, it's how it is said and who says it.

elena said...

Anon

Sorry I'm just not in the yelling mood. And for that matter I don't really yell all that much, do I?

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't fret about a few people refusing to give KoL a chance, 7:09. They have a much broader demographic than MCR and they aren't hurting for fans.

I get your point that people should be more open-minded, but MCR fans are notorious for not respecting others' opinions.

KoL anons would probably be well advised to promote their band elsewhere.

elena said...

Well then I guess that's cleared up. Anyway I have a book to recommend to anyone who loves "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy."

It is titled "Don't Panic" by Neil Gaiman. This book tells about Douglas's life and all about the Hitchhiker books. Also about the radio show, TV shows ect. A very interesting read.

On the DJ it says "it's certainly the most outstandingly brilliant book to have been written about The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy since this morning." Yep Adams gave that review himself. LOL

Oh and lets talk new music..

Every hear of "Crooked X"

Go to YouTube at have a listen. They are outstanding. Listen first and then read up on them. I think you will be amazed. I really believe they have a bright future.

anon if only I weren't too short, possibly not as "healthily bodied" as he'd wish (lol), and already married I'd be beating a path to his door......though one wonders if the "billions of bad dates" were due to the women or him. Surely you'd have to start thinking that if this is always happening to you, maybe the problem is you, not every other woman you come across.....but good luck to him, you've got to try anything I suppose and being an incredibly good looking awesome billionaire you can employ someone to weed out the best possibilities.
Heck for that cash I'd matchmake for him!!

He's too great a catch for the problem to be him. Didn't you read his bio. He's a smart, handsome, successful, hard working self made millionaire and an amazing man. It has to be those billions of women. Maybe he should have offered to put them on the payroll. Might have been able to get a second date that way.

Aerialist

Her life is the wire—she can never come down.
Sometimes she stops and sits on it to eat,
even sleeps there, her whole body stretched
as the wire is stretched. In sleep
she keeps her balance,
feet curled like a monkey’s
the habit of grasping:

she has never fallen.
She never will, not entirely.
Once in a while a slip
causes her to hang for a moment by her hands.
It isn’t the danger of falling that slices through her dreams
but the wire itself, drawing
a line through her body,
leaving a mark on the soles of her feet,

her buttocks, her back.
If she were to cut the wire (she dreams of this)
the sky would break like a mirror into the sea
and nothing would be whole again.
Virgin of the Apocalypse standing on a crescent moon,
she is keeping
Heaven and Earth apart.

The Elephant is Slow to Mate

The elephant, the huge old beast,
is slow to mate;
he finds a female, they show no haste
they wait

for the sympathy in their vast shy hearts
slowly, slowly to rouse
as they loiter along the river-beds
and drink and browse

and dash in panic through the brake
of forest with the herd,
and sleep in massive silence, and wake
together, without a word.

So slowly the great hot elephant hearts
grow full of desire,
and the great beasts mate in secret at last,
hiding their fire.

Oldest they are and the wisest of beasts
so they know at last
how to wait for the loneliest of feasts
for the full repast.

They do not snatch, they do not tear;
their massive blood
moves as the moon-tides, near, more near
till they touch in flood.

i especially liked g'nite's poem selection last night, though. that one has been a favorite of mine for a long time. it's such a wonderful way to think about oneself.

hello everybody! just got home about a half-hour ago or so, had dinner with my boss on the company dime (she wanted to thank me for my support of her in yesterday's drama).

loved your pics of the painting elena, that is is cool. glad you've decided to keep it for awhile!

Piano

Softly, in the dusk, a woman is singing to me;
Taking me back down the vista of years, till I see
A child sitting under the piano, in the boom of the tingling strings
And pressing the small, poised feet of a mother who smiles as she sings.

In spite of myself, the insidious mastery of song
Betrays me back, till the heart of me weeps to belong
To the old Sunday evenings at home, with winter outside
And hymns in the cosy parlour, the tinkling piano our guide.

So now it is vain for the singer to burst into clamour
With the great black piano appassionato. The glamour
Of childish days is upon me, my manhood is cast
Down in the flood of remembrance, I weep like a child for the past.

"Our Day is Over

Our day is over, night comes up
shadows steal out of the earth.
Shadows, shadows
wash over our knees and splash between our thighs,
our day is done;
we wade, we wade, we stagger, darkness rushes between our stones,
we shall drown.

Our day is over
night comes up.

it was pretty long, elena! but i feel like i did good work, cut fabric really fast and kept the customers smiling with my chatter, too.

and there was a documentary crew in the shop today! they're doing a doc on the town, and the quilt show is a big ol' segment of it. they were filimg everything, and stayed at my table for awhile, filming me cutting fabric and all that. it was weird, but fun. i even had to sign a release.

The Enkindled Spring

This spring as it comes bursts up in bonfires green,
Wild puffing of emerald trees, and flame-filled bushes,
Thorn-blossom lifting in wreaths of smoke between
Where the wood fumes up and the watery, flickering rushes.

I am amazed at this spring, this conflagration
Of green fires lit on the soil of the earth, this blaze
Of growing, and sparks that puff in wild gyration,
Faces of people streaming across my gaze.

And I, what fountain of fire am I among
This leaping combustion of spring? My spirit is tossed
About like a shadow buffeted in the throng
Of flames, a shadow that's gone astray, and is lost.

mayo,

something has happened to me this week.

as i've had to do my job quickly and efficiently, i've improved at it dramatically, but i've also developed a bit of style -- i have a "patter" now almost. i want the ladies who come in to buy fabric to be happy, i want them to think of shopping in our store as the highlight of their trip to paducah.

i don't know why i feel that way -- i think part of it is because my boss -- who is a sweet and funny lady -- gets such shortshrift from the california uppity-ups, here in town for the show. they think she's just a dumb hick from kentucky i guess, but i saw how much her regular customers love her, and come to get their fabric from her and no one else. she makes everyone who walks in the door feel like a friend. it's amazing.

maybe part of it is also because i have been given a lot of responsiblity at this job, and so quickly -- this is only my third week, but here i am, the first one at the shop, opening the place and taking care of the morning till and making decisions about product and employees...

and my responsibilities are only going to get greater -- she really hired me to be her assistant, to run the shop so she can take days off (which she hasn't been able to do forever). after quilt week, i'll be her only employee.

that trust in me, and that responsibility (when i never had a job that wasn't "standard worker bee" before) makes me feel very loyal to her, and to the shop.

weird.

so when i'm cutting fabric, i'm chatting up the customers, being strangely super-bubbly, making jokes, admiring their fabric...i am onstage.

and it's fun.

so very, very weird.

take care of yourself, mayo, and good night, friend.
