tic-tac-toe

Nothing provokes me like someone trying to tell me what I can or can’t do. And I am not talking about “Eat your vegetables”, “Take out the trash”, "Don't run a red light", "Don't steal shit", or "Don't stick a knife in someone" (well maybe the red light thing, once). That stuff is important and I get that. What I mean is when someone is attempting to assert control over me, primarily for their own gains or because they consider my actions irrelevant, then I am full-on instigated.

In fact, I can be a bit immature when confronted with authority. A holdover from adolescence, I presume. For the most part, because I am an adult I am able to identify when the limitations being placed on me are legitimate and necessary. And I bite my tongue.

But, nothing pleases me more than to shove it in the face of whatever or whoever attempts to assert unnecessary control over me. Tell me I’m too old to do something, to act a certain way, then you can bet I’ll be first in line. Tell me what I say is irrelevant and I’ll carry on until I find an ear. Attempt to limit my behavior because you don’t consider me worthy and I’ll increase my efforts until you are red faced.

What amazes me is that they (those attempting control) do not understand that their assertions invariably expose their hot buttons. See, now I know what pisses you off and I can be an asshole, so there you go. But, like I said, I can be a bit immature.

Also, I find it unnecessary for someone to belittle a person because their opinion does not run parallel to their own. Typically, name calling will get you nowhere. We are each entitled to our own beliefs, and our opinions will undoubtedly run counter to other's. And if I don't agree, I'll let you know. I'll give you my point of view and perhaps some facts that I may have squirreled away for the occasion to back it up.

Usually this works and we can agree to disagree. But, if you are maliciously handing me my head over and over about whatever burns your ass, then I will most likely ignore you.

That works in two ways. First, I don't hear you any longer. I can continue my life knowing that I made an attempt to express my opinion. And hopefully you now realize you are not going to change mine. Second, I don't hear you any longer.

Then later, under my breath, I'll call you an idiot. And let's face it, if after all that you still think you can change my opinion...well now, we don't need to go there. Just for the record, I won't try to change yours, either. Your opinion, that is.

With all that being said, (and feel free to ignore any of it) please keep in mind that I am a bit of a smart ass. And I have been known to dish out a good natured hard-time. If you poke me, I'll poke you back...sometimes I poke first.

I think I read somewhere something along the lines of...we need to be able to best deal with those things that impact us emotionally, and we need to handle them ourselves. As individuals the decisions we make are what we can control. The rest is up to the rest.

p.s. ask yourself.

You know what would rule? If Mayo had a facebook, and the name was just "Mayonaise."

I think that would be funny.

Seriously, I studied for about three hours today and then my brain said "no more." I'm about halfway done. I can't believe I didn't finish it all. Then I started tooling around on FB sending junk to my cousins and whatnot.

It was such much easier than trying to memorize the structure of polysaccharides and phospholipids. O_o

MissTottenham said...

LOL K, is facebook that bad?

MissTottenham said...

Ah, you said it was so much easier than learning. I read that as the learning was easier.

I guess that's what I wanted to see cos I cannot be arsed with FB.

Mayo,

Been a while since I spoke to you. Doing well? I've been ok, thanks for asking.

I was reading over your list of Interests, and there was one that caught my eye: "grace".

If this one is L's, would you do me the favor of capitalizing it? There IS a reason, and if you know it, then you know why I'm asking.

It would mean so much to L. It would mean a lot to me, too.

Thanks, Mayo. Take it easy.

Goodnight.

That list is from L’s blog. I think Grace was what she was going to name the baby she lost. I can see why J asked Mayo to capitalize it if that’s what he meant. I think it would mean a lot to her.

ergoproxy said...

she lost a baby? i never knew that, where did she say it

Anonymous said...

We shouldn't talk about that, It is her business, no one else's.

ergoproxy said...

anon it did happen, and it's really a personal thing so if you would like to speak of it, it'd be best if you spoke to her

Anonymous said...

ok im sorry im just saying i never knew she lost a baby. that is sad. i hope mayo capitalizes it.

Amyranth said...

It is sad. And I'm sure L would be accepting of your sympathy.

But it's hard for her to discuss, and even harder for her to think about. Please, be gentle and don't bring it up with her.

Anonymous said...

but if it is something she only told her friends then how did the anon know?

Anonymous said...

Some things are off limits so let's just not even discuss that. I know alot of people have been called hurtful names and things said about their family (K's mother) but please.... let's not bring L into this. There is a line, don't cross it.

Anonymous said...

ok, sorry, leaving

9:49, I'm no psychic, but there are times when someone mentions a passing, and you just have this feeling that you know it was a child. I've met several people that have lost infants, and still talk about them like they're there.

She actually posted about it here, and at several of her friends' blogs. Someone else could have seen her comments and figured it out.

Anonymous said...

She did post about it here and elsewhere but it is still her business. People's business outside of the blog should be off limits. Leave L alone.

Hi there Ergo. How was your day?

Hallo Amy, did you get lost in the tub? ^_^

ergoproxy said...

not bad BC not a lot going on, hows yours?

and thanks anons

Amy??

Amyranth said...

Last night? Yeah. I actually had a shower, and I'm so little I fell own the drain and had to be fished out with some yarn and a paperclip.

So, last night was an adventure, no doubt!

ergoproxy said...

so Mister is also a MacGyver?

Anonymous said...

Lol poor Amy ^_^

There was a chick at the last MCR concert that reminded me so much like you it was uncanny. For a few minutes I was deciding whether or not I should have went up there and asked her if she was Amyranth X_x

Nothing really going on on my part Ergo, although we're finally expecting some nice weather this weekend. Yippee!

Amyranth said...

Sort of. He thought of the string and hook idea, until I pointed out that string wasn't dense enough, and a hook could impale me. So I suggested the yarn and a paperclip. We argued for about 20 minutes, because he didn't believe me about the density of the string, versus the wool, and he certainly didn't think I'd get gouged by a hook.

So I had to let him try it his way, and I have a scratch on my arm that I yelled really loudly about, just so I could scare him into doing it my way.

Amyranth said...

Seriously BC?

Damn, I'd have liked to hear what her reaction was. Especially if her name really was Amy!

Anonymous said...

Definitely serious Amy. I first I thought it really was you.

Apparently, you're everywhere. I do recall there's a band named after you too, lol.

Hello Mayo, SS, Amy, Sweetcheeks, Ergo, various anons, various lurkers, various watchers (if any are still watching)!

FASC and MissT: I'm so glad you both liked the "special" pictures!

Ah~ha! That's why that dollhouse reminded me of you, FASC. I knew there had to be reason you popped into my mind when I saw it!

MissT: I stood there for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out how to pack that gorgeous building and ship it to you. I came to the conclusion Miss~Mohammed~T is simply going to have to go to it! Much like that mountain!
;)
I'll go (back) with you!

Sweetcheeks: I LOVED the new pictures of Mr. Lust Bunny! I'm going to e~mail you, with details, about why I LOVED them! I hope you found your "special" picture. Don't worry. If I recall, Martha boiled the bones. There should be nothing connecting them to US!

Amy: I hope you found your throne! It looked nice and comfy too! You do still have the crown, correct?
:P

Ergo: If photobucket does not cooperate with you, I'll e~mail your "special" picture to you! I'm sorry to hear it's raining again. I'll also e~mail you some sun!
*smooooooooooch*

TJ (or TJ's sister): I hope your power comes back on soon, love! Stay under a warm, soft, comfy blanket until it does.

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WOW! You're not going to believe this, Amy; but nearly the exact same thing happened to a friend of mine a few months ago.
She was taking a bath and forgot to get out of the tub after pulling the plug. YEP, down she went ~ with the bath water.
She's divorced and her son had to fish her out of the pipe. He couldn't find a paperclip so he improvised and used a bent hair pin! It took him a good two hours to fish her out of there! She was very embarrassed about him having to see her naked!
She learned her lesson, well, though. She installed a safety screen over the drain!
;P
Amyranth said...
She learned her lesson, well, though. She installed a safety screen over the drain!
Wendy!
Mister just finished doing that for me, and I had a lovely shower. But I think he realizes now why I prefer baths. I get out, and THEN drain the tub.
Down WITH the bathwater, you say? Christ, that would be terrifying. I was lucky enough to only be about 3 inches into the drain, she must've been down by the exchange then, huh?
Anon616 said...
I'm back, Sweetcheeks! Sorry, I was lost in Australia!
Ergo: Those pictures are incredible. I kept going back to that creek, the waterhole with the gorgeous reflections of the sky/clouds, the waterfalls and that crimson rosella just to look at those brilliant colors!
Not to mention those sunsets!!!!
*sighs longly while wishing to visit Australia*
Where the heck did Amy go? Did she fall down the drain again?
Hmmm... maybe she went milk Sable Fraiche!
Anon616 said...
There she is!!!!!!! I swear (forgive me), I scare myself sometimes!
Oh, I left a comment on your blog about the pics :)
Anon616 said...
Haha, Amy! My drain story was a "tall tale". Or, maybe a "short" tale... since all of her went down the drain!
Thankfully, only 3 inches of you got sucked in! And, you didn't even need to read my story to get the moral. You (and the mister) just knew it was time for that screen!
Your injury did not require stitches, did it?
*bites finger nails*
Anon616 said...
I’m simply feeling drained tonight. I just want to crawl under the blankets and pull the covers over my head. Yep, I’m in total shut down at the moment but maybe that’s not so bad. I need time to think, time to get my emotions under control.
I do want you to know that I was very proud of Flighty today. She sang the funeral flawlessly. And even though she was asked, pretty much at the last minute, to also sing “The Prayer” by Gosh Groban she did so. She loves that song and she sang it beautifully.
I hope things in your world are going well. I am thinking of you and my friends here. You all are always with me in my heart. Take care.
and he should also grow up and stop trying to lampoon the people he shared his life in the past with.
stupid, disrespectful behavior.
If you think that a single indirect comment, made a year and a half ago, in which he named no names and dropped no hints is the height of disrespect? You need to take a good look at the behavior that preceded, get some perspective and fuck off.
A string of violent incidents vs a single incident that was considered to be extremely out of character. Yep, completely equivalent examples.
and comparing Jared Leto's talent with Lynz's lack thereof WAS equivalent?
The only thing I compared was the different reactions to them both jumping off a balcony. Again, musical talent has nothing to do with how daring a balcony dive is.
tonight I would like to share a song that it actually took me some time to track down, It was a band at the height of the new Romantic era, and I'd forgotten them bar the chorus of this song. I could picture the film clip but do you think I could recall it?? thank goodness for google!!
Classix Nouveaux
Guilty
Don't say I know what you're thinking
It's plain to see
I see my opportunities shrinking
In front of me
I know you've made up your mind
But don't say
Although I know of no crime
It's the same
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
I wonder why you haven't the time for
The reasons why
To hear the truth might alter your mind or
Open your eyes
I know you've made up your mind
But don't say
Although I know of no crime
It's the same
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
I know you've made up your mind
But don't say
Although I know of no crime
It's the same
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
Guilty
Guilty you've found me
Guilty
much love EP xx
(and please tell me if you're sick of this , I can honestly probably go for months!)
SS
another of the new Romantics. A band called Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, who I really enjoyed. This song was inspired by the bombing of Hiroshima, it has one of , I find the most distinctive keyboard melodies(if you've never heard it be prepared for it to be stuck in your head)
Enola Gay
Enola gay, you should have stayed at home yesterday
Aha words cant describe the feeling and the way you lied
These games you play, they're gonna end it more than tears someday
Aha enola gay, it shouldn't ever have to end this way
Its 8:15, and that's the time that its always been
We got your message on the radio, conditions normal and you're coming home
Enola gay, is mother proud of little boy today
Aha this kiss you give, its never ever gonna fade away
Enola gay, it shouldn't ever have to end this way
Aha enola gay, it shouldn't fade in our dreams away
Its 8:15, and that's the time that its always been
We got your message on the radio, conditions normal and you're coming home
Enola gay, is mother proud of little boy today
Aha this kiss you give, its never ever gonna fade away
sing along
lotsa love EP xx
if it's anything to do with poor, poor Eliza then you need to get out and stay out. if it's to do with anyone else, i'd love to know why you need to spill it publicly here.
Just a quick note before I take off for the day in search of books. (Yes, my way of finding happiness) I want to once again thank everyone here for the love and support you’ve shown me this past week. It truly means so much.
I hope everyone finds their own happiness today. And if you are lucky enough to find some happiness take time to savor those moments.
You are all in my thoughts.
Elena
Oh and Mayo, I won’t be around to tell you goodnight but if I could I would. The words I’ve been keeping inside are pushing their way through the silence. Take care. I’ll be talking to you soon.
Mayo – TGIFF!
Do you find that a full moon affects the behavior of those around you? I swear to God, my co-workers are out of their ever-lovin’ minds today. Now, I know the full moon isn’t for a couple of days, but these people are either jacked up on skittles and Mountain Dew or the gravitational pull has really messed with their heads.
Gosh, it's quiet.
hello to anyone lurking!
Well, I am finally done studying for tomorrow's test. I'm pretty sure I know the chemical structures and functions of different carbohydrates, lipids and proteins and their sub-groups. It's a little hard to memorize at first, but I think I've got it down in a logical sense. It was a pretty big chapter. Hopefully I can do okay on tomorrow's test and then we move on to cells and such. I love cellular biology! This is just the beginning, though. The actual cytology class I need to take is down the road a piece.
Mayo? S(S)S? Whatyoo two doin' today? Going to set down and read a book? Drink a cup of tea? Are you going to play a video game? Or go out shopping, or fold your laundry maybe? Go to a party? Maybe write a story, or a poem, or draw a picture or something? Go to the gym, watch the sunset? What, what, what? :D
No matter what you are doing, these fantastic, amazing and nigh unfathomable things are happening in your body constantly. I don't believe in god and I don't believe in one single creator, and I'm not convinced that there is some kind of consciousness outside of biochemical consciousness and all, but I also don't believe totally in chance. So where the study of science sometimes takes the spirituality away from people, for me, it seems to be adding it.
Einstein said, or quantum physics (which he didn't really like,) "God does not play dice."
Well I don't believe in god, Mayo, S(S)S; but I also don't believe in dice.
What's in the middle?
Keaton always said, "I don't believe in god, but I'm afraid of him.
Well I believe in god, Agent Kujan. And the only thing that scares me is Kaiser Soze.
Anonymous said...
Now that quote I did off the top of my head, like I tend to do with all quotes from that movie. It is my absolute favorite.
What I said up there reminded me of it because everytime I hear, write, read or think the words "don't believe in god," I hear it in Verbal Kint's voice.
How do you shoot the devil in the back?
What if you miss?
Anonymous said...
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
Anonymous said...
You think you can catch Kaiser Soze? You think a guy like that comes this close to getting fingered and sticks his head out?
If he comes up for anything, it will be to get rid of me.
After that, my guess is you'll never hear from him again.
And like that...
He's gone.
I said he'll flip ya. Flip ya for real!
Now I feel like I need to find the rest of that poem. I love that one. Hang on.
Anonymous said...
Ooooh wait, let me first see how much of it I can remember!
"spring summer winter autumn
he sang his didn't he danced his did.
...
children guessed
(but only a few
and down they forgot as up they grew
autumn winter spring summer
no one loved him more and more..."
Oh, man! Wait, it's coming.
"bird by snow and stir by still
anyone's any was all to her..."
Shoot, I just can't do it. Wait a sec.
anyone lived in a pretty how town
(with up so floating many bells down)
spring summer autumn winter
he sang his didn't he danced his did
Women and men(both little and small)
cared for anyone not at all
they sowed their isn't they reaped their same
sun moon stars rain
children guessed(but only a few
and down they forgot as up they grew
autumn winter spring summer)
that noone loved him more by more
when by now and tree by leaf
she laughed his joy she cried his grief
bird by snow and stir by still
anyone's any was all to her
someones married their everyones
laughed their cryings and did their dance
(sleep wake hope and then)they
said their nevers they slept their dream
stars rain sun moon
(and only the snow can begin to explain
how children are apt to forget to remember
with up so floating many bells down)
one day anyone died i guess
(and noone stooped to kiss his face)
busy folk buried them side by side
little by little and was by was
all by all and deep by deep
and more by more they dream their sleep
noone and anyone earth by april
wish by spirit and if by yes.
Women and men(both dong and ding)
summer autumn winter spring
reaped their sowing and went their came
sun moon stars rain
I love that poem so much. I love the story of "anyone" and "no one" doing their own thing and all, yet no one (as in really no one not the singular "noone" of the poem) really pays them any mind.
I always feel like "noone" never gets to marry her "anyone" and "anyone" never even knows of "noone," but in the end she's the only one who actually cares enough to "stoop to kiss his face."
And the world continues to turn.
It took me years to realize that "noone" was actually someone, and it didn't really mean that no one loved "anyone" or cared about him. When I made that connection, it was such a revelation.
That's one of my favorite poems ever, that one.
