For old times sake...

Here is a little something I have learned. Or, perhaps it is inherent in my nature.

There is beauty in most every moment...life, and I mean all of it. Seriously, that is not to say that I can find a silver lining in the beating of an old man for his wallet, or the rape of a young girl. But, some of my more elegant words arrive from the ugliest of times, and I suppose the inverse is true, as well. Anyway, I think they are.

There was a ball, a strike, a kiss, and some much needed sleep.

We awoke to a quiet house that, after a few short hours, would be alarmed by uncertainty.

The phone call and waiting cleared my head. All I could consider was what I would miss if I was met with the loss of such a good friend. Those other things, my schedule, would wait. And, the wait was endless. I was anxious because I could not be there to hear firsthand the explanation, the reassurance. But I knew, I already knew why and how. What I needed to hear was that it had been fixed.

And it was. You are fine and I still have you to call when I need a laugh, to shoot the shit, or to find reason in things that make sense only to friends that have been there from the depths. We will have our once every chance we can get (which is not often enough) visits.

I will tell you again that you are my friend.

Still, I can’t let go of the feeling I had when I thought you were gone. In those few hours I was bombarded with memories built on some ten years time. I thought how fortunate I was to have had my life filled with your energy, your support, and all the trust I could ever imagine.

I paced while waiting to hear the news, and as I circled the floors over and again the strangest thought came to me; I would be okay. I have come a long way and I have you to thank for some of that. You give a good kick in the ass. And, there is something amazing in that.

Let's not forget the flood, the funk, the summers, and that high speed departure.

p.s. wherever he is, he’s all over the place.

12:46, it was about opening dialogue, and I see it's already been waved away. Too bad.

Sdock,

It also gets harder and harder to come here and speak freely. How ridiculous does that sound? Pretty fucking, it is, after all, just a blog.

Blogger Smoke said...

Well, anyhoo. I just think it's all shitty.

Kapunua...

. Some here have become my very good friends. But my family for godsakes? It's a blog!

So, no! This blog is not such a huge deal to me

I think that's your answer. They don't care about the blog. Smoke said the guidelines was shitty.

I applaud you for trying.

Anonymous said...

At least now Mayo knows who his true friends are. The ones who care about his blog. No one can deny that now.

Can they?

I don't think they can.

Smoke said...

No, actually I was talking about naming people like Twisted. I know that certain people don't like me and that's fine. Twisted has never done anything to anyone. So, yeah, I think it's shitty for someone to call her out like that.

As fas as the 'guidelines' go, I'll say it again:

IT'S NOT OUR BLOG. IT'S NOT YOUR BLOG. IT'S MAYO'S BLOG.

Ultimately, it is up to him.

Damn.

Amyranth said...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Nobody had to agree with me. Nobody has ever had to do things my way.

But it's clearly impossible to say what you think around here, without it being turned into a giant battle, complete with apologies and "I don't care if you shut down the blog".

Really, who do you think you are? You're giving Mayo permission to shut down the blog because things were discussed that YOU don't like?

That is precisely what I was talking about. Thank you, for proving my point.

Anonymous said...

I know that certain people don't like me and that's fine.

But that doesn't mean that you should continue to antagonize them by playing your games.

Amy,

You keep talking in circles and I'm done with this for today.

Have fun.

That's not your fault Amy. You were only saying your peace. They can't see it that way. They are going to keep flouting what you believe is right, they're going to do it to your face.

And giving Mayo PERMISSION to shut down his blog as if they OWNED it. That is what I call "a lot of nerve".

Amyranth said...

Smoke,

Good day.

They're all going to run away now because they basically KNOW you are right Amy. I think they know in their hearts that the poetry and quotes are wrong for this blog. That their "happiness" which I don't for a moment believe the poetry is about, is in fact infringing on other people's right to be happy. To enjoy the blog.

They really have no defense for continuing to post poetry so they're going to turn their back and run away and ignore your open dialog.

That is a true shame.

Amyranth said...

12:57, I've always felt that one day I'd log on and Mayo's wouldn't be here anymore. Or maybe he'd just slowly stop updating. Whatever his method would be, it's his, and his decision. And I don't think he'd allow anything like this to influence that.

Just my opinion though.

Anonymous said...

Amyranth,

How do you go back to being a 'Family' when you have made it clear that you don't like certain people? What do you expect from those people? Would you rather this all be fake just for the sake of being nice and a 'family'?

I'm just trying to understand.

3:58, my hope is "those bloggers" might finally understand that thee are people that are unhappy with the way things are working right now. And it is my hope that "those bloggers" will stand up for this blog too, and actually want to work towards something that makes EVERYONE happy. ALL of us!

Sadly their answer was no. They said that this blog was not a big deal to them and that they didn't think poetry was hurting you.

Amyranth said...

1:00, let them.

The dialogue is always open, but the fighting will continue until people start discussing freely and without restrain what they think, feel and want around here.

And if they call it "just a blog" I won't stop them. They are entitled to their own opinions, regardless.

But don't act surprised when others don't agree. I'm not.

Anyway, I should go. Too much to do, and not enough day to do it in.

Have a good day Anons, Blues, Mayo, SS, and anyone else who happens to come across this message.

I want to rectify that and try to bring this place back to what it was. And I have to say, for those people who say "If you're not with her, you're against her, and you're evil." you're partially right.

3:40, some of us feel that those bloggers are helping the divide along.

Amyranth said...

1:02, you're the last person I'm addressing today.

I had a fall out with one person, and because of friendship lines, I lost many.

Did I ever say that I hated anyone here? No. Never. Because I don't.

I can't hate somebody that I don't know, but I can disapprove of someone's attitude, method of speech towards others, and treatment of people that they don't know either.

And I do understand, and wholeheartedly commend those who would stand by a friend thick and thin.

But sometimes, you have to open your eyes. When more than one person is stopping to say "Hey! I don't like this! We need to make this right!", and they are ridiculed, harassed and have their opinion flouted at them every chance that is had, a person needs to stop. And think.

And wonder why it happens.

And wonder why it hasn't been fixed. Why there has been no olive branch extended.

Why?

Anonymous said...

So basically you are saying that Kapunua is at fault because of her attitude. None of it has anything to do with you. You call a cunt a cunt. She made you lose your friends.

And your guidelines that single out the poets are your olive branch?

Censorship = extending an olive branch?

I don't think so.

LMFAO! Seriously!

The only guidelines should be things like, I dunno say, how about, not posting someone's personal information. Hmm, how about, not calling someone's Mom names. How about not provoking people so that they lose their cool and act rudely to you? This way you can turn around and tell them how awful they are for acting rudely to you after you've done all of those things to them? How about not googling other people's towns, not trying to google where they work, or their real names to post here (this happened to both Smoke and Solly and, I think Fimble as well.) How about say, not making fun of them when their family member has died? Or when they need help?

Those guidelines should really be inherent in people.

Anyway, I am drafting an email to a professor who I really think can help me with this crisis of faith vs. science that I am having. Because science is winning, and while I think it should win and needs to win, I also can't deny the relation that all science has with Tao, which is amazing and fantastic.

Here's some of the ideas that I'm throwing around so far.

I think that my biggest problem lies in the fact that, as genius as all the Chinese medical practitioners and scientists of the natural world have been for thousands of years, there is a new science now that Traditional Chinese Medicine does not seem to acknowledge. And even though so much of what they are saying and doing is similar to modern medicine and science in a lot of ways, only with different terminology, there is a definite east-west split and never the twain shall meet.

I need it to meet. Only acknowledging TCM is like only acknowledging Newtonian physics. Yes, it worked. Yes, it was incredible and genius and created its own revolution and its own paradigm. But now there is quantum, and it's just as real and the two need to acknowledge each other, because both are right. And they do not work independently of each other. The universe is holistic, right? So.

First I want to point out how amazing these scientists and doctors were by pointing up things that sound like, to me, really early although not exactly primitive versions of what we know today to be true. This stuff sounded like magic back then, elemental magic. Hell, quantum sounds like magic to me. It is a difference in language.

From a total beginner in TCM, from someone who has touched the tip of the iceberg that is Tao philosophy, and from a total lay person in the sciences of chemistry and quantum, these are my observations.

The first thing, the first step in the Descent Of Being (which is basically the beginning of the universe,) is what the Tao calls the Wu Ji. Its symbol is a circle. Now, those of you who know some science, check this out, okay, and see if this Reminds You Of Anything. The Wu Ji is an infinite circle of everything. There were no polarities, no directions, nothing to quantify or qualify it (those are my words; I'm sorry if they sound clumsy or stupid.) It was "limitless," in the words of the professor who taught this. It was without polarity and, one must assume, without time or dimension. My first thought was "infinite density."

Then came the tai ji, that's the symbol we all know and love and refer to as the "yin-yang." In fact, this is when the Wu Ji steps outside of itself and becomes two polarities, and so Yin and Yang are created. It observes itself. This is "qualified totality."

Following that (although I don't know of any time determination,) comes the Wu Xing, which is the five elements. These are more like symbols, because while the "five elements" are Wood, Water, Fire, Earth and Metal, they are more indicative of processes than actual elements--they are not "elements" as you know on the periodic table or anything. But to me, this sounds like the beginning of an ordered universe. Processes happen, things expand. They are Qualitative measures of energy. That phrase hit me like a brick to the small of my back. Not quantities of energy but something so close to it--how could these people have even known from atoms molecules or even cells?--but they saw that there were qualities to energy, and they gave them these metaphors in the "Five Elements" or the "Five Transformations." (These, along with Yin and Yang, are the basis for all Chinese medicine. You diagnose and treat through the Qi manifestations of Yin, Yang, and the Five Transformations. And therein lies the beginning of my problem: There is nothing outside of those boundaries. But I'll come to that later. Back to my fascination with and admiration of this.)

Following the Wu Xing is the Bagua sixty four hexigrams. These are all the combinations of Yin and Yang, represented by solid lines and broken lines. If you've ever played I Ching, you know exactly what this is. But it's represented in an Octagon, either half-hexigrams on each side, eight half-hexigons on this "shell" of the octagon, Yin or Yang, but a perfect balance. (Wait for it.)

And following the Bagua is the Ten thousand things, which is not literally ten thousand, but The Myriad Things. This is everything we know of today.

So from one point of infinite, one has to assume, density with no polarity or time, moving to a split into two polarities, expanding into processes with order and laws to it, to combinations thereof, to everything we understand in the world including all natural laws, that seems to me to be a long way of saying "The Big Bang."

I could be waaaay off.

Now hang on, because there's more.

It follows that these scientists--for that is what they were; this was the first medicine to look at the natural world and say "things in the world are what cause pathology, not evil spirits"--will equate everything they observe with everything else. We all do that. We learn by observation and we apply those observations. What is amazing is how much they observed and how much they freaking just knew. Okay, for example, everything is either Yin or Yang. But since Yin and Yang are always transforming, they are interdependent etc., there is the seed of Yin in every Yang and the seed of Yang in every Yin. So no matter what you look at: an organism, a tissue, an element (in their sense of the word,) a process, anything, whether you classify it as either Yin or Yang, once you break it down, you find it has elements of Yin and Yang. Then when you look at those smaller pieces, you find that they, in turn, are both Yin and Yang. Breaking those pieces down, Yin and Yang etc. Eventually you come to what the ancient Chinese didn't have words for, which we might know as quarks, even down to light and dark matter, Yang and Yin.

And it is when Yin and Yang are out of balance that pathogens are able to enter the system.

Positively charged protons, negatively charged electons, Yang and Yin. Number of electrons = number of protons in a stable atom, balance. Eight electrons around the valance shell of an atom, creating the same number of protons in the nucleus for balance, the Octet rule. When an atom loses or gains an electron and becomes an ion, it "wants" to become stable again ; this is a simplified way of thinking of how free radicals and antioxidants work.

Taking it one step further, the idea of Qi. This was just their word for energy, but the energy of everything. You couldn't see it, not as such, but you could see its effects on the natural world and through the bodies of organisms. If Qi sounds so far fetched, one has to wonder how atoms themselves seem. No one has ever seen one, yet we know of their effects. Energy is a proven thing, it is real; it exists. Between the nucleus of an atom and its electrons, if you were to increase the scale to where you see it, the space between them would span towns, or maybe it's cities; I forget the exact scale reference. Let's just say, effing huge. And they are held together by, what? Positive and negative energy, right? Qi is energy guided by Yin and Yang.

That is all utterly amazing.

Amirite?

We'll stop when you do. I don't suppose that'll be anytime soon.

Anonymous said...

Mayo likes alot of things 2:05.
Respect is another.

Anonymous said...

But now, here is where it gets problematic for me.

Amid myriad changing techniques, the principle remains the same.

The principle remains the same and I'm so cool with that. But the techniques have changed and I think that needs to be at least acknowledged. Because for as much as this whole Tao thing and its relation to the actual world and scientific reality is significant to me, the truth is that western medicine and its affects--both good and bad--are also irrefutable.

If the principle remains the same, and the techniques have changed, well, I think we need to take into consideration the changing techniques, as well as the changing terminology. I am cool with metaphor, as I have mentioned many times. But if there is another way to look at it, a scientific way to understand it, I want to understand that aspect of it, too. Why not both?

The two should not be mutually exclusive. TCM and modern medicine and science--though one is holistic and the other not so much--are saying so much of the same stuff. TCM could be leaping and bounding past western medicine if only the two could intersect. Or even acknowledge one another.

You can't deny the fact that acupuncture and herbs work; for one thing, people swear by them. (I realize that many people think that acupuncture works only on the placebo effect, but please consider that a lot of the time so does western medicine. You can give someone a blue sugar pill for their aches and pains.) The effect of herbs is easier to qualify and perhaps quantify because we have an understanding of biochemistry and how molecules in different foods and herbs affect molecules in animal bodies etc. To say that ginseng has an effect on the mind is no different than saying that caffeine does, or morphine, or seratonin. And as far as acupuncture goes, that is a bit more vague to me, and I suspect to most people, because western science hasn't really studied it or even looked sideways at it other than to handwave it. We just don't know, in western terms, why it works. Maybe it's got something to do with neurological response, or with the body's natural defense (note: TCM addressed this, too: the body's natural defense is Wei Qi, I mean they were on it people,) TCM has its own reasons why it works: It balances the Qi. If you have too much heart fire, or an excess of Yin, or rising liver fire etc. then acupuncture either tonifies (builds up deficiencies) or gets rid of excess.

My biggest "BUT!!" is this: I need to reconcile the two. At some point, these have to intersect. And so far as I have seen in the two weeks I've been here, TCM handwaves western, scientific reasons just as much as western does to TCM. Why? TCM practitioners were pioneers; they were pro progress. Why aren't they using what science now knows to explain, in scientific, physiological terms, why it works? And yet, so far, everyone has told me to "stop thinking like that" and basically to not be so western about it.

I'm so torn, because I don't want to get a scientific degree in something that I can't reconcile as science. I already have a degree in literature, so I've fulfilled my metaphor quota. And even though I do acknowledge the absolutely amazing science that TCM was capable of, it still seems "stuck" and not moving forward. Why can't the two intersect? I love metaphor and I really love this philosophy because the philosophy is based on what is observable and, amazingly enough, what was unobservable. This stuff is true! It is amazingly true and effective. Just, why? In hard science (that I know I won't understand yet,) why?

I guess the real question is that, when I get this Master's degree, will it be in Science or in Philosophy?

That's the question I need answered , and that's what I have to ask this one professor who is so cool with all of this stuff.

Do you guys get what I'm saying? Or am I just making too huge of a deal out of it?

What's past is past. Let it go and focus on the present.

what about those people who express what's going on in their lives through poetry?

are you disrespecting them?

Anonymous said...

Good advice. Let's stop blaming other people for our problems and our mistakes as well. The past will keep resurrecting if we don't take responsibility for our own actions.

Accept responsibiltiy, deal with the consequences of your words and actions, admit when you're wrong, learn from you mistakes and live forward.

I know I question a lot. Sometimes I over-question. Maybe we all do that? But this is is kind of a biggie for me.

There's this song that I love that always makes so much sense to me when I have questions like this; it's an obscure one by this band called The Seatbelts. I'll show it to you.

Save for bad genes or DNA

Ask your conscience the why and how

Do it then
Do it when

But, do it now

What's up sweet cakes?
Who's hip anyway?
Earthgirls are easy
What you gonna do lil' buckaroo?
(Hey you, you better ask her nice!)
All you gotta do, happy fool, is ask your mom!

No we all can't be Superfly

You can pretend or you can try
Move ahead
Lay down dead

When the truth seems so far away
Buddha loves you and Jesus saves
You need answers for your dismay

Ask yourself
Ask your mom

This makes no sense to me after you just spent two pages, not to mention The Fix, trying to tell people what they should and shouldn't say.

I didn't read that as giving him permission, but instead as saying that it was HIS blog.

Which you seem to keep forgetting Amyranth.

You just have it in for that "four people" you keep on bringing it up. I think you are just out to start trouble.

so i was waiting at the international district (that's seattle pc for chinatown, btw) station this morning, under the arcade there. i had never really waited there for any length of time, usually headed straight down into the metro tunnel, so it's no surprise i had never noticed that there is poetry engraved on the girders of the arcade, just overhead.

stealth urban poetry. i like it. :)

and it was the perfect thing to read today, in the sunshine and clear air:

Now we see the ties,
each steel crossbeam a line that reads
from here to there, from then to now.
You don't have to leap tracks to make the connection.
History is the same as sunlight and snow.
Wherever we are bound,
this network of tracks binds us -
hard evidence of lives spent to reach us -
and leads us to the same point:
we are here.

Good afternoon/evening/night Mayo, SS, Amy, Ergo, Sweetcheeks, Martha, "nice" anons, "mean" anons and everything in between anons!

Funny isn't it? When it comes to anons, "nice and mean" seem to be in the eye of the beholder. Much like beauty!

I don't think hypocrisy is ever attractive. Then again, I suppose folks can have different views on what they think hypocrisy is. I think it's pretty clear; but, that's just me!

Allow me to tell you all a little story, about my dad, for pondering purposes today.

Of course, if you think I'm too long winded or just don't want to read about my life or my dad...
you are free to scroll through...
as it's been suggested before.

Here we go:

When I was just a wee little lass, my father's union decided to go on strike. This was not good; but, he walked the picket line with his coworkers.

He did have a wife and three children to support. So, what did he do when he wasn't walking the picket line in support of his union and co~workers? He got another job ~ digging ditches.

Yes, the former football star ~ digging ditches. Did he feel like less of a man for doing that? Did anyone view him as less of a man? Absolutely not.

You see, my father believed that a ditch digger was no less valuable than a plant foreman. He didn't care if you picked up trash on the side of the road or were a pulitzer prize winning poet. He didn't care if you mopped floors for a living or were a world renowned cardiologist. He didn't think he was above anyone.

He KNEW no person was more or less valuable than another. He knew no person should be made to feel less valuable. They certainly should never be told they were.

That's how he raised his children. All three of us. To believe what he believed. To know what he knew. To treat all others with basic respect and common courtesy. To not make fun of people because they are different ~ in their appearance or in the beliefs or in their opinions. To make everyone feel welcomed instead of excluded. In our homes and in our hearts.

You know what else? There were ditch diggers at his wake and funeral. There was also a world renowned cardiologist, two published authors, plant foremen, janitors, his high school football coach and every living member of the team, the district attorney of our parish and a couple of people that district attorney had sent up the river.

It was beautiful! This man showed respect to others ~ all others ~ his entire life. They showed him theirs.

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~

Ooooh, I am not allowed to bump to the next page for the first comment. Only two people here are allowed!

that's true! only me and ergo can do that! if a bumping to top spot opportunity arises everyone has to wait on the same page until me and ergo are on line together and then we will manoeuvre with much hilarity to the next page OK?

it made me smile to read that some of you would miss that though.

oh and re the guidelines, do the "anons" then count as one collective person?

a shame for the lovely anons, but a blessing for the nasty pieces of work!!

guys i know it's been sucky here for a long time! but seriously? i'm not getting those guidelines!

i understand if people are really wanting things to be back as they were, but that is not going to work. let's face it, it'll never be the same. i think the main rule would be if everyone else could respect each other a little more. i miss alot of people that don't come here anymore. if everyone could treat others how they would like to be treated themselves, then that would make it a much nicer place. i know some people just aren't friends anymore. that's OK, but those people have other friends here. in that respect it is no different from real life.

scrolling is fine too!

sdock10 said...

WTF are you on about, Anon? Smoke was one of the "regulars" who took her opinions, questions, concerns to Amy's blog when all the "Fix" stuff was being posted.

Believe me, she'll say what she wants to say, to who she wants to say it to, when she wants to say it.

And I hate even acknowledging you because it's pretty pointless and all it does is keep this bullshit going, but when someone talks about my sister, I get a little defensive.

Anonymous said...

I saw what she wrote and she didn't even have a good argument. When Amyranth had her backed up in a corner all she could say was that she was "done with this" and that's exactly what she wrote today too. She should just stop talking because she makes herself look stupid. Don't start something if you cannot back yourself up and then make some excuse about being done with it if youre clearly not.

sdock10 said...

Okay, well, I will follow my sister's lead then and say,

Anonymous said...

I'm speaking my mind, that's all I care about. All I'm saying is don't start something if you can't handle the debate. And if someone has you backed in a corner and you aren't smart enough to think of anything to say, well then that's too bad for you, maybe you shouldn't have said anything to begin with.

Blog police! Blog police! come quick. There is an anon being nasty.

The reason that smoke leaves is because she has more class than say nasty things like some of the people say to her. I was reading back and and i want to thank smoke♥ I think people call me out is because i like you and solly and Kapunua and Fimble. What's so funny about the whole thing is when i was posting as anon, i probably took up for the one's who call me scum now. As soon as they see me signed in, the name calling begins. I was reading the new guidelines and i didn't see anything about a dress code. Is it alright that i'm sitting here typing in my pjs?

Smoke said...

Honestly, Amy could not answer my questions back then and she can't answer them now.

How can you claim to want to fix something when all you want to do is tell a select few to STFU. That's not fixing. That's censoring.

But even more important, where does she get off trying to fix or moderate something that doesn't belong to her? She has her own blog. I have mine. I can put whatever I want on mine and have however many rules I want. So can she. This space belongs to Mayo. I have been here since day one and he has never given me any reason to think that anything I've said he did not approve of so you know what? She's not gonna tell me what I can or can't say or make me feel like I have a limit on what I can say. That's the bottom line.

You are welcome, Twisted! I just thought that was a shitty thing to do to you.

Smoke said...

And I'm sure she'll come on later and give her reasons and say that I'm not listening to her but honestly, I tried. I did. That's why I went to her blog back then.

At least I think so.

Ah, but I'm just dumb, right?

Not dumb. Just realistic and not willing to put up with stupid shit. That is all.

ergoproxy said...

The blog is big enough for everyone, everyone is capable of being respectful and polite
however anytime people on the blog are coexisting without any drama there appear anons who provoke in whatever way they feel will get a reaction and it all falls apart again and again.
What exactly is the vested interest they have in maintaining that atmosphere?
A lot of people have said things to other people that haven't been nice at various times in the life of this blog, no one has to agree with everything anyone says, no one has to like each other, it's a shame but it's reality. Any workplace or group has exactly the same issues.
But what this reminds me of is school kids, teenagers who find individuals who have had a disagreement, and when the drama is finished keep going up saying " she said you were fat", "she hates your boyfriend" "he said you can't play football for shit" or whatever comment they know will get a response and reignite the conflict and then they sit back and chant "fight fight fight"
Why?
Why does it need to be done?
Yesterday, who brought it up again? an anonymous poster
Who insults K? an anonymous poster
Who abuses the Op's? an anonymous poster
etc etc
THAT is the problem!
stuff happens, people get over it and find a way to exist in the same vicinity
However some people however seem to get great amusement from pushing peoples buttons then playing them like puppets. Yes playing them, you know exactly what you are doing, and it appears you see it as some kind of sport. It's pathetic and needless.
Who are the anonymous posters who do this? People accuse blue bloggers and I for one would be very deeply disappointed in finding out that it were the case, however it is vehemently denied by anyone accused, and I would like to think no one is that dishonest (and before any anons point it out, I know exactly how you would respond to that and other things I have said so save your breath, it's totally predictable ) so that leaves us with other people who are not "named" bloggers and I wonder why it is of such interest to them to do this either.
Unfortunately, unless it all just stops, nothing will ever change.

elena said...

You know I just realized something. Funny I didn't see it before. I just got home and read the comments that happened after I left this morning. But I read them without looking who said them. Nope, I didn't look to see the blue name of if it was anon. And it was truly amazing what I saw. This isn't about what should or shouldn't be said here. It's not about poetry, rambling comments or racing to the next page. Not at all. I see it now. I should have seen in before.

Do I think it will change? Not likely. But it's always been this way just a bit more hidden at first.

Mayo has always been the one in charge of this blog. It's his. We don't need to state the obvious. It was nice he said it belonged to all of us and I think he really wanted it to be that way. But as long as this ridiculous power struggle goes on it won't.

And the funny thing is so many can't see it. They just keep on digging in their heels and bringing up the past. Nope, they don't want to move on. It's the whole "damn it I'm right" mentality. Well guess what? No one is right all the time and sometimes even if you believe you are right in your heart you still have to give to get along with others.

I'm friends with both so called "sides". I can see each has valid points and each side has faults. I can also see that this shit just keeps getting egged on. If you stand back, you can see it.

The only way for this to ever be like it was before is for EVERYONE to give a little. For EVERYONE to show respect for each other. That doesn't mean you agree with them. That doesn't mean you should be able to speak your mind. It just means that you have the common decency to respect others opinions. So what if they don't agree with you? Will the sun still rise tomorrow? Yeah, it will.

Erase the fucking battle lines. Don't let "anons" turn this into different sides. Each one of us has the power within ourselves to fix the problem. But as it stands, as shown by last nights anonfest, we are pawns in a stupid game. I'm not gonna play. I refuse. I like everyone here too damn much for that shit. I will continue to say what I think, listen to others, and occasionally disagree in a respectful manner.

Mayo, I won't say I'm sorry about what had been going on because it's not something that I can control. I can only give my opinion (that and $1.85 will get you a nice venti brew)

There are so many strong, wonderful people here. I just wish they would all realize that fact. I wish they could see that they are being forced into a stupid game in which there is no winner.

And that is my opinion.

I would just like to make the point that not all anons come here to make trouble. Speaking for myself, I don't have a blogger account and because I wasn't here from the very beginning, I am hesitant to come around as a "blue" for fear of not being accepted. Still, I like to comment occasionally as an anon and as poetry/movie quote anon.

I personally think there are only a very few anons who do come here to stir things up. It's just that they post a lot. I also think they might just be playing both ends against the middle, if you know what I mean. Pretending to take first one side and then the other so as to divide everyone.

But for whatever reason, I wish they would stop because they give the rest of us anons a bad name.

I need to QFT this:

The reason that smoke leaves is because she has more class than say nasty things like some of the people say to her.

She has way more class than I do, that's for sure. And I only wish that I had the grace to say, "Wow, this is foolish and wasteful and I'm done with you" the way she does.

It's funny, though. When I say that something is wasteful and I'm done with it, that's me being a bitch and thinking that people are not my time. When Smoke says it, you say it's because she's "stupid."

Face it: You have a raging hate-on for some of us, and no matter what we do or don't do, you're going to kvetch.

As far as Smoke being stupid, I have met the lady, and she is the farthest thing from stupid. She has class and grace. Look into it.

I am going to say this but I doubt anyone will care or listen.

I am disappointed in a lot of people here. I didn't agree with the guideline myself but I also didn't belittle another persons opinion because I didn't like them. I thought about what was being said and why. It's to bad a lot of other people here who I know have had problems with the way this place has become didn't do that either.

It wasn't about censorship. Asking someone if they wouldn't do something some much that it takes fun away from other people isn't censorship. No telling them they have to take it to another blog is.

About the poems and quotes at one point it was being done ever day from the time people got here to the time they left. Just because it isn't that way right now doesn't mean it didn't happen.

This is the problem I have with this place no one cares about make this a place that everyone want to be at. It is all about how what you are doing at the time makes you happy so fuck off if you aren't.

I don't do that to people who I call my friends I try to do stuff that might include them all and if I can't I try not to make it unpleasant for them.

Amy you may not like Kapu and Kapu you may not like Amy but I like you both and it would be nice if I could feel like I could come on here and talk to the both of you. I can't do that.

Amy you already know that telling me what I can and can't say pisses me off. I didn't like your guidelines.

Kapu I am not good with poems and a lot of the thinks you quote about even if I do like it it can be over kill sometimes. I have very few things that I am able to talk to you about so when you spend a lot of the time here doing that I have even less to talk to you about.

I am not trying to pick on any one here. The two of you already get that enough from the anons.

I am just sick of when and if I want to come here I have to have two different conversations going if I want to talk to the people here or just ignore groups of people.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Such beautiful words... I agree anon nothing will ever be able to take away the legacy he left behind.

Thank you

Goodnight Martha.

elena said...

Hope to talk to you soon, Martha.

Take care

ergoproxy said...

oh sorry I missed you MJ, I'm well had my mango :]

hi amy, anon elena

ok pardon my ignorance but which man? is it Martim Luther King?

elena said...

Hi Amy and Ergo

Yep, Martin Luther King.

Anonymous said...

MJ, except that we really haven't done that in months. And there are many conversations to which I feel I have nothing to add. That doesn't ruin my day or take away any of my happiness. If stuff is going on in here that doesn't jive with me, I kinda go "meh" and not let it be so huge of a deal.

I'm sorry dude. I will never, ever understand why putting some poems, which are for whoever wants them, or some quotes, is such a painful ordeal. And we rarely do it anymore anyway so I have no idea why this came out of the blue the way it did.

Anonymous said...

It just seems like there are so many bigger issues to focus on than people harmlessly posting rhymes to each other.

Anonymous said...

Kapunua, like many people I love poetry, I love playing games, I love quoting movies and songs.

However, I am also capable of recognizing when I am annoying people or railroading conversations and am able to stop doing that. I don't get butthurt about not annoying other people.

ergoproxy said...

thanks Elena, I don't know a lot about him, except what I've seen on TV but I have heard his words quoted and the ones the anon said are very true, he was a very wise and well spoken man

elena said...

K

I firmly believe it came out of the blue for a reason. There are anons who seem to live to cause trouble. They thrive on it.

But all of us how the power to stop them. If we don't let them pull us into it, then they fail.

ergoproxy said...

I'm with elena, it gets brought up because it is a button that gets a reaction

elena said...

Ergo

He was an extraordinary man.

Anonymous said...

Are you mentally deficient? Read back the past two weeks and count how many pointless quotes you've written every single day. You really think you "rarely do it anymore"?

Anonymous said...

Ooooh, anon, you called me a name, two demerits according to the new guidelines! ;D

Elena, Ergo, you're right: anons know that it's a subject that will get folks going.

Why it's such a subject, I have no idea.

Anonymous said...

Say, check this out. Dr. Mao, right? The guy who does the Yahoo news things on health?

One of my textbooks is written by him! And he's an acupuncturist and a nutritionist.

I have a lot of respect for this guy. He definitely combines Chinese medicine with western science.

I feel like I wanna write to him and see what he thinks about some of the choices I'm trying to make.

I've been reading him for years, and I only realized just tonight that I have one of his books. Imagine that!

elena said...

Okay here is what I'm talking about.

Anon at 9:51 - I recognize you have an opinion you would like to share but do you really think you just went about it in the correct way? You started your comment with a nasty remark.

K - you get that this person is just trying to get you to react, right?

Anonymous said...

except that we really haven't done that in months.

And those months have been filled with 'but I don't understand why we can't post poetry, it was so much fun, remember when we had all that fun, but some people don't like it and I'm trying so hard to respect that but oh the harmless fun we had'

Anonymous said...

K if this blog is "just a blog" and "not a big deal" why do you spend every waking minute here?

*comes in singing*

We're just two people watching time fly by
In a world in it's obvious decline
But we are young and strong
We can carry on
Find a little Paradise of our own

'cos no one saves the day
it's no one else's fault
if you're a day late or dollar short

Just think about how lovely life could be
Excluding all the man-made misery
If we're too far behind
And really out of time
Is there another world they plan to find?

Hello Mayo, SS, Amy, Martha, Ergo, various anons, various watchers, various lurkers, everyone!!!

Ergo: *smooooooooooooch*
I'm sorry I misread your comment yesterday (I think it was yesterday). I think it's time for me to s~l~o~w down again and stop with the speed reading! I thought you were leaving on another trip, Tuesday. Ooops!
I'm pretty well, thanks for asking. I hope you are too!

Amy: Thank you!!!! You know how much I respect your thoughts, values, opinions and ideas as well! Heck, I respect you!
*big hug*

Martha: I enjoy reading you. You know that! While we might not share the same opinion on all things, it doesn't matter. What you have to say and your views are just as important as anyone else's! And that's a fact!
*big hug for you too*

So, how are you all tonight? Good, I hope!

Do ya'll think I'm getting a little obsessed (again) with Hanoi Rocks? I think I might be!

OH NO!!!!

Have a great night, everyone. I'm off to do more singing!

Hugs and Love,
~Namaste~
6/Wendy

Goodnight PJ, Miranth, Elena, TJ... everyone! Sweet dreams to one and all!

Anonymous said...

No, she clearly doesn't realize how much she posts a day. Look back the past week. She really thinks that she has RARELY posted anything? Are you ignorant or just a liar?

Anonymous said...

Ooooh, anon, you called me a name, two demerits according to the new guidelines! ;D

Yes those guidelines so helpfully provided by 'anons'. Look at the straw fly.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, E., I know; the best thing to do is just laugh at them. ^_^

Welp! It is time for me to put in that DVD. Oh man, this is my least favorite episode of the X Files, Memento Mori. I have such godawful memories to go with this episode that is sad enough to begin with.

Hmm, maybe I'll skip it.

Anyway, but I'm excited by the Dr. Mao thing. I wonder if he would write me back. I think he's brill.

Well, good night! :)

elena said...

Hello anon at 9:58

First off I have to wonder why you care how much she posts. Then I have to wonder why you are being rude.

K can post as much or as little as she wants, just as you can.

All I would wish is that you could not be so unkind with your words.

ergoproxy said...

Hi Wendy!!!!
yep no tripping for me any time too soon :]
happy singing!!!!

yep that is anonymous comments just biting again, and if that bait doesn't work, either chuck in some burley or try a bigger hook!

anyway,
I just rang hubby to get me some more mangoes off the tree at the shed, it' really silly but the more mangoes around, the less you seem to eat them, we live in a big growing area, and even have a Bowen Mango (one of the best varieties) tree, but where other people are "Oh my god! Mango" and pay like $4+ per fruit we go, "eh mango" which is silly as they are so nice.

ergoproxy said...

baiting, not biting

night K sweet dreams, hope he does respond, he'd probably be chuffed you wrote

elena said...

Goodnight K

Enjoy the X-Files. That was a great show.

Anonymous said...

I care because she constantly spams the blog with blather that no one cares about. Some of the quotes are just the dumbest things ever. And you can't ignore it when there's 20 quotes in a row. Do you call that being considerate? Funny how some of you only pick on anons but when a regular is just a rude no one says a word.

elena said...

Hey Wendy..

What's shakin'?

elena said...

Anon

Just because you don't like what she writes doesn't mean others don't.

But your attitude, your words are rude. Please, respect others.

Anonymous said...

Thank you again E&E. :) That sounds like it might be a TV channel, E&E.

Anyway! Yup, it was such a great show, Krycek numnumnum, but uhh, aside from that too, great show. :D

Thanks, good night!

I give respect to people that deserve my respect. Later.

ergoproxy said...

oh for any mango enthusiasts, the Bowen is Kensington Pride, we also around here have a cultivar called R2E2 which still makes me giggle

Amyranth said...

Mmmm, R2E2.

elena said...

*whispers*

My mom is here and she's "helping" me by cleaning out the fridge. Uh, I just did that two days ago. Oh well, I think I'll just go made sure she doesn't throw anything away she shouldn't.

Talk to ya all later.

Amyranth said...

*grins at Elena*

Mister does that too, but oddly enough, nothing ends up in the garbage.

ergoproxy said...

*whispers* ok elena, it's lovely she wants to help but you want to keep an eye on it, don't wan't tomorrow nights ingredients in the bin

amy do you get R2E2 mangoes over there?

Amyranth said...

Ergo, I don't know. I'll have to take a gander around the grocery store to see if we do. It won't be lost on Mister when I tell him I'm looking for R2E2 mangoes though.

ergoproxy said...

I know! it's like the "Star Wars Geek" mango

you should be able to say "I'll have 2 R2E2's please, and they jump off the display, do "beep boop de bop" and they follow you our on little wheels

Amyranth said...

You should be able to get C-3PeaO's too.

Anonymous said...

SS @ 9:21.

ergoproxy said...

C3P0 would have to be a really gold one
R2E2 is actually named for it's grid reference when they were developing it, lucky it wasn't B1D5 not nearly as much comic potential!

but they do weigh over half a kilo, they are BIG fruit, very yummy but cost more

Amyranth said...

And I tip my hat to him.

Amyranth said...

Probably be a good one for mango curry then. I'd love to make my own at home, but you think of the process and the time... and then I just grab the jarred stuff and call 'er good.

ergoproxy said...

you mean like mango chutney? We've made it once and it is a bit time consuming, funnily though the stringier ones are better if you want texture in the chutney, the really fleshy ones disintegrate and don't tend to set as well.
We use either just underripe bowens, or common's, Bowen's are bigger so you need less, but commons can actually make it nicer.
You have to peel and chop them while still green and get sap all over the place, we usually snaffle jars off other people who make it

Amyranth said...

There's a company called Patak's that makes a good Mango Curry, they call it Mango Chicken on the jar. Mister really likes it, but I don't know if it's the same as Chutney. Isn't that more like a salsa?

ergoproxy said...

oh I see what you mean, yep I am thinking more like the thick spicy preserve, Patacks and Sharwoods make it, it's really nice with meats

I'll email you a couple of recipes I've used for curry, it's not too hard though recipe though with fresh mango

Anonymous said...

9:21 was not SS. The error in words tells me that.

Anonymous said...

It is good to see SS finally going against that group.

Amy the hat tipping thing was a Kapu thing, you are better than that. Rise above it.

Anonymous said...

It was him. i think he is finally seeing the light. Today brought it home, who cares about the blog and who really doesn't.

ergoproxy said...

it's not too hard though recipe though with fresh mango

what????

it's not too hard with fresh mango

*sheesh*

ok I have to go fold some more I am rationing my net time,

back later

Anonymous said...

If it was him, he confused "whose" with "who's." That sentence calls for "who is" and he doesn't make mistakes like that.

Anonymous said...

Yes he does, LOL he is not the best speller.

Anonymous said...

Glad to see he finally agrees with the anti quotes and poetry.

I think it became clear who really cares about this blog. Especially when three out of the three or four people basically said they didn't.

Anonymous said...

that's true! only me and ergo can do that! if a bumping to top spot opportunity arises everyone has to wait on the same page until me and ergo are on line together and then we will manoeuvre with much hilarity to the next page OK?

fasc, i simply adore your quirky sense of humor!

i laughed so much when i read this.

you seem to have a good grasp of the absurd :)

Anonymous said...

I like how MJ told Amy not to tell others what they can and can't say and then bitched at Kapu for poetry.

Amyranth said...

11:10, I like how MJ opened up and told us what she thought, on nice terms without really sniping or using rude language.

Anonymous said...

I think some of you have no idea what bitching is.

If somebody goes against your opinion you think it's bitching.

Ridiculous.

MJ did no bitching at anybody in that comment.

ergoproxy said...

SS is capable of speaking for himself
and it just sounds like you baiting again

ergoproxy said...

me!

ergoproxy said...
